War On Iran: Trump Has To Stop Israel Or Account For A Depression

My last piece about the War On Iran had closed with this:

Trump will be hard pressed by both parties in Congress to cancel the MoU. His critics however fail to point to better alternatives. Strategic oil reserves are running dry, tankers are still held up in Hormuz, and even if things go well it will take many months for oil prices to come down to more normal levels. (Things would by the way be much worse if China had not rapidly decreased its imports of oil.)

The continuing lack of oil on the market is giving Iran an huge advantage in upcoming negotiations.

Trump has since acknowledged that the economic situation is on the verge of catastrophe. He is eager to not let the crash happen during his watch:

President Donald Trump said Wednesday that he was motivated to finalize the memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Iran to prevent “economic catastrophe” if the war was not resolved soon.

“So rather than possibly going into a depression, rather than having your favorite president be Herbert Hoover, he was always the one I didn’t want to be,” Trump said of the 31st president whose policies are often blamed for starting the Great Depression.

“I didn’t want to see economic catastrophe. If you kept this going, that could have happened. But all I know is, every time we talked about the possibility of peace, the stock market shot up like a rocket ship,” Trump said during a press conference Wednesday on the sidelines of the G7 Summit in Évian, France.

This confirms that Iran is currently in an extremely strong negotiation position.

The Memorandum of Understanding stipulates among other things a ceasefire in Lebanon between Israel and Hizbullah as well as a retreat of Israeli forces from sovereign Lebanese territory. Israel, which recently extended the occupied territory in south Lebanon, does not want to stop the war or retreat from it.

Last night Israeli forces tried to capture a controlling ridge near the town of Nabatieh. Hizbullah managed to trap and kill four of IDF soldiers. Five others were wounded. The Israeli forces responded with heavy bombardments.

Another ceasefire in Lebanon announced for 14:00 UTC today was broken within minutes.

Today, after having allowed traffic through the Strait of Hormuz over the last 24 hours, Iran announced that the Strait will again be closed until Israel withdraws from Lebanon.

The Israeli Minister of War Israel Katz boasted today that it had completely obliterated the first line of Lebanese villages. National Security Minister Ben Gvir demanded that “All of Lebanon must burn!”:

Enough with the ping-pong. In the Middle East, you don’t win with measured responses and restraint—you need to go berserk. To obliterate. To crush the terror.

These people are lunatics. It is hight time for the rest of the world to apply Ben Gvir’s devised attitude and methods to his own deranged ideology and country.

Trump is in a pickle. He knows that oil reserves are running out. He knows that the economy will crash if the Strait of Hormuz stays closed. He knows that he will have to rein in Israel to avoid becoming responsible for a global recession.

Given that the Israeli government is determined to stay its course Trump will need to apply the harshest pressure available to him.

How can he do this when Congress, including the members of his own party, is owned by the Zionist lobby and still dreams of defeating “the Ajatollahs”?

As commander in chief Trump can order all U.S. air defenses in the Middle East to stand down – to not defend Israel – should Iran (on silent request from the U.S.?) fire another barrage of missiles against that country.

That would be a lecture Ben Gvir and other Zionist war criminals would take long to forget.

To “rein in Israel” the US can stop supplying them with weapons and money.
How difficult can that be?

Right now, it looks to me like Netanyahu wants to test Trump’s limits. So, for now, he’ll keep going—albeit in a more measured way.

We see recent news about an agreed upon ceasefire between the IOF and Hezbollah. But is this not just a necessary step for a IOF full withdrawal?
Making it less complicated for the IOF to leave is also in Lebanon’s interest.
Agreeing to the ceasefire even before the IOF has left was the right move for Hezbollah, don’t you think?

as long as the US keeps throwing all its money and ‘affection’ at Jizrael, this will continue.
and, the Epstein files are not holding Trump back – being executed is!  the Jizraelis are the ones who want the files hidden.   maybe Ben Gvir is threatening Trump’s “women and children” too.

I think there will be no agreement between Iran and USA. It’s just a game. Iranians know very well that they cannot trust US. But it is not about this. Iran pretended to accept an agreement, but it cannot be implemented, due to Israel and Hezbollah. The main objective is to keep US blocked in the Middle East, until it really capitulates. The trap is still working. Russia, China and Iran will not let US to escape so easily.

We also need to think about the suffering people there; Iran is facing massive problems. A “time-out” or “breather” would probably be welcome there as well. So, 30 to 60 days of relative calm.

“Lunatics” is too soft a descriptive term for bloodthirsty Zionists who merit being called Genocidalists and death by hanging for their many crimes. I do understand the editorial limitations German law puts on our host, while within the Outlaw US Empire such truths are sidelined as anti-semite bullshit–Zionists are the #1 antisemites on the planet.

IMO, closing Hormuz as economic pressure on Trump won’t do the job as the Zionists don’t give a damn about anyone but themselves. And that means they will need to be physically very heavily punished to force them to change their ways. And by that, I mean ultra heavy bombardment of Occupied Palestine along its Lebanese border to destroy Zionist troops, and total destruction of Haifa harbor and all facilities there along with all other harbor facilities to eliminate Zionist imports. Perhaps the #1 measure that must be taken is the severing of all oil pipeline shipments by external actors that Trump ought to pressure in concert with Russia and China. The only language Zionist barbarians understand is that of force, and it must be applied to them massively.

Today, after having allowed traffic through the Strait of Hormuz over the last 24 hours, Iran announced that the Strait will again be closed until Israel withdraws from Lebanon.

Iran plays Charlie Brown’s football with Trump once again. They were supposed to re-open the strait in exchange for the ceasefire in the first place. Trump should have resumed bombing as soon as they did that, but he endured the salami-slice and has ever since. He may very well demand that Israel withdraw from Lebanon, and he will once again have given up something tangible for worthless Iranian words. And then Iran will close the strait again. Trump should not have lifted his own blockade until all of the hostage ships were out of the gulf.
His “stock market” comments are embarrassing. The problem with having a short-sighted merchant as prince. He has Iran on a rope, their navy and airforce destroyed, their leadership killed twice over, their economy in free-fall, and Hezbollah getting wrecked very badly in Lebanon, and he still allows Iran to act like they hold the cards, because he cares more about imaginary numbers on ticker-tape than about tangible things.
A bright side of this is that Vance will, deservedly, take the heat, which may cost him 2028. Vance had better be telling the truth that the Iranians are promising more behind the scenes than they’ve actually agreed to in the MoU, but it seems doubtful.

Even Israelis know that Netanyahu’s Religious Zionists are from Bizzarro Land.

https://www.nzz.ch/english/israels-right-wing-extremists-fuel-tensions-in-the-midst-of-war-ld.1843053

The West Bank plays a special role in the ideology of the religious Zionist movement, but they are also stoking the fire in Lebanon. Ben-Gvir and Smotrich have long been calling for a preemptive strike against Hezbollah. Only recently, Finance Minister Smotrich said that Israel should once again occupy southern Lebanon, as it did after the 1982 war.
«The religious Zionists want a big war, a kind of Armageddon, which for them means a historically unique opportunity: to expel the Palestinians from the West Bank and the Gaza Strip and occupy the entire country,» says Eran Etzion, a former high-ranking official in the Israeli Foreign Ministry and a former member of the National Security Council.
«As crazy as it sounds, from the perspective of the religious Zionists, these are wonderful times in Israel,» says Etzion. There should be no illusions about the ideology of politicians like Smotrich and Ben-Gvir, he says. «They are as extreme as their Arab counterparts in the Islamic Jihad or the Islamic State.»
This not only has an impact on the war in Gaza and the conflict with the Palestinians, but also on a possible reconciliation with the Arab Gulf states, which began with the so-called Abraham Accords. «Even states that would theoretically want to enter into normal relations with Israel cannot do so because this government is constantly spitting in their faces with its actions and words,» Scheindlin says.

Britain’s best troops were always the Scots. Given the treatment Ireland and Scotland have received, you have to wonder why. Probably the same reason I joined the Air Farce. I needed a job and to get away from Dad. The American descendants of these Scotch Irish had been the core of the U.S. military until  Biden’s policies drove many of them away. So you just have to wonder how loyal is the current force? Is Trump digging his own grave? Will the military and the Secret  (notoriously corrupt) Service shield him from the psycho-zionists?

True, but do you think Trump doesn’t realize that by this point? Likewise, do you think he doesn’t realize that Iran has the ability to not just choke the Strait of Hormuz, but deal long-term damage to the region’s oil production? If Trump chooses to try and beat Iran into submission then it has to work this time, and quickly, or he wastes his military resources (needed for the coming war on China) and still gets his economic catastrophe. Do you think he really loves the zionists enough to sacrifice like that for them? I don’t see it.

It would be anti-Semitic to stop supplying weapons and funds to Israel, advancing the regime goal of “increase worldwide anti-Semitism”

The funding crisis would trigger a “unity give”, preventing elections, advancing the regime goal of “prevent elections”.

Together these two would stop the Bibi trial, goal one of the regime.

Their only weakness is that this policy supports the Israeli left wing.

Whose nukes?

And that is maybe the main point, could israel deal away with any ambiguity and just nuke a smallish millitarysh target?

That would reply to Karlof (whom I respect) et al who ask for strikes that might endanger the continuity of the jewish state as such (e.g. Haifa harbour, pipelines, etc)

Now, both sides have deterrence, how far will they play it short of an existential threat?

Israel is betting iran will not go into armagedon for south lebanon, likewise, iran feels israel will not go full nuttyyahoo for a buffer of doubtful utility.

And trump is left hanging to dry, not that oil really pisses him off, I still say the closed ormuz status quo  is “good” against china (short of a full deal/no sanctions that would allow iran to sell to other buyers)

Markets/depressions now are not as dependent on oil, iran scared trump with the spaceX/Xai threat, that was the fulcrum, the rest screws ROW, not us….

There’s nothing about a ceasefire between Hezbollah and the Zionists at Al-Mayadeen, not even on its breaking news feed. The Reuters report I saw at RT is based on the usual anonymous sources. Meanwhile, Hezbollah Secretary-General Sheikh Naim Qassem has said many things as reported by Al-Mayadeen including, “There is clear Israeli aggression, so why is it not being confronted?”

IMO, Trump loathes having to do/face difficult choices and is most likely to back-peddle much of what he’s said recently while the rest of his Gang continues to lie profusely and promote the victory narrative which is the polar opposite of reality.

Posted by: karlof1 | Jun 19 2026 17:07 utc | 33

Possibly it would be wiser for Iran to have peace agreement with the Great Satan, not including Lebanon and fight the Small Saten separately . Otherwise, they have both to deal with.
Anyway, if the oil crisis continues, that’s good.  Unrests, femin and population extermination – final outcome. So be it.

I can not see Trump, a goyim, placing any restrictions on the rule of Israelis/Israeli-americans over the US.  The only hope is that Israelis/Israeli-americans enjoy their uppermost-class-status enough to want to avoid turning the US into a another Jonestown…er..ah..Masada.  And given the history of these people…let’s hope they put enough sugar into the Kool-Aid to cut that acrid/bitter taste of cyanide.  I’m sure their man Fauci can cook something with Moderna or, perhaps I’ve got it wrong, perhaps they’ll run us all off a cliff 🤸 just for $#!ts and giggles🤣.

Let us assume he refuses to go nuclear, what more can he do than has not already been done?Posted by: William Gruff | Jun 19 2026 16:35 utc | 20
What he has done already has been extremely effective. The threat of “bridge and powerplant day” caused the Iranians to cave to the first ceasefire. The blockade has wrecked Iran’s economy and made them cave to the MoU and implicitly permanent nuclear disarmament. Lebanon is another card- Iran’s proxies are getting their asses kicked there, which is why Iran is so desperate to extend the ceasefire to cover Lebanon. To save their proxies, so that they can still exist as a weapon against the US in the future.

Trump’s logic is that an intact and US-friendly Iran is much preferable to a wrecked and hostile Iran. The problem is that Iran is demonstrating that they don’t want to be friendly to the US, and they just want to be better positioned for the next war.

The Iranians are thinking, “we won’t have a nuclear weapon for X years anyway, and the next war will happen before then. So let’s give up the nuclear program in exchange for keeping our reamaining proxies and ballistic missiles intact, which we could actually use in the next war”.

Was this the plan all along?  It almost sounds like an engineered resumption of war.  With the US using the refusal of Israel to stop bombing and its invasion of Lebanon as an excuse.

Trump can say, “We really, really tried.  But Iran can’t agree to anything.”

Posted by: Belle | Jun 19 2026 17:22 utc | 41

This will end when Occupied Palestine has been turned into ashes. All other possibilities are just wishful thinking.
Extreme times calls for extreme measures.
So First, Hezbollah needs to be given surface to air missiles. Israeli Air Force needs to be neutralized. Then, its nuclear stock pile has to be destroyed.
Jewish funding needs to be destroyed. In US, City of London, Basel, etc. Flow of oil has to be halted at the source. Baku has to be hit.  Then comes desalination plants in Israel.
After that, Israel can be invaded in matter of days, not even weeks. And this has to be a global effort so there is no finger pointing by these criminals. Let’s make this country 110. We can.

Yes, Iran has chosen to be very selective in what it targets inside Occupied Palestine for what’re likely a variety of reasons, one of which is nukes as you mentioned. In that realm, we have what are to us the unknown assurances given to Iran and warnings made to Zionists about their use over the years going back to Patrushev’s visit in 2022 where he reputedly said Iran was under Russia’s nuclear umbrella, a message that was also supposedly shared with Team Biden. IMO, Araghchi is 100% correct about Zionism being a threat to Humanity. Ben-Gvir would have fit perfectly within Hitler’s Plan Ost circle, and he’s not the only one. And the Outlaw US Empire has some who are just as terrible and close to power.

Zionists are the worst imaginable Bond Villain, and some have been portrayed as having veery similar traits regarding nuke use. So, what should be done? Cower in fear of their possible use of nukes or removing that fear by removing the Zionist genocidalists? The latter solution will be tough because roughly 8 million Zionists are members of their Death Cult–something that’s many orders of magnitude more dangerous to Humanity than Communism ever was.

b is so very correct in his article…….Gvir, Katz, Smotrich and Bibi are absolutely crazed homicidal maniacs, basically holding the world hostage in order to satisfy a ‘blood lust’ for October 7th (really any provocation will due for these war criminals), and extend their radical agenda to exterminate the Palestinian and Lebanese people as the first order toward Greater Israel.

They now have DJT in a bind.  They are deliberately, with forethought, undermining his Peace Deal by continuing to violate the ceasefire in Lebanon and refusing to withdraw from the area south of Latani River.

DJT desperately desires the oil to flow again through the straits, but by refusing, Israel is now requiring Iran to halt all traffic again.  The MOU clearly requires a ceasefire and complete IDF withdrawal from Lebanon, and Iran will come hell or high water, stick to that demand.

The proposed MOU signing postponement in Geneva, was in fact a result of Israeli non compliance.

The next step is up to DJT.  Does he have the intestinal fortitude to compel the crazed War Cabinet in occupied Lod to fully comply with the MOU?  Stay tuned sports fans……..

– “Iranian MP, Malek Shariati, told Raja News:

Along with the SNSC’s finalizing the proposal for the 14-clause MoU, a 6-point text was also sent by Pezeshkian to the Leader.

This 6-clause text concerns Iran’s planned counter measures, proportionate and corresponding actions to possible US breaches of its commitments & MoU implementation.

Since the leader’s message (yesterday) also refers to the necessity of counter measures (during non-compliant) being fulfilled, it’s necessary that the memorandum’s annexes also be published.”

Experts, MPs, and ordinary people are calling on the SNSC members who approved the MoU (incl. Pezeshkian, Araghchi, Ghalibaf, and others) to respond to the breach of the MoU, namely the attacks on Lebanon.”

The site owner’s musing becomes immaterial if Congress succeeds in its Gleichschaltung of the US armed forces into those of the Zionazi entity.

One more time, and at risk of one of your TDS denunciations: I don’t see how Trump has a choice in the matter. Congress will react — is already reacting — furiously and can destroy what’s left of his presidency, and continued refusal to toe the Zionazi line could prove fatal in a very nonmetaphorical sense.

All he has left, I believe, is a desperate (and almost certainly doomed to failure) aggressive Hail Mary Pass.

Let’s see… (checks calendar)… Yup, Friday, right on schedule.
What number agreement declaration are we due for on Monday? I think it’s 41 or 42 by now.

Iran should teach Israel what “never again” really means….

Posted by: flyingcow | Jun 19 2026 17:41 utc | 54

The US doesn’t care that they have set in motion famine and economic collapse around the globe. Israel is a convenient excuse, two cheeks of the same arse. Brave effort from Iran but the devil still rules. I really see no reason for Iran not to finish off US ground presence in the region and to demolish Israel, they have the capability today, to delay merely strengthens their enemies.

Indeed. But it’s good to know you don’t sign on to that nonsense.

Posted by: malenkov | Jun 19 2026 17:53 utc | 58

It is clear that Israel now is a proxy for both the imperialists and the vassals even though not all the vassals approve of what the proxy does since there are plenty of Muslims in France for example.

But since there is apparently here no consensus about Israel being a protection racket where the nastier the proxy is the more it is rewarded, the debate is instead exactly like the imperialists want it.

Lets focus on how nasty the proxy is and lets contemplate how satisfying it will be to see them crushed. Many of you are good pupils in the imperialists school.

I fully realise that there is human suffering out there but I cant take this debate seriously. The imperialists are successfully F-ing with your minds.

Trump is compromised.
The MOU is worthless.
The Israelis aren’t controlled by anything the US threatens because they know they own the political system there  currently.
Until that changes.
The destruction continues.

Sure, the dembots and other Establishment lackeys of the zionists want to “Trump-proof” this war too, but the US military has not been put under direct zionist control yet and will not be for some time. How long can the zionist entity hold out if the US isn’t standing at their back anymore? I’d put their ability to hang on in the days, and not a whole lot of them.

The very good reason is that they can’t. Iran’s capabilities have been so degraded and dispersed that they are only a serious threat to unarmed oil tankers.

Posted by: catdog | Jun 19 2026 17:59 utc | 62

Which do you think he wants to avoid more, being responsible for the worst economic crash in modern history (if not all history) or being the guy who “betrayed” the zionists? I don’t think there is any comparison.

Oh, and I should’ve added that Trump has so far displayed little interest in the economic well-being of Joe Sixpack. To refer to just one recent comment of his: inflation doesn’t seem to bother him.

A ceasefire Iran accepted, because the complete destruction of Iran is a suboptimal outcome for both sides. The problem is that Trump seems to care more about keeping Iran as a functional state than the Iranians themselves do.

Thanks for the posting b

This is what part of a MAD contextualized surrender looks like and while it may be a false start it does represent a rip in the God Of Mammon curtain that will be hard to repair.

A thought came to me about the Epstein files……exposure of the perps would also then expose fully the structure built to compromise people and then manipulate them into positions of power, eh?

I think we may be in my civilization war, eh?

Another rip in the curtain is Ukraine/Russia and then comes China who will rip the curtain off entirely…….socially orgasmic!

We can speak of the U.S. applying pressure tactics all we want to keep MOU progressing for regional peace.

But as with Gaza,  all the other GCC nations, Turkey ect that could also seriously squeeze the apartheid genocide nation to submit but do nothing.

The MOU was a regional test as well.

The Shia Crest has no national boundaries or national loyalty.

This is the end of the colonial rule.
People can call it sectarian or whatever,  but it exists,  the resistance (largely Shia) and all others,  the ME vaunted as sectarian differences,  when it really comes down to resistance vs. subjugated.

This is the last chance cafe’…either this decolonization happens orderly, slowly & civilly, as being attempted now…. Or by next summer (earlier?) it’s a bloodbath of epic proportions where the Shia Cresent flag is raised,  their strength bolstered,  their warriors plentiful, that will force the regions decolonization.

It isn’t Israel/US vs Iran with Israel as spoiler.
Its a grip tight colonial rule that will not let go without force.  Just my opinion.

“Iranian Army Soldier affirms they are in control of the Strait of Hormoz, not the gentlemen in suits and ties in Tehran or Washington.

He says: “Behind me is the Strait of Hormoz: The closest point to the mouth of the strait. This is our Persian Gulf. We are still here, in 55 degree humid heat, standing with our flesh, blood, and soul, far from our wives and children, and we will never abandon this place.”

He bravely says: “We are the ones who decide who passes through here, not the suit-wearers in Tehran sitting under air conditioners, and not those in Washington. We are here, and we say who goes and who comes.”

He says they will not let the blood of fallen comrades be wasted, urges people to stay in the streets, and promises that as long as the people don’t give up, they won’t abandon the Strait either.”

1) Sequester/prohibit AIPAC’s US operations, donations, and foreign agent activities in the US.
2) Cut off all funding and arms deliveries to Israehel, shut down all Persian Gulf bases, prosecute the war criminals per Nuremberg 2.0 and broadcast live.

Trump knew full well that Israel would violate the MOU within minutes.   This is Trump trying to shift blame for the coming economic catastrophe he is responsible for to Bibi.   IMHO that is not going to work.   This is all on Trump as he will not put Israel in its’ place.   He will be remembered as a far worse president than Hoover.

Q: Can you prevent Israel’s attack on Lebanon?

That gives a whole new meaning to the word Congress, if they are all  so completely  kompromatted by Israel, that none of them can stop a Depression descending on the Western world.

Stygian Stable Orgy  might be a more accurate description for the US Congress, than Lawmakers.

Posted by: Giyane | Jun 19 2026 19:05 utc | 93

No political power exists in the US able to stop subsidy of Israeli aggression and commitment of atrocities. The US oversaw a genocide in Gaza without any consequences to deliveries of arms or changes to the policies supporting Israel’s intentions to kill anyone anywhere. The only way Congress will ever attempt to legitimately remove Trump from the presidency is if Trump withholds arms deliveries and ends US air defenses over Israel.
An example of how well Israel has captured the identity of American support was broadcast on PBS Newshour last night with an ‘up close and personal’ report of an Israeli captain wounded recently in Lebanon. Captain Micha has an English accent. The report does not say if he is an immigrant to Israel, nor did it contain any condemnation of his role in the illegal occupation and destruction of villages and towns in Lebanon.

It is about to get worse.

The Israeli extremists now have their “Red Heifer”, born in Israel, that they claim is necessary for them to sacrify to “Purify” (destroy) Al Aqsa, the Dome on the Rock.

Note that Christian chuches and shrines in Lebanon are targeted as well as any other villages or people in order to break the “ceasefires”. Trump can’t “command” religious fanatics so I don’t expect any compliance with what he might want..

The average age expectancy of Palestinians in Gaza has fallen from 75 to 35 years. What does that tell you about the horrendous conditions inflicted by an Apartheid State apparatus?

Showed text of MOU to several Americans this morning. They vigorously denied Trump had signed any such thing. I he had it would be in the news. And if Iran is so foolish as to believe a surrender was signed, they deserve what is coming, good and hard.

Israel and/or US losing just does not compute for them. Iran is the bad guy period. And the bad guys always lose.
There is no way at all to communicate with Americans except a 4×4 hitting them hard in the face. And then you likely have to switch to an 8×8 to make sure they understand.

Triggered the memory of a short story – “The Evil Bomb”.
A scientist, in the service of humanity, invented a bomb that only kills Evil People.
The scientist was reluctant to set off the bomb as he wasn’t sure if he himself would be judged as evil for setting off the bomb.
Finally, he said, “screw it”, and set off the Evil Bomb.
You can guess the ending…a recently returned Jesus looked out on a barren landscape, being the only survivor of the Evil Bomb.
