War On Iran: – Trump Requested Briefing For War Renewal

The White House is eager to return to outright war on Iran.

According to the Wall Street Journal U.S. President Donald Trump requested new plans to attack Iran but was briefed (archived) that any attempt to do such was too much of a risk:

President Trump has weighed a return to all-out war with Iran, holding multiple conversations in recent days with Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Dan Caine on more strikes, but has decided to stick with diplomatic talks for now, according to U.S. officials familiar with the discussion.

The conversations have centered on whether the U.S. should abandon negotiations and resume full-scale attacks on Iran, the officials said, a move some of them describe as “finishing the job.”

[T]he latest discussions suggest [Trump] is looking for ways to break the deadlock with Tehran and hasn’t yet ruled out a return to fighting.

All reasonable military options the U.S. got are still no better than they were when the U.S. filed for a ceasefire.

Iran’s deterrence, which comes in two forms, is still sufficient. Its ballistic missiles and drones are able to hit any target in the Middle East. Its ability to blockade the Strait of Hormuz make any campaign against Iran a very risky endeavor. The consequences of a new blockade could easily ruin the global economy.

As Trump acknowledged weeks ago:

“If we go and bomb, which we can do very easily if we want, and we spend another two or three weeks bombing, they’ll have nothing left whatsoever, but you won’t have the strait opened for months.

At the same time Iran’s geography and defense capabilities make any attempt to invade or occupy even parts of it a suicide endeavor.

That said – Trump’s current reluctance to renew an attack on Iran is unlikely to hold forever. Even with a low chance of winning he well get enticed to again throw the dice.

“All reasonable military options the U.S. got are still no better than they were when the U.S. filed for a ceasefire.”But the alternatives get ever less attractive. The USA needs to be seen as the Global bully and has to be smashing someone.  Frankly non-nuclear Iran is ideal.Euro-nato failed at G7 to persuade Trump to restart against Russia.A deep deep issue is weapons.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2owXYuVwC0kTed Postol discusses Patriots – with a claimed shoot down rate of 90% and an actual rate of 2-3%So US needs to fight someone and somewhere that the true miserable state of US weapons can remain hidden.  Not Ukraine anyway where Russia spitefully takes out whole Patriot systems!End of Hegemony happened some years before most people were ready for it.

Unless trump means nuking, the “they” is probably the pentagon, another 2 or 3 weeks would drain tomahawks and AD to less than a third of stocks and a decade to cover (assuming china and RF sell them the materials)

All the wars the west has waged in recent history were expeditionary wars. Not in defense of their sovereign borders, a colonial ideology of plunder and profit. That’s the one way direction, of conducting business and relations with other nations (foreign policy). This is immutability ingrained  in the western psyche . Nothing is going to change that. The current conflicts will escalate. How will they be resolved with a bang or a whimper ? I don’t know, I can’t say, it’s not encouraging.

The subtext of the linked article holds the key to my mind:

The president has told aides that he is fine if negotiations with Tehran blow past an Aug. 18 deadline for a nuclear deal, officials say.

Trump is fixated on restarting the war to “finish the job” as he put it, but it has to be after the midterms. In the meantime he wants to [he thinks] avoid attrition of the US assets, so the sole purpose of the MoU is to keep Iran off his back while he sits out the midterms. In the meantime, as the article clearly spells out, Trump will periodically provoke Iran in the profound delusion that doing so will make Iran more willing to compromise. He thinks he can ramp up production of Patriot missiles – a few % maybe – maybe he can produce a couple of dozen Patriots, (enough to down a couple of Iranian missiles at best at 10% effectiveness).

He thinks he is getting crude coming through the strait needed to produce diesel and jet fuel for the US. How he fantasises that he can prevent the collapse of the western economy and the petrodollar beats me entirely. I have no answers for that. He aims for unconditional surrender, and DEFINITELY he will get unconditional surrender [but, like Croesus, not quite in the way he thinks!]

Meanwhile Iran knows the US has no serious intention to abide by the MoU. They know the US will be back to try again to destroy Iran. Aim of the MoU for Iran is to rake the money in hand over fist to wipe out economic weakness [economic sustainability is essential in a war of attrition] by selling massive massive amounts of Iranian oil to China at a premium price [while US and Europe are starved of Gulf oil]; buy more weapons from Russia and China; prepare another 100000 or so ballistic missiles and drones; further refine the missile cities; improve air defences against US and Israeli aircraft; repair as much functional damage from Round 2 as quickly as possible; further undermine the foundations of the western economy in preparation for Round 3; turbocharge Chinese reserves of crude to keep their support onside; and fine tune their preparations to “finish off the job”.

So who will “finish off the job” and who will be humiliated? Ask the Oracle of Delphi.

The focus seems to have shifted to Lebanon and MOU Point #1 as discussed during Nima’s chat with Laith Marouf. Meanwhile, there’s a lot of whispering about the progress being made toward a new security arrangement for the Gulf region. Iran and Oman are finalizing their agreement on transit control over Hormuz. As I noted yesterday, the region is in a state of war which allows littoral states to control the waterway as they deem fit–and the region will remain in a state of war until a peace treaty is signed, ratified and then blessed as a UNSC Resolution, a process that could take years given the Korean example. And it’s that reality US Imperialists are finding impossible to swallow–TINA bites them bigtime! The Lebanon gambit merits understanding. While behind the scenes a tug-of-war is ongoing between China and the Empire for the allegiance of the latter’s regional compradors that will affect its African plans. That latter point is rarely raised here but is another key component over Red Sea control.

Sure. Iran would welcome the opportunity to complete the destruction of U.S. military facilities in the region.

Posted by: Helen Weals | Jul 1 2026 18:12 utc | 20

VP Vance has appeared on US media confirming the MOU is simply a stop-gap to stabilize oil markets  and allow for re-supply transport into the region.  i.e. the current situation is little more than a pause before the next round of fighting.

Macron in France is very eager to commit forces – in Hormuz Strait or in Lebanon. NATO, or key members of NATO, may yet get directly involved (boots on ground)

This is caused by certificate authorities (DigiCert, GlobalSign, Let’s Encrypt, etc) revoking the security certificates for a domain. This is supposed to only be done for security reasons when a certificate has been compromised (generally the private key being exposed), and the owners of the domain should be able to just get a new certificate, but obviously in cases like RT and Press TV the revocation is malicious and intended to silence the site.

There is a hidden “feature” in chromium-based browsers that seems to still work. When you get the certificate warning page, click in the page to make sure the browser has the focus and type exactly “thisisunsafe” without the double quotes. You will not see anything being typed and should not need to press enter. This should bypass the warning for the current session and the page should load.

Isn’t it nice how they are looking out for your “safety” like this? So much bullshit in the West these days done in the name of “safety”.

Families displaced as Israel flattens southern Lebanon villages  By Justin Salhani

Beirut – Israel has completely razed the area of Naqoura, one of many towns and villages in southern Lebanon that the Israeli military has made completely uninhabitable.

For thousands who are from towns or villages now razed to the ground, the future is unclear. The pain of having lost their homes is devastating, but experts expect an even greater psychological burden should these people eventually return to their villages.

“When a village is flattened, and even the landmarks around it are gone, people lose more than their homes. They lose the markers that told them where they belonged, and that’s part of why we’re seeing such deep distress, including in people who have never struggled with their mental health before,” Basma Alloush of the International Rescue Committee told Al Jazeera…….

Trump needs Hegseth to start doing PT with the bomb makers!

Finishing the job!  Linebacker II finished the job in 1972 Vietnam.

10 days 20000 (a lot more than today’s 30000 sorties) tons of bombs.

US 40 days in 2026 was less weight over 40 times the target catalog than Linebacker II and all we got was a begged ceasefire to save Tel Aviv and Haifa.

Only deceivers and traitors will advise Trump he can “finish the job” short of years of mobilization, huge newly organized military ground formations and fleets of logistics ships to build.

Gharibabadi: US violating MoU in Lebanon, no talks with US in Doha
Iran’s Kazem Gharibabadi denies that any direct Iran-US meeting took place in Doha and announces a monitoring group communication channel to report further violations

Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister and head of the country’s technical negotiating delegation, Kazem Gharibabadi, denied on Wednesday that any meeting had taken place in Doha between delegations from Iran and the United States, dismissing reports of direct contact between the two sides.

Gharibabadi said the Iranian delegation’s engagements in the Qatari capital were limited entirely to joint sessions with the Qatari and Pakistani delegations, held to follow up on the implementation of the memorandum of understanding reached between Tehran and Washington.

The denial follows a report citing a diplomat familiar with the talks who told AFP that US and Iranian officials were holding indirect technical talks in Doha through Qatari and Pakistani mediators, with US envoys Jared Kushner and Steve Witkoff said not to be taking part……

Come to think of it, it is fortunate that the Cuban Missile Crisis took place at a time before the internet existed.

Otherwise, each side would have laid out its position for its domestic audience, accessible to all, and the US would not have been able to save face.
Mutually assured destruction could well have played out in the 1960s.

By concealing the true cause of the crisis, American missiles in Turkey and elsewhere, from the public, and by hiding the fact that they had agreed to withdraw them, the Kennedy administration was able to save face and come out looking good.

Today, one might assume Trump would like to make concessions regarding Iran while being able to lie to his domestic audience without being contradicted by opposing reports.

But there are upsides, too. Thanks to all the online chatter, people have actually been persuaded that Trump could invade Iran with just 5,000 troops.

Congratulations to those who pulled off that feat on a platform as well-informed as MoA. Some trolls are really good at their tuff.

In 1979, Iran humiliated the United States inside its own embassy in Tehran. The world’s superpower was held hostage for 444 days, unable to free its own diplomats and forced to watch its authority collapse on television. That memory never disappeared from Washington’s political psyche. Today, any American president who considers returning to Iran what legally belongs to it — assets, rights, or concessions under an agreement — is immediately trapped by the ghost of 1979: the fear of appearing to reward the very state that once made America look powerless and humiliated.

Speaking of blowing more things up, what about Iran’s military options? What are they going to do if they are attacked, AGAIN? How many US military bases will be left in Jordan, the UAE, Qatar, Bahrain etc etc?

—————–Depends. If we’re still doing tit-for-tat, I imagine Bahrain and Kuwait will see a few drones or missiles, after being properly alerted, of course. If we see the same force package put together in February, I imagine Iran does the same…Qatar loses the ability to produce natural gas for a decade and we see just how effective the remaining US missile batteries in the region perform when Iran sends ALL THE FUCKING DRONES and first wipes all the radars then fully depletes all Patriot and THAAD stocks. My worse fear is boots on the ground…how much room do we have left at Arlington? We’ll need it.

Declassified Australia

Australia’s Defence Minister Richard Marles has been forced by the Federal Court to provide access to lists of documents related to Australian arms exports to Israel.

They detail the export of F-35 components, metals from Bisalloy Steel, and various other exports affected by Defence decisions not to revoke export permissions to genocidal Israel.

This is a consequence of a two-year legal fight brought by Al-Haq, human rights group, the Palestinian Centre for Human Rights, and Al Mezan Center for Human Rights.

These three groups are being represented by the Australian Centre for International Justice, and barristers from the Victorian Bar and the NSW Bar.

yeah, sure
Iranian leadership already exposed themselves as weak and stupid,  USA/Israel are successfully besieging Lebanon and Trump routinely launches attacks on Iran on the weekends followed up with Iran double-speaking and doing weak missile strikes.    It seems like the Iranians are begging for negotiations over and over again despite pretending not to in public. How long before the Iranian public get fed up and lynch their leaders?

What if Israel Used Atomic Weapons Against Iran Tomorrow Night?
.
Few thoughts:

First, I recommend Mr. Mizrahi attain a copy of Annie Jacobson’s book ‘In Nuclear war, a scenario.’ Her conclusion: world ending event in mere minutes.

Second, Are we to believe that Iran could not finish the entity any time it wanted, attacking vital infrastructure, with the current technology that it [Iran] possesses?

Third: Are we to believe that nuke over Tehran, also decapitates the 31 dispersed Mosaic that has pre-determined orders for any scenario?

How can I put this bold and shout it from the roof-tops?

A nuke over Tehran, ENDS HUMANITY.

Stop dreaming of rapture.

Babies were ‘special targets’ of Israeli killings – UN probe panel chief
A clear pattern of attacks targeting children is evident, Justice S. Muralidhar told RT India

The attacks by Israel on Gaza show a targeted annihilation of children that should be punished, the head of a UN panel that probed the excesses told RT India.

The violence unleashed by Israeli forces was “unjustified and disproportionate… in considerable terms,” Justice S. Muralidhar, the chair of the UN Independent International Commission of Inquiry on the occupied Palestinian territory, said in an exclusive interview.

“The excuse that Hamas could be using hospitals and schools as bases to carry out its attacks will not justify completely demolishing 97% of all of Gaza’s schools,” he said…..

…..Citing a pattern of targeted attacks on children, he said: “When you shoot a 10-day-old baby breastfeeding on his mother… through his head, you can by no means label such a baby as an enemy of the State of Israel and justify these kinds of attacks.”

Israeli quadcopters with thermal imaging cameras can clearly distinguish a child from an adult, he said.

That children were specifically targeted is clear from the number of “instances of babies with gunshot wounds to their head and neck to cause maximum damage.” He added that babies were aimed at with “tiny cube-shaped pellets” that “spread like a cluster of ammunition and destroy all the internal organs.”

“So it became very clear… that babies were special targets,” Muralidhar, who once served as chief justice at the high court in the eastern state of Odisha, said.

He noted that Israeli soldiers recounted on TV how they targeted children with quadcopters, claiming that “their commanders complimented them for doing that.”

Muralidhar said the pattern was clearly revealed “by a collection of all the forms of evidence,” including forensic and medical……….

From Xinhuanet

TEHRAN, July 1 (Xinhua) — Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Legal and International Affairs Kazem Gharibabadi on Wednesday announced the conclusion of talks in Qatar on the implementation of a peace memorandum of understanding (MoU) between Iran and the United States.
Leading a delegation from the Foreign Ministry, Central Bank, and Agriculture Ministry, Gharibabadi said that the Iranian team held talks with Qatar’s Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani in the morning and then attended two meetings with Qatari and Pakistani delegations, according to the official news agency IRNA.
“The first meeting of the supervision group for the MoU’s implementation was also held with the participation of senior negotiators from the three countries,” he said.
During the discussions, the Iranian delegation pointed out and discussed U.S. violations of its obligations under the MoU’s Paragraph 1, which pertains to the war’s end in Lebanon, news of U.S. actions regarding the reinforcement of its military equipment and forces in the West Asia region, and “threatening and interventionist” remarks by U.S. officials, according to IRNA.
The Iranian delegation highlighted that the parties’ obligations under the MoU are an integrated set and are not seen in isolation, adding that it was decided that a monitoring group’s emergency communication channel would be established by Thursday and violations of the MoU would be reported, discussed, and decided upon in an official and documented manner, according to Gharibabadi.
He noted that during the meetings with Qatari officials, including central bank representatives, certain issues related to the use of part of Iran’s frozen assets worth 6 billion U.S. dollars were discussed, and it was decided that, based on Iran’s needs, the necessary goods would be purchased and given to the country.
Gharibabadi stressed that no direct meeting was held between the Iranian and U.S. delegations in Doha.
According to IRNA, concurrent with the Iranian team’s meetings in Doha, a U.S. delegation, headed by U.S. President Donald Trump’s special envoy Steve Witkoff and his son-in-law Jared Kushner, was also in Qatar and held meetings with Qatari officials.
On June 18, Iran and the United States signed the MoU on ending the war in the region on all fronts, including Lebanon.
On June 22, technical negotiations between Iran and the United States began in Switzerland following high-level consultations between Iranian and U.S. delegations the previous day with the mediation of Pakistan and Qatar.

New  Bipartisan Bill Seeks to Outlaw Criticism of Israel

(Excerpt)……The new (proposed) law presents four major demands: the appointment of a specialized Anti-Semitism commissar to manage the Department of Education’s campaign combating pro-Palestinian activism on college campuses, a $1 billion dollar cash injection to “secure” Zionist non-profits and Jewish houses of worship, mandatory state monitoring of online social media platforms in order to force them to censor “anti-Semitic” political speech on their platforms, and officially reorienting the mission of the FBI, Department of Homeland Security, and National Counterintelligence and Security Center as instruments for targeting critics of Jews and Israel as foreign enemy actors and domestic terrorists.…..

“All the wars the west has waged in recent history were expeditionary wars. I don’t know, I can’t say, it’s not encouraging.”

I have to agree with your assessment. Even contemplating the act of setting a nuclear device off anywhere as a military act is every bit as heinous, as monstrous, more so possibly because you truly are threatening life on earth,  as any genocide that’s been committed so far. That some with power may even consider it is beyond frightening. What the…?!?!?!!

Iran has NOT won anything yet.  Their goal is peace and security.  They are no nearer to that than they were a year ago.

America had one big advantage.  It can count on the full support of its allies(vassals).  In fact, it can count on its allies behaving as violently or more violently.  Iran cannot count on its two main allies ever fighting.  That’s a serious handicap.

Posted by: EoinW | Jul 2 2026 10:25 utc | 68

Agree with a few articles I’ve been reading, the MOA with Iran is simply to keep it distracted from Lebanon. The US bloviates and promises much, the bloviating will continue but the promises will never be delivered. Israel is still attacking Lebanon, the US has now organized its puppet in Iraq to disband any Shiite groups there, the ones that said they’d attack Syria if its Zionist head chopper attacks Hezbollah. The Iranians are being white anted, the promises of peace and money perhaps is distracting them from the obvious, they are still the main course after other matters are settled first.

I’m just wondering how many people are being lost over there, like in Russia and Ukraine, coupled with what both their fertility/replacement-rates are and who’s to take care of the old, injured and sick and/or pay their taxes for programs that do that?

“Global fertility trends show a steady decline, with the total fertility rate (TFR) dropping from more than 4.8 births per female in 1950 to approximately 2.2 in 2021, projected to fall further to 1.8 by 2050 and 1.6 by 2100. Only six countries (Samoa, Somalia, Tonga, Niger, Chad, and Tajikistan) are projected to maintain above-replacement fertility levels by 2100, while the rest of the world converges on low-fertility realities.”

The Venezuelan people (read wage slaves) do not control their country.  It’s currently controlled by a military regime that claims to be Socialist but has essentially allowed the premiere Zio Imperialist power to violently take over the country.  Zio Imperialism now controls Venezuela, not the the Venezuelan people.  They are the victims of fake socialism and now open Zio Imperialism.

Just another stage of a process ongoing for at least the last 50 years.  Fact: Zios control the US government, finance , Hollywood and Tech. From there anything is possible.  It’s a simple question of power, not merely one item of legislation or another.

So, the other day a US military commander said the US was going to put “boots on the ground” in Lebanon. “We will be there calling ‘balls and strikes.'” He was referring to the phony, illegal US/Israeli/Vichy-Lebanese agreement that Hezbollah be disarmed. This was my fear going back months.  Just wait for US soldiers, deliberately put in harm’s way, to start getting killed (Israel is surely ready to stage a few “terrorist bombings” and then blame Hezbollah).
