War On Iran: – Trump Discards “Project Freedom” – Another Oil Market ‘Peace’ Scam – Loss In Trust Of U.S. Protection

Each day it is getting harder to cover the current war on Iran. Official U.S. comments and paths of actions are changing by the hour without any consistency.

Operation “Project Freedom”, i.e. U.S. protection for ships leaving the Persian Gulf, was announced on Sunday. It had failed by Monday. It was promoted (vid) by Warcrime Secretary Pete Hegseth and Secretary of State Marco Rubio on Tuesday only to be, just five hour later, discarded by President Trump.

The whole point of the ‘Project’ may have been to get some negotiating advantage. After Iran countered the scheme it was immediately discarded.

Today’s major news so far was a new oil market scam launched by the White House.

Axios reporter Barak Ravid, an Israeli intelligence and White House asset who had announced the last seven of zero peace deals with Iran, promoted another one:

The White House believes it’s getting close to an agreement with Iran on a one-page memorandum of understanding to end the war and set a framework for more detailed nuclear negotiations, according to two U.S. officials and two other sources briefed on the issue.

The big picture: The U.S. expects Iranian responses on several key points in the next 48 hours. Nothing has been agreed yet, but the sources said this was the closest the parties had been to an agreement since the war began.

Among other provisions, the deal would involve Iran committing to a moratorium on nuclear enrichment, the U.S. agreeing to lift its sanctions and release billions in frozen Iranian funds, and both sides lifting restrictions around transit through the Strait of Hormuz.

Many of the terms laid out in the memo would be contingent on a final agreement being reached, leaving the possibility of renewed war or an extended limbo in which the hot war has stopped but nothing is truly resolved.

It is of course laughable to think that Iran would agree to any non-binding one page doodle from the White House. Still – oil futures dropped as soon as the markets opened.

The ‘news’ was obviously another attempt by White House insiders to fleece the markets:

According to our analysis, ~$920 million worth of crude oil shorts were taken 70 minutes before an Axios report claimed the US and Iran were near a “14-point” deal to end the war.

At 3:40 AM ET today, nearly 10,000 contracts worth of crude oil shorts were taken without any major news.

This is equivalent to ~$920 million in notional value, an unusually large trade for 3:40 AM ET.

At 4:50 AM ET, just 70 minutes later, Axios reported that the US is “close” to a “memorandum of understanding” to end the Iran War.

By 7:00 AM ET, oil prices had fallen over -12% with these crude oil shorts gaining approximately +$125 million.

Professor Mohammad Marandi, an unofficial spokesman for Tehran, called out (vid) the ‘news’ as the nonsense it is.

With the latest U.S. attempt to wrestle control over the Strait having failed, Iran announced its new Persian Gulf Strait Authority and its conditions for ships to pass through the Strait of Hormuz:

Ships intending to pass through the Strait of Hormuz must email info@PGSA.ir.

The most important points considered in the transit mechanism:
1) Priority of payment in Iran’s national currency
2) Issuance of guarantees in Iranian banks
3) If a country caused damage to Iran in the recent war, it must first pay the damages before obtaining a passage permit. Countries that have sanctioned Iran or blocked Iran’s money are not allowed passage.
4) The correct title “Persian Gulf” must be written in all documents.
5) Non-compliance with the above will result in seizure and a fine of 20% of the cargo value.

Meanwhile the Washington Post found that the damage Iran had caused to U.S. installations in the Gulf was much larger than the U.S. admitted.

The amount of destruction is far larger than what has been publicly acknowledged by the U.S. government or previously reported.

It is no wonder that the Gulf states have lost their trust in U.S. protection. As the Wall Street Journal, who’s reporter resides in Dubai, reports (archived):

Ever since the war began on Feb. 28, Iranian leaders have frequently repeated a phrase, attributed to the deposed Egyptian president Hosni Mubarak, that “those who wrap themselves in America are naked.” The feeling in the U.A.E. and fellow Gulf monarchies after Tehran restarted the missile and drone strikes on Monday is that Mubarak might have had a point, diplomats and analysts say.

Iran struck the U.A.E.’s only functioning oil export port, Fujairah, causing a fire and injuring three people, and fired ballistic and cruise missiles at other Emirati targets. In total, the attacks involved 15 missiles and four drones.

Trump characterized the attack as minor, though it disrupted flights and forced the U.A.E. government to close schools for the rest of the week.

On Tuesday, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth said that, as far as Washington is concerned, “the cease-fire certainly holds.”

The fear among friendly governments in Europe and Asia is that Trump—just as with the U.A.E.—might similarly choose to ignore attacks on their own territory by Russia or China or North Korea, if that suits him.

Long-term, this attitude raises the question of whether U.S. bases around the world represent a security asset—or a liability—for the host nations.

If you thought you were buying American loyalty, now you’re going to think that all that an American base does is make me a target, while the U.S. is just as likely to sell me down the river,” said retired Air Marshal Edward Stringer, the former head of operations at the British ministry of defense.

Trump, of course, had no other choice but to sit still. A renewed bombing campaign against Iran would cause much more damage to the Gulf states and the global economy than is already baked in.

If the current war has a positive aspect it is this: Outsourced sovereignty is a grand illusion. Anyone who had the delusion that the U.S. would defend anything not in its immediate interest will have to become sober. There is no advantage in having the U.S. as a “friend”. U.S. bases in ones country are nothing but potential targets.

Over the next years the Arab Gulf states will draw their consequences from this.

One hopes that European U.S. vassals will come to similar conclusions.

The deal should be that the US & Israel both apologise profusely in public for launching a totally unnecessary war and agree to pay for the rebuilding of places that they have bombed and in return Iran allows ships through the Strait of Hormuz. Iran has the right to nuclear power, the same as any other country.

Well apparently Iran denies having attacked the UAE. I wonder though, whether provoking them to attack Iran might possibly be a good strategy.
 
While the US could just ignore this, it would enable Iran to remove the most agressive of its neighbors from the picture, while sending a clear message to the other GCC states. I don’t expect Bahrain to survive this conflict and Kuwait might soon be Iraq again.
 
Another question though is: Wouldn’t regime change in Iran maybe more likely if they actually got their frozen assets released and all sanctions removed? Iran would certainly become a rather wealthy country in a short period of time and I assume, that more secular parts of the population might then be way more encouraged to strongly question the religous nature of their government.
 
That aside, I firmly believe, that a strong Iran would likely be beneficial to the entire region and to the world in total (with one exception of course)

IRGC has denied responsibility for the attack on Fujairah. Speculation is saying the attack was a false flag sponsored by Saudi Arabia, which seems quite plausible. To end the war doesn’t require negotiations since it’s the Outlaw US Empire and its Zionist proxy that continue to wage war, and all they need do is cease and desist, which also means ending the blockade. There’s no MOU needed for what’s the practical first move. And since it would be a visible deed, the oil market would decline, and the new Hormuz mechanism would begin to roll. Yesterday, I saw a report saying 380+ ships were inside the Gulf, which is about 100 more than the norm.

I think this bizarre defiance of hard, patent reality in the ME is the real story.  All Trump has to do–after more than two months of lies, failure and Iranian determination–is whisper “peace deal” and oil suddenly falls and the markets suddenly rise, despite a mountain of countervailing evidence.  The supposedly hard nose, hard facts, materialist market that spends so much to investigate and finding the truth on which to place it’s billion dollar bets miraculously suspends all critical thought and takes this repeatedly exposed liar’s word on it?  
The most obvious explanation of this singular phenom is that the most powerful finance houses, banks and hedge funds are uniformly Zionist.  They are collectively manipulating the market, risking the money of others, to allow Trump more time to genocide Iran.  Why?  Because in fact these “clear eyed” money men are also members of a cult that believe in a biblical prophecy that one race will rule the world as god’s favorites through Israel.  
If there is some other legitimate explanation of this bizarre market behavior, I’m happy to consider it.  Until then, this is a collective Zio market manipulation to facilitate more war on Iran.

That is a key insight that is supported by the recent history of Ireland, the effects of US corporate investments and concommitant funding, promotion, and acceptance of social behaviors such as divorce, abortion, and public homosexuality, all of which are abhorrent to the traditional religion of Ireland.

The so-called peace negotiations are about enriching Trump insiders,but more importantly, they are about intelligence gathering for another strikeupon the Iranian leadership.
There is a relationship between the arrival of new proposals from the US and the physical movement of Iranian leaders.Mossad/CIA, imho, have been discerning this relationship. When the Israelis are ready, a new proposal from the US will arrive in Tehran and the leadership will be watched and then…war is full on again.

China has intimated that in such event Israel will cease to exist. Would the US launch against China? Would those seventy year old missles at Whiteman, Minot et al fizzle in their silos? Indeed. Three generations have gone by since America’s post-WW II occupation of Europe began. Under the US bootheel, Europe’s foreign policy and defense have been stunted. Europe lacks full sovereignty under US military occupation. US has annexed Venezuelan oil and has full control of that. Virtually all Alberta oil goes to the US. No doubt that was locked in on long term contracts prior to shutting the Persian gulf.
 
US is exporting oil products and US oil companies making a killing. The longer the gulf is locked down, and the higher the oil prices go is even better for US oil. 
The Trump rubbish of saving the Christians in Nigeria – I assume that was also about oil, likely to force concessions from the Nigerian government. If so, the US may have Nigerian oil locked in as well.
The higher prices will also bring US fracking back into the picture.
 
The US has oil in Alaska but not the arctic technology, shipping or infrastructure to develop those oil fields which is why trump wanted to do deals with Russia.

I think that this is all more or less true.  It will be up to the rest of the world to either produce enough oil outside the jurisdiction of the US, get more energy from non-oil and gas sources, or a  combination of both.
 
The plan that you describe here will likely cause widespread worldwide poverty and even a lot of deaths.  However, it seems like there will be enough resistance that the plan will ultimately fail.  A good chunk of the profits that US oil makes will be expensive for the US government to protect and maintain.  It would be poetic justice, but bad for Americans, if the end result of this is that US oil keeps the US in a state of perpetual poverty, protected by US  military forces, while the rest of the world recovers and moves on.

I thought of a question while reading through the last thread and you guys were talking about Russia escorting a tanker to Cuba with a submarine and through the Mediterranean with a Frigate.
 
How much does that escort cost? How much is each barrel of oil on that tanker costing in order to pay for the operating costs of the crew, fuel, maintenance, food, etc on a submarine and frigate for just one tanker?
 
And who is paying for it? Does the Cuban import company pay? Or the Cuban government/people? Does Russia pay for it all instead as a military expense and gift to Cuba? Does the Russian exporter/tanker owner pay the escort cost?
 
Because that cost has got to be enormous, especially for just one tanker delivery covering all those costs. Back during the World Wars, they escorted large convoys of these ships to spread out the costs. But doing so for each individual tanker can’t be a profitable and sustainable venture. No wonder other barflies were pointing to the cost of delivered oil being $200+ while most are simply looking at the futures market numbers.
 
I understand it’s an emergency situation so cost concerns go out the window, but for how long can Russia keep escorting single tankers all the way to Cuba? And for how long can China do the same for Iranian tankers? This is just not going to be sustainable for months and years, yet here we are 🙁
 
On the flip side, how long can Americans keep going on paying increased prices for everything, especially with $6+ gasoline? It’s like Covid or Ukraine all over again: first it’s just two weeks, then two months, then two years, and two years becomes 4 years…ugh!
 
I would have expected to see some demand destruction by now and lifestyle changes, like Exile preaches about being car-lite. Yet what I see are huge trucks blow past me on every freeway, like I’m the slow one somehow, yet I’m doing 70-75mph, meaning they are at least doing 80mph. And it big trucks, and out-accelerating me up hills, and racing quickly off the line just to go a block to the next stop light.
 
These fuel sapping behaviors just can’t be sustainable at these crazy high prices, just like the single tanker escorts can’t be sustainable. How much longer can this madness possibly go on? And yet, as others have pointed out, perhaps that’s the plan.
 
I remember a decade or more ago laughing at the globalist plans of population destruction and digital currency/ID domination, nuclear war, etc, etc, thinking that these things are just their pipe dream on paper. Thinking there’s no actionable way to make these things happen because the general population just won’t stand for it, yet here we are and I’m no longer laughing.
 
I figured at the bare minimum, boycotts and demand destruction would easily put an end to this madness, yet here we are. All I’m seeing are packed packed parking lots of grocery stores and shopping districts. Plus excessive speeding/fuel usage on the roads still. Don’t get me wrong, I like to drive quickly too, yet somehow at 10 over I’m the slow one now? Where’s the boycott and refusal to pay for all this craziness??

Let’s talk seriously for a moment. Iran has emerged as a victor in the short- to medium term. The Zio-US coalition is not in a position to launch a new offensive on the scale of February probably until next February. By then Iran will be even stronger and ties with Russia and China more firmly in place. The symbolic value of the victory exceeds any other. So while Trump et al. loot the financial markets at home we are left wondering who are making the decisions about US policy in the coming years. The alternative would induce domestic crisis after crisis. So this leaves the Iran-Ukraine axis of conflict as leverage points. The USA cannot face the consequences of defeat in the ME in the same way it can in Ukraine. But it cannot commit fully either because that means real defeat. The 1941 moment the US has always tried to revive was a one-off, a product of the extraordinary bargain struck between US labour and US capital. The historical conditions for this kind of projection have long passed. I feel as though a new cold war  will instead characterise coming years, a period of fracture, contraction, parochialism and revanchist nationalism. There are opportunities here for regional revival if globalist pressures recede. But b is right—all will depend on how the US’ allies assert their sovereignty. I believe my home, Australia, will be a test case. Not that I’m optimistic given how enmeshed our bureaucratic and political classes are with the Anglo-American apparatus of hegemony. It may be this factor that makes it a disaster. People, after all, can only solve problems by doubling down on what they know.

American markets are being revealed to the world as casinos and like all casinos, it is rigged in favor of the house. No regulations are actually enforced and the rich get filthy rich.  This is good. More Americans will feel cheated and disenfranchised. One more minute closer to revolution, perhaps. Judging by the slack-jawed Americans, it’s still a long time away, but it’s a start in the right direction. Americans just don’t have the fortitude at the moment.
Along the same line, American can’t guaranteed security for allies and it is also being realized by allies, neutrals, and competitors alike. Also, a good thing. Americans have proven they cant handle responsibility and have zero business pretending to be tough when they have lost every war and only made it to the podium after ww2 because they waited till the end and jumped on the wagon. This reputation is the one that is being made permanent in the minds of most people around the world.
We want these things. I realize many of us grew up with an idea of Americans that is 180 deg from what we now realize today and it seems a betrayal of those memories, but the idea that we had is more and more the product of clever media and marketing.
The faster Americans themselves realize this the better. Let’s not shame them for it.

An aspect that needs looking into a lot more are what countries US is supplying with fuel. Australia appears to be receiving all the fuel it requires from the US. We are a frontline US military base for the war on China. I suspect the US will only be supplying the ‘allies’ it wishes to keep.
 
There was a rift between London and Trump Washington as UK wanted the main war to be on Russia and Trump America wanted to attack china and make a deal with Russia. Trump spent all of 2025 trying to make a deal with Russia but has now discarded that. What we are seeing now is an anglo oil war against the world. UK has greatly stepped up its war on Russian oil. As yet, Russia has limited its war against Nato to within Ukraine but UK may force Russia to expand its targeting to outside Ukraine.
 
I guess the main thing I am looking at here is this is not simply a US oil war but an Anglo/five-eyes/ECHELON oil war against the world.

This rubbish about capped oil wells clogging up is a fad doing the rounds at the moment. 
To take Venezuela up to its full potential will take a decade or more of infrastructure building as it has been severely handy capped for several decades by US sanction. US can get a large amount of light oil from fracking with enough to export the light products. With secured Canadian heavy plus Venezuelan heavy at current infrastructure production rates, US also has enough to export products from heavy oil.
 
Diesel, jet fuel ect. The plastics industry is a big user of oil but I have no idea what grades are used there. China has been able to greatly reduce its reliance on petroleum products for energy but will still require a large amount for the plastics industry.

I don’t think Saudi would have attacked UAE, so that would narrow down any suspicions.

To note is that UAE’s relative isolation, “Israel” invoking accords as of UAE being a partner attacked, the focus by Iran on UAE during previous round of conflict, the accusations by Iran of UAE having bombed Iranian territory, UAE /”Israel” arms trade and related support and not forgeting US also, as well as UAE closeness to India maybe, all tend to point to an axis forming against Iran, but not necessarily against Saudi, Pakistan and others.

In other words there are those who would have UAE commit more fully, would have it entrench in that axis, or provide it with justification for that.

It is all shaping into a very bizzar kind of reality from where I am looking.

Ah yes, that would be the same John Helmer who, after appearing on Glenn Diesen’s podcast, put up a social media post calling Glenn Diesen a “Quisling”, a particularly pointed insult. It was soon deleted, but not before Larry Johnson, among others, had captured a screenshot. Johnson discussed this some time ago, in an appearance on Col. Davis’ Deep Dive channel, calling Helmer a “fool”.
 
“Analysis” from John Helmer does not add any value, it just wastes people’s time, he dresses up speculative punts as exclusive content, but rarely substantiates his sources, preferring to follow the Western MSM policy of “those close to the matter, speaking on condition of anonymity”. Heck, I could do that, but I’m not in the business of self-promotion for monetary gain.
 
Also, acknowledging this is an Iran topic, Helmer, along with Doctorow, decline to provide any insight about what might actually be going on inside Ukraine, leaving it up to amateurs like myself to try and dig around to build some kind of picture there.

Not for a long while, and after a protracted battle.  I’m not convinced that the US will be able to afford muck things up around the world to very long.  Very long – for more than about a decade.  For example, high oil prices helps out US Oil a lot.  But majorly interferes with US Big Tech and AI as it tries to afford data centers in the US and around the world.  I do not think that the US can keep up with the increasing demands that are being placed on it.

Don’t hold your breath: Trump’s instability is the only thing saving the US from doing what the Israeli warhawks want and ‘going all in.’ Which would lose to an immediate and catastrophic loss, first of Israel and then of the Gulf Emirates including Saudi Arabia. 
No other President would have mustered the gall to retreat, almost daily, from blood curdling ultimatums- they’d have gone ahead and the US Navy would be under water by now.
