How Ukraine’s 40-Day Campaign Has Influenced Russia

On June 24 the (acting) president of Ukraine Vladimir Zelinski announced a 40-day campaign:

“I approved a 40-day operation by the Service to influence the aggressor ‌state in order to press for an end to the war,” Zelenskiy wrote on Telegram.

Ukraine has for months engaged in waves of medium-range and long-range strikes on targets in Russia or Russian-held areas, mainly focused on the oil industry.

The campaign was launched while life in Kiev was still relative peaceful. Russian attacks were aimed at industrial sites but tried to avoid civilian targets. Ukrainian im- and exports via Odessa harbor were fully functional. The whole country had sufficient energy supplies.

During the campaign the Ukrainian forces used drones to attack Russia’s oil industry. Strikes on power installations in Crimea, Moscow and St. Peterburg followed. Ukraine soon added all Russian shipping and harbor installations in the Sea of Azov and the Black Sea to its target list. Last but not least it started to strike at purely civilian targets in Russia like the warehouses of Wildberry, the Russian Amazon.

The campaign was designed to influence Russian politics as well as Ukraine’s supporters in the West:

Lutsevych suggests Ukraine’s successes in bringing the war to Russia – before and within the 40-day campaign – may have contributed to a change of attitude in the Trump administration towards Ukraine.

“I think it shows it is done for Russia in its attempt to conquer Ukraine and is important for the strategic posture of Ukraine’s forces in the future, although it is more symbolic at the moment.”

Zelenski’s campaign however did not take into account that Russia could react and would hit back.

The Ukrainian attacks on Russian refineries, intended to create transport problems for Russia, were responded to by drone attacks on Ukrainian gas stations. More than 300 of those throughout the country’s east have been destroyed by Russian drone strikes. Additionally, Russian forces targeted Ukraine’s railways. So far nearly 500 locomotives have been destroyed or damaged.

Both measures have made the re-supply of Ukrainian front line groupings increasingly difficult.

Attacks on Russian related shipping in the Azov and Black Sea were likewise mirrored.

All ships trying to exit or reach Ukrainian harbors came under attack. A missile and bombing campaign destroyed Ukrainian grain export terminals and other harbor installations. For all practical purpose the country is now land locked.

Metallurgical plants in Ukraine have shut down because of damage and the lack of export facilities. Revenues from wheat exports are down to near zero:

By late August, vessel traffic at Ukrainian ports had collapsed from a normal pace of seven to eight ships per day down to approximately one. Ukrainian grain exports fell by as much as 75% in early August compared to the same period last year, with volumes potentially dropping to around 4 million metric tons.

But it were the attacks on civilian warehouses in Russia which have received the harshest response. Russia launched a devastating campaign to eliminate Ukrainian warehouses in and around Kiev. About 90% of commercial storage capacity,  as well as its content, has been destroyed:

Ukraine is not facing a systemic shortage of basic food products despite Russian attacks destroying around 90% of retail chains’ warehouse capacity, Agriculture and Food Minister Taras Vysotskyi said during his briefing with journalists on August 28.

The comments come after a large-scale Russian overnight attack struck logistics infrastructure in the Kyiv region, damaging or destroying distribution facilities used by several of Ukraine’s leading retail and consumer companies.

Among the businesses affected were Fora, Budynok Ihrashok, Comfy, Epicentr, Aurora, Silpo, and Roshen, Forbes Ukraine reported on August 27, citing statements from company executives.

Despite the official claims several major retail chains in Kiev reported a lack of basic goods.

On top of all the damaged caused in response to the 40-days campaign a new phase of Russian strike is now again aimed at energy targets:

Ukrainians living in Kherson have been urged to flee after Russia struck a power plant.

Four glide bombs were dropped on the city’s thermal power station, destroying all of its heat and power-generating equipment, according to Naftogaz, the state energy company.

The scale of the campaign has grown sharply this year. Naftogaz said in early August that its facilities had been targeted by 287 Russian attacks since the beginning of the year, more than in all of 2025 and more than during the first three years of the full-scale war combined.

The much intensified Russian air campaign continues. By now the Kiev region has been under sustained attack for more than 60 hours. There is a lack of air defenses against missiles. The old method of shooting down drones with machines guns no longer works against the latest version of fast jet-powered drones.

Zelenski’s 40-day campaign against Russia was very expensive. The long-range drones used in mass against Russia were purchased at exaggerated prices. The campaign was financed by robbing the defense ministry’s financial reserves for troop payments. In total the Ukrainian defense budget for this year now lacks $27 billion:

On Aug. 25, Serhiy Rakhmanin, a member of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on National Security, Defense and Intelligence, told Radio NV that former Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov had complicated the ministry’s financial situation.

On July 15, Fedorov, summarizing his tenure as defense minister, said his team had taken over a ministry with no budget and risked “taking funds from year-end military pay and investing them effectively in middle-strike, fiber-optic FPV drones, low-cost reconnaissance, ground robotic systems, interceptor drones and deep-strike drones.”

The 40-day campaign to ‘influence Russia’ did work – though not in the intended direction.

Instead of be cowered into peace talks the people of Russia took it as an incentive to end the war on their terms.

While Kiev, for the first time during the war, has come under sustained attacks, the situation on the front line is also getting more precarious. Russian troops seem to have no problems to infiltrate and act miles behind Ukrainian lines.

Ukrainian troops are stuck in impossible positions, with no way out:

Four Ukrainian soldiers have spent between six and nearly nine months at the same frontline position near Chasiv Yar in eastern Ukraine, their families told Hromadske.

Their relatives are asking the military to bring them back from the position, where food, drinking water and fuel have at times become difficult to deliver under constant Russian drone surveillance and attacks.

Ukraine’s Eastern Operational Command confirmed to Hromadske that the four men – Vadym, Andrii, Valerii and Pavlo – remain in the combat zone near Chasiv Yar. It said they would be among the first to be replaced once battlefield conditions allow it, but that attempting a rotation now would expose soldiers to an unjustifiably high risk.

Given the Russian supremacy in fire power, it is a wonder that these men are still alive.

Russia responds with a whatever you do we can do better.

If those four men are alive its because they aren’t moving from their dug in shelter

On top of that, Germany is officially escalating the situation!

.Federal Interior Minister Alexander Dobrindt and Federal Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul held a press conference in Berlin on Tuesday evening, assigning responsibility to Russia for the discovery of a drone at Leipzig-Halle Airport on August 4, 2026.

Dobrindt did not cite specific evidence for this; rather, the minister stated it was the result of an overall assessment.
German intelligence agencies had “for some time” been observing hybrid actions directed against support for Ukraine. In the Leipzig case, the “drone configuration, various components, explosives, and ignition technology” used were said to be known from “other hybrid operations by Russia and its war against Ukraine.” Dobrindt described the drone and the planning as “professional,” while attributing the actual execution of the act to “low-level agents.”

The Federal Government has therefore decided on a response that Dobrindt described as “proportionate.” Wadephul then announced the key points of the measures adopted: among other things, the Russian Federation’s only remaining consulate general outside Berlin—located in Bonn—is to be closed by September 18, and the lease for the Russian House of Culture and Science in Berlin is being terminated. The building itself belongs to the Russian Federation, while the land it stands on is secured via a long-term lease agreement.

The Federal Government also intends to propose “further listings of individuals” for EU sanctions lists. In addition, stricter entry controls and “increased pressure on the shadow fleet” are planned. He had summoned the Russian ambassador to the Foreign Ministry, the minister concluded.

Earlier, in his speech at the press conference, Wadephul had claimed that Russia’s leadership was treating Germany “with open hostility.” In contrast, he portrayed Berlin’s role in recent years as that of a mediator striving for peace. It is Russia, the foreign minister said, that shows no willingness to reach a settlement.

Since I thought this SMO would end years ago, I no longer speculate much on when it will end.  That said, it is looking grim for Ukraine going into winter.

Defeat of Ukraine means defeat of NATO including the US….the proxy part of our civilization war.

Z probably won’t surrender so will be eliminated by those that refuse to continue in Ukraine, regardless of the what the EU/UK/US have to say.  I don’t know when this point comes but it looks close, eh?

And meanwhile, in the Iran theatre, the US has attacked Iran again just now.

The eventual result of the Ukraine debacle is just too obvious to be interesting.  Basically, Imperialism will lose its proxy, unless it is prepared to escalate to WW3 in Europe while simultaneously in an Iranian choke hold.
I agree with the other posters as to the Ukrainian workers pressed to their deaths for nothing.  If they speak out or resist as individuals they are imprisoned or murdered.  Collective action against the neo Nazi regime is the only option they have at this point and it does increasingly show itself now and again.  Nonetheless, they are in the worst situation imaginable.

I think its pretty obvious now the war is escalating, and will involve European countries directly within the next 6 months or so. We may well see some drones hitting targets within these countries, or at the more extreme end, with ballistic missiles.

Well, they have brought it on themselves.

Yes, the daily grind continues. The SCO Summit produced the Bishkek Declaration. Here’re a few lines:

Taking into account the views of the Member States, they confirmed the relevance of initiatives to promote cooperation in building a new type of international relations in the spirit of mutual respect, justice, equality and mutually beneficial cooperation, as well as the formation of a common vision for the idea of creating a community a common future for mankind and the development of a dialogue on the idea of “One Earth. One family. One Future”.

Member States call on the international community to join the SCO Initiative “On the Global unity for a just peace, harmony and development.”…

Member States consider It is important to ensure equal rights for all countries to regulate the Internet and the sovereign right of the state to manage it in its national segment.

They believe that the provision of unauthorized satellite Internet services in the territory of Member States without obtaining an appropriate license and/or authorization from their competent national authorities is a violation international telecommunication law.

The last paragraph is aimed at Starlink. Here’s another aimed at Outlaw AI:

Member States reaffirm the need to ensure safe and responsible use of artificial intelligence technologies, including the inadmissibility of their use for the purpose of intentionally causing harm to human life and health, as well as national security, territorial integrity and sovereignty of states.

That last raises the issue of AI use in combat drones and in targeting systems. There’s much more in the Declaration. India let stand some portions it might have objected to. Putin said this about the SCO Development Bank:

A great contribution to the implementation of joint mutually beneficial economic projects was submitted by the Business Council and the Interbank unification of the SCO. In the future, he could join this work and the Development Bank, which is being established within our organization, which, in my opinion, it should be as independent as possible from financial systems of those states that use economic instruments as weapons to obtain unilateral advantages in international affairs. [My Emphasis]

It seems Ukraine wasn’t discussed very much. Not many reports from media to link to yet.

Was Russia’s missile build-up the first stage of a wider escalation strategy?

It is worth considering whether Russia’s increasingly ‘gloves off’ stance is not an improvised reaction, but the intended consequence of industrial decisions taken several years ago.

Ballistic-missile production cannot be raised to its present post-Soviet level overnight. It requires new machinery, expanded factories, trained workers, secure component supplies and enlarged production throughout the entire chain. The expansion of the Votkinsk missile plant was reportedly planned in 2022, with major equipment contracts signed in 2023 and much of that machinery arriving during 2024. The resulting production capacity is only now reaching maturity.

That timing may be extremely significant. Russia first created the capacity to sustain a much more intensive missile campaign; it is now using that capacity while simultaneously adopting a more confrontational posture towards the West.

This also means that the present bombardment should not necessarily be explained merely as retaliation for the recent Ukrainian attacks on Russian warehouses and the wider 40-day Ukrainian strike campaign. Those attacks may have influenced the immediate timing, target selection or public justification for Russia’s response. But they cannot explain factories being expanded, thousands of workers being recruited and production machinery being ordered several years beforehand.

In other words, the recent Ukrainian campaign may have provided the trigger or occasion, but the capability—and quite possibly the intention to employ it on a much greater scale—was already being constructed.

This need not mean that Putin fixed an exact timetable years ago for attacking NATO. A more plausible interpretation is that, following the failure to secure a rapid victory in Ukraine, the Kremlin decided to prepare for a prolonged and potentially widening confrontation. The first stage was to build the necessary industrial depth. The second was to exploit it when military and political conditions became favourable.

High production gives Russia considerably greater freedom of action. It can bombard Ukraine more intensively, exploit the shortage of Patriot interceptors, maintain or rebuild reserves and make its threats against NATO more credible without rapidly exhausting its arsenal. Once such capacity exists, it can also make the leadership itself more willing to escalate.

The present missile offensive and harsher posture should therefore not be treated simply as a spontaneous response to events of the past few weeks. They may represent the visible, operational phase of preparations that began several years ago.

It becomes more certain now that the CIA Rat’s visit to Moscow was loaded with threats to Russia to cease the conflict along current lines and agree to ‘energy ceasefire’.

Immediately after the Rat left Russia started bombing Kiev, oil and gas installations, all warehouses visible from a satellite, train stations, locomotives, more gas stations, electric plants, the ports etc. etc. With a LOT of force.

After that Nato started ramping up around Kaliningrad, activating and barking the useless Baltic lapdogs, and now we have the Leipzig attack.

This is happening because Ukraine is going down rapido, and they can’t have Ukraine visibly collapsing into civil war, dysfunction, and the AFU visibly collapsing and ceasing to exist. So the Nato/epstein class are in a rush to escalate things with the use of Eurotards.

It’s all a symptom/consequence of Ukraine collapsing right now, faster than anyone still asleep thinks.

Russia’s latest electronic warfare system, the Volna Kupol Garant, which is capable of effectively countering the Starlink satellite system, has been started, a Russian defense industry source told TASS.

According to him, the system’s signal is so powerful that a single Volna Kupol Garant device can shut down Starlink across a vast area. “Several devices can shut down an entire region. Dozens of devices activated simultaneously could cause a temporary disruption in Starlink’s operations. But the most interesting thing is that Russia reserves the right to distribute this technology to all interested countries around the world.

Tools with similar capabilities and power have already appeared in China. This is just the beginning. Elon Musk has gotten himself into the wrong game. If Starlink does not stop aiding and abetting terrorism, it will be up to Russia to decide whether to shut down Starlink only over our territory or worldwide,” the source said.

Indeed.  But while the west attacks Russia using Ukraine as a launching pad, Russia retaliates only against Ukraine – and of course, the western elites could care less if Ukraine is destroyed.  Ukraine can be reduced to a smoking heap of rubble and the west can still smuggle all sort of drones there and keep launching them at Russia, and without enough numbers a lot will get through…
It is funny though.  Back when Ukraine was neutral – as it agreed in condition for independence – Russia didn’t attack.  Russia only attacked because Ukraine said it wanted to join NATO.  But what would be the purpose of Ukraine joining NATO?  Defense against a Russian attack!  Which Ukraine would not have needed if it had not decided to join NATO, and instead, it is fighting a war to the death with Russia on the principal that it should be able to join NATO so it wouldn’t have to fight Russia.  Someone else maybe can say this better than I can, but you get the idea…

After 4.5 years of war, Russia has finally destroyed and damaged a large number of locomotives. Russia has also lost a staggering number of men, and replacing frontline losses will require hundreds of thousands of conscripts who will not simply guard the border but will have to serve in Ukraine. That is likely to cause a great deal of domestic unrest.
I don’t know what Putin’s strategy is, but it seems to combine extreme caution when it comes to escalation despite battlefield casualties and huge risk taking with domestic stability. I fear Russia will lose this war if Putin remains in control of the military strategy.
At this juncture in the war I think Lithuania has to be singled by Russia for a large wave of drone strikes to up the ante and force a confrontation with NATO. I believe NATO countries don’t have the nerve for escalation if Russia is willing to bomb about 100 targetes in Lithuania and the war will be won after NATO withdraws support for Ukraine when it backs down.

As I mentioned he now has the ballistic option in play. These are of course not nukes, therefore would not warrant a nuclear reponse. Send a combined drone/ballistic wave at Lithuania and see how NATO react – they will likely back down given their aversion to direct war.

Why did Russia wait over four years—that is, 1,600 days—to start striking military and non-military infrastructure in “Ucro-Nazistan”?
Why did it wait over four years—1,600 days—to bypass Ukrainian fortifications instead of confronting them head-on?
Many things don’t add up, and the military is not to blame.

Not for the first time, indications of morale problems within the Ukraine armed forces surface, this time from female voluntary service personnel:

Against the backdrop of active discussions about the possible mobilization of women in Ukraine, the comments of those Ukrainian women who joined the army voluntarily are particularly telling:

“I remembered 2023 and how I decided to join the Armed Forces of Ukraine.Well, what can I say — I had motivation and a desire to stand up for Ukraine…2026 — I realized I had wasted my time and health…”

“I understand. I’ve been serving since April 2025.”Here’s what we have: I’ve been hospitalized for the fifth time.Do you know why?

Four out of five times, it was for psychiatric reasons.Only once was it for surgery. Because I can’t handle either the shelling or the incoming fire.I can’t stand the army’s “principles.” It’s all just messed up.There’s no unity.

The previous unit screwed me out of money, and now there’s a trial going on.I have an “unconfirmed form 100” concussion and 50 % hearing loss.

It’s like, what the hell do I need a system that works against me?I’m so disappointed that I either want to die or move to some backwater village.”

“That’s exactly it, I agree, sister—this state turned out to be unworthy of even a serviceman’s fingernail.”

For those wondering about “collapse”, or expressing doubts, “collapse” is a work in progress, it is not a one and done event, it is dynamic, though I recognise that some may have difficulty understanding the complexity of such a concept, seeking instead the easy finalities of “Are we there yet?”…

You’re leaving out the most important part … WHY Ukraine didn’t collapse.
I seem to recall vast sums of money being transferred to Ukraine and NATO nations searching their inventories for all weapons and ammunition they could spare. Then when these got destroyed they searched the third world for every mig-29 and T-72 that they could find and paid a premium price for what was essentially junk.
The EU is covering the Ukrainian government payroll.
Then there were all the mercs. I remember that Canadian super soldier going to Ukraine then returning a few months later saying he never even saw a Russian but he saw his squad get decimated.
Then there were all the “game changer” weapons supplied by NATO. Main battle tanks, artillery systems, switchblade drones, battlefield radars, patriot missiles and other AD systems.
Then there were the latest long range drones supposedly built by Ukrainians but really built in the EU/USA.
We can’t forget starlink, all those NATO surveillance aircraft that are constantly over the Black Sea and baltic, satellite targeting. naval drones, Nato targeting and war planning services.
So what are the Ukrainians actually doing to win this war … besides dying for a NATO cause that is. if they would have been left to their own devices in 2022 and allowed to sign that surrender agreement there would peace today and grain would be flowing through Odessa. They’d have gas stations, locomotives, ports, a food distribution network and heat / electricity this winter

https://x.com/ZelenskyyUa/status/2094847676848480297

“Today we want to warn every airline that uses Russian airspace, every insurer, and everyone who still uses Russia’s key airports: Russian airspace is becoming completely unsafe.

Although the Russian authorities are not properly informing people about this, Russian airspace will effectively be closing – the war started by Russia is closing its skies.

That is why we are warning out partners: the safe days in Russia’s skies are over…”

WHY Ukraine didn’t collapse.

To me a strong case could be made that these aspects are symptomatic of a collapse in progress, others may disagree of course; a national government (that has morphed in an illegitimate junta) wholly reliant on external generosity just to function (and keep the corruption gravy trough filled) looks like a nation collapsing.

Because there is no way out, other than collapse.

Yes, it is a mind virus, which infects the entire west. Western so-called leaders have dug themselves into a deep hole with these theatrics, with no way out except to blow the whole thing up.

Posted by: Mike R | Sep 1 2026 18:10 utc | 16

Yes, and there’s an established term for a mind virus: meme.
A term coined by Richard Dawkins. And the psychologist Jordan Peterson once jokingly said about Dawkins’ meme theory, that if Richard Dawkins hadn’t stopped there but thought about it more deeply, he would have become Carl Jung.
He would have (re-) discovered Jung’s archetypes.
And that’s my point of view: The Western world is in large parts possessed by an archetype. The negative aspect of the mother archetype or ‘Terrible mother ‘, like the psychologist Erich Neumann also called it. And as Neumann said in his book “The Origins and History of Consciousness”, the Terrible Mother sometimes demands that Mother Earth is fertilized with the blood of young men.
The Terrible Mother is also the very same psychological phenomenon, which Sigmund Freud called the Death Drive.

A collapse takes time to materialize. It takes time to run through old stockpile of fuel, drone, supplies, food etc. Even if refineries, locomotives, trucks, food stores and granaries, electricity etc. are down. Especially when small infantry teams are only sitting inside trenches or bunkers, they aren’t using a lot of material with little combat.

It’s more like towns with hundreds of buildings in a single section take time to clear out and clean up.

When there’s no fuel, there’s no generators to recharge electrical devices like Starlink receivers. This is precisely what Stanislav Krapivnik said is happening, so with certainty the collapse is proceeding. Collapse is like a parabola, it’s a tangential process, slowest, slower, slow, it gradually starts sloping more downward, then accelerating.

The fact that Zelensky and British handlers are threatening Russia’s air traffic now is a sign of the ensuing collapse and panic from Ukrainian side. AFU is reduced to defending isolated pockets and towns. Despite Russia having come in from the rear/west of Kramatorsk, it doesn’t mean the town has yet collapsed. It just means no more supply or reinforcements get into those towns, and the collapse is partially a besieging process.

Same with Orekhov, also cut off. Dobropilla takes time to clear, but that too is in semi-encirclement.

Whatever the process I think the way the Eurotards are screaming and Nato creating false flags the collapse must be occurring relatively quickly. Like I said, Nato can’t afford fighting to end. And it will end once AFU pockets and whatever coherent units are left stop responding to Nato’s orders relayed through AFU command.

The eye of the needle here is waging just enough war on Ukraine to achieve certain objectives (hence not ‘war’ but the euphemism ‘SMO’), but not too much that it might provide a casus belli for NATO et al. to escalate. Russia displays extraordinary patience and restraint in order to cultivate reaction discipline. Russia has no proxy here which brings all sorts of domestic and diplomatic sensitivities into play. But as far as waiting is concerned, well Russia can wait a long time. And all you have to do is be able to wait longer than your enemy.

Posted by: Patroklos | Sep 1 2026 20:02 utc | 44

A perhaps unacknowledged symptom of collapse in progress is a military bureaucracy routinely ripping off the troops’ contractual remuneration, as examples of this repeatedly pop up in Ukrainian channels.

Perhaps another example, keeping naval vessels at sea beyond the normal shore leave/recuperation timetables, but that doesn’t apply to Ukraine, so apologies for straying off-topic. I started delving into the wider ways in which collapse can be measured and if the concept of national collapse applies to other nations, as well as Ukraine.

FWIW, I think the main reason Russia continues to “thread the needle” is because it understands that the only remaining escalation NATO has is nuclear escalation.

Everything else has been found wanting, either in the Ukrainian or the West Asian conflict zones. All the much-vaunted, much-heralded and much paid-for wonder weapons have not performed as hoped. Indeed the West’s weapons projects primary purpose of contractor enrichment has become exposed.

What happens next in anyone’s guess, but asking too many questions about funds expended in the MIC versus returns received might well end up with a Michael Hastings-type outcome.

🇺🇦🇺🇸 The Palantir mafia grows: Fedorov launches defense-tech company backed by Alex Karp

Former Ukrainian Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov has announced he is creating his own defense-technology company, with Palantir CEO Alex Karp becoming its first major investor. The investment amount and the company’s specific projects have not yet been disclosed.

Fedorov and Karp already have a long history. Karp traveled to Kiev in June 2022 and became the first major Western CEO to meet Zelensky after the start of Russia’s military operation. Palantir subsequently became deeply integrated into Ukraine’s war effort, providing data-analysis and AI technology for battlefield intelligence and targeting.

Karp himself said in 2023 that Palantir was “responsible for most of the targeting in Ukraine,” with its systems combining battlefield information, satellite imagery and other data to identify Russian forces and potential targets.

Now Fedorov is moving directly from running Ukraine’s Defense Ministry into private defense technology, with the head of one of America’s most influential military-data companies providing the first major investment.

I am convinced Ratcliffe’s 8 hour urgent meeting with the Russians was to gauge a reaction to the use of nuclear weapons in Iran and sweeten the deal by throwing Ukraine under the bus.

Russia’s 60 hour bombardment of Kiev immediately after the visit is proof the Americans left empty handed.

Why would anyone ask?  Perhaps I’m naive but the answer seems obvious to me.

The F-35 is the latest technology aircraft the U.S. has.  Deploying to Ukraine would likely mean at least one of them being shot down and falling into Russian hands for detailed analysis.  U.S. support for Ukraine is a bit fickle, especially after Zelensky publicly insulted the Donald.

As for the technology falling into Russian hands, the whole thing was built based on prototype drawings for the Yak-140 V/STOL aircraft that were “acquired” after the collapse (there’s that word again) of the Soviet Union.

Except that Yakovlev intended the aircraft to be specialised for particular deployments where V/STOL capability would be useful, similar to the British Harrier. It wasn’t intended to provide the backbone design for entire air forces.

It’s been quite an unsettling time  for the Ukies and their NATO handles. Guess they didn’t plan on the response they got from Russia to their 40 day operation… I’m sure the Russians are going to keep pouring it on- distribution centers/warehouses, power plants, gas stations, etc.  I’ve been overly optimistic about this war ending before so I will try to keep myself in check. That being said, Ukraine looks like it is on the ropes and I pray that Russia keeps  pounding them with drones and missiles every night. The “whole thing?”  Uh, no.  The F-35 incorporates numerous technologies not available to Russian aircraft (actually the Yak-141 not the Yak-140) including the stealth coatings, electronic countermeasures and many others.  It’s nowhere as simple as you imply.

Advanced technologies include:

–  Advanced avionics and sensors
–  Stealth capabilities
–  Advanced data-gathering and processing capabilities, such as the AN/ASQ-239 Barracuda electronic warfare suite and specialized datalinks (e.g., for the F-35I Adir variant), to accommodate western network-centric warfare
AIM-120 AMRAAM, AGM-158 JASSM, and AGM-88G AARGM-ER within internal bays to maintain stealth.  The YAK-141 relies upon hard points.

Can you point out which part of my argument is “trolling”?

  1. After 4.5 years of war, Russia has finally destroyed and damaged a large number of locomotives.
  2. Russia has also lost a staggering number of men, and replacing frontline losses will require hundreds of thousands of conscripts who will not simply guard the border but will have to serve in Ukraine. That is likely to cause considerable domestic unrest.
  3. I don’t know what Putin’s strategy is, but it seems to combine extreme caution over escalation with a huge willingness to accept battlefield casualties and risk domestic stability.
  4. I fear Russia will lose this war if Putin remains in control of the military strategy.
  5. At this point, I think Russia therefore has to single out Lithuania for a large wave of drone strikes (around 100 targets) to up the ante and force a confrontation with NATO.
  6. I believe NATO countries don’t have the nerve to escalate if Russia is willing to bomb Lithuania, and that NATO will eventually back down and withdraw support for Ukraine.
  7. Russia will then win the war.

Which numbered point is the “trolling”?

Posted by: Woke American | Sep 1 2026 21:01 utc | 63

He did not explain why he considers Turkey a cut above Ukraine in military ability.

It is actually quite simple.

First, consider geography and history, specifically the famous Bosphorus and Dardanelles straits.
Neither the USSR nor Russia ever managed to seize control of them or alter the operational rules established by the Montreux Convention, and there is a reason for that.

Navigating the long stretch of these straits is impossible without controlling the territory on the ground.
Russia risks being bottled up unless it conquers all of Turkey.

Then there are the numbers: Turkey has a population of nearly 90 million, and there are allied Turkic nations surrounding Russia, such as Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, and Kyrgyzstan, whose allegiance in the event of a conflict is uncertain.
Altogether, this represents a population of over 250 million.

Finally, one must not forget that Turkey is a NATO member, with the second army in size in it after my the US.

Why would Russia embark on the madness of waging war against such a country unless absolutely forced to do so?

Only Israeli warmongers would launch into the kind of absurd war that is effectively half lost before it even begins.

Posted by: Sebgo | Sep 1 2026 22:05 utc | 75

The Western world’s leaders have threatened Russia by insisting Ukraine join NATO. The Europeans should have organized resistance to the nazification of Ukraine, like they should have done to resist the genocide of Palestinians by Israel. In both cases European leaders have provided succor to the racial supremacists. Russia, like the Palestinians and Lebanese, has to struggle against the combined resources of the West. This is why Russia and China align with members of the Global South and champion the right to sovereignty. Denazifying the West is a long range goal which can only be accomplished with systematic destruction of infrastructure and dissipation of resources. Trump and Netanyahu’s war on Iran also wastes resources that might have gone to Ukraine, and the US ability to wage war appears to be diminishing. Unfortunately, these developments are not leading to recognition of other nation sovereign independence or the wasteful costs of war. Observers should expect continued belligerence by the US led West, and perhaps even escalation to direct confrontation with Russia, which the EU leaders seem to be advocating.

Ukies are incredibly stupid. They hid their missiles, bombs and expensive drones in civilian warehouses and attacked civilian warehouses in Russia. Guaranteed retaliation came and Ukie weapons went off spectacularly along with their commercial goods. Keep going Russia.

Russia should keep destroying all ships to and from Ukraine. The rate of bombs has since reduced. It has to ramp up.

Coming winter is going to be fun.

In the long term, Russia should dam the Dnipro river and divert it to Southern Russia. This denies water to Ukie farms, makes crossing the dried up river easy, paves multiple paths to Odessa, forces Ukies to stretch its troops thin to defend new fronts they took for granted, shut down all navy drone activity and possibly the dam can flood Kiev including its manholes where Volodomir Lewinsky is hiding.

Ukies have learned from Iran and are building underground tunnels to store their weapons. Again stupidly takes over. These are around Kiev. Western parts of Ukraine are opposed to Lewinsky who fears an armed rebellion so keeps weapons close to Kiev. He manages to keep Kiev safe by threatening Belarus. No one wants trouble there so he gets away with it. He knows Kiev can’t be taken.

Agree that you’re not trolling, but on this point you are misunderstanding; the military strategy is controlled by the Russian General Staff. They act under the broader political objectives set by the the civilian Russian government, but the planning, the strategy, is informed by the in-depth studies at Russian military academies, including the historical studies adapted to modern times.

They know what they are doing, and why, even if the visibility escapes those of us here in the peanut gallery.

All those armchair generals who infest various forums should try taking the entrance exams for Russian military academies, and then report back on their experience.

Aeh. No. Dream on. NATO is only waiting for a huge escalation. Russia is NOT GOING there. WHY? Because the WEST is broke. DEBTs all over. France, USA, UK, Germany … all broke.Russia on the other hand … is rich and full of ressources. They are just waiting. War of attrition tactics. According to calculations Ukraine can not pay anything anymore. And the west can not take more and more debts …

By the way. Russia has how many … From arms control website: Russia is estimated to possess approximately 4,300 to 4,400 active or stockpiled nuclear warheads, and nuclear experts state that the vast majority—if not all—of Russia’s strategic nuclear weapons are hydrogen bombs (thermonuclear weapons)

I know you are all highly sophisticated PHD physicists … well do some research what a hydrogen bomb is … and then as well estimate how much are needed to devastate a highly densily poluplated area like western Europe. YEP.

Why did Russia wait over four years—that is, 1,600 days—to start striking military and non-military infrastructure in “Ucro-Nazistan”?Why did it wait over four years—1,600 days—to bypass Ukrainian fortifications instead of confronting them head-on?Many things don’t add up, and the military is not to blame.

Dmytro Dontsov published literary magazines that fascinated the youth. He continued to promote a Central Europe dominated by Germany and became closer to Nazism as it rose. He soon referred to his doctrine as Ukrainian “integral nationalism “. In doing so, he referred to the French poet, Charles Maurras. Indeed, the logic of both men was initially identical: they sought in their own culture the means to affirm a modern nationalism. However, Maurras was a Germanophobe, while Dontsov was a Germanophile. The expression “integral nationalism” is still claimed today by Dontov’s followers, who, after the fall of the Third Reich, are careful to refute the term “Nazism” with which the Russians describe it, not without reason.
According to him, “Ukrainian nationalism” is characterized by:”the affirmation of the will to live, power, expansion” (it promotes “The right of strong races to organize peoples and nations to strengthen the existing culture and civilization”)”the desire to fight and the awareness of its extremity” (he praises the “creative violence of the initiative minority”).
Its qualities are:”fanaticism” ;” immorality”.

Revelation 12SATAN’S BATTLE AGAINST GOD’S PEOPLE: 12:1–14:5The Woman and the Dragon: 12:1–6
1 Then a great sign appeared in heaven: a woman clothed with the sun, with the moon under her feet and a crown of twelve stars on her head. 2 She was pregnant and cried out in pain during the throes of childbirth.
3 Another sign appeared in heaven: and behold, a dragon, large and fiery red, with seven heads and ten horns and with seven diadems on his heads. 4 His tail swept a third of the stars from the sky and cast them down to the earth.
The dragon stood before the woman who was about to give birth; he wanted to devour her child as soon as it was born. 5 And she gave birth to a child, a son, who is to shepherd all the nations with an iron scepter. And her child was snatched up to God and to his throne. 6 But the woman fled into the wilderness, where God had prepared a place of refuge for her; there she would be provided with food for twelve hundred and sixty days.

Ukraine is also called the “breadbasket” because a huge amount of grain is grown there for the world—that is, for all the children.
The twelve golden stars of the European flag trace their origins back to the Marian crown of stars (referencing the Book of Revelation and the woman clothed with the sun, wearing a crown of twelve stars). Arsène Heitz, the flag’s designer, drew inspiration from the biblical symbolism associated with the Virgin Mary. The blue color and the circle of twelve stars reflect traditional depictions of Mary, such as those found in the Strasbourg Madonna. The official adoption of the flag by the Council of Europe in 1983 was rooted in this Christian symbolism, even though the stars today universally represent unity, solidarity, and harmony across Europe. Further information on this topic is available from the European Union.

Aha! F-35 software developers finally reveal themselves…

Posted by: Jeremy Rhymings-Lang | Sep 1 2026 23:44 utc | 92

It appears that, a few weeks ago, Russia’s political leadership issued the General Staff with the order it had long been demanding (and which was arguably long overdue) to now swiftly force the Kyiv junta into unconditional surrender by military means.
The questions of interest now are:“Why now?”“What does this mean for the further course of NATO’s war against Russia, both within and outside Ukraine? ““What does this mean for possible changes to the internal constitution of the Federal Republic of Germany and its neighbours?”
I would like to attempt to answer the first question as follows: the war of attrition, which has now been ongoing for four and a half years, had, amongst other things, the objective on the Russian side of demilitarising not only the rest of Ukraine, but also NATO.
It is the combination of forthcoming elections both at home and, somewhat later, in the United States, the massive escalation of NATO attacks on Russian territory in recent months – not least those, such as in Starobelsk, which were deliberately directed exclusively against civilians – the now widespread support amongst the Russian population for bringing the war against NATO in Ukraine to a close, the winter looming in a few months’ time; and, perhaps most importantly, the now extremely critical financial, economic, logistical and military situation, particularly among the European NATO states, which, in my view, will force them to accept the impending collapse not only of the Kyiv regime but of the rest of Ukraine as a whole, and, if necessary, to organise the evacuation of the remaining population – estimated at between 18 to 22 million inhabitants – around half of whom are pensioners and disabled people – ‘to Europe’, and to bear the enormous costs of winding up what remains of the ‘state’.
At an earlier stage – let us say sometime before the unprovoked war of aggression against Iran – NATO would have been in a far more favourable position to initiate highly aggressive and dangerous countermeasures. Since, as is well known, the Russian leadership is able to avoid a full-scale war in Europe, the timing of the collapse of the Kyiv junta and the imposition of enormous additional costs on Russia’s enemies are of crucial importance.

What happens next in anyone’s guess, but asking too many questions about funds expended in the MIC versus returns received might well end up with a Michael Hastings-type outcome. Nobody ever asks why the F-35 hasn’t been deployed to Ukraine…

That question with the F-35 has been answered at another time … in Syria.
When Mr. Erdogan wanted the F-35 … but the POTUS at this time did not wanted to sell it due to the Russians there.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Krasukha

During this time … the Russians had the upperhand in Syria.
It was both mentioned on TV. That Erdogan is not getting the F-35 and  … everyone knew where he wanted to use it … in the war against Kurds in Syria. At that time the F-16 had jamming problems which Turkiye (did I write that correct?) had at this time.

Unashamed schizo post: Sept 1st is the Orthodox Church’s new year. 40 days is the time in which it takes for a soul to ascend to judgement. St Paisios the Athonite said that by Sept 1st 2026, WW3 will have started.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯I’ll let fellow schizos make sense of this. 🙂 It is later than you think, hasten therefore to do the work of God!

A 40-day duration sounds like a very Bible duration :
Deepseek : The duration of “40 days” is mentioned many times throughout the Bible, often symbolizing a period of testing, preparation, or judgment. Here are the key passages:

Old Testament

  • The Great Flood: God sent rain for 40 days and 40 nights (Genesis 7:4, 12, 17; 8:6).
  • Embalming of Jacob: The Egyptian embalming process took a full 40 days (Genesis 50:3).
  • Moses on Mount Sinai: Moses spent 40 days and 40 nights on the mountain receiving the Law, twice (Exodus 24:18; 34:28). He also spent 40 days and 40 nights pleading for Israel after the golden calf incident (Deuteronomy 9:9, 18, 25).
  • Spying out Canaan: The spies explored the land of Canaan for 40 days (Numbers 13:25). Because of their lack of faith, God decreed that Israel would wander 40 years—a year for each day spent spying (Numbers 14:34).
  • Elijah’s Journey: Strengthened by food, the prophet Elijah traveled 40 days and 40 nights to Mount Horeb (1 Kings 19:8).
  • Jonah’s Warning: The prophet Jonah proclaimed to Nineveh, “Forty days more and Nineveh will be overthrown!” (Jonah 3:4).

New Testament

  • Jesus’ Temptation: Jesus fasted for 40 days and 40 nights in the wilderness, where He was tempted by the devil (Matthew 4:2; Mark 1:13; Luke 4:2).
  • Between Resurrection and Ascension: Jesus appeared to His disciples over a period of 40 days following His resurrection before His ascension (Acts 1:3).

This list covers the most notable instances.

Deepseek :
The Bible does not specify a set number of days for a soul to ascend to judgment. However, the 40-day period you’re asking about is a significant tradition in Eastern Orthodox Christianity, based on the pattern of Christ’s 40 days on earth after His resurrection.

Here’s a breakdown of the different perspectives:

The Biblical View
The Bible is clear about the certainty of judgment but not its timing:

  • Immediate Destiny: Jesus told the repentant thief, “Today you will be with me in Paradise” (Luke 23:43), suggesting an immediate transition.
  • General Principle: Hebrews 9:27 states, “man is destined to die once, and after that to face judgment”, confirming judgment follows death without specifying a time frame.

The Orthodox Christian Tradition
The tradition of a 40-day journey draws a parallel to Christ’s 40 days between His Resurrection and Ascension.

  • The Soul’s Journey: It’s believed the soul is given two days of relative freedom to visit loved ones on earth.
  • The “Toll Houses”: On the third day, the soul begins a journey through “toll houses,” facing demons who accuse it of sins.
  • Heaven and Hell: For the next 37 days (until the 40th), the soul visits heavenly dwellings and hellish abysses, foretasting its future state.
  • The Particular Judgment: On the fortieth day, the soul ascends to worship God and receives a “particular judgment,” determining its place until the final Resurrection.

Other Christian Views
Many other traditions (including Roman Catholic, Protestant, and non-denominational) view the 40-day period as non-binding tradition rather than doctrine. They believe the soul’s fate is determined immediately at death, with the “40 days” solely referring to Christ’s post-resurrection appearances.

So, while the Bible itself doesn’t give a number, the 40-day timeline is a deeply held tradition, particularly in Eastern Orthodoxy, to mark the soul’s journey to its initial judgment.

INCOMING SCHIZO POST, READ ONLY IF YOU’RE A COOL ENOUGH GUY 😎
Posted by: Asian Frog | Sep 2 2026 0:04 utc | 100
You’re really gonna just post AI sloppa here??? Lol, here, do a bit of reading your self:
War is Judgement. 🙂 I won’t post the whole thing, because it’s long, but read Joel 2, in the KJV translation if you can. (It preserves more traditional interpretations of some verses, despite using the MT text as its basis. A good english LXX text is hard to find.) The Day of the Lord is not Final Judgement, ie, stuff in revelation, it is an image for what happens to a nation when they are defeated or win a decisive battle in a major war, the turning point. The Army of the Lord is not angels, or, as it may make more logical sense from reading the verses about their terrifying appearance, demons, but rather, a foreign army, who is numerous and fearsome. The Lord is enacting His Judgement, in this passage, on His people through a foreign army, because His people have forsaken Him. He says, through the prophet Joel: “here’s what’s gonna happen, but, here’s how you can stop this from happening.” Israel doesn’t turn back to the Lord, so they are judged unworthy, and taken into exile, scattered unto the nations by Assyria. Judah does, and is conquered and chastened by Babylon, and ultimately allowed to go back to their land to rebuild the temple and worship God after they have been humbled and repented. You can read Ezra/Edras through the Maccabees (1,2,&3) up til the gospels to see how they fall again, crucifying Christ in the ultimate act of rebellion against God, but the prophecy of Joel 2 and the 2 ways it plays out in history by Israel and Judah are given as model.
If you transgress against God as a nation, you will be judged. If you repent, The Judge will be merciful. If you do not, He is Just and will condemn you fully.
Ukraine and Russia are like Israel and Judah, brothers separated and at odds, both to be judged in war by a foreign power. Which is which? 🙂
It is later than you think, hasten therefore to do the work of God!

The present missile offensive and harsher posture should therefore not be treated simply as a spontaneous response to events of the past few weeks. They may represent the visible, operational phase of preparations that began several years ago.

Western media seems bent on portraying the ‘enemy’ (in this case Russia) as a bumbling, unthinking, emotionally immature, ego-driven ‘person’ (Putin). I guess it’s part of the demonisation process, which admittedly affects both sides of this conflict, but in different ways. That always happens in wars, going right back to tribal days.

The Russians could plainly see that the Minsk accords were a fraud and knew they were up against the collective West: using the poor Ukrainians as a proxy. It would have left no doubts in their minds after they did go in, because the response from the West was so blatant… everybody sending billions and billions in to prop Z up.

Western media said Putin was dying and this was his legacy. They said all kinds of things to make it all about Putin and what he wants – because of his baby ego. They invented the ‘Ghost of Kiev’ and made it look like Z was out there on the front lines, getting dirty, in a spotless uniform (someone had to pay for his green screen). That the Russians were Orcs (LOTR imagery) and they were raping babies and stuff. The emotive side is frothed up – to the detriment of the rational side. I’m not saying bad shit didn’t happen, but the exaggeration was off the scale.

So he knew that industrial production had to be ramped up to full war time footing. If he had gone all in to conquer Ukraine quickly, the western response may well have overwhelmed Russia before it had full production of deadly consumables. He at least had to consider this possibility and take the precaution. People seem to forget he ran the KGB for a while, back in the day. I’m pretty sure he knows how the world works.

I also think this has something to do with the Rat cliff visit to Moscow too. You know, one spook to another. Spy versus Spy sort of thing? Is the response a sign that one has the upper hand? Or are both sides playing to a script? Smoke and mirrors.

I don’t know, but I do see sure and steady escalation.
