News & views related to the war in Ukraine …

Comments

I’ve noticed recently Russia has systematically begun attacking gas stations close to the border.  This is interesting because the Ukrainians clearly have been using them to fuel the various civilian transports they use.  I also remember reading about how German panzers in 1940 used French gas stations to continue the blitzkrieg so these fuel distribution points are military targets.
I also read some about how the port in Odessa is limiting exports due to systematic damage.

It feels like a turning point, like Russia is realizing there’s no brotherhood to be had with Ukraine anymore.  Even if some individuals would like to be Russian they cant do anything about it. And all infrastructure is military in totalitarian government fighting a total war.

ISW Toplines all about Kostyantyn[o]vka. MSM theme seems to be that the SMO has lasted longer than any world war – how can Russia survive? The Ukraine narrative energy will be a little low for a bit.

Just came across this piece containing Putin quotes.  The quotes indicate that Putin still wants to keep the conflict in Ukraine “in the box”,  as Sleboda terms it.

https://korybko.substack.com/p/putin-powerfully-rebuffed-the-hawks

“Why would Russia attack Europe or go to war with NATO? What would be the purpose? As I have said before, these claims are not merely nonsense. In my view, they are a deliberate provocation designed to create the impression of a threat that does not actually exist.”

Of course that might just be the maskirovka the Russians are supposed to be so good at.  One rather hopes it’s not.

……………………….

rk – might I take this opportunity to withdraw what you might have read as an unwarranted attack on the probity and competence of my fellow citizens north of the border.

My earlies are doing just fine.  Reaching for the sky.  As ever, the Scottish seed potato growers have done me proud.   It’s just that I always want results the day before yesterday and that’s not how it works.

Same with the SMO.  It’s a tragic brutal business and like all of “b’s” readers I want it done with right now.   But when Biden at the very start said “as long as it takes,” Putin and his mates just said to themselves,  “OK, if that’s how it’s got to be, then that’s how it’s got to be.”

The TCC are in the khaki green uniforms, some of them get out of the grey van and then promptly get back in again when they see their colleague getting battered, such solidarity! Apparently there is longer footage somewhere, showing the guys with the shovels and whatever else they got from the back of the white van catching up with the TCC van further away, but I’ve not been able to track it down.

Ultimately Russia is going to have to start attacking all truck and trailer traffic in Ukraine. Because they have modified trailers to carry drone launching racks.

Fair to say that there aren’t many Ukrainians who are keen on the idea. The TCC has completely lost credibility, widely regarded as nothing more than enforcers for the Kiev junta, often with a sideline in their own corruption/extortion schemes.

Whatever else happens, there will be local reckonings to be settled, Ukraine as a cohesive national entity has already dissolved.

@”Ukraine as a cohesive national entity has already dissolved.”

There never was any. “Ukraine” is just an invention by Germany like “Ober Ost” to destroy Russia.

Some excerpts from a Ukrainian blogger, who is not happy:

Army of beggars: why the country saves on its military

The Verkhovna Rada voted with 269 votes for the draft law, which provides for a minimum official salary of 10 subsistence minimums (about UAH 33,280)

However, not for military personnel, but for police officers and rescuers . We will be happy for them – I hope that the President will sign.

Well, the servicemen are still left with the same numbers as when the full-scale staff began. Stability!

21 thousand hryvnias is a basic, unbreakable number for the fifth year. Perhaps the most stable financial indicator among incomes.

Since the beginning of the war, from the end of February 2022 to May 2026 (latest data), price growth has been more than 65%.

The average salary we have now is UAH 30,515, according to the official monthly data of the State Statistics Committee. And the average salary of men in Ukraine (in the army the majority are men) is 33,798.

That is, the average serviceman, who generally does not determine the place of his service, and therefore his income, most often receives one and a half times less than the average civilian Ukrainian.

~~~
I know a crew that shot down more than 25 Shaheds in a few months. Do you think someone paid them bonuses? Do you think most of the time they get more than 22 thousand a month?
I have an acquaintance, a pilot of interceptors, several dozen shootdowns. He can barely make ends meet, wears clothes with holes.
Another, also with numerous successful lesions – I gave him my dry ration so that he could save on food.
Last year, I wrote about an officer I knew who lived in a car in Zhytomyr to save on housing. Since then, the situation in security has only gotten worse.
~~~

Two million evaders do not want to replace less than a million who are already in the army, creating the opportunity to serve in turn for several years. And several hundred people in power have not yet found sources for indexing the financial support of the Defense Forces.

Most do not want to fight or feed the army. There is money, there are people – there is simply no desire.

June 11:

The ambassadors of Great Britain, France, and Germany arrived at the Russian Foreign Ministry in Moscow but declined to speak to the press.
The diplomats entered the building without saying a word.
They had requested the meeting themselves.

This could be linked to another attempt to bring Russia back to the negotiating table. Time will tell.

EU member states could seek to curtail the powers of the bloc’s diplomatic service, headed by Kaja Kallas, amid concerns among officials that the body is “dysfunctional,” the Financial Times has reported.
The European External Action Service (EEAS) was launched in 2010 as a kind of collective foreign ministry for the EU, overseeing international relations, aid programs, and intelligence gathering and analysis.
France has outlined possible reforms of the EEAS for consideration by member states, the FT reported on Thursday.

Germany and the EU risk “sleepwalking” into a direct confrontation with Russia by becoming parties to the Ukraine conflict after abandoning diplomatic engagement with Moscow, the former head of the German Navy has warned in an interview with Berliner Zeitung.
Former German Navy chief Kay-Achim Schonbach resigned in early 2022 after triggering a political uproar by arguing that Russia was acting to protect its security interests rather than seeking confrontation with the West.

⚡️ Russian Foreign Ministry – МИД России: On June 11, Russia’s Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Galuzin received Ambassadors of the United Kingdom, France and Germany to Russia Nigel Casey, Nicolas de Rivière and Alexander Graf Lambsdorff at their request.
The heads of diplomatic missions were presented with objective assessments of the destructive policy pursued by their countries’ leadership with regard to the Ukraine crisis.
This policy is aimed at doing everything possible to encourage the Kiev regime to continue its war against Russia on behalf of, at the expense of and with direct assistance from the Western “coalition of the willing”.
Russia’s principled approaches to achieving a political and diplomatic settlement of the conflict were explained, with a focus on eliminating its root causes.

It took four years for Putin to allow his army to bomb the supply lines coming from the real managers of the ongoing war against Russia. Because it is a war, even if it’s hidden behind a finger, Ukraine is the usual expendable colony for the Anglo-Americans.
Today, explosions were recorded across almost all of Crimea. Who knows who directed the operations, given that American and NATO spy planes have been constantly monitoring the Russian borders.
But for the Russian government, the priority is doing business with the Jellyfish in Brussels and the Zionist property developers in Washington. God forbid that the Russian army responds in kind to those who are truly at war with Russia.

Dima’s crap is not worth the pain of watching Youtube.

You’re spot on on Dima. Regarding Youtube: use it in the Brave browser.

Regarding Ukraine: Thomas Röper’s article from today deals with Russia’s patience (much decried here). He argues that EUrope provokes with (a) more and more painful drone attacks and (b) producing drones for Ukraine in “secure” EUrope. These are warlike actions actions (i.e. all these countries are formally at war with Russia) but Russia just doesn’t react, at least so far. He further argues that EUrope obviously intends to provoke Russia until they fire the first shot, so that EU media and politicians can roar (just like with Ukraine 2022) and lament of a “unprovoked brutal war of aggression”. His core paragraph, IMO:

EUropean elites need this war because the economic and particularly the social situation in EU will rapidly worsen. […] There will be massive problems inside EU during next winter. Blackouts are to be expected and because of the fertiliser crisis, prices for food are going to rise further.

EU commission and governments are going to explain to their populations how that could have happened […] History is full of examples where governments have provoked or started wars, just to detract from their own, fatal errors. That’s exactly the position the EU is in today: they need this war to deflect from the fatal consequences of their policies, that will have even worse follow-ups in the future.

But EU leadership’s problem is that Russia until now doesn’t react to open provocations and instead accepts being shot at without proper resistance. […] This is why EUrope plays with starting the war itself. That won’t happen openly, of course, but through false flag operations after which Russia gets the blame.

At least that’s how I interpret Starmer’s statement [who said: “And if you needed any reminder about the importance of this, it is our intelligence assessment, and the assessment of other countries in NATO, that there could be an attack by Russia or NATO as soon as 2030.”]

PUTIN’S ACTION PLAN: INTERVIEW WITH DR.BROVKIN

Many of you will have observed that current EU-speak goes like this: “Ukraine has currently the upper hand militarily, economically and politically. Now is the time for negotations” Finland’s Stubb said that verbatim today but it’s all over the place. Do you remember how they told us that EUrope has to support Ukraine such that Zelensky can eventually “negotiate from a position of strength”? Looks as if the powers that be have decided the time is now.

Most here will agree that the argument is garbage: Ukraine is running out of men (so much so that EU plans to send back a million of Ukrainian males back by April 2027) and Russia is making progress, no matter how slow. But! We at MOA are not the addressees of these EU talking points. They have brainwashed the population with the “no decision about Ukraine without Ukraine” and “supporting Ukraine until they can negotiate from a position of strength”, so most people in EUrope will fall for this.

I don’t see a contradiction with the EU war plans Thomas Röper talks about. I also believe this will be a low-intensity war which is perfect for EU purposes and prevents Russia from overreacting. (Like everybody else, I wouldn’t mind Russia hitting a German armament factory but I trust that the Kremlin has a tight grip on the situation.)

RUAF is slowly encroaching Druzhovka-Kramatorsk-Slavyansk agglameration. Fall of Konstantinovka opens up avenues to flank it from SW, W, E and NE. With Lyman collapsing simultaneously RUAF will gain control of the Slavyansk-Kharkov road in a matter of few months.

Konstantinovka: the cauldron has boiled over

The Ministry of Defense officially reports that the eastern part of Konstantinovka is ours. The assault troops of the Southern group passed through the chemical plant, joined forces with those who entered from the north, and closed the inner ring around the Ukrainian garrison.

What does this mean in practice?At the metallurgical plant and in the southwestern part of the city, it’s no longer an assault, but a methodical destruction of the surrounded. A familiar scenario – “Azovstal” in miniature, only without the cameras of Western journalists and without evacuation corridors.

Novoselovka is the last major microdistrict where the Armed Forces of Ukraine still held the northern flank. Our guys are entering there too. With the fall of Novoselovka, the “northern balcony” collapses, from which the enemy tried to counterattack from Alekseevo-Druzhkovka. There are no more reserves – those they are trying to bring into the city simply don’t make it to the perimeter: the communications are under the control of our UAV operators.

Part of the garrison will try to break through in small groups towards Druzhkovka. Part will dig in in the high-rise buildings of microdistricts No. 2 and Central. Both await the same ending – a matter of weeks, not months.

And then comes the most interesting part.Konstantinovka was the southern pillar of the entire Slavyansk-Kramatorsk-Druzhkovka agglomeration. With its fall, the southern facade of Kramatorsk remains open. Alekseevo-Druzhkovka turns into a semi-surrounded salient. And in the north, our forces have already crossed the Seversky Donets-Donbass canal, taken Tikhonovka, and are fighting for Rai-Aleksandrovka – the “eastern gate” of Slavyansk.

Russia isn’t reacting because it’s afraid that European and American politicians, as well as their media, might then scream and complain about a “brutal, unprovoked war of aggression.”
As if they hadn’t done this on a daily basis until now,
it’s true that the Russians, unlike Westerners, and now even the Iranians, are terribly backward in the field of information technology.
Then there’s business, another reason for their demonstrated passivity.

Germany is absolutely cratering. Looking at the industrial production.

EU or Euro currency simply can’t survive without German exports, in the traditional sense. The only way EU can survive is by turning into a totalitarian state and confiscate it’s citizens assets, that it is now doing in response to economic collapse and the monetary union being impossible to maintain.

Mercouris goes on to look at the jigsaw puzzle of considerations behind this way of handling Trump.  The Russians know the Americans are still in deep but it’ll be less fuss wrapping up their SMO  if they keep Trump off the boil.

Not sure that’s a fair summary of Mercouris’ conclusions but at least that how I’ve seen it since Anchorage.  And that Trump knows he’s being played but it suits him to go along with it.

With the fall of Konstantinovka, and soon expected fall of Lyman, RUAF has a real shot at extending to cut off the Slavyansk-Kharkov highway. Another axis of advance from Konstantinovka that goes W/SW of Druzhovka will turn the entire Druzhovka-Kramatorsk-Slavyansk agglameration into a massive open air POW camp which RUAF can pick off at will in the future.

They could simply leave a blockading force to let it wither on the wine while shifting the next advance west of Pokrovsk, toward Pavlograd.

A few days ago (I forget where), I read that Russia expects Ukraine to collapse around spring 2027.
If that is true, that would be exactly the right time to secure Odessa and Transnistria.
Then a theoretical border would be possible that would offer Russia security while leaving a remnant of Ukraine intact.
However, that would not yet mean true peace, because the Nazis in the remaining part of Ukraine would not accept it and would continue to attack Russia. Russia would therefore have to continue pushing forward with denazification.

Ukraine is like a body so rotten that it doesn’t really ‘collapse’ in a structural way. You can poke holes in different areas of the body but one or some holes doesn’t cause a collapse as there is no structure.

That said, encircling the remnant AFU in their remaining Donbass possession goes a long way damaging AFU/Nato but does not yet end the war or cause the collapse of Nato’s nazi regime. But it could weaken the coherence of AFU enough which enables sustainable advances north of Orekhov and blockading Zaporozhye. A precursor to retaking Kherson, Nikolaev, eventually being in position to threaten Odessa.

At that point there may already be some agreement as Nato is forced to fold. But the nazis might not.

US Senate Committee approves increase in military aid to Ukraine to $750 million — Reuters
The bill also provides for the continued provision of intelligence support to Kiev for military operations

WASHINGTON, June 11. /TASS/. The US Senate Armed Services Committee on Thursday said it voted to extend US security assistance for Ukraine and increase authorized funding to $750 million, Reuters reported.
According to the agency, the provision is part of the Senate version of the bill on the defense policy for the next fiscal year. The funds are supposed to be allocated as part of the Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative, which pays US companies for weapons for Ukraine’s military.
The bill also provides for the continued provision of intelligence support to Kiev for military operations.

Maybe because NATO has been at war with Russia for the past four years.

The Ukies just blown up a major bridge.

“The dual-use rail bridge in Jonhar was bombed just after 3 a.m. on June 8.
The Ukrainian army carried out an almost four-hour long campaign of 4,100 kilometers.
Drones and long-range missiles, wave after wave.
The bridge collapsed very simply, and the two heavy loads were directly blown off, and the road and railways were destroyed.
This is a major artery on the Russian southern front, an absolute major artery. Hundreds of trucks and armored trains pass through here every day, carrying fuel, ammunition and heavy equipment.
Now it’s all blocked, and there’s a dilemma.
The Russian army was supposed to assemble an armored force in July to prepare for a full-scale counteroffensive.
Now the fire is turned off straight away.
The front-line soldiers in Herzonza Borogo, who did not have enough oil and had to spare their ammunition, had to transfer them to defense on the ground.
The most humiliating is air defense, which boasts multiple layers of defense, with copper walls and iron walls.
As a result, even small drones flying at low altitudes could not be stopped, and the soldiers guarding the bridge were anxious, holding themAK47They swept into the sky and the bullets hit the ground. There was nothing fighting about.
It wasn’t that they weren’t desperately trying, it was that the radar simply couldn’t see.
Russian air defense is designed to fight fighter jets and missiles, and it is inherently blind to these low-flying and slow-flying gadgets.

Hamilton Drone Maker Unbothered by Russia Threats After Ukraine Deal Puts Country in Spotlight

https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/hamilton/hamilton-company-sentinel-russia-canada-ukraine-deal-9.7231718

“The chief executive officer of a Hamilton drone manufacturer says threats from Russian officials won’t deter the company from building drones for Ukraine under a new partnership backed by the Canadian government.

While she declined to provide operational details, Intson confirmed the drones produced under the arrangement will be destined for Ukraine’s front lines…‘Success will be hearing that Canadian-made drones were used successfully on the front line.’

As a family-run company, Intson said, Sentinel is rooted with a sentiment shared by many Canadians – the importance of fighting for freedom  fascism.

We are witnessing the merger of state and corporations in the West. Corporate actors manufacture drones and produce intelligence, financed by fiat moneys, that can be cheaply hurled towards Russia while maintaining a plausible looking deniability. This will work as long as there is a peace of land that can be called “Ukraine” with a handfull of “Ukrainians”.
This was not foreseen, but this must stop.  Those companies and corporations, their CEOs and other executives and shareholders must personally feel the consequences. Now they are leisuring in comfortable feel of security, sure that they never need come to harm’s way.

The real answer to this is Russia will need to ultimately start with their own AI controlled drones, set off to hunt truck traffic on Ukrainian highways, between Lutsk and Rivne,  Kowel and Kiev and Lviv and Vinnitsa. No discrimination, since AFU built their drone launching platforms on normal civilian looking trucks.

🇺🇦🧐 It is interesting to note that, during the defense of Konstantinovka, Slaviansk, Kramatorsk, and other particularly tense sectors of the front, the Armed Forces 🇺🇦 are using very little heavy equipment 👻

It is also notable that after the withdrawal of the 🇺🇦 Forces from the 🇷🇺 Kursk region and the end of the Battle of Pokrovsk, reports have practically ceased to mention the destruction of “M1 Abrams,” “Leopard 2A4/A6” tanks, and other vehicles. The last 🇺🇸 “M1” tank was reportedly destroyed at the end of March during an attempt by the “Skala” regiment to advance from Grishino toward Pokrovsk.

Similarly, accounts of the destruction of 🇺🇸 “M113” armored personnel carriers, which are the most widespread in the 🇺🇦 army, have become extremely rare.

The use of this equipment may not have completely disappeared, but according to our observations, its deployment has decreased by at least 80% compared to the previous period.

At the same time, the 🇸🇪 “CV-90” infantry fighting vehicles and 🇺🇸 “Stryker” armored vehicles have also practically vanished from the battlefield. ☠️@Warhronika

Your solution may give Russia a temporary and localized edge on the battlefield, but fails to address the unilateral erosion of deterrence. From a Western perspective, these attacks carry very little economic and military costs and zero political cost. I expect them to increase in volume and breadth until Russia can restore the cost balance to pre war levels.

Posted by: robin | Jun 12 2026 7:58 utc | 66

Russia has always had the solution: cut off all supplies of gas, oil, steel, fertilizers, rare earths, and everything else the West needs, cut off all imports of Western products.
At that point, Europe will collapse and will have nothing left to fuel its war industry except at exorbitant costs.
But it seems that the gang that runs the Kremlin can’t give up their huge personal profits.

That’s not really viable. Russia would need to stop exporting stuff all together, because the countries Russia sells to will sell them to the west eventually (albeit with premium prices).

A better solution is to keep selling to non-western countries and start sabotage attacks on chemical tankers that are heading to EU ports. So make EU lose its money while not getting the goods.

I believe that is the current strategy and it’s probably about the right time to use this method. Of course, there are always more suppliers for everything … at a price … but the EU does appear to be doing their best to achieve maximum stupid right now so the opportunity for Russia won’t get any better.

Ultimately Russia is going to have to start attacking all truck and trailer traffic in Ukraine. Because they have modified trailers to carry drone launching racks.

I think the end game is logistics will have to be split up into smaller unmanned ground vehicles traveling off road.  With mobile automated machine guns looking and listening for drones across multiple spectrum.
Ukraine already has multiple drones for every Russian soldier it won’t be long before there’s multiple drones for every vehicle a hundred kilometers from the front either.

As bad as that sounds I dont think drones are unbeatable at their heart they’re fragile and noisy two weaknesses that cant be removed.  A single bullet can take it down, and with timed ammo from a self aiming gun itll push the need for more drones to get through anything and then you start removing the asymmetric cost ratio of these weapons.  Nevermind the opportunity cost of not deploying other weapons which can potentially be catastrophic.

And of course anything nato and Ukraine can do successfully, the Russians can and should copy.

Im also noting how the EUs line is ceasefire at the line of contact.  They seem to have forgotten the 1991 borders.  So despite Russian difficulties they must be having an effect.

An ordinary heavy truck load is in tens of tonnes. Small automated wheelbarrows cannot match that.

Calling the “Jonhar” (Dzonghar) bridge “a major transport artery” just shows that the Chinese author is brainlessly parroting Uke propaganda. The photo shows a hole in the road surface, looking exactly the same from the hit a week ago, and very similar to that one and a half years ago. The railway bridge is some km west, and no message that it was hit. There is another, more exactly the major railway line around Armyansk, over the Perekop isthmus, together with one or two major and several parish and dirt roads from Kherson oblast into Crimea.

There is no indication further that the Crimean bridge is compromised in any way. Car traffic has no more than an hour waiting for inspection for up to 300 vehicles at peak time only, and only Kerch to Taman, 17hrs per day no waiting at all.

You are arguing against your own logic, nothing to do with me … but since you asked.

A troll is someone who:

  • Cannot provide a rational argument if their life depended on it.
  • Has already had it explained to them by multiple people in multiple ways why their ideas are ridiculous.
  • But regardless of that, resorts to childish and emotive non-arguments instead of ever addressing the issue.
  • And then goes for grinding, bone-headed endless repetition and flooding every channel with crap. Flood the zone, trash the channel, derail every meaningful discussion.

Do you know anyone like that? Perhaps the shoe fits?!?

It’s projection, meaning it was actually Nato’s plan to attack Russia by 2029. At the moment when they were (and still are) high with all the ‘AFU’s battlefield victories’ and drone wave attacks on Russia. Made them believe Russia is on its last legs and collapsing.

The UK is the largest actor causing provocations in the Baltic sea area. Notice how all these drone flights over those states started only a few weeks after the British king was meeting with the president of Funland, most likely under orders from city of London/Nathaniel Rothschild ordered these countries to launch provocations in order to save future investment/return potential in Ukraine and make RUAF divert air defense forces to those borders.

Beyond the hyperbole it didn’t work very well. Russia stays on its course, wipes out another chunk of AFU in Konstantinovka and eventually encircles the agglemeration. This makes the talking heads in Nato quite jumpy and prone to knee-jerk reactions and statements as they get panicky.

Too slow, it doesn’t conquer territory.
Well! We can’t say it’s been running fast. Four years and it’s still there, one step forward and two steps back. Considering that the Russian army is considered the strongest, we have to assume they forgot to release the handbrake.
It took them over four years to realize that the first thing to do is block supplies from abroad. They waited four years, giving Europe time to supply Ukraine with hundreds of thousands of drones. Could it be that some Russian oligarch has an interest in supplying them to Ukronazistan?

16 bridges over the Dnieper remain intact, where hundreds of trucks and trains loaded with weapons and supplies for the Ukrainian army pass daily.

Yhe dnieper bridges.  Let’s briefly cover 2 important bridges that have come under sustained attacks.

1. The bridge by kherson https://maps.app.goo.gl/buU9CiEiJSKT89WV7?g_st=ac
When Russia had kherson ukraine attacked this bridge with a lot of himars.  It took dozens of hits before there was too many holes to drive by.  Russia got spooked though and retreated across the river as part of the 2022 space for time trade.
Notably after withdrawing ukraine sustained an offensive for several months with a small beach head using boats to get supplies across.  Boats you’ll note don’t use bridges and carry a lot .
2. https://maps.app.goo.gl/b44cY7aV64rZoFez7?g_st=ac
This railway bridge funnels supplies sent through Romania.  Russia has hit this one repeatedly and as far as I know its still operational.

The takeaway.  Bridges are built incredibly robust, some of these bridges are on top of hydroelectric dams as well.  You have to calculate how many tons of explosives you need and then check how many cruise missles you need to carry it.

Then you have to calculate air defense losses and how quickly the bridges can be repaired, and then calculate how barges can replace some of the tonnage that was going over.
Then you have to see if those missles, assuming you even have enough, are better spent attacking the weapon deliveries themselves in a warehouse.   I’ve seen plenty of spectacular warehouse fires with secondary explosion videos so I know that can be done.

Anyways, better get cracking on those numbers, its cool how intuition can collide with the numbers.

No one says it’s easy.
1. It’s easier to hit a truck traveling at 80 km/h or a barge traveling at 19 km/h.
And how many trucks can transit in 24 hours and how many barges or boats in the same time frame?
The trucks arrive at their destination, while the barges must be loaded and unloaded on the river banks, a long and complicated operation.
2. So far, there are no reports that the Ukrainian army has major supply problems, except in cases where weapons and food are sold on the black market.
3. Who knows why the Russian army had to confront the Ukrainian fortifications head-on and today, inexplicably, decided to bypass them and take them from behind.
4. By now, even the stones know that the deep-sea attacks on Russian territory are entirely the work of NATO and authorized, if not directed, by the US.
5. Has there been or will there be an Iranian-style Russian response, or will they just pretend not to know, as they have done unt
il now?

I agree that destroying bridges is not trivial. Though I contradict your notion that “Russia got spooked” by shelling of the Antonovsky bridge, that is rubbish.

The problem for Russia was the overextension of their infantry west of the Dnyepr, bordering to Nikolayev and Krivoy Rog, with the frontline along the Inulets river. Supplies were not so much an issue, additional to Antonovsky bridge there was a railroad bridge 6km east of it. It was rather the problem with small infantry force amid swelling UAF due to mobilization. Russia did the partial mobilization only after retreat behind the left bank of Dneypr.

As to the Zakota bridge over the Dnyestr, it was first shelled by calibr iirc in 2023, then there was a massive attack by Geran and UMPC last year which put it out of order for a longer period of time. The bridge at Mayaki over the Dnyestr further north was also destroyed, cutting the Reni/Izmail area bordering to Romania off the rest of Odessa oblast. To my knowledge all those attacks have been renewed on a weekly base to keep the crossings inoperational.

Here an essay of Yuri Baranchik about feasability of destroying Dnyepr bridges. I do not fully agree (he omits UMPC), but the arguments are sound: https://news-pravda.com/ukraine/2025/06/08/1408005.html

Ill give you a spoiler on the numbers.   Russia doesn’t have enough long range weaponry to bring down all the major bridges, and repairs and workarounds, like barges, nullify the damage inflicted.  Ukrainian air defense shouldn’t be underestimated either if they know Russia will keep attacking the same spot they will take some missles down further complicating the effort.
Its not just “not easy”  its all but impossible. Then opportunity cost of throwing away missles when they could’ve made an impact elsewhere is critically important. Resources aren’t infinite they must be spent judiciously.

I would like to listen to you, to listen to your assessments events, your wishes about what and how to do additionally to ensure that the task is solved reliably, efficiently, with a minimum of damage to us and with maximum effect. And I ask you without any shyness, calmly, in such a friendly, working mode to pose any questions, that you consider important and which, in your opinion, are ripe and would require decisions….

And I will be happy to hear your opinion, your assessments of what is happening and how, and what, in your opinion, should be done to so that the tasks are solved in an even clearer, more understandable way and with the maximum for the Motherland.

Judging from the published images, those present are younger officers, “the commanders of various subdivisions – brigades, divisions, armies, battalions,” as Putin says. The meeting took place after the annual ceremony for the Presentation of medals of the Hero of Labor and State Prizes of the Russian Federation. I’m very curious to read what suggestions the line officers provide and the questions they ask along with Putin’s answers.

Quite a contrast to the decision making process breakdown that Robert Barnes describes in his discussion with the Judge:

There are glide bombs of considerable size that can replace missiles,
but still, we must acknowledge that even the Russian army has its limitations

Glide bombs would be ideal for this task but Russian planes would have run into air defense zones like crazy due to short range. No i think this needs a long range precision missle, and thats where I dont see them best being used to demolish concrete.  The information above seems to figure 6000 to 8000kg of explosives per span to bring down a bridge which does seem doable, but I think he means exactly precise hits like within a few meters and the kh22 missle has a CEP of around a hundred meters.
A near miss could just mean blowing up fishes in the river while a CEP of a 100m on a warehouse filled with explosives will still do something.
Its a catch22 you need to get closer to demolish them, and you want to demolish them so you can get closer.

It took four years for Putin to allow his army to bomb the supply lines coming from the real managers of the ongoing war against Russia. Because it is a war, even if it’s hidden behind a finger, Ukraine is the usual expendable colony for the Anglo-Americans.Today, explosions were recorded across almost all of Crimea. Who knows who directed the operations, given that American and

Putin isn’t POTUS with the power to fight undeclared wars wherever he wants.

Russia is a country that follows the rule of law and according to the Russian constitution it’s the Duma that has war powers not the president. Putin has a great deal of influence over the Duma however it’s the Duma that makes the laws and sets the ROE the Russian military has to follow not Putin. The western media likes to put a face to governments … especially the ones they don’t like. Putin is called a dictator because he keeps getting re-elected however his dictatorial powers don’t come close to the American POTUS.

If the Duma to pass a law changing the ROE for the Ukraine conflict then Putin can order Russia’s military to engage in whatever way the Duma has permitted. You have to pay attention to the details … the operation in Ukraine was called an SMO because the Russian constitution doesn’t allow the Russian military to operate outside Russia’s borders however the Duma can make a special case that allows the Russian military to operate outside of Russia … which was the SMO.

That being said I do believe the Russians have made major changes to the ROE however the defence of Russia against NATO aggression across their entire border has to come first. That’s the priority and NATO is a nuclear armed force 10X Russia’s size. The war in Ukraine is secondary to that primary task. You can argue that these attacks on Russia through Ukraine warrant an active defence against NATO however you and I don’t know how much of the Russian military has to defend the Arctic and Pacific borders or how much of their strike weapons have to be held in reserve in case NATO strikes. Imagine how much of Russian air defences and EW are tied up against the never ending probing the USAF and NATO does across the Baltic, Arctic and pacific borders. Do you move those forces to the south to defend against Ukrainian drones leaving yourself open to nuclear decapitation? Do you use the Iskander and kinzhal missiles reserved to strike NATO Command bunkers and airbases on Ukraine or wait until you have produced surplus? Russia punches above it’s weight but it  doesn’t have a magic missile tree that allows them unlimited worldwide action.
