Id love to have a sarcastic rejoinder but these chucklefucks are going to drag us all to Hell. Enjoy your Sunday everyone. Posted by: Doctor Eleven | Jun 7 2026 14:23 utc | 2 Trump and reality having less and less to do with each other…A long strange trip is facing the American public… Posted by: pyrrhus | Jun 7 2026 14:30 utc | 3 – Journalist Suhaib Al-Masalma “Hebrew sources: Israel has implemented the recent agreement with the Lebanese government, according to the memorandum of the agreement that was recently signed in Washington (if Israeli territory is subjected to attacks, the Israeli side has the right to carry out attacks in the suburb, and without that, it does not have the right to attack Beirut)” [Note ‘ceasefire agreement’ afaik not presented to public officially] – Talk of ten GBU dropped on Beirut – Mehrdad Khalili “In an initial reading of the aggression on the southern suburb, the enemy talks about targeting an empty headquarters, and the attack occurred because of the symbolism of the place and not for a specific goal. If this is true, then today’s attack is the same thing that the enemy wanted to carry out a week ago and retreated due to an Iranian threat. What happened can be explained as a direct challenge to Iran in conjunction with sending a message through a Pakistani intermediary and Trump’s statements after the raids in which he publicly stated that Lebanon would not be included in any agreement with Iran. In light of the stagnation of diplomacy, Trump’s arrogance towards Tehran, the rejection of Iran’s demands at the negotiating table, and the raids on the suburbs, it seems that we are now at the closest moment to the return of war between Iran and America. Waiting for what Tehran will announce regarding what happened today.” – “Iranian newspaper Farhikhetkan this morning with the headline: Netanyahu’s office official in Beirut” [Note, all the above includes some speculation for now as journalists report first reactions and offer perspective. The various journalists are clear about this in their manner of writing. Posted by: Mark2 | Jun 7 2026 16:32 utc | 23 “Iranian Parliament Speaker Qalibaf: They are not committed to a ceasefire and do not believe in dialogue, and by showing through the naval blockade and violating the agreements related to Lebanon that they only understand the language of force. The naval blockade against the Iranian nation and the green light that America gave today to the Zionist regime turns American and regular bases and assets in the region into legitimate targets. The hand of our armed forces is extended, as it has always been.” Via Sohaib Al-Masalma Posted by: Ornot | Jun 7 2026 16:33 utc | 24 It appears that the US is more than willing to see its bases in GCC countries bombed as a price it is willing to pay to continue to degrade Iran. Trump will be more and more under pressure from the rest of the world, as long as the strait remains closed. Quite how the consequences of the closure will work out is not so clear, but I still don’t see how the US can compensate successfully. The strategic oil reserve is being run down fast. “Was” is the operative word. The question was “Why is Iran even in any negotiations at all?”. Posted by: Norwegian | Jun 7 2026 16:52 utc | 29 🇺🇸🏴☠️🇮🇱 Israel has crossed the line by trying to use espionage to determine the US position on 🇮🇷 Iran, reports the NYT, citing sources. It is noted that the Jewish state has intensified surveillance of high-ranking American officials, including Steve Whitkoff and Deputy Secretary of Defense Elbridge Colby. Earlier, the Pentagon raised the level of counterintelligence threat from Israel to critical. Posted by: Jo | Jun 7 2026 17:00 utc | 30 All good questions. That might suit the US (and company). By unincluding Lebanon in negotiations, the US has made sure there is no resolution regarding the strait. An (unlikely) peaceful resolution of the strait, would have been ‘truce’ and passage , according to Omani and Irani arrangement, to all vessels. That ‘truce’ would have had to include Lebanon (and Gaza), a regional ceasefire. Instead, they continue to invade Lebanon and Gaza, and enter naval (and territorial) conflict in Hormuz. The ‘ceasefire’ was to try to negotiate a ceasefire, obviously US terms are very different from those of Iran, are as good as unworkable. Meaning the US has been and is saying, either submit to our conditions or return to conflict. The alternative for Iran is to watch as Lebanon and Gaza get further taken over, to have to defend from more attrition attacks on defenses in Hormuz, and possibly attacks on command or nuclear infrastructure. Iran has its own standing and calculations, so I don’t say what it should do, just that it is being continuously pressured by US efforts at takeover and dominance. Much opinion is also that US gains so far from closure of Hormuz. That is questionable and especially into the future, and also depends what is meant by ‘US’ also. Posted by: Ornot | Jun 7 2026 17:19 utc | 38 Did Iran snatch defeat, from the jaws of victory . By stopping when it did Posted by: Laguerre | Jun 7 2026 17:19 utc | 39 Posted by: Chas | Jun 7 2026 16:03 utc | 17 Posted by: Chris Cosmos | Jun 7 2026 17:24 utc | 40 The goal is to take down Iran. That is the plan. And the plan will be followed without regard of what happens to the economies of the nations of the world. The real players are hidden from us. In the wise observation of this plan unfolding all the talking is distraction; watch the actions. In the end the world is in transformation into a different order. No one is in control. This is a struggle between personality and essence. Literally. If I were a betting man I would bet on essence winning. All the talking experts can do is surmise and waste our time. Watch the actions not the talking heads. These are interesting times. This is not a religious war as some want us to think. This is a spiritual war. The religious that think they know the ending are going to be very disappointed. Only God knows the ending. Posted by: Conrad Wareham | Jun 7 2026 17:24 utc | 41 Poisoning Wells ? Posted by: Jo | Jun 7 2026 17:38 utc | 46 🙂 Thank you, Iran, for remembering Palestine, Lebanon, and Yemen, and tying the peace talks to peace in the entire West Asia region. It is a moral stance whose sacrifice is worth being reminded of so we remain conscious of our own power in the face of tyranny. I may be but a wee bird and not Shia, but there is wisdom in the moral stance “every day is Karbala, every day is Ashura. 🙂 All it takes is for our goodness within to be not afraid. Posted by: arby | Jun 7 2026 18:41 utc | 60 @43 Laguerre “You mean you actually believe the Israeli and US propaganda!?” No, but you are distracted into opposite thinking by it maybe. Look at the ‘physical score card’, not what hasn’t been achieved or was unsuccessful. Simple example, Lebanon gives “Israel” freedom to act in Lebanon. Simple example, Gaza is half destroyed and large part occupied I could list many more. Iran has remained relatively intact up to now, but I am sure the US has further plans to destabilise it. To say it is losing is not going to change that trajectory. This isn’t a question of keeping moral, siding, or similar. The resistance are comitted and the battle is not decided. A civil war in Lebanon would suit “Israel” also, would allow a freer hand and would bring occupation aligned intervention. Not an enjoyable position for Iran to be in at all, and of course the US is keeping up pressure of all kind. Posted by: michaelj72 | Jun 7 2026 19:17 utc | 68 “Between 1967 and 1994, when the Israeli military directly administered the West Bank and Gaza, Israel collected all taxes on Palestinian imports and income itself, with no Palestinian body involved at any stage. The 1994 Paris Protocol did not end that control. It relabelled it, routing the same Israeli-collected revenue through the PA as an intermediary, while leaving the collection, and the power to suspend it, entirely in Israeli hands. What was presented as Palestinian fiscal autonomy was, in fact, the formalization of direct extraction. Israel has weaponized that arrangement ever since, withholding the revenue as political punishment. Now, a third party, the US president’s private so-called peace architecture, proposes to monetize the captured fiscal base on its own account in order to fund its institutional presence inside Gaza.” Posted by: jayc | Jun 7 2026 19:17 utc | 69 More on missile attacks into Israel.
