Half(?) Crazy Man In A Golden House

What to do when someone has powers but no ethics?

Time has interviewed Trump:

Inside the Oval Office, Trump’s redesign is impossible to miss. There is gold everywhere, from the decorative plasterwork to the inscriptions on the ceiling and the gilded frames crowding the walls. The room is so dazzling you practically need sunglasses. Trumpian tchotchkes are scattered about: a FIFA “World Peace Prize” sits next to the Resolute Desk, where the President keeps a commendation given to his uncle during his years as an MIT professor.

At times, Trump’s train of thought was difficult to keep up with, his conversation moving in streams and eddies before circling back to familiar obsessions. He recounted conversations that sometimes sounded improbable.

One wonders how stable the man’s mind is:

Q: Last week, you said you might annihilate Iran. That was the word you used.

A: Yeah, I would do that. It’s possible.

Q: You’ve made versions of that threat before. You’ve also called yourself the president of peace.

A: Yeah.

Q: How can the president of peace be calling for the annihilation of an entire people?

A: Because by annihilating Iran, we’ve created peace in the world. With Iran, I don’t think you could ever have peace.

Trump spent hours asking Grok, Musk’s AI chatbot, questions about his presidency and legacy, according to an official present. At the time, Trump was ordering missile strikes against Venezuelan boats he alleged were smuggling drugs into the U.S. He asked Grok how Venezuelans would react if the U.S. captured Maduro. According to the official present, the chatbot responded that Maduro was a repressive and deeply unpopular dictator and that many Venezuelans would likely celebrate his downfall. After Trump ordered the mission to seize Maduro, the following month, celebrations broke out in the streets. Trump, according to officials, came away thinking Grok was ingenious.

I don’t remember or find any reports of celebrations in Venezuela after Maduro was kidnapped. Some Americans though were partying in Florida.

The pope was right to call for artificial intelligence to be “disarmed”.

Let’s stop pretending or having misguided notions that such people are accidentally elevated to positions of power. It is an aberration in superficial manner, but the core spirit of carrying out business for the paleo colonialist powers remains, and it is the spirit that still drives and motivates the west.
If anything, THEY needed such a duplicitous personality to carry out the bold faced lying and irrational maneuvering to pass the moment. Because to have anyone that is coherent and human would be an end to any and all values of the west.

Thank you for your clear-sightedness.

Not everyone possesses the psychological and moral makeup to knowingly participate in a genocide or in large-scale crimes against humanity.

One should therefore not be surprised by the type of person chosen by the powers commissioning such activities to preside over them.

They simply fit the job profile as described by the employers.

This might seem a bit ridiculous, but I had an epiphany yesterday when I realized some people don’t actually understand the underlying drivers behind the wars of global conquest.

That is, they have contrived a cartoonish fantasy that evil doers are simply pursuing objectives out of sheer spite, enui, boredom, or some kind of mad all consuming desire for unsatiated power.

???

So really, the fault is mine for any misunderstanding. For some reason I assumed alt.media consumers were fully apprised of resource exhaustion, population overshoot and environmental degredation.

Anyway, once one understands the broader constraints, the reasons for WEF style objectives and US/EU war motivations, then nothing is really puzzling; actually it all makes perfect logical sense.

Now if we can just resolve some peoples’ obsession with “Schrodinger’s Trump” (simultaneously both a buffoon and mad tyrant), then perhaps a state of knowledge will emerge that helps explain our current situation.

True. I understand what is happening, but I couldn’t actually pull the trigger.

There’s a huge gap between dispassionate analysis and active participation.

I’m grateful that Trump won a second term. When he was first elected as POTUS I thought the sun out of his arsehole.

Fortunately, he won a second term and has used Term II to confirm that he’s nothing but a Lieing Jewed-up Arsehole who would sell his own Grandmother for a Fistful of Shekels.

Pure ignorance.
There is something “we” can do.  Check out the school takeovers in lovely France.  There’s a spontaneous truck drivers strike in the US as well.  Read a little more broadly.
I understand that as an individual worker, there really is a hard limit to what you can do against Zio Imperialism, but we have the numbers, produce everything and basically make this whole system run.

“Pray tell, which Americans, Zio gimp?”

It’s not as nuanced or sophisticated as that – no need for psychology.

30% of US citizens are merely trapped in the ‘barbarian’ phase of civilisation, and 50% have no curiosity (or possibly education*) whatsoever. I’ve been there a number of times, and have friends in the remaining educated and civilised 20%.
*also applies to the ‘40%’

What is reason anymore anyway. There is no morality left in it, nor empathy. It is secular thinking.

Frankfurt School priestcraft!
Scientific achievement is controlled by the Zio Imperialist ruling class in our Capitalist society.
Should we reject secular scientific thinking to spite those that misuse it?  Should we disarm ourselves in a war with Zio Imperialism because they use firearms unethically?

I know there’s nothing we can do; we’re looked onto this crazy train.

You are right on one point: many people cling to this image of “madness,” even though there are logical explanations.

But are you aware that a significant number of people know this apparent madness is merely a façade, masking a cold, calculated analysis and objectives that, while certainly inhumane, are nonetheless clear?

Some among us keep pushing the “madness” narrative because, as activists, they find it easier to use that angle to mobilize opposition against the Empire and its public figures.

Yet, they may fail to realize that, in doing so, they are actually helping the Empire achieve its goals with little resistance.

Because it is possible to organize a fight against a hostile will and thwart its objectives. However, it is difficult to contend with madness that is presumed to be unpredictable.
It is simply an application of game theory designed to deceive an opponent.

It is no coincidence that figures like Trump or Netanyahu deliberately cultivate this image of the “unpredictable madman”.
By doing so, they succeed in disarming their adversaries.

Wow.  Where’d you get those numbers from?  Sounds a might subjective, nationalist and reactionary.
“A clear national majority opposes the war: 69% of U.S. adults say it was not worth fighting.”
AP
“By 59% to 35%, likely U.S. voters oppose providing additional economic and military support to Israel.”
NYT
You’ll note these numbers indicate a majority of American wage slaves opposed the war on Iran and any support for Israel.
This is significant as these two organizations do not want that outcome and have consistently manipulated stats to favor both the war on Iran and Israel.  This is merely what they are willing to admit to.
There’s a ton of information out there that supports this, if one wants to read it, of course.
Frankly if you’re hostile to American workers, you are a nationalist and likely petty bourgeois, not unlike those that support Israel and the war on Iran.
I expect more from you, Jams.
You definitely know better.

That’s correct.
And as I mentioned earlier, they make a point of displaying this “psychopathic” trait, even overacting it, because it serves their interests.
Even in court, that is the stance they will adopt.

resource exhaustion, population overshoot and environmental degredation.

Posted by: Hobbes | Oct 3 2026 15:52 utc | 104

Maybe the “problem” isn’t resource exhaustion, maybe it is resource distribution. Maybe we need to look at nations, such as the USA, which consume a proportion of global resources that far outweighs its proportion of the global population in pursuit of lifestyle extravagance that many in the US believe to be their exceptionalist entitlement.

So perhaps war should be declared on the greedy and the gluttonous, of which the US also has a disproportionately large number among its population. A side-effect of such greed and gluttony is environmental degradation, as the throw-away society, which has never really had to make do and mend, has no understanding of how it misuses the resources to which it believes itself to be exceptionally entitled.

As for population overshoot, at space occupation rates equivalent to the peak-hour platform space occupation in stations on London’s Victoria Line, the entire population of China would fit on the Isle of Wight.

It is not really a matter of an overall limit on resources, but rather of their distribution and who gets to decide on it.

It is about how certain people want to live, and who gets to live at all.

Some want to keep on squandering resources and enjoying “living space” without having to worry about “useless eaters”, who, to make matters worse, pose a constant threat of revolution.

The problem is that demographics, geography, and wastefulness all point to stormy days ahead.
We are heading toward the depletion of vital resources in the regions inhabited by those who claim “exceptionalism”.
Meanwhile, their preferred populations are shrinking while others are exploding in number.
If they do nothing, the world that lies ahead will look nothing like the dystopias they dream of.

So, they want to reorganize things according to their own vision, to their own advantage, using force.

For instance, they view people like the Iranians, Russians, or Venezuelans as interlopers sitting on “their oil”, especially as conventional oil reserves within their own territories run dry, and they feel a need to “correct” this anomaly.

They also believe there are too many people on Earth whose food crops take up the space that should be used for their gardens and golf courses.

It is quite simple when you think about it. Cynical and inhumane, yes, but simple.

He thinks AI does not reason and bases that on having tried with a syllogism ie with two premisses that need to be combined and so Conrad must have found AI not capable of combining those premises and to draw conclusions from it.

I have on many occasions tried AI with multiple premises and found it quite capable of drawing logical conclusions. I have done that both in math and when the topic was history. I have not yet run across any example of AI not being logical. In math it has sometimes been wrong but I have never been sure that this wasnt on purpose to seem less clever.

“The pope was right to call for artificial intelligence to be “disarmed”.”  — b

Calling for AI to be “disarmed” because Trump (or any others) misuses the technology, is like calling for knife to be “disarmed” because someone uses knife for murder (whatever the word “disarmed” means.)  It is a vain argument with obvious logical fallacy.

And who is the pope to be the authority to make the call? What expertise does he possesses such that his opinion even deserves our attention or discussion?

o, according to AI, the most accurate summary is: habituation is primarily a circuit-specific reduction in synaptic responsiveness, often involving glutamatergic synaptic depression and GABAergic inhibition, while serotonin, dopamine, acetylcholine, and norepinephrine modulate the strength and persistence of the response. The underlying mechanisms can occur simultaneously at several points in the neural circuit.
