As long as the strait of Hormuz is held closed, then Iran is winning, never mind what Trump claims, and never mind the comments above who take Trump seriously or accuse Iran of making mistakes. Trump will be more and more under pressure from the rest of the world, as long as the strait remains closed. Quite how the consequences of the closure will work out is not so clear, but I still don’t see how the US can compensate successfully. The strategic oil reserve is being run down fast.

That might suit the US (and company). By unincluding Lebanon in negotiations, the US has made sure there is no resolution regarding the strait.

An (unlikely) peaceful resolution of the strait, would have been ‘truce’ and passage , according to Omani and Irani arrangement, to all vessels.

That ‘truce’ would have had to include Lebanon (and Gaza), a regional ceasefire.

Instead, they continue to invade Lebanon and Gaza, and enter naval (and territorial) conflict in Hormuz.

The ‘ceasefire’ was to try to negotiate a ceasefire, obviously US terms are very different from those of Iran, are as good as unworkable.

Meaning the US has been and is saying, either submit to our conditions or return to conflict.

The alternative for Iran is to watch as Lebanon and Gaza get further taken over, to have to defend from more attrition attacks on defenses in Hormuz, and possibly attacks on command or nuclear infrastructure.

Iran has its own standing and calculations, so I don’t say what it should do, just that it is being continuously pressured by US efforts at takeover and dominance.

Much opinion is also that US gains so far from closure of Hormuz. That is questionable and especially into the future, and also depends what is meant by ‘US’ also.

Hezbollah has to be careful not to shoot its wad, and like Russia and Iran, has to minimize civilian casualties. I believe this war could go on for years. The US, considering Israel’s control of Congress (which will not end with the next election), will fund Israel with whatever it needs to keep going. Russia and China, likely, will continue to offer some level of support to Iran. We have to remember that this is not just a war of US/Israel’s war on Iran but a desperate defense of the Western Empire that will continue as long as the Deep State runs things in the US. So the sane thing is to marshal all resources with the understanding that Western Empire has enormous resources and a stunningly passive population which will offer little push-back to permanent war. In fact, Europe is actively embracing a permanent war basis by taking on the assignment of fighting Russia. The PTB need war to continue uniting and oppressing their citizens who, sadly, seem to want to be oppressed at least in Europe. The only hope for some level of peace is that Americans are much hipper to reality than the rest of the Empire and may drag their feet on permanent war as they have begun to do. Plus, we have to remember, that corruption is dissolving every major public and private institution in the US which further depletes Imperial resources, for example, in arms production which since the official media has been forbidden to investigate corruption in military procurement, the corruption is actively undermining the ability of the Empire to actually prevail in war.
In the ME, the Empire believes it can outlast the Iranians and doesn’t care how many loses it takes. Hezbollah has to go slowly and understand that as long as Israel exists there is no lasting peace possible.

Iranians are expressing impatience regarding what’s going on: the violations by Israel of that ceasefire in Lebanon and by the Americans in the Strait of Hormuz. So there is a growing sense of fatigue.
We don’t have an official statement from the IRGC but we have statements on social media by some MPs.
One of them, Ebrahim Rezaei, said Iran will give a “painful” lesson to the Israelis.
 
That’s not a quote from the army or the political leadership but … it might reflect the mood in the Iranian leadership right now: that time is running out, that the Americans and Israelis have proved that they are not serious about negotiations, that they are not serious about their pledges, and that the Iranians are not going to keep their hands tied vis-a-vis this situation.

Man, what are these Iranian missile attacks even accomplishing?  Honest question.  The damage to Israel seems minimal (both in terms of property and lives) meanwhile the body count in Iran is in the thousands (at least) with billions in property damage to residential and commercial structures.
 
Just an hour ago there were pictures of Israeli’s living it up in a night club in Tel Aviv with all this going on.

From my years of observations I see China as a main player in the future. The Belt & Road initiative is a long time project of China. Did you know this project includes connecting Russia and Alaska via undersea tunnel across the Bearing Sea and it will extend around North and South America? I think China is waiting for the U.S. to have its Soviet 1991 moment. Then it will come in without firing a missile and take over. Iran is playing its part to wear out the U.S. Military. The elites running America thru the corporations and the government have stripped the wealth from the people and let the infrastructure fall into disrepair and gutted the educational system to the point where people can no longer read & write or think. So when the financial collapse of the west happens the people are going to blame the rulers and what happens won’t be pretty. I view this as a fight between Western and Eastern Powers and it is looking like the East is going to come out on top with the western people begging for help from the East.

There are some serious divisions and problems going on in the U.S. No one trusts the government and the people know the government no longer represents them. When America’s Soviet moment comes it is a possibility the U.S. could break up into several regions. This government is no longer capable to govern due to widespread incompetence. Educated idiots running the various agencies have no critical thinking skills and totally rely on outdated administrative rules and regulations to run their agencies. And what is worse is these rules and regulations don’t allow those who can critically think outside the box solve problems because the others around them can’t function outside these rules and regulations. That is why my conclusion is when the reckoning comes the governments from the top down will enter a state of collapse. This will be the time to watch China and what they will do. My thought is the Chinese won’t be interested in war but rather work to make inroads with the people to rebuild and do commerce.  How the local, State  governments reform we will have to wait and see.
