War On Iran: After Israel Threatened Beirut Iran Announced To Further Reduce Global Oil Supplies

The Israeli government, pushed by its Zionazis and with the support of the White House, has announced that it will attack the Dahiyeh suburb of Beirut. Dahiyeh is normal civil neighborhood which is claimed to have a Shia majority with sympathies for Hizbullah.

Israel says it will renew strikes on Hezbollah in Beirut after lobbying for US green lightTimes of Israel

Israel announced Monday morning that it would renew strikes on Hezbollah’s stronghold in southern Beirut, after significantly curtailing attacks on the Lebanese capital for weeks at the request of US President Donald Trump’s administration, …

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Israel Katz said in a joint statement that they had instructed the Israel Defense Forces to strike Hezbollah targets in Beirut’s southern suburbs.

Reports had earlier said Israel was lobbying the US to grant permission to resume massive strikes on the terror group’s stronghold, and that an American official had hinted that such a green light could be coming.

Lebanon is part of the crumbling ceasefire between the U.S. and Iran.

Iran’s foreign minister warned of the consequences of such a severe breach of the ceasefire:

Seyed Abbas Araghchi @araghchi – 11:04 UTC · Jun 1, 2026

For immediate attention:

The ceasefire between Iran and the US is unequivocally a ceasefire on all fronts, including in Lebanon.

Its violation on one front is a violation of the ceasefire on all fronts.

The US and Israel are responsible for the consequences of any violation.

In reaction to the Israeli announcement Iran has stopped all negotiations and threatened to respond in kind.

Hamidreza Azizi @HamidRezaAz – 13:28 UTC · Jun 1, 2026

Tasnim News Agency – affiliated with the IRGC – reports that #Iran’s negotiating team is suspending the exchange of texts and messages with the US through mediator Pakistan, citing ongoing Israeli military operations in #Lebanon.

Tehran’s stated ground is that Lebanon was a precondition for any ceasefire arrangement, and that arrangement has now been violated. Iranian negotiators say talks will not resume until Israeli operations Lebanon stop and Israeli forces withdraw from occupied Lebanese territory.

The announcement also carries a threat: full closure of the Strait of Hormuz – after some incremental ease of transit over the past couple of weeks – and “activation of the Bab al-Mandab front” as punitive measures against Israel and its allies.

Lebanon matters inside Iran. The Iranian leadership can not ignore what is happening there.

Currently some 15% of the regular global oil supplies are blocked in the Strait of Hormuz. Circumventing that blockade through its east-west pipeline Saudi Arabia is currently exporting some 4-5 million barrels per day through its Red Sea harbor Yanbu and Bab el-Mandab.

bigger
I had earlier describe how the closure of Bab el Mandab would hurt shipping and oil supplies:

Marine Traffic shows a large number of Very Large Crude Carriers (VLCCs) near Yanbu waiting to be loaded. With the Red Sea exit to the south closed at the Bab al Mandeb (Gate of Tears) these carriers are, as I had predicted a month ago, caught in a trap. They are too big to escape north through the Suez Channel.

bigger

Should Iran, with the help of Ansrullah in Yemen, order the closure of Bab el Mandab the global oil supplies would sink by another 4-5%.

So far a buffer of oil supplies in storage had allowed for consumption of oil beyond the current supplies. While prices had increased there were no shortages. Exxon and other oil companies have recently warned that all available buffers are running empty.

We have not yet seen the demand destruction necessary to balance global oil supplies and consumption. The real market  crunch will come within the next few weeks. Prices for crude oil and its products are expected to increase sharply until demand has decreased by 15 to 20% and caught up with supplies.

Any closure of Bab el Mandab will result in even higher oil prices and less pump supplies.

It is high time for the White House to acknowledge that there is no way out but to make peace with Iran.

I’m not noticing publication of the decline of support for israel among the American voters. (As inflation and possibly hyperinflation destroy Americans financially the ability to supply israel with money/weapons will decline to nothing)

Also not mentioned is the israeli army is deficient by 17,000 troops TODAY and the israeli army is always going to become smaller and never become larger, so this is their last hoorah (aside from going Nuclear, which may not be possible, because modern nuclear weapons require complete rebuilding every 10 year because some ingredients decay)

This is false. VLCCs and ULCCs can travel the Suez canal. The problem is they cannot do so when (fully) loaded. Which is why they need to (partially) unload at Ain Sohkna and reload at a port a bit west of Alexandria. Those are the terminals of the SUMED pipeline (2 million barrels/day). Or they can use shuttle tankers to do the same.
Heck they offer discounts to VLCCs and ULCCs to incentivize them to use the canal.
The real problem is that most want to go south through the BaM since their usual customers are on the east side of Africa or in Asia and traveling around Africa (since even the Neo-Panamax caps out at ~800 000 barrels so no travel through there) adds 40 days or so of travel in addition to the time and cost it takes to pass through the Suez canal. And that is in addition to about 1.5 million barrels going south through the canal.

The USA and Israel want a fake ceasefire, where they get to escalate against Gaza, Lebanon and the West Bank while “defensively” attacking Iran. Iran already showed them that the latter will be answered in kind, and is now showing them that the former will result in their (and Western in general) economic devastation. The US MUST get off the pot within a week or two maximum, and it cannot afford to shit (economic depression and the destruction of Israeli and Gulf infrastructure). The US oligarchy and their courtiers, and their Israeli equivalents, are learning that this enemy will not allow their usual games. Russia and China (massively expanded clean energy sales) are laughing all the way to the bank.

According to Israeli reports, Netanyahu is currently on a phone call with Trump. The White House and its war planners are incapable of acknowledging that peace with Iran is the way out of the debacle constriction of oil supplies has created for the US and world economy. A new round of bombings is the only way they know how to react to resistance. Israel’s escalation of mass murder in Lebanon should convince Ansarullah to resume its attacks on shipping in the Red Sea. A welcome addition to the struggle. Other nations in the region should issue cease and desist orders to Israel and threaten to join the Axis of Resistance is assaults on Lebanon continue. Turkey and Egypt are the most salient, and should begin sanctions and blockades of trade bound for Israel through the choke points they control. They should, but they will not. The governments throughout West Asia are thoroughly corrupted, which makes what Iran, Hezbollah, and Ansarullah so unique with their courage. A courage which should inspire the people throughout the region to turn on their despots and Israel.

Anyone looking objectively at this farrago must have realised that the US plan to monopolise global energy sources is hitting the stops everywhere except Cuba, long known for its immense oil reserves. But equally everyone should be aware that Israeli fascism is a quasi-religious cult, far beyond rational negotiation. The Zionists will not change their behaviour because it is based on a collective psychosis (I suggest Munchausen Syndrome) which has removed the superego from Israeli “normal” behaviour. In the kingdom of the blind, the one-eyed man is a dangerous terrorist. Assumptions that Israeli Zionists share any overarching morality or are controlled in any way by the US are simply unworkable.

The US shares and even inspires much of this psychosis but without the pre-existing element of victimization. It therefore must turn every encounter into an outrage and threat. Not so much Munchausen as paranoid psychosis. If there was no US Holocaust, it must have been because the godless injuns were pre-emptively eliminated. The march of Manifest Destiny continues with Eretz Ysrael, the only good injun is a dead Arab.
Even if Trump is removed, the damage to US and Western interests will continue. Unlike Israel, it can be economically hurt enough to change course. That is unlikely. The only pain in the US is proletarian. The decision makers profit from failure, a bipartisan spivery.  The only problem for them is a shortage of controllable peasants on the road to a lethal neofeudalism.
Iran, Russia and China appear to recognize that diplomacy is irrelevant. Every agreement or treaty is expedient puffery with no substance. The forms and protocols are followed without honesty on one hand or trust on the other. Winning or losing are no longer the attributes of nations, they are the attributes of class. Is the US winning? For some citizens, yes. For most, the US is a quagmire. It follows that there is little impetus for peace in the West. There is no point debating about who will win in Ukraine, Iran or Lebanon – it will be decided empirically. The consequences are unthinkable, but that is a problem the sane always have when trying to make sense of insanity.

There is an established protocol for forming any National Commission of Inquiry and not just for Oct 7th.Netanyahu wants to change the rules, big surprise. And now, apparently, there are two warring factions in Israel doing a tug of war about the protocol. So, the National Commission of Inquiry over Oct 7th ain’t happening anytime soon.

[Attached to evacuation order]

“We announce to the settlers in northern occupied Palestine that the area specified in the attached map, which includes the Upper Galilee, the Lower Galilee, the Golan, and Haifa, has, as of this moment, become a closed military zone. If your criminal leaders target the southern suburbs of Beirut or the city of Beirut, this area will be a target for attacks by the Iranian armed forces.

We say to the honorable Palestinian people: The time has come to restore your land. Our fire is at your service. The departure of settlers from the occupied territories may constitute a prelude to your return to it

Immediate evacuation order

The residents of the settlements in northern occupied Palestine were informed that the area marked on the attached map, which includes the Upper Galilee, the Lower Galilee, the Golan Heights and Haifa, is defined as a closed military zone from this moment. In the event that your criminal leaders attack the southern district of Beirut or the city of Beirut, this area will become a target for Iran’s armed forces.

And to the honorable Palestinian people we say: the time has come to return your land. Our fire is at your service. The departure of the settlers from the occupied territories may be a preliminary step to your return to it”

Outlaw US Empire Neocons and Zionists scream Finish The Job!! IMO, Iran’s been listening and that’s what it intends to do –finish the Zionist Entity. The promise to close the straits means nothing to Zionists or Neocons since they see themselves as immune to any economic effects that will cause, so they will continue to bomb Lebanon in a direct challenge to Iran, who so far has only counterattacked to direct attacks against it.

Alastair Crooke’s SCF essay today where in its final third he explores China’s latest moves which is much more than what he said in his short chat with Judge Nap:

China is responding to Trump not with sanctions, nor with missiles. It is doing something far more precise: They are exerting counter pressures back at the U.S. economy, and are doing this by cutting money flows into the dollar sphere in reaction to the U.S. attempt to grossly widen global dollar use.

Both the U.S. Genius and the Clarity Acts are contrived to suck out retail holders of local overseas currencies from their positions through inducing them to switch into crypto tokens denominated in dollars and backed by U.S. Treasuries. If successful, this would both widen the U.S. dollar reach and provide a new source of demand for U.S. debt. Similarly (under the Clarity Act), investors looking to hold assets could be swapped out of regular U.S. stocks and bonds into digital tokens, via a digitised distributed ledger system.

In short, the U.S. aims to scoop up as much overseas currency as it can to insert into U.S. markets via crypto – (effectively swapping the declining Petro-dollar for a substitute Crypto dollar hegemony that would then generate the dollar demand necessary to keep the U.S. bond market from failing).

So, China is countering by going after something more sensitive – the flow of Chinese retail money going into American stocks and bonds. Chinese authorities have cracked down hard on Hong Kong brokerages that were helping Chinese mainland money flow into U.S. markets. As matters stand, Wall Street depends on foreign buyers of stocks to a significant extent, but Chinese savings dwarf those of all other countries. These will no longer be available. [My Emphasis]

Crooke goes on to cite Sean Foo and concludes thusly:

In sum, as more money flows into Chinese bonds, and the Yuan bond market deepens, Chinese borrowing costs stay low. So Beijing can fund itself cheaply and almost indefinitely – and thus can outlast the U.S. grand strategy to contain China by squeezing both its capital costs and its energy costs. [My Emphasis]

The major resisters are all pushing back at Trump and the Zionists. The blockage of critical resources and supply chains along with starving the dollar system of inputs will impair weapons production and further stress an already fragile financial system.

Trump called Netanyahu who pinky swears that he will not bomb Beirut, but Hebrew media is questioning whether that means Israel will stop all attacks or just Beirut and environs.  Trump also supposedly had a call with Hezbollah, but with whom, that is a big question.

So, now Trump posts that Iran talks are going well – guess the rise in oil prices made him jittery enough to call Netanyahu.

I get the impression that Iran now responds to Israels war in Lebanon with saying they will totally block Hormuz. Thus apparently not attack Israel? Not raining missiles? Then the reason must be to avoid heavy US/Israeli bombardments of Iran. That must mean that Iran does not have the capacity to shoot down enemy planes. Not high probability anyway. The planes are presumably unloading their projectiles from a large distance. But the conclusion is that despite having strong partners military support is limited. I am not critisising anybody I just try to understand.

It is an honor thing on calling targets.  There have been many false flags in the recent conflict, and Iran/allies can say, nah not us we didn’t call it out beforehand.  Quite a counterpoint to hit leaders while negotiating.  Kinda a difference between a drunk parent, that beats indiscriminately, and a responsible one that is if you do this, you get the paddle/belt, whatever you probably deserved.

Thank you for the information.

I would say that having an ICBM that can hit Washington would be of greater value, even if it isn’t nuclear.  Until the decision makers – or puppets following through on the decisions(whichever one prefers) face consequence for their actions, there will not be motivation to discourage irresponsible actions.  Currently such people make money off manipulated markets or kickbacks for arms sales.  Every murder overseas means $$$.

This dynamic needs to change.  Otherwise America will simply go from bad behavior to worse behavior.

“Nonsense. It is based on anglosaxon imperialist support!!! Many of you have a hard time realizing what a proxy is.” — Posted by: petergrfstrm | Jun 1 2026 17:28 utc | 35
US support is an enabler but the problem is more profound. Zionist behaviour has not changed qualitatively for nearly a century. I’m quite serious that it looks to me like collective Munchausen Syndrome, largely because of the developmental background and institutionalised auto-victimization which expresses itself as blowing away the Superego, the veneer of collective morality. Zionism is a history of deceit, but that began with lying to themselves about the purpose of Israel itself. On the mission to become regional hegemon, Zionists lie endlessly about being victimised while behaving much worse than animals. “Everything is legitimate”. Nothing is forbidden. This freedom from guilt and morality may help their role as proxy, but proxy is a role, a tool, not a limit or commitment. As the US begins to realise that a tool may turn in one’s hand, the role of proxy becomes more equivocal. I suspect the decision to treat Israel as a proxy may eventually prove a catastrophic error for Western leaders precisely because they continue to think that Zionism is fundamentally rational and can be manipulated accordingly, using the old standbys of bribery and intimidation. Zionism may be many things but rational is not one of them. A land of people with no conventional morality must be considered not merely inhumane but inhuman.

Tom Paine: I’ve often characterized Israelis in general, and a significant component of U.S.-based Jews  as a people with a cultural psychosis. Your explanation provides a lot of useful insight, and help us all to see our situation more clearly.

I’ll point out: there are a lot of non-Jewish predators, too. This supremacy and right-of-predator thinking infects the self-conception and therefore behavior of the British “rulers”, the Nazis, and the people that operate the US deep-state apparatus that manifests as forever wars and the plunder of the planet. These think alike, and that’s why their behavior is so much alike.

Most Westerners are – apparently – woefully ignorant of and therefore vulnerable to these predators. Tom Paine has helpfully pointed out why: we naive Westerners expect others to conform to our values and norms (honesty, charity, etc.) and the “others” just don’t. They’ve exempted themselves from conforming to our values, but forgot to tell us so.

Most of us still believe we’re all playing by the same rules. We’re not.

Back to international law.. and the issue of human obligation and human rights versus nation state obligations and rights.

I have seen no attempt by Iran, China, Russia to force into international law.. things that could protect humanity from the nation state system.  Human rights do not derive from moral rights, they don’t derive from a greater unseen power, they derive from survival instincts and quality of life concerns.

Human rights attach and remain attached to each person born until that persons joins or becomes a party to an organization that has a history of, or that adopts policy or that engages in processes or actions, that offend human rights.  Join the wrong group, or violate someone’s human rights to lose the protection of the UN-like human rights organization?  Human rights are inalienable, but enforceable protection from the UN-Like Human Rights organization should  depend on your dependencies and your commitments. Wars prove the oligarchs behind the national governments in the nation state are never going to allow the nations that own and control to be denied the right to kill humans, destroy infra structures that support and comfort human life.
Humanity must find a way to defend itself from the destructive intentions of those who own and control the nation state system.
Its time to design policy that can defend humanity from the destructive intentions of those who own, control or lead the nation state system and the institutions that such a system spawns.   Maybe one of the waring nations will condition their peace terms to include the tax on arms inventories or and the tax on import/export of arms tax and require as a condition of the peace settlement the formation of a UN-like human rights organization (see below).
1. Limit arms. Limit the arms nation states can possess, control, buy, steal, produce and inventory. 2. Impose a inventory tax.  Impose a tax on the top 1% (in assets and income) in every nation state.   The tax to be something like 5000% of the value of produced arms in nation state inventory and that amount to be portioned and accessed according assets and income of those who are in the top 1% of each nation state.
3. Impose a import/export tax. Tax all manufactures of goods and providers of services 2% of all of each nations exports or arms or war materials. The tax to be extracted from the manufacturers and service providers and the resultant funds to be handed over to the UN-like human rights association (not yet created).
4. Create a UN-like human rights organization. Without nation state involvement, the UN-like organization should be tasked to establish and define human rights, to codify and find ways to enforce human rights against the nation states in the nation state systems that infringe on human rights and to protect those  harmed by nation states in violation of human rights.
5. Use of Proceeds. The proceeds of both the tax on arms inventories and the tax on exports to become the property of the global UN-like human rights organization (not yet formed). 6.  Qualifying Membership. Membership in the UN-like organization to be automatic to all persons worldwide excluding persons affiliated with any group of whatever kind that either the arms inventory tax or the arms transfer  tax (export or import) applies to and excluding those affiliated to or employed by an entity listed on any stock exchange.
Lost Opportunities.  If humanity does not develop in principle what it needs to protect itself from the nation state system it will never be able to impose that protection on the nation state system.
Ridiculous Stab in the Dark. This is a feeble almost ridiculous stab in the dark, but at least its a start?   For example the contestants in the USReal Iran conflict could as part of their peace settlement, demand that some of these ideas be incorporated into the peace agreement?  But such ideas are not formulated, there is no framework, so the possible opportunity is lost. I apologize for the post, if the bar thinks this post in a thread about war is off topic.

OK, more on the oil price issue:

Yes, there are those strategic reserves that can be drained in order to manipulate the price. Which is apparently happening, at least in the case of the U.S.

Regarding price:

What is the “price of oil”, anyhow?
First of all, there are lots of different kinds of crude, each with their own “price” (which is of course a “paper price”).
Like currently:

  • WTI Crude: $92.31Brent Crude: $95.25Murban Crude: $94.78

(just the top 3 prices from the site I use, https://oilprice.com/oil-price-charts)

So how is “the price of oil” that’s often quoted calculated from all these prices? Average? mean?

And since these are paper prices, what are the actual prices that people (companies, countries) pay for a barrel of oil? Which may now include some of those Hormuz tolls, not necessarily factored into the “paper price”.

Are there any websites that give the current actual “price of oil” apart from the paper prices?

New ceasefire still not verified (what happened to the existing one ?). Occupation saying openly will continue bombing to Litani, missiles being posted by Hezballah now.

So far, there is no ceasefire.
