War On Iran: – Another TACO – Iran’s Need To Escalate

Once again the U.S. president threatened to bomb Iran to smithereens. Once again he pulled back, while, once again, claiming that Iran was begging for negotiations, which, once again, Iran denied.

Welcome to Monday.

It is the fifth time Trump TACOed on bombing Iran.

Last Saturday, while the U.S. military was getting ready to (again) bomb Iran. Abbas Araghchi, the foreign minister of Iran, picked up the phone and called up his colleagues in the Arab Gulf states. He read them lists of the individual targets in their countries which Iran would destroy should Trump, for once, do what he promised.

The Gulf countries consulted each other. Mohammad bin Sultan, the Saudi ruler, was chosen to tell Trump – in diplomatese – to shut the fuck up:

HRH the Crown Prince stressed the need to prioritize dialogue to reduce escalation and the importance of making every possible effort to achieve calm that paves the way for diplomatic solutions, preserves the region’s security and stability, and prevents a wider conflict whose repercussions would affect regional and international security and stability.

Without exporting oil Saudi Arabia would not be able to import U.S. weapons. It would have to sell treasuries to finance its living.

Explaining such second order effects might well have been what moved Trump:

The crown prince also asked for clarity over U.S. strategy on Iran and the planned strikes, the officials familiar with the matter said.

Behind the scenes, Gulf countries are frustrated with what they see as a lack of a clear strategy from the U.S. as the war drags on, subjecting their territories to frequent Iranian attacks, people familiar with the matter said.

Not everyone has yet come to their senses:

Not all Gulf countries are pushing for de-escalation. Some, such as the United Arab Emirates, have lobbied Trump in recent days to take more decisive action against Iran, according to senior Gulf officials familiar with the discussion. The officials have suggested Iran’s powerful Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps won’t compromise until the U.S. escalates, takes control over the strait and perhaps considers ground operations.

The UAE itself, despite having bought a bunch of Israeli weapons, is unable to defend itself. Its rulers seem to be in need of some serious whacking.

The U.S. can not take control of the Strait. It does not have the manpower needed for the necessary ground operation. Its military is out of ideas:

“We are looking for new creative and unconventional ways to pressure and punish Iran,” an officer in US Central Command’s intelligence branch wrote in a message sent Wednesday to a broad group of military analysts, according to a source familiar with the message. A second source also said that a senior US military officer sent the message last week soliciting new ideas for how to deal with Iran.

Both the Central Intelligence Agency and the Defense Intelligence Agency have recently assessed that the kind of bombing the US is carrying out is unlikely to shift the Iranian negotiating position, CNN has reported.

The president’s most senior military adviser, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Dan Caine, has acknowledged publicly that bombing alone is unlikely to accomplish all Trump’s previously stated objectives for the war.

“Air power has its limits,” Caine told lawmakers last month.

It is Iran which has escalation dominance. The U.S. has pulled out from the Kurdish region In Iraq. Its troops have left Kuwait and Bahrain. Iran has already hit Jordan, where some U.S. troops have moved to. Those U.S. troops who have moved into Israel are next on the menu.

Iran no longer believes in a peace deal. It is content to keep going until the U.S. fundamentally changes its hostile strategy.

But Iran is unlikely to wait for the U.S. next strike. It will instead soon start its own escalation. There will be more ‘surprises’ for U.S. ships and installations.

The Strait of Hormuz will stay closed. Additionally the Bab al-Mandab exit from the Red Sea is closed for Saudi exports. Iran will keep it that way until the economic consequences will make themselves felt more urgently in Donald Trump’s own country.

That may still take awhile as we have yet to reach ‘tank bottom’:

The tank bottoms narrative misjudges two critical factors. First, it glosses over the huge accumulation of oil stocks in China over the last decade that today provides an impressive cushion. Before the war broke out, Beijing had more than 1,400 million barrels in strategic stocks; since then it has drawn, perhaps, about 100 million barrels or so. China still has plenty in reserve to keep its imports below pre-war levels.

The second problem with the tank bottoms narrative is that it exaggerates the depletion of the strategic reserves held by rich nations. … [They] still have another billion barrels or so held in reserve for future disbursement if the disruption continues. Japan and South Korea, in particular, have plentiful inventories.

Then again – you don’t want to run reserves to zero.

Besides – the not-so-rich countries with no reserves are the ones getting screwed by this.

There is no predicting when and how this might end. A week or two from now me may see a repeat of the same story. New threats by Trump, new counter threats, and another TACO.

The man-child in the White House it out of options but also too stubborn to give in.

thanks b…. i too wonder how it ends…  any chance of trump being removed from the picture given his inability to listen to anyone?? i kind of doubt it.. he is surrounded by yes people who don’t challenge him…

If you hit me then I will destroy my neighbors (neighborhood).
At least the Iranian(s) have something in common with Putin, hit me and I will retaliate against my neighbor.
At least Mr Putin is keeping us safe from thermonuclear war, and so are Mr Iranians by not sinking the American navy.
Sleep easy everyone.

I heard Marandi quote Arba’in as a reason for the Iraqi PMF not yet retaliating against the US-Saudi attacks on their barracks.

Once it is over however…

Arba’in is a major Shia religious event and pilgrimage in Karbala:

As with Ashura,[37] Arba’in can be an occasion for Sunni violence against Shia Muslims.[38][39][40]

Apparently it  is bigger than the Hajj… 😮
If the USrael are to do one of their speciality sneak attacks, today or tomorrow would be most likely (of course resulting in even more rage), if Iran and the Resistance are to escalate expect it after the 4th.

Of course, nothing could happen – which would be best. The US is up against the clock, as the Taliban understood.

How about this for “new creative and unconventional ways”? Peace. Prosperity for all. Cooperation. Don’t punish anyone. Mutually assured construction. You might even try reparations for murders already committed.
Of course, that’s a language the despicable bastards in the U.S. department of war crimes can’t comprehend.

You want a military solution, instead, then try this: send the U.S. military to Israel. Shoot down every Israeli warplane, sink every Israeli warship, bomb every Israeli tank, bomb every Israeli bulldozer, being sure to kill the operators. Military solution achieved.

Trump says US blockade to remain until Iran deal or ‘total surrender’

US President Donald Trump said Monday the United States would maintain its naval blockade of Iran until “a deal or total surrender is accomplished.”
In a post on Truth Social, Trump said the US Navy completely controlled the Strait of Hormuz and that nothing would reach Iran unless Washington allowed it.
He also said talks with Tehran had begun, with more scheduled in the immediate future, despite Iran’s public denial that discussions with the United States were taking place.

Good discussion by Elijah J. Magnier. Iraq is slowly but surely releasing itself from US control, albeit indirectly due to Iraqi oil revenues going through US bank accounts. But PMG groups are free to defend Iraq against Saudis and US.

Jordanians want America/the west out too.

American bases on the gulf have become liabilities instead of assets for US armed forces.

I think that, alongside the Thucydides Trap and a Pyrrhic victory, strategy textbooks will soon have a new term: the Trump Pit.
Inspired by the saying, “Whoever digs a pit will fall into it.”, Proverbs 26:27

As Sun-Tzu would say:
「你绝不要发动一场你无论用任何方式都无法赢得、且在任何情况下你都不能不赢的战争,因为那将意味着你的帝国的终结,你这橙色的傻逼。」
Nǐ jué bùyào fādòng yī chǎng nǐ wúlùn yòng rènhé fāngshì dōu wúfǎ yíngdé, qiě zài rènhé qíngkuàng xià nǐ dōu bùnéng bù yíng de zhànzhēng, yīnwèi nà jiāng yìwèizhe nǐ de dìguó de zhōngjié, nǐ zhè chéngsè de shǎbī.
In English translation:
“Never start a war that you have no possible way of winning, yet at the same time cannot afford to lose under any circumstances—because it will mean the end of your empire, you orange moron.”
But maybe it is not Sun-Tzu but The Nice and Accurate Prophecies of Agnes Nutter, Witch   😉

Journalist Suhaib Al-Masalma

– “Trump:

The Iranian leadership is incredibly deceitful! They ask for a meeting, some might even say ‘beg’, and talks begin, with dates set for more in the near future, and then they say, very proudly, that they are not having any discussions, nothing is being discussed, and that they are only dealing with ‘Oman.’ Then they launch into their usual blather saying that the Strait of Hormuz will be aggressively managed by them, when it is already completely under the control of the US Navy and ‘our blockade’ or as some call it. “The United States’ steel wall!” President Donald J. Trump”

– “Pakistan and Turkey deny that there was any date for today’s talks with America and Iran, as “liar” Trump said.”

– “An Iranian source says that Iran has rejected an American proposal to open the Strait of Hormuz on American conditions”

– “A senior Israeli political source, “Shaklo Netanyahu,” says:

Israel will not retreat from the current line in the Gaza Strip and will continue to fight any threat to its citizens and soldiers.”

The deaths just keep coming to the point where rage, grief, shock, horror, loss all merge into one continuous scream of pain. Imagine if this were your son… a child you had protected and sworn to protect for life, from the bombs, the bullets, the drones, the shells, the hunger, thirst and trauma? Then in one instant they are gone, another lifeless being on another hospital trolley, their blood drying as you cling to them, begging them to still be alive. There are no words… this world is a dark, dark place. The genocide in Gaza has not ended.”

USN will have a diminishing number of ships available for blockade duty, particularly the vital DDGs that provide AD for the carrier groups that are to perform that duty. DDGs are not powered by nukes meaning their powerplants and other systems need more frequent upkeep that the carriers they escort, and those maintenance tasks must usually be performed at the naval yards within the Empire. not at overseas bases. It’s been reported recently that some DDGs are sailing with empty missile tubes because the main SM-6 weapon is in very short supply; and as with all Outlaw Empire missile production, they take a long time to manufacture the low numbers produced. And that’s even more complicated due to the strangulation of the vital rare earth metals supply chain. In other words, Iran can outlast the USN blockade for the above reasons alone. However, other pressures will be applied to the Trump Gang to lift its war on the world via the blockade as the financial structure of its vassals being to shudder, Japan being the most immediate case as Alastair Crooke described in his chat with Judge Nap. And the Saudis are in dire straits too, although their circumstances aren’t the same as Japan’s. And then there’s the Graham Tariff bill that if enacted will further deplete the petro dollar and further isolate the Empire. As was learned from Trump’s Trade War with China, the Empire cannot function economically with a great cessation of trade with China, while China can sell to many other markets.

I agree with Dmitri Lascaris regarding Saudi Arabia.
SA did not beg Trump to reconsider.  Nor would that vassalage nation state matter if they had.

This was purely a monetary decision.
Even weapons depletions mattered not.  They’d go steal more from somewhere.

Simply,  the rescue package to Japan, selling off of bonds… sealed the fate of the annihilation campaign.

the UAE might now be first on Iran’s newest target list (see the first link. Iran might well be thinking, bomb bomb bomb bomb them both); and then harassing more seriously some US ships there in that Arabian Sea area that are involved in the illegal interdiction of Iranian vessels/blockade etc etc. Iran has a much more target rich field of endeavor than the USA does, that’s for sure…..

In an interview with Al Mayadeen on Sunday night, Professor Mohammad Marandi dismissed repeated claims by Donald Trump about imminent deals, emphasizing that Iran will not back down regardless of how long the conflict lasts.

On talks with Oman, Marandi clarified that Iran requires full monitoring of all maritime traffic through the Strait to prevent the region from being used as a foothold for US or Israeli attacks. He added that while Iran prefers a joint security arrangement with Oman, Tehran is fully prepared to manage the waterway independently if necessary.

Furthermore, Marandi highlighted that any future resolution will require the US to fulfill obligations upfront, with increased focus on regional guarantees for Yemen, Gaza, and Lebanon.

The U.S. can not take control of the Strait. It does not have the manpower needed for the necessary ground operation. Its military is out of ideas:

Indeed. With bases near Iran being subject to constant attack a ground operation would probably be marines trying to land from ships within range of all of Irans weapons.  A high casualty scenario.

At this point though the US is facing a fundamental tipping point.  If it cant dominate the middle east now it cant offer security guarantees to Saudi Arabia and company which puts the whole petro dollar arrangement at risk.

Therefore the US must make Iran surrender which means ground forces.  No one has surrendered to an air campaign. At some point guys with guns are needed to finalize a military victory.

God damn Israel and Trump for doing this.  It was patently unnecessary.  Even with a greater Israel scenario Israel still has way more on it plate before it needed to deal with Iran, like Turkey for instance. Which is a whole damn thing on its own.

But reality is what it is.  The US and Israel and its Arab allies have to do the dreaded ground war in Asia or they will eventually fall apart and a new order with an Iranian pole will arise.

Removing those US bases is a very important stepping stone for removal of US from the gulf countries. They are already pushed back to Jordan and Iran is capable of bombing also there. The Jordanian people are revolting to get rid of them.

Most likely the most reliable US bases are now in Israel and – all the way back to Italy/Sicily/Greece. The tankers could be located in Greece, perhaps in Israeli bases. But Jordan and Israel are definitely high-risk bases for US air force to operate.

US has very limited power projection against any air or land attacks against Iran. I fear they are thinking of the unthinkable, with the SSBN captain recently fired, you don’t need a lot of imagination for what reason.

For Iran, Trump’s Reversal on Escalation Shows Who Has the Upper Hand
By expanding the arena of fighting in the region, experts say, Tehran sent a warning about the dangers of a widening war.

….Beyond that dynamic, there was also the startling July 17 attack on U.S. military sites in Jordan that killed three American soldiers.

“The strike in Jordan was the game changer,” said Ali Vaez, Iran project director for the International Crisis Group. It not only showed that Iran’s missile arsenal remained well stocked, he said, but also that Tehran’s intelligence capabilities were higher than previously believed.

The attack also stirred rare dissent within Jordan, a crucial U.S. security ally in the region, as hundreds of prominent Jordanians, among them politicians and lawyers, challenged their country’s limits on free speech to demand the withdrawal of American forces.

“The entire Iranian strategy in this period has been aimed at making the United States understand that if there is another round of escalation, the scope and scale of Iranian response would be so much more devastating for the region and the global economy,” Mr. Vaez said.

Mr. Trump, he added, has never fully grasped the motivations of the Iranians, how they refuse to be bullied or cowed. Throughout both his current and previous term, Mr. Trump “is reluctant to learn the lesson” that aggressive tactics toward Iran have only hardened its position, Mr. Vaez said……..

This foolish war by Trump could be an enormous gift to China.
Suppose you lead an Arab nation with US bases. Your nation is now a target and there’s nothing you can do about it.  However, in time, you can reach out to China for water plants or other facilities and Iran won’t bomb those.  Advantage China

Good point.  Id you want to determine if American Jews are Zio or not you must ask at least one question first: do you in any way support Israel?  But, in the current context, I imagine many will lie or avoid giving a straight answer at least.
The Zios are the enemy of humanity, not necessarily every Jew.  Very critical point to remember because once you start talking “Jews” there is a massive legal code ready to destroy you as an “anti semite”.  And most important, you do not want to attack an innocent Jew or a potential ally against Israel.  That is not only unethical but also non strategic.  Such blunders only empower the Zios and Israel.

In Islam, a husband who condones his wife’s infidelity will go to Hell. On that basis , the  world is sinful if it continues to associate with USUKIS.

For those with no moral boundaries, the only cure is divorce,  a complete disconnection on a completely permanent basis.
On this principle, the world must isolate USUKIS and cease all connection with it.
It takes two to tango , and the sane world Must powerfully reject the provocations of the insane West, even if, like George Galloway , the sane physically remove themselves from the environment of madness.

Better to enter the Kingdom of Heaven, halt or maim, than to enter Hell blind and whole.

The Gulfies and Turkiye had better decide which side their bread is buttered, with Iran or with Trump. Anybody who stays inside the West likely be judged by the Higher Power as part of the West for condoning its genocidal madness.

Chinese companies are going to have a field day fixing up all the stuff in the gulf countries. PBOC might even open new swap lines for these countries to buy Chinese products. Yes, China wins influence at the expense of US influence.

On the other hand the globalist epstein class still maintains an iron grip of the gulf monarchies plus Jordan, and won’t easily allow this influence to slip through their fingers. But if China is acting to help Iran defeat US militarily it will happen anyway as the regimes become toothless and bankrupt without US support. Then they have only one direction to turn to.

i used to  think usa had a strong mlitary and the ability to fight a war. i now see the only thng usa can do is fire missles and bomb using planes  That can inflict plenty of  damage, but shows usa are cowardly, lack unity,  fat lazy and not willing to pay the price to achieve its goals. Unless usa sends in ground troops which will result in thousands  of dead  anerican soldiers trump has no good options. usa with a military budget exceeding virtually all countries combined has no real army. An army it can actually use. The USA is on the road to the dust bins of histories once great empitres.

Even $50B can cause large moves if it’s done within a short amount of time. That’s because there’s literally a lack of buyers or liquidity for these bonds. So price moves are outsized compared to some period when there was more liquidity.

The MOVE index measures US bond volatility. You can see it’s building an elevated base and rapidly increased during the JPY debacle. It’s most likely a feature now rather than the exception, especially with tons of bond issuance and refinancing coming up, and rising interest expense puts even more stress on liquidity. US central bank will need to take a much larger role as a buyer. That’s essentially the same as a dog eating its tail.

USA will find it has no options against Iran, except continued aerial bombardment which is not working. USA needs to  find alternative transport routes, or create them  But USA seems not capable to undertake  any major construction project. We are witnessing the steady decline and downfall of the USA. However,  USA has two  aces up its sleeve. It is a large island which gives it great security. It has a powerfull airforce and Navy which gives it capable deterrence. I get the impression Trump is trying to at least slow down the decline of USA, but it us like putting a finger in the hole of a large sinking ship.

But in truth, all were meant to disrupt.

Lest everyone forget,  Afghanistan really began with the Afghanistan pipeline that was going to go directly thru to EU, bypassing Russia/Iran.

Does everyone remember how Syria started?
With Assad’s refusal about the pipeline, the Qatari Friendship Pipeline.

US ground invasion against a country the size and population of Iran is impossible!

US military in terms of numbers of soldiers, ships, aircraft, and tanks is small compared to 1990 when it took 6 months maximum logistics efforts to “invade” Iraq, a tiny area compared to Ieran.

US was pushed out by the Taliban from Kabul in 2021, ingloriously!

US would not fare better against Iran!  US is fraction the power it was in 1991, and its new weaponry is suited to some fiction not Iran.

U.S. Central Command urges service members to suggest “creative” ways to “punish” Iran

According to CNN, the U.S. Central Command initiated an internal campaign last week to find new ideas, tasking military analysts with proposing unconventional tactics to increase pressure on Iran.

“We are looking for new, creative, and non-traditional ways to exert pressure and punish Iran,” wrote an officer in the intelligence division of the Central Command in an email sent on Wednesday to a wide range of military analysts.

This widely circulated email request highlights growing concerns within the Pentagon, as planners attempt to overcome a strategic impasse due to a limited range of options. This initiative underscores the difficulties Washington faces, as traditional military measures have failed to compel Tehran to comply.

“Ultimately, the president will want a deal, so he will constantly be looking for ways to show resolve and find a way out of this situation,” said one CNN source.

“Sometimes you need creative minds – especially when you’re running out of traditional options.”

creative minds!!
traditional options!!!

it’s called using the Reverse Gear.

This is a precursor to admitting defeat and withdrawing from West Asia it will be blamed on the security apparatus – “a wide range of military analysts.” – supposedly being yellow bellied and not prepared to die for the entity’s impossible existence.

” Bessent: Japan will use the International Repo facility in future”

Full Translation: “The US debt markets fragility, is so extreme and illiquid at current pricing, for its vastly over-valued status, that a major holder [Japan $1.1Trn] can not be allowed to bring about a contagion of price realignment, through the act of even light selling of its portfolio of UST’s.

The effect would mean violent upside moves in rates and dollar devaluation. [As recently witnessed, nothing to do with the EUR]

Instead as a vassal state and slave nation to the Transnational ZIO-complex of US/Israel [Post WWII], Japan was bullied into being a net demand buyer of said US debt instruments with its consistent trade surplus’s with the US over the years. It is now decreed that JAPAN may NEVER sell or distribute any part thereof of their UST holdings.

Instead their coercive ruler zio-nation bosses, have also decreed, they may only borrow against these now frozen static ‘assets’, at their elevated fake valuations, that can not be tested for value in meaningful volume at current prices.

So Zio-States Inc, are preventing a proxy nation from disposing of a vast sum of their most toxic and over-valued assets, which may, by its assessed future valuation by many, be a part of the reason that the country is experiencing a currency devaluation on the impaired asset, being un-redeemable anywhere near current prices.

However to maintain the facade of current UST ‘valuations’ the Zio-complex will treat the vassal state ‘Asset’ holder, as a meagre cash seeking borrower [Oliver Twist: ‘Can I have more gruel please sire’], who may be allowed to lend on terms dictated by Zio Inc against a knowingly flawed asset that even Zio Inc knows should be priced at 15-25% yield [duration dependent] if that was in any way possible, yet clearly isn’t.

Such is the world wide scaled, NO sell, Bid & BUY only, US/Israel debt rug pull set up.

The US/Israel Zio-Axis, would also like to assert to all observers that US Treasuries’s remain the most pristine assets of collateral, the world over and suggest further accumulation by observer nations.

In fact it is great nations that buy treasuries, they are far less likely to see their particular brand of ‘democracy’ face public mainstream media scrutiny, than rogue nations who don’t buy treasuries.

Once you own a $Trnof our near worthless mess we run you.”

Thank you for your attention to this.

Trump setting deadline for opening of Hormuz by tomorrow
By Alan Fisher  Reporting from Washington, DC

Donald Trump seems to be losing patience, saying that this is the last chance that they are in negotiations.

He criticised Iran earlier today in a Truth Social post, saying that the leaders were effectively lying, that every time he says they’re in talks, they are actually in talks, although the Iranians come out and say they’re not.

The intention of these talks, first of all, is to open the Strait of Hormuz. He said that should happen on Tuesday, so effectively setting a deadline without actually setting a deadline, and saying that the strait will be open with no charges on anyone and then they will move on to talks on what he says is the denuclearisation of Iran, which he says will take much longer.

BREAKING: A source close to Iranian officials says Tehran has documented a pattern of oil market manipulation tied to Axios reports and Trump administration insiders, including evidence of a $9 billion insider trading operation linked to Jared Kushner and Steve Witkoff.

Some of the documented timeline from the $9 billion insider profit:

Between April and May 2026, a series of suspiciously timed trades in oil futures markets preceded major Iran war announcements—each tied to reporting by Axios.

On March 23, approximately $500–580 million in shorts were placed 15 minutes before Trump announced he was postponing strikes on Iran. Oil dropped.

On April 7, roughly $950–960 million in shorts were placed hours before Trump announced a two-week ceasefire with Iran. Oil fell around 15 percent.

On April 17, around $760 million in shorts were placed 20 minutes before Iran’s foreign minister announced the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz. Oil dropped.

On April 21, approximately $430 million in shorts were placed 15 minutes before Trump extended the ceasefire. Oil dropped again.

On May 6, nearly $920 million to $1.7 billion in crude oil shorts were placed approximately 70 minutes before an Axios scoop claimed the U.S. and Iran were near a “14-point agreement.” Oil dropped 12 percent. Traders made an estimated $125 million. Iran called the report “the Americans’ wish list.”

Previously, a senior Iranian official told investigative outlet Drop Site News that Tehran privately warned JD Vance during Switzerland talks that Jared Kushner and Steve Witkoff were “abusing” negotiations—”more interested in exploiting insider knowledge to profit in financial markets than reaching a deal.”

And as long as the US wishes it to remain closed on Iran’s side. The US can send its ships home and maintain the blockade with the same means Iran is using, drones and mines. The US blockade can even be extended inland- the trial run for this is already being successfully tested against Russia’s petro facilities.

Japan :

Answering the questions above…

A core myth promoted by “sound money” advocates is that the value of the Yen is a fragile flower, held together by nothing more than “faith” and the government’s willingness to bribe savers with interest.
The argument typically runs like this: “If the government stops paying interest on its debt, or stops issuing gilts, nobody will want Yen. There will be a collapse in the value of the currency as everyone rushes for the exits.”
This view is rooted firmly in the past. It is a hangover from a fixed exchange rate world that died in the 1970s, yet it continues to haunt the nightmares of commentators who have always failed to grasp modern money of today.

Unsurprisingly, it also serves those who profit from the current arrangement. The “sound money” crowd isn’t just wrong: it’s entrenched and enriched.

1: The Law:

First, let’s deal with the “faith” argument. You often hear that we must maintain “faith” in the currency. But currency is not a religion; it is a legal and accounting construct.
You don’t need “faith” to require Yen. You need Yen because the Japanese state has the power to levy taxes and the courts have the power to enforce contracts denominated in Yen. If you owe the tax man, or have a mortgage or business contract in Japan, you need the tokens the government supplies. If you don’t get them, you end up bankrupt or in jail. The

That creates a permanent, structural demand for the currency that has nothing to do with “belief” and everything to do with the practical reality of avoiding the heavy hand of the law. The tax drives the currency.

2 The Missing Buyer :

The “currency collapse” crowd always focuses on the seller. They imagine a stampede of people “getting out” of Yen. But they never seem to ask the most basic question when selling anything: To whom?

In a modern fiat  floating exchange rate regime Yen doesn’t just disappear into a black hole.

It isn’t like the Gold Standard, where you could “cash in” your notes for a physical commodity and take it somewhere else. Every time someone sells Yen, someone else is, by definition, buying it.
When the “currency collapse” theorists imagine a mass exit, they are thinking in terms of the old fixed-rate logic—where you swapped your Yen for Dollars or Gold held centrally. But in a modern open market, the person buying that Yen isn’t doing it as a favour. They are buying because they intend to do something with it within the Yen currency zone.

They are buying to:

  1. Spend it: Purchase Japanese goods and services.
  2. Invest it: Buy Japenese assets, businesses, or infrastructure.

When people “hoarding” Ten (by sitting on interest-bearing government debt) decide to sell, they are replaced by people who want to put that currency to work in the real economy. They buy because a growing economy offers returns that dwarf the old japenese bond bribes.

3. From rent seekers to investors

What the “collapse” narrative describes as a catastrophe is actually a rebalancing.

If we stop paying people the “free money” of government interest, the “hot money”, and the rent-seekers might indeed leave. They will sell their Yen.

Yet the new buyers of that same amount of Yen are intent on spending and investing it in Japan.

Spending and investing increase GDP. It boosts productive capacity. It makes the “Yen zone” more valuable.

How can the price of something go down if it is becoming more valuable? It can’t – unless of course  we’ve been propping it up wrong all along. That’s  exactly what we have been doing with government bond bribes.

4. The Dip is real, the bounce is too:

Will there be a dip? Initially, yes. And we should be honest about why: paying interest on government bonds is a hidden import subsidy.

Bond interest means importers have been paying 50 for what should cost 60. The rest of  pick up the tab in higher taxes remove the bribe and Yen finds its honest level.

This is why those interest savings must flow directly back to the Japanese people. Using that fiscal headroom to hike the Personal Allowance tax  changes a subsidy for “hoarders” into a pay rise for workers. You offset the import adjustment by putting money into the pockets of people who actually live and spend in Japan.

Sceptics are not wrong about the dip. They’re wrong about the depth and duration. In a world of sophisticated futures contracts, the “pain” of a shifting exchange rate is largely a private matter for a few slow-moving hedgers. For the rest of the economy, the J-curve resolves on paper before it hits the high street.

A growing economy cannot stay cheap for long. Capital chases returns. Returns follow productivity. Once Japan shifts from rent-seeking to real investment, the currency will inevitably track any improvements in the real terms of trade. The dip isn’t a warning. It’s a brief adjustment while the builders move in.

So Japan sells treasuries ?

Posted by: Andrew | Aug 3 2026 20:09 utc | 71

It’s not selling them though, it’s pledging them as collateral for US$ liquidity:

And to forestall forced selling of Treasuries by Japan, the Bank of Japan will use the Fed’s Standing Repo Facility (SRF) for Foreign and International Monetary Authorities (FIMA) instead of selling Treasuries.

At the FIMA SRF, approved foreign central banks can put their Treasury securities as collateral for USD cash. This shift to the FIMA SRF, rather than selling Treasuries, was also part of the announcement, though the BOJ has had access to the FIMA SRF for years.

The Fed announced the establishment of the FIMA SRF on July 28, 2021, when it announced its regular SRF that US banks can use. This standing FIMA repo facility replaced the temporary FIMA repo facility the Fed had created in March 2020.

The US has no choice except to settle with the Iranians on a ‘deal’ that benefits both sides.

Israel will never allow such a ‘deal’ to be consummated.  If they have to ‘stage’ a massive false flag, they will do it.  Not Zionist life is meaningless to them, so a massive strike on an American city is something they are certainly capable of.  After all they attacked and nearly sank the USS Liberty, causing over 125 deaths and injuries of USN personnel, hoping to blame the entire attack on Egypt (luckily an RF Navy frigate arrived on the scene responding to clear channel SOS signal from the Liberty, and chased off the IDF torpedo boats and aircraft, or the IDF may have been able to pull that false flag off – dead men tell no tales)!

Anything and everything to stop a peace deal which would destroy any hope of a Greater Israel, built on the premise of using Arab sub humans as their work slaves.

If DJT hopes to retain control of Congress is to survive the mid-terms he needs to make the deal with the Iranians and subdue the Zionist Neo Fascist Occupation State……LOL

Re Trump gang (including Kushner and Witcoff) profiteering through insider trading partly based around knowing what imminent Trump announcements were going to be…..

How many people throughout the world have already been killed, maimed and impoverished thanks to the manipulative, often war-criminal, activities of such financial scum?

According to Wikipedia, “The practice of short selling was likely invented in 1609 by Dutch businessman Isaac Le Maire, a sizeable shareholder of the Dutch East India Company“.

Such actions should be properly rewarded — with confiscation of all assets, plus at least the death penalty.

Taking a step back …

In the last 30 years Japanese interest rates have hardly moved and been around zero or even negative at times.

During that period the Yen has been both very strong or weak.

And yet , the US rule based order online influencers or the box in your living room are trying to convince the weak minded that the Yen is  weak due to interest rates. They are trying to force Japan to hike rates.

So that the rent seekers who horde Yen get ” free money ” just for sitting on piles of Yen. They use the pre 1971 interest differential myth to try and get consent.

Here: Never compare raw bond yields across currencies.

https://bondeconomics.substack.com/p/yes-dont-compare-raw-bond-yields?utm_source=publication-search

There is a number of ways of implementing this (bond futures, swaps, a bond and a currency swap or currency forward), but they all end up being economically equivalent to this structure. This means that your operations in the foreign currency look identical to a highly-leveraged investor who operated in that currency. All you care about is the following: will the bond outperform the short-term financing cost of the position? (That explains why the path of short rates matter.) So, you could care less about the absolute yield level of the foreign bonds, rather how they compare to the local currency term structure. However, there is one group of large investors who are exceptions to my discussion above: foreign currency reserve managers. This is about the only class of investors who act like the investors in economics textbooks, buying and selling foreign currency short-term debt. Although these investors are important, they are not enough to dictate the level of the yield curve. The only reason to expect nominal yields across different currencies to track each other is the tendency for central banks to herd. One could reasonably argue that the Bank of Canada does not entirely set its policy rate in a vacuum; rather it does look at the level of its policy rate versus the Fed. That said, we have seen large divergences (on the order of hundreds of basis points) in the past, and these divergences have been quite persistent. (The Aussie-Japanese spread historically captured the imagination of many strategists.) As a result, a certain amount of correlation of yields is reasonable to expect (and observed in the data). This means that we can quite often use hedged foreign currency bonds as a proxy for local currency duration. (The strength of the correlation varies greatly; U.S. Treasurys are a good proxy for Canadian dollar duration; bunds, not so much.) However, these relatively persistent policy rate divergences can support observed bond yield spreads, and there is no a priori reason to believe that the fair value of the spread should be zero.

Some headchopper terrorism along and inside Iran’s borders is probably on the zio game plan.

Jewlani being a headchopper and an Israeli creation.

Hope that helps to inform the discussion.

But I very much doubt it. The pre 1971 mindset props up the US rules based order, the murder and colonialism and unfortunately it has been  entrenched in people’s skulls.

People who drink at this bar regularly. Who should really know better. Unfortunately, they don’t even realise the US rules based order has brainwashed them.

The UAE is suicidal.
Its capital, Abu Dhabi, is dependent upon 3 major desalination plants to SURVIVE.
bonus:
Abu means Father in ArabicDhabi means Gazelle
The lore is that hunters were led by a gazelle to a much valued spring.
The aquifer was then, over time, depleted, lowered and thus salt water seeped in. Now they are dependent on their desalination plants. Else, Abu Dhabi will die.

Always remember that the nuclear issue is bs.

For the Israelis the nuclear issue has always been a means of maintaining a hostile stance against Iran so as to, ultimately,  achieve regime change.

https://www.starkrealities.net/p/join-us-military-kill-die-for-israel

Here’s how Joe Kent — the former National Counterterrorism Center Director who resigned this week in protest of the war — characterized the enrichment demand in his in-depth, post-resignation interview with Scott Horton:
“I really frankly don’t think the Israelis cared that much about…nuclear enrichment…What I think the Israelis care about is regime change. They wanted to push this war as fast as they could, so they came up with this talking point that zero enrichment was the starting point, knowing that was a non-starter for the Iranians.”

 ———-
Hamas always served the a similar purpose for Israel. Besides keeping the Palestinians divided – West Bank and Gaza – the support of Hamas by Netanyahu/Israel over the years was to maintain a war footing with Gaza.

re:   “Otto Penn | Aug 3 2026 21:52 utc | 91  Always remember that the nuclear issue is bs.”

That depends on how you define “the nuclear issue.” If you are limiting the definition to the talking point that requires Iran to abandon nuclear enrichment, that has some validity.  But if you include the fact that Israel has hundreds of nuclear weapons and could choose to detonate one or more of them over Iran (or any other “enemy”), then it is hardly “bs”

I wonder where the US military equipment that was in Kurdistan has been taken.
Maybe to Turkey for a joint Kurdish Syrian Turkish ground attack on Tehran via the Azerbaijan corridor. Barzani Jewlani and Erdoğan are Sunni Zionist genocidal ‘scum’, to use the word they use for the anti-Zionist Iran.
Certainly there is long tradition of genocides between these partners in crime, with BoJo and Cameron  , Churchill clones, running them.
Trump would obviously be mistaken if he thought a British- organised coup through Azerbaijan would be less offensive to Iran than a US one through Jordan.

But then , like Israel now , the main fucking contenders for regime change in Iran, US and Cuntcult could spin/ distance themselves from the action.

How stupid do these Zionists think we are, to forget the genocide of a million Palestinians?

No, it doesn’t inform us at all. It obfuscate and obscures.

The only thing you need to know is that the US can run a 40 trillion dollar debt because it polices the world and makes sure that countries like Japan does not liquidate too much of its treasuries.

Once we stop pushing others around and/or when other countries push back, as is the case currently, the rent will come due and you will not be able to run a 40 trillion debt-based system.

IOW, it is a clown economy and you are its chief clown economist.
