There are no “peace” negotiations or agreements by the USA/EU for Iran. The on again off again hot war for decades on Iran is a similar tactic used on Syria, Iraq before invasion, Palestine for 8 decades, Lebanon, Yemen, Ukraine before the SMO, Darfur, Sudan, Somalia, Ethiopia.

Iran is bigger than the rest of those examples and the USA/EU lacks weapons stores, needs air and sea asset maintenance schedules, manpower, etc. This is why the USA involves EU nations ships, planes, NATO bases of EU troops, Israel to die to the last Zionist.

The publication “New Eastern Outlook” has an excellent article about how the attack on Iran benefits large multinational corporations, especially oil and weapons focused corporations.
 
I am looking for articles that discuss the US/West capacity to continue to come up with weapons systems to attack Iran with. I suspect that it will be less than 4 weeks until the US/West becomes unable to come up with weapons systems capable of attacking Iran. (The long range large payload systems will run out, and some replacement parts for attack aircraft will run out, but I expect a lot of old left over bombs will be taught to fly and be flung around) So, I’m looking for a publication that lists all the significant warships (might be called “destroyer” but NOT limited to destroyers) and what number and kind of weapons they carry, and all the stuff that effects the ability to or not to make war. 
 
When I ask Google AI: tell me about US warships and their ability to damage Iran the AI would reply something like; “the US has 98 destroyers and can wipe Iran off the map”. But when I dig deeper, turns out only half those warships are functional at any given time, and they are also deployed to other parts of the world, so only 8 destroyers are available for duty in Southwest Asia. So the 8 destroyers may have between 68 and 98 “large missiles” (Tomahawk land attack missiles with a warhead of about 1/2 tone each, and they are EASY for Russia to shoot down, maybe not so easy for Iran, at the moment, but that could change dramatically any moment) available to fire. Once the warship blows its wad after missiles, it must return to a base with special capabilities, meaning a loading crane and crew capable of the job. The US ship could have gone to Bahrain base and be reloaded, but Iran destroyed that base and it is under fire-controle of Iran. Next closest base was southern Oman where a new missile loading capacity was recently stood up. But Iran blasted that naval base in Oman to smithereens. Next closest place for the warships to reload is in the Mediterranean, and the empty warships would subject themselves to Yemen Answer-Allah hijacking or destruction. Next nearest base to reload the empty warships is Deago Garcia which is a 6 weeks journey there and back if everything else was timed perfectly. So the initial response from the AI and the reality in the area of conflict are dramatically opposite! I have not thought about the carrier based air assault capacity, but it looks like it takes 4 times the infrastructure to deliver a JASSM air launched long range 1/2 ton warhead missile. (Always include the range and warhead size when naming any weapons system, or an AI will have you thinking a Hellfire missile with a 15 pound warhead and a 30 mile range was comparable to an Iranian missile with a 2,000 mile range and a 1.5 ton warhead) Anyways, I haven’t sorted out the carrier aspect of the attack on Iran, but I expect it to be smaller, more fragile and less destructive than the large ship launched missiles. Maybe one of our barflies can investigate?

It’s strange though, they avoided being targeted (centrally at least) for several weeks I think, so why they are openly taking part again is not clear.

The explosions are said to be overhead interceptions, or attempted interceptions.

@39 correct, the Aegis surveillance nodes are long range high altitude detection and discrimination.
 
A separate radar set on the ship could track low altitude targets such as cruise missiles, but it is not very good.
 
The response is to fly AWACS  and P 8 to augment radar coverage and use fighters to look down shoot down.  All that means refueling.

Also note although these destroyers at 9,000 tons displacement are just shy of a WWII Heavy Cruiser (10,000 tones) – the Arleigh Burke Class has nil real armor plating. The supposed kevlar armor is an afterthought.
