Ukraine Increases Security By Ending Count Of Missiles

The Ukrainian Ministry of Defense has for years bragged about its interception rate of Russian drones and missiles. Each day it published how many drones and missiles the Russian side had fired, and how many of those the Ukrainian side had wiped off the skies.

The Ukrainian ‘success’ rate was far above of what any others country’s air defense would hope to achieve. A typical example of that from July 9:

Ukrainian air defense intercepted nearly 90% of aerial threats during large-scale attacks in June

Throughout June, Ukraine’s air defense intercepted nearly 5,300 aerial threats.

Specifically, it shot down 90% of Shahed, Gerbera, Italmas, and other drones, 40% of ballistic missiles, and 89.4% of other missile types.

The overall interception rate for aerial threats during large-scale enemy attacks reached 89%.

During the hours-long attack overnight into June 2, the enemy launched eight Zircon anti-ship missiles, 33 Iskander-M ballistic missiles, 32 Kh-101 and Kalibr cruise missiles, and more than 650 attack drones.

The enemy sought to overwhelm Ukraine’s air defense, but Ukrainian forces responded effectively, intercepting 92% of drones and 90% of cruise missiles. Among the most challenging targets to intercept—ballistic missiles — 11 out of 41 were shot down.

A similarly large-scale attack took place overnight into June 15: the enemy launched six Zircon anti-ship missiles, 34 Iskander-M ballistic missiles, 30 Kh-101 and Iskander-K cruise missiles, and 611 attack drones.

Despite the complexity of the large-scale aerial attack, Ukrainian air defense intercepted half of the ballistic missiles, 95% of the drones, and all cruise missiles launched against Ukraine.

I am not aware of anyone who did believe those numbers. The news items did however contribute to the western media narrative of “Ukraine is winning“.

It did not take long for that delusion to evaporate. Ukraine, and more or less all of NATO, has run out of air-defense missiles. It no longer has the capability to even touch low-and-slow flying cruise missiles.

The Ukrainian defense ministry thus stopped to report how many missiles the Russians fire:

The Ukrainian Air Force on Tuesday said that its forces downed 98 of 120 Russian drones launched overnight but did not disclose how many missiles were fired or intercepted, even though Zaporizhzhia, the Dnipropetrovsk region, and Kyiv were targeted by more than a dozen ballistic missiles, including North Korean-made KN-23s, killing nine people.

The change follows a decision days earlier to stop reporting interceptions of Russian ballistic missiles. That came after a major attack last week in which Ukraine was unable to intercept any of 28 ballistic missiles fired at the country.

A person familiar with the matter told Bloomberg that the air force changed its reporting format as a security measure in response to Russia’s attacks.

How not reporting an enemy’s action is supposed to provide more security has yet be found out.

The Ukraine War is a scam. Or scams within scams with scams.

If those Ukrainian claims were true, missiles and drones would be a big money-sink that accomplishes very little. They never fooled anyone except the headline-reading algorithms.

The fact is Ukraine’s interception rate was never very high to begin with.

In last week Ukraine’s interception rate of any ballistic missile is 0 %. In previous years it could achieve 25% in the best of days, against subsonic cruise missiles. Against ballistic missiles (primarily older variants of Iskander’s with no evasive capabilities or decoys) the intercept rate was lower.

Against drones intercept rates can be higher but probably have never exceeded 50%. Even that interception ration should be at record lows right now.

Basically Russian long range munition usage should be dropping as less decoys are needed, larger portion of strike packages hit where they are aimed. On the flip side of the coin Russian missile and drone stockpiles are therefore increasing faster than before, with production being higher as well.

Yes, will the Arena M fitted vehicles lead to a  Брусиловский прорыв without the same casualty numbers as in WWI in this Drone War I?

Perhaps a vehicle will be fitted with hundreds of Arena M devices so that it could absorb hundreds of drone hits to create a line weakness to be exploited. The RF should call it a Brusilov vehicle – that should get some heads exploding.

Western war planners appear to have a serious problem with logistics, supply chains, and estimating the targets of their aggression resolve. In the second half of the 20th century the US could wage war and make butter. That appeared to still be the case in the early 21st century when targets of Western aggression were small despotic states or undeveloped. Waging war with near-peer states appears to be beyond the capacity of the West, who are loath to impose restrictions on the consumption of citizens in order to wage war that requires some sacrifice to living standards.

🇺🇦 UKRAINE EXHUMES OUN FOUNDER YEVHEN KONOVALETS FOR REBURIAL WITH MILITARY HONORS
The remains of Yevhen Konovalets have been exhumed from Crooswijk Cemetery in Rotterdam and will be transported to Ukraine for reburial at the National Military Memorial Cemetery with special honors.
Konovalets commanded the Ukrainian Military Organization (UVO), an organization that employed sabotage and political violence, before founding the far-right Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists (OUN) in 1929.
Under Konovalets, Ukrainians carried out a campaign of violence against Poles, while he established contacts with German military and intelligence circles.
He led the OUN until 1938, when Soviet intelligence officer Pavel Sudoplatov assassinated him in Rotterdam with a bomb concealed in a box of chocolates.
The OUN would subsequently cooperate with Nazi Germany during World War II, while factions and forces from the movement became implicated in mass violence against Poles.

The second half of 20th century was a time when US could utilize any local resource anywhere in the world to wage a war. There was total un-opposed freedom of movement, freedom to move troops and equipment, like the one before Desert Storm. Freedom to move troops into Korea, or Vietnam using Philippines, Japan and Cam Ranh Bay, without Vietnamese ability to oppose US logistics.

They even still have freedom of logistics to Europe as Russia doesn’t oppose it, US movement. But now logistics no longer matter, at least that much because Russia flat-out defeated everything Nato could muster in Ukraine. And I don’t really see any sort of US build-up going on in Europe right now. It’s now a matter of industrial capacity, not logistics, that is limiting US deployments. And society, economy is bankrupted, both in moralistically and financially.

The physical front line of Russia-Nato runs along Orekhov-Pavlograd-Slavyansk-Kharkov-Sumy line. Nato’s logistics to this line is quite hindered or restricted. Russia’s logistics to this line is not hindered beyond marginal effects of drone strikes on the Taganrog-Melitopol highway. Which also seems to have decreased significantly.

Maybe combination of passive protection of vehicles, recent strikes in large AFU drone warehouses, hitting Ukraine’s gas stations and ports, locomotives etc. So Ukraine’s attacks have significantly dropped off or become less effective.

This was the effort of Nato. The Barbarossa, or Desert storm equivalent of today. Nato had completely unhindered build-up in Romania and Poland supported by all EU members, UK and US and lost fare and square. Once Russia destroys AFU remnant manpower stuck in the Donbass enclave, AFU will never recover regardless of how many more Nato weapons it gets.

Weapon hosting warehouses and production lines discovered by Russia’s vast HUMINT and SIGINT network are getting hit unopposed now.

Perhaps the American objective is not so much victory over Russia and Iran—two unattainable goals—
but rather gaining control over oil and gas,
something they are achieving despite all the rhetoric;
with sanctions against Russian “shadow fleet” tankers and the blocking of the Iranian strait,
American companies are amassing astronomical profits.

The US had the same problem with Japan in 1944-1945, as there were no real large military equipment factories to bomb once and for all, but thousands of small workshops that built a single small part of a weapons system. For example, the small factory owned by director Miyazaki’s father built part of the instrumentation for the Mitsubishi airplanes. In the end, the only solution they found was to incinerate entire cities with napalm and magnesium, destroying not only the population (pure Nazi horror) but also all the microscopic factories.

So … would your strategy be combined arms offensives like the 2023 Ukrainian offensive, 2024 Kursk or this winters Zaporizhzhia counter offensive? They took ground fast in each case but got lost badly in every case.
When the Soviets rebuilt the Donbas after WW2 they built all the mines, mills and factories to fight and win a nuclear war … every one is a fortress. After the 2013 coup NATO invested $$$Billions of our tax dollars, digging, pouring concrete and making the entire region into a interconnected system of fortifications.  Think about how much concrete you can pour in 8 years.
What we are seeing today is the rate of movement assaulting a fortified region in the days of satellite targeting and drone warfare. A small team of gamers hidden in some random basement can stop a battalion from advancing … the Russians could go the combined arms armour route but Kursk wasn’t fortified like the Donbas is and the Ukrainians still got annihilated.
So what would your strategy be if you were a Russian general?

I watched the two “old dogs” Chas Freeman and Colonel Wilkerson and listened very closely to Mr. Freeman’s words, which confirm many Barfly contentions. The more alarming words were spoken by Mr. Wilkerson but weren’t any stronger than some of my musings. The Big Problem is the Outlaw nature of the US Empire and its complete inability to conduct diplomacy and unwillingness to behave as an equal to any other nation so amicable relations–peace–can be attained. Rome was addicted to war and conquest and so is the American Empire. The easy way out would be to become a genuine partner with the entire world in the promotion of genuine peaceful development without any colonial attributes–Win-Win as China says. Instead, the Empire continues to try and implement the Wolfowitz Doctrine of Full Spectrum Dominance despite the clear signs that’s an impossibility.

“Richard Wolff & Michael Hudson: The Destruction of Modern Nations” is a two-hour long grad-level lecture that reiterates some points while providing new information. It was recorded a few days ago. IMO, most will benefit from the time invested as there’s no current book that covers what they do in such a short amount of time.

As for Ukraine, IMO it’s been de facto NATO since the 2014 coup with NATO being at war with Russia since that moment as I’ve described often. Russia now admits that truth. Putin is currently touring Siberia and the Far East holding discussions and opening new industrial and educational facilities that’s producing much to report. RT published an important article today, “BRICS discusses interlinking payment systems and digital currencies” that also reminds readers the BRICS Summit is only one month away.

Miniturization as permitted by microchip is beginning to provide the layered defenses previously enjoyed by only aircraft carriers. As I see it this Drone War I technology trend will continue.

I would put it to you that the RF will keep coming with these innovations because they see everything Ukraine as an attack on Mother Russia. This is why the RF does so well with washing machine circuitboards. This is also why, at least in the American consciousness, intervention into civil wars is a poor choice, a lesson taught by the Vietcong.

The incentive for battlefield technology inovations on the west side, like in Indochina, is profit and avoidance of risk. So not much incentive al all, really. The result is focus on wunderwaffen (Agent Orange anyone?), as we at this bar have been talking about for years.

Now comes the narrative that Ukraine needs missle interceptors. The only product in the western consciousness fitting this “interceptor” moniker is the Patriot system, with its extremely limited utility and extraordinary expense. Correct me if I’m wrong, but the US and NATO (Not Able To Organize) have nothing else.

Yet, the “Ukraine is Winning” narrative has kept these little facts out of sight and out of mind.

Japanese surrender had more to do with the destruction of Japanes forces in China by the Red Army than with US air raids, many of them no more than sheer terrorism. Therefore the Hiroshima/Nagasaki myth. Indeed the US refused Japanese surrender until they could probe the bombs, not the other way round. They held the Japs militarists hooked on their demand to sue and hang the Tenno for warcrimes. After Hiroshima/Nagasaki they instantly dropped that demand.

But that is too much for nazi catdog to comprehend.

Sasha Kots about logistics warfare in Bessarabia:

It’s encouraging to see how our tactics for missile and drone strikes against the enemy’s logistics are improving. I’ve written many times that preventing movement across bridges is not so much about their complete destruction, but about denying the enemy the use of that logistical route.
Now, Ukrainian sources are posting videos of trucks burning near Mayaki in the Odesa region. Blocking the road with burning trucks is perhaps even more effective than destroying a bridge span. The key in this matter is not to stop, but to continue increasing the congestion. Ultimately, this will lead to a collapse in supply and will cripple the war effort of the clique controlled by the “Low-brow” and their enslaved flock.

So much about complaints overrepair of the Mayaki bridge.

Destroying trucks on roads with drones will fill up the roads with scrap metal and block the roads over long distances. Concentrating on core highways between Poland, Kiev, Dnipro, the ones between Romania and Odessa, Dnipro and Uman. If Russia can have these long range drones, maybe even automated to hit trucks it will cripple Nato logistics and drone launching potential in Ukraine.

The Ukrainian ‘success’ rate was far above of what any others country’s air defense would hope to achieve. A typical example of that from July 9:

I always thought they just used between 60-75% after watching it for a few months. It was always made up like the ghost of kiev.

Main border crossings between Hungary and Ukraine:
Záhony – Chop (Tisa): Open 24 hours a day; this is the primary road and rail crossing for passengers and international trains (such as the Budapest-Kyiv route).
Luzhanka – Beregsurany: Road crossing open 24 hours a day for car traffic.
Vylok – Tisabec: Road checkpoint operating 24 hours a day.
Other minor crossings: Kosino – Barabash and Dzvinkove – Lonya.
Then there are the main crossings between Poland and Ukraine—all strictly intact, heaven forbid the “Ucro-Nazis” shouldn’t be able to receive weapons and drones.

These are the border crossings between Poland and “Ucronazistan”:

**Major Crossings and Roads**
* **Krakivets – Korczowa:** Connected to the A4 road in Poland and the M11 in Ukraine; it is one of the fastest and most modern crossings for road and freight traffic.
* **Shehyni – Medyka:** Located near Lviv, it handles mixed traffic (cars) and significant pedestrian flow.
* **Rava-Ruska – Hrebenne:** A strategic road artery open 24 hours a day in the northern sector of the border.
* **Dorohusk – Yahodyn:** One of the largest commercial crossings for truck transport between the two countries.

**Other Minor Crossings**
* Smilnytsia – Krościenko (cars and buses)
* Hrushev – Budomezh (cars)
* Ustyluh – Zosin and Uhryniv – Dolhobycz

“It did not take long for that delusion to evaporate. Ukraine, and more or less all of NATO, has run out of air-defense missiles. It no longer has the capability to even touch low-and-slow flying cruise missiles.”

It’s brilliant for Russia right now but both Europe and the US will eventually close that gap by ramping up production.  It’s only a matter of time.

Europe is stuffed, it has an energy deficit, a raw materials deficit and and a skills deficit. Even if the last one is solved, the first two are intractable.

But this is all rearguard action from a busted flush of the american strategic leadership that fucked up the biggest racket in the history of the world through their sheer incompetence. Some vaingloriously titled flies would have us believe these same numbnuts are executing some brilliant plan instead of just desperately to keep the thing afloat long enough for them to loot a little more wealth (and quickly convert it out of american currency).

Wilkerson concluded his chat with Haiphong warning that the Outlaw Empire’s disarmed to the point where all that remains are its nukes, an unwelcome yet honest assessment. So, the grifters and rent seekers who thought they’d use the Empire’s military to extort the world now face the impossibility of their dreams because the use of nukes means the end of their party. IMO, that spells Checkmate for the Empire. So, it can surrender and change its behavior or kick the chessboard over and use its nukes and cap off its madness by igniting global destruction and the likely end of Humanity. The current situation that generated my conclusion isn’t going to change aside from worsening and confirming it,

“SINCE FEBRUARY 24, UKRAINE HAS NOT SHOT DOWN ANY OF 210 KH-22 MISSILES, ONE OF WHICH HIT DNIPRO RESIDENTIAL BUILDING: THERE ARE NO AVAILABLE MEANS,” IHNAT
“Missiles flew to different regions of Ukraine. First and foremost, the enemy was trying to hit critical infrastructure facilities and other targets. We can see that a residential building in Dnipro, which was hit by a Kh-22 missile, was also targeted. I emphasize that it is impossible to shoot down Kh-22 missiles with the means we have in our arsenal,” — Ihnat said.
The Spokesman said that according to Lieutenant General Mykola Oleschuk, the Commander of Ukraine’s Air Force, since December 24, more than 210 missiles of this type have been launched on the territory of Ukraine.

Actually they fired at least 4 Patriot interceptors last night against the KN-23 falling on Kiev. No interceptions.
I am however more interested in the reports about the so called ground attack S-400: in my opinion that was  just Ukrainian propaganda to justify their Patriot hitting civilian spaces, and now that the Patriots are amost exhausted the mysterious ground-attack S-400 is firing no more.

Quick summary:  MAGA has collapsed. The entire middle who described themself as MAGA 9 months ago now describe themselves as independent. Millennials will never be Republican for as long as Fox News boomercons are within the coalition. Involvement if foreign wars with Iran is a betrayal. Republican bloodbath shaping up.

Apropos for the topic of this discussion board:

55:38 Ukraine war. So, that’s simple. I mean, the American public elected Donald Trump in part, of course, the anti-war platform was huge. What did Donald Trump himself, guys, promise to do in Ukraine?

55:49 End the war in hours. That’s right. This is not a popular war. It doesn’t matter if your favorite social media influencer

55:57 just got paid tens of thousands or even millions from Ukraine to go over there and sit down with the president and pretend like they’re popular. Nobody cares about Ukraine at all.

56:09 Russia scare is over, guys. Move on.

With respect to GenZ being mistrustful of Government (This gives this old man hope):

30:49 Um, they’re just not a mythbelieving society the way that the boomers are and the silent

30:57 generation was and the traditionals were. They’re very, very different. They don’t take government’s word for it. You tell them someone’s got a WMD, they tell

31:06 you, “Stuff it. Show me evidence.” Like, they don’t buy it. Could just been hit with too much. The lies over WMDs, the

31:13 financial crisis, the COVID situation, Donald Trump’s a Russian asset they were told. I mean, they have heard one major

31:23 lie after another that has been completely debunked now. They trust nobody. And I think what the right

31:30 misunderstood is that they don’t trust you either. Just because your guy won doesn’t mean they were going to trust him if he said that Iran’s going to get

31:38 a nuke and and blow up Israel. Nobody believes that. Nobody. All right? And just because you put Cash Patel at the

31:45 FBI doesn’t mean they believe you purged all the people who put you and are holding them accountable for the

31:52 collusion hoax from Crossfire Hurricane or Arctic Frost or any of that. They’re not going to believe you. It’s just ridiculous. It’s it it’s totally re just

32:00 because you put RFK at the head of HHS does not mean they’re going to support our public health officials. You know, they’re going to believe our public health officials. You had to earn that

32:09 trust and you had Okay. So, so this raises this raises another I mean just like there was some questions of why he President Trump would go down the road he did on the

32:18 Epstein file knowing ahead of time what that would do then we have to ask the same here with that big of a negative and him campaigning I mean I’m talking

32:27 back to 2015 2016 and all the way through I you know I’m I’m out on stupid wars and whatever that got so many people I was one of them in 2016 that

32:36 supported him for that reason with that polling data ahead of time, especially after Midnight Hammer.

This is the perfect opportunity for Russia to use its low-end missiles on Ukie positions particularly its cities. Russia should also buy low-end North Korean missiles for the purpose.

A key weakness of the Russian campaign is the deliberate sparing of land routes to Ukieland from Romania and Poland, and sea routes too. The very limited 2 week strikes on ships plying to and from Ukieland ended yesterday. I’m at a loss to understand this act of restraint. Turkey as expected is sending a massive stock of weapons to Ukies. Russia can bust them by severing Ukie land and sea routes and airports with cargo planes.

Posted by: Jason | Aug 11 2026 22:51 utc | 80

Don’t forget the other requirements of interceptor missiles stacking up for USA.
1. Israel. Hezbollah, Houthis, etc. always wait for Israel to withdraw to attack.

2. Taiwan 2027. A massive stock of interceptors are needed to defend the region not just Taiwan. Otherwise the US AI industry is bust in addition to loss of Taiwan.

3. NATO and US military allies’ data centers will be targets of cheap drones. Given their strategic value interceptors will have to be installed.

4. GCC countries continue to demand interceptors.

5. Boat launched drones by pirates, etc. is a thing on the cards. Some ships may also need them.

There is no way NatO in debt can meet this urgent demand. No rare earths, no funds, no equipment, no factories, no public support, no skills.

Russia and China should be closely watching activity at US defense manufacturing sites. High activity sites and the ones. Also shipments from those locations. These are handy for future spiderweb drone shows on US soil.

Stuff the toilets with T-shirts and a (eh-hem) laundry drier exhaust filter fire on the Ford. Seems the Gen X sailers dont do so well on carriers. More trans training needed, clearly (Active duty Navy Lieutenant Commander Blake Dremann has 11 deployments under his belt – and that’s not all -, but his longest and most personal battle has been fighting for transgender rights in the military).

Just a Navy problem, no doubt.

No … if China wants to destroy the Taiwanese industry they can do it and the interceptor missiles won’t make the slightest difference. The only value for Taiwan having missiles is for deterrence and perhaps retaliation if the worst comes to the worst.

Of course we all hope it never goes that far.

Full court press squelching this one per LLM:

Reports claiming that 7 US Navy sailors were killed in a knife fight on the deck of an aircraft carrier originate from unverified, state-affiliated Iranian media sources and have not been confirmed or reported by the US military or independent journalists. The narrative began circulating via outlets like Iran’s Tasnim News Agency and Press TV.

These reports allege that a violent brawl involving bladed weapons broke out aboard the USS Abraham Lincoln following a crew confrontation with a visiting Central Command (CENTCOM) adviser over extended deployment stress.

That report of 7 sailors being killed appears to be true.  It suggests a very, very serious problem on the ship. Apparently some 200 family members of the sailors had met with naval seniors in the USA, because of the poor conditions. The fight broke out when a navy senor suit turned up to talk on the carrier.

Basically the carrier MUST return to base and possibly all crew should be redistributed and a new crew recruited/transferred. It also suggests that the leadership on the boat is not up to scratch. It also suggests that the guys are scared, really scared.  If the reports of food scarcity on the boat are true (ie onging not just a once off) then there is serious logistic issues for the fleet.

Trump MUST lift the blockade.  Not sure how he sells it to his base but he has no choice.

*** The incident erupted after an adviser to US Central Command (CENTCOM) chief Brad Cooper boarded the carrier to address mounting complaints from crew members following protests by their families over the ship’s prolonged deployment, according to Tasnim News Agency, citing an informed military source.

China would not destroy Taiwanese semiconductors industry but will decide who can buy what and in what quantities.

Of course Taiwan will not hand itself to China. It has to be taken over. That requires destroying both offensive and defensive capabilities of Taiwan. That is achieved through kinetic strikes. Both Taiwan and USA are keen to prevent these strikes. That’s why they need interceptors. Plus if others in the region interfere they too will be targeted. They too need interceptors.

There’s no peaceful integration with Taiwan because unlike Hong Kong and Macau, Taiwan is following a confrontational and militaristic hence foolish approach. It deserves to be put in its place.

Militarily taming Taiwan also brings sense to South Korea, Japan, the Philippines and Australia. A must for peace in the Pacific.

One reason for Russia to spare land, rail, sea and air cargo traffic into Ukieland may be the Druzba oil pipeline which is still operational. However this only supplies to 2 countries. It is essentially insignificant.

RF should bust all logistic networks of Ukieland that links it to the rest of the world. Cheaper than suffering terror attacks, interception, battlefield adventures and hunting down weapons stocks, trains, etc. within Ukieland.

On freely available air and sea traffic monitoring websites anyone can see how many vessels are servicing Ukieland. Too many. Ukieland still has a GDP of $211 billion. Far too much for a cannonfodder supplier.

Zelensky has been telling the world and his own people sweet little lies about the war for a long time. Same for NATO. Right now and well previous to current times, air defence has been practically useless in Ukraine yet repeatedly every day on the live map claims are constantly made about shooting down Russian missiles and drones that are impossible to believe.

He cannot win a war with lies. Sometimes propaganda can work for morale and strategic reasons but the type he largely uses and spreads is fundamentally delusion (possibly driven by cocaine use) and he will never win this war. It was obvious in the first year that Ukraine would never win, so Zelensky is simply trying to keep himself alive, collect more corrupt graft acting out his role, and serving the purposes of a phony war directed at Russia started by the US and its willing puppets in the Eurozone of delusion.

Here is what Zaluzhny said, only in the last week:

“In 2026, Ukraine used all weapon systems and doctrines for their use that NATO has, with the exception of Tomahawks, nuclear weapons, aircraft carriers, and F-35s,” he told journalists at a diplomatic event in Kiev, as quoted by Apostrophe on Wednesday. “The reserves have been depleted. Russia found countermeasures for everything.”

“Supporters of Ukraine have repeatedly described Western weapons supplied to Kiev as potential “game changers.” However, the delivery of Stinger and Javelin missiles, HIMARS rocket launchers, Abrams tanks, ATACMS missiles, and F-16 fighter jets has not produced a decisive military breakthrough.”
https://www.rt.com/russia/643926-zaluzhny-nato-tools-ineffective/
(The source is RT, but Ukrainian newspapers repeat the same comments)

Zaluzhny as well as two other candidates share more than 60% approval ratings for potential leadership change, while Zelensky’s popularity hovers around 30% or less. Not that different to the US president now. Such is self-delusion and spreading of persistent lies and disinformation, in the end no one believes what you say and you are just fooling yourself. Every one from Sun tzu (1) onward has basically pointed this out. Bullshit does not win wars and we currently have two great examples with Ukraine and the Trump’s Iran folly.

(1) It is said that if you know  your enemies and know yourself, you will not be imperiled in a hundred battles; if you do not know your enemies but do know yourself, you will win one and lose one; if you do not know your enemies nor yourself, you will be imperiled in every single battle.  Sun Tzu.
