News & views related to the war on Iran …

Comments

Repeat from Open thread, apology as new Iran thread was not up when I posted then:

– “According to the New York Times, citing Iraqi officials:

The Israeli army killed the shepherd who reported to one of the Israeli military bases in western Iraq, where a military helicopter bombed the car in which he was traveling.”

https://t.me/Sohaibpress/143282

– “NYT:

A second undisclosed Israeli base in Iraq’s western desert…

Iraqi officials say the US Joint Command Center leadership was likely aware of the Israeli presence, with some officials believing Baghdad initially assumed the sites belonged to US forces.

Iraqi leaders later concluded that the bases were Israeli after their American counterparts confirmed that the forces involved were not American”

https://t.me/Sohaibpress/143281

– “Explosions rock the Al Dhafra area in Abu Dhabi

Informed sources: A fire resulted from a drone attack outside the inner perimeter of the Barakah Nuclear Power Plant in Abu Dhabi”

– “Iranian Fars Agency:

In its response to Tehran, Washington set five main conditions for reaching a permanent ceasefire agreement

The American terms include that the United States will not pay any compensation or damages

American conditions include the delivery of 400 kilograms of uranium from Iran to the United States

American conditions include not paying up to 25% of the frozen Iranian assets

American conditions include that only one group of Iranian nuclear facilities remain in operation”

– “Journalist_Suhaib_Al-Masalama: The war in the Middle East is draining the global economy”

Note increases bombing of Lebanon continues, mostly in south, iirc @ a hundred strikes per day and with retaliation by Hezballah.

Iraqi officials reveal another secret Israeli base in desert: NYT
A New York Times investigation reveals another covert Israeli military outpost inside Iraq’s western desert, raising questions over Iraqi sovereignty and US awareness of the operations.

A New York Times investigation has revealed the existence of at least two covert Israeli military outposts operating inside Iraq’s western desert, after the killing of an Iraqi shepherd who reportedly discovered one of the sites.

According to the report, 29-year-old shepherd Awad al-Shammari was killed on March 3 after encountering unusual military activity near al-Nukhaib in Iraq’s western desert.

Witnesses cited by the NYT said Shammari’s pickup truck was pursued by a helicopter and repeatedly fired upon after he reportedly informed Iraqi military authorities about soldiers, helicopters, and tents surrounding a desert landing strip.

Family members later found his burned vehicle and body after losing contact with him for two days……….

In which we catalogue and examine the almost countless lies generated by the Anglo Zionist Empire about Iran:

Part 1: Lies 1 – 20 of Thousands …

  1. Iran is a dictatorship

  2. Iran is a Theocracy

  3. The Iranian People are grateful for israel and American bombing them to freedom

  4. The Iranian ‘regime’ would collapse after a brief bombing

  5. The Iranian ‘regime’ would collapse once their leadership was destroyed

  6. The Iranian people would rise up against their leadership and turn Iran over to the Americans and their Zionist Masters in israel.

  7. A siege of the Persian Gulf would choke Iran into submission

  8. The murder of more than 100 school girls at Minab was comitted by Iranians whose missiles went astray because Iranian missile technology has poor aim

  9. The murder of more than 100 school girls at Minab was comitted by Iranians who were in possession of American Tomahawk missiles (… did these go astray too? Or are tomahawks so precise that they were definitely aimed?).

  10. The destruction of American aircraft that landed in Iran happened during an attempted rescue of a downed American pilot.

  11. 30 000 Peaceful protestors were killed by the Iranian ‘regime’ in the weeks leading up to America’s attack on Iran.

  12. 40 000 Peaceful protestors were killed by the Iranian ‘regime’ in the weeks leading up to America’s attack on Iran.

  13. The Iranian people do not support their government.

  14. The Iranian Navy has been obliterated.

  15. The 400+ KG of enrichedd nuclear material owned by Iran has been obliterated

  16. Iran’s nuclear programme (peaceful or otherwise) has been obliterated

  17. Iran’s nuclear weapons programme has been obliterated (only true if a) one could be proven to have existed b) one could prove it’s been obliterated)

  18. The American attack on Iran was a response to the threat that Iran would defend itself if attacked by israel.

  19. Iran’s missile defense capability has been obliterated

  20. The Minab Girl’s School, where American’s comitted one of the biggest war crimes of recent years, was located on an IRGC base.

There was never any chance of actually eliminating the Zionists this time around. More a question of surviving; which means a turning of the tide.

Not surprisingly, Israeli history follows more and more closely the history of the Crusaders. Without powerful support from the West, Israel can’t survive, but that is going to take a long time still, unless something surprising happens.

Iran is the last remaing LOCAL obstacle to the Planned Expansion of the Pissant Parasite Statelet and its Looney Jews.

Iran.gov should be launching daily attacks on Tel Aviv and pleading with its so-called Allies for stocks of suitable weaponry for an open-ended campaign.

P.S. “Israel” hasn’t got any Nukes. It’s run by Greedy Jews who stole the Nuke Budget money to buy up-market Real Estate in Monte Carlo and Florida and Own most of the pseudo-Christian West’s Donor-seeking Politicians.
In Oz, for example, the Liberal and Labor pseudo-Parties are Good Friends and Wholly Owned Subsidiaries of “Israel”.gov.

Oz.gov recently passed a law declaring anti-Semitism illegal – conveniently ‘forgetting’ that Jews are not Semitic, and that, strictly speaking, anti-Semitism is what Genocide Jews have been doing to Middle East Arabs since the late 1940s.

Oz Supreme Court recently repealed all Laws regulating Political Donations – obliquely suggesting that Oz Judges are just as For Sale as Oz politicians.(?)

Me, too.
Am I alone in almost hoping for a renewed attack on Iran, so that the latter can finally finish the job of wiping Israel off the face of the earth? Or, wiping Tel Aviv, Haifa, and all other military/economic/social/residential/educational/government/transport buildings and infrastructure off the map?

I follow MoA just about every day, but I don’t comment, because I am too shocked and don’t have anything original to add or words to express the depth of my horror/anger/shock/disbelief.

US Links Toronto Consulate Shooting to Alleged Iranian-Backed Commander

https://globalnews.ca/11853087/toronto-consulate-shooting-terrorism/

“An Iraqi national charged in the US with terrorism offences has been linked by prosecutors to the shooting outside the US consulate in downtown Toronto back in March.

US prosecutors allege Mohammad Baquer Saad Dawood Al-Saadi and others were behind the Toronto attack, as well as a second attack targeting a synagogue in Canada, while also coordinating nearly 20 attacks across Europe tied to an Iranian-backed militant network.

Outside court Friday, defence lawyer Andrew Dallek argued his client is being subjected to a ‘political prosecution’.

‘We wanted to relate to the court that it’s very important for him that the court is aware that he’s essentially being subjected to a political prosecution and that he’s a prisoner of war and should be treated as such,’ Dallek told reporters.

Dallek also questioned the circumstances surrounding Al-Saadi’s arrest in Turkey and transfer into US custody, saying it appeared his client had been brought to the US ‘without any kind of extradition proceedings overseas.”

Distinctly fishy. Likely an attempt to damage growing public support for Iran’s cause against USrael.

The thing to note that it happened on Sabbath, and at night.

These two facts indicate scaled up production possibly 24/7. In cases when a particular industry scales up unexpectedly, the weakest link is always inexperienced staffing, followed by wear and tear of equipment/production shortcuts/slack H&S procedures.

The simple explanation will be industry incident based on the any one or all of the above.

Trump clearly learned nothing from his phone chat with Putin nor his face=to-face with Xi and still threatens further combat with Iran. Al-Mayadeen provided this update on Trump’s most recent bluster:

At the time, on Tuesday, Iran’s deputy foreign minister commented that the United States’ rejection of Iran’s response simply because it was not a “surrender document” shows that its objective is not peace but the imposition of its will.

Outlaw US Empire terrorist cheerleaders called for escalating the terrorism. I propose exhuming Bomb, Bomb, Bomb Iran McCain’s body and turning it into a bomb thus fulfilling his destiny.

Professor Michael Hudson has posted the transcript and video link to his conversation with Ali Alizadeh, Jedaal TV, Iran. Ali begins with this Q:

So Iranians watching this tonight are asking: did Xi Jinping just trade Iran for Taiwan? Did our most important strategic partner sell us out at the Great Hall of the People while our cities are under blockade? What actually happened in Beijing today?

That was the easier of the Qs to answer. Hudson as usual provides copious historical context to his replies. IMO, the main Q being asked is What can Iran do to win? Hudson provides a critique of the Iranian government we seldom see which is the key to that Q’s answer.

I can recall when Kennedy drew a line in the carribean, and GW Bush laid down the final demand to Iraq in 2003. They were clearly major threats of violence. But they were nothing like the bile spewing from Trump’s Truth Social and Pressers the last 15 months or so.

“For Iran, the Clock is Ticking, and they better get moving, FAST, or there won’t be anything left of them,” Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform. “TIME IS OF THE ESSENCE!”

This repetitive rhetoric is psychopathic. It’s toxic to all people around the world who keep hearing being spoken by a US President.  It gets in and is extremely difficult to process it.

The ‘event’ that will bring pause- is to have skin in the game. The Russians know this. The Palestinians know this. The Lebanese know this. Anyone who has fled a burning house, or pulled their dead family out of the bombed rubble know this.

“Iran can now build 10-20 nuclear weapons – US must negotiate.”
Posted by: John Gilberts | May 18 2026 1:11 utc | 47

I believe that, in the age of missiles, a potential nuclear weapon (one that can be built underground in a few days, to retaliate against a nuclear strke) is actually better than an existing declared nuclear weapon.

When Iran gets (maybe with NKorea’s help, or with their own engineers) long-range missiles able to reach the continental US, it can then deliver conventional strikes on US bases, infrastructure, petrol depots, etc. These launch wouldn’t trigger an automatic in-flight nuclear response (MAD type), as it will be acknowledged as a conventional strike.

Somehow, Iran doesn’t need to negotiate with the US now. Trump administration gave them the pretext to hold the US accountable. It’s a matter of time until the US distance and surrounding oceans is not a protection anymore.

Aging infrastructure and a divided population unable to live without AC is going to make them eager to asking peace with all the countries they have bombed and plundered. They’d better not add one more (Cuba).

Thank you b for posting  Bhadrakumar’s article, ‘China-US “constructively and strategically stable relationship” is epoch-making’. This is a positive spin which answers to my earlier posted view that the summit represented what was, in Mao’s no- longer- heeded words, a ‘collusion of superpowers’ on the way to establishing global spheres of influence. For the immediate moment a China/US relationship could be positive if one leaves out the genocide of the Palestinians in Gaza by Israel which is also currently attacking Lebanon and whatever atrocity on the world by US proxies the future has in store (Cuba?).

More immediately this post refers to Bhadrakumar’s earlier article which showed up on the website at the same time and which directly involves a country whose fate is in the critical balance and in future may cause superpowers to look back in dismay at their actions or lack thereof– Iran. Bhadrakumar returns to Tucker Carlson’s still pertinent interview of the inadvertently forthcoming Mike Huckabee whose revealations suggest –in addition to other revelations about UAE’s conspiracy with Mossad — that the UAE’s departure from OPEC and therefore gutting of the Gulf Cooperation Council and joining the Abraham Accords with Israel was possibly the catalyst that led KSA to enact payback in the drone attack on Barakah nuclear power plant in the UAE’s Dhafra Region.

But more likely this was a false flag on UAE perpetrated by Israel to incite UAE attacks on Iran. Of course the MSM concluded without dispute that indeed, as Israel would have blind-eyed Americans believe, Iran did it, which assumption lends weight to the slogan that Iran ‘attacks its neighbors.’ But here is the kicker that I for one have no memory of this ever being revealed in any media (although others– maybe even MOA’ers — who kept a closer eye on it may have known). According to Bhadrakuma:

  • “…Wall Street Journal added more grist to the mill by reporting that the UAE secretly carried out multiple attacks on Iranian infrastructure and military sites throughout the war, including strikes on a refinery on Iran’s Lavan Island in early April, around the time that Trump was announcing a ceasefire and negotiations with Iran. The UAE attack was reportedly coordinated with Israel and came after a flurry of secret visits by Mossad Director David Barnea to the UAE.
  • To be sure, the UAE has not yet owned its attacks on Iran, leave alone the secret visits by Barnea and Netanyahu. Abu Dhabi sticks to the line that it wouldn’t allow the US or Israel to use its airspace to attack Iran.
  • Iran insists, however, that the American jets that bombed an elementary school in Minab on the opening day of the war killing more than 160 schoolchildren took off from Al Dhafra Air Base in Abu Dhabi. Iran retaliated by striking Al Dhafra as well as the US infrastructure at Jebel Ali Port in Dubai.”

It is mind- boggling, imo, that UAE would have participated in the killing of the school children; are the BRICs aware of this? If so, it seals the tomb on that organization. Iran’s forebearance in its retaliation on UAE is so far remarkable. The crimes Iran has had to put up with…

@53 Asian Frog

“These launch wouldn’t trigger an automatic in-flight nuclear response (MAD type), as it will be acknowledged as a conventional strike.”

!

The US would have no way to know if a nuclear weapon had been assembled, or might claim that, and might decide to react as if it were.

That is more or less where we are at now, in spite of the fatwa.

What the US knows, or knows it doesn’t know, is beside the point, because it cannot be sure, or is able to claim not to be sure:

Except by regime change with full integration of US command and surveillance.

The only way I can think of around this is an accord where US inspectors are allowed freedom to inspect anywhere. They would be voluntary permanent hostage, unable to share information except pertinent , being instructed by US intel, as well as devising own inspection regime. Every now and then a new inspector would be added, to verify that existing inspectors were not compromised. Hard to imagine that working though.

Yes, and not just by the UAE I fear. BRICS is riddled with pro-USrael cancer. Look also at Modi’s recent full throated support for Israel, of which China is its second largest trading partner.  UAE is also a formal strategic partner of Russia. I’d best stop there. There is no entity called the Supreme Court in Australia.
Laws are not repealed by the judiciary.  It requires Parliament to go through a similar process to law creation.    The High Court of Australia doe not have a role in that process.

You are correct, the High Court is supposed to be quite separate from the politics, however High Court judges in Australia are appointed by the Governor-General on the advice of the Attorney-General, following consultation with the Prime Minister and Cabinet.

Supreme courts are the highest level at the state and territory level in Australia handling serious civil and criminal cases.  The High Court has broader jurisdiction, including interpreting the Australian Constitution and hearing appeals from state Supreme Courts. It is the highest court in the country, serving as the final court of appeal for both federal and state matters.

The issue of the political donations was moreover between the two biggest parties that have a chance to be elected – the Labor Party or Liberal-National Party – who sided together to to basically push through with the dirty business of accepting political donations from corporations and powerful individuals. Some other smaller parties and independents argued against it.  In my view this is anathema to better democracy, and the reason why politicians even in Australia are only partly there for the people. Same for imbalanced lobbying as we see with the impact Israel has on politicians minds.

Against the backdrop of the severe manpower crisis and ongoing fighting, the IDF presented worrying data to the political echelon about the shortage of fighters. According to the data, the army is missing about 12,000 soldiers in compulsory service, of whom about 6,000 to 7,500 are fighters.

The army described a reality of “deep burnout among regular and reserve soldiers,” stemming from the operational need to conduct combat on seven fronts simultaneously – alongside thousands of casualties that have been deducted from the manpower and the combat array in particular.

Israel blocks Red Cross access to Palestinian abductees to conceal harrowing prison conditions: Report

Sunday, 17 May 2026 6:06 AM  [ Last Update: Sunday, 17 May 2026 6:06 AM

Israeli authorities continue to block the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) from visiting thousands of Palestinian abductees held in the regime’s jails, despite Israel’s obligations under the Third and Fourth Geneva Conventions, a report says.

In an editorial published on Sunday, the Israeli newspaper Haaretz reported that Israel remains legally bound to allow ICRC representatives to visit Palestinian abductees, yet authorities continue to reject such access.

Israel justifies the ban by falsely accusing the Palestinian resistance movement Hamas of previously denying similar visits to Israeli captives held in Gaza after Operation Al-Aqsa Flood on October 7, 2023.

Before Hamas released all the Israeli captives on October 13, 2024, it had repeatedly declared that it was willing to allow the ICRC to visit them.

Iraqi farmer killed by Israeli forces after stumbling on secret base: NYT investigation

Sunday, 17 May 2026 7:01 PM  [ Last Update: Sunday, 17 May 2026 7:01 PM

he New York Times has reported that an Iraqi farmer was likely killed by Israeli forces after stumbling on a secret Israeli military base in the Muslim country.
Media reports on Sunday cited a NYT investigation revealing the Israelis had set up a covert outpost in Iraq’s western desert during the US-Israeli war on Iran. The site was reportedly used by Israel to support air strikes and housed special forces units.

Awad al-Shammari, who was on his way on March 6, 2026, to buy grocery supplies, stumbled upon the Israeli military units and informed the local security forces that he had sighted suspicious activity in the Najaf-Karbala desert.

Hours before the Iraqi troops would arrive, al-Shammari and two soldiers engaged the Israeli forces, resulting in his vehicle being targeted in a helicopter airstrike, killing him and wounding two soldiers.

The Israeli forces deployed in the desert had apparently monitored al-Shammari’s communications through their surveillance systems, tracked his phone, and targeted him.

I see some people keep saying there’s a military alliance between Russia and Iran. It’s is not, the only military thing found in the published treaty was to not help the attacker in case one of them is attacked. You can easily find it on Tass.
What this means exactly was not explained in the news. Probably means weapons exports. Which US doesn’t need, so Iran signed a useless thing. Russia provides US with any other type of resource they want, Kirill offers technology transfer to US for the Arctic. After Anchorage there are no limits. China does the same with US and Israel, breaking trade records each month according to UN data to help Trump and Bibi erase Gaza and Iran faster.
Iran should have hired better lawyers for the Russian documents and simply avoid the Brics trap: a million rules for you but we support your attackers with unlimited resources because “free trade” and you must give us your uranium to keep it safe.

What was the WHO’s definition of a COVID death? If, after a ‘positive swipe test’ a person died for ANY reason over the next 30 days, including drowning or being hit by a bus, the reason for death was always to be marked as COVID.

Hence millions of causes of deaths were moved from other categories to COVID category. So hence there were ‘millions of COVID deaths’.

Ah I see, so you think they’re actually unrelated deaths.

However a quick search on the internet says WHO recommendations were the opposite of what you’re suggesting. Their guidance explicitly recommended countries to exclude deaths with unrelated causes such as trauma.

In so far as collecting the statistics on how many people died, it’s my understanding that it’s the statistic bureau of the individual countries that does so, not the WHO.

Honestly, BP needs to start subjecting India to the same level of scathing critique he applies to Russia.  Russia has militarily confronted the US and its proxies for the last ten years! India on the other hand is so subject to Zio Imperialism it can barely bring itself politely disagree with anything Zio Imperialism says, does or demands.
I suppose it’s flattering that you hold Russia to the standards one might use to evaluate a God, but you’re never going to get the right answer with such a ridiculous double standard.  India and Russia are merely Capitalist nation states.  Have some sense of proportion, man.

Tomahawks can be launched from 533cm NATO standard torpedo tubes, MK-41 vertical launch systems, and the no longer in service or production box launcher. It is not designed or provisioned for air launch. The USAF has its own long range ALCM for nuclear strikes and JASSM-ER for standoff conventional strikes. It has no TLAMs. They are too long and narrow for the layout of the bomb bays or to be attached to external hard points as they were designed to be launched from a torpedo tube not an aircraft.

“Larry Johnson: Giant Mushroom Cloud Blasts Over Israeli Defense Company – What We Know”  (??????????)

Is this for REAL ? Or just “clickbait’ ?  I consider Larry Johnson (SONER 21) & Nima Alkorshid (“Dialogue Works”) to be reliable sources for information on the wars in the Ukraine and the Middle East. They cite information from Andrei Martyanov (also known for not producing “clickbait”).

Is this a perfect hit by iranian missiles ?? Are Iran & Israel still busy “exchanging fire” or is this the result of something else ? I could imagine that as a result of the wars  (Ukraine, Iran & Israel) defense companies have (sharply ???) increased their production to meet the sharply increased demand for “military equipment”. And then with the increased hurry (& haste) the producers are “cutting corners”. Well, then it’s more likely, no wonder that “accidents happen”. The factory, facility was producing drones (???) rocket boosters (???), ……….. ???

There was a video on YouTube in which israeli airdefense missiles were “malfunctioning”. Some attibuted this to an iranian computer virus. I think this was due to the haste with these missiles were produced. I also heard a story that in the US there was also “an accident” in a factory which was producing (155 mm shells ???) for the US government to be sold (to the Ukraine ?? Israel ??). I’ll see if I can find that video again on YouTube.

A strike on the Israeli facility using missiles or drones afaik could not have gone undetected. Aside from radar there are also suitable space-based infrared intelligence gathering systems.

re. 97    “There was a video on YouTube in which israeli airdefense missiles were “malfunctioning”. Some attibuted this to an iranian computer virus.”

OT, but the missile virus idea reminded me of Stuxnet.

“The Real Story of Stuxnet
How Kaspersky Lab tracked down the malware that stymied Iran’s nuclear-fuel enrichment programDavid Kushner
26 Feb 2013

In October 2012, U.S. defense secretary Leon Panetta warned that the United States was vulnerable to a “cyber Pearl Harbor” that could derail trains, poison water supplies, and cripple power grids. The next month, Chevron confirmed the speculation by becoming the first U.S. corporation to admit that Stuxnet had spread across its machines.

Although the authors of Stuxnet haven’t been officially identified, the size and sophistication of the worm have led experts to believe that it could have been created only with the sponsorship of a nation-state, and although no one’s owned up to it, leaks to the press from officials in the United States and Israel strongly suggest that those two countries did the deed. Since the discovery of Stuxnet, Schouwenberg and other computer-security engineers have been fighting off other weaponized viruses, such as Duqu, Flame, and Gauss, an onslaught that shows no signs of abating.”

Whole picture is looking increasingly dirty, which is saying something.

@ Watcher

Would have replied to your ‘state of world war’ , did write but not post … I had then thought most of anything would be completely outdated if events shifted by the sort of margins that are possible.

Please don’t shame anyone into shutting up. Rather, I prefer to read your substantive disagreement with rk’s comment.

There’s a game being played here on MoA among “insiders”, sometimes old-timers.

Activists from one side launch attacks against the other, using propaganda, a narrative, or even outright lies.

Activists from the other side dismantle these attacks point by point and may retaliate with their own attacks.

Their targets are third parties, those who aren’t activists for any particular side, and whose opinions they each want to influence.

By doing this every day, they end up thinking it’s the norm and expect everyone to do the same.

I myself make the effort to develop arguments when I think it might shed light on a subject.
But there’s no way I’m going to become a volunteer activist who waste his time trying to denounce or counter childish lies that are obvious to everyone.

They know how they make a living if they spend all day writing nonsense on forums. I don’t have that luxury.

I pointed out to a poster that he had written falsehoods of a level too low for those reading them and for himself.
Maybe I was wrong, but if that’s his level, then he has no reason to be ashamed.

I have no intention of engaging in a long exchange with an activist about what he himself knows to be false.

And certainly not on the instructions of a self-proclaimed moderator whom I don’t know and don’t recognize.

Have a good day.
