US been exporting 1.5 million barrels or so of distillate/diesel.  That is 30% of US ditillate production!

I got a question, I’m not being snarky, seeing it’s called the strategic petroleum reserve, why would the USA, specifically the Pentagon, let their adversaries in on how much oil is actually in it, IOW revealing how vulnerable the USA is in terms of energy? And how subject the USA is to internal strife and hybrid war?
 
Of course people on the outside can speculate and insiders in the oil business can make educated guesses, but seems to me anything with the word strategic in the name would be a carefully guarded secret and subject to diversionary information manipulation.

A world wide recession would cause a massive drop in trade, defaults on debit, and Sovereign debit.   Much of the world trade and national is done and financed in US dollars. With no dollars used in trade all those dollars will come back to the USA causing massive inflation and all the bad effects on the economy that come with inflation.
Also Nations severely affected by the recession may not be able to pay debt financed in USD. That  is  called default on sovereign debt. The collapse of sovereign debit of US allies after WW  1  was one of the main things that deepened and lengthened  The Great Depression.

Surely you have noticed the change in Iranian public statements. FFS when the President of the USA says they are thinking about ANNIHILATING Iran, I feel quite sure that the other nuclear nations would be desperate to get Iran to reply, if only to reestablish MAD as a deterrence. If Israel and the USA nuke Iran, then the world as we know it changes and nuclear war become normal. Pakistan would panic that India would feel emboldened to attack it and both Russia and China (and of course NK) would feel under immense threat.
 
If the worst does happen and Israel/USA nuke Iran then the safest (I mean the lest horrific) is that the attacker is whacked back to the stone age too – this means Israel (in this case a proxy for the USA).  MAD is restored.

I think it is a bit more complex. There is still reasonable chance of avoiding nuclear war, and you can be that Russia and China are working hard on trying to avoid it. Israel is trying to encourage it and many voices in the USA and Europe are too.
 
The reality is that ONLY if Israel fears nuclear attack will the most rabid Nuclear attack dog be muzzled. To date it was known that Iran did not have nukes and Israel has been trying to incite the USA to attack before there was some change in Iran, or perhaps before Iran had the missile capability to do serious damage or even reach Israel with a nuke.
 
I think that has changed. My guess is that China sent the missiles and NK the nukes. After all NK gave them to Pakistan.  Iran is now prepared to use them because destruction of Israel as a nation has now become imperative, not just for Iran but for:

• Iran, Lebanon, Syria, Jordan, Egypt, Yemen, Libya and Iraq right now (say 12-24 months) and for
• Turkey, the Horn of Africa, the Gulf states and Pakistan in the next wave. (2-10 years)
• Europe and South America over the next 10-60 years
• Perhaps Israel dream of then taking on China.
• Israel already controls North America

It is obvious that the USA the once great hegemon is about to/has lost its status as top dog. China is poised to take over.
 
80 years from now a new dominant power will arise. I suspect Israel plans to be that power.  China is able to think long term. Such an aggressive and genocidal hegemon is a danger to China.

Strategic Petroleum Reserve (SPR) – 
 
Additional response to ‘Bored’ and why context is important when trying to interpret data and coming to a correct conclusion.
 
For those interested – there are four SPR sites listed on the DOE website.
I picked one at random – the West Hackberry site….
 
Absolute Physical Minimum – 8.8 million barrels (10% of the site capacity) – there are various technical reasons for this amount, pipework needs to be submerged among other things. Guarenteed 100% to damage the equipment at this level.
 
Practical Operational Floor – 30 million barrels – going below this level increases the risk of serious damage to the pumps, valves, pipework etc.
 
Current level (August 2026) – 30.5 million barrels. 
 
Bored – can you see the problem here?
 
The DOE report that the West Hackberry SPR site has almost reached it operational limits. As a result of this, the DOE has restricted the maximum emergency drawdown to 0.75 million barrels a day.
