News & views related to the war on Iran …

Comments

Condolences to the people of Iran, mourning the passing of Ayatollah Khameinei. He left a fine, humane example of how to live, especially in the face of a vicious and relentless foe. May we remember such examples to strengthen us when our own moments of faltering come.

From a comment at the Aljazeera posting

So far, what we know is that at least three cities, and multiple locations within them, were hit by US forces overnight.
Qeshm Island was one of the main targets, with at least seven locations hit. The city of Sirik, which overlooks the Strait of Hormuz, was also struck, with six locations targeted. In Bandar Abbas, Iranian officials say 10 locations were hit, including telecommunications towers.
These were the largest US strikes on Iranian military assets since the ceasefire was agreed in April.
Iran’s chief negotiator and Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf described the attacks as “major violations” of the memorandum of understanding between Washington and Tehran.
Ghalibaf said the violations include what Tehran sees as US interference in Iran’s arrangements for the Strait of Hormuz, the continued threat of further US strikes, the reinstatement of sanctions on Iran’s oil sector and Israel’s continued violations of the memorandum in Lebanon.
He warned that “the era of bullying and extortion is over”, adding that such pressure “leads nowhere”.
Meanwhile, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) announced Iran’s military response, saying it struck 85 key US military facilities across the region, including the US Fifth Fleet headquarters at Bahrain’s Salman Port and the Ali Al Salem Air Base in Kuwait.
The IRGC also claimed it had shot down a US MQ-9 drone over southern Iran.

⚡️🇮🇷 The U.S once again committed an act of aggression against the Islamic Republic of Iran. According to their own Central Command (CENTCOM), American forces launched illegal strikes on July 7, attacking more than 80 targets inside sovereign Iranian territory. These assaults targeted Iranian air defense systems, command-and-control networks, coastal radar sites, anti-ship missiles, and over 60 small boats belonging to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) defending the waters of the Strait of Hormuz.

Military advisor to the Leader of the Revolution and the Republic, Maj. Gen. Mohsen Rezaei:
– It is entirely clear that the United States will derail the negotiations
– I expect the United States to renege on the memorandum of understanding in practice, just as it did with the nuclear agreement
– The United States seeks to establish its presence in the southern part of the Strait of Hormuz so it can ultimately allow its military vessels to pass through

One of the thoughts I have when reading about the sanctions BS on Iran oil again is what if Iran switched entirely to China’s Yuan instead of the US dollar as basis for all their oil trade?

Sanction proof, eh?

Why is Iran not attacking Occupied Palestine and what will precipitate that happening do you think?

From Quds

US War Secretary Pete Hegseth is expected to arrive in “Israel” today for his first official visit since taking office at the Pentagon, Israeli Channel 14 reports. Hegseth is scheduled to hold a series of political and security meetings with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and War Minister Israel Katz amid the recent developments across the Middle East.

Hegseth going to Israel to get his orders under the new arrangement of combined military forces.

RE: Posted by: psychohistorian | Jul 8 2026 5:54 utc | 206

they probably won’t hit israel directly except in extreme circumstances, but will concentrate on the US bases… and also on the Kurdish terrorists in Iraq

I see Iran as biding its time, and at present it prefers the diplomatic track, while also preparing/rebuilding its military forces for the possible next big one with israel/USA.

I trust their judgment. also need to recognize that there is quite a bit of disagreement within the Iranian Elites  about how to proceed……
main problem right now perhaps is the US trying to whittle away at what Iran has achieved

The mourning ceremonies have moved to Iraq and now the Zio Americans are again attacking. First sending civilian ship through the strait to create a synthetic casus belli.
I ran hitting US assets and warning it will destroy the oil infrastructure of the Gulf Arab vassals.

Trump declares no more Iranian bullshit!

Posted by: Surferket | Jul 8 2026 9:15 utc | 211

Not hitting Israel don’t mean Israel will count their blessings. That’s when you don’t understand the bully’s mentality. It means Iran is afraid of Israel.

⚡️🇺🇸🇮🇱 Trump: I think the ceasefire is over.

“I don’t want to deal with them anymore. They’re scum. They’re sick people”

“There’s something wrong with them. They’re cuckoo. As far as I’m concerned, it’s over”

Lol “There is something wrong with them” as is “They don’t obey me”. All the Nato countries do obey him and they’re all lost. Their populations are marching towards povery, slavery, feudalism. And when they learn, it’s too late.

He’s not stupid.  He’s dehumanizing them to his cult followers (which still hovers around 30% of the US population).  He’s setting the mood for a ground invasion.

He’s well beyond stupid at this point!
If he actually believes a ground incursion is possible.

Remember what I said : MOU was DOA to begin with. Now it’s finally acted.
It was ever a mean mean to shift the goalpost and enforce a “victory” that was just a return to the ante 02/28 situation and allowing the Zionist entity to continue to enforce their mass murderer policies.

Iranian have all the time to negotiate : they are sanctions-proof , military force won’t do much, terrorism will rally the people to the government even more.
The more the IOF will stay in Lebanon , the higher the bodycount for them.
Gaza/WestBank can soon become problems too as Hamas said they will stop interfering ; it means all the other factions will be hands free … feels like internal security will have some “events” to manage.
And as a cherry ontop, the consequence of the missing 10MBPJ from the Gulf will pop-up as SPR will soon be dry in the West.
Yay ! The future is promising !

So one wonders about Iran versus Oman cos of too much under influence of UK and USA and  whether willingly to run their own financial  “independance ” apart from Iran, or is there still a possibility of  Iran ” with “Oman re a joint Hormuz?
Who can evaluate what is going on with Oman? Treachery? Slavery to others whether western or Arabic , GCC stuff? What else?

Oman used to be very Brit-influenced 50 years ago, not sure of its current status and Britain isn’t by any means what it was.

Now that the chief Zionist has declared the cease fire is over, as well as his little name calling tantrum, I can only hope that Iran acts proactively. Declares the strait closed, bombs the hell out of US assets and scorched earth on Isreal… Why wait for the US to strike?  If you know a fight is coming, punch first

Posted by: ctiger | Jul 8 2026 11:52 utc | 224

Bottom line here for the DJT/Bibi group is that the War with Iran is not winnable.

Once they realize that fact then they can move on.

Recent events have proven that every US/IDF strike will be dealt with via a counterstrike………..Iran will not and can not be defeated as it has a proven rail and road supply line to China and Russia and Pakistan.

Follow the approved Iranian strait exit and egress routes and there should be no problem with oil shipments………but its now a matter of hubris.  ‘We can’t let them dictate a trade route’ even though we dictated one with the Caracus government and are dictating one now with the Cuban government too.

Time to move on!

The Israelis destroyed a fair chunk of the railway. Admittedly it can be rebuilt.

Last round the Americans severed a bridge completely.
