War On Iran: – Trump: “It Really Probably Is Unconditional Surrender”

On Wednesday, June 17 2026, Trump signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Iran in Versailles. That palace has seen a lot of defeats.

Asked about the MoU he called it an “unconditional surrender”:

Caputo also asked Trump about his original promise that the war would end with an “unconditional surrender” from Tehran, pointing to the memorandum of understanding he signed on Wednesday.

“Well, it really probably is unconditional surrender,” Trump told the outlet.
Trump says there are ‘no limits’ to his powerThe Hill

But Trump leaves this open: Surrender by whom?

His declared war aims and demands for Iran were regime change, no ballistic missiles and no nuclear program.

Now Trump himself is fearing regime change. He defends Iran’s reliance on ballistic missiles and no longer minds it having nuclear stuff.

March 6 2026:

President Trump declared on Friday that he would settle for nothing short of “unconditional surrender” by Iran, the latest and broadest expansion of his goals for the conflict, …

Six days into the Israeli and American bombing campaign, Iran has shown no interest, at least publicly, in surrendering.

Mr. Trump declared on Saturday, in the opening hours of the U.S. attack, that Iran’s people should rise up and overthrow their government.

But in the following days, both Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth pivoted away from the emphasis on regime change, saying that the United States was simply focused on assuring that Iran’s nuclear program was permanently destroyed, and that it no longer had the missile capability to attack Israel, its Arab neighbors, and perhaps someday America.

Trump Demands ‘Unconditional Surrender’ by Iran (archived) – Mar 6 2026 – NY Times

June 18 2026:

President Donald Trump said Wednesday that he was motivated to finalize the memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Iran to prevent “economic catastrophe” if the war was not resolved soon.

“So rather than possibly going into a depression, rather than having your favorite president be Herbert Hoover, he was always the one I didn’t want to be,” Trump said of the 31st president whose policies are often blamed for starting the Great Depression.

Trump also said he was open to allowing Iran to maintain its stockpile of ballistic missiles, claiming it was “unfair” for Iran to not be able to have the weapons if their neighbors do.

And despite his insistence that the memorandum states that Iran cannot develop or obtain a nuclear weapon — one of his chief concerns during negotiations, Trump also appeared softer during the press conference on Wednesday in his position on whether Iran could develop a nuclear program for civilian purposes in the future.

“You know, it’s also, it is a little hard though when you say that somebody wants—other people have it, other adjoining states have it and you’re not letting them have it for purposes of electricity and things like that. It’s always a little tough. You have to use a little common sense,” Trump added.

Trump didn’t want ‘Herbert Hoover’ presidency with Iran; said it has to have ‘some’ missiles – Jun 18, 2026 – ABCnews

Professor Mearsheimer was quite explicit in his latest talk (vid) with Judge Napolitano: Trump must shut the war down, whatever it politically might cost, to save the economy and his presidency.

After he had launched the war he had to surrender, unconditionally, to prevent a global depression (which still may well happen).  It may still take while, and maybe even another round of fighting, until that really sinks in.

Shutting down the War Machine takes time and as Larry Johnson reported yesterday that process has begun. But the Big Problem as discussed yesterday are the Genocidal Zionists who believe they have the right to exterminate anyone–and I mean anyone.

Meanwhile, there appears to be positive movement as Al-Mayadeen reports an Iranian delegation has departed for Zurich. The delegation named itself MInab 168 and consists of:

  1. Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, Speaker of the Iranian Parliament
  2. Abbas Araghchi, Minister of Foreign Affairs
  3. Ali Bagheri, Deputy Secretary for International Affairs of the Supreme National Security Council
  4. Abdolnasser Hemmati, Governor of the Central Bank of Iran
  5. Hamid Boud, Deputy Oil Minister and Head of the National Iranian Oil Company
  6. Kazem Gharibabadi and Esmaeil Baghaei, aides to the foreign minister, in addition to other officials

Furthermore:

Meanwhile, Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced that technical-level talks will be held in Bürgenstock, Switzerland, on June 21. The discussions are a follow-up to the signing of the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding.

Representatives from the United States and Iran, alongside mediators from Pakistan and Qatar, are expected to attend the session. Pakistan’s Ministry reiterated that Islamabad will continue its facilitation role as part of its ongoing mediation efforts.

Meanwhile, Genocidal Zionists continue their crusade in Lebanon and Occupied Palestine. Getting a very insecure Trump to do what must be done is a very tall order since him and his gang continue to operate under completely unrealistic premises as reflected by the lies they tell to media.

By closing the Strait (inst of just attacking Israel), Iran is taking down The (decadent) West (of which Israel is but a symptom). Our “leaders” need something to occupy their time, other than bombing people (like how to avoid getting strung up by angry starving hoards)

Whose surrender?
Well… whose empire?
King Croesus famously consulted the famed Oracle of Apollo at Delphi about his prospects if he attacked Persia. As Herodotus tells it, the oracle said:
“…that if Croesus should send an army against the Persians he would destroy a great empire.”
On that basis, King Croesus attacked the Persians, and the great empire that was destroyed was his own.
A case of history rhyming… at the very least.

Croesus’ subsequent invasion and defeat by the Persian king, Cyrus, saw the destruction of his own empire. The oracle accurately foretold the outcome but not as Croesus had hoped.

Thx, b.

Again, so many people are missing the larger stakes that this moment is revealing. But bringing up Herber Hoover gives us a clue.

America could not avoid a Great Depression, regardless of the policies of Herbert Hoover. The Financialization of the American Econony was already in full swing as the roaring twenties proved the acceleration of the bifurcation of America into the elite and the proles.

The only thing that got America rolling again was the second World War and its outcome, not the policies of that Statist and war criminal, FDR.

So fast forward nearly a hundred years and here we are again. Trump invokes the legacy of Herbet Hoover and he is using sleight of hand to fool us all into thinking that he truly was for tariffs (which he abandoned), that he was for deporting illegals (which he abandoned), and that he was a fiscal hawk (DOGE anyone?…(also abandoned)).

The only thing that can save the Financialization epoch of the current American system and its economy lies in the legacy not of Herbert Hoover who tried isolationist policies and perhaps failed (though the true extent of this failure has been propagandized so that any introspective or isolationist attunement of the American stance is viewed as effeminate and well, generally UnAmerican), but of the Presidents who needed a war to enact its program of World Policing for the Elites who control media, industry, and history itself.

Trump is nothing like Hoover whom he uses ad a scapegoat, whether knowingly or not. He is far, far worse.

Talk is cheap. The U.S. has never abided by any agreement period. Israel is still attacking Lebanon. So realistically: what agreement? If Trump takes away the munitions and targeting, refueling, etc. Israel will assassinate him.

China and Russia have to consider many aspects now but in time I dont think the multipolar world will accept any territorial gains by Israel. My guess is China may eventually suggest some middle eastern collaboration without such conquests but with some positive prospects for all sides. Win-win. If Israel is at that time still connected to the financial world like I claim it is now such plans would still be possible

But there is one risk. Namely that we humans may be too many and even though some of you dont believe in a higher power there still may be one and it might not allow us to expand at the expence of the rest of life. It really would make sense if mankind could figure out if there is such a condition on us. Because if there is we may fail to ever find peace unless we adjust how much we are spread out. And are more concerned about other than human affairs.

The war against or rather to control Iran began well before Epstein was born. The Imperialist, Colonialist ancien regime is the group that initiated the conflict and continues it and are certainly leading members of what I called the Epstein Syndicate several years ago. IMO, if the Zionists really had hard evidence on Trump via his relations with Epstein, they would now be using that material, but we see nothing of the sort.

Nice to see a couple of post on the previous day’s thread which get it.

This is America’s war in Lebanon.  This is America ethnically cleansing just as it was the American genocide in Gaza.  It’s also American attacks on Russia.

This doesn’t need to be more complicated, unless one wants to give cover to Americans.  You know, those people who are part of the greatest country that ever existed, yet the poor, helpless dears are always being taken advantage of by those big, bad foreigners.  America and Americans own this 100%.  Stop falling for the con.

The Outlaw US Empire’s interests will compel it to slap down the Zionists, which will not be an easy task. Some say replacing Netanyahu will be sufficient, I disagree as the “opposition” is just as rabidly genocidal. IMO, a battle will ensue within the Empire because of Zionist media control. Indeed, the result of Trump’s #1 War Crime might be the severing of the relationship between the Empire and the Zionists.

Yeah FDR didn’t end the depression with his socialist policies. Nah he won 4 straight terms as president because he was ineffective. STFU, if he didn’t implement the new deal followed that with massive war spending the country would not have experienced the growth of the largest middle class expansion in history. Republican claptrap cannot change what really happened. Even Trump symbolically destroying the east wing won’t change what happened. Heck Eisenhower’s platform was more progressive than today’s Democrats.

Every day since the start of the latest war, Hezbollah has taken roughly 13 Israeli officers and soldiers out of the fight. For a resistance movement with no air force, no tanks, no warships, and none of the resources of a state army, that is an extraordinary achievement against the most heavily armed and technologically advanced military in the Middle East.

Israel entered the war expecting overwhelming superiority to dictate the outcome. Instead, it has been paying a daily price in blood and manpower to confront a force that fights without fighter jets, without armoured divisions, and without the vast military infrastructure enjoyed by a state. The numbers alone challenge the narrative of an easy or decisive victory.

I made the mistake (again) of watching @CNN today. I feel for Americans tuning in to CNN sincerely trying to understand what is happening in the Middle East. CNN hosts and a guest “expert” mourned Hezbollah’s killing of four Israeli soldiers as a violation of the ceasefire and an act of terrorism. You would have thought that Hezbollah carried out an unprovoked attack on Israeli territory.

It was as if the CNN panel didn’t know, or didn’t care, that when these Israeli soldiers were targeted they were inside of Lebanon and actively continuing an invasion of that country, advancing toward a key hilltop position, in clear violation of article 1 of the MOU. Dear Lord.

Agreed. The zionist project represents a useful imperial crowbar in an important resource-rich region, and it is a convenient payola laundromat that for decades could get away with openly corrupting the political system where others would draw fire because, ya know, antisemitism. Nevertheless, the spice… er, I mean oil… must flow. The Empire is in a bit of a geopolitical wedgie here and cannot have its zionist cake and consume the region’s petrochemicals too. It gets one or the other at this point, not both.

I am not adding anything new here, I am just voicing what to me is the biggest surprise, and that is that the Zionists haven’t already used their nukes on Iran.

A piece of the puzzle is missing. The Zionists must know something threatening, really believe something, that is constraining them. Without that something they would use nukes in a heartbeat.

Who thinks the US actually desires “a lasting peace deal?” – of course – no one;

Using Israel as a pretext for continued war while affording the US plausible deniability is literally stated US policy repeatedly used by the US spanning the Biden and Trump administrations from 2024 to now to provoke and sustain this war of aggression against Iran in the first place;

As warned about all throughout these “negotiations,” as long as the structural realities driving US policy – the pursuit of power and profit over people and purpose – US policy itself will not change;

In this case, not even the lies we’re being told are changing as to why US policy won’t change…

Trump now faces a domestic political problem: Almost all Republicans are likely on Israel’s payroll, either directly or indirectly.
But Trump must show that he’s “the boss,” so Israel must not be allowed to succeed with its current disregard for him.
This won’t lead to a break with Israel, but it will lead to a break with Netanyahu and the Israeli lobby in the U.S.
I’m curious to see what he’ll do.

Fact is, Generalissimo Trump doesn’t actually know what “unconditional surrender” means.

The parties’ negotiation and signing of a Memorandum of Understanding includes 14 conditions. Duh!

But Donnie heard a tough actor in a Hollywood war movie demand “unconditional surrender” from a whipped-cur enemy. So in his squirrel-sized cognitive organ, he thinks it’s a cool, intimidating thing to say, as the shocked Persians cower in terror.

Always keep the midterm elections in mind. Trump needs cheap oil; otherwise, it’s game over for him in the elections. Besides, the industry is up in arms—and so is big business.

IRGC Closes Hormuz:  ‘Either Respect Lebanese Sovereignty or Else’

Good news – IRGC declared control of Hormuz. With USraeli breaking the deal it’s no longer subject to the MOU and outside control of potential traitorous domestic politicians.

There appears to be a split between the SNSC and the Supreme Leader.

Reports are the military are firmly with standing with the Leader whose security remains tight with messages going through several different layers before reaching him.

Qalibaf is now being accused of deliberately keeping Parliament close to prevent debate on the acceptance of the MoU.

Nabavian, a Parliamentarian giving an interview on National TV was cut short when he made comments about the disagreements between the Leader and Security Council.

The head of national TV has resigned and IRIB is now suing Nabavian.

IMO, there’s greater transparency within the Iranian government if you can read Farsi and local Iranian press. Mojtaba objected to the MOU but allowed the Supreme Security Council to adopt provided it was approved by a supermajority. His wisdom was thus proven superior, but where would we be if haggling over it continued? Would Iran have struck Occupied Palestine as hard as it vowed? Might that still occur? And just who is actually new? And another issue that was raised recently–the Iranian economy has many Neoliberal aspects that has retarded Iran’s development which has escaped the level of discussion it merits. Improvement in Iran’s domestic economy that rewards the populace for its critical level of support in the war will go a longways to smoothing domestic relations and possibly altering the internal political dynamic.

How the Persian Gulf nations rearrange their relations–particularly their economic relations with the Outlaw US Empire–will to a large degree affect the path Iran takes. Yes, the ongoing conflict with Zionists will continue and affect Iran but not as much if it can coerce the Empire to honor the key MOU components that allow it to have sovereignty.

In the countries in decline, the USA and its vassals, the fiction is more important than the reality; in the ascendant countries today with resources, technology and capital, Russia, China, Iran, the reality is more important than the fiction.
Guess who will win the struggle in the end? Unsure? Look at history, Napoleonic France, the USA Confederacy, the Fascist powers. Marching head-on into fantasy is a dead end.

Iran keeps agreeing to these convoluted ceasefires when all it needs to do is demand that Israel starts pulling out of Lebanon before Hormuz is opened or new talks held. By not demanding this upfront, Iran is diluting its negotiation position and allowing the US to shape the public’s perception. Israel must pull out of Lebanon before anything else happens. No ifs, ands, or buts.

Kayfabe isn’t an exclusive of ClownWorld, the Resistance can play at it too, in the old days it was called deception, the Russians named it maskirovka, it’s possible the split inside Iran is deception to entangle the USA in its weakness and arrogance. What seems like a split in Iran might be designed to reinforce military and state power, show its underlying wisdom. Maybe planned that way from the start, give the Americans some line before reeling in the big fish.

Rather than attribute this apparently political split within Iran as some kind of Machiavellian 5-D chess play, or otherwise being done on purpose, how ’bout we chalk it up to the fact that Iran is a large country with lots of intelligent people with opinions, not all of who agree with each other (and some of whom may disagree violently), and which is subject to the same kind of schisms as any other highly-developed society?

Some are aware that the official funeral for Imam Khamenei will soon occur. New Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei has written an announcement related to that event addressed to Iran and the entire world that was published on his website. Of course, I suggest it be read and it’s rather brief. Readers will note the tie-in with the very powerful Explosive MediaRise Up” video and others including its most recent which encapsulates the conflict Gruff and I mentioned.

Yes, there’s certainly issues with the domestic economy. As long $USD is used, I can’t see that change.

However, my understanding was the use of the petroyuan had gone a long way to insulate Iran and in the since the war Iran has gain more revenue.

But your much earlier comment about Lebanon still holds true.

isntreal is still bombing and the Iranians are still being restrained from responding despite the MoU not being upheld.

With the National football team in enemy territory, I personally think the continued closure of Hormuz is currently the best option.

Regarding the MoA, It looks like Iran will NEVER get the money that the US has grabbed. The following article from the Guardian makes clear that instead of freeing the money FIRST, it will only be freed after a total Iranian surrender of defeat over the uranium enrichment. that means never. Once the US grabs money (as in Russia’s $300 billion in Brussels), it will never give it back:Lockridge Okoth “Trump to Return Iran’s Frozen Money to Protect the Dollar,” Yahoo, June 17, 2026. https://www.yahoo.com/news/politics/articles/trump-return-iran-frozen-money-195551788.html. Trump pointed out that “We are not putting up money,” since it was Iran’s to begin with, but said that he was holding onto it as a lever to impose UI.S. demands to limit Iran’s freedom of action, saying that he would release the funds “Only if they are doing things right.”

I was going to reply further to Suresh’s second link at 57 but this will suffice. Mojtaba in his own words said he had problems with approving the MOU and delegated what would have been his decision alone to that of the SNSC provided it was done via a supermajority. Yes, the he said/she said rumpus may indeed be a ruse given the facts I reported above. As far as we know, the negotiating teams left for their destinations with Mojtaba’s blessing; IMO, they wouldn’t have departed without it as was the case yesterday.

arby @43: “Who thinks the US actually desires “a lasting peace deal?””

LASTING peace? Nobody here expects that, but the Empire definitely needs to call “time out!” right now. Trump is not exaggerating about the scale of the economic problems the hegemon is facing if the war continues.

As for the US needing some sort of pretext or excuse to continue the war, I just don’t see it. Who is putting the pressure on Trump to stop the war? The political dynamics are the other way around right now. The support for the war from the swamp is bipartisan and the mass media is behind it. There is no anti-war movement of any significance in the Empire either. Trump doesn’t need any sort of political cover for continuing the war. He could resume bombing right now and practically nobody in the swamp or the mass media would complain at all.

The reality is the exact opposite. Trump is taking flack for trying to stop the war, even if just temporarily. Who is he winning points from for doing that?

With ki Translation
“What drives President Trump? What drives Trump the man? Profits are not shared here; Israel’s war needs a scapegoat. Will Israel surrender too? Without the USA, they would have to. Without the USA, they would not have started. Trump already communicated different goals during his first presidency, just like Zelensky, without success. Trump seems trapped between Epstein’s ‘friendship’ and Netanyahu’s chutzpah, a total failure of the USA security apparatus. The USA never had anything to gain, which is also a failure of the president’s advisors—too many yes-men in the echo chamber. But he survived an assassination attempt, so he is still capable of acting. Maduro was certainly an Israeli idea too, an appetizer for more that got stuck in the throat.”

You note a very important and curious point. There are some former US military patriots who have opposed the War Crime from its outset, and they likely reflect a sizable % of military opinion. Other key interests must be very unhappy with Trump and his Gang for their policies that have harmed and retarded any attempt at MAGA. And then there’re many genuine Libertarians who have opposed Trump’s policies from the outset. And then there’re many of us who opposed Trump and rooted for Iran but are bewildered by Trump’s acceptance of the MOU and don’t want to reward him for that since he still must pay for his Crimes. I confess to being in total agreement with the Iranian call to Rise Up! While I also ask the same question as the recent Explosive Media video asks: “Who will lead the revolution?”

Bullshit.  It’s as Trump says: peace now of global economic collapse.  The midterm election outcome is a secondary issue, at best.  The way you describe it, you’d think whether the war should continue is merely a political issue and not an objective necessity for world economic stability.
If you are minimizing the objective need of an immediate halt to the war, you are to the Zio right of Trump.  Which is all well and good, but don’t pretend to be of the people or anti war.  Your just a run of the mill, crypto Zio.

Thanks again Karl.

This one is for smartfox and others who can’t access announce #4 posted by Karl earlier.

In the Name of God, the Compassionate, the Merciful
Peace be upon you, O Tharallah [the Blood of God] and the son of His blood!

Simultaneously with the arrival of the month of Muharram – the month of the victory of blood over the sword and the days of mourning for the Master and Leader of all freedom-seekers around the world, the Master of the Martyrs [Imam Hussain (pbuh)] and his loyal companions – and on the eve of the farewell, funeral procession, and burial ceremonies for the mujahid and martyred Imam, Grand Ayatollah Sayyid Ali Hosseini Khamenei (may God sanctify his pure soul), as well as the martyred members of the Leader of the Islamic Revolution’s family, we hereby announce the thematic direction and the propagational and outreach approaches for this event to the noble Iranian nation and the devoted followers of this unparalleled figure of our time, both inside and outside the country.
In his first message regarding our martyred Leader, Ayatollah Sayyid Mojtaba Khamenei, the Leader of the Islamic Revolution (may his sublime shadow endure), stated: “I had the honor of visiting his body after his martyrdom; what I saw was a mountain of steadfastness, and I heard that he had clenched the fist of his uninjured hand…”
This “clenched fist,” which serves as the official emblem of the farewell to that unparalleled figure of our time, is not merely a symbol; it is the very embodiment of the Father of the Nation’s kind hand – a hand that repeatedly stood firm against Global Arrogance, never trembled, and was never extended except to God.
It is from the heart of this very clenched fist and the surging blood of such a powerful yet oppressed figure that the hearts of freedom-seekers across the world have been stirred into tumult, and the Iranian nation has experienced a new bi’tha [rising up to be present on the scene] – a bit’ha whose continuation must be ensured by raising high the flag of the Front of Truth across the globe, avenging the pure blood of our mujahid and martyred Imam, and building a stronger future for Islamic Iran.
Martyr Khamenei (may God elevate his noble station) attained martyrdom in a bloody war. Such a martyrdom has never been witnessed in war among the scholars of the Imamiyyah (may God be pleased with them) for a figure of his high stature and rank.
In the wake of the surge of this sacred blood, which has sent shockwaves through time and space, the central slogan of this ceremony shall be: “We Must Rise.”
This slogan is the continuation of the very “Uprising for God” [Qiyam Lillah] which, at the dawn of June 4th of this year, was declared by our dear Leader (may his sublime shadow endure) as the foundation of the school of thought of the Great Imam Khomeini and the cherished Khamenei. It is an uprising that began on 15th of Khordad, 1342 AHS [June 5, 1963], bore fruit in Bahman 1357 AHS [February 1979], endured throughout the Era of Resistance, and has now reached a monumental new milestone with the tragic martyrdom of that righteous servant of God.
“We Must Rise” means this blood surges with such intensity that it will permit no rest to any devoted soul.
“We Must Rise” means the covenant this newly arisen nation has sealed with his blood will be sustained until our final breath.
For this ceremony, titled “Bidding Farewell to the Leader of the Truth‑Seekers of Our Time,” a visual identity package has been designed to serve as the foundation for the creation and distribution of all media content, propagational materials, civic and public spatial designs, cultural products, and related programs.
This mourning, however, is not confined to the people of Iran. From the countries of the Resistance Front to the farthest corners of the globe, the free and freedom-loving people of the world are mourning this monumental martyrdom. Inspired by that very school of thought, the Islamic Ummah now chants the divine call: “Arise for God [Qumu Lillah].” This slogan encapsulates the essence of the final guidance and wise messages of our martyred Imam. “Arise for God” is not merely his counsel; it is a renewal of allegiance to his school of thought. It is a declaration to the world that his greatness, faith, and unparalleled courage will endure with even greater power and fortitude.
Through divine grace and the special providence of Imam Mahdi (may God hasten his noble reappearance), this farewell shall, God willing, serve as the harbinger of a manifest victory. It marks a historic turning point in the bi’tha of the Iranian nation and the Islamic Ummah as they march toward the bright horizons ahead, under the leadership of the Leader of the Islamic Revolution (may his sublime shadow endure).
