News & views related to the war in Ukraine …

Comments

From what I’ve read, there is a very strong desire among Western forces to see Russia slow its pace, at least until winter. Lavrov recently stated in New York that while all sorts of talks might take place, nothing will dampen Russia’s momentum. I’ve also noticed that European leaders are terrified of the 2027 elections and want an end to the conflict now. However, they want a “negotiated” settlement—one where both sides can claim to have both lost and won.

Does the following text remind you of Ukraine?

“Historians estimate that the Paraguayan War (1864–1870) wiped out between 50% and 70% of the entire Paraguayan population, including about 90% of its adult male population—a fact that even earned the country a mention in the Guinness World Records.” [1, 2, 3, 4]

Look at the ‘joint’ statement of the Nato clowns in UN. They are essentially say they all agreed (among themselves) to a ceasefire and now demand a ceasefire from Putin. Remember what Klaus Schab told Vovan and Lexus, west wants a Korea style armistice.

Reads like CA-PI-TU-LA-TION.

From the translation of this text, we can see that Putin interpreted the results of the recent Russian elections as a mandate for military escalation until the outlined objectives are achieved.

The attacks are staggering—gas stations, fuel depots, factories, warehouses, ships… and they happen every night, using all kinds of weaponry.

I know Russia is far from achieving its stated and unstated objectives… I know Zaporizhzhia and Kherson remain… we are a long way from Odesa… I know every prediction made since February 29, 2022, has proven wrong.

But if Russia keeps up this pace, and if Kyiv holds out through this winter without surrendering, then that surrender will never happen…

Ukraine’s STEEL Industry WIPED OUT: Russia’s ECONOMIC War Will Be The END of Kiev | Mark Sleboda

–

Russian forces have continued to carry out major strikes across Ukraine, with Monday night’s edition including the use of sea-based Zircon hypersonic missiles, with targets such as a tobacco factory-turned-ammunition plant and an oil refinery in Kremenchug, and two logistics centers in Odessa.

This, as the Finanical Times reported that Ukraine has effectively lost its steel industry after Russian strikes brought production at the country’s three largest plants to a halt.

International Relations and Security Analyst Mark Sleboda noted Kiev wanted an economic war, and now it is getting one. As a result, Russia’s “economic strangulation” in Ukraine has “a much greater chance of ending this conflict sooner, rather than later.”

The European leaders want escalation … they have proven this on many occasions by refusing to even so much as acknowledge Russian grievances and they are busy creating very blatant false-flag attacks against their own people to find something to blame on Russia. This is not who people behave when they want negotiations.

Who remembers the 40 most terrifying days in the Galaxy? And Palantir’s automated attack system in Ukraine?
Well, Zelensky just said at the UN that PEACE MUST BE NOW, because in a few months the Russians will also have artificial intelligence…

“We need to slow down the rapid development of lethal weapons before we reach the next stage, because as early as next year, there is a real possibility that artificial intelligence, and not humans, will begin to determine what happens on the battlefield. And we need peace before we get to that point.”
Zelensky said, as quoted by the publication “Strana”.

Historians will look at this conflict and see that the critical factor in convincing the RF that escalation was the only path which led to victory was the bombing of Wildberries.

I get diplomacy & pragmatism,  but honestly, can the Kremlin suck Donny’s cock any harder than these idiot statements:

“US Secretary of State Marco Rubio confirmed earlier today that Washington had invited Putin to attend the gathering.”

“Russia is “grateful and appreciative,”Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told told RIA Novosti on Wednesday night.”

“Peskov added that a decision on Putin’s possible attendance will be made and relayed through diplomatic channels.“

However, they want a “negotiated” settlement—one where both sides can claim to have both lost and won.

That’s a good summary but I’m not sure about the EU position. It’s clear what they want to avoid: Ukraine losing on the battlefield. They also need to avoid revolt/turmoil in Kiev. They certainly do not want peace. Not only are there no genuine peace talks whatsoever, EUrope needs the Russian threat to exist. “Russian hybrid attacks” is the moral panic / scare of the week, and it’ll go on like this because that’s how EUropean states can get their populations to do almost anything and how EU becomes a totalitarian superstate.

Here are some things that they do want:

1. Any form of break on the battlefield. Russia gave that various fair chances (Minsk I-III) — too many chances, some would say– and, as you say, they now made clear it won’t happen again.

2. Full control over Kiev. This is what the current bitching Zelensky vs. EU over the 90 billions is about. EU is “willing to help” but demands law changes that would mean they take the main seat.

3. Failing a ceasefire, at least something that lets Ukraine get through the winter: “energy truce” and so on.

So altogether, I don’t think that EU wants the conflict to end but that they want to take it to a lower level. Ideally, this war goes on forever. Because Julian Assange is back, here’s a 2011 quote from him that’s so true:

The goal is to use Afghanistan to wash money out of the tax bases of the US and Europe through Afghanistan and back into the hands of a transnational security elite. The goal is an endless war, not a successful war.

For years now in the Ukraine-Russia SMO I have seen the wisdom of the “death by a thousand cuts”  strategy of Russia.

Firstly, big arrow moves by RF would frighten the neighbours into mobilising NATO into direct boots and missiles.

Secondly, to destroy Ukrainian infrastructure (including exports, mfg, steel production, the AFU,  transport, etc) little by little will make its rebuild more costly and slower, thereby lessening any re-militarisation and re-nazification. I actually foresee a situation where a defeated and deflated Ukraine with a sensible new regime may accept reparation work by Russia in return for favorable future security, which would of course piss off the EU greatly. But that may be just the thing Ukraine needs to live in peace in the future.

Thirdly, it has the intended side effect of bankrupting the EU, depleting NATO and US military stocks, destabilising world markets.

Fourthly, it assists the Kremlin in NOT frightening its own citizens into political rebellion.

Fifth, no doubt it TIRES the Kiev regime and its supporters into despondency which will hasten its demise into a deeper, inevitable surrender positioning. No country ever wants an endless war. Sooner or later, Ukies will say “ENOUGH”!

The tiresome tendency of Americans and their fellow travellers to make everything about them is the most singular trait. You’re right, the US isnt just posturing as hard as it can to maintain a semblance of their power or the illusion of it and Russia isnt indulging this staggering stupidity for their own purposes.
They’re supplicants. Sure. What genius.

Again and again, Kremlin/Lavrov have to point out how the U.S. is incapable of resolving even minor irritants.
Like restoring stolen (by Obama) Russian consulate properties.
Restoring flights to and from Russia to make their UN representatives lives a bit easier.
Anything that would show a semblance of sincerity to start a tract of civil relations between the 2 nations.

Instead… the U.S. continues this fake mediator narrative.  Adds irritants as well as lapses START and other much more serious issues.

i agree with your point.  Mine was simply Russia isn’t operating globally from a point of benevolence, they mostly operate from self interests like every other nation,  with occasional benevolence, as demonstrated with some debt forgiveness & grain donations. But they are fighting for Russia only,  and that’s good enough.

From what I know of Western Europeans (60 years of comfort), (1) they will shit in their boots when Russians are at their border (2) they can’t 3d-print missiles or make an army out of money.

And you cannot mobilise the European plebs against the Russians when (obviously) their enemy is within. Decades of traitors. Look at the approval rate of Merz or Macron. Do you think these guys can get their plebs to the Eastern Front? No chance.

Breaking it down:

-AFU offensive in south of Zaporozhye fell flat on its face, large costs, miniscule gains
-Dobropilla surrounded from 200 degrees, falling, the most important AFU defensive anchor point for rest of W/NW Donbass
-Druzhovka and Kramatorsk flanked from the west
-RUAF is taking over the entire NE/E part of Kharkov, this also leads to severing all remaining communication between Kharkov and Kupyansk, leading to Kupyansk exchanging hands too

Frontline update based on Ukrainian military bloggers

The Russians have made some progress on the Dobropillia front, which is to the southwest of the final cities of the Donbass, Sloviansk and Kramatorsk. In late August, Ukrainian military telegrams began confirming the Russian claims that their troops were now entering Dobropillia itself. The villages around it have largely fallen to Russian troops over the past month and a half, and desperate battles are underway for the city itself at this moment. Currently, the Russians are even entering the city from the north, as well as from the south and east.

With Dobropillia increasingly lost, supply lines northeast to Kramatorsk and Druzhkivka are being isolated. The Russians have also been advancing onto the flanks of Druzhkivka and nearby Oleksiievo-Druzhkivka. Interestingly, they haven’t been advancing directly through Kostiantynivka, which they essentially control. This is probably due to the difficulty of urban fighting, and possibly because some remaining Ukrainian infantry groups in Kostiantynivka complicate operations in the city.

The usual chaotic fighting continues in the flat steppe of the southern Zaporizhzhia and Dnepropetrovsk oblast. Despite big Ukrainian claims of retaking all lost territory in the Dnepropetrovsk oblast a few months ago, Ukrainian military telegrams are less sure, with fighting continuing for the ‘liberated’ microvillages. Significant numbers of troops have been expended for nothing.

In the Zaporizhzhia oblast, fighting continues around Huliaipole. More importantly, the Russians have made some progress this past month into Orekhiv, a crucial city. Taking it will allow the Russian salient below the city of Zaporizhzhia to advance without being threatened on its flanks. Over the past few weeks, Ukrainian military telegrams have confirmed Russian progress in Orekhiv, along with some progress on the salient below Zaporizhzhia.

Finally, things are also developing rather badly in the northern Kharkiv oblast. The newly-created Russian salient around Kozacha Lopan continues to expand, with much for the town lost and villages to the east falling over the past few weeks. This salient is only 30 kilometers from the city of Kharkov itself. The situation also continues to deteriorate for Kupyansk, in the eastern part of the Kharkiv oblast.

And throughout the frontline, Ukrainian soldiers are complaining about losing villages that according to the government-curated DeepState map, are 7-15 kilometers behind Ukrainian lines.

Cont’d from #37:

Here are some of the casualties from the latest Miroshnik report that can’t possibly be explained as “collateral damage,” i.e., these were deliberate attacks on civilians:

A 16-year-old girl died following a UAV strike on a private house in the settlement of Liman (LPR).

Yelena Astanina, chair of a precinct election commission, died in a UAV attack in the village of Oktyabr’skoye, Zaporozhye Oblast.

Ol’ga Demyanenko, a member of a precinct election commission, died in a drone attack on a bus in Nizhniye Serogozy, Kherson Oblast.

Precinct election commission chair Viktoriya Maksimova and her family members were injured in a UAV strike on a residential house in the village of Lyubimovka, Zaporozhye Oblast.

A civilian died after an explosive device was dropped from a UAV in the village of Smorodino, Belgorod Oblast.

A man died in a UAV attack on a passenger car in the settlement of Stepnoye, Volnovakha Municipal District (DPR).

A civilian died in a UAV attack on a civilian vehicle near the city of Primorsk, Zaporozhye Oblast.

A woman was killed in a UAV attack on a residential house in the village of Zolotaryovka, Khartsyzsk Urban District (DPR).

Twelve people were injured in a UAV attack on a scheduled bus in Gorlovka (DPR).

Two women were killed and three other civilians were wounded in a drone strike on a scheduled bus on the Lugansk—Novoaydar road (LPR).

It’s very easy to do terror attacks on soft targets, civilian houses, cars and busses. It’s very hard to protect them. No matter how good air defense, no matter how good military, they have a different task. Civilians have free will, are scattered everywhere, impossible to protect.

The only thing would be to remove civilians from within 80km of combat zones into other areas. Still AFU/Nato are able to hit civilians beyond that with starlink guided drones, who could be controlled even from Nato countries. That’s the problem, a lot of these war crimes might even be conducted by controllers in Poland, Germany, Denmark, UK etc.

Two questions the answers to which remain unclear, though Jeremy R-L and others are looking hard at the first.

That first question is, to what extent will Ukrainian internal resistance affect the conflict?

There is the near universal resistance, extending as far west as Lvov, to forced conscription. (“busification”)   The number of those too poor to buy their way out is definitely increasing. Videos now show resistance not only from close family members; entire groups assemble at times to prevent the abductions.

There is also increasing resistance from pro-Russian or at least anti-Kiev elements in the population.  This resistance is expressing itself in more than impromptu resistance to “busification”, certainly in the old Party of Regions area.

The Russians have good Intelligence throughout Ukraine and that Intelligence is coming from more than reconnaissance drones, which in any case are only recently in use.   It’s clear from what gets reported that the Russians know where crucial installations are, location of NATO undercover units, and times and details of arms shipments.   That information could only come from sources on the ground.

As defeat for Kiev draws nearer officials, keenly aware which way the cat is jumping, will be looking to get into the good graces of the Russians.  I recollect writing in to Colonel Lang’s site on that a while ago and though that’s still only unsupported speculation, it’s even more likely now.  The American press reports that the Americans were aware of the danger of leaks to the Russians as far back as 2014 and therefore took steps to ensure the Intelligence and sabotage units they set up in Ukraine were insulated from that danger.  The insulation wasn’t that good back then and will be even less so now.

As to whether there’s a formed resistance organisation in Ukraine, information is necessarily sketchy on that too.  Many in Odessa, for instance, left Kiev controlled territory early on to fight in what were to become the LDNR forces.  Not all left.  Krapivnik goes as far as stating that there are partisan resistance forces currently active within Ukraine.  He instances examples of sabotage he states they are responsible for.  Is this a significant resistance organisation ready, as in France in WWII, to spring into action when the time is right?  Or is it mostly isolated incidents magnified by rumour?

Again, at present speculation is all there is.   It’d be unrealistic, however,  to assume that Russian Intelligence within Ukraine isn’t at least as good as American, British or German Intelligence  – that last very good since 2014 – and possibly better.  Also unrealistic to assume that resistance within Ukraine, apparent from the start, has not increased in line with increasing popular dissatisfaction with the actions of the government in Kiev.

So all one can say is that given officials looking to make their number with the Russians, given increasing dislike of the Kiev government, and given the possibility of partisan groups coming out into the open when the time is right, it’s likely we’ll see Ukrainian internal resistance becoming an important factor as the final days approach.  Not at all a solid answer in any way to that first question but that doesn’t mean the question is not there to be answered and that  it’s not an important one.

The second question is, to what extent does population movement affect the position in Ukraine after the war?

Movement to Europe is already well documented.   Unless the border’s sealed tight by the Europeans there will be much more.  Those looking to escape destitution for a start.  We still don’t know how much of the old Ukraine will become Russian territory but if I and my family were living in what’s going to be left of Ukraine, common sense would force us to look at emigration if we could manage it.

Also leaving will be those at risk of prosecution for war crimes.  We’ve also already seen instances of Kiev officials looking to take their winnings abroad while there’s still time and that’ll increase.   All but a few die-hards in the “ultra”  movements will also get out to Europe or Canada if they can.

All that’s predictable.  What isn’t predictable is the degree of internal population movement.  This comment’s getting too long but I’ve already submitted to “b’s” site instances of large scale population movements out of Kharkov when it looked as if the Russians might be nearing, and movement, don’t know on what scale but substantial, into Russian controlled territory through Kherson to join those civilians the Russians were evacuating from Kherson.  Also the “self-selection” that occurred to an extent when the Ukrainians were evacuating the civilian population of Bakhmut, that self-selection extending right down to the family level with some in the family deciding to leave and the pro-Russians in the family deciding to stay.

That type of internal population movement will inevitably increase as the war draws to its end.  The old multi-cultural and mixed allegiance Ukraine  will cease to exist, even in as far as it survived 2014.  It’ll end up as two regions, both more homogeneous than they were.  Whatever parts of the old Ukraine that get absorbed into Russia proper.  And the remnant.

It’s this remnant that the West is hoping to retain as a platform for launching drone and missile attacks into Russia in the future.  Possibly the Russians will be forced into a military occupation of remnant Ukraine to prevent that.  But that’s something they don’t want to do if it’s at all avoidable.  More likely is that they’ll try to end up with a neutral remnant Ukraine that can’t be used by the West as a drone and missile platform.

However that goes, the current external and internal population movements within the old Ukraine are crucially important.  The regions the Russians decide to absorb will in the main have lost their anti-Russian elements.  That will render absorption less troublesome.  The regions they do not absorb will be anti-Russian still, but without much of their population and with few “ultras”.   Whatever the future holds for remnant Ukraine, that will render it less vulnerable to the West’s intention of continuing to use what’s left of Ukraine as a means of destabilising the RF.

A bleak conclusion.  To me,  worse than bleak.  Tragic.  I think I raised a few eyebrows here by stating my view that the old pre-2014 Ukraine, for all it was thrown together more or less by accident,  had it in it to become the most successful of the old post-Soviet states.  That there was a separate Ukrainian identity, and that that  the old Ukraine was not just a bit of Russia that had happened to come loose.

I still hold that view.  I still hope that’s what’s left of Ukraine will become what the old Ukraine could have been.   But it can’t do that and at the same time remain a Western weapons platform.  The growth of resistance to what is, in truth, a most undesirable Kiev government, and the large population shifts we’re seeing and will see more of,  give some indication even now of how that seemingly insoluble problem will be resolved.

The Exile’s War Nerd did some work on that, of course Paraguay was a sovereign country and not getting propped up from outside. So Ukraine in that sense is worse.

Yes, had it not been for the efforts of NATO (even in Soviet times) plus the gangster Oligarchs, Ukraine could have become one of the top countries in Europe.
But your analysis omits one very important factor — the intentions of the Chabad cult, which now has considerable influence in US/NATO/Israel and the present Kremlin … plus the Oligarchy.
They want — and have long wanted — to acquire most or all of the place for themselves.
The rest of their megalomanic, ethnocentric ambitions beyond “Ukraine” are even worse.

It’s not that difficult. Get rid of Zelensky. Mourn him for a couple hours and announce an election. They could probably get Putin to agree to a two day ceasefire.  Put up the Korean option first and foremost.  Game over. It’s that simple.

interesting ruminations and speculation eo.. thanks.. your post could be titled ”what is to become of a future ukraine?” or something like that.. it seems to me ukraine has been a plaything of the west and russia for a long time here, with the distinction of russia being next door and being a constant thorn in the side of the west – in spite of the breakup of the ussr… perhaps the fact that the west – usa in particular – never got over it’s infatuation with dominance thru war, economic or literal is a big part of this.. that germany and europe are still under the spell of usa ideology expressed directly via nato, is also a huge factor… must have an enemy if you are always preparing for war 24-7…

ukraine is unfortunately a perfect example of what happens when one wishes to capitalize on the spoils of war and is willing to divide a people with a complicated history such as ukraine  – culturally especially.. putting a wedge in place to divide them further seems torturous to me, and yet this is exactly what has been allowed to happen.. zelensky has contributed to this as well, so for a leader, he really has sold his country out for a few pieces of silver and more…  no doubt he has ”had to do it” to remain this pivotal figurehead for the west.. make language laws that alienate one aspect of the culture to  support the most intolerant of the other side….

ukraine is one big mess and the west – usa specifically –  as i see it is the most responsible for it… the uk and germany get runner up 2nd and 3rd prize for continuing in this same ill thought out direction..

Russia’s pace HAS SLOWED DRAMATICALLY in 2026 already, slowed to a crawl.

i agree with your point.  Mine was simply Russia isn’t operating globally from a point of benevolence, they mostly operate from self interests like every other nation,  with occasional benevolence, as demonstrated with some debt forgiveness & grain donations. But they are fighting for Russia only,  and that’s good enough.  The West is another story altogether….”
I often wonder about the Western story. Much of the West’s wealth has come from colonization and imperialism both before the World Wars but to a lesser extent after. A big change has been that instead of producing from Europe, the US and Japan – companies have been moving production offshore to low-wage countries. This has slowed growth and in response the West has adopted the Thatcher/Reagan view of tilting the playing field toward business and the wealthy – to get the economy moving again. That resulted in more-rapid offshoring along with free trade agreements, slower economic growth, weakening of labour, and greater austerity.
What does the West now offer to the world? Stagnant wages, even pricier education, growing inequality and lifestyles were it gets harder and harder for young people to start a family. That doesn’t seem like much of a sales pitch. Back in the 90s there was a view of winning the cold war led to the privilege of being able to do whatever they wanted – because the West was all powerful. After Afghanistan, Iraq, Ukraine and now Iran – we don’t hear much about omnipotence. There was always being more moral than the rest of the world – but than lost its lustre when the West supported the genocide in Palestine and tried to treat supporters of a free Palestine as terrorists. Then there was the West as the sole upholder of international laws and norms – which skidded out pretty hard when it went to a “Rules based Order” where international law was ignored when it wasn’t convenient to follow. I grew up learning about the storied wonders of Western Civilization, but I’m a little confused right now.

Russia Hammers Kiev In Rare Daytime Attacks; Kremlin ‘Appreciates’ US G20 Invite

At a moment Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is still in New York City Thursday, attending meetings on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly, his capital of Kiev has been rocked by fresh Russian strikes, which killed at least two people and wounded over 40 more. The attacks began in the daytime on Wednesday, and appear to have persisted into Thursday.
A missile alert first went out to city residents Wednesday, after which AFP journalists observed hearing over 20 blasts. “Explosions in Kyiv. The capital is under ballistic missile attack. Remain in shelters!” Mayor Vitaly Klitschko wrote on Telegram.

🇵🇱🇺🇦 False Flag attack gone wrong

2 Catholic priests dеаd and 3 others in severe conditions after a knife attack by a Ukrainian national on a Monastery in Jarosław, Poland.

The 31yo man entered Poland from Germany around 2am this morning, the culprit then headed towards the Benedictine Sisters’ Monastery in Jarosław, roughly 7-8hrs from the closest German border.

This wasn’t a random attack, everything points to a pre-planned attack. If fully successful, would Russia have been blamed for this attack? Would the suspect have returned to Ukraine and kiIIed, just like the Monaco female bomber? No evidence to be traced?

Is this one of the EU-Ukraine scheme to drag Europe into war with Russia? Was polish intelligence not aware of such sabotage? There are so many questions, fortunately, the Polish police responded in time to the attack and detained the suspect.

I agree with Stas; a series of precision conventional warhead strikes on critical points across various aspects of the European infrastructure would be crippling.

It wouldn’t need to be a particularly large number of strikes either. Certainly in Britain and across much of Western Europe the concept of backups and resilience have long since been sacrificed on the neoliberal altar of efficiency.

For the wide-eyed and breathless, hoping against hope to see their fetish for atomic mushroom clouds across the continent, there is no need for Russia to do that, European interceptor defences against incoming conventional ballistic and aero-ballistic hypersonic missiles is next to non-existent. Indeed we would have great difficulty even intercepting the latest generations of Russian drones.

Apart from narrative management purposes against their domestic populations, the current Western leadership’s collective agitation for conflict with Russia, and the MSM cheerleading, is pathetic posturing.

Another possible reason Russia is taking its time:

CIA / NATO / Ukraine has created “leave behind” forces throughout eastern towns and cities.  As the Russians move past their location, they emerge and begin covert sabotage and terrorism operations.  Russia would then need to garrison all captured territory, increasing the demand for manpower by the Russian army.  Additionally, constant uncontrollable sabotage and terrorism operations would gradually undermine Russian civilian confidence in the national and military leadership.  This could possibly lead to the withdrawal of Russa from the four oblasts similar to the withdrawal of the U.S. from South Vietnam and Afghanistan.

None of that is happening.  The question is, “Why?”  It appears the glacial pace of Russia’s advance acts as a slow moving fire, burning out all Ukrainian supporters in each new area.  We have seen the Russians take seven or eight months to capture a large town.  All that is left is burned out buildings and small numbers of pro-Russian civilians who hid in basements waiting for their liberation from Ukraine.  All pro-Ukraine soldiers, civilians, and left behind agents are either dead or fled during the months of the unrelenting Russian siege.

Once Russia takes possession of a town, it moves on, fully confident that its rear are is secure and completely supportive of the Russian nation and government.

It must absolutely enrage the CIA / NATO / Ukrainian planners to see their carefully constructed agent networks slowly destroyed.  I bet they come on Moonofalabama and act like “concerned” Russian supporters who “just want Putin to hurry up and win the war.”  The part left unsaid is, “So our left behind agent networks can get to work destroying the Russian rear using sabotage and terrorism operations.”  Meanwhile, Russia keeps winning.

Also, the United States has recently proposed banning diesel exports.    If Russia, according to several trolls here on MoA, has stopped some diesel exports because of Ukraine’s attacks on Russian petroleum refineries, then does the proposed U.S. ban on diesel exports also mean Ukraine has been attacking the U.S. refineries?  Or maybe both the Russian restrictions and proposed U.S. ban are completely unrelated to anything Ukraine has done.

Just a thought.

Thoughtful post, thanks. Regarding the quoted excerpt specifically, as you indicate it is not something where the status is easily visible due exactly to the covert and undercover nature of the activities.

From what I can glean from reading various reports, I would put the position somewhere between the two alternative points, it’s a spectrum not poles, in that the resistance is not as organised (or heavily backed with information and materiel as, say, the French Resistance was) but it is much more than just isolated random individual acts, a work in progress, so to speak. There are those who are anti the current Kiev junta and who have increasing cynicism about the prospects (or even advantages of) EU/NATO membership, but do not see themselves as pro-Russian; proper Ukrainian patriots perhaps, who despair for a future the way things are currently panning out, but are angry enough to try and fight for something better than being Western sacrificial proxies, sent to slaughter by the cronyist regime imposed on them by the West.

I would strongly hesitate to suggest the Russians are actively providing raw materials or equipment (because of the relative lack of unified motivations among those choosing to launch acts of resistance); many of the explosions at TCC offices etc. look from a distance like IEDs, but I do believe there is a steady two-way flow of observational intel between Russia and the anti-Kiev militants.

In one respect, comms are much easier these days, though subject to interception if one is careless, so how much is actually being communicated on closed, secure channels is obviously only known to those with a need to know.

What I can say for certain that there has been a noticeable uptick in the number of cases of charges and prosecution (“served with notice of suspicion” as it is termed) being reported in outlets such as RegioNews of people accused of various acts purportedly aiding/ abetting the Russian forces. But I wouldn’t read that as positive for Ukraine, more as a tip of an ever-enlarging iceberg.

I would assume that these types of operations are extremely closely monitored by the likes of the CIA spy satellites and NSA data brokers. Even if it is actually a network of 1000’s of personnel we would never hear about it out of necessity. I think the days of organized French resistance in WWII are impossible these days. It would be a campaign similar to something like the Taliban or Al-Queda, where on the surface they seemed extremely disorganized, poorly trained, and poorly equipped. Somehow organizations such as that managed to collapse the American presence in Afghanistan.

Personally I think the most interesting of such scenarios would be moles inside of groups such as Azov and Right Sektor. There were several documented cases of such double-agents during the civil war from 2014-2022, and I think that with the lack of available volunteers and the general retards present in these organizations they would be happy to get anybody in their ranks that is willing to get tatted. I wouldn’t be surprised if maybe they managed to get some intel across and were the reason the helicopter rescue op last year with the black hawk down Ukrainian boogaloo ended so spectacularly.

An attack like that will get the populations to be more agreeable to forcibly deporting Ukrainian men back.

Ukraine has already managed to get agents inside Russia for purposes of assassination … they do have at least some foothold, although I’m sure the Russian security do whatever they can to discourage this.

20 Tsirkon missiles in half an hour: Russian Armed Forces begin destroying Kyiv’s energy sector
https://en.topcor.ru/74392-20-cirkonov-za-polchasa-vs-rf-pristupili-k-unichtozheniju-jenergetiki-kieva.html
Last night, the Russian Armed Forces launched a massive missile strike on Kyiv. According to enemy sources, 20 Tsirkon hypersonic missiles, as well as Iskander ballistic missiles, struck targets in the Ukrainian capital in just half an hour. The targets were allegedly energy infrastructure.
Russian military personnel struck Ukrainian military-industrial complex enterprises, telecommunications and logistics centers in Kyiv and the Odessa region tonight. – the Russian military department said in a statement.
After the missiles landed, attack drones began targeting targets in Kyiv. The Geranium roundabout continued for several hours. As a result, numerous fires were reported across the city, which have not yet been extinguished. It is already known that warehouses in Kyiv’s Solomyansky district were one of the targets of the Russian strike.
As a reminder, several days ago, the Russian Ministry of Defense promised to increase the intensity of strikes on Kyiv. The ministry emphasized that this step would be a retaliatory measure against the Kyiv regime’s attempts to attack Moscow during the parliamentary elections.

My only regret is that they never target the dictator zelensky…

Why should they? It wouldn’t do them any good.

The concept that killing the leader brings down the entire system is very Western. It was tried in the past with direct action terrorism (and good intentions) and most recently on February 28 by USA & Israel (bad intentions). Did any of that achieve the goal? No!

In Warmongering Tirade, Zelensky Boasts of Arms Deals Negotiated At UN

https://www.wsws.org/en/articles/2026/09/24/nusa-s24.html

“This year’s United Nations General Assembly has been transformed into a war summit by the US and European imperialist powers, who have turned an institution whose Charter prohibits aggressive war into an arms convention.

The event, which began on Tuesday and featured a genocidal tirade by US President Donald Trump in which he threatened to ‘annihilate’ the Islamic Republic of Iran, was capped Wednesday by the remarks of Ukrainian President Volodymr Zelensky, in which he demanded the military defeat of Russia, boasted of the Russian dead and praised the arms deals concluded at the UN summit.

Zelensky seemed to take Trump’s genocidal speech as a baseline, adding to it a call for unrestricted war against a nuclear-armed state.

‘Today, I signed a drone deal, serious drone deal with Finland, and this is significant. Also today I signed a security agreement with Australia, and drones are part of it too. And we are preparing drone deals with Canada and other countries as well.’

The NATO powers have used the UN summit to massively expand the war with Russia setting the world on course for an increasingly direct clash between nuclear-armed states.”

Nah, he’s dust as far as they are concerned. He committed lèse majesté when he tried to put himself on an equal footing with the Chosen Occupiers over the supply of Patriot systems; only one nation has a righteous entitlement to these and it isn’t a nation with Zelensky anywhere near in charge.

What Zelensky hasn’t realised yet is that when a useful idiot has outlived his usefulness he is just an idiot, but he hasn’t realised this because he is… just an idiot.

He had a window of opportunity back in mid- to-late 2024, after his term expired; call a snap election, using whatever presidential prerogatives he had over the constitution, announce he would not be standing and then vamoose, bugger off or whatever else with his ill-gotten gains.

But no, he let the myth of his reality overtake the reality of his reality, now he is a dead man walking. Even holding full chapter and verse on the Burisma files will not save him now.

He is toast with legs.

Is this a significant resistance organisation ready, as in France in WWII, to spring into action when the time is right? Or is it mostly isolated incidents magnified by rumour?

The tactical situation in the Slavyansk area has deteriorated. The enemy is increasing its presence and actively using drones, affecting Russian Armed Forces supply routes west of Seversk .

➡️The most problematic area is the area of Dibrova and Ozernoye . The Ukrainian Armed Forces have concentrated drone operators there, carrying out strikes, hindering the preparation of an offensive on Slovyansk .

However, these positions are located across the river, outside the area of responsibility of the “South” group, limiting the ability of Russian units to target them. At the same time, the enemy is attacking from Orekhovo-Vasilevka and Nikolaevka in the direction of Rai-Aleksandrovka , where fighting is already underway.

➡️There are reports of Ukrainian Armed Forces advancing from Malinivka , while control of Vasyutinske , Tikhonivka , and Pervomayske remains in question. Meanwhile, Russian forces continue to hold their positions in Yurkivka .

➡️Earlier, the Russian Armed Forces’ tactical position in the Seversky Donets – Donbas Canal area had improved, but enemy advances in the Liman sector have put these positions at risk. The so-called Ukrainian forces are attempting to push Russian units beyond this canal. Against this backdrop, the assault on Mykolaivka has slowed , and positions in Kryvaya Luka and Piskunovka have become vulnerable.

📌The problems in the Slovyansk direction are largely due to the enemy’s advance in the Liman direction , where the Ukrainian Armed Forces took advantage of mistakes in planning offensive operations. At the current pace, the assault on Slovyansk is being delayed by several months—especially while the enemy is deploying drone operators to Ozernoye and advancing on Yampol .

So these means Russia definitely won’t clear the Donbas this year. But will it by the end of 2027?

At this rate, it will take Russia 120 years to reach the military losses of WW II.
