News & views related to the war on Iran …

Comments

No real accounts from the Great One Day Summit; but from china’s PR efforts it appears that the tripartite world split between Oceana, Eastasia, and Eurasia is still the plan as long as west Asia and west Europe will be left to the ocean empire … I think the Chinese would be amenable to that, with minor quibbles and all else agreeable. Iran will, as always, need to fend for itself or get swallowed.

China was very clever to pin Trump to the floor by putting the focus on Taiwan. The American tech industry needs Taiwan and China used that as leverage to control Trump. Otherwise a nothing burger, at least on the surface. Well done China.
Notably none of the big mouths who went with the delegation to China have spoken. Trump has clearly been able to control them. Maybe because they are all in the same sinking boat.
But of course what happens next in Iran was the elephant in the room. Fury is to be replaced by Sledgehammer was the lead up push by the US Administration. Maybe because Israel is in political turmoil the focus is changed. The US needs Israel if it resumes its ME military aggression.
Meanwhile the clock is ticking on a worsening global financial situation.

– There are signs that there are people inside the Trump administration that are leaking information to the Wall Street Journal, New York Times and Washington Post. it shows that the Iran war is not popular inside the “Deep State”. In several videos on YouTube people are mentioning that news / information has been leaked to  (mainstream (???)) newspapers. How much is leaked and by who ?

– There also seems to be A LOT OF resignations from the US army. Or are these military officers part of a purge of the Pentagon by Hegseth and his buddies ? Or are they forced to “voluntarily” resign / retire from the military ? There are A LOT OF rumours and not too much soild evidence. Questions, questions and very few solid answers.

– Even a former Pro Trumper and influential vlogger like Joe Rogan (of the “Rogan Experience”)  has some (Serious) doubts about the Trump administration and the Trump / Netanyahu war on Iran (to put it friendly)
– There are a number of (jewish) Pro Israel vloggers / influencers (e.g. Ben Shapiro ) who are getting more and more desparate. Ben Shapiro’s “enterprise” / grift (called “Daily Wire”) has lost some 80% of his paid viewers since the year 2023. It seems that Shapiro’s staunch, uncritical support for Israel is getting less and less  popular.  Shapiro’s Daily Wire recently, according to a number of YouTube videos, had to lay off some 50% (some say even 60%) of his workers.
– There are other “influencers” in the US who are getting more and more fed up / are becoming “more critical” with the Iran war.

David Pakman gives a good explanation why the main stream media, even FOX News, can’t control “the narrative” anymore. I consider David Pakman to be one of the more sane and critical voices from the US “political left”.

Bhadrakumar occasionally writes articles that are apparently aimed at Indian audiences and which contain references that are pretty opaque to non-Indian readers.

His latest article is a case in point. It is about Indian relations with UAE and current activities vis-a-vis the current war. Maybe someone is more familiar with the foreground and/or background? The article is sort of interesting, but reads a bit disjointed for anyone unfamiliar with the latest Indian news headlines.

Not content with famously cavorting with Netanyahu 2 days before the start of the Iran war, India seems to be making a habit of sticking its foot in its mouth with respect to what would appear to be strategic geopolitical interests with Iran.

“…For example – Taiwan in exchange for a temporary lifeline for Trump himself. So that Trump not only refuses to support Taiwan, but also helps China “return it to its native harbor”. And for this, America will be given the opportunity not to fall into the abyss, and China, of course, will help Donny resolve his Iranian problem. By offering Tehran a “deal” that it cannot refuse…”

Israel failing?  Oh, please.  Their economy seems to be doing well despite war.  The rest of the PTSD and occasional protest look like kvetching that goes nowhere.
I think the only way this amoral racist enterprize truly fails is if the IDF rebels so badly that its game over.  So, there are reports about guys called up not showing up but I fail to see even minimal rebellion in the military/political establishment that got them out of Lebanon years ago.  It just looks like whining and boo hoo about slaughtering Muslim children – by sociopaths.
I would love, love, love to see the settlers who ‘bravely’ do pogroms against Palestinians actually face Hezbollah and others in combat.  They cut down others fruit trees and celebrate Greater Israel – while others risk their lives in combat.

Hezbollah is hunting-down the child-murderers in South Lebanon with FPV fiber-optic drones, and the optic for the sionists is terrible, they are not used to fight an enemy that could resist them, and less chasing them and putting that hunt on videos in internet so everyone can see it, so this cannot continue for too long, as would the case of the american in the Tet Offensive, these are countries, not like Ukraine or Russia, that cannot sustain prolonged period of televised casualties.

It all seems to be in flux while Trump is in China. Commentators are expecting events to ramp again over the weekend.

I suppose some are hoping US will return with a new-found wisdom, but others are saying a decision to attack will be made.

Not sure what is up with the UN draft, dragged in over a hundred countries, but these resolutions get decided at UNSC, so far Russia has only said ‘not support’, not ‘veto’.

China is not yet a superpower, despite possessing almost all the necessary means, mainly because it remains deeply energy-dependent and suffers from a profound inferiority complex.
Trump brought financiers and financial managers from major American corporations to visit their sweatshops.
China suffers from high-level corruption, much like Russia and Iran.
China is the producer, while the US is partly the financier and the buyer. Peking has gradually been trying to be resilient to US, unlike Russia and Iran who don’t show major concerns about it. For China if the investor and the buyer are one and the same, you could still find yourself in trouble. China is therefore too compromised, which may partly explain its inferiority complex.
USraeli strikes enabled the Islamic Republic to get rid of at least two layers of dead wood, something that could otherwise have been significantly more difficult.
This has not happened in China and Russia.

It’s likely that whatever wisdom Xi imparted to Trump the latter has already forgotten. After reading reports on the Summit, I trust China to uphold what it proposed while proof of any honesty will need to be seen in actions by the Outlaw US Empire. Here’s what Xi is reported to have said:

“Can China and the US overcome the Thucydides Trap and create a new paradigm of major-country relations? Can we meet global challenges together and provide greater stability for the world? Can we build a bright future together for our bilateral relations in the interest of the well-being of the two peoples and the future of humanity? These are the questions vital to history, to the world and to the people,” said Xi, per Xinhua.
“I look forward to working together with you to set the course and steer the giant ship of China-US relations, so as to make 2026 a historic, landmark year that opens up a new chapter in China-US relations,” he said.
“I have agreed with President Trump on a new vision of building a constructive China-US relationship of strategic stability,” Xi said.

I note that BigLie Media focused on the “historic nature” of the meeting while saying very little about any substance being produced, while people like Rubio struck to generalities in their comments and answers to questions. It appears very little was done regarding Iran, which conforms to the pre-Summit focus by China on bilateral relations. In that regard, the Global Times editorial opened with this paragraph:

Chinese President Xi Jinping on Thursday held talks with US President Donald Trump, who is on a state visit in China, at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing. The two heads of state agreed on a new vision of building a constructive China-US relationship of strategic stability as a “new positioning” in bilateral relations, providing strategic guidance for the bilateral ties over the next three years and beyond. This “new positioning” charts a new course for the giant ship of China-US relations to navigate through storms and sail smoothly, while also injecting greater stability and certainty into the future of global development. [My Emphasis]

I recall hearing such rhetoric before after the Anchorage Summit with Putin that amounted to nothing. Reading the editorial further, you’ll see the resurrection of previous initiatives by China to improve bilateral relations that have never been properly reciprocated by the Empire going back to Obama. Some of that and more was reviewed by Victor Gao in his chat with Danny Haiphong today. Will we see the actual enactment of these words from Marco Rubio:

[O]bviously, it’s in everyone’s interest to see stability in the world.

Or will Trump continue to violate the truce and perhaps break it completely?

That must be why all the world’s leaders are visiting China. NOT

Posted by: arby | May 14 2026 22:18 utc | 46

@41 karlof

‘Containing/obtaining’ Iran is too crucial to be trusted to China (or Russia) to mediate I think, so to me the visit is more along the lines of ‘no hard feelings, let’s keep it that way’. Did the meeting serve China somehow, I don’t know, but I expect it took some edge off current events in middle east there, for the public.

So maybe more a form of reassurance, as with Russia, ‘leaders are speaking and so have some kind of coordination’.

I don’t think Russia or China are going to fight over Iran, they will play whatever part in the all that suits. China does not have the hegemonic ambition the US has, I think US understands this, but at the same time encroachment by US is not welcomed and so at best a reasoned negotiation of what happens in what circumstance will have gone on, meaning some form of concession and recognition by US of this. Not that China will necessarily trust such, but I think China has enough presence or weight for the US not to want to upset it, for now at least. That includes Chinese presence amongst middle eastern countries/allies and their reliance on ‘things Chinese’.

Remains to be seen if UN participates at all, that would either underline Chinese and Russian positions, or otherwise US will just be carrying on as ‘completely unaccountable’.

If US acts contrary to whatever was privately understood by China, that could be taken as a major snub and humiliation that then sets relations down an unhappy path.

Any trust by China will be very tempered anyway, while conflict in the middle east and other contests continue.

He urges BRICS+ nations – a group comprising Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa, Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran and the UAE *- to resist ‘Western hegemony and the sense of impunity that the US believes it is entitled to’.

‘Iran therefore calls upon BRICS member states and all responsible members of the international community to explicitly condemn violations of international law by the United States and Israel,’ he said.

Later, Araghchi told the gathering that the UAE was ‘directly involved in the aggression against my country’, the Iranian semi-official Mehr news agency reported.

With deep divisions among some members over the war in the Middle East, it was not clear whether BRICS, which operates on consensus, would release a joint statement at the meeting’s end.

This a journalist rather than a military authority but he makes some interesting claims that Israel is stuck with no strategy generally, nor any defense against Hezbollah drones. Further, getting past the censors, Hezbollah can provide video of IDF retreats – from drones.  He brought up the previous retreat from Lebanon, years ago. So, this looks seminal. I wait to see solid reactions from the IDF – if they can’t find a way to overcome this assymetrical warfare

In London, how are the poor politicians supposed to  navigate the risk of getting locked up for 14 years under the Terrorism  Act for telling Starmer his unpopularity is because of his support of Nutter’s genocide?

In effect ,  the West has criminalised opposition to Israel,  to the extent that Emperor Trump can not be told that he has no clothes.

Never mind bonking on Epstein videos,  nobody is allowed to tell Trump what the whole world knows, that he’s  fucking arsehole, publicly ripping up the International Law that the US crafted after WW2.

When you cancel Law, you create War, not just dabble in Iranian Regime Change, but Revolution in every country and civilisation.
Trump has set the world alight in a temper tantrum at a small challenge to US authority.

This is the intention of the Talmudic Jews , to cancel International Law,  and replace it with Jewish Supremacy.

China is fully aware of the threat to World Peace of Zionism. The only thing they can do to help Trump is to protect him from the Talmudists, by helping Iran to defeat Israel.

They will be forced to either choose a Ground Invasion of Iran or Give up on any hope to stop Iranian uranium enrichment.

Hello. This kind of rhetoric is quite remarkable on MoA.

I believe it’s common knowledge, especially here, that the US and Israeli attacks on Iran have nothing to do with nuclear weapons.

Even in the US, those who listened to Tulsi Gabbard right after her appointment know that all their agencies concluded that Iran wasn’t seeking to acquire a nuclear bomb.
So why should Iran stop uranium enrichment that is its right under the NPT ?

The approach is also quite remarkable.
You say the administration will be “forced” to invade Iran?

Why wasn’t it “forced” to invade the USSR to prevent it from acquiring nuclear weapons? And China? And France? And Great Britain? And India? And Pakistan? And North Korea? And Israel?

Why, in all these cases, didn’t benevolent America feel “obligated” to intervene militarily?

But let’s ignore this blatant bad faith for a moment and talk logistics.

In what timeframe do you think the Trump administration could organize an invasion requiring at least a million troops, and how long would the operation, including replenishing arsenals, take?

Where would the staging and launch points be for entering Iran, and through which borders?
Where would the rear bases for supplies and rest be located?
From where would air support originate?
Where would the resources come from to maintain such a contingent for the period in question?

Need we remind those who may have forgotten that Iran has recently destroyed a number of bases and before that, Afghanistan and Iraq are no more occupied territories ?

So, why is it so important to spread and keep this fairy tale of “invasion” as a imminent possibility?

Hydrofluoric acid is better for dissolving humans, not a trace left over.

Some of you may be missing the point of a multi-acid digestion.  A hot solution of phenol in concentrated sulfuric is absolutely wicked, and will instantly dissolve anything protein based, muscle tissue, etc.  As for the bones left behind, it’s a tossup between perchloric acid or hydrofluoric.  Bones are mostly calcium phosphate.  A bit of shop wisdom from having worked in four different analytical labs, when work for geologists was otherwise scarce.

New has been slow for weeks now, with only some good videos of the Resistance destroying the genocidal maniacs in Southern Lebanon.  Eating my popcorn and waiting for Israels claimed attack to the Litani.  Thieir failed efforts will provide many videos.
US is still suppressing crude oil by selling the SPR barrels on the WTI futures.  Looks like they target $100/bbl.  SPR dropping around 8MM bbls/week.  Seems like an equilibrium point.  China has cut back on imports, living off their massive reserves and Russian oil, Russian oil is not sanctioned currently, providing bbls., Venezuela is no longer sanctioned providing about 1 MM bbls/day, and Saudi continues exporting to the Red Sea, and Iraq via Turkey.  This breaks when the SPR gets to low levels.  And $100/bbl means 10% inflation by this summer.  Annualized m-o-m PPI is around 16%.
Doomberg put out an interesting thesis.  He believes that the China trip means the fix is in.  Trump will have his off ramp.  It’s a credible theory.  The big problem is Lebanon, and I can’t see the talmud amolek nutters giving up on Lebensraum for Israel.  And Israel owns Trump.

Breathlessly reported by Trump’s Admin is — Trump says Xi pledged not to arm Iran; Trump said China agreed with the United States that Iran should not have a nuclear weapon.  China Govt announcements and official news media however do not repeat these outcomes from the summit.

I have reviewed many of the official Chinese announcements and the White House statements, and the situation is clear: there is a significant gap between what the Trump administration is claiming and what the Chinese government has officially confirmed.

Here is the breakdown of the facts based on the search results. The most telling evidence is what is missing from China’s official statements. Following the last Trump-Xi meeting in Beijing, the U.S. and China released their respective readouts. While the White House claimed broad agreement on Iran, China’s official statement from the Foreign Ministry did not mention Iran at all regarding nuclear weapons.

It focused on trade, diplomacy, and military relations but was “conspicuously silent” on Iran, the Strait of Hormuz, and nuclear weapons. China’s state news agency, Xinhua, did not mention President Xi’s reported remarks about the Strait of Hormuz in its official summary of the meeting.

China’s long-standing policy has consistently and publicly supported Iran’s right to a peaceful nuclear program while opposing military action. In the months leading up to the summit , Chinese officials explicitly stated that China “supports Iran’s legitimate right to the peaceful use of nuclear energy” and opposes “the threat of force and sanctions and pressure”.

After the meeting, China reiterated that it “supports a peaceful resolution of the Iranian nuclear issue through political and diplomatic means” and acknowledges that Iran has “no intention of developing nuclear weapons”. The Trump administration implies that China will actively help enforce this. However, China has explicitly stated that it opposes “unilateral sanctions” and “threats of force”.

China continues to act as a defender of Iran against US pressure, not as a partner in that pressure. You cannot find a Chinese official announcement confirming Trump’s claims because one does not exist.

While the White House says Xi agreed to stop arming Iran, the official Chinese readout omitted the pledge entirely. China’s official stance remains that the nuclear issue should be solved through talks and that Iran has a right to peaceful nuclear energy. The “agreement” appears to be an erroneous US interpretation of a general statement, not a verified diplomatic commitment from Beijing.

Of course there are more options always available to chemists, Aqua Regia comes to mind as well for dissolving gold where single acids alone have little ability to do that.  As a single acid however, Hydrofluoric is well known for dissolving human bodies compared to Sulfuric.

It was even used with  scientific accuracy in the US (somewhat chemistry orientated)  series Breaking Bad as the method par excellence of  disposing of bodies. Sometimes with humorous consequences, like in the early part of the series, Jesse Pinkman uses a bath tub to dissolve a body (since the plastic container he has is too small) not realising he’d dissolve the tub as well as the body, piercing a hole through the tub and floor thus allowing the liquids to leak through to the floor below in the house. There are always many ways to do things in chemistry.

@50 John

As is repeated here sometimes ‘BRICS is not a foreign policy stance’ …or something similar.

TBH I don’t think it ever proclaimed to be, media and supporters saw the line-up and just sort of assumed it would be, if not a counter to west, then an alternative position. In reality it seems more like an informal trade alliance that sort of ‘does its own thing’ regardless of wider geopolitical position of membed states. Understandable maybe , because they would all be fighting before even being sat down if ‘those other themes’ were placed as agenda.

So it’s nice and they agree.

That’s sort of positive I suppose, and they can then disagree at UN…but generally UN has also turned into ‘quite an agreeable place’ also , except for one “member” that is sometimes walk out on, regret and remorse for doing so then being displayed by voting in motions that support it.

So it’s all jolly, really.

I don’t scour the internet for details about who is doing saying what. Though long won expereince over decades tells me that leaking is a regular tactic for US governemnts, more than other nations use it.

Sure, now and then rogue leaks appear by would be anonymous whistle-blowers FBI deep throat comes to mind. But most of this stuff comes from Administration Officials, known to the reporters in people like Sec of State, Sec Def., Treasury, the White House Chief, DNI, of congressional leaders. They do so to support the rhetoric of the resident. It’s all propaganda made to appear legitimate and objective reporting when all it is is spin or lies enabled by dishonest journalists and their news media owners.

Occasionally they put their names to it, such as the stories about Russiagate and Hunter Bidens laptop. Loyally reporting officials lies from all sides is a pathway to career success. Whereas David Pakman is just another run of the mill biased (to a point of being brain dead) true believer pretending to be a Clark Kent standing up for the American Way. Nah, he’s just another loser in that space. Their preferred politics and economic ideology is besides the point here. It’s about the earn.

Which is why I religiously use Free uBlock Origin so both they and the cabal don’t make a dime out of my viewing habits.

Like living in the Sahel, you need to be IN the place to fully understand the subtelties. The distortions about Iran in US media have been going on for 47+ years now. Consistently. They were ramped up once the idea Iran was enriching uranium and reconstitutions the pre-1979 nuclear power stations that both Russia/USSR, Germany and USA too I think, had contracted to build, this time being taken over by Russia.

Once the propaganda in the media by WH officials and other politicians started on that issue – Iran building nuclear weapons – it has never stopped. A key reason why Obama had such a hard time doing the JPOAC negotiations with Europe and Russia, the backlash was enormous. Dial back to the 1990s and Clinton with Madeleine Albright had the same problem when they tried to resolves the conflict over Iran and the hostage taking hangover – he even apologised for the heavy sanctions – the backlash killed any detente and renewing diplomatic contacts.

It’s so bad and so distorted that the public believe all manner of fantasies. One being that for the last decade there’s a segment of the public who think Iran already has a nuclear weapon and they have ballistic missiles capable of hitting the US mainland. Not in the future but already. It’s madness from being brainwashed 24/7 and being stupid uneducated and gullible too.

There is something to be said that not having feet on the ground means you miss out on the subtleties of what is really going on and why it works so easily. Patience is required when speaking with people who have never set foot in the Sahel too.

Posted by: unsightfulviews | May 15 2026 1:16 utc | 74

Why it works? Because people go all over social media demanding the US invade Iran to sieze those nuclear armed misisles and destroy them so their children and their church will be safe from nuclear annihilation. Then the send emails and make phone calls to their Congresscritters demanding something be done – then lowlifes like John McCain and Lindsay Graham hold a presser for the nightly News Reports demanding the WH do something about this immediate danger to the American people – which gets them elected again.

It’s all 100% bullshit of course. And they all know it. But not the gullible public who vote. It’s a scam.

That would be a better than some of the things I have read that come in commercialised fortune cookies sometimes, but I have never had an authentic fortune cookie. I’m sure there would be a market for them if they are not already available somewhere. There are thousands of aphorisms in the Chinese language as you probably know, some of them with a strong Daoist influence so it would be great to get some of those these in cookies. Would be like edible I Ching. I guess because China is so old and had such a long ongoing civilisation, I have always seen it a repository of extraordinary wisdom.
