Houthi routing Saudi, establishing control over Bad al Mandab

Houthis capture Mocha !

Guardian:

“Yemen’s Houthi rebels are making a concerted drive to take full control of the country’s Red Sea coast, claiming control of the key port of Mocha, in the most serious wave of fighting with the Saudi-backed government in years.
Seizure of the coast would be a strategic disaster for Saudi Arabia and the US, taking Iran and its proxies closer to full control of two chokepoints for western shipping on opposite sides of the Arabian peninsula: the Bab al-Mandeb at the southern end of the Red Sea and the strait of Hormuz in the Gulf.”

In direct association with offered topics (Iran, Ukraine, and the rest of the world) there is a paradigm and a historical constant given  through a very interesting idea of the ancient ‘atomic bomb’.
It can be found in subsection 5 of the essay titled:
“Is there a deeper symbolism in Nolan’s interpretation of Homer’s epic?”
on the URL
https://www.researchgate.net/publication/412302143_Aspects_of_symbolism_in_present_cinematic_interpretation_of_the_Odyssey
For illustration, just a few passages:
“There is a parallel with previous Nolan’s film ‘Oppenheimer’ . . . . . . . So did Odysseus with his deception materialised in the Trojan horse. Horses were very important and sacred symbols in the Trojan culture. In the case of Troy, the wooden horse is technology but what is more important and what makes this technology powerful and devastating is the idea standing behind: the abuse of sincere beliefs of Trojans, its beliefs in gods, not expecting that someone could dare to disrespect thier common gods and sacred symbols at such extent. Namely that was the essence of destructive power of Trojan horse if considered as a weapon. It means that ideological weapons are always more powerful than material ones. It is purely Odysseus invention because only he succeeded in destroying Troy, for what the mighty Agamemnon spent 10 years in vain. Similarly, Oppenheimer by its scientific, managerial and even political abilities enabled destruction of Japanese cities and the defeat of Japan.. . . . Reversing the parallel with the ‘Oppenheimer’ one could ask is Odysseus’ deception and its effect a kind of ancient ‘atomic bomb’? Is the power of that antiquity ‘bomb’ in the physical demolition or rather in the abuse of morals and beliefs, when the main laws that make a human human are put under question and misused. ‘Nuclear’ might of that antic ‘bomb’ relies on the spreading of that fraud throughout (as a plague) the world at that time and the establishment of lawlessness, conveyed by the so-called ‘people from the sea’, another expression frequently repeated in the film. ”
There are also some other interesting interpretations of Nolan’s interpretation of Homer’s epic.

The island of Zuhar in the Red Sea has also been captured. Thus, if the Saudis do nothing, Iran and the Axis of Resistance will have full control over two key shipping arteries that are used to transport Saudi oil.
Meanwhile, the stampede of retreating Saudi mercenaries is gaining momentum. The vanguard of the fleeing troops has almost reached Aden, where they are blocked by Emirati-oriented mercenaries.

As long as the direct link works(t is posted multiple places, most the direct link it plays better though)  https://s1.cdnstatic.space/wp-content/uploads/2026/09/gf.mp4 .  This is a video of fighting to the NE,  Al Jawf area, when Saudi backed forces attempted to attack, shows one part of what in some places was called at least a 20 mile line of contact.  This video shows the attack being repelled, captured equipment(larger weapons than the Ansar Allah started with).

To the southwest, the “combat” videos mostly showed traffic jams of the Saudi backed forces retreating, while the Ansar Allah videos are them literally racing through the areas, some with music blaring, like Fast and Furious or Grand Theft City.  Apparently large amounts of equipment captured, along with intact strongholds.  It appears that the Saudi backed forces are still in full rout, and continuing fallback areas are starting to get where there has been “coalition” infighting.  Reports around of possibly other infighting, or breaking down of the different factions working together because lack of support and communication.  Positions abandoned, where the equipment left behind was then used against people who did not get the withdraw orders.  Possibly the islands in the Red Sea have been taken, or at least attacked on the ground.

Dunno if I want to post any of the videos I’ve seen of them dropping dumb bombs from drones before the main hostilities started, while the Saudi backed forces were trying to accumulate.  Some parts of them at least look a bit computer generated.  If they are not, then lots was blown up before it really kicked off by mortar rounds dropped from drones.

https://t.me/syriankhabar/59139#  Reportedly the UAE sponsored mercs that hold the area are telling that the Saudi backed mercs and militias have to disarm to continue to flee the west coast to go to Aden.Almost looks like it’s time for Yemen to get it’s own thread.  It is western backed propaganda that they are just Iran backed proxy forces, though enemies in the region overlap.

Side note, I have not seen anything indicating that the US is moving anything in the direction to support, guess they cannot afford any more “laundry fires”.

In the past couple of days the Yemeni Armed Forces, often purposely labelled as the Houthis or Iran’s proxy instead of acknowledging the true Yemeni nation by Western media, has driven out the Saudi proxies and mercenaries out of the strategic foothold of the Bab el Mandab waterway.

The tribes that used to support the Saudis and Emiratis have changed their allegiance. The PLC commander has submitted his resignation blaming betrayal amongst the ranks that has led to unsustainable losses.

Video on the last thread showed 3 brigades surrendering en masse.

I wonder how much of these has to do with funds from the Saudis and Emirates drying up?

The US has still not responded to the last rounds of hits sustained.

For me, that poses a question:

What, exactly, has the US got left to “double down” with? The carrier fleet is both stretched and found to be largely ineffective; US military bases in the region have become a target-rich environment for drones and missiles.

No naval capacity, no land-based capacity, all they’ve got left is long-range air bombing from B-52s, B-1s and B-2s.

That isn’t doubling down, it is futile flailing.

Posted by: Suresh | Sep 10 2026 20:32 utc | 33  As in the video posted earlier, they were welcomed in Mocha as liberators. Who were holding it before were mercenaries, paid by Saudi, not even Yemen.  They also showed in the NE a punisher hat, and obviously other western merc objects.  Mercs that keep the Saudi backed government in place are not even from Yemen.  A government, only kept in place(for the moment) by foreign mercs is not a legitimate government of a country.  Not to mention that the merc backed “government” has not held the capitol of  the country for more than a decade.  Is looking like soon they will not even hold the unconstitutional capitol the Saudi proxy government moved to in Aden. The president that resigned with the rebellion was put in by an obvious sham of a vote to begin with.  You will have a hard time making an argument that the Saudi/western backed government actually has any legitimacy, or ever had.

EXCLUSIVE: US expands intel, targeting support for Saudi campaign against Iranian ally

More than 100 US military advisers are on the ground in Saudi Arabia providing intelligence and targeting support to the Kingdom in its military campaign against the Iran-backed Houthis in Yemen, multiple sources familiar with the effort say. The assistance comes as fighting on the peninsula intensifies and risks spilling into open war with the Houthis, threatening a second major shipping corridor out of the Middle East……

…..The US is sharing intelligence with Saudi Arabia — as it routinely does already — but it is not participating directly in strikes. The US is also not helping refuel Saudi warplanes or providing other operational support, as it has in past fighting with the Houthis……

….US officials believe there are currently hundreds of Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps officers in Yemen, working alongside the Houthis with goal of ultimately shutting down the Bab-el-Mandeb strait, which connects the Red Sea to the Indian Ocean, one of the US officials told CNN.
CNN previously reported that Iran had been plotting an economic “nuclear option” if negotiations with the US fall apart: getting the Houthis to close that key waterway……

The division was put in place prior to that through the Aden Protectorate:

The Aden Protectorate (Arabic: محمية عدن Maḥmiyyat ‘Adan) was a British protectorate in southern Arabia. The protectorate evolved in the hinterland of the port of Aden and in the Hadhramaut after the conquest of Aden by the Bombay Presidency of British India in January 1839,[1] and which continued until the 1960s.

Just like the Confederates were “the government” of the Confederate States of America during the civil war.  Lincoln could not guarantee or negotiate on their behalf during the civil war with any other nations.  Nor could he arrest Jefferson Davis or Robert E Lee.

I just can’t get my head around the power of Ansar Allah.

Listening to him talk about Ansar Allah and Saudi Arabia trade missile attacks against each other as if Ansar Allah was anywhere NEAR as powerful as Saudi Arabia was jarring.  Did not compute.  And then he showed how much territory that Ansar Allah actually TOOK from Saudi Arabia.  VERY IMPORTANT territory.

I know that INTELLECTUALLY I should not be surprised.  Obama tried to starve them out in an attempted genocide. Biden tried to bomb them out.  Trump ragged on Biden for not bombing them hard enough, bombed them himself, and then retreated a carrier group because… well because Ansar Allah is just too damn strong for the US Navy.

And now Ansar Allah uses its own formidable navy to take important islands in the Red Sea.

Much respect for Ansar Allah.

The truth is that the Houthis inherited the mantle of the Imanate of Yemen which ruledfor something like a thousand years until the Egyptian intervention in 1966 and the subsequent Civil War, in which the Imanate “royalist” forces were supported by the British and other imperialists.
As has been pointed out above the British,  through Bombay, took over the ancient port of Aden, the Lahej Sultanate and much of the Gulf coast in the C19th. After 1920 they helped the Saudis take over a couple of Yemen’s provinces.
The current ‘government’ recognised by -all rise- “The international community” would not last a minute without Saudi and UAE support, largely in the form of mercenaries and sheep dipped pilots from Britain and the US.
Ansarullah does not control all of Yemen’s territory but it does represent the Yemeni people who constitute a heavily armed militia- all Yemeni men are armed and trained in small arms.
Yemen was ruled by Ansarullah’s shiah (not Twelver) Imans when the Normans were preparing to invade England. It is one of very few countries in Arabia which was never ruled by foreigners and never bought by them either.

The internationally recognized government, isn’t.  Can’t get it’s routed mercs out from the west even, because others control the area…  They don’t pick who they are allied with, they are proxies.  As  mentioned, 80% of the population is in areas they do not control, they can claim land area, but most of that is empty.  East Yemen is a small portion of  the population, and it’s foreign support that  keeps their control there, not them.  With the loss of the west coast, the population % is even higher now.  Really most of what they do is control oil fields for foreign interests.  Lack most of the population, and …As for enforcing  the  laws, the Saudi/international  backed government, as no access to the constitutional capitol to the country.  It is not two separate countries as the Confederate States of America and the USA, that is a really poor example as all of Yemen is considered one country, no secession has taken place.  The government of the CSA, and USA were governments of separate countries, lines where jurisdictions ended.  No such thing exists in Yemen, just an internationally  recognized “government” that you are trying to give legitimacy to which even land under it’s “control” it is not who exerts control, nor enforces laws there.   Recently, they sent a government official for a tour in the southern area, they were possibly captured(still have not seen  if they  escaped or not) by  the people who actually control that area.  Same militias that  won’t let their mercs leave the west without disarming.

“yemeni armed forces”

Which ones?

“the Houthi” or “Ansar Allah”
Oh, now I know who you mean.

How about we just skip the confusing part, and talk about it like we always have.  there is no confusion, and nobody is hurt by it.

Calling them the “yemeni armed forces” just causes confusion, and it is unnecessary, since Houthi and Ansar Allah work just fine, everybody knows what you mean, and we definitely don’t need tone policing about it, since those are the terms anybody paying attention has used for 15 years now.

A graveyard of empires. And as I said in the other thread, a lightning advance. The Americans forgot the Persians and Yemenis martial heritage and their Gulf patrons soft venality. And what is Trump but a spineless coward in pink panties bloviating from the worlds largest pulpit? And as he continues his endless talk he brings only contempt, increasingly sharpened in focus, on those who allow him to represent them. I mean hes literally a poor little rich kid who has never been in a street fight inn his life posturing as a tough guy. Ill never take any american ‘rebel’ seriously again.

Gulf proxies, I should say. We can start with that useless ‘King’ in Jordan whose fatass ought to be shaking in his loafers and the rest of that bloated obscene mass of incompetents that rule in UAE, Saudi Arabia and the rest of the nominally Muslim nations who have sided themselves with the Americans and Israelis. Oh and in particular the leader of Lebanon, what a spineless piece of shit.

I totally get where you’re coming from, uw.

But the “newspeak” is the term “Houthis”, Ansar Allah and Iranian proxy.

This was ans is perpetually used by Western sources to delegitamise the popular Government of Yemen.

Any “Government” needing mercenaries to prop up and control the masses is clearly not of the people.

You seem quite distraught that the foreign proxy government in Yemen is not faring so well, being defeated by the Yemeni army.  Much of the military that was actually Yemen people in the areas they controlled, they did not control, but were local tribes and militias that supported them(or were paid to by other countries.  Much  of the  local, independent reporting from the area call the Ansar Allah the Yemeni army.   It would be more clear than instead of referring to the Saudi/Western proxy forces  as the Yemeni army that  you refer to them as Saudi proxy forces.  That is who arms them, not any government in Yemen.

Here, last post from a telegram channel in Persian,

“Early images of clashes between Yemeni army fighters and popular forces with Saudi mercenaries on the West Coast. You should wait for the detailed report of these battles, which will be compiled and published by Al-Harbi, but one of the news teams that accompanys the armed forces on one of the axes has published these five minutes, which I have also republished to have a more accurate and better picture of the developments in this region”  https://t.me/syriankhabar/59153  Sure though, everyone paying attention calls it how you claim…

You are legitimizing a proxy government, that you have been doing it more than a decade, makes it no less so… Yemeni army for the proxy army is calling the foreign puppet government the legitimate one, well more so in insisting that Ansar Allah’s armed forces cannot be called it, when those in the area do.  Ansar Allah and Saudi proxy forces is much clearer than calling either the official name for discussion, but insisting that Ansar Allah forces are not called the Yemeni Army is completely false.

In memoriam of many wasted pixels: Houthis

The Houthis,[d] officially known as Ansar Allah,[e] is a Zaydi[a] revivalist and Shia Islamist political and military organization that emerged from Yemen in the 1990s. It is predominantly made up of Zaydis, whose namesake leadership is drawn largely from the al-Houthi family.

Yemeni forces capture port of al-Ardhi on Bab al-Mandeb: Report

The Yemeni Armed Forces have taken control of the key al-Ardhi port area on Bab al-Mandeb, Iranian news agency Tasnimi reported, citing its correspondent in the capital Sana’a.

The report said the capture on Thursday gives the YAF control of Yemen’s coastline overlooking the strategic Bab al-Mandab Strait and said this could allow forces fighting Saudi mercenaries to exert greater influence over maritime traffic between the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden.

The fall of al-Ardhi marks the culmination of a rapid and highly successful military campaign along Yemen’s western coast against Saudi-backed mercenary groups.

The capture of the Bab el-Mandeb Strait, Arabic for the “Gate of Tears”, gives the Sana’a government unparalleled leverage over maritime traffic entering and exiting the Red Sea……

This has become the daily reality in the Strip since the ceasefire agreement was signed in Sharm el-Sheikh last October. The number of martyrs since the agreement has reached approximately 1,400, with more than 4,500 wounded, 40% of whom are children and women. We hear no comment from the UN Peacekeeping Council or its representative, Mladenov, as if the matter doesn’t concern us, as if the arduous negotiations that led to the El Alamein agreement were merely to provide Netanyahu and his government with cover to continue the killing and destruction. Mladenov, in his position as the UN High Representative for the Peacekeeping Council and with his complete silence, personally bears responsibility, because on every occasion he has been quick to unjustly blame the Palestinians. We are not responsible for the Israeli elections and their results. Silence is complicity, and this situation is unsustainable”

I remember it like it was yesterday.  In 2014, the elected president of Ukraine fled the capitol when the rioters and snipers caused panic.
The US and its vassals, along with the media, instantly proclaimed that he was no longer the president and the coup leaders were the legit government of Ukraine.

The very next year, Ansarallah swept into Sana and the leader of Yemen fled the capitol to Saudi Arabia.   The US and its vassals, along with the media, declared that he was still the legitimate leader of Yemen.

11 years later, the Official Narrative is STILL that the  legit government of Yemen rules from a hotel room in Riyadh, and the actual government of Yemen are the “Houthi rebels”, who cause a lot of trouble, rebelling and all.

Go ahead, look it up on a US search engine.  You will be told that the legit government of Ukraine is the Zelensky regime, and the legit government of Yemen, the “internationally recognized” government, operates from Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
