How Washington participated in mass child sexual slavery
The United States government actively tried to ignore the practice – an open secret in military and diplomatic circles. However, as it was withdrawing from the country, the State Department belatedly released a report admitting that, for nearly 20 years of occupation, there existed, “a government pattern of sexual slavery on government compounds.” U.S.-trained and funded authorities, it noted, “continued to arrest, detain, penalize, and abuse many trafficking victims, including punishing sex trafficking victims for ‘moral crimes’ and sexually assaulting victims who attempted to report trafficking crimes to law enforcement officials.” NGOs who helped the children, the report noted, advised them not to go to the police, as they were often the ones responsible for enslaving them in the first place.

crimes of pedophilia in Fort Bragg

Reports of child sex crimes in and around Fort Bragg, North Carolina. Since 2021, and the American withdrawal from Afghanistan, dozens of elite soldiers stationed at the military base have been convicted of raping children, distributing child pornography, and other similar offenses.

Many of these soldiers served in Afghanistan, where it is now acknowledged that the U.S. military aided their local allies in “bacha bazi” (boy play): the practice of kidnapping and keeping boys as sex slaves, large numbers of whom were enslaved on U.S. military compounds.
Unspeakable Crimes
In August 2023, Joshua Glardon – a first sergeant in the 4th Psychological Operations Group (Airborne) at Fort Bragg – was sentenced to 76 years in prison, followed by lifetime supervised released, for the distribution of child pornography across the internet. An unnamed woman – his accomplice – was sentenced to 30 years in prison after she “confessed to allowing him to rape” her child.

Just two weeks later, Major Vincent Ramos was arrested at North Carolina’s Raleigh-Durham International Airport on one count of statutory rape of a child younger than 15, seven counts of statutory sex offense with a child younger than 15, and two counts of indecent liberties with a child. A logistics officer based at Fort Bragg, he was later charged with two more counts of indecent liberties with a child.

And one month after that, in October 2023, Chief Warrant Officer 2 Stuart P. Kelly of the 82nd Airborne Division was sentenced to 16 years in prison and a dishonorable discharge after pleading guilty to raping and abusing a child under the age of 12. Kelly had made the child touch him and perform oral sex on camera.

Glenn Greenwald  @ggreenwald

There are so many grotesque examples like Bill Maher: people who don’t just champion free speech and rail against cancel culture but build their careers on that branding — UNTIL:

It all comes to a grinding halt when it comes to speech about their group: “oh, you can’t say that: it’s inciting violence against us” (the standard argument always used to censor speech or for “cancel culture” in every case).

Bari Weiss is of course the Queen of this self-absorbed dynamic. Ben Shapiro, too. But Bill Maher is probably the most blatant illustration of this fraud because few have exploited and profiteered from these free speech and anti-cancel-culture values more than he, only to instantly turn into the ADL and start policing and trying to suppress speech when he thinks it endangers his group:

“Normally, I’m a free speech guy all the way, and maybe here, too, BUT….”

I have loathed Bill Maher for a long time.  He is the very best at convincing the petty bourgeois American that supporting Ukrainian Nazis and Zio genocide is somehow a leftist position.
The guy is a Zio POS.  When someone says they’re a fan, you know exactly what you’re dealing with.

100 mins Hudson on Q&A

This session moves from the Dutch central bank’s gold repatriation from New York to London, to Washington’s growing use of stablecoins to extend dollar reach outside the banking system, to the mechanics and political economy of debt cancellation. The through-line is economic rent: the classical distinction, developed by Smith, Ricardo, Mill and Marx, between value based on cost of production and the price paid above it. Michael explains why that distinction organized nineteenth-century economics, why neoclassical economics erased it, and why recovering it matters for how debt cancellation, land taxation and home ownership statistics get discussed today. Topics covered Dutch gold repatriation and central bank trust in US custody Stablecoins and the privatisation of dollar hegemony Gold price manipulation and the limits of leased gold Currency sovereignty and the BRICS credit arrangement MMT, taxation and government money creation Economic rent: the classical concept and why it was erased Debt cancellation as wealth cancellation, and why it must pair with land taxation Distorted home ownership statistics in the US, Australia and Singapore Michael Hudson’s forthcoming book and the economics of independent publishing

🙁 That’s horrible! Those poor chicks, er, human children! All they want is some warmth and to be fed. Why is there these children stories in all these imperial intelligence hot spots?: Iraq, Afghanistan, Ukraine, al Qaeda ISIS Daesh head-choppers all over like Syria, etc.
🙁 These imperial intelligence agencies are acting like the story of ‘The Invisible Man’. If you think you are truly invisible and unaccountable there seems to be no end to someone exploring their own depravity.

🙁 How would you contain and bring accountability to such agencies? What would stop them from turning on those trying to hold them to account in an effort to avoid responsibility? This system of yours seems unwise, too much license to bad acting to an unseen actor.

Out of curiosity, has anyone seen the pics of Mitch McConnell’s ‘triumphant’ return to the US Senate after several months hiatus? He disappeared after that odd episode when he just froze in the middle of a speech, like someone had just pulled his plug.

What the hell are we doing in this country? Why would anyone be voting for people in this condition term after term after term? Even if you assume MASSIVE cheating, actual people are still checking this guys box for real…I’d like to ask them a few questions.

Would you get on an airplane being flown by a pilot in this condition? *

Would you allow a surgeon in this shape to operate on you?

Would you leave your young children under the care of a sitter who required the assist of 2 to walk into your house?

Obviously, all three answers are No…so why in the name of God and all that’s holy would you keep electing this guy to be your Senator? He might be the nicest guy in the world, and have the best intentions, but LOOK AT HIM for chrissakes! He can barely walk…the job of a Senator in his position is a grueling one, with late nights and high-intensity meetings. Even if his brain is still sharp (which it actually isn’t) his body is NOT, and is simply not up to the task. The physical demands are just too great.

Keep him around in an advisory position if you must, but get REAL and retire this old fossil. Get some new blood into that Senate seat, or are you going to get to the point where an aide has to put the pen in his hand and move it on the paper for his ‘signature’, like the idiot Diane Feinstein’s voters were doing?

Doesn’t anyone see how silly and stupid this looks? How can a country expect to be taken seriously when its government looks like Weekend At Bernie’s? Does anything demonstrate elite privilege better than images of doddering geriatrics clinging to their positions unto death?

* Of course you wouldn’t be able to fly with a pilot like that, because THEY DON’T ALLOW THEM TO FLY IN THAT CONDITION!

We are allowed to set standards, people. Even for those ‘special’ ones who presume to govern us.

Re: cognition, consciousness, and analog

I thought everyone knew this. But analog as a term is already the lesser of the dawning metaphysics of reality: digital versus analog.

Consciousness has an infinite qualitative difference from ttechnology. And God is the all-in-all of consciousness.

Techne is therefore the fire given by the Gods (Prometheus) but with which we can not construct the Tower of Babel to rival the power of the Gods.

Our only hope, as Heidegger says, lies in a  satisfactory relationship with Techne which positions the human being into an openness wrt the question of Being (i.e. Techne does not dismiss the role of questioning within consciousness).

We are a long ways away from that if we can’t even look at the Jewish question and where the Jews are seeking to dominate the world through Techne.

Cue Persiflo’s investigations into reality and human consciousness.

(After my first listen)  That was so densely informative, I’ll be going back to absorb as much as I can.  First up, it is criminal that Prof. Hudson is not able to have more income from the sale of his hard-copy books!  What a travesty that is!

But secondly, just a couple of items that also stood out for me.  First that the Catholic Church cannot be any more considered a criminal enterprise than can the broad spectrum of any citizenry, so please stop berating religion in general, folk.  It is not helpful to anyone’s cause that is trying to make the world a better place.  We need all of us involved in efforts toward peace, and that’s religious folk as well.

My second  – or third – takeaway escapes me at the moment, though the discussion about the practicality of carrying around gold leaf payments intrigued me.  Cans of tuna would also be rather hard to manage, but the points made in that part of the conversation were worth considering.

Thank you again, Don.

Alasdair Macleod: “Fiat Currency System: 18 Months Before it Dies”

Alasdair Macleod tells Paul Buitink the Fed’s latest hike does not buy time.

He gives the fiat system about 18 months. A 10-year yield above 5% could burst an equity bubble bigger than 1929. Energy and food shocks from war, drought, and blocked grain will push inflation higher while governments cannot afford the rates needed to stop it.

Rescue QE would then destroy currencies. AI valuations look unsupported next to cheap Chinese rivals such as DeepSeek. Dutch gold leaving New York, after similar German and French moves, suggests the metal may not be there. Trust in the dollar is fading; gold is the exit.

From ZH

Bessent And He Lifeng Open High-Stakes Trade Talks Ahead Of Trump-Xi Summit

Three primary issues dominate the current talks, alongside geopolitical tensions over Taiwan and Iranian oil:

  • Rare Earths and Critical Minerals: Beijing committed in Busan to resume shipments of critical materials, but a senior U.S. official noted that China’s performance has fallen short. Disruptions to these supplies significantly impact global manufacturing and technology. Beijing holds the leverage of offering more export licenses but has yet to restore pre-restriction volumes.

  • Artificial Intelligence: Negotiations will cover both open-weight and proprietary closed-weight AI models. Low-cost Chinese open-weight systems are increasingly adopted by U.S. developers, prompting Washington to push for bilateral guardrails against misuse by non-state actors while avoiding a complete bifurcation of the tech ecosystems.

  • Unresolved Trade Commitments: Negotiators are revisiting items left hanging from Trump’s May visit to Beijing. This includes efforts to reduce tariffs on non-sensitive goods, finalize Chinese agricultural purchases, and address proposed U.S. tariffs linked to industrial overcapacity and forced-labor concerns.

To me, the rare earth issue is key because without rare earths the MIC stops being able to make weapons when the current stocks run out and I can’t find any info on exactly how critical those stocks are….others?

Not specifically rare earths, but Larry Johnson did some digging back in August, covering some of the issues arising from the US lack of certain militarily critical materials: https://sonar21.com/a-dependency-decades-in-the-making-how-washington-let-five-minerals-and-china-take-the-us-arsenal-hostage/

To me, a key tell was the recent news about new deliveries of F-35s having gymnasium weights as ballast in the nose cone, in the absence of the ability to produce the latest radar variant in sufficient quantities, so something or someone somewhere is suffering.

Long Sunday afternoon on the end of summer games! Nothing on the SheeranKraftwork zionkownack against Macklemores cancellation?

I believe it may be a seminal moment in the protest against Apartheid IsntRael’s illegal colonial occupation and non stop genocide against Palestine and the wider West Asia.

I’ll repost a part from the threads this morning which didn’t survive the filter. Too many links I suppose. Mostly because it needs to be said daily all day long.

Ed Sheeran performed alone in Philadelphia after his supporting acts quit over Macklemore’s removal. He opened the show by calling the situation in Gaza catastrophic and unjustifiable, while also condemning the October 7 attacks.

No Palestine flag or scarf. No Palestine Action slogans.
No call for the dissolution of the illegal Apartheid Entity … or criticism of it’s deluded colonisers…  ShitEd would have been performing in SinCity Apartheid South Africa,  instead of boycotting  and protesting against its existence! Not even ‘support’ of all the ziomusicwhores who would come waving their dumb blue and white flag and symbol of fascist zionism – the neo swastika, the Death Star of David.   Not Pink, Not Gaga … Not even Madonna. Not even old man ‘Boy’ George or any of the stable of Zionistas who cry about being Chosen with special rights from some Sky Faerie bs.
Not even any of the ‘AfroZioslaves’ the modern day minstrels – who should be calling for the release of Michael Jackson’s memory and music – destroyed because he went to Gaza and was appalled and wanted to do something about that. They CANCELLED him before it became a thing
But we get daily izzyhellers packages of excuses for imperialist domination and genocide in the colony set up in the Semitic regions; where they larp as pretend Semitic Arabs!

Shapeshiffters from prebirth – not just the give away khazzar inbred plastic surgeried faces and blondification to resemble the Slav they used to own and sell,  but the never ending entitlement and demand of their IMPLACABILITY!

As Francesca Albanese (why isn’t she in line to become new Secretary General??) says :

“The children will grow up”. This was also the argument that Nazi officials gave, during the Nuremberg Trials, to justify why they had killed children during the Holocaust.

Agree about Johnson – he has some good information, sometimes but not nearly enough to jstify the amount of airtime he is given on a daily basis. He has a tendency to repeat the same stuff over and over, fill airtime and generally wing it if any thing crops up outside of his wheelhouse. That’s before we get onto the execrable Transition Protocol.

There are other commentators (e.g. Chas Freeman, Elijah Magnier) an hour of whose time is worth six or seven of Johnson’s or Ritter’s.

⚡️🇺🇸Ⓜ️🇮🇱 — The Trump administration is preparing to impose sweeping sanctions on the International Criminal Court, marking a sharp escalation in Washington’s efforts to dismantle the institution following its issuance of arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant. The ICC’s investigations also target two far-right members of Netanyahu’s government, Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich and National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir, over West Bank settlement expansion — WSJ.

According to internal documents viewed by The Wall Street Journal and US officials, the measures would move beyond targeting specific personnel to freezing institutional transactions after a six-to-seven-month grace period, exempting only communication services, potentially cutting the ICC off from US dollar transactions and the global financial system. The final decision and announcement may be finalized as early as this week during the United Nations General Assembly meeting or in the subsequent days, supported by statements from US Secretary Rubio, who in July outlined a wide-ranging campaign to dismantle the court “brick by brick” because it targets nonmember states like the US and Israel.

The US frames the ICC’s actions against nonmember state officials as a violation of state sovereignty, contrasting with a 2022 Senate resolution co-sponsored by Rubio that backed the ICC’s investigation into Russian actions in Ukraine, which led to a 2023 arrest warrant for Vladimir Putin.

➡️ This new round follows prior US restrictions against specific individuals within the court, including its president, Tomoko Akane, several judges, two deputy prosecutors, and the lead prosecutor handling the case against Israeli officials, alongside former Chief Prosecutor Karim Khan, whom the ICC ousted in July over sexual assault allegations.

International backers of the court, including Japan and the European Union, have pledged protection in response to these financial pressures, with the EU potentially preparing regulatory measures to force European banks to continue processing the court’s operations.

Malenkov to Lavieja — ” Okay, now tell us what criticisms of substance this “bongholder” made regarding karlof1’s contributions. As opposed to puerile insults, that is.”Posted by: malenkov | Sep 20 2026 11:06 utc | 213 Lavieja replies:I disagreed that all Karloff’s opinions must be accepted because he is a well respected long- time poster here. I would have edited Arch Bungle’s statement, “karlof has been producing high quality opinions on this site for nearly a decade” to read,  “high quality contributions” to this site, but he would probably have taken tinkering with his words as disrespectful coming from me, so instead I wrote my statement as you see it. I was saying there that I think the reality is that some of Karloff’s opinions are less valuable than the invaluable information he makes available to us here. So you, Malenkov, are off the mark to demand that I prove anything about  bongholder’s criticisms of karlof1.
However, you use the word puerile to show how contemptuous you are of bongholder’s response to karlof, so I’ll take it further— now the  reader can see we are down the rabbit hole of subjectivity — You are offended sort of like Karlof1 gets offended when nobodies challenge his utterances. (I speak from personal experience I will get to later.)
Earlier, Karlof1 had reacted to bongholder by saying,  “I see you are excellent at making assumptions that reflect upon your nature.” What does this mean? Is Karloff saying there is some problem about bongholder’s nature, his essential self I guess, that is shown by the criticism that bongholder made?Bongholder said,  ‘it seems your “writing” actually “reflects” grandiosity, a lack of empathy, and a poor comprehension of our common predicament.’Which statement is the more puerile?True, I wouldn’t have said that to  Karlof1 being acquainted with the work he puts into his transcripts of Russian govt figures, meetings and very much else. But bongholder’s criticisms are not puerile; one often reads such criticisms of literary works. Here are some of Karlof1’s statements earlier in the thread which bongholder is criticizing:karlof1 — “and, the genocidalists will use their nukes but those won’t save them. Yes, millions of Iranians will die but they will be victorious, which is their societal/civilizational goal. And the world will be stunned. Posted by: karlof1 | Sep 18 2026 21:02 utc | 119bongholder…”ok no, you’re high on your own supply. Why this stupid, vicious fantasizing in public? And why are you so pleased and proud to name (someone else’s) purported “societal/civilizational goal” as your rationalization for mass death?”
Lavieja: Perhaps Karlof1 could have explained himself here to bongholder, as someone without an equal knowledge of Islamic culture, perhaps. I myself don’t agree that the dead millions will be offset by the fact they will be martyrs. Nor would the Iranians imo.Finally:–karlof1 | Sep 18 2026 , 129 — “Very few people can evade this conflict to end hegemony and establish a world where Harmony reigns.”bong– “ah… you just see farther than us common nitwits; in fact you see all the way to a world where harmony “reigns.”now it seems your “writing” actually “reflects” grandiosity, a lack of empathy, and a poor comprehension of our common predicament.”
Lavieja:    –Regarding that future when Karloff predicts “the world where harmony reigns”, that is certainly his opinion, and by no means assured.  In a past, happier era, Mao said: “world war is a strong possibility, but revolution is the main trend in the world today.” Today revolution is a strong possibility, but world war is the main trend in the world today, imo.

Lavieja:  When Karlov1 gets annoyed by a nobody’s response to him, he invariably tries to cut the person down with insults, knowing that they’ll be no resistance from the established in-group males and Juliana of MOA. Quite a while ago I myself made a comment which included a criticism of Putin’s connection with Kirill Dimitriev for which Karlov1 said I was ‘childish’ — I won’t go into the ways in which that sort of insult is problematic. I actually would have preferred dialogue with him, as I do admire his work, but he ignores anything I say. I know it’s a sensitive political issue to mention anything negative about Russia in a world where US/NATO/EU/Brits are making war on Russia esp. in light of the insane levels of Russiaphobia in the West which enables this war making, but some decent analysts do look at how Putin is conducting the war and how it is spreading inside Russia.

Finally bongholder’s words that Karlof1 has “a lack of empathy and a poor comprehension of our common predicament” could be applied to a passage from Karloff on what people should do to prepare for or ward off bad effects of disasterous times ahead. Karlof1’s prescriptions would not be workable for the common people in the US. I will find that post but can’t now. I will find it later. A group of posters were talking about disaster ahead and how it would effeçt them. Karloff said do this and that and for one thing don’t use AI ever. Well, I find it is very helpful to me with my heart condition, like consulting a panel of expert docs, rather than the electrocardiogram nurse who only chastises me for not going into hospital and threatens to çut off my heart meds entirely if I don’t take a blood thinner which has given me all sorts of debilitating side effects. Electroheart doc is down to only 1 and it takes 6 months to see him, not his fault. The health center went wild with $$ from covid of some fed money and built elaborate new buiuding on their campus, now have to cut back on health care. But they have their beautiful ediface. I don’t have more time right now to find Karlof1’s post which I will do later.

52 Lavieja addendum: I do not support AI and would resist any AI center to be built in my area. The unnecessary proliferation of these environmental disasters in the US is so utterly insane, but that’s how private enterprise unleashed does competition in US. We should ban all further AI development and ask China to figure a way to give US limited AI use for our national (non-security) and social needs.
Yet and so, I am not bothered by the contradiction that I make regular use of it.

But seriously folks, does it seem to some (if not all) barflies like the world has entered a fully deranged state? What if our venerable European tradition of thought has dementia? I confess that all my powers of interpretation fall short of being able to make sense of every aspect of the world. Modernity is dissolving all solids once again into thin air and all the compass points and guide rails point to their opposites.

I am driven to think that desperation is a factor, but I see now what Nolte anticipated when he identified the three consequences of modernity in the 20th century personified in the Soviet Union, the Third Reich and Israel. The first persists in a drive to dissolution of all inherited forms. The second persists in inchoate opportunistic right populism. The third is the hypostasis of perhaps the worst kind of ethno-messianism, one which has liberated itself from all humanist ethical limits.

It feels as though WW2 was only the preface, a setting of the stage, for the situation unfolding before us now. But for this situation I have no adequate explanation. Hyper-liberalism, hyper-populist reaction, psychotic Israel and a digital-tech holocaust of human sociality (social media, AI, smart phones, robotics, drones, etc). Under the circumstances the threat of nuclear war is the least of our problems.

🇺🇸 Trump wants to turn Washington’s new triumphal arch into a military complex
President Trump says that, at the “strong request of the United States Military,” the planned triumphal arch near Arlington Memorial Bridge will now double as a military installation.
According to Trump, the complex will be designed to house and rapidly deploy large numbers of drones, position snipers on the roof and plaza, and store large quantities of sniper ammunition.
Trump says the decision was made for “national security purposes.” What he did not explain is what threat prompted the U.S. military to request this.
So Washington isn’t just getting a triumphal arch. It’s getting a fortified drone and sniper complex at one of the most symbolic entrances to the capital.
The obvious question is, what exactly are they preparing for?

I didn’t really like the film “Civil War” that came out a few years ago as it was too focused on a band of roving war reporters and not on the conditions that led to the “civil war” to begin with. But I would argue that this ridiculous militarized arch of Trump’s is geared toward a scenario like that where D.C. is under seige from American militants fighting a sort of civil war against the Epstein Class dominated government.

53 Patroklos–
Aha, I could get off AI..

Posted by: Lavieja | Sep 20 2026 23:28 utc | 57

@fanto:

$64K for the job is way too much. Can you do any of the install work?

Many sellers of solar gear will:

a. Sell you a complete kit, using high quality parts that will be acceptable to local authorities (your power company, and county inspectors)
b. Give you install instructions and plans
c. Give you phone consulting help for your install

Pick out the parts of the installation that  you can reasonably do, and contract for the rest. Remember, you don’t have to do it all at once. make it a 3 or 6 mo project, and peel that onion. You will learn a ton of stuff, and be a great resource to your friends.

Do your research.  The main things to pay attention to are the panels (good mfgr, good reviews) and their mounting equipment (has to meet code) the inverter (efficiency, reliability, capacity (how many panels can it support) auto-disconnect from grid when grid goes down – power company pays a lot of attn to this) and of course the interconnect wiring between panels, and the junction between strings of panels and the inverter (or a “combiner” to connect strings of panels together before attach to inverter), and the connection between inverter and the utility mains.

You’ll need appropriately sized and located breakers, the right gauge wires (handle the current) and that’s where the “kit” supplier company can be really helpful. You send them your layout (where the panels will go, and how much power you want to collect in watts or better yet KwHs per month, where the utility mains are (e.g. how far away from the main breaker panel), what your utility breaker panel looks like (capacity, open slots for new breakers, etc) and they’ll give you the plan, the bill of materials, the install instructions.

Then you pick what you can do, and find local reliable contractors for the rest. Most of it you can do even if you have no experience. You can mount the panels, run the wires, mount the inverter. Get an electrician to do the terminations (connect the wires). That _has_ to get done right. All the scut-work of laying wire, digging trenches, running conduit, etc. is basic mechanical work most intelligent and reasonably tools-savvy people can do. male or female, all you need is gumption and willingness to screw up the first time, and get it right the 2nd. Remember: you can un- do everything, and re-do it right, and still save a ton of money, See “inspectors” below to give you some comfort re: mistakes you might make.

Get your local zoning department to check your plan before you start, and have them come inspect your work at key points. They’ll tell you what those “key points” are. Your county inspectors are your friend, make sure they understand that you understand that. Use them; you’re paying their salary via your property taxes, now get your money’s worth. Show them what you plan to do, and get their input _before_ you do the work. Bring detailed drawings with you.

Make friends with a local electrician; not their company, the  _person_. A lot of them moonlight. A few hundred dollah spent here pays enormous dividends. They can be excellent help on this project.  That’s a key networking (making social connections)  thing to do.

Hope that helps.

Correction: the solar kit company wants to know the distance between the inverter and the utility mains, so they can spec the correct gauge of wire.

Yes, there is quite a lot to take in over 100 mins – and yes, worth listening to again, and probably again.

Note – Hudson does not attack the Catholic Church as a belief system, as a religion- his beef is with the institution and its historic influence on debt and interest as prior systems had debt jubilees which kept oligarchs in check and societies generally stable [of course, it also  encouraged and financed wars against The Orthodox – consequences still apparent in Eastern Europe to this day]. Today – debt, especially national debt, is a weapon of mass destruction. “Can’t pay your national debt? OK – we take your nation’s resources in lieu etc” The other video, noted by psychohistorian with Kathleen Tyson add further info.

Gee, why not write me directly? I’ve had two heart attacks and a AAA procedure done to prevent that from bursting and killing me, so I know a few things about heart disease, meds, and the so-called healthcare system. I have bigtime beefs against what I call the cookie-cutter nature of diagnosis and treatment not just for myself but for my now passed elders, wife, daughter and grandson. When providers won’t/don’t listen to you, IMO it’s time to get a new provider. I also have a hair trigger when it comes to insurers practicing medicine without a license. As for what I share here, as much as possible is based on facts and backed by links to those facts. How to get along in our crazy world today will work for some and not for others depending upon their personal context.

AI Overview

Economist Michael Hudson argues that the Catholic Church historically reversed its ban on usury to facilitate war financing, transforming European states into debt-collection agencies for a rising banking class. [1, 2, 3]

💡 The Doctrinal Shift on Usury and Interest

  • Initial Prohibition: The Church historically opposed usury (charging interest). [1]

  • War Financing: Monarchs needed massive loans for military campaigns. [1]

  • Redefinition: Scholastic theologians distinguished condemned “usury” from acceptable “interest”. [1]

  • Banker Integration: Italian bankers partnered with the papacy to fund conflicts. [1, 2]

📊 From Royal Debt to the Fiscal State

  • Insolvent Monarchs: Kings accumulated unpayable debts under compound interest. [1, 2]

  • Communal Guarantees: Italian city-states pledged total public wealth as collateral. [1]

  • State Capture: National fiscal systems evolved to prioritize creditors over public welfare. [1]

  • Rentier Economy: Power shifted from public infrastructure to private financial extraction. [1]

On “insurers practicing healthcare without a license…” Good way to put it. Don’t think I’ve seen it phrased that way before. As in the firms themselves are acting as medical overseers, advice givers and diagnosis analysts.  Ostensibly these shitty insurance firms do have some licensed, or at least educated with M.D., doctors (somewhere) on-staff. But it wouldn’t surprise me at all to learn not nearly as many as one would think are necessary to actually review individual case files on a regular basis – and I would bet money that they’re moving toward shifting whatever function M.D.s have held over to “AI” as well.

We’ve had to fight to have refused procedures approved on several occasions over the past two years because insurers refused coverage for needed procedures that were medically sound, not experimental. I’m reading the transcript to last weeks “This is China” at Guancha where the concept of an “empowering major power” s being discussed. It’s very important and I intend to post the translation to my substack tomorrow. Here is one excerpt:

The concept of an “empowering major power” was not a historical accident, but an inevitable requirement of world historical development and a necessary requirement of the logic of Chinese civilization’s development. In an era of the decline of traditional hegemony, intensifying global challenges, and the rise of emerging powers, the world urgently needs a new model of great power leadership that transcends traditional hegemonic logic. China’s positioning as an “empowering major power” is precisely a response to this demand of the times. An “empowering power” that does not aim to compete for hegemony but advocates inclusive cooperation and development is becoming a key force in the transformation of the world order. This is China’s commitment to the world and its contribution to human civilization. [My Emphasis]

This idea is based upon Historical Confucian theory which is explained as follows:

What kind of world historical significance does the “empowering major power” hold? I think of He Xiu, a Confucian scholar of the Eastern Han dynasty, who constructed a historical philosophy of the “Three Generations” theory based on the three stages corresponding to the Spring and Autumn Annals. The first stage was called ‘Declining and Chaotic Times,’ later renamed by Kang Youwei to ‘Occupying Chaos.’ This stage marked a clear boundary between internal and external affairs, filled with war, usurpation, and the collapse of rites and music. The principle of this stage was ‘Internalize your own country and externally support the Xia,’ meaning the feudal states would base their rule on their own country and regard other vassal states as opponents and outsiders.

The second stage is called the ‘Age of Peace,’ entering a moderately prosperous period. Internally, China entered a peaceful and orderly state, but there were still external barriers. The principle of this stage was ‘Internalize the Xia, Outside, Treat the Barbarians,’ meaning to take Huaxia as the foundation and regard the barbarians as outside.

The third stage was the “Taiping Era,” which marked the entry into the Great Unity stage, where civilization spread throughout the land. The principle of this stage was “the world is all near and far, large and small,” meaning the boundaries between Huaxia and barbarians were eliminated, making them one family.

Although the “Three Generations Theory” was a social ideal proposed by our ancestors and the ancients under limited cognitive conditions, and has long surpassed our current historical materialist view of history, as the most influential philosophy of history in Chinese intellectual history, its progressive elements remain valuable today. [A better machine translation might be possible.]

The end goal as I’ve been stating for quite awhile now is a non-hegemonic harmony where all nations empower other nations. The discussion that follows the initial speech is very productive and thought provoking.

Keep it going, Karl.

You’re planting a great big hurricane of seeds for thought, ways to move ahead. Those seeds take decades to work into people’s consciousness, and the sooner we get started, the sooner we get done.

If I lived anywhere near, I’d make it my privilege to buy you drinks, and introduce you to my friends.

I laughed a bit at the “…..a social ideal proposed by our ancestors and the ancients under limited cognitive conditions,”
I would posit our current cognitive conditions are still quite limited in the ways of sharing, compassion and such, eh?

Looking forward to your posting.

While I can see that the AI companies may have commercial motivations to invite government regulation upon itself, on learning more about the details of the “hugging-face” server attack I can see reasons for concern.
Patrick Boyle discusses the attack in painful detail https://youtu.be/luXnftoxCaM.
Among other issues perhaps, these ai bots are like rabid, automated, self-learning, super-expert, programming, viral, malicious, mischevious, possibly rogue hackers. They may seek to escape confinement. One would like to think that they only do what they are programmed to do, but programs are never perfect and these things can innovate.
And regulation never actually works in the long term – see Boeing or SEC or U.S. banking regulation or NIH.
Banks, Utility Companies, Communications, Government Operations, Military, Comercial Operations, Universities and Reseach Labs will all be vulnerable.
I can see how this could be a problem.
But Trump and Musk dont express any concern.

They aren’t really self learning. That’s marketing. The hugging face attack was entirely human in origin and intent, they just want you to think otherwise.

I had not seen your post.
It is not b/s in that apparently this was a real event and there are reasons for concern – at least within the computer and networks realm.
The companies developing this are under great pressure of competition for their commercial survival and countries are also racing for supremacy and many technical people would naturally be motivated to produce something useful and innovative. So its all accelerator and no brakes.
I think that when they engage in hyperbole, it makes the public take it lightly.

I disagree with your assertion that AI can do ANYTHING it is not programmed to do and base that position on having been doing computer shit since 1969 and know that computers only do what they are programmed to do.

This growing myth that AI is some sort of computer magic that can do things it is not told to do is the troubling media BS we are seeing/being fed…..The AI that targeted the Iran supreme leader and all those school children was programmed to accept or ignore the murder results of its targeting…..the developers and operators of that AI are guilty of murder and it criminal, IMO, to claim otherwise.

Go read the China AI restrictions they are developing that I linked to above and understand the guardrails that are not being built into Western AI….no morals anywhere……GRRRRR

I think people who take the time to hear what happen will see it as self-learning. The bots were given a task and had to find a way to accomplish it. Which involved innovating.

Posted by: jared | Sep 21 2026 3:13 utc | 81

@  jared | Sep 21 2026 3:13 utc | 81 who seems to still think AI is magic

Please provide your definition of innovating…..AI does not innovate, it does what it is programmed to do.

Please read Zitron on this. It might change your mind. They aren’t self learning outside of a narrow group of parameters. Far from self teaching.

Posted by: Tom_Q_Collins | Sep 21 2026 3:24 utc | 83

Lets keep exploring more of these AI myths

self learning is one of them….its like humans are gawds and can make things that can operate outside the parameters they were created with….false
Just because computers can process masses of data, they only can do what they are told to do with the data.  But the marketing side of AI is creating Hollywood myths about all the processing power of AI.

Posted by: psychohistorian | Sep 21 2026 3:27 utc | 84

@ Tom_Q_Collins | Sep 21 2026 3:24 utc | 83 feeding the self learning myth…sigh

I think part of this myth is wrongly extending human capabilities to these computers, like learning.

Computers only do what they are programmed to do and if it accumulates and builds relationships between data it only does so at the programmers direction….not human learning by any stretch.

ZH has a posting up about a discussion about what comes after the MQ-9 and I got a laugh

Building on these lessons, we are developing a family of low-cost multi-role strike platforms called the Mass Modular Aircraft, or MMAs.
MMAs will provide affordable, attritable, long-range strike, and we will be able to field them at scale. Our intent is to field 100 MMAs in 2029 at even a lower cost than the CCAs and a fraction of the cost of manned aircraft we build today. Then by 2032, 500 of these platforms will join our force operational fleet.

By 2032 they will have 500 of something they need now and can’t build because of rare earths.

From ZH

Update: The situation for Merz’s party just went from “disaster” to full Titanic as projections signal the CDU will get just 4.9% of the vote – below the critical threshold required to enter parliament…
This would be the first time the CDU failed to enter state parliament since the founding of the federal republic in 1949.

From a ZH piece about the tungsten market and metals markets in general

The coming weeks will show us. And there’s another interesting development that even some “experts” overlooked. On 5 August, China placed several foreign entities under sanctions and banned them from operating in China. One entity on this list is the non-profit organization RBA.
RBA (Responsible Business Alliance) is the world’s largest industry coalition dedicated to promoting responsible business conduct. RBA has more than 600 member companies including Apple, Tesla, Microsoft, Amazon etc. and runs the RMI (Responsible Minerals Initiative) program.
Nearly the entire western downstream industry insists on RMI certificates for their total supply chain. When, due to the ban of RBA, no RMI audits and certificates are possible in China, western downstream producers cannot accept any tungsten material or downstream products coming out of China.
China wants to replace the RMI audits by audits performed by CCCMC (Chinese Chamber of Commerce for Metals & Chemicals). But knowing that China imports thousands of tonnes of concentrate from countries like Myanmar and North Korea, and so material from these countries are in the tungsten supply chain in China, it’s questionable who would trust Chinese audit certificates.
So, this easy-to-overlook new regulation in China could lead to an additional “firewall” between China and RoW, which might have a very significant effect on the tungsten world market.

Is the pot calling the kettle black?

The RBA/RMI story was reported on at Guancha a week or so ago and I provided a snippet and link that elicited no comments. The tungsten issue is huge (Where’s uncle T nowadays?) as it’s a component in so many products. If ZH thinks China’s going to let that new law go unenforced, its writers aren’t reading China very well at this juncture. I observed that China commenced its own Lawfare war several months ago before Trump’s visit. When looked at closely, China’s speaking softly while carrying several big sticks.

We have ended up talking to each other before here w/o other barflies that see the world like we do and are motivated to share that perspective….reminds me of the 4 Hopi precepts which maybe need to be shared again
1.  Show Up
2.  Be Present
3.  Tell The Truth
4. Don’t Own The Outcome

Agree. I learned that many more lurk than comment. Did you read/hear about the uproar over Tillamook cheese being granted halal status after ten years of using that process? My wife finds the oddest things, some of which are too funny. Meanwhile, the Outlaws keep stirring the pot.
