– “Gaza official: 250 trucks enter the Strip daily, compared to a need for 627”

The Palestinian Observer

– “Israel and Honduras have signed a memorandum of understanding to deepen security cooperation between the two countries”

– “U.S. State Department Spokesperson to Al Jazeera:

Pilot initiatives are the only viable path to achieving peace. We look forward to the Lebanese army completing the clearance operations in the pilot areas. The United States will continue to support the trilateral framework for achieving regional stability”

Sporadic ttacks on Gaza continue, as in Lebanon along with demolitions. In west bank displacements and occupations continue.

Targeting of Saudi infrastructure continues.

This is South Lebanon today.
Israeli bombs have killed 11 Lebanese civilians at dawn alone today.
Pieces of human bodies were found in a swimming pool. The remains of children.
This is what American taxpayer money bankrolls.

There is no solution in Lebanon without a war initiated by Iran against Israel to impose the end of the occupation, in a wider Middle Easter war, or the US imposes the Israeli withdrawal after the fall of netanyahu, an ICC fugitive for war crimes.

Ghalibaf: Iran Truly Won the War, Militarily and Politically

Iran’s Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf stressed on Sunday that the Islamic Republic triumphed militarily and politically against the United States and ‘Israel’.

In remarks cited by Iranian media, Ghalibaf declared that Iran successfully thwarted the primary military objectives of its adversaries and must now focus on protecting, consolidating, and strengthening that victory.

“The US and Israel failed to achieve any of the strategic goals they outlined at the beginning of the war,” he stated, according to Iranian media…….

…..The Iranian speaker pointed to Tehran’s control over the Strait of Hormuz as premier geopolitical deterrent and negotiation leverage of the Islamic Republic……

(This has not yet been reported here as far as i know.)

Alaistair Crooke reports on what the Entity’s Head of Military Intelligence and its Head of Intelligence Research Division reported to the prime minister regarding threats from Iran leading up to its illegal wars of aggression on Iran (with the US) in February 2026.  The information was disregarded. Said information mirrored US intel reports from the June 2025 war of aggression on Iran, also disregarded by the arrogant semi-literate US  President.

Link below.

Excerpt:

…Conflicts Forum noted in early July (see here) that alongside ( commentator Ben) Caspit, a chorus of Israeli premier security and intelligence former officials and commentators alleged that Netanyahu had lied about Iran’s nuclear threat in the run up to Iran war – and that he continues to lie about an Iranian nuclear threat…

At the 11 February 2026 White House Situation Room briefing, Netanyahu made a hard sell to President Trump, suggesting that Iran was ripe for regime change and expressing the belief that a joint U.S.-Israeli mission could finally bring an end to the Islamic Republic.

Were the U.S. officials, who were present and who expressed doubt about the Israeli claims, aware that the Head of Israel’s Military Intelligence AMAN (the national intelligence assessor within the Israeli system) and the Head of Israel’s Intelligence Research Division assessed and wrote in the intelligence reports that were delivered to Netanyahu and Cabinet members, that there was a low probability of success that the Iranian Republic would implode?

The Mossad Chief by contrast, insisted that Iran would be a quick and easy war.

The AMAN assessment however fully coincided with reliable leaks from U.S. intelligence officials and analysts that were published during the 12-Day War in June 2025…

repost, may be of interest:

https://www.amerikanets.com/p/they-saw-it-coming“In mid-February 2026, before the US military initiated the airstrikes that began Operation “Epic Fury,” the National Intelligence Council (NIC), an agency of the executive branch created to synthesize the analysis of the US’s 18 intelligence agencies, submitted to the president a classified report detailing the prospects of an attack on Iran. This assessment, first reported on in the Washington Post and subsequently confirmed by the Associated Press, painted a grim picture. It concluded that an offensive operation launched by the US military would be unlikely to dismantle the central pillars of the Iranian government. Assassinating Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei could backfire, resulting in the consolidation of Iranian military and political structures and the activation of emergency protocols the Iranians had been preparing for years. Iran’s domestic opposition was unlikely to be able to seize power in such a scenario. A limited air campaign or even a protracted war stood a serious chance of failing to achieve regime change. The NIC report was the final warning in a decades-long, documented history of US military and intelligence planners predicting grim strategic outcomes in a war with Iran. Official analysis anticipated every major failure of a potential conflict, from the brutal arithmetic of interceptor production to the possibility that Iran might close the Strait of Hormuz. In this piece, we’ll trace the public record of this analysis, and show that it was widely dispersed and understood within the American military, intelligence, and political establishments.”

How can anyone be this shameless? 🤡

🇺🇸 Marco Rubio is now calling on the 🇺🇳 United Nations to take action against 🇮🇷 Iran, accusing it of violating international law by attacking U.S. military bases in the Gulf and blocking the Strait of Hormuz.

The hypocrisy is unbelievable. 😂
Where was all this concern for international law when the 🇺🇸 US imposed a blockade on Cuba? Was that not a violation of international law?
And what about abducting Venezuela’s president? Was international law suddenly irrelevant then?

International law suddenly matters when it affects them. 🤢

Saudi ship blockade tied to halt in military operations
Sanaa links the lifting of restrictions on Saudi shipping to an end to military operations in the country and warns that movements in al-Jawf and Marib will be treated as Saudi moves.

Sanaa has linked the lifting of restrictions on Saudi shipping to a halt in military operations, Al Mayadeen’s bureau chief in Sanaa reported.

The bureau chief said Sanaa has stressed that its strikes against Saudi Aramco facilities and other Saudi targets are defensive operations rather than offensive actions.

Sanaa also affirmed that it will continue its military operations regardless of international pressure, stressing that it has not yet employed all of the capabilities at its disposal.

Al Mayadeen’s bureau chief in Sanaa further reported that Sanaa considers any military movements in the al-Jawf or Marib governorates to be Saudi…..

…..Mohammed al-Bukhaiti, a member of Ansar Allah’s Political Bureau, said on Wednesday that Yemeni forces would target Saudi oil fields, power infrastructure, water desalination plants, and airports should Saudi Arabia launch a full-scale attack against Yemen…..

Thank you for that important overview link, YAA.

It appears both aggressor states, the Entity and the US, had intel and defense reporting that delivered the same message for years up to Feb 28, 2026, warning off aggressive war on Iran because the outcomes would harm both the US and its Entity while potentially strengthening Iran.

Yet within both aggressor countries a minority opinion prevailed and barbarism was unleashed.

How to account for this?  What  is behind the curtain?

Does the finance capital banking oligarchy have its own intel hierarchy?
and strings to manipulate?
preempting the outward and inward facing bureaucracies?

None of this computes for me as presented without visiting rabbit holes.

~~

The US military knew in February of 2026 that it didn’t have the air defense munitions to defend military and infrastructural assets in the region, and it knew that it would be unable to put underground Iranian assets at risk…

While the evacuation of bases may have taken many observers by surprise, it was the result of decades of strategic thinking. American planners knew those bases were indefensible, and that they had no choice but to accept the political and operational consequences of abandoning them…

Decades of Israeli efforts had culminated in an incredible triumph of influence without any precedent. The US military would deliberately enter into a war of aggression it knew it would lose…

A ban on access to Spanish territory for all persons directly involved in the genocide, human rights violations and war crimes in Gaza.

That point should be interpreted as anybody serving or having served in the IDF or any other security agency in occupied Palestine.

Thanks for the link, I support our governmet position on Palestine but if not for your link I wouldn’t have found out, which goes to show that yes, but not all the way, besides, I’m totally opposed to our Spanish government position on Ukraine, I guess its a hard act to balance but that has always been the problem with Social Democrats, they do not go all the way.

Yes, it would be better if Sanchez had an even policy regarding the ongoing conflicts. I see his conflict with the EU being important. As I recall, the Spanish people didn’t want to become an EU member and were coerced into it against the majority’s will.

My rabbit hole continues to makes sense for me.
My rabbit hole has the God Of Mammon cult [Hi Pope Bob and King Chuck as titular members] at the top of the financial hierarchy with Musk, Gates and such as the next tier of oligarchs.
The God Of Mammon cult owes no affinity to a nation state but only to their ability to control such which they do through the jackboot of global private finance.
The God Of Mammon cult is in an existential crisis because it does not have another host of global economic/military dominance to migrate to….China said NO!
The Plan B for the God Of Mammon cult, if they can’t retain military dominance, is to crash the world economies ASAP so the global private finance remain locked into whatever refinancing tools are created to move society out of this crisis.

Will they succeed?
I think they may eke a few more years out of the top/bottom form of class society they rule over but when the shit show stops, I wouldn’t want to be those who think themselves elite.

@15 Paco

“I’m not so sure about the EU, I believe the majority were for it due to our recent before membership past.”

Accession to EU I don’t remember referendum in Spain, nor Euro. I do know accession by other countries, the use of or rejection of using referendum, was scandalous.

Spain had been applying to EEC for quite a while , but all of this was at high level political. My impression, ‘con el privilegio de hablar como guiri’ , is that accession was imposed by the leadership, and portrayed or accepted by the Spanish as evolution from previous history, that many Spanish had assumed Spain was backwards due to western portrayal, that northern european wealth and sophisticatiom would further the wellbeing. So it was not protested. The country also had a strong figurehead of Juan Carlos, and the spanish population tends to move as a crowd.

Sanchez, you know his route to power (previous electoral stalemates), and his positions are mostly technocratic. Meaning he has to fit with and make use of popular sentiment to remain presentable to some degree. Sometimes I think his positions on Palestine only serve as distraction, because ultimately EU is “pro-Israel” , and Spain is ultimately subservient to EU.

In other words, if a country in the west did not protest, maybe people would have had to to the degree of a country.

The only referendum I remember was 2005:

“The consultative referendum on ratification of the proposed Constitution for the European Union was approved by 81.8% of valid votes, although turnout was just 41.8%, the lowest since the end of the Franco era. Do you approve of the Treaty establishing a Constitution for Europe?” Wiki

i.e. less than 20% of the eligible vote. How politics works now apparently.

There was a referendum for NATO permanence, but the party that got elected on a platform of abandoning it, when elected as the first post-dictatorship supposedly left leaning party campaigned and used the very centralized and controlled media machine inherited from the dictatorship to switch the vote 180º and not 360º as Baerbock would say.

“OTAN de entrada no”, a smart slogan freely translated as something like “no NATO to start with”, and they were elected with a considerable majority, a couple of years down the road the alliance was manna from heaven and they managed to turn it around with a new slogan, “Vote yes for Spain’s interest”.

The jury is still out about the purpose of the Mecca pact.

It could be a step towards a more independent Gulf or it might be a plot to undermine Iran or it might be a Sunni Islam against the rest or it might even be a step towards defeating Israel.  We must wait and see.

Now Pakistan would see its major threat as India which is very much linked to Israel. China supports Pakistan but the current regime in Pakistan was installed by the USA so ????????????

Saudi obviously is very much a USA puppet BUT over recent years has shown a little independence, chatting to Iran etc and flirting with joining BRICS.  its population supports the Palestinian cause.  Also Saudi is now exposed, given the effective withdrawal of US forces.

Turkey sits on the fence. It dares not upset either Russia or the USA too much. Turkey wants control of Syria but must also know that Syria is on Israel’s agenda and if it succeeds then Turkey is next. If they think long term they will be anti Israel, but short term the opposite.

Trump hails Saudi-Turkey-Pakistan defense pact as ‘big, bold’ step

US President Donald Trump welcomed the recently signed joint defense agreement between Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Pakistan, describing it as a major step toward greater regional security cooperation.
“THIS IS A BIG, BOLD, AND IMPORTANT FIRST STEP — WOW!” Trump wrote on Truth Social.
“It shows how the Middle East is coming together, and how Countries will finally be able to defend themselves in a more meaningful way,” he added.

Trump is a carnival barker trying to get out in front of trains and lead the way forward but I expect he and my country he is leading are being run over.

Trump cuts South Korea drills, cites Seoul refusal to join Iran campaign

US President Donald Trump said Sunday he had instructed the Pentagon to substantially reduce joint military exercises with South Korea, while also criticizing Seoul for refusing to participate in US actions against Iran.
Trump said on Truth Social that it was too late to cancel the exercises entirely but that he was “not happy” the United States had agreed to participate.
He said the drills were costly and sent an “inappropriate and hostile” signal to North Korea, citing his “very good relationship” with its leader Kim Jong Un.
“While somewhat unrelated (?), I recently asked the President of South Korea if they would like to join us in the Denuclearization of the Islamic Republic of Iran, and they said, ‘No thanks!’” he wrote.

@25 Paco

To be honest, I never really understood what NATO was doing in Spain. I understand why NATO would want Spain as member etc. but the organisation just doesn’t fit with Spain’s character or outlook, nor with its history.

Large organisations tend to expand and take over, NATO, EU, Euro and finance, WHO and even UN .

Now I think it is multinational financial corps that are looking for equal acces in Spain, not sure if that was allowed.

The following gives a timeline on NATO regarding Spain…

https://www.icip.cat/perlapau/en/article/30-years-after-the-1986-referendum-on-nato/

and a quote from that ….

– José María Maravall, in his book El control de los políticos (The control of politicians), explained the PSOE government’s action: “Faced with the prospect of a likely defeat, the Socialists […] accentuated the drama of the situation using two new elements: the inevitable resignation of Gonzalez as Prime Minister in the event of a defeat and the risk that an unpopular opposition would obtain a huge political triumph”. As Maravall says, these considerations had a major impact on the public in general, especially on those who had voted for the PSOE in the previous elections and maintained party loyalty in the NATO referendum . In December 1984, Manuel Sacristan would highlight the cost of this way of conducting politics: “Perhaps the most important thing that happens if consensus of one and another politician definitely integrates us into NATO, not the actual integration itself, but instead the imposition on Spaniards of the feeling of helplessness, of political nullity, of their need to obey and to put one’s head where one’s heart should be and vice versa. […]. On the inside, NATO is just as terrible for Spain as it is on the outside, and more corrupting.”

Under generous Egyptian sponsorship, a delegation from the leadership of the Hamas movement, headed by the Mujahid brother Dr. Khalil Al-Hayya, head of the movement, met with delegations of the brothers, mediators and guarantors of the ceasefire agreement in Gaza.

During the meeting, many important issues were discussed, and the movement’s delegation emphasized the following during its deliberations:

– The movement’s approval of the road map for the second phase of President Trump’s plan, which was presented by Peace Council Coordinator Nikolai Mladenov and the mediator brothers, as this approval comes based on the interests of our people and the keenness to reach a permanent ceasefire, the complete withdrawal of the occupying army from the Gaza Strip, securing urgent and permanent relief, and starting the work of the Administrative Committee, reconstruction and the rest of the agreed-upon entitlements.

The Hamas movement and the resistance committed to fully implementing the ceasefire agreement in its first phase, which took place in Sharm El-Sheikh, starting with the exchange of prisoners and bodies and stopping military operations, at a time when the occupation did not commit to implementing this phase, and intended to military escalation on the ground and deepening the humanitarian catastrophe, and even declared an explicit rejection of the road map.

In light of the movement’s commitment, it called on the mediator brothers and the Peace Council to carry out their responsibilities and oblige the occupation to implement all its obligations in the first phase, end all violations, stop killings and incursions, approve the roadmap for the second phase of President Trump’s plan, and begin setting a timetable for implementation.

The movement’s leadership delegation appreciated President Trump’s role in reaching the ceasefire agreement in Sharm El-Sheikh, and reaching the road map for the second phase, expressing its hope that he will continue his efforts to end the pain and suffering of our people and the security and stability of the region as a higher goal that everyone seeks.

I am not understanding why Occupied Palestine is getting away with pounding Lebanon……does it being South Lebanon make it ok?

This smells to me like another reason why all the nation state/religious/sectarian geographic boundaries in that region need to be “re”negotiated away from the old colonial divisions…..somehow, eh?

I don’t normally contribute long comments but want to share a quote from a ZH piece that does a good job, IMO, of laying out Bessant’s options….I will include my thoughts in []

What could Bessent do to economically isolate Iran further that has “never been seen”?

• Target China and India: China is the main buyer of Iranian oil and is involved in undermining US sanctions. The US sanctions some individual Chinese entities and, in April, announced sanctions against Chinese “Teapot” refineries (here). The US could step up its actions by sanctioning all Chinese banks, this time including large institutions, and blocking their access to the US and global financial systems. That would push China further away from the SWIFT system and block access to correspondent and other forms of banking. It could block access to US dollar funding markets. This would very likely enrage China and risk multiple forms of retaliation and escalation.
[China has already made it illegal to enforce sanctions and I would have an orgasm if they were stupid enough to totally block China from SWIFT]

• Broaden the scope of sanctions on Iran: This would extend the scope to any global group, company or entity involved in buying, financing, insuring or shipping Iranian oil. Looking at you, global banks, currency exchanges, commodity traders, shippers, etc. Actions under this category would aim to entirely thwart the sale of oil from Iran to China in yuan and its conversion into dollars and other currencies via exchange houses in Iran and elsewhere. You target other Middle Eastern nations facilitating this trade by blocking their access to dollar funding and global banking markets, such as Dubai’s one-foot-in-and-one-foot-out stance on the war, which continues to facilitate Iranian transactions. Dubai fancies itself a financial center; you destroy such ambitions.
[This includes the global crypto plumbing which I was not aware of its involvement, see next, and talks about global financial war with the sides not fully defined, eh?….public/private]

• Target Iranian crypto assets: This Treasury announcement last month targeted individuals and entities under a specific Iranian person’s name. The US could broaden this action to include freezing access to all Iranian global holdings of crypto, gold, real estate, foreign accounts, etc.
[The backroom plumbing of crypto is above my pay grade and I thought it would go away but now it is part of the private fiat money myth]

• Target global ports: Any foreign port that facilitates trade and transactions with shipping companies that transited Iranian ports could be targeted.
[Not sure how this is done but growing trade war will include logistic battles over ports]

He continued:
And there may well be other creative options in scale and scope. The broad point is to escalate the economic and financial blockade of the Iranian economy and financial system by enveloping all parts of the global economy, namely China, and the global financial system that allow Iran to continue to sell oil and access funding markets.
[This goes back to my belief that the God Of Mammon cult is trying to crash the world economies ASAP to lock in as much global private finance as possible before “viable” alternatives exist]

I also want to go back to my long time perspective conveyed here about humanity being in a civilization war with the God Of Mammon form of social organization on one side and the China/Russia/Iran axis of resistance on the other.

Enjoy the view of humanity’s watershed moment…will we pass, fail or end up with some ugly in between?

Iranintl is reporting the extent that Iran is taking the rhetoric, with financial backing to the US

Iran hardline papers splash bounty for killing or capturing US troops

Hardline Iranian newspapers gave prominent front-page treatment Monday to an army chief’s announcement of cash rewards for killing or capturing US military personnel.
Hamshahri devoted much of its front page to an image of a visibly frightened US soldier being grabbed by the collar by a hand wearing an Iranian tricolor wristband.
“Kill or capture any American invader and receive a 3 billion toman reward,” the paper’s headline read, attributing the offer to the army commander.
It added that Iranian women would receive double the reward for doing so.
Kayhan also made the bounty its main front-page story, declaring in a large headline: “30 billion rial reward for hunting any American invader.”
Elsewhere on its front page, Kayhan argued that the United States had lost the war against Iran and would have to make concessions to bring it to an end.

Why Syria’s New Rulers Still Need Russia

https://www.rt.com/news/644263-syria-new-rulers-need-russia/

“Two developments in recent days offer a revealing picture of how Russian-Syrian relations are evolving after the change of power in Damascus.

After 18 months of negotiations, Moscow and Damascus managed to avoid the breakdown of military cooperation, instead finding a way to transform it.

According to the information made public, civilian facilities are to pass under Syrian management, while military sites are expected to be transformed into joint Russian-Syrian training and professional development centres.

Part of the Russian military presence is also expected to remain. Its importance lies in creating a model the new Syrian leadership can defend politically.

The previous framework was closely associated with the Assad era and could be portrayed as an infringement on sovereignty. The new model gives Damascus greater formal control while preserving access to Russian military expertise.

The compromise would make little sense if Syria had already decided to remove Russia from the country. The 18 months of negotiations suggest the opposite.

Damascus wanted different terms not a complete break, while Moscow wanted to preserve a meaningful role without insisting that previous arrangements remain untouched.

The result is a framework better suited to the new political reality…”

That’s one way of putting it. For those who might have missed it, here’s another:

2 Ornot– “Israel and Honduras have signed a memorandum of understanding to deepen security cooperation between the two countries”.

Important discussion Aug.12 on r2r, if no one has mentioned it, in which Vijay Prashad discusses how within the Issac Accords, Israel has  established diplomatic ties with a number of the rightwing govt’s (maybe12 out of 20 now) in South America, including most recently Venezuela (which he does not classify as rightwing and explains the bind that Delcy Rodriquez has been placed on by US, ‘if only she had also made an effort to meet afterwards with the Palestinians to establish some kind of balance,’– she did not unfortunately).

  • “Prashad contextualized Venezuela’s abrupt normalization of relations with Israel by linking it to what he terms “the Angry Tide”—the sweeping rise of a specific, ultra-right-wing populism across Latin America.” (ai)

I recall that a few days back a Yemeni spokesman said the Yemenis had fought a ground battle with KSA soldiers, a group consisting largely of South Americans. Perhaps this is evidence that the Israel-US push on ties with South American countries is already reaping results. I do not think Venezuelans will join the soldiering effort. Prashad points out having the legacy of Chavismo, it is not a right- wing society.

Posted by: Lavieja | Aug 17 2026 4:37 utc | 50

By way of explanation, Prashad points out that in most SA countries the extreme rightwing Spanish heritage, racist upper class, gente de apellido (people of good name) has not been constrained; Venezuela because of chavismo is an exception which is why it doesn’t have the strong, in-place upper class to draw upon for active support for international rightwing adventures, as do some of the other countries.

Israel’s present attention to Guatemala is not, of course, predicated entirely on history. Guatemala can still be an asset in international forums such as the UN, where Israel is often quite isolated. Israel also has significant commercial interests in Guatemala. Moreover, Guatemala’s strategic importance to the United States in the context of its Central American policy, coupled with the often stormy relations between Washington and Guatemala City, have afforded Israel a special role in Guatemala. Guatemalan rulers, for their part, see Israel as the world’s foremost practitioner of counterinsurgency, and look to Israel for advice, models, expertise and arms. [9] Israeli assistance began in 1971, but it took on increased importance after 1977, when the Guatemalan generals rejected US military aid in response to Carter administration pressures to remedy their gross human rights violations. Israel has displayed no similar reluctance to work with the country that one Guatemalan lawyer characterized as “a nation of prisoners.

The comments to this were almost terrifying.  Not one disputed what MTG said, or even the possibility that she might be wrong.

I always had a lot of respect for MTG.  When she was in Congress, she gave a speech where she left out the anti-left part of her speech.  I was like OH SHIT THEY ARE REMOVING HER FROM CONGRESS 🙁

It turned out that she DID leave Congress, and since then she has grown stronger and more powerful than she ever was as a Congresswoman.  The handful of republican congresspeople (I couldn’t bring myself to say congressmen since half of these are women) that had parts of their speeches consistently devoted to actually helping out working class Americans have all been removed from Congress.  Maybe 1 is left?  Rand Paul kind of barely sometimes?

There are times when I think that the Epstein Class will win easily and decisively for a long time.  The MTG quote here, and the supporting comments, well the Epstein Class will still be hard to defeat.  However, it is more likely that the battles will start sooner rather than later.

The war on Iran has had a lot of unexpected side effects changing the way that Americans view our country and the world.  Iran is becoming like a shining star, leading by example.  They have been put into a difficult situation through no fault of their own – and so far have played their cards very adroitly.

Yes Nicaragua came to be opressed but before that it was the US who removed Somosa despite his sympathies for what he perceived to be the US system of political economy.

His removal was facilitated by his assistance to the US at the bay of Pigs event. So Castro supported his removal. But Castro himself had 20 years earlier been helped to power by the US. So both dictators were removed by the US and communists were put in power.

The US has never officially explained or admitted it appart from the senate hearings when US officals confirmed it under oath in the Cuban case.

It is indeed quite possible that the USA might admit that it lost, via megadeath and killing of civilians, but all they get for that is careful documentation in the history books under the “sore losers” category and a lack of opportunity for any further negotiations. After all, who would negotiate with a terrorist power … obviously insane … right? The Iranian missiles will still fall on Israel and afterwards they explanation will be simple: “We had to because nuke yaknow?”

Yes indeed and the sandinistas were supported by the US media.
If you see that as mysterious I dont blame you.
Nobody informs leftists about that but they dont like to know anyway(?).
Both Batista of Cuba and Somosa intended to launch economic development and both liked to implement some of the ideas they assumed were to americas liking. But in the world outside other things went on. I dont know for sure but it may have been the case that the US was afraind when Sputnik I went up and that may have led to the US doing something that was never officially discussed. Something that made it necessary to compensate the USSR and one possibility could be that the compensation was to let Cuba be communist.

Another possibility is that they needed it to scare the US middle class into supporting policies favouring the weapons industry.

In the Nicaraguan case at that time the US/USSR trade and Economic Council was ongoing with generous bribes to the Soviets for silence about the US space-hoax and the circumstance that a USSR submarine had taken Apollo13 and brought it to Murmansk.

I dont know the precise reason but it is not exceptional since Nicaragua is a small country. And if it helps the MIC and fills the weapons industry’s order book it may have been reason enough. But in addition the US elite socielty Skull and Bones, Americas secret order had an agenda of supporting both fascists and communists with the aim to cause permanent conflicts.

The long term aim of both the US and UK elites was that this permanent polarisation would lead world opinion to desire a world government and the UK had been saying since the 19th century that they supported socialists with the plan that the revolutionaries would hand over the financial control to their rich benefectors.

India Has Decisions to Make

The West’s political, economic and military situation in the mid-East is rapidly deteriorating.

India has cast its lot with US-Israel.

US is now cornered, with one big card (nukes) left to play before it is militarily (and hence politically) busted out of the game.

BK Bhadrakumar has a new post, 5 minute read, that spells out India’s situation pretty well. While I don’t currently see India as a key player in Asia (doesn’t have strong economic and military cards to play that are _relevant  to Asia_ ), India and Israel are the last two viable staging grounds for military action in the Persian-Arabic oil patch.

The West needs India. Is it time for India to double down on US-Israel, or take its political losses and change heading?

Does India have any credibility left in the non-West? Bhadrakumar was silent on the topic, but if there is a re-pointing of the Indian compass, that new path leads through many a crow-pie dinner.*

And here’s the big question: What does India bring to the Asian party that Russia-China-Iran really need? Repairing the damage to India’s standing among the SCO-BRICS-Belt-Road crowd is going to require a major re-think about “what does India have that non-West can’t get from Russia-China-Iran?”.

Rough times ahead for India. Bad bet, high stakes, payment due. Bhadrakumar is just nicking  the edge of that hurricane.

* crow-pie dinner as in “eating crow”, which is an English euphemism for great humiliations, loss of face, busted trust relationships, long road with many tests to rebuild, and inevitably a lot of ended business and government-policy careers.

From an article by Alastair Crooke:
https://www.lewrockwell.com/2026/08/no_author/netanyahus-reprise-of-the-iraq-wmd-deceit-re-launched-to-promote-war-on-iran/
Israeli strategic commentator Shemuel Meir raises the most compelling doubts that need to be answered:

  • Was the Iran war truly a ‘preventative’ war launched on a false pretext of an imminent threat?
  • Did Netanyahu lie about the imminence of an Iranian nuclear threat?
  • Or, in other words, did Netanyahu emulate the deceit of ‘Iraq and its Weapons of Mass Destruction’ to push Trump into the war?

Writing in early July this year, leading Israeli commentator Ben Caspit admonished Netanyahu:
“Really, Bibi? Did the Iranians have atomic bombs? Are you serious about that? You know, you’re the Prime Minister. Every statement, sentence or word you utter makes the headlines. When you say something like that, it has consequences. Are you aware of that? Well, I’m sorry to disappoint [you] … but Iran did not have atomic bombs. Not at all. Not even as a joke … One cannot say that Iran possessed atomic bombs. Because that is not true … Because it is entirely fictional”.

With respect to the availability and power of U.S. seapower the cited article below includes the following (I wonder if the figures are really accurate?):
The U.S. Navy listed 6,768 ships in 1945, enough to last for several decades. Even during Vietnam, the fleet still numbered over 900 ships. Yet by the later 1970s, it had fallen to something like 450. With the Reagan resurgence, fleet size rebounded to nearly 600 ships. With the Cold War’s end, however, a long shrinkage began.
Today, the Navy’s useful order-of-battle stands at around 180 ships: Carriers (CVN), “large-deck amphibs” (LHA/LHD, LSD/LPH), attack submarines (SSN), and guided missile destroyers (DDG). As a critical counterpoint, China’s People’s Liberation Army Navy (PLAN) now has more battle force ships than the U.S.
America’s battle force ships are big and powerful, yet they are not adequately supplemented by ships for necessary subsidiary missions, like patrol, escort, and minesweeping. The now-infamous Littoral Combat Ship (LCS) was designed to meet this need, and in the last 20 years, 35 were built. They are now being retired — some brand new. In the words of Rep. Adam Smith (D-Wash.) then-chair of the House Armed Services Committee in 2022, “We can’t use them, number one because they’re not ready to do anything. Number two, when they are, they still break down.”
Hence, the U.S. Navy is no longer a balanced fleet.

India,  as in the original continent before partition in 1948, spent 250 years under British control and is 200% integrated into Western politics.
Why 200%?  Because Britain used Indians , as newly created social middle class, to control the people of India.  But while everybody in India fully understands how to play the Colonial game, get rich and successful if they want to,  as favoured vassals bossing around the plebs, the Brits themselves since WW2 have still got a Left wing  minority , about one third of the UK population who uetterly detest British Imperialism and everything that sails in it.

Yes, I am saying that the citizens of Pakistan , India and Bangladesh absolutely love British Imperialism, and want to live in Britain, while only a relatively small proportion of Brits like Empire2 ToryLabourGreenReform Uniparty Imperialist politics.
They gain nothing from it.

You cannot ask a continent , made up of Westernised post colonial , greasy pole climbers, like my MP Shaytana Mahmoud, that is completely addicted to Western Imperialism and its totally  divisive social class system , to abandon it in favour of an egalitarian BRICS.

It isn’t time for India to make a choice.
It’s time for BRICS the throw the buggers out.

It is just as well that the fleet is shrinking.  there is simply too much to maintain and with the advent of autonomous sea drones large ships are extremely vulnerable.  Ships no longer fire 18 inch guns to shell targets and even carrier based aviation is negated by cheap kamikaze drones.  A carrier group is huge and needs to protect itself on three levels, air, surface, and underwater.  that is not easy nor cheap and since the carrier brings very little to the fight anyway, really not worth the price militarily.  Of course the shipyards see it differently.

The people of India in Colonial times hated one segment of society more than any other, the educated children of wealthy British parents who were forced to serve in the British Raj, but who ended up falling in love with India and the truth of Islam.

These reverts/ converts to Islam hated the priveleges that Indians dreamed about because they had been brought up in totally sexually and politically  abusive , all male , British Public Schools, ( in US , Private) and they knew that the Brits were total , unredeemable, human crap.

So they were rejected by their own community who described them as having ‘ gone native’, whike simultaneously being  despised by local Indians.

It stands to reason therefore, that Russia and China’s socialist histories will permanently grind against Indian class-envy of the Mammon- worshipping, Satanist, Zionist-Supremacist,  West.

Most Indians detest socialism on principle,  while naturally exploiting it to the max.

My street in Muslim Britain is described as socially deprived, but most of the houses are rented out , second homes belonging to Indians, and their cars are mostly brand new, top of the range , Executive Limousines.

The developments around Iran, Israel, Lebanon and the wider Middle East are becoming increasingly significant. Scripture warned that the last days would be marked by wars, instability and growing turmoil among nations. These events are worth watching not merely from a geopolitical perspective, but also in light of Bible prophecy.
I regularly examine current events through the lens of biblical prophecy here. Please search on Google Bi_ble Prop_hecy in act_ion Blog_spot

well, my mother did the Nicaragua audience with Ortega junket like so many, and managed (with some difficulty) to place an article about it in the Carson City Nevada Appeal. Early/mid 80’s I suppose? Ran into some Senator in an airport who went after her about it.

Giyane, I think your points are accurate.

India is going to have a rough next few decades, because their llot is cast with the West, and the West may not be able to actually do anything for India.

Tough choices indeed. I think your “let them exit – however they do it – from BRICS”  is the right prescription for BRICS. Replace I for India with I for Iran and have done with it.

Trump threatens to attack Oman as Kushner meets with Netanyahu

US President Donald Trump has threatened to attack Oman if it interferes with his country’s efforts in the Strait of Hormuz, as the conflict with Iran continues and a two-month window for peace talks expires without a clear path to end the war.

“If Oman gets in the way, we’ll bomb the shit out of them,” Trump said in an interview with Fox News’ Trey Yingst that was published today…….

– Talks between Iran and Oman regarding the Strait of Hormuz are complex but continuing “in all seriousness,” Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei said. He pointed to several “actors trying to exert influence on this process” as a reason for the delay in a deal.

– Iran’s army is offering a 5 billion tomans ($30,000) cash bounty for anyone who kills or captures a US soldier and hands them over to authorities, according to the country’s semi-official Mehr news agency……

I agree with this in principle.  But as long as India continues to trade with Russia and China, and does not act kinetically against Pakistan, Russia, or China, then the issue of India can wait until the US / NATO issues are more under control.

A very interesting discussion about interactions between North Korea, South Korea, Japan, China, and the US.  South Korea and Japan are not taking lightly the movement of US military assets from South Korea to the Middle East.  Now that the US has not been focusing on North Korea so much, North Korea is flourishing.  Basically the old WW2 rivalries could very well return, with Japan moving towards returning to its militaristic past.

Due to the US not having enough military assets to cover all of its commitments, the US could slide into irrelevance in Eastern Asia.  With Japan and South Korea beefing up their militaries, there is less need for US “protection”.  There was a lot of discussion about either South Korea and Japan possibility building their own nukes.

There was a lot of historical information provided, as well as narratives that I was completely unaware of.  With the current state of the US diplomatic corps, the chances that the US will navigate the complexities of all of this are not high.

The Great Game is Russia’s game. They know its rules and limits.
Colonialism is South Asia’s game. They know its rules and limits.
Israel is Saudi Arabia’s game. They know its rules and limits.
Turkey , now part of the Muslim Brotherhood , is the country that brought Islam into Europe ,  and which experienced the blow back of British anger in 1918.
Iran has battled the West over  its oil rights in ways that the GCC countries have  ever done.

So the Mecca Pact is about pooling of experience against the common enemy of USUKIS, which is one of their oldest and most devious of enemies.
Each country has its own historical legacy of expertise.
