Decades ago when I was in college and grad school I had a strong side-interest in the Soviet Union and its history. During those years I may have read as many as one hundred books on those subjects.

At that point, my views on most historical matters were almost entirely mainstream and conventional, closely conforming to what I had absorbed from our major media outlets and standard history textbooks.

During the last couple of decades my understanding of the world and its history has undergone the radical transformation that I have documented in my lengthy American Pravda series. But this tidal wave of revelations has left intact my view of the USSR, which has scarcely changed since the late 1970s. Indeed, the very title of my series drew upon the name of the leading Soviet newspaper, which then and now has been a watchword for dishonest government propaganda.

Much of my initial perspective on Soviet society was shaped by Pulitzer Prize-winner Hedrick Smith, the longtime Moscow bureau chief of New York Times, and his thick bestseller on the subject. Published a half-century ago in 1976, The Russians immediately attracted great critical acclaim and huge national sales, and I had read it a few years later.

I recently reread Smith’s book for the first time since my freshman year in college, and its portrayal of the Soviet Union still closely matched my current beliefs.

His 700 pages of text depicted a bizarre, dysfunctional society, irrational and very poorly designed…..

now onto empire… watcher was hypothesizing the end of the usa empire and had left a good link on this topic in the latest thread from yesterday…. b has now added a number of other articles that all seem to point to the ultimate demise of the usa empire… obviously it won’t happen overnight, but i can see it happening sooner then later… the examples b’s articles highlight in the titles says exactly this.. cheers everyone!

where did you grab that from exile??? it seems to me whether someone is a christian or a jew – the intolerance towards those of a different religion is consistent.. none of them are capable of expressing tolerance for different religious beliefs… how do you see it?? you think one is worse then the other??

Reminded me of the failed seals that need replacing on a diesel engine distributor that need replacing. The vehicle is unregistered and sort of conservation status now, so just not got around to it, even though I have the kit … sort of putting it off as have to remove quite a lot to get to the distributor plus various alignments are critical …lots of pieces to get right. It just started jetting out a spray of diesel one day. Many engines before 90’s did not have computer control, this diesel would run without electric.

As have worked on and owned a series of a specific vehicle produced from early 80’s to present, all the changes in feel and performance are very obvious, as well as weaknesses when it comes to repair. Nothing like a standard carb and mechanical ignition distribution, but modern engines are more efficient and ‘smoother’… have to be an electrician as well to tune or repair them and engine control units are usually locked and either very expensive to replace with original (if available) , or very complicated to modify with a substitute (usually expensive also). Expensive meaning as in compared to value of vehicle.

That goes right through to evs, not driven one but can usually tell which are by the way they drive.

Lots of stories around over the years of cost and delays due to computer components, from tractors through to industrial machinery.

Before it used to be that mechanical parts had to be ordered from abroad from manufacturer etc. , now there are tonnes of spare part suppliers online for those. Cheapest is usually to buy another cheap similar vehicle for parts though, often those can be found for little, or with only some minor detail making them unsellable for use.

The funnest diesel I owned was on a small boat, had a massive flywheel that helped handstart it….even remember one larger vintage boat going upriver and it fired about once every two seconds, sounded each with a loud bang…not sure what engine it had but could more or less imagine it.

In my view the British were behind the Jewish component in the development of the USSR. Before the revolution the Tsar had been manipulated to look down on the reformer Sergei Witte because he collaborated with the Rothschilds.

It was very important for Britain to prevent investements among the rivals Germany and Russia.

Witte was partly blamed also for the debacle at Tsushima. But that was partly caused by the British imperialists since they delayed Russias imports while they supported Japan with War ships.

Be aware that they simultaneously had Houston Chamberlain writing a bestseller instructing Germans to hate Jews and Slavs. And Houstons brother in parallell was active in Japan and lectured the elites in the Japanese Navy. He and another British expert on Japan provided the connections Britain needed to know and influence them. The protocols of Zion was apparently written by an anglophile Occrana police but he went to France and Switzerland and in both those countries the Scottish Rite was important.

Edward VII had a russian speaking personal correspondent in Russia when those protocols emerged. I have no certain proof that Edward had that document translated in 1906 when it was registered at the British museum but it would seem odd with that kind of knowhow available if British Intelligence wouldnt have known the content long before it was officially translated in the US in 1919 and in Britain in 1920. I deem the probability to be very high that Britain had a hand in the protocols for the purpose of pitting Russia agains the Jews like they did with the Germans.

Ron Unz has provided freedom of speech and that is a good thing but since most americans dont really are aware of how Britain has controlled all opinionmaking and how academic history has turned out, it will be lacking.

I noticed how Michael Hudson has begun to use the term Protection Racket in connection with how inefficient the promised protection of the GCC countries by the US has been. And that certainly merits to be called a racket. But I also see the US/UK/EUs relation to Israel and the Zionists as yet another protection Racket. And in that case it is part of the racket that people think the Jews are more powerful than the other part. This includes hundreds of Jews flowing from Brooklyn to the USSR and ‘taking over’ the revolution. Britain usually isnt accused of anything decisive. Since they have had enormous influence over the narrative people are educated with this is what many believe.

Jacob Schiff has often been pointed to for having funded the revolution in the earlier phase. To my surprise AI didnt seem to confirm it but I haven spent much effort about it. With AI one has to persistent. I bring it upp because Schiff went from Germany to the US and it is extremely unlikely that he knew anything about any other than Russian culprits behind the emergence of the protocols and pogroms there. Therefore it wouldnt be surpricing if the rumours were true. But payments may be handled in multiple ways for an empire intent of wrecking a rival.

According To Oleg Platonov who read the confiscated Masonic Archives a sum of $50M was paid by the US/UK France funding the revolution.
There was some other party also but I dont remember. Maybe Italy?
Platonov also mentioned twice that sum but I dont remember the details

Genuinely shocked. But what else is new when you go digging only to realize the last several decades has seen a massive effort to obscure the less palatable takes of the great minds of modernity: Hegel, Dostoevsky, Kierkegaard.

When reading Rene Girard as of late, I notice he has a sharp rebuke for the Anti-semites but I see now he utterly fails to mention Dostoesvsky’s take on the matter, a curious absence considering Girard has emerged as a force only through his Dostoevsky-scholarship.

As for Kierkegaard, late in his life he went from indirect communication to a full-frontal attack on the state church and its policy towards Jewry. Something sped up at the end (motus in fine velocior) for Kierkegaard.

As I get older in life, my anger only seems to grow stronger. A righteous filling of the cup.

i see it much the same in your first sentence and 2nd paragraph psychohistorian… as to the question at the end – i think it can only be answered individually by each person and i am not sure how others would respond to this… losing a sense of awe is essentially losing any awareness of where we are in the universe as i see it.. thus the search for a god, or God would naturally come out of this.. on the other hand given our sense of awe, some might associate that sense of awe with a type of god behind our magnificent cosmos.. so there are a lot of possibilities here..

Once mutual trust is established-which will take time–along with increased trade and people-to-people contacts, then perhaps a basis for discussing the nuclear issue will be laid.

Seems obvious to me that the idea of “the creator” first arose when humans transitioned from hunter/gatherer to active shapers of their own surroundings and environment. The attributes of these super-human beings, whether mono-theistic or not, were the extension of man’s abilities if he were both immortal and omnipotent.

Yes, man created the Gods of modern religion. This is not to say there is no ultimate creator, just that humans can no more comprehend it than an ant can comprehend a human. A lucky few may catch a partial glimpse before a foot lands on them.

We think it was dumb for The Church to persecute Galileo, but “crazy /radical” ideas are still silenced, even now.

There’s a guy, Dutchsinse, who studies earthquakes, and his theory is that the waves of energy pass through the planet, so a major earthquake in one region will have a corresponding earthquake a few days later at the antipode.

There were large earthquakes in Colombia last week, and now there are large earthquakes in Indonesia, the antipode.

Dutchsinse has been basically banned from YouTube, so I don’t catch his updates like I once did..

Anyway, there was another large earthquake in Indonesia over this weekend.

US President Donald Trump said Sunday he had instructed the Pentagon to substantially reduce joint military exercises with South Korea, while also criticizing Seoul for refusing to participate in US actions against Iran.
Trump said on Truth Social that it was too late to cancel the exercises entirely but that he was “not happy” the United States had agreed to participate.
He said the drills were costly and sent an “inappropriate and hostile” signal to North Korea, citing his “very good relationship” with its leader Kim Jong Un.

This could be another example of the classic ‘correlation and causality’ conundrum. Statistically, you are more likely to get wet if you use an umbrella than if you don’t. So should you avoid umbrellas?

ZH has an interesting posting up about how Apple is handling AI in China where they can’t us US products.
Below is a quote from the piece giving some flavor of what China is letting Apple do

It is my understanding that our globe also continually resonates at various frequencies because of global lightening storms that send out electromagnetic pulses into the space between Earth’s surface and the edge of the atmosphere (ionosphere) which forms an air-and-electricity shell.
The main and strongest frequency is is called the Schumann resonance at 7.83 Hz with weaker higher frequencies appearing at rough harmonics of 14, 20, 26, 33, 39, and 45 Hz.

An interesting tidbit is that they had to make the space station resonate at Schumann frequency for mental health reasons.

I was sleeping to frequency youtubes many years ago. Mostly memorization and memory improvement as I was starting a very difficult project.

One night I tried the “financial” one.

the next day, a woman brought a priceless artifact to me, and gave me $300 to research it. (I usually denied payment for quick appraisals, but she insisted, so I did the research and found what I needed to find). It did not take me long to find the evidence it was priceless, and she gave me an extra $100. Only time something like that happened ever in my business. I estimated it worth $70,000, (not priceless, but well above most of what I saw for sure, and it was from about the 1780s.).

And I know you are thinking, well, why not just listen to the money frequency every night. Well, I tried it again the next night, and nothing happened. And in my work with such things, I have come to find its better not to try to change the universe, so I just went back to memory and intelligence frequencies. No idea if they helped. Kind of hard to gauge.

I have the two volume set of Dostoyevsky “A Writer’s Diary” but I have not read it all.

In Volume 2, Chapter II of the March 1877 entry there is a 16-page entry (of small, dense writing typical of Dostoyevsky) from page 637 to page 653 entitled “The Jewish Question”. It is important to place quotes in context. From page 644:

“And yet these same Jews in many respects shunned the Russians, they refused to take meals with them, looked upon them with haughtiness (and where?—in a prison!) and generally expressed squeamishness and aversion towards the Russian, towards the “‘native” people. The same is true in the case of soldiers’ armories, and everywhere—all over Russia: make inquiries, ask if a Jew, as a Jew, as a Yiddisher, is being abused in armories because of his faith, his customs. Nowhere is he being abused, and that is also true of the people at large. On the contrary, I assure you that in armories, as elsewhere, the Russian commoner perceives and understands only too well (besides, the Jews themselves do not conceal it) that the Jew does not want to take meals with him, that he has an aversion toward him, seeking as much as possible to avoid him and segregate himself from him. Yes, it is a quote from the pen of Dostoyevsky, but context puts an entirely different interpretation on it!

And then Dostoyevsky goes further to explain his position (page 651):

“Despite all the “fantasies” and everything I have written above, however, I favor full and complete equalization of rights because such is Christ’s law, such is the Christian principle. Butif so, what was the point of writing so many pages, and what did I intend to express if I am so contradicting myself ?—Specifically, the fact that I am not contradicting myself, and that from the Russian native side I see no difficulties in extending Jewish rights; I do, however, assert that these obstacles are incomparably greater on the part of the Jews than on the part of the Russians, and that if up to the present the thing which one wishes wholeheartedly has not come to pass, the blame therefor is infinitely less on the Russian than on the Jew himself. Similarly what I was telling about the common Jew who refuses to maintain intercourse and share his meals with the Russians who were not angry with him, who did not retaliate but, on the contrary, at once grasped the situation and forgave him, saying: “this is because such is his religion” — similarly this we often perceive in the intelligent Jew — a boundless and haughty prejudice against the Russian.”

Proxies often are Wolfs. It is seen as a welcome feature by the empire.
The empire benefits the harder it is for the proxies to join the imperial rivals or otherwise become more independent of the empire. Thus bad behaviour is sought and rewarded. The difference in the Jewish case is that they have simultaneously been delegated to handle finances. That adds an extra reason for prefering to see them isolated and hated.

The symbiosis is not be openly shown too clearly. Imperial propaganda benefits if people believe in Wag the Dog.

There are two different things.

If the attacks are launched from Ukraine, then Russia destroying Ukraine’s infrastructure should degrade Nato’s capacity to launch strikes through Ukraine. This is what’s currently going on.

The other unasked question is whether these attacks are actually launched from Kazahkstan. We don’t hear any comments on this but considering the proximity of Kazakhstan on many of these targets is a valid question. Kazahkstan is de-facto at least partially a British puppet regime. We have heard British diplomats move long range drones to the country in diplomatic mail.

I don’t believe NATO requires much infrastructure to launch drones from Ukraine. The place could be turned to glass and vehicles could still find their way through and launch stuff into Russia. What infrastructure are you thinking of?

You also have to consider that Nato has drone stockpiles closer to the staging areas, and there needs to be vehicles transporting drones from the stockpile to staging areas. Or alternatively, the big trucks need to drive back and forth between stockpile and staging area to reload.

Destroying gas stations across the board reduces the tactical maneuvering ability of trucks hauling these modified launching trailers. They would rather have to more frequently drive back further west to refuel. That in itself will decrease drone launching efficiency and increase delays for any truck.

I know what was meant, but I turned it to question. In fact it is not possible to tell who leads; you might jump on an open threat but the manipulation of influence might be that as a wanted reaction. And so on.

I don’t say I am unbiased, being British that is hardly possible. However my view is more ‘standard’ , there was rapprochement between Britain and Russia at the time, understandings between royal houses were far more valued, even during conflicts, than foreign ideological tangents.

So I don’t even say Britain was behind revolution in Russia, not in the more complete sense of government and monarchy anyway.

That some might have been working in or from Britain towards upheaval of Russia is another matter. The start of WW1 was a manipulated event, that drew on the entente, and I do not think Britain was interested or even capable of causing that level of confluence.

It isn’t me who decides however, what occurred is what occurred so each to their theory or what they feel is true.

Rothschilds seem to have been involved everywhere, though.

I didn’t say that Unz is doing the work of Jewry nor did I accuse of him of anything.

Perhaps I shouldn’t have led with ‘the point of the site…’ but frankly that clearly is the point of the site.

Ron Unz is an extraordinarily uninteresting persona and most things having to do with ‘the tribe’ are equally boring and lacking in joie de vivre.

Spending too much time in those environments – or much time at all other than for strictly research purposes – produces apathy and hatred.

If you don’t see or aren’t aware of that on some level I can’t help you.
