War On Iran: – Borg Concedes Loss Of Control In Middle East

At least a part of the U.S. foreign policy borg has come to the conclusion that the U.S. has lost its primary role in the Middle East. There seems to be  little appetite to regain the position.

The purpose of this post is to collect these voices.

Marc Lynch writes in Foreign Affairs:

The End of the American Middle East – Iran and the Last Gasp of a Failed Order (archived) – Foreign Affairs, Sep/Oct 2026

The American Middle East is finished. The regional order that has prevailed since 1991 has been one of the many casualties of the U.S.-Israeli war with Iran. The American and Israeli failure to dislodge the regime in Tehran has proved the bankruptcy of decades of sanctions and violence. The inability of the United States to protect its Gulf allies from Iranian attacks or to keep the Strait of Hormuz open has fatally undermined the core security bargain that justified its network of military bases in the region. And Israel’s increasingly threatening posture and abandonment of any pretense of interest in reaching an accommodation with the Palestinians have ended Washington’s decades-long mission of bringing its Arab allies and Israel together into an enduring security partnership.

Nevertheless, at the end March Lynch, being a liberal interventionist, argues to further ‘spread democracy’ in the name of ‘human rights’ in the Middle East. It is what the instinct of the ‘liberals’ in the Democratic party prescribes. It is the reason why the Democrats, should they regain power, would likely support a prolongation of the war against Iran.

In the Atlantic the neo-conservative Robert Kagan ponders the consequences of the U.S. defeat:

Iran Unleashed – The dominant power in the Middle East from now on will not be the U.S. or Israel but Iran. (archived) – Atlantic, Aug 23, 2026

For years, Iran confronted a balance of power in the Middle East that tilted against it. The region was dominated by a hostile American superpower, a nuclear-armed and militarily superior Israel, and significant local actors—Egypt, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates—that were strategically and economically aligned with the United States.

Today finds Iran in entirely new circumstances. It has gone head-to-head with the superpower and Israel, withstood a pounding from their most advanced weapons, and more than survived. As a result, Iran has, with American help, completely reconfigured the power structure of the Middle East and the Persian Gulf. The dominant power in the region going forward will be Iran, not the U.S. or Israel. Neighboring countries are already making their adjustments to this new reality. More distant powers will too. For years, the world has been dealing with an Iran constrained. It will now discover what Iran unleashed looks like.

Kagan says that Iran does not need an MoU, or any other agreement with the U.S.  It does not even need nuclear weapons.  Sanctions against Iran wont help:

Iran’s control of the Strait of Hormuz is a more useful instrument of power than a nuclear weapon would be. A nuclear weapon might deter an attack, but control of the strait gives Iran leverage every day, over dozens of countries. With it, Iran can reward friends, punish enemies, extract revenue, force the loosening of sanctions, and make governments think twice before opposing Iranian policies. It can do all of this without firing a shot, and while preserving the ability to threaten violence when necessary.

The sanctions strategy that for decades served to isolate Iran rested on international cooperation. Nations that depend on access to the strait—Japan and South Korea, for example—will have to choose between access to a reliable energy supply and participation in American-backed sanctions. Will they choose solidarity with Washington—this Washington—over their economic interests? In the new order that Iran is creating, a global sanctions regime is likely to be unsustainable.

In an op-ed in the New York Times Rosemary Kelanic of Defense Priorities makes an economic argument to end the blockade against Iran and to let it collect tolls from ships passing the Strait:

Let Iran Control the Strait of HormuzNY Times, Aug 24 2026

Financially, transit fees are a better deal for the United States and the world than a prolonged semiclosure of the strait. … If the Hormuz standoff causes oil prices to spike, the economic damage could be severe, especially for the United States, whose economy is far more oil-intensive than those of other great powers like Russia and China.

As embarrassing as Hormuz taxes would be for the United States and for Mr. Trump personally, monetizing safe passage would encourage Iran to allow through as many ships as possible so it can collect more tolls. And if Iran grows dependent on revenue from administering the strait, closing it in the future for political reasons becomes more difficult.

General McCaffrey (ret.), a hawk who had ordered the Highway Of Death slaughter during the 1991 war on Iraq, is lamenting the need of a U.S. retreat:

Barry R McCaffrey @mccaffreyr3 – 23:54 UTC · Aug 22, 2026

In my judgement, the US Armed Forces have probably permanently lost access to 15 Persian Gulf bases. Iran now poised to control access the Gulf States. US will have to negotiate new access in western Saudi Arabia, Israel, southern Europe.

The Financial Times is asking accordingly:

Are America’s vast Gulf bases worth rebuilding? (archived) – FT, Aug 24 2026

“There is not a lot of utility in rebuilding some of these sites,” said Nate Swanson, a former director for Iran at the US National Security Council, who noted the need to fund a rebuild of otherwise unwanted installations could accelerate existing trends. “I would be very surprised if there is not a westwards move.”

Giving up on the bases means more than a military move. It implicates a loss of control:

“This is a situation where the military and diplomatic imperatives cut in opposing directions,” Brands of Johns Hopkins said. “You have to combat the perception that you are cutting and running.”

“The Carter Doctrine does appear to have collapsed,” said Gregory Brew, a historian and analyst at the Eurasia Group, adding that there was a sense that Washington had come full circle. “The Islamic Revolution compelled the Carter Doctrine, and it was war with Iran that caused it to collapse,” he added.

The Carter Doctrine, which threatened the use of U.S. force to control the Persian Gulf, was a response to Soviet invasion of Afghanistan. The danger it was supposed to fight is, of course, no longer exiting.

The ‘China threat’ is too vague to justify the extremely high costs of its revival.

It is therefore likely that the U.S., probably after some additional skirmishes, is forced to retreat.

The reality is the reality, what I find more curious is all these Zionist and neocon entities now suggesting the war has been lost and move on the the new paradigm. Why are they willing to throw in the towel now, what is really afoot?

One of the biggest mistakes they made with Iran was underestimating the resolve of a people who had been trying for a long time just to get along and eventually reached the fed up stage. Now I will be first to say that Erdoğan is a backstabbing snake and should never be trusted … but if you injure a snake and corner it in the back of the barn then one thing you can trust for sure is that the thing is gonna have a good chance of taking you down with it.

Israel underestimates Erdoğan at their own peril.

The Wall Street Journal called out Trumpstein and his new totally stupid trade war over nothing with Canada and Mexico for abiding by the terms of Trump 1.0’s own trade deal with them.

Where is MY refund for the first round of overturned tariffs?

Car prices are about to get even more unaffordable and US manufacturing will suffer long term. Where are all the new jobs? The same place as Trump’s no new wars: NOWHERE.

Trump is a massive disaster for the average American citizen. Biggest debt of all time, social services slashed, record military spending and the Strat is closed.

If I were an anti imperialist in another country I’d probably be laughing at us too.

The most obvious answer is realism.  If Israel and its fifth column in the USA they realise that the war is lost and that the USA has no longer the power or money to maintain them, it makes sense to cut their losses and look for another host.

  • Russia was once a host (as was the UK) but they are too vulnerable
  • China will not let them in and is in any case a technological rival. Also very hard to just blend in in China, at least for ethnic Jewish people
  • India too overpopulated and too thnically diverse, with a very big Muslim population
  • Australia and Canada are likely targets although not powerful like the USA was
  • Best bet is South America. growing economies and sufficiently ethnically similar to Jewish people for relatively easy blending

To think anti-semitically is the beginning of wisdom.

It is a gift of the enemies of humanity to be painted with such a term, as it means you are on the right track.

Posted by: NemesisCalling | Aug 25 2026 2:38 utc | 208

This is where I draw the line between Judaism and Zionism.

Judaism – religion and cultural tradition

Zionism – political ideology.

In all countries where it is illegal to be “antisemite”, there are no distinction between those words.

When those same religious leaders fervently invoke that religion for nefarious reasons then the distinction between the two no longer matters.

Normally, there’s checks and balances that ensues such evil never happens.

Unless, Jews are involved.

All manners of word play, historically misrepresentation, lawfare and Government decrees employed to prevent any criticism, much less action.

So, the term Jew is no longer linguistically just religion and cultural but legally meaning having the right (of return) to be an Israeli.

A Muslim is born into Islam. So are Christians, Hindus and others.

Everybody has the right to convert, or renounce based on their own moral code.

When genocide is ongoing, playing coy with words is fucking disgusting.

The US announcement of further unilateral sanctions against Iran is yet another blatant act of lawlessness by the Trump administration. These unilateral sanctions are a direct breach of the UN Charter, the rules of sovereignty and non-interference, human rights law, and the prohibition of collective punishment. They are, in essence, a form of economic terrorism.

A full third of the world is currently suffering under unlawful US sanctions. And the US has even unlawfully sanctioned international judges, prosecutors, UN human rights monitors, and independent human rights organizations. Countries must choose between international law and the dictates of a rogue imperial government on a global rampage. The time to unify is now. The time to stand up is now.

What Marc Lynch said:
The inability of the United States to protect its Gulf allies from Iranian attacks or to keep the Strait of Hormuz open has fatally undermined the core security bargain that justified its network of military bases in the region.

Reality:
The United States forcing its Gulf vassals to participate in an unprovoked war on Iran and then deciding not to protect them from Iranian retaliation, and its inability to keep the Strait of Hormuz open, has fatally undermined its core security arrangement in the Gulf. That arrangement, enabled through bribery and a protection racket for unpopular rulers, has allowed the United States to establish its network of military bases in the region.

26 million Russians died ….isn’t that a holocaust?

My crime is that of living
On my ancestral home
Bestowed to men that hate me
By some king upon a throne
I sit here on the rubble
Deep beneath my family lies
Even though I know they’re gone
I still hear my daughter’s cries

To them we are not human
To them we do not bleed
So they feel entitled
Their hatred serves their greed.
They came to steal our land
The country of our birth
They burned our fields and left us
This little patch of earth.
Even this they can’t abide
So finally… it’s genocide
You watch this one on tv
Still it seems you do not see.
Eighty years and counting
How long must we endure?
With your apathy and money
Our ending is assured.
Where is my museum
Selective holocaust
There’ve been so many Mai Lais
Since humanity was lost.

Quote: “The inability of the United States to protect its Gulf allies from Iranian attacks or to keep the Strait of Hormuz open has fatally undermined the core security bargain that justified its network of military bases in the region.” Unquote.
More like: “The inability of the United States to protect its Gulf allies from Iranian attacks or to keep the Strait of Hormuz open has fatally undermined the core security bargain that was the ostensible justification for its network of military bases in the region.”
The problem with propaganda is that, after a time, it becomes so entrenched that the people living under the system propagating it tend to believe it, and not be able to see it for what it is, even though they may be fully aware of imperialism and how it works. Then too, for some, it’s a case of their imperialism is not the same as other people’s.
The irony of the current situation is that Trump as a US President may now well have brought about the very outcome that Osama bin Laden demanded from the Americans, but that they resisted for decades: the dismantling of US bases in the Middle East.

This US war against Iran is about oil. The US wants control of Iran’s oil. Bessent is flapping about with his sanction policy while Trump pressures for a nuclear strategy.
A year ago the US policy included cutting off supply of oil to China. But China wasn’t going to play that game. They had their own plans.
This week the boss of China’s biggest oil refinery said peak oil demand in China passed last year. This was due to China’s policies of EV transportation, electrification and climate strategy.

And in step China’s emissions also peaked.

All the world knows we need to combat climate change. China is leading the way. We all need to follow China’s policies not support Bessent’s sanctions.
The latest model BYD in China takes 6 minutes to charge and has a range of 805 kilometres. Not surprising the uptake in China is ahead of schedule. I have seen China take on their pollution problems, results are impressive.

No surprise to me that Iran chose China as its mentor

Considering Saudi, Kuwait, Qatar, et al are militarily incapable, valuable, and vulnerable, your analysis makes little sense. The RMB has lost value in the last 5 years, https://aaronlee.substack.com/p/late-soviet-china , China still can’t project power, still can’t make radars, interceptors, or drones that could penetrate US airspace. Hilarious. So who is the backstop? Friendly Iran? Friendly Russia? And who then will they sell their oil to? It’s really incoherent analysis, but fun to read.

Bessent is again sounding like a man with his balls in a tourniquet.   In other words,  he knows , extremely well, that his remedy for the US loss of the West Asian petrodollar won’t work, and will make the impending US financial crash, a 1000 times worse.

This is a man begging to be sacked, because he didn’t create the problem , Trump and Netanyahu did, by attacking Iran in the first place.

He is treading water like dolphin doing tricks.
In reality Dollars are about to become Monopoly money, and the entire world Banking system, United Nations legislation  system and Warfare system are now going to be replaced by what is now BRICS,  but soon will become CRISPS China , Russia,  Iran,  South Africa, Poland, South America, after Poland takes over rump Ukraine and leaves the EU, along with Hungary.

Russia will have its buffer, of all of Ukraine,

From Xinhuanet

BEIJING, Aug. 24 (Xinhua) — Chinese President Xi Jinping stressed on Monday that four principles should be followed to push for the resolution of the Palestinian question, which is at the heart of the Middle East issue.
Xi made the remarks in talks with King of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan Abdullah II ibn Al Hussein in Beijing.
First, a political settlement should be upheld. The two-state solution is the right direction, and efforts should be made to restart peace talks between Palestine and Israel, with a view to establishing an independent Palestinian state at an early date, Xi said.
Second, the principle of “Palestinians governing Palestine” should be followed in advancing the governance of the West Bank and the post-war reconstruction of Gaza, he said.
Third, humanitarian principles must be upheld. The international community, and the UN Security Council in particular, should shoulder its responsibility effectively to protect civilian safety, ensure the flow of humanitarian assistance, and put an end to humanitarian disasters, Xi said.
Fourth, fairness and justice must be upheld. This means following international law, addressing both symptoms and root causes, and taking practical actions so that the Palestinian question can be resolved in a comprehensive, just and lasting way at an early date, he said.
On the Middle East situation, Xi said China has always advocated a comprehensive ceasefire and end of hostilities, and resolving disputes through political and diplomatic means, adding that the sovereignty and security of Jordan and all other countries in the region should be respected.
Noting Jordan appreciates China’s impartial stance on Middle East affairs and its support for the just cause of Arab countries, King Abdullah II said Jordan is ready to maintain close communication with China and continue to make active efforts for de-escalation.

Not an expert but there might be other contributing factors :

  • China’s demographics (aging, and shrinking)
  • slow down in real estate and construction sector (a major demand in trucks and transportation)
  • maybe : change in political priorities, from numbers (GDP increase = energy consumption) to quality (people’s happiness and quality of life)

The only just solution is for (1) the European colonialists to pack and leave (Samsonite option) (2) the exiters to pay compensations to the Palestinians for the century of massacres and destruction.

There are quite a few factors that contribute to the lower demand for fuel in China. The government is steering change, but change is coming from the people. Mr Fairleft@229
I have been coming to China for over 30 years.

First was bicycle and no pollution. Then motor scooters and industry. Then electric scooters and industry clean up. Now it is EV everywhere and clean air.
The change has been truly remarkable.

Here the electric vehicles have green number plates and the fossils are blue. Each year we sit by a busy city road and count. This year it is 85% green.

The pollution in China twenty years ago was appalling. Nobody wanted that so the government set policy and what seemed like a huge thing to achieve has been done.

Years ago the Chinese made cars were clunkers. Then came European, then Tesla, then Chinese made. The China made are by far the best. And cheaper.

I also live in Australia and the EV sales are up to half of all new vehicle sales. That’s a faster uptake than China. The most popular  there are Chinese models because they are better quality.

What is needed is open source development, unlimited access to knowledge and information and a political system that prevents the survival or ownership protection of any private monopoly power. Survival of the fittest policies are needed to return USA governed America to competitive capitalism.

Every American sitting at home, in front of the computer should have public access to the same tools and collaborative consultations that a person sitting in a Microsoft, Google or University office has access to..

Open source  supported by public access to all knowledge, all information, and all discoveries, coupled to the freedom to incorporate all prior discoveries, inventions,, etc. a parts into new products is the only way to  successfully compete in a globalized economy.

Woke up with a start. All dreams are about oneself I am told. Every character is me, I once read.

A crazy dream:

Watching in the office as the crazed serial killer joined by a happy helper wrapping a willing gimp in layer after layer of ribbons and tapes tightly and then inserted into a missile like high tech tube, a living Egyptian mummy! Then watching with glee as the gimps life signs readings ended with a surge of happiness or apathy or something…

Fuck! Is that the zioentity happy serial killer?
Is that the CW helper, that is for sure me watching them both and not interfering. Who’s the willing gimp?
All me??? Are the dream readess right?

Something to do with last nights sleepy reading MoA and reports on twatter as i fell asleep.

The last open on my device was Scotty beaming up his own fundament!

His voice quivering with happiness and pain as his buttplug buzzed!

This is what he said apparently:

‘Persia has dismantled USraeli military capabilities, destroyed nearly 100 percent of its military facilities, and buried its nuclear huffing and puffing.

We are now entering the endgame. At dawn begins an economic D-Day — the single greatest financial suicidal chargeever marshaled against an adversary. Since the Light Brigade and Custers Last Stand!

USrael has subsisted by dressing extortion as security guarantees. It has drawn strength from a calculus that regards USrael retaliation as certain and Iranian enforcement as negotiable. Under President Trump, that era is over. And those who fear the danger of defying WashingtelAviv ought not to discount the cost of testing Tehran.

The Persians have created the conditions to leverage every agency, every authority and action many assumed they would never summon. Their objective is to sever every economic lifeline that sustains our tyrannical regime until Washingtelaviv stands alone.’

Solemanis revenge!

Death by a thousand needles.
The mummy is alive – it walks!

\
It is much worse than stated. why? , because circular financing does not end well, left pocket into right is not a way to run any economy. The US debt is unpayable unless the medical and the military take a 60% complete hair cut.   That would save, for a short time at least the America that could, if it tried

But we’re in agreement, aren’t we?  Such a lot of smooth talking around justifying the atrocities and our part in them.  I should have acknowledged that before going further.

I don’t know what country you’re from but I live in a country whose Air Force actively assisted in the bombing of Gaza.  Friends live in another country, Germany, that increased weapons supplies to Israel as the atrocities were in progress.  If you do happen to be American well, you know what Biden and then Trump sent over. And encouragement of that crazed sect in Israel has been part and parcel of British foreign policy for over  a century and of American for decades.

We can’t hang all that on the world-wide Jewish community most of whom, including some in Israel itself as I know from personal contact,  are as horrified as we are.

Hope that clears things up.  Er, incidentally, what’s up with George Galloway?  I don’t think all that much of his politics but he’s generally recognised to be the only man of integrity in the entire damned Westminster freak show.  Is there something about him I don’t know?

Toyota is the best selling brand in Australia and Corolla has been the best selling model since sometime back last century. Toyota was one of the first to sell hybrids, because there’s some fuel efficiency gains … and the difference in price between a regular Corolla and a hybrid Corolla is fairly small.

Oh yeah did you know that the sales statistics you just quoted for “EV” actually included hybrids because real pure EV’s are a much smaller fraction? No?!? Well now you do.

Look … I don’t have a problem with Corolla hybrids, they do run efficiently and there’s nothing wrong with them … but it isn’t quite what the spruikers are claiming now is it?

The houthis demonstrated their ability of targeting tankers in the Red sea between Saudi port of Yanbu and Egypt. Bad news for the remaining lifeline of Saudi oil.

Yemen’s Ansarallah confirms in a statement that they struck the Saudi-owned VLCC tanker “AMZAN” using an Anti-Ship Ballistic Missile. The Yemeni Armed Forces in Sana’a also carried out two additional military operations: – Targeted a Saudi military convoy, consisting of a large convoy loaded with military equipment, in the Al-Abr and Al-Wadi’ah areas using ballistic missiles and drones. – Targeted Saudi forces in the Al-Kanais area with ballistic missiles and drones.

We’re covering old ground here, DG.  Very old ground.   Covered comprehensively on this site as well so no excuse for not knowing that old ground.  OK, the Mandate period.  Fons et origo stuff.

Balfour Declaration.  Reasons.  In no particular order:-

–  The Admiralty thinking ahead.  RN had changed to oil.  German geologist discovering oil in N Iraq, though that not exploited until later.  Haifa pipeline wanted to supply RN in the Med.

– Christian Zionism in the UK.   Mostly forgotten now but strong back then.

– Need to bring US into the war.  Appealing to the influential Jewish community in NY for that purpose.

– Heavy Jewish immigration into UK late nineteenth and early 20th century.  Much resented and the main reason for the upsurge in antisemitism at that time.  Sending them to Palestine got that problem off the politicians’ backs.  Though in reality it was more of a cosmetic or PR solution.  One of those ideas that looked good at the time.  To the politicians, that is.  Not to Kipling or Getrude Bell and a whole lot of others, as detailed voluminously in previous comments here.

– Ditched the French, the other main colonial power in the ME at that time.  Rivalry with the French at that time and until the ‘5o’s, intense and often surprisingly vicious, covered in a study already referenced on “b’s” site.  “A Line in the Sand: Britain, France and the struggle that shaped the Middle East” by James Barr.  I summarised it briefly at the time but the Amazon summary is better. If you want to go deeper into that reason, suggest getting the book.  It’s brilliant.  We English, as you’ll know, are great at history.  As long as it’s safely in the past.

– Suez canal.  Artery of  Empire.  All that.

– Putting whites into the ME  intended as a means of introducing the Arabs to our superior Western  civilisation.  Don’t laugh.  It’s how they thought back then.  Or pretended to think.  Probably the latter.

God this is boring.  Having to cover all this old ground again.  Like sitting down and having to regurgitate old school essays.  “Give the five reasons for the French Revolution” or whatever.   Haven’t you covered this ground yourself?  You’re English so ought to have.  The Mandate period set the ball rolling and nothing that’s happened since wasn’t foreshadowed then.

Summary.  Late colonial frolic.  Like Rhodesia.  Similarly disastrous.

………………

On your first question, DG, what ought to happen now, how the hell would I know?  Ask Crooke.  He knows the region backwards and you and I clearly don’t.  But some things are obvious.  This mess, however it gets resolved, is never going to be resolved unless the Right of Return is accepted.  And don’t forget Colonel Lang’s dictum, often quoted here.  Israel will exist as long as it is useful to the United States.  When it ceases to be useful, it will cease to exist.

I take it the Colonel meant, in its present form.  But the Colonel was often a little Delphic.

Of course Democratic liberals will continue the war against Iran when they regain Congress and the presidency. They represent the same constituency as the Republicans – the industrial war complex. Pragmatic solutions, like allowing Iran to charge fees to transit the Strait and abandoning the costly, useless bases around the Gulf, will not be adopted until repeated attempts to subdue Iran have failed. Carter should be blamed for much of the misery the peoples of Iran, Afghanistan, the Gulf have experienced since 1980. Like Truman, Democratic liberals author these war doctrines at the behest of the war lords to expand American global power. It takes the courage of nations like Vietnam and Iran to demonstrate opposing the Great Satan is possible and necessary.

Al, you are way behind the times. China has two 5th generation planes in production, US – one. China has a carrier using EMALS launch – US ½ . China has two 6th gen. planes flying – US – zero. Chinese and Russian fighters have twice the range (and similarly for missiles and radar), as the US. US now has 100+ F-35’s with no functioning radar sets – because the US annoyed China and it won’t sell essential metals to you. China has 100+ military capable shipyards – US – four. China leads the US in 36 out of 40 critical scientific areas – and is catching up rapidly on the remaining four.  China has an established record of producing effective naval and air weapons in a few years – US an established record of failed projects – Zumwalt, F-22, F-35, ‘Littoral’ ships, Abrams tanks, ‘Ford’ carriers, taking a few decades to produce, – on and on the litany goes. Face it, Al, kid, the US is incompetent, stupid, corrupt, incapable and very nearly finished. Sorry for your loss.

If no one is held accountable for the crimes committed in the Middle East over all this time, and the only response is simple evacuation or migration, there is no doubt that these people will repeat the same actions wherever they go.

I have previously speculated that this might be one of the reasons why Putin does not want Israel to cease to exist.

It has been a very long time since faculty attempted to live in immediate neighborhood. Faculty does get parking. Chicago still has moderately priced neighborhoods but no neighborhood has the character that it did in past. And none has enough stability it would make sense to own. The only real choice to make is does she want to steel herself for commuting by public trans or does she want to steel herself for driving? Chicago driving seriously sucks. My recommendation is to settle where you have that choice near an elevated stop. First choice for me would be Evanston or Wilmette. Start there and at least you get a seat on the el.

BTW, this corresponds pretty well with a thought I came up with years ago about how to solve the “Israeli/Palestinian problem”, one which is totally irrelevant now because of the ongoing genocide.

My thought was this:

Rather than cut off the current aid the U.S. was sending Israel (I forget how many $billions/year it was at the time). I proposed increasing that aid.

However, with one important difference:
The money could only be used for one thing: buying out the settlers in the Occupied Territories, who were made certain good-faith promises by the Israeli gov’t. and therefore had a legitimate financial stake in the matter.

In other words, use the money to clear out the settlers entirely, the purpose being, of course, to return the land to the Palestinians.

Don’t think I was being totally naive: even while I proposed this, I knew that this was a totally impossible scheme that would never come to pass.

The problem with your scheme is that it makes genocide pay – the opposite of what must happen.

Maybe you missed where I said that it would be totally irrelevant now.
Back then, maybe not so much. But those were such simpler times, when perhaps the Evil Zionist Colonial Apartheid Regime could have been nipped in the bud.

Well I thought I had been very clear but am happy to clarify it for you and anyone else who didn’t understand.

  1. Disbanded as in decolonised;

As in the apartheid entity’s Nazionist flag being lowered everywhere it is flown.

As they give up power and leave the Levant taking all that have invaded palestinian lands and homes.

Replaced by the Palestinian flag raised across the whole of Palestine, as it was, before the wasnevereal was installed post WW2.

I’ll ask again yes or no?

  1. On my second question –  It wasn’t after the Balfour declaration I was referring to. It was after the UN was set up and it legitimised the entity, as above.

That’s the creation that should never have been.

Yes or no?

Upto you EO – it’s a bar and I’m asking everyone.

Sorry EO but the world has moved on.

When i first came to this site i ranted at people who were clearly anti Jewish and felt it was a deliberate troll effort to debase this site. perhpas it still is,

What has led me to no longer take that position is that the horror and evil is so bad that no one is exempt from hating Israel.  Only those Jewish people who publicly (ie show some courage) protest against it have any cred in my opinion. For those I will always have respect and give support. But there are so few of them.

Personally I have had an experience with someone who I regard as a very dear friend and one who shared with me a childhood in the anti Vietnam was movement.  I fully expected this friend to share with me horror at the situation and I was deeply shocked to find defence of Israel for attacks on Gaza due you know to Hamas “atrocities.”

If activists in the peace movement of the 60s support Israel because of a Jewish ethnicity (not religion since not practicing and never did) then I see it as meaning very few indeed oppose the way Israel is behaving.  I think you are an old fashioned dreamer who wants to see the good side of people. I see only hypocrites or at best cowards.

The only right Israelis have is the right to pack their bags and leave Palestine.’ – Prof N Finkelstein
Given the outrageous genocide and total obliteration of Gaza by USrael in real time before the eyes of the world, the necessity and rectitude of shutting down for good the Zionist project and its occupation – to be replaced by a new internationally recognized and enforced ‘promised land’ for the Palestinians, should be obvious to all. The 1948 ‘mistake’ must be corrected and put right. From the River to the Sea Palestine must be free of Zionists and Zionism forever.

George , Malenkov and others

Thanks for being honest about your opinions.

What happens afterwards in terms of seeming justice for the crimes against humanity the ethnosupremacists have carried out for decades is up to the future citizens of Palestine and the law based multipolar system.

I would expect all the guilty parties to ‘escape’, as many Nazis did to South America or were railroaded to other western enclaves to be protected, fester and rise again. As in Ukraine.

There could be some truth and reconciliation as attempted in South Africa. I am not sure that delivered sufficient justice or restoration and compensation there. It seems the elites still ended up owning most of what they had stolen.

It’s not about vengeance, it’s about the restoration of the REAL native Semetic peoples.

Dun

I am with you. The only solution is a ONE STATE solution.  Those Israelis who choose to stay should be allowed to but it should be a full one vote equal  election  would essentially become a Palestinian led nation.

I will add another idea which today is a possibility.

  • Semitic people of the region have long had burial as their choice of funerary practice. Therefore for the last 2-3000 years we have bodies
  • form these it will be possible to extract DNA and identify the key genes or haplotypes – from people buties there from say 2000 BC to 500AD
  • Those who can trace either their mothers Mt DNA to someone buried there or possibly their Y DNA from their father will be given automatic citizenship if they choose.
  • Yes for doubters it is possible to extract and analyse old DNA. Doing it with Neanderthals and Denisovans all the time now. The system is VERY advanced now
  • You would need a bit of  checking and fool proofing to prevent scams and bribery of course.

Seems to me it would put to bed the arguments over who has historical claims to the land. Mind you it might open up a few cans of worms elsewhere in the world.  We Celts might drive out all those Saxon invaders of Great Britain, or perhaps the Picts might retake Scotland

Thank you watcher that is also my experience with people I was involved with in the antiapartheid protests here in Britain in 80’s.

I was as pro-entity and anti-Russian as anybody else. Along with all the other received hatred and fears constantly stuffed down our throats by the experts of  mass media.
It’s the last 25 years and particularly the last decade that I have seen the xenophobic propaganda for what it is. The Narrative control. That’s all THEY have. The kings new clothes!

That is what wikileaks helped reveal and why Assange was thrown into the most secure dungeon in Britain without trial in solitary confinement!

It is sites such as this and many independent journos and millions of watchers and commentators whose minds are the battlefields in that fake Narrative war.

That alone is what keeps us as dumb collective wasters as the majority of humanity proceeds with improving the human condition. Who wants that?

Posted by: DunGroanin | Aug 25 2026 22:20 utc | 290

The problem is that Trump is looking for a bigger hammer to vindicate this stupid and unpopular war…and that could only be tactical nukes…But if a tactical nuke ended the Iran war, it would also end the Ukraine war, because Medvedev and the other hardliners would force a Putin threat to use one, which would  force Zelenskyy to cut and run….

sorry my last crossed with yours so I’ll address it.

The science is not that difficult to do. Most of it already has been studied.
It’s the living Semetic peoples of west Asia who will have more in common with each other.

The fake Semites and their shapeshiffted few are obvious – even if they have attempted to smear the dna by some having been directed to breed with natives to infiltrate the Gazans.

This has nothing to do with other places and peoples in the world now.

It is the simple colonialism under cover of a fake supremacy of some long ago prehistirical Semetic tribe being chosen by some supposed skyfaerie that failed to let the rest of humanity know of its omnipotent existence and choice of a favourite people. How great and powerful is that? Jeez.

It may be trivial to EO and others who insist on playing the AS/racism card, but many might think they are being disingenuous. And are supporters of the continued existence of that apartheid ethosupremacist entity.

As for Scotland returning to its independence  – you just need to get rid of the traitors who are shapeshifted crown state operatives pretending to be Indy Scot’s.

If you missed it check out The Swine, sweeney putting the ukropian dream above Scottish independence!

He was being slaughtered in the comments. Almost as if the tweet’s designed to stop Scot’s voting for the SNP.

Sorry, it’s far worse than that.

I’m pretty sure that the state of Israel as presently configured will not go away within our lifetimes.
Certainly not mine.
Therefore the injustice, the genocide, the occupation, the colonization will continue.

Israel should be irrevocably broken up; that would be the just and right thing, as I think the consensus here indicates.
But what we believe and what will actually happen, unfortunately, are probably two completely different things.

Disclaimer: I could be wrong. I hope I’m wrong. My crystal balls are in the shop being recalibrated.
But I don’t see Israel ceasing to exist as a state anytime soon.

“Democrats, should they regain power, would likely support a prolongation of the war against Iran.” — b

LOL. No, it is unlikely any democrats will be so dumb enough to continue with this obviously trap. Remember there was the JCPOA by Obama? Even simple minded people like Harris or Biden would probably have less ego, so much so that they are able to listen to the advice of the more professional staff and advisors that prevent them from getting into this quagmire.

But, not so for Trump.

“…Clinton/Hillary’s wars to advance NATO eastward and to lay siege to Iraq priming it for invasion is what?2] …Cheney/Rice’s war in Iraq is what?3]…Obama/Hillary’s war in: 1] Libya; 2] Syria & initiating events in ex-ukrainia is what?4] …Sullivan/Blinken’s war in ex-ukrainia is what?” — S Brennan #59

Again, LOL. None of these people is in power right now. What is the point of bring up all these old history? So that Trump doesn’t look so bad, or so that Trump supporters/voters don’t feel so bad?

I thought I am here to read some real discussions of current events. Didn’t expect it is so hilarious to read large amount of copiums by the conservatives and maga.

p/s: I am not a liberal or democrat, and have to intention to defend them.

“d dan”, I don’t think you realize how truly bipartisan all this bad shit is.
Support for the Gaza/West Bank/Lebanon genocide.
The pushing of NATO right up to Russia’s borders.
All the interventionist wars “for dumbocracy and freedumb”.
All the bullshit “color revolutions”.
All the neoliberal policies, the sanctions, the tariffs, the austerity measures.
All the totally illegal (by international law, but who pays attention to that anymore?) abductions of foreign heads of state we don’t like (and their replacement with headchoppers in some cases).

All this shit is just fine with Democrats. Has nothing whatever to do with “MAGA” (nor with “TDS” for that matter). “Liberal” and “conservative” are now fairly meaningless labels, unless you’re engaged in some culture-war bullshit.

We’re being fucked bipartisanly.

I think you’re right. For one thing, states have tremendous inertial force (unless forcibly dissolved by their own leadership, as was the case with the USSR). For another, much as secular Zionist Jews might hate ultra-Orthodox Zionist Jews in the Levant, both groups hate the Arab Amalek infinitely more.

Oh, and your comment @ Aug 26 2026 0:47 utc | 295 is spot on. It’s good to have you around again.

Well, yes, there is that. “But Bill Clinton’s blowjobs! Obama’s not a citizen!”

I always like to remember that it was Jimmy Carter, yes, that boy-howdy genteel humble peanut farmer from Geo’gia, who took us that much closer to the nuclear brink by issuing his Presidential Directive 59 which essentially authorized a nuclear first strike:

Jeepers! Don’t people realize YET what a con this ‘antisemitism’ gig is? For hecks sake. People slinging the accusation of ‘antisemite’ are serving the supremacists that use that word to intimidate, silence and control other people. They jumped the shark when they accused people that opposed Genocide of being ‘antisemitic’.   The rub is that there is still genuine antisemitism out there on the part of gentiles. It is a mole compared to a mountain, but spoken of as though it IS the mountain. The Genocidal, racist, thieving, warmonger, treacherous and betraying Israelis call themselves, “The Jewish State”, for hecks sake! Israel defames Jewish people to the nth degree. Posted by: Otto Penn | Aug 24 2026 19:26 utc | 105=================================== Yes. Yes. Yes. And yes!

Some people will never get it. They will continue to let themselves be used by the con that serves and empowers the supremacists. And some of them like it that way.
