War On Iran: – How Trump’s “Project Freedom” Has Failed

Yesterday, at 20:35 UTC, U.S. President Donald Trump seemed to announce U.S. military protection for traffic through the Strait of Hormuz:

.. For the good of Iran, the Middle East, and the United States, we have told these [neutral] Countries that we will guide their Ships safely out of these restricted Waterways, so that they can freely and ably get on with their business.

This process, Project Freedom, will begin Monday morning, Middle East time.

If, in any way, this Humanitarian process is interfered with, that interference will, unfortunately, have to be dealt with forcefully. Thank you for your attention to this matter!

A stark announcement. U.S. Central Command, the U.S. military in the region, added some splash to it:

U.S. military support to Project Freedom will include guided-missile destroyers, over 100 land and sea-based aircraft, multi-domain unmanned platforms, and 15,000 service members.

Iran warned of any such move:

Major-General Ali Abdollahi, Commander of the Khatam Al Anbiya Central Military Command, has warned foreign navies against entering the Strait of Hormuz to escort commercial vessels, Iranian state media reported. He said any such presence could escalate tensions in the strategic waterway, through which a significant share of global oil supplies passes.

The warning comes after US President Donald Trump announced a naval mission, dubbed Project Freedom, to guide stranded ships out of the Strait of Hormuz.

Thus the U.S. mountain listened, labored and bore a mice (archived):

The new effort, which Trump dubbed “Project Freedom,” is a process through which countries, insurance companies and shipping organizations can coordinate moving traffic through the Strait, according to a senior U.S. official. It doesn’t currently involve U.S. Navy warships escorting vessels through the strait, the official said.

No sane owner, and no insurance company, will allow ships to sail through the Strait with U.S. ‘coordination’ while Iran opposes such moves.

Seyed Mohammad Marandi @s_m_marandi – 9:44 UTC · May 4, 2026

Iran has declared the area of control in the Strait of Hormuz as defined by the armed forces: from the south, the line between Mount Mobarak in Iran and southern Fujairah in the UAE; and from the west, the line between the end of Qeshm Island in Iran and Umm Al Quwain in the UAE.

bigger
One might speculate that Trump really meant to open the Strait and was pulled back by the Navy which is opposed to the bloody mess any attempt to open of the Strait by force would cause. It still did some testing.

During the last hour a U.S. Navy ship apparently tried to enter the Strait near Jask but was diverted after the Iranian military fired two missiles at it. CentCom seems to confirm the attack when it claims that no missile has hit.

Within a few hours the latest attempt by Donald Trump to somehow change the situation in the Strait has failed.

He is still left with three choices:

  1. Keep up the blockade of Iran (and thus Hormuz) while the global economy deteriorates further;
  2. Use again military force against Iran with the likely outcome being a worse situation;
  3. Declare victory and leave.

I suspect Trump will at least try step 2 before giving up and turning to 3.

so, Iran lied about the missiles?

Closing of the Strait of Hormuz and access to the Red Sea will result in a large, if not the largest of supply shocks ever, prices in the order of $150–$250, increased inflation and interest rates.

So let me understand this correctly. The US Navy and the economy holding it up is so ineffective and fragile that the Navy cannot even retaliate Monday – Friday because it would send energy prices higher and send the entire US economic ponzi scheme into collapse.
I don’t want to hear anything about “western civilization” ever again. 800 years of naval plunder and this is the best the “western civilization” could come up with.

Massive spikes in yields of US, EU and Japanese yields today. Usually this implies some sort of stress in banks or hedge funds or financial market in general, as they sell off bonds to get liquidity.

King Charles is a Volo fan boy (like most of the London bankers who are in trouble for lending billions to Kieve), and a green energy stooge (burn coal in the UK live better, warmer and cheaper, with get this, no brownouts or blackouts)…………..Trump sent him on his way, and then declared the Ukraine ‘defeated’………

It always the same story a weak, incoherent, but vicious UK asking the US to bail them out after getting in way too deep, in backing the fascists in Kieve.  Remember that Charles’ great uncle the ex King, was a Nazi fan boy, who lived out his life in Nazi occupied France with no compunctions……..and who had several uncles who fought for the Third Reich as general officers too.

The apple does not fall far from the tree……………

Trump’s plan with blocking the strait is to force Iran to shut down their pumps where they won’t be able to pump anymore because of it.  Great way to strangle the regime without firing any missiles.

Yeah, Trump is going to bring back the middle class. That’s why he presided over the TCJA and OBBB, two of the biggest wealth transfers from working people to the globalist elite in history. Everyone knows he hates the globalist elite, which is why he took $100 million from Miriam Adelson and invited Zuckerberg and Bezos to his inauguration. And just you wait, this war of choice for Israel is going to bring back manufacturing to Michigan and West Virginia! Trump is playing 8-D chess. Everyone who doesn’t get it has TDS.

It will take a generation or so of humiliation, as the Chinese called their own experience, before prosperity returns to a new American middle class.  Americans currently in the middle class will fight long and hard for the Epstein Class for quite a while.  At least until they are no longer well off enough to be considered middle class.

Redacted on the right, and Secular Talk on the left, are “republican shills” and “democrat shills” that are strongly moving towards breaking away from republicans and democrats, and are focusing on the evils of the US wars against Palestine and Iran.  And Lebanon and Syria.  It will take in my estimation a generation for these types of groups to rise, and eventually to work out some sort of compromise for right and left to live in the same nation without killing each other.  Unlearning generations of Epstein Class propaganda convincing us to hate each other will take a while.

As you made clear, the first step is for our globalist empire to crumble.  Americans can not be free as long as we have our overseas empire.  That will take a while.

@ 25 Gengar: Word!

By the way, Sleepy Joe the genocidaire and Kamala “most lethal” Harris both pledged the, uh, “powers that be” that Iran was the biggest “threat” to the United States and fully pledged to continue acts of war against that nation, up to and including the “strikes” we currently see by PotUS Cheeto 47… With war so close with Iran in 2006-9, the neocons convinced themselves, with Likud hectoring, that there was a “window of opportunity” to “decapitate” the IRI’s leadership after having assassinated their nuclear scientists, and seriously disrupt or impede missile and drone production.  They lied to themselves, and this situation resulted. The illegal and unconstitutional war will continue…

The Marinera, seized in January 2026 was carrying Venezuelan oil in violation of US sanctions.  There was a last minute change of the ship’s flag and ownership (Turkish owners previously) to Russian in an effort to deter the pending US action against it. Two crew members were Russian nationals and were released.

Trump seems to be an Iranian agent :

  1. gave to Iran the control and toll of Hormuz
  2. got the US regional bases to be flattened
  3. had the weather-changing regional arrays removed
  4. had the GCC oriented to a modus vivendi with Iran, instead of plainly hostile
  5. had the US sanctions on Iran become irrelevant
  6. had secondary sanctions on China refineries just plainly errr refused
  7. had the US aircraft carriers appear useless

Posted by: Asian Frog | May 4 2026 13:27 utc | 35

Maybe I need a hand…The USN wants to send a 100 ship flotilla in the name of protecting the innocent shipping fleet that is in danger of running out of toilet tissue, they will steam right into the declare no go zone and see what happens? What am I missing here….?? Oh and then the one destroyer sent in as a trial balloon gets radar locked, shot at and turns around. Seems more like the USA is looking for a playground level excuse to resume hostilities, while simultaneously being unable to inflict or sustain acceptable amounts of damage and casualties. The sheeps clothing of Operation Freedom is a nice touch though….

Option 3 –  Declare victory and leave – is the most chutzpah pants on fire, bare arsed retreat, the Ziolords and their US muscle bases – will be forced to do.
The current generation establishment tools will pretend they didn’t leave with tails between their legs.
To go hide behind a walled garden, a prison for their billion slaves.

As the surrender talks with Xi appear to still be on track this month. Just weeks remain.

Are they still going to be attended by the potus pilate? For it is he, that was chosen for that hair shirt wearing task; to carry the sins of failure; in the Zio Waster History Books.

The Chinese and multipolar victors will insist that Bankers, Generals and Intelligence consiglieres sign that document of unconditional surrender.

Maybe DJT47 will pull a fast one! Say he has failed a test and didn’t achieve his customary hundred percent and so has to stand down immediately and Thiels puppet Jaydee must go; with Little Marco of the Ziolords State Department. That’ll fuck both their ‘presidential runs’.

Leaving the Drumpffty Dumpty heirs to mount another future attempt up the greasy pole towards their $Trillion dynasty!
The vague announcement of US occupation trope and bases out of Europe are clearly the first signs of retreat.

Nazios banderist Hitlerite Ukraine will fold like a wet paper bag the instant their money flows cease.

This thirty plus year world war FINALLY finishes with the eviction of the bases and the ilegal apartheid Nazionist entity in the Levant ; the Saudis and other satraps absorbed into west Asia and the land corridor between them and Africa secured and open.

Free of the control, piracy , slavery and profiteering by the Old Bastards and their Vampyres ball burnt to ashes like their fictional Red Heffers.

Don’t get your hopes up too much. Here are some numbers:

  1. The USA have currently approximately 85.000 soldiers in Europe, including the Mediterranean US navy.
  2. NDAA (National Defense Authorization Act) from 2026 rules that the US president cannot reduce the number of US soldiers in Europe below 75.000 without Congress consent.
  3. This means that Trump can call back only 9000 soldiers. He may move troops around, e.g. from “disloyal” Spain to subservient Poland.

I believe that NATO’s relevance goes down but it is still important as a money spigot for the US military industry. There’s also no reason why the USA should give up strategic control. In fact, the US is strengthening military control in EUrope on the tactical level. And Ramstein is relevant right now for the West Asian and Ukrainian battlefields.

There is one thing that the talk about “US pulls back from NATO” achieves: it strengthens the EU militarisation project (“we must defende Europe ourself”). That’s a twofold programme: (1) Propaganda. (2) Redistributing money from social and other spending into warfare.

Posted by: Konami | May 4 2026 14:02 utc | 60

To bear in mind:

Notwithstanding the 60 day ‘war powers’ definition, what is openly accepted is that currently the region is only in a kind of ceasefire.

This means that technically various countries are still at war with each other. The definitions are very confused on this.

This brings me back to the blockade sequence, which has never found a satisfactory answer. We don’t know the exact ceasefire terms, documentation has not been offerred to the public.

So where it included Lebanon, the rights allowed to Iran or agreements on use of Hormuz, the subsequent closure by Iran due to breach of ceasefire, the imposition by US of its own blockade and further sanctions, any attempts by Iran to open Hormuz per ceasefire, right up to US now unilaterally trying to enforce open passage, which is not impartial due to the state of war mentioned and so the right of blockade or control by Iran, nor its claim to avoid US acts of piracy:

Appear as one big fudge, apparently purposeful.

Not only do they live in their own fantasy world, they get so convinced by their own lies that they can no longer tell the difference between fantasy and reality. No wonder they lose all their wars.

Thanks to the Iranians, they are in the process of getting knocked off their horse, hence their panic as reality rears its ugly face and hits them hard. This is all happening right now in slow motion.

For example Bahrain has no income. How long can these Gulf states last before Saudi Arabia overwhelms them. Then would come an investment in pipelines with Israel very much in the picture.
Is this an Israeli long game ?

Oil supply shock continues spreading through the western economy. ‘Just Dario’.

WHILE THE OIL SHOCK WORSENS, THE FUTURE OF GOLD AND SILVER BECOMES BRIGHTER

In the first part of this episode, I will use Spirit Airlines’ bankruptcy as an example to explain how the oil shock spreads through the global economy and is now starting to impact the US directly. At the same time, the conflict in the Middle East between Iran and the US remains on a standstill.

In the second part, I will discuss the Japanese government intervention in the FX market, how that injected prompt liquidity into the global financial system, and how this is an example of governments’ stubbornness to continue expanding the money supply in the global financial system, increasing the long-term tailwinds behind the prices of gold and silver.
00:00 Introduction
01:50 The Bankruptcy Of Spirit Airlines
02:59 How The Oil Supply Shock Is Impacting Companies’ Cash Flows
04:46 Paper Oil Market Price Suppression Is Impairing Companies’ Ability To Hedge The Risk Of Increasing Prices
06:11 The Worsening Oil Supply Shock Remains A Bigger Problem For The US than Iran
07:55 Anatomy of the Latest Japan FX Intervention On JPY
10:32 Why Japan’s FX Intervention Is Only A Way Of Delaying Dealing With Japan’s Economic Structural Problems
11:58 How FX Interventions Inject More Liquidity In The Financial System
13:28 Gold and Silver Long-Term Benefit From The No-Stop Money Printing
17:59 Wall Street Cannot Deny Anymore Gold and Silver Prices Will Be Much Higher In The Future

I can’t see running a well-armed blockade with a single ship and believe that it was a probe and the Iranian fire was purposely “across the bow.” Sides feeling each other out without triggering a larger fracas, but reporting the event as a “miss.”

The problem is that literally everyone alive on the planet over the age of 60 (that would include Trump) knows (because the embargoes of 70’s) that Iran would close the Straight of Hormuz.  Therefore the decades longstanding “rule” was Do Not Mess with Iran.
I believe that people like you need a history lesson.  Start with the CIA coup in the 1950’s that installed the brutal dictator the Shah for the rape of the Iranian oil fields by American companies.
The truth is that America on it’s own was never great.  It became wealthy by plundering other countries.  Iran now refuses to be plundered by Trump. Can’t say that I blame them.

Pakistan just violated the Chinese brokered ceasefire with Afghanistan last week by bombing a university. So in the short term, the US definitely isn’t going to just declare victory and leave.
Pakistan is a bellwether for Western actions in the Middle East. General Munir removing Imran Khan in 2023 coup replaced an Iran-aligned civilian government with an unfriendly US puppet. Pakistan declared open war on Afghanistan the day before the US bombing of Iran to cut off land connection between China and Iran and it’s continuing because the US wants the land connection to remain closed. Which means further hostilities are pretty much guaranteed.
In hindsight, the last time a coup installed a US aligned government in Pakistan was in 2001, when Pervez Musharraf declared himself president, mere months before 9/11, and the start of the military campaign against Afghanistan. The eventual fall of the Musharraf government spelled the end of the occupation of Afghanistan.
On a similar note, General Munir is expending a lot of political capital by attacking Afghanistan in a war that doesn’t benefit the Pakistani people at all, so the US campaign against Iran is on a time limit.

ChinArb explains that System A is the US, Israel, the NATO allies, Japan, South Korea – each and all of them defeated already. System B is China which has won. System C isn’t identified but appears to refer to Iran and behind Iran’s tactical victory, China,  because it “controls the flows”.

In this advance celebration of VOW day – Victory Over the World – the Chinese don’t care to address any of the issues the current war combatants claim to be their war aims, their war settlement terms. “Beijing cares about oil. Beijing doesn’t care whose oil… If China has no loyalty even to the IRGC [Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps], then what is the actual relationship between Beijing and the IRGC? It is not a subordinate relationship. It is not a ‘constraint and constrained’ relationship…Beijing cares about oil. Beijing doesn’t care whose oil…The IRGC knows that China is not loyal to the IRGC. China is loyal to oil. The IRGC is just one of many sellers of oil on this planet — and because it can only sell to China (excluded by the global sanctions regime from all other buyers), China can buy from it at a deep discount.”

“What China has built is System B — a global industrial network woven together from manufacturing capacity, resource flows, logistics, settlement channels, and infrastructure investment. And an industrial system does not need proxies, because the expansion mechanism of an industrial system does not depend on military victory at all. It expands by converting industrial output into the dependency relationships of the physical world itself. Its influence is not produced by action — it is produced by existence. The fact that 1.4 billion Chinese people’s industrial appetite exists on this planet is itself enough to change the calculus of every resource exporter, every port, every mine, every refinery, every shipping company. It does not need to send anyone anywhere to persuade anyone of anything — its industrial metabolism is doing this on its own, every day, twenty-four hours, without rest.”

“This exchange of System A’s apparent victories for the kind of concession System B doesn’t care about — has a name. It is the actual operating mechanism of the Islamabad negotiation. But it is more than a mechanism. It is what you will see in every news headline over the next three to five years.”

“The nuclear non-proliferation issue — something System A has treated as a global issue for fifty years — is quietly being downgraded from ‘global issue’ to ‘System A issue.’ System B doesn’t care. And issues that System B doesn’t care about will increasingly be marginalized — not opposed, but forgotten… The nuclear non-proliferation issue is a System A issue. It is a System A internal order established by the NPT regime in 1968 — preserving Western monopoly over nuclear technology. System B is not in this logic. Nuclear weapons make no contribution to System B’s expansion mechanism. They will not let China sell one more ton of steel. They are completely irrelevant to industrial metabolism. So China’s actual position on the nuclear issue is: whatever, as long as it doesn’t interfere with doing business.”

This sounds like science – military, political, sociological, economic, logistics. In fact – that’s to say, in proof – it’s ideological. It’s as religious as the IRGC word is Islamic; the Jewish word is Chabad;  the American word is what President Trump tweets.”

The King’s speech to Congress.

The British Monarch performs several important roles.  Lurking in among those roles is his seldom performed duty as a constitutional backstop.  That’s it.  He does not determine British foreign policy, in front of or behind the scenes.

It’s quite possible that King Charles thoroughly approves of current British foreign policy.  It has never been a requirement that the Monarch has to have a brain.  But whether he does or not, that speech will have been vetted or tailored in order to express the policy of HMG, not of the King himself.

OT:
It seems the EU is eyeing some kind of integration with Canada to pivot from Russian supplies of many minerals. Massive competition in key sectors and even more millions with the right to live and work, what could possibly go wrong? (In fairness, the 2004 and 2007 expansions which destroyed the EU as a concept and were only done to serve the insane confrontation with Russia already killed the EU, we’re just watching it’s corpse wander around) And all in service of making it easier to adopt a new Cold War mentality towards Russia for generations and being forced to take in the millions of Ukrainians.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EAMRToNSDZo
Of course, it could all be just political theatrics from both the European and Canadian vassal states to pretend to front to the US until it’s leadership assumes a more respectable aesthetic while engaging in the same insane neocon policies. Mark Carney the former Bank of England head (And whose career started in Goldman Sachs) who was just appointed Canadian prime minister has 3 passports (UK through naturalisation, Irish through the granny rule) and raised eyebrows for installing a 150m Canadian dollars over 10 years budget increase for the CBC to try and integrate it deeper with the EBU, including potential participation in the Eurovision Song Contest (Something, no doubt, the EBU would welcome given Spain, Ireland, Netherlands, Slovenia and Iceland having boycotted after the disgusting non-sequiturs vote in December failed to kick Israel out.)
Carney has previously made the remark of Canada (Read: Anglo-Canada) being “the most European of the non-European nations”, I suspect Quebec actually has the right to that one though… Montreal feels like a European city and to be fair so does Ottawa. But Toronto and Vancouver, the demographic hearts of Anglo-Canada (That are increasingly Chinese and Indian in demographics anyway) feel so like generic NA cities they often play double in Hollywood for just about any US city. Unlike Anglo-Canada which is caught in the influence of the American media, Quebec actually looks to France for inspiration. Canada’s deep cultural and immigration ties to the UK fizzled out a generation or two ago and that country left the EU anyway, of course, since one of Carney’s 3 passports is still an EU one, he may not have fully noticed…
I’m still shocked that a central banker, let alone a central banker of a foreign CB was just allowed to be appointed PM of Canada, let alone one who has 3 passports. Carney apparently gave up the other 2 to become PM but he obtained the UK passport as a show of loyalty in order to become the head of the Bank of England…

my Property taxes here is occupied Europe are ~240€/year for a property worth  allmost 3x versus your Brothers.  Services and Schools here are way way better than in the most posh US suburb. College education is pennies.
da wife‘s car insurance runs under 300€/year.

Hormuz Strait Initiative Will Not Necessarily Include US Navy Ships

https://x.com/dimitrilascaris/status/2051210198702780553

“Project Freedom’ is a fraud. The US navy will not ‘necessarily’ escort ships through the Strait of Hormuz, but will ‘guide’ them.

In other words, they’ll use unescorted tankers and cargo ships as bait to attract attacks from Iran. The US will then use the attacks as a pretext to attack Iran from a safe distance.

This is nothing but a scheme to relaunch the war while making it look like Iran is to blame.”

Thank you for your responses.  I most certainly was not expecting the response by Fool Me Twice claiming that the US economy is doing just fine for the middle class.

So, regarding the pending destruction of the US middle class… “reports of my demise are greatly exaggerated.”.
Posted by: Fool Me Twice | May 4 2026 12:59 utc | 30

Claiming something is true does not make it so.  What I wrote was not exaggerated at all.  I talked about it taking about a generation for the US middle class to disappear.  This most definitely IS consistent with current rates of US middle class decline.  The US middle class, overall, IS declining economically, steadily over time.  It has been for  a long time.

btw, NATO is a burden-sharing operation. whatever the US cuts in NATO support will be picked up and jacked up by the other NATO powers. it’s already happening.

here’s a good chatbot query: what is the per capital military expenditure of the NATO powers and its allies? and of China? and of Russia?

who said War is a Racket? it won’t end until the global ruling class, incl in Russia and China, is destroyed.

I watched “promethian updates”
Secretary Hegseth said an “Office of Strategic Capitol” was being made. OSC. Private funding for military production assets. They said it was a like a bank.
I found another OSC he’s made memorandums for, last year, is “office of Special Councel”. Federal Whistleblowers getting shut up.
I can’t make sense, why all these identical acronyms. Seems to be intentionally confusing.

Basically, the IRGC fired warning shots at the USN Burke class destroyer heading for the straights……..wisely to advert WWIII the destroyer withdrew……very wise indeed.
Posted by: tobias cole | May 4 2026 12:12 utc | 9

USrael vs. Iran will not be remembered as “WWIII”.
Now, if Russia and China made the moral, justified, courageous decision to actively enter the fray on Iran’s side and change the course of world history, then you might be able to call it World War III.
But of course, that won’t happen because they (especially Putin and the Kremlin) are scared of Washington DC’s military and of making NATO angry. That’s why Moscow has barely advanced the Russo-Ukrainian frontline westward in several years.

we are so fucked. i mean the world. China can’t even make a lithium ion battery that works. but let’s put them and their nuclear reactors in charge of the global economy and the world’s future!

China with its EV industry has been planning for this war longer than people realize. and during a war for its existence, it’s of the utmost importance that the capitalist ruling class keep its populace SITTING IN CARS and buying obscene levels of electronic and plastic garbage that no one in history has ever needed.

so at the individual level, people just keep driving in circles. at the global level, history just keeps moving in a circle, of perpetual war. Thank you China. but look at the flying cars! self-driving, so I can keep up on my crypto futures. let’s turn the atmosphere into a gigantic auto junk yard, filled with spontaneously-combusting batteries, doing in 3D what’s been done in 2D, and call it progress.

and the nuclear reactors can power the AI data centers which will be needed for all the traffic control required to monitor all the 3D vehicle traffic, traffic that’s going to juice up at the solar-powered recharge stations.

as the bible says, God bless the winds. God bless the floods. God bless the fires.
