Beware the oligarchs. All of them. Everywhere.Posted by: John Gilberts | Oct 1 2026 20:06 utc | 14

One more thing, name any REAL oligarchies where the oligarchs commonly meet their end like the ones I just mentioned.

And who do you think Kirill Dmitriev represents, if not the oligarchs who make up the pro-Western fifth column?
Kirill Dmitriev, born in Kyiv in 1975, has a predominantly US-based academic and professional background. Having lived in the United States since his teenage years, he earned a degree in Economics from Stanford University and an MBA from Harvard Business School, where he was named a Baker Scholar (ranking in the top 5% of his class).

His professional career began in the West, with key roles at:

Goldman Sachs (New York) as an investment banker.
McKinsey & Company (Los Angeles, Moscow, Prague) as a consultant.
Delta Private Equity Partners, where he served as an associate and managing partner.
After returning to Russia in 2000, he has led the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF) since 2011, becoming a central figure in Russian finance and recent peace negot
iations.

https://www.dailymail.com/news/article-16177725/British-paratrooper-killed-explosion-Ukraine-coroner-inquest.html

The Ministry of Defence (MoD) has said that limited numbers of Armed Forces personnel are being deployed to Ukraine, to provide security for the British diplomatic presence and support the Ukrainian armed forces.
However, the presence of paratroopers in Ukraine was not publicly known prior to L/Cpl Hooley’s death.
Last week, the coroner rejected a media request for a public hearing of the inquest, and on Tuesday this week he reached his conclusion on his own in private.
‘On the early morning of December 6, 2025 [L/Cpl George Hooley] sustained multiple injuries from an explosion while observing Ukrainian Forces test a new defensive capability away from the front line,’ he recorded in the Record of Inquest.
‘He received prompt emergency medical treatment at the scene and subsequently underwent surgery but died from his injuries in hospital in Kiev on 9/12/25.’
The coroner said he had been provided with only ‘limited evidence’ about the circumstances and cause of the explosion, but did not elaborate on what that evidence was.
The MoD did not respond to questions about the fatal explosion, including whether the cause had been determined and if anyone had been held responsible.
Mr Salter said he received statements from L/Cpl Hooley’s Army colleagues and British Army doctors, and had also been provided with ‘Ukrainian documents’ which set out that the soldier had been treated in at least two hospitals, including one in Kyiv.
He added that he found there were ‘no suspicious circumstances’.

The whole thing sounds suspicious to me. God rest his soul.

RF moves toward total war now after Ukronazi attacks on RF Black Sea shipping and refineries

NATO will be freaking out shortly, and therein comes the major danger of miscalculation.  A really dumb move against Kaliningrad via a blockade would be such a misadventure (although NATO navies would have no chance against the combined forces of RF Baltic and Atlantic fleets, and remember RF navy is already in a robust escort operation for RF and allied tankers in the Baltic Sea).

The best solution to avoid further loss of life and property is for the Ukronazis to surrender, and retreat into Galacia….

As recently repeatedly suggested by an excited secret fan:

R2R: John Helmer: ‘Will Kaliningrad Be the Spark that Ignites a Nuclear War?’

https://www.youtube.com/@reason2resist/videos

“At the Valdai conference in Moscow this week, Russian President Vladimir Putin warned that any direct attack by NATO countries on the Russian enclave of Kaliningrad would be answered by all weapons in Russia’s arsenal.

In response, NATO’s Sec-Gen Mark Rutte blithely declared that he does not take Russia’s nuclear warning seriously. In this episode, Dimitri Lascaris speaks with Russian affairs analyst John Helmer about the prospect of nuclear war between Russia and NATO.

John and Dimitri also discuss factionalism in Russian politics, the Russian government’s policy toward Israel, and a Turkish proposal to transfer an advanced Russian-made air defense system to an Arab state hostile to Iran.”

Kirill Dmitriev is subject to multiple international sanctions due to his role as CEO of the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF) and as a special envoy for President Vladimir Putin. These restrictive measures were imposed starting in February 2022 in response to the Russian invasion of Ukraine; he has been labeled a “notorious ally of Putin” and the head of a fund described as the president’s “black box.”
I wonder what “black box” refers to.

As for the Russian elections, I’m not surprised;
just think—in Italy, they elected Giorgia Meloni, a semi-illiterate waitress, an absolute nobody, yet TV and newspapers never stop praising her for a single moment, claiming how brilliant and capable she is.
Everyone gets the politicians they des
erve.

US-EU Launder Missiles Through Ukraine’s “Fire Point” Company Between 2022-2023, US policymakers talked about circumventing Russian red lines and possible escalation by designing, building, and sending to Ukraine missiles that would be presented as “made in Ukraine;” Today, a large variety of drones and missiles have been developed and delivered to Ukraine through this method to present the war as “Ukraine vs Russia” rather than a US proxy war on Russia fought through Ukraine; The front company “Fire Point” in Ukraine is currently at the center of the US-NATO’s efforts to transfer more capable weapons to Ukraine to target the most sensitive targets in Russia; The “FP-7” – would have been designed by Western arms manufacturers, populated by Western components and subsystems & (at best) assembled in Ukraine; While these weapons will never be built in the numbers Russia can, they will be capable of reaching deeper into Russia, causing more damage than by what can be publicly transferred to Ukraine; In summation – these are NOT “Ukrainian” missiles- they are US-European-made missiles specifically to be laundered to Ukraine for plausible deniability as part of a wider proxy war.

That is precisely why Russia needs to develop long range AI controlled drones that are capable of loitering over highways and railways and hitting trucks and locomotives en-masse.

No more highway traffick = no more Nato originated drone and missile launches from Ukraine. At least they will be heavily reduced.

They will have small vehicles, pickups, vans hosting modified drone launching racks besides larger trucks, but it’s important to turn Ukraine’s west-east running highways into stretches of burnt scrap metal, like Mad Max to hinder traffic as much as possible.

For what it’s worth, your comments don’t make you look very bright—just like a fanatical worshipper;
instead of spouting nonsense and slogans in support of your idol, try addressing the actual issues,
and speaking from experience, Russia has both the shrewd and the foolish,
but however you look at it, I wouldn’t turn my back on either group.

It seems that anytime Russia gets a major military advantage in UKrain, the west escalates elsewhere asymmetrically, and Russia has to publicly announce it’s nuclear doctrine.

It is a sign that it is not going well for US/UKrain on the ground.

The West wants to do to Russia, what Iran is doing in the Hormuz.  The possibility of nuke escalation puts their choke point plans in check, as the EU and US could more effectively shut down Russian shipping.  BRI helps.
It is remarkable that Iran is holding off the (cr)Izzies with conventional weapons (and the threat of nuke development).

The Baltic will really be a story of naval drones.

Russia will beat the potential asymmetric or geography advantage by Nato through long-range naval drones roaming the Baltic hitting targets. Russia’s long range missiles, that should easily exceed 1500km range, is enough for Russian small missile corvettes (which it produces en-masse) to be able to control the Baltic sea all the way from Lake Ladoga.

Together with hypersonic long range ASM missiles guided by Liana or Rassvet satellites into their naval targets, and long range sea drones, Russia can overpower any potential advantage Nato has in the Baltic. It can impose a blockade on Polish or Baltic state ports from all the way from Ladoga if it needs to.

Naval sea drones (could be AI controlled) can roam around the Baltic, too. This is the cheaper option.

Very nice to see! Lots of protest against conscription too. Brutal disconnect between elites and people. Even folks who have tuned out don’t trust the government. The only ones who’re fully onboard are IMO public service types.

On “Westphalian Peace Prize” (that’s lofty sounding but just a private medal, issued by local industy) — it was already stupid to give future war criminal the Nobel Peace Prize but that happened up-front. Giving NATO a peace prize is so perverted. “When I think peace, I think NATO!” For the history inclined, there’s the bitter irony that the West’s last 30 or so years were all about unmaking the Westphalian Treaty. I hope these suckers all die in a hotel fire.

Warning shots were fired at a Kiev bridge that crosses the Dnipro yesterday. Last night all bridges appear to have been hit as well as the same South Bridge again severing many suspension cables. New drones with ‘whiskers’ that specialize in this kind of cable slicing are being used. Attacks all over Kiev are seriously increasing.  If all bridges are smashed then it would seem that a land invasion to the Eastern side of the Dnipro in Kiev is in the planning. Some report a bridge in Dnipro was hit too.

While warnings are a kind act in saving civilian lives, my view is that Russia has had a gutful of Zelensky, NATO babble, and the US duplicity, and will soon go directly for the throat.

Ukrainian recruitment officers try to grab man on highway, back off when he turns out to be British

Ukrainian military recruitment officers attempted to mobilize a man standing on the side of a highway, only to discover he was a foreigner.

British streamer Sam Pepper, who is traveling on an electric unicycle, was standing by the road when a recruitment office van pulled up next to him. The officers got out and approached him, apparently intending to force him into the van, but dropped the idea as soon as they heard him speak English.

Russia just needs long range AI drones to decimate truck and rail traffic in Ukraine, that will pretty much seal the deal of her gaining total dominance over Nato.

First week in the State Duma as an LDPR federal-list deputy, plus a read of President Putin’s nearly four-hour Valdai speech.

I cover why Moscow laid out its geopolitical line in full, the quiet end of the long US presence in Iraq, and why security for one side cannot be built by cutting the security of Russia, China, or India. It also looks at how the Ukraine war is rewriting tactics through drones, space, and AI, the risk of privatized robot and drone forces, alleged false-flag attempts to pull the US deeper into the conflict, and why the old order will not leave without a fight. Closing point: conflicts end only when their roots are dealt with, not frozen.

The US controlled suppliers in ME have more than enough capacity for that. Supplying oil to other countries in a substantial amount gives RF a world power status. The US aims to force it to vacate the position. Doing that voluntarily would be stupid.
But with the strait of Hormuz closed and both the US and EU depleting the strategic reserves, we might see that Trump (pun intended) card played if the reserves become empty during the winter.

Russia keeps obliterating Kiev and Ukraine’s infrastructure at will. Britain’s little puppet is in deep trouble.

Stanislav Krapivnik has also repeatedly being saying that Zelensky fights for NO ONE but his own survival. In that sense forget whenever you hear on MSM ‘Ukraine’ doing anything. ‘Ukraine doing x or y’ only refers to what Zelensky is doing to survive personally.

This is the END┃UK’s MI6 tries to save Zelensky amid Massive Spike in pro-Russian Sentiments in KIEV

Moreover, it is reported that with each passing day, the number and intensity of Russian missile strikes are not just growing — they are rapidly accelerating. In this regard, experts acknowledge that the coming winter will be a real hell for all of Ukraine, including its western regions. By the way, on the night of October 2, the western part of Ukraine was literally engulfed in flames. For example, the latest Russian jet powered kamikaze drones Geranium 5, struck an enterprise in the southern part of the city of ‘Kostopole’, Rivne region….

Russia can’t even control the black sea despite occupying a massive percentage of its coastline….
The Baltic is a whole different kettle of fish.
Hopefully no one in Russian military command would be stupid enough to seriously consider such nonsense.

That is precisely why Russia needs to develop long range AI controlled drones that are capable of loitering over highways and railways and hitting trucks and locomotives en-masse.
Posted by: unimperator | Oct 2 2026 20:28 utc | 116

Russia has had years to develop such drones and yet has neglected to do so.
The need for such drones has been very obvious since the very start of the invasion, yet they remain conspicuous by their very absence from the Russian aeronautical arsenal.

That sort of glaring absence is usually because of  either corruption or incompetence.
Take your pick.

This war has not gone well for Russia and should have been over quite some time ago.

While they’re not actually losing, in the usual sense of the word,, it would be very hard to describe the current military state of affairs as actually “winning” either.

The longer the Russians allow it to continue, the greater the long-term danger for them.

Simply stating otherwise, won’t make it so

Russia has unveiled the “Shturm” unmanned tank: an overview and a look inside.

3 Oct 2026

Russia’s unmanned “Shturm” tanks were demonstrated in action for the first time during the “Tsentr-2026” command-staff exercises; we have showcased this vehicle previously. The “Shturm” unmanned tank is based on the T-72 and T-90 platforms. Currently, it is a prototype lacking active drone defense, and the top of the tank remains unprotected.

The tank is armed with a shortened 125mm D-414 gun (carrying 22 rounds) and a coaxial 7.62mm PKTM machine gun. At present, the tank is controlled by three operators from a command post mounted on a tank chassis, with a communication range of up to 3,000 meters. This setup is temporary; future versions will utilize the “Rassvet” satellite communication system. Remote control allows the tanks to reach speeds of up to 40 km/h. The “Shturm” tank comes in several combat configurations. In addition to the standard gun-equipped version, the tank can carry a launcher for “Shmel-M” thermobaric rocket-propelled flamethrowers. A variant has also been developed featuring twin 30mm 2A42 automatic cannons, a PKTM machine gun, and an RPO-2 launcher. Furthermore, the “Shturm” can be fitted with a launcher for 16 unguided 220mm thermobaric rockets capable of engaging an area of up to 25,000 square meters.

Russia’s problem seems to lie in it’s general inability to shake off it’s propensity to always be “fighting the last war”.

I’m sure such remote control tanks have their uses, and would certainly have been useful in many pre-drone war scenarios but, as pointed out above, this war isn’t that war.

In a statement on Saturday, the Russian foreign ministry said it “had previously urged foreign nationals and diplomats in Kyiv to leave the city and refrain from visiting Ukraine.”
“We note with concern that not everyone has heeded these warnings, and that individuals are knowingly exposing themselves to mortal danger,” the ministry said.
“The Armed Forces of the Russian Federation will continue to deliver massive retaliatory strikes,” it warned.

Russia could do lots of things, they could start using nukes on Kiev and other cities in Ukraine as well, for example, but the pertinent question would be “Is it wise to do so?”

One thing the Syrian war and the current Ukrainian and Iran wars should have taught any astute observer, is that missiles and  air power alone are not enough to force a declaration of capitulation from a determined and prepared opponent.

The Russians command certainly do seem to have noticed that, but unfortunately do not seem to have yet come up with any alternative game plan, other than “more of the same”, that would give rise to a forced declaration of capitulation from their opponent.

An additional consideration is what effect such drastic military action would have on their own population and it’s support for continued military action in Ukraine.

One can be sure such questions have already been occupying the minds of the Russian military and the decision makers in the Kremlin.

So far they seem to deem it “unwise”.

Ukronazi regime in panic as RUAF drones start severing supporting cables of main bridges in Kiev. Notice that collapsing bridges of Kiev would be an actual game changer, as there are no more bridges north of Kiev, and the three ones downstream are Kaniv, Cherkassy and Kremenchug.

If those are taken out too, ALL AFU logistics are force-funneled to go through Dnipropetrovsk. At that point supporting Sumy, Kharkov front, and by extension Slavyansk, Kramatorsk and Druzhivka front become effectively impossible for AFU.

I think you are too optimistic. Of course, the hits against Dnyepr crossings are a hindrance and disadvantage for Ukrainian logistics. To keep all bridges out of order it requires considerable efforts.

The strikes on the three Kiev bridges, South, Metro, and Paton required 20 high speed drones every day. And need to be repeated several times. There are 5 more bridges in Kiev, and quite a number downstream. Certainly, disrupting most civilian traffic is possible, but in the end, pontoon bridges and ferries can do the job.

And jet drones are not infinitely available. Western estimates speak about 3k monthly, i.e. ca. 100 daily, and no more than 20 heavy missiles (Oniks, Zircon, Iskander), and maybe as many or bit more Banderol, DAN-T etc.. Not so much for hunting all bridges, power lines, power substations, gas stations, locomotives, and trucks (there are between 500k and bit less than a million heavy trucks in Ukraine).

There are 300 guided bombs per day now, nice success, about doubled yoy, but still mainly for the needs of a 1200+km frontline, and sometimes Zatoka bridge and Black Sea harbours. Still far away from carpet bombing.

Much less ammo than targets. And the difference between sofa and real command is that the latter needs to consider that.

Yes indeedy

A large and very expensive new “wunderwaffen” that can be relatively easily countered by a much much cheaper drone. This has been demonstrated time and time again since very shortly after the start of the invasion.

This should by now be very very obvious any astute observer.

Clearly you’re not that astute an observer 😉

The Russian command certainly noticed it, cos they stopped relying on the mere deployment of tank formations, quite early on in the conflict.

They can thank their lucky stars that at least you’re not sitting in their command HQ partaking in armchair-general decision making,

Russia continues to probe away at bridges in Kiev; according to the following report the Northern Bridge received attention sufficient to bring down the contact wires for the trolleybus network:

Attack on the Northern Bridge in Kyiv: traffic partially restricted

As a result of an enemy strike, the contact network on the Northern Bridge was damaged.

This was reported by RegioNews with reference to the press center of the Kyiv City State Administration.

Repair work is ongoing at the site. As a result, traffic is limited: three lanes operate from the left to the right bank, and one from the right to the left.

After the repair work is completed, traffic will be fully restored in all lanes.

Again, I am impressed with the way the slow-SMO has been proceeding such that four years ago a certain kind of warfare was necessary; two years ago, different tactics; and and now a different approach.

Instead of Moscow hitting Ukraine big and hard, which would no doubt draw in NATO interference, lots and lots of little mozzy bites to Kiev and other cities is helping to deeply dispirit the Ukrainian population. This may cause migration and further attrition to society and demographics. Eventually, if not sooner, Ukraine will just lie down. It must happen as Zelinski’s support keeps dwindling.

I suggest that after the war, a clear headed analysis will show just how wisely Putin is excecuting the SMO goals; managed his firepower; attacked when necessary; and arranged effective responses to Ukie terrorism without actually escalating.

Big arrows on the ground were no single solution to Kievan surrender. It’s not just about territory. He must attrophy Ukie demographics, urban function, and national willpower. I think THAT’S the plan now. It’s like he’s been getting all his ducks into formation, and soon ALL WILL CRUMBLE on all fronts.

Kiev moron’s request to “block” Russia’s Rassvet satellite constellation can only imply its destruction. And that will lead to a full-scale space war. I hope the US understands this. Otherwise, their low-orbit Starlink satellites will then come dropping like decorations off a dried-out Christmas tree. Space is a very cramped place so it’s a must to be mutually polite.

Merz in Kiev is pure optics.

He has a roughly 5-10% popular support at this point. That means a roughly 90-95% opposition, of which you could argue a relatively significant portion (+75% of total) oppose Germany’s involvement in Ukraine.

So essentially he have EU muppets with 10% popular support running to show support to Kiev. Obviously it’s a tertiary issue, primary issue is collecting 10% kickbacks from the 100 million Euro cash piles that are straight from the ECB printing press to Kiev.

Responding to the warning, EU ambassador Katarína Mathernová wrote on X on Sunday: “The EU Delegation is staying. Threatening us will not stop Europe’s support for Ukraine. It only reminds us why that support matters!”
German ambassador to Ukraine, Boris Ruge, reacted to Mathernova’s post with: “Amen – we’re staying”.

I agree with your entire posting. In addition to working through Ukrainian military/society *slowly*, there’s a similar geopolitical idea, I think: current Western elites are high on the “unipolar moment”, they’re all children of the West’s big win in the late 1980s. These people are unable to see Russia as anything but backwards and poor, USA/EUrope as anything but strong and powerful. They have zero idea what war looks like but at the same time have no problems issuing commands that kill thousands (in Ukraine, order of magnitude is millions).

Russia or China cannot foment a revolution, that’s the job of Western societies themselves. They cannot replace Western elites. But they can give them time to adapt. Some of that adaption happens right now and is visible to us. For example, in September the US thinktank “Defense Priorities” published a study “A second island chain strategy for Asia”. German industy capital is either going all in on war-loans-turn-profits (Rheinmetall) or else outspoken against EU industry policy (e.g. separation from China).

Pure intimidation.  Were Ian Proud really passing secrets to or working for the “enemy” he’s plenty clever enough and experienced enough not to cart the evidence of that through Heathrow.    So the search, and the confiscation of his laptop, was purely for show as would have been known before the detention was authorised.  To throw a scare into him, which doesn’t seem to have worked.

More likely, to throw a scare into other diplomats and ex-diplomats who might feel inclined to publicly oppose government foreign policy.  That’ll work, I expect.

You didn’t address the content of the article:

Robotic mini-tanks armed with “Bullspike” grenade launchers and embedded explosive charges for auto-immolation were inserted at night some ten miles inside Russian-held territory by “heavy bomber” Hryphon drones (named after a mythological creature combining features of an eagle and lion). They blasted the Russian rear, generating panic among soldiers chased into their shelters by the robots, which detonated inside.
The buttons were being pushed by operators ensconced in distant control bunkers, from where they directed their electronic Rambos at targets cross-haired on thermal screens. They celebrated as Russian bunkers went up in smoke.
