US Plunders Venezuela as Nation Suffers Aftermath of Earthquake (note: NPR is US gov-funded media)

The US pledged a miniscule $150 million in aid, then doubled it to $300 million;

Estimated damage is up to $7 billion; The US has stolen over $8 billion in oil since capturing Venezuela in early 2026;

As long as this is allowed to pass as “normal,” it will continue;

Now it will almost certainly be Andy Burnham as UK Prime Minister instead of Keir Starmer …… and some people have somehow convinced themselves that Burnham is not as bad. To be fair, he is a much better communicator than Starmer — but then so is Liz truss, or most inanimate objects. When it comes to policy and agenda (home or abroad) Burnham is firmly amongst the worst…..

In advance of becoming Prime Minister, Burnham has appointed former cabinet minister James Purnell as his Chief of Staff. Which tells a lot……

As a cabinet minister in the Blair/Brown government, Purnell — like Burnham, one of Mandelson’s gang — was notable for his department’s administrative cruelty to disabled people, and for a campaign trying to make the British public inform against each other to the authorities.

Purnell eventually ceased to be an MP having been caught tax-evading while fiddling his own very large housing expenses. He then got slithered into a top policy making role at the BBC.

Peter Mandelson of the Epstein Class very clearly has nothing to fear, with his own puppets in government. And, despite lies and semantically misleading statements to the contrary by Burnham and his team, it will be a hard-line neoliberal regime.

The following report from The Canary gives some indication of what to expect :
*=========*
Andy Burnham was funded by director of Gaza genocide-linked arms firmby Jody McIntyre30 June 2026https://www.thecanary.co/uk/analysis/2026/06/30/burnham-funded-by-genocide-linked-arms-firm/

Any illusions of Labour Party “change” under Andy Burnham were dispelled last week when he appointed lobbyist, Blairite minister, ex-Labour Friends of Israel chair, and Peter Mandelson’s “boy” James Purnell as his chief of staff.

The line from Team Burnham is that Purnell has cut all ties with Flint Global, the lobbying firm he led and held shares in until last week. But it seems that the firm has a history when it comes to conflicts of interest.

Flint Global
Flint Global’s current Defence Advisory Practice lead, James Clark, was previously outed as being a co-founder of the All Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) on Defence Technology.
The APPG was forced to shut down when it was revealed that its secretariat had been funded by RUK Advanced Systems Limited, a subsidiary of Israeli state-owned weapons manufacturer Rafael. Before joining Flint, Clark was a special advisor to Conservative Defence Minister Grant Shapps, providing:
expert advice [on] various crisis events including … Gaza.
According to parliamentary rules, APPGs are not allowed to be funded by foreign governments. But unbelievably, the British subsidiary of Rafael, Pearson Engineering, owns an arms factory in Newcastle and is led by John Hutton, a sitting Labour Party peer.
In April 2024, the Israeli military reportedly used a Rafael spike missile to obliterate seven aid workers working for World Central Kitchen, including three British citizens.

MBDA
Burnham’s appointment of Purnell may have set off alarm bells, but the Prime Minister-in-waiting has his own links to the arms industry. As the Canary previously reported, one of the financers of his 2015 Labour leadership bid was Howard Borrington, who was then the Director of UK Government Affairs at arms firm MBDA.
According to a 2025 investigation, MBDA sold:
key components for bombs that have been shipped in their thousands to Israel.

The MBDA “wings” were designed to unfold mid-air and guide GBU-39 bombs to their target. Those targets included schools, tents, and family homes. In the Fahmi al-Jarjawi School attack of May 2025, the Israeli military dropped GBU-39 bombs fitted with MBDA Inc. folding wings. 18 children were killed. One of the survivors of that attack was five-year-old Hanin al-Wadie. As she stumbled out through the fire that engulfed the school on May 26th 2025, Hanin suffered second- and third-degree burns. GBU-39 fragments and MBDA Inc. “wings” were found at the site.

BAE Systems
Before his time at MBDA, Borrington worked at BAE Systems. BAE has long supplied components and systems to the Israeli military, including for F-35 jets, with weapons often “gifted” through the U.S. government’s Foreign Military Financing program.
In the past, BAE Systems has collaborated with the Israeli state-owned arms firm Rafael to upgrade their MK-38 Typhoon gun system. The Typhoon is a remote-controlled naval weapon used to enforce the illegal siege of Gaza by firing on Palestinian fishermen.
In 2021, BAE Systems sold their Jerusalem-based subsidiary, Rokar, to another Israeli arms dealer: Elbit Systems. Rokar routinely arms the Israeli military. BAE also has a long history of providing Head Up Display systems for target selection in Israeli F-16 fighter jets.

Labour Friends of Israel
When Andy Burnham served as a Labour government minister, his most senior special adviser was Jennifer Gerber, an ex-chair and current director of Labour Friends of Israel. Until today, LFI refuses to reveal its donors.
Campaign Funding
We will have to wait to find out who has funded Burnham’s present campaigning, but we do know that his last Labour leadership bid in 2015 received over £130,000 in private donations, including from Borrington. Another of his donors was David Garrard, a former director of Labour Friends of Israel who passed away last year.
It is hard not to conclude that Burnham’s links to LFI and the arms industry may have impacted his decision this month to refuse to recognise the genocide in Gaza.

Keir Starmer
On June 11th, and in one of his last attempts to reassert control over his cabinet, Keir Starmer promoted Dan Jarvis, a Burnham supporter and fellow LFI veteran, to Defence Minister. But now, Starmer’s disastrous premiership is drawing to a pathetic close.
His “island of strangers” rhetoric and support for the Gaza genocide has led us to a showdown between Nigel Farage and Andy Burnham. Both are selling the public a dream, but both have donors they would rather voters did not ask about.
*=========*

Enough there to indicate that things can only get worse. Starmer had pretty much completed his NATO/Israel assigned tasks. Now there will be the more PR-competent Burnham — and the agenda of the Political Establishment, with its multi-label party franchises, will continue to be imposed regardless of what the public actually wants.

In 1966, the Roman Catholic Church prohibited 4,000 books. Maybe that was bad, but at least there was a list.On July 2, 2026, the Court of Justice of the European Union ruled a private individual who posts content of prohibited Russian web sites is a network operator, and can be sued as a network operator. So I’d like to ask: is there a EU list of prohibited websites?  How many websites are we talking about?

Good comparison.  I’ve always felt the Democratic Party in the US has also become increasingly like the old Catholic Church.

Richard Wolff and Michael Hudson expand my own thought from a previous thread in truly imaginatively encouraging ways that ought to be the theme, or one of the themes of this open forum leading up to the weekend  as an enormously important funeral concludes this historical epoch we are seeing draw to an end.

Please have in mind what they are saying here.  It will make for a meaning-full thread.

@6 Ahenobarbus

I remember taking flack from debisdead for stating the obvious truth that liberalism/modern humanism is an outcrop of the Universality of Roman Catholicism sans the sacred and ritual.

That is why I firmly believe that Catholcism is the future of America. The WASP wing of the elite typified by the burgeoning political movement of JD Vance (a fake though ostensibly Catholic political figure) and Tucker Carlson wants to use the Jews as a scapegoat for the coming reckoning and this will allow the WASP elite to maintain political control by steering popular ire.

The unhinged Liberal experiment led by coastal Jewish elite who seek multiculturalism and control of finance and the money printer will fail as the dollar becomes more and more a liability.

The only option then for America to retain its federal system without balkanizing or without allowing the WASP elite to escape while blaming the Jews (enticing though it may be for one who understands pernicious Jewry (note: Jewish elite also have set themselves up to sacrifice their own when the time comes and to go underground for a spell)) is to go back to a form of organization which simultaneously values the sacred yet respects all human life as valuable and worthy of forgiveness. Including Jews.

If it was to allow real time support it seems to be working great.

Addendum and source material for prior post re: Vance and Tucker.

E. Michael Jones, a Catholic Scholar on the effects of world Jewry in the west, did a podcast covering this thought and I think, as usual, he does a remarkable job.

Fuentes, to an equal extent, has formulated this thesis enough with sources and grounded inference to be worthy of mention as well.

Well after abstaining from all things not woke goodness…. Crank an old diesel and it will not start. Give it a snort of either or petrol and away it goes. Doomed to live.

A mate pays my internet because from time to time he wants to pick what is left of my brain. An aunt wanted to buy an opal so I sent her a number to choose from. She wants to buy them all, several for her, the others for her daughters.
My sister liked one I had dug up so sent it to her along with some others. She is woke as a trucky on beans and was surprised that I had remembered what she liked. Bloody odd world, but she is my sister.

To get a pension I need a medical diagnosis. There is no such thing as a specialist in auto immune disease. It affects the collagen. Skin, digestive tract, connective tissue. The so called doctors I need a ticket from specialise in American big pharma dna change injections. Fuck em all.

A mate from my early years would go chockerblock up anything remotely resembling a female He graduated from that to a security guard to an obese tax collector.
My mates mothers funeral, like something straight out of the godfather. At 90 kg he is the runt of the family and as honest as the day is long. Wot a life. I sat there waiting for him like a dickhead in the desert and he has stood by me.

Finding beauty in the desert. There is nothing like it. juliania. I will have to find something for you that makes a good woman sparkle. And for the one that kept in touch, not sure what to send at the moment.
Anyway, enogh of that drap for the moment. On the world picture, the persians backed by the chinks and ruskies have forced the empire of evil goodness into a stalemate. Anything goes from this point onwards.

In Europe and Britain, the indigenous are now in a similar position to the abo’s of Australia. Wot a shit show. The inglorious ending of the holy roman empire of Kissinger’s Westphalia.Macron homosexual Olympics – jeez. A western world divorced from any sense of reality.

The thing to remember is that after the structural changes Starmer made to Labour party democracy, Burnham would never even get the chance to stand for leader had he represented anything other than the status quo.

Given that Burnham looks likely to win unopposed, meaning that LP members wont even get a say in the process, it looks more like a coup than anything else. You have to wonder who’s behind it.

thanks.. i listened to the first 15 minutes.. what wolfe is saying resonates with me, except the idea that china/russia will take over responsibility for the middle east is a very long ways away, even if it were to happen… in this regard wolfe is very idealistic… but he is very right to point to the bombing of boats off venezuala or the extra judicial murders of israel, on display regularly are a sign of the impossibility of negotiating with either usa or israel… and that iran is clearly in the right – not that this matters to the 2 rogue nations..

Thanks for that informative post Cynic, depressing but not surprising,
Red Star, in answer to your last question, which is a good one…… has Andy Burham been set up to deliberatly fail to farage in the next election.

That would explain alot, Burham seems less of a warmonger than farage, plus farage is in trumps pocket.

I’m sure you’l both agree , these things are decided at a higher level than mere polatiticans. MI5 ,  MI6 and Mossad. Trump and netinyhoo.

The UK’s descent to overt authoritarianism continues.
Craig Murray:

“Not only is the state doubling down on prosecution of pro-Palestine activists, a new National Security State Threats Bill is being fast tracked through parliament to extend the attack on free speech. Under this bill receiving a benefit including “information” from a state entity designated as “hostile” by the Home Secretary will be a crime bringing up to 14 years in prison…

Please note there is specifically no public interest defence, no journalism defence and it is to be illegal to receive true information. It is not about the spread of disinformation, it is about the spread of information contrary to the British state narrative. Receiving information from a designated enemy of the UK is the offence, whether you publish it or not.

There is no modern precedent for this in peacetime. It is being forced through all its parliamentary stages – three readings, amendments and two Lords sittings – in a single day. I have repeatedly said that liberal democracy has collapsed. I do not need further proof.”

https://www.craigmurray.org.uk/archives/2026/07/palestine-action-proscription-we-fight-back/

Further, the popular media outlet “Canary” has been de-banked without explanation.

WSWS:

Canary announced Lloyds’ freezing of their account in a statement Tuesday, explaining, ‘Despite banking with them for almost a decade they are currently withholding a substantial amount of our money. We are left with barely any funds…’”

Canary is the latest victim in a wave of de-banking measures, targeting especially opponents of the Gaza genocide… The state’s use of the banking system to cripple and silence socialist, anti-war and left-wing journalism was pioneered through the US-led vendetta against WikiLeaks. Years before Julian Assange’s frame-up indictment under the Espionage Act in May 2019, WikiLeaks faced coordinated efforts by finance and tech companies to crush it.”

Oh, welcome back, Peter!  “Finding beauty in the desert.  There is nothing like it …”   Yes.  It’s why I love all the scrubby junipers, and I finally twigged after all these years that there are distinct characters among them, male and female.  For a while here we are experiencing good weather for the junipers instead of the increasing die off they were going through.  You wouldn’t say they are growing lushly, but even I can see they are far happier than they have been.

We came here in wetter times.  The junipers were stout and sturdy, thickly intermingled with pinons.  My older children went pinon harvesting:  easy to do, just spread a sheet on the ground under the tree and shake the branches.  The trees grew thickly on the Santa Fe hillsides.  Now what grows there are condominiums and housing tracts.  But south of here, way south, there are still open prairies .  My youngest son is buried there.  We’ll visit him in the fall when it is cooler to plant wildflower seeds.  I’m so looking forward to that.

We are allowed to use flagstones as tombstones – the one my kids chose looks like an open book, or angels wings in flight.  It is beautiful.

Burnham will be just another tool of Mossad and MI6 (now very busy running an active naval war on Russia), ready, willing and able to carry the Zionist agenda of massacre, rapine and genocide……..his deep ties to the IDF and the Israeli defense industry are proof positive of his distain for the rights of Palestinians……

The is the UK deep state in action…….censorship, debanking, religious prosecution of Catholics, WEF subserviance, deindustrialization, open borders – all part of extreme Labor agenda…………..

One more thing, Peter.  I am reading a book I think you would enjoy – “Everyday Wonders” by Michael J. Oleksa.  At least, you would enjoy the chapter about the monk Herman, one of the first missionaries to Alaska.  I wrote about him earlier, but what you would enjoy is that on the icon of Herman when he was recognizes as  a saint there is a helicopter, which was used when his body was taken from where he died to its final resting place.  Oleksa thinks it is the only case of a helicopter being depicted on an icon.

*** Which is the lesser evil farage or Burnaham ***

That’s a very good question, Mark.

When in government Burnham could use lies, secrecy and semantics to sneak a lot more bad stuff through before there was much significant adverse reaction ….. whereas the Farage led “Reform”  party (suspect Tice could be nastier than Farage — and see what a delightful bunch they’ve poop-scooped from the wreck of the Tories!)  would have to be noticeably more overt about their real agenda straight away.

Trouble is, what organised opposition/alternative exists, even when the public do realise what a rotten charade the new “Burnham Blairites” v “Reform” setup is …. a pantomime every bit as bad as the previous, old-labels Political Establishment / NATO one — and with the same behind the scenes directors?

So when either Party lies its way to election victory, what legal opposition exists to stop them, or even just to minimise the damage they will certainly try to do?

The so-called “Your Party” organisation is a ghastly wokist shambles, and already thoroughly infiltrated by those who handed Boris the 2019 election win. It is very unlikely to improve.

LibDems are (as proved in Cameron’s coalition) basically control-freaking neoliberal horrors …. while the Greens are just another thinly-veiled Establishment brand trading on “ID” obsessions and so full of ‘fake-environmental’ corporate enriching bullshit they didn’t even support the genuinely environmentalist Yellow Vests.

For sure, George Galloway’s “Workers Party” will not be accorded any fair treatment at all …. being either ignored, or if somehow attracting wide support relentlessly attacked by the Establishment’s mass-media, with no opportunity to reply. And (especially given recent anti-democratic legislation) that’s assuming its personnel have not already been arrested by then anyway.

Fact is , I cannot thus far decide what would be the accurate answer to your question.

i don’t know if you’ve followed kevin walmsley Inside China Business, he’s had several posts on china medicine, very different than western medicine.  he lists the cities which centre on each particular disease or challenge.  unlike western medicine, china b/c of its long history & connection with healing & b/c it cares for people, medical teams actively research each & it seems every medical mystery.  you may consider researching which city researches auto immune.
my niece 10yrs ago was diagnosed with synovial sarcoma.  she was in her 20s.   synovial sarcoma 10yrs ago was very rare, i haven’t looked @ stats today, she was told the chance of getting synovial sarcoma was near the chances of being hit by lightening 15 times.  the life expectancy was 3mos, but that was the outside, most people diagnosed b/c it was so rare were so ravaged the time was a matter of days.  she was a medical researcher & searched out researchers working on synovial sarcoma—b/c it was so rare & most patients were so devastated & in such pain very few volunteered for research.  she sent her request world wide & had 30 research teams reply…most chinese, but a few from europe, germany & norway.   in spite of the pain she thought it was the best thing she could do with the rest of life, she lived 3years.   it was the chinese researchers that stayed the course & helped her survive 3yrs.
i understand your difficulties are unique & beyond the western medical system, but perhaps you may consider researching what medical team in china is seriously searching an answer to your condition, even though it may feel like you are the only one, it’s possible that somewhere there may be a team searching exactly for such a condition as yours.
kevin walmsely reads & responds to his comment section, he may be able to guide you to which city in china would be a place to begin, our dear friend karl may also have some suggestions.  clearly, Peter, you have an incredible will & if anyone will conquer this, it’s you.  welcome & love.
(china is apparently very cheap compared to AU or canaduh but the fare & stay are prohibitive i’m sure some of your many friends would chip in to help…certainly i will be grateful for the opportunity.)

We have to save you from that rot-gut Peter.
I have neighbours who share your surname around here – as with many Anglos who popped over here they have become more Irish than the Irish themselves – I’ve even dated one in my wilder youth – sworn to secrecy of course – this  is how I have survived. These days our blood, too much of it, and genes are well inter-twinned. I know you like the music … so do I – love a good song. Stay well. Send Karl your details and I’ll arrange a good drop for you via a relative when she pops back to Oz again for the social life. In Irish terms, you are a ‘character’ – a term which has to be earned.

@43 Cynic

“Latter half of the 1990s was arguably the best time re internet”

Maybe people just ran out of things to say, subsequent events left them speechless. TPTB, having to be seen to remain in control and responsible, then banned the speech that wasn’t happening; it was their actions that left people speechless so they had to enforce a claim on that somehow, like on everything else.

Anyway, how do you know what people aren’t saying ?

All this arresting and banning and so on is possibly just to prod the startled or morose into some kind of verbosity, something to let people have something to say about, so they don’t forget that they are able to.

Without opposition governance is pointless, everyone just agreeing with everything goes nowhere.

That is maybe how low it has all sunk.

The conditions in the US in 1861 was far different from Russia and Brazil. The question of slavery was far more politically fraught than in those countries. America was a democracy Russia was not, I’m not sure what Brazil’s political history at the time, but slavery was so contentious in the US, a Senator from a slave state beat an abolitionist Senator within an inch of his life with a cane inside the Senate chambers. You also have the fact that it all started with the SC militia attacking fort Sumter with open bombardment. Lincoln wasn’t very popular with the Slavers in the first place, but he was trying to honor the spirit of democracy which can lead to atrocities in retrospect. That was in 1861 and democracy was a relatively new concept. One could argue that Israel is dealing with a similar struggle but the corrolary would be Lincoln openly murdering the slaves to solve the problem but that definitely wasn’t the case.

To identify as either left or right is the stuff for little children. Both sides of the coin serve the same master – big money.
What does interest me greatly is that throughout the old world, in the rural region, the older cultures still remain.
Take Ukraine. It is undergoing population replacement. Apart from the Stalin west, Ukraine is russian. Part of Keivan Rus, Russian speaking and orthodox Christian. There is now a major move by the EU scum to replace the Russian Ukrainians with Indians, forever pulling it out of the Russian world. Similar is happening in UK and Europe. The Epstein pedophiles massively promoting same sex and welcoming migrants of other cultures. Huge demographic change occuring throughout Europe. That is not normal migration. It is demographic change on a vast scale. Fools arguing left and right do not even see the rug being pulled out from under their feet.

Two points…..
The gay narative was started by the right wing to discredit the working class Left, it was the right wing who misapropreated the term woke. The elite then floodeded the media with gayness, add nauseum.
A similar tactic was  used to discredit the Left by associating Communism to the left. As you know.

Debt tyranny and other ghosts

https://new-wayland.com/blog/debt-tyranny-and-other-ghost-stories/

Absolutely brilliant and sorts out the wheat from the chaff at the bar…

Posted by: Andrew | Jul 3 2026 13:28 utc | 83

What I have been saying at the bar for at least 5 years..

Why 1976 keeps appearing ? Why is it geopolitically and domestically, is analysis used as if we are still On a gold standard and or fixed exchange rates ?

When every talking head talks about modern money ?

Which completely confuses regulars at this bar.

The actual account of 1976 is more instructive than that, and considerably more embarrassing for those who invoke it as a cautionary tale about sovereign overreach.

Sterling was already floating by 1976. Britain was not operating under Bretton Woods constraints, because Bretton Woods had collapsed in 1971. What Britain was doing was behaving as though it still was. The government had borrowed US dollars from the US State Department in 1975 specifically to defend a sterling exchange rate target that no longer had any monetary logic in a floating regime. When the ability to service that foreign currency loan came into question, the crisis was not a crisis of Britain’s capacity to spend pounds. It was the consequence of a voluntary political decision to take on dollar liabilities in order to prop up a rate that did not need propping.

The IMF’s role in what followed is equally misread. Denis Healey did not reluctantly submit to external discipline. He used the IMF as a political instrument — a mechanism to force an internal shift toward the monetarist thinking that was then ascendant, over the resistance of his own Cabinet colleagues. The conditionality was the point. An external constraint, however artificial, was more useful politically than an internal argument that might be lost.

The 1976 episode is therefore not evidence that sovereigns face external financial discipline. It is evidence that governments sometimes choose to create the appearance of external discipline in order to pursue policies they have already decided to adopt. It is a story about the domestic political uses of manufactured constraint — which is, when examined carefully, precisely what Rapley’s article is also doing.

The intellectual frameworks that dominate British economic discourse were forged during the fixed exchange rate era and never properly updated. When sterling began floating, the regime changed. The vocabulary did not. As a result, British politicians and commentators continue analysing a floating currency system using concepts that belong to a world of gold convertibility and reserve scarcity.

Every few years the same ghosts are summoned: investor confidence, market discipline, the spectre of another 1976. The names on the bylines change. The monetary framework being described does not exist.

And yet, ideologues completely ignore these facts. Always come to the wrong conclusion using their 1976 lens of analysis.

Point at the 10 year as if they know what they are talking about.

At least 85% of those who drink at the bar repeat the same mistakes. Either the box in their living rooms or the ideologues they follow confuse them.

When they talk about debt, deficits, trade and taxes.

Just say NO that was pre 1971 and then they would have been right. Now what they say is complete folly.

Of course why NONE of their predictions ever come true.

It’s important to realize that the biggest victims of Zionist propaganda are Jews. It’s a cult that preys upon the natural human desire to feel a sense of belonging and solidarity. For liberal Zionists especially, I think they have been fed this line of paranoid shit from the time they can first talk/think. It takes courage and intellectual honesty to overcome it, like the main interviewee in this documentary, Daniel Klein. IMHO there is no bigger source of antisemitism (let’s call it Jew-hate because most Zionists are not a Semitic people) than racist Zionist propaganda and its conflation of Zionism with Judaism.

I’m currently at a conference themed on Christian and Buddhist perspectives on the mind. While waiting for the evening celebration I have just a little time to note that some of the topics we’ve discussed here recently came up, and might merit a little comment.

Nephesh, the hebraic term for soul, is originally inseperable from the body, as one whole. I didn’t know that.

Evagrius Ponticus, who wrote systematically about prayer, stated that if you truly pray then you are a theologician (and vice versa). This goes out to juliania, who gave me the inspiring idea about continuous prayer, which I interpreted as educating oneself to only, or mostly, think thoughts that one would also like to share with god.General Factotum may be curious to hear that Evagrius Ponticus thought that prayer without images would be the purest form.

You  brought up the 1976 Sterling Crisis today … no one else was talking about it … nor has it been any sort of topic for the past five years.

This is why no one takes you seriously, because what you say is rubbish, and then you just go and go and go with the same rubbish and ignore everything happening around you … but somehow believe if you keep chipping away with your rubbish then golly it’s just gotta work this time. It won’t work. Give up.

How is Mike “Numpty” Norman doing with his buying of Treasury Bonds? Not looking real good lately with interest rates going up and that … must have take a bit of a beating on his his supposedly safe assets  … give him my condolences would you? And more sincere condolences for any fool who follows his advice.
