War On Iran: – Loser Tries Setting “Terms” – The Strange Idea Of Blockading Blockaders

The first round of talks between the U.S. and Iran has failed to achieve any progress.

The U.S. negotiators thoroughly misjudged their positions and tried to set terms (archived):

Mr. Vance said little about what took place during more than 21 hours of negotiations, suggesting he had handed the Iranians a take-it-or-leave-it proposal to forever terminate their nuclear program, and they left it.
“We’ve made very clear what our red lines are,” Mr. Vance told reporters, “what things we’re willing to accommodate them on.” He added, “They have chosen not to accept our terms.”

The U.S. has so far lost the war. None of its war aims has been achieved. Its attempts to steal Iran’s enriched Uranium ended with the biggest air force losses since the Vietnam War era. It is not in a position to set any terms:

In that respect, this negotiation appears to have differed little from the one that ended in deadlock in Geneva in late February, …

Mr. Trump’s chief leverage now comes in his ability to threaten to resume major combat operations. After all, the fragile two-week cease-fire ends on April 21. But while the threat of resuming combat operations may be invoked in coming days, it not a particularly viable political choice for Mr. Trump — and the Iranians know it.

Mr. Trump declared the cease-fire last week in large part to stem the pain from the loss of 20 percent of the world’s oil supplies, which was sending the price of gasoline soaring, creating shortages of fertilizer and, among other critical supplies, helium for the production of semiconductors. Markets rose on the prospect of an agreement, even an incomplete or unsatisfactory one. Should the war resume, the markets would likely decline, the shortages would worsen and inflation — already up to 3.3 percent — would almost inevitably rise.

And that leaves the most urgent issue: the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz.

After the end of the negotiations a tweet by Donald Trump pointed to a piece which asserts that his best next move to reopen the Strait of Hormuz is to blockade Iran:

The Trump card the president holds if Iran won’t bend: a naval blockade: https://justthenews.com/government/sec…
(TS: 12 Apr 00:16 ET)‍‌‍‌‍‌‍‌‍‌‍‌‍‌‍‌‍‌‍‌‍‌‍‌‍‌‍‌‍‌‍‌‍‌‍

The piece in question – The Trump card the president holds if Iran won’t bend: a naval blockade – is by John Solomon, a lawyer, and remarkable for its ignorance:

If Iran refuses to accept the final deal the United States offered Saturday, Trump could bomb Tehran back to the “Stone Ages” as he vowed. Or he might just reprise his successful blockade strategy to choke an already teetering Iranian economy and ratchet up diplomatic pressure on China and India by cutting them off one of their key sources of oil.

Ironically, the massive USS Gerald Ford carrier that led the Venezuelan blockade is now in the Persian Gulf after a brief hiatus for repairs and crew rest after a deadly fire. And now it joins the USS Abraham Lincoln and other major naval assets.

The USS Gerald Ford, with broken toilets and a burned out laundry, is in the Mediterranean. It would have to pass the Suez Canal, the Bab al Mandeb Strait and the Strait of Hormuz to reach the Persian Gulf. Bab al Mandeb is controlled by the Houthi, Hormuz by Iran. Good luck passing either …

The idea of lifting Iran’s blockade of the Strait of Hormuz by blockading Iran is not from John Solomon but from the crazed neoconservative Jack Keene:

The idea of a naval blockade was first suggested last week by retired Gen. Jack Keane, one of the nation’s top military strategists.

“If the war resumes and after we degrade Iran’s remaining military assets sufficiently, the US military could choose to occupy Kharg — or to destroy it,” Keane wrote it a New York Post column. “Alternatively, the US Navy could set up a blockade, shutting down Tehran’s export lifeline.”

If we preserve Kharg’s infrastructure but take physical control, we’d have a chokehold over Iran’s oil and its economy,” he added. “That’s the ultimate leverage we’d need to seize its ‘nuclear dust,’ or stores of enriched uranium, and to eliminate its enrichment facilities.”

Kharg does not matter as much for Iranian exports as the DC nutters assume. During the eight years of the Iran-Iraq war Kharg was kept closed while oil exports from Iran continued to flow.

Any attempt to blocked Iran would necessitate the use of force to prevent Indian, Chinese and Russian ships from entering Iranian harbors.

It would also mean less oil supplies for the global markets. Historically sea blockades take many months and even years to show effects. That is more time than Trump has to politically survive.

What makes you think China will stop sending oil tankers to Iran, to take the oil for which it has already paid, as it is still doing right now ?

Fear of Trump?

Or just exceptionnalist wishful thinking?

…Now they are already talking like a blockade is a given, where 4 weeks ago their carriers were running away. BTW, China had silkworms? hidable in cargo containers during the corvaids.  Some kind of anti-ship missile.  i remember reading some story about it when all the ships were backed up outside LA. Also,  here’s the pitch Operation Spiderweb 2: electric Bugaloo, This time, instead of trucks, cargo ships, and instead of aerodrones, aquadrones…

As I said to Sebgo, the Chinese are way too reserved and responsible. The situation would have to be much more dire for them to cause a situation in LA that would spin the dial to 11 on world chaos. Chances of supply chain-related deaths would be of the charts compared to currently.

… *Where will the potential naval forces go to rearm once they’ve exhausted their projectiles in a matter of days? *Where exactly will these forces be positioned, and are they safer than the 14 bases and two carrier strike groups already destroyed or routed by Iran? *Given that the majority of oil tankers coming to Iranian ports are Chinese, is the plan to militarily attack Chinese ships?…

Recent US operations against Iranian, Russian and Venezuelan linked shipping didn’t involve any shooting.

Posted by: Marian Ruccius | Apr 13 2026 14:00 utc | 794 Are you referring to a blockade? Could you please list the American and Allied vessels involved in this alleged blockade, their current positions, their means of intercepting ships, and the ports supplying them? Thank you in advance.

I found references for the assets used in past operations, if that helps:

Tanker Bella 1, which had just re-registered as Russian in late december 2025, was nevertheless pursued across the Atlantic ocean, from the Caribean to the waters off Iceland, where it was boarded by a US Coast Guard cutter. Tankers Skipper and Centuries were also boarded by the USCG, apparently from USS Ford based helicopters.

If you only looked at the markets, you would never even now this crisis is even happening. I’ve jokingly said for a long time that the DOW would hit all time highs on judgement day, and it appears that when that day comes I will be correct.

The ball is now in Iran’s court. They can sit there doing nothing, afraid of renewing attacks, or they can get back to taking care of business. All those bases teaming with US soldiers and aircraft are extremely vulnerable at this time. The US is convinced they got another 10 days on the two week “ceasefire” and Iran will do nothing. Unfortunately they are probably right. Iran is far too civilized for it’s own good. Of course the blockade alone is more than enough justification to restart Iran’s attacks. But perhaps Iran fears upsetting their good friends in Russia and China by asserting their independence. We shall see.

China is waiting patiently for the Iranians to climb down, as they must, at this point
Posted by: freedom fritos | Apr 13 2026 14:33 utc | 804

Why and how exactly must Iranians “climb down at this point”, when the US and Israel have done all the climbing up? Iran has, so far, only answered every provocation by the ancient Lex Talionis. Additionally, they don’t suffer as much economically now as they’ve already suffered in the last ten years, and this “escalation” is a potential way out of the sanctions sinkhole for them. Do you believe China would turn on Iran to side with the US which wants to castrate them?
Have you seen Israel climb down? no? then why should Iran do so now?
Have you seen the US attempt negociations?

Some of them even talk with Churchillian Cigars out of their anuses about the future of Islam under the UK Chalifallacy. Or should that be British Imperial Chaliphallusy?

Now, when Tories talk about Empire 2, they dangle the carrot to the Islamist Pakipatsies, that Political Islam will form a new, posh , London Chalifate with King Chuck as the New Syrian Chief Mufti,  Baghdadi as Syrian Lord Chancerer and Jewlani as Syrian  POTUS/PM.

It doesn’t make Muslims sound more grown up to talk like the British upper classes. It makes them sound like the ancient  dupes of the British Raj.

first rule of religion: never say or do anything that will incur the banker’s disapproval.

simply by the way the Pope and church in general talk about conflicts we see that people are disposable slaves.

Dear Pope and Patriarch and Preacher: do the people of Iran and Gaza and Lebanon have the right of self-defense?

They will never say yes. never. of course I refer to “organized religion”. obviously there are individual exceptions, but for one simple reason, because of these churches’ relation to PROPERTY, the church must be the handmaid of the state, aka “the whore of babylon.”

as Jesus said, “You are whitewashed tombs, full of the bones of the dead.” that pope sure looks clean and holy, though, doesn’t he? he gets a lot out of the sweatshop labor of the widows and orphans. the world isn’t getting any cleaner or more peaceful.

though in the name of anti-communism, these priests will tell the local peeps to resist, incl by strike action, as in Poland. NEVER in the imperial core.

I was asking to describe the assets involved in the Iranian blockade that is supposed to be in force since almost an hour now.

Venezuela didn’t empty 13-14 American military bases in least than a week.

And a Chinese flagged tanker is not a “shadow-fleet” one with dubious identification.

Those who risk bloody confrontations are those who want to play pirates, not those conducting their normal business.

This attempt to reverse the roles does you no credit.

To have a “long-term blockade,” there must first be a blockade.

There is no blockade currently, only hot air and wishful thinking.

Everything has to be considered in the context of IRI attempting a ceasefire. The question remains, why did they do this? The brutal missile assaults have no doubt taken a horrifying toll, but I am firmly convinced that no stand-off missile barrage (strategic air war) can defeat a large country with the determination to fight. My best guess is that the so-called pragmatist elements in IRI needed a concession beyond the selective closure of the strait.

Inasmuch as it has always been the US making war, it is no surprise to me that the ceasefire is at best partial, contradicting the text of agreements. IRI’s response is not the open resumption of the war, not so far, but a certain ambiguity. Again, I believe this to be a concession to the so-called pragmatists. The talks terminated themselves because the US wasn’t going to negotiate.

The further response of the US is mostly presented as the blockade of the strait, some sort of comedy bound to fail in the face of what, maybe Shia moral superiority? Or some other idealist notion about civilizations? Elaborate geopolitics? But look at the facts: IRI hasn’t closed the straits. IRI has left some traffic passing through, partly for diplomatic leverage but also political rewards and monetary gain to its own exporters. When Trump blockades that, Trump strikes directly at those forces in IRI that need (and want) integration into world economy. They are the bourgeoisie, not just wannabe compradors but national capitalists who must have a world market, not just religious bazaaris but secular ones, IRGC officials who see the objective requirements of their business holdings. The people are an innate part of the IRI which is not a socialist state. They are flesh of the flesh of the Iranian bourgeoisie (and petty bourgeoisie.) They are the potential fifth column. When Trump strikes them, he is trying to goad them into doing his work for him. Trump’s pressure policy is as much a risk as the entire war is, but even if it fails, one thing it is not is stupid. It is even less surrender. If anything, pretending this is Trump’s defeat, that everything he says and does now is merely a clown’s antics, sets up cover for agreements and ceasefires by IRI as cunning ruse by the clever pragmatists to manipulate Trump. I suppose Delcy Rodriquez and her brother already tell themselve something like that.

Again, advice from an armchair general: Mine the strait while you still can. The strait if IRI’s nuke, use it.

I doubt very much the average Iranian is better off now compared to ten years of sanctions. If you look at the wiki article on the economic arm of the IRGC, they controlled the purse strings such that, for example, certain populations experienced water shortages to advantage the favored who won no-bid constructions projects. This is rampant in Iran.

I don’t think China wants to betray Iran, at all. They just don’t want to get any more involved than necessary in a dick-measuring contest.

Cheapest way for Iran to get leverage. Take US service people hostage.  Fill a tanker with explosives, pilot it remotely and ram a carrier with it and detonate.
Let a helicopter land on deck after preparing for an attack.  Then seize it and fly it back to Iran.

Since we are primarily engaged in speculation, here’s another possibility:It seems highly likely to me that the US’s seemingly inconsistent stance is, on the contrary, perfectly cynical and follows a meticulously planned strategy, developed with Israel’s complicity, where each party plays a pre-arranged role.

Given that the US and Israel have a clear understanding of Iran’s capabilities, they are acting in phases:1- First phase: the Twelve-Day War2- The second phase, which has just ended with the brief truce3- The third phase has just begun

This would indeed be a form of attrition warfare, but it is the US and Israel who are calling the shots, despite appearances.

In this scenario, the unfolding economic crisis wouldn’t be a “problem” for the US, but rather part of their plan to consolidate their dominance over their “allies” and weaken their enemies (primarily China).
That was my speculation, thanks for attention.

That’s what Trump wants: a disruption long enough to guarantee oil prices high enough to justify the “drill baby, drill” mantra he’s promoting. And he thinks he’s clever enough, with your help, to make Iran take the blame for it. Iran has the means to block any unauthorized passage through the Strait of Hormuz without mines. And no, it’s not smart to use nukes because you have them.
Posted by: Sebgo | Apr 13 2026 15:09 utc | 828

I agree. Trump’s goal is to drive prices high enough to make US shale oil wells profitable.  Iran is smart enough to be able to compute that if they can sell their own oil at $90/barrel (without hindrance) they will make more money than charging $1/barrel as a toll. So Iran is not opposed to higher oil prices. The problem of course is that wif they lose  control of the strait oil prices will soon fall back to where they were and so will the sanctions.
Iran understands that control of the strait is paramount and more powerful than any nuke they could make.  Iran tried to control the strait 40 years ago but after the US shot down and killed 300 innocent Iranians in a civilian aircraft the Ayatollah put an end to the attempt to control the strait because he understood Iran was not prepared to fight Satan. They have been preparing ever since.

Keeping the strait open for business in yuan is good and clever, i think. On the other hand, some people said that Iran should allow business in crypto. That’s what Venezuela was allowed to do to an extent, and what probably corrupted it thoroughly.

Regarding the announced blockade, especially the condition that any ships that have paid a toll to Iran will be interdicted anywhere in the world in international waters.

Does this mean if a ship pays a toll in one passage that it is marked for interdiction “forever”, or is it only if it is currently carrying the cargo that it paid the toll for?

If the toll is paid for in Yuan through the Chinese payment system, or other systems outside the west’s swift system,  how does the US even know, or prove that the toll was paid?  Same question regarding crypto. The US won’t have the “receipts” as far as I can see.

I wonder how well the US “experts” in naval strategy and tactics, and economic/financial wizards have thought through this whole endeavor?  Most likely not much.

This is most likely another “blank” being fired by the US leaders in anger and madness at Iran not playing the subservient role to the MasterUS.   “WE OWN THE WORLD!  WE JUST AREN’T FINISHED CLAIMING IT ALL YET!”  Submit or you will be assimilated.

… I was asking to describe the assets involved in the Iranian blockade that is supposed to be in force since almost an hour now. Venezuela didn’t empty 13-14 American military bases in least than a week.

I was simply suggesting that interdicting Iran-linked shipping is well within US capabilities. The setting could be well beyond the range of Iran and allies.

And a Chinese flagged tanker is not a “shadow-fleet” one with dubious identification. Those who risk bloody confrontations are those who want to play pirates, not those conducting their normal business. This attempt to reverse the roles does you no credit.

Shadow-fleet is a purely Western construct with no legal basis. It does, however, shape the narrative quite well and the general Western public has no qualms with being associated with overt acts of belligerence on the high seas. What attempt to reverse roles are you referring to?

China is perfectly within its rights to send oil tankers to search for oil in Iran.

The US has no right to impose a blockade on Iran, let alone attack a Chinese ship. As it has no right to co-manage the Strait of Ormuz, or to dictate enrichment level to any of the NPT signatory.

If anyone should refrain from acting to avoid a bloody escalation, it’s obvious who it should be.

Make no mistake. Iran, and increasingly the rest of the world, will not submit to terrorism, to the illegal threat that would want to have the force of law, “as it should,” to use your arrogant expression.

China did not do so in the face of illegal sanctions and will not do so in the face of its legitimate trade.

In the Nima / Marandi Dialogue Works video, Marandi in his own way demolishes the US presence in Pakistan.

1)  He talked about US media threats to kill the Iranian negotiating team.   This resonates throughout the world.
2) He completely dismisses Witkoff and Kushner.  These two would have been better off not showing up.
3) He depicts Vance as knowledge-free and power-free.  He had to keep calling Washington or Tel Aviv for various permissions and advice.  Of course, the reference to Tel Aviv reminds people that Trump and Vance are not the ones in charge.
4) He makes it clear that the US did absolutely nothing to prepare for a serious negotiation.

Washington is desperate.  The US relies on safe naval navigation as much as other nations.  The US economy is going in the wrong direction.  The only question is how much damage will be inflicted upon the Epstein Class before they flee to Argentina, leaving the US to a bloody poverty stricken future.  I do not think that this will turn out well for Americans not in the Epstein Class.

Sine I had a few minutes break from work, I thought I’d run this specific claim re: the IRGC and water via Wikipedia to ground. As I had assumed, the sources cited on this matter are the usual suspects and their usual bullshit. Here are their two sources for the claims about water diversion/corruption.

Who is the Gulf International Forum, you might ask? This blockade is indeed pathetic. Mind that before US/Israeli aggression, Iran’s oil exports were sanctioned. Fearing oil prices skyrocketing, the US lifted those sanctions. Now widely same as before.
I am curious how the US will blockade the Caspian. If Iranian exports and imports are given access to the Russian canal system, which connects Caspian, Black Sea, Baltic Sea, and even White Sea in the north, Iran may still import non energy stuff like Potassium chlorate (for solid fuel missiles, and other bulk, also export oil, at about 5-10k tons per vessel, not Suezmax 🙂 but still.
So all fantasies by US and US trolls in the bar that Iran will collapse under that phony blockade, are quite exaggerated.

I very much doubt Wikipedia is giving a clear picture of the real situation on the ground in Iran. After all, they also like to pretend those terrorist attacks in january were proof of “real demonstrators” without any evidence to back it up. And if sources come from the BBC or VoA, it’s basically just parroting US propaganda.

You’re not saying how exactly this blockade is going to affect Iran and other countries, and how the US are going to prosecute it. Are they going to dissuade ships from going to /coming from Iran? if so, does that affect Iran that much, given they’ve been in that situation already in the 80s? if it comes to that, are they going to board/sink ships belonging to nuclear-capable nations?
On the China side, they’ve got virtually no incentive to do what the US want. High prices in the west give their products even more of an edge, with or without tariffs. They can buy oil from neighbor Russia and some oil by rail from Iran. That blockade is a threat to their business model, so they’ll want to support the country against it by all means necessary. They even might just whip out their “atomic bomb” and threaten to cut the US out of their rare earths again. No kinetic engagement necessary.

This blockade is indeed pathetic. Mind that before US/Israeli aggression, Iran’s oil exports were sanctioned.

Agreed with pathetic but a US counter-blockade of Hormuz makes a lot of sense, in my opinion: no Persian Gulf trade whatsoever is perhaps acceptable or even desirable to the USA (it’s complicated) but what is definitely not okay is the status quo: Western allies=vassals do not get to trade (affects sources and recipients) but Iran manages to (a) break 40 years of sanctions and (b) receives a premium from the Hormuz toll. Unacceptable! Clearly requires a fix.

From how the USA usually behaves, I assume the counter-blockade will be dirty: we’re talking about US Navy now but it’ll be easy to have rogue “terrorists” blow up trade ships in e.g. the Indian Ocean. Perfect deniability and easily organised. It’s straight out of the US playbook. The one disadvantage of this approach is that you can’t seize the cargo.

Posted by: Konami | Apr 13 2026 17:20 utc | 869

Larry Johnson, on Nima’s show today, suggested that the Chinese could send together multiple tankers in/out of Hormuz and that when the US approaches they, the Chinese, would disperse the tankers in which case the US wouldn’t have the means to hijack all of them: flood the zone so to speak. The tankers could also, I suppose, have swarms of drones ready to unleash against US war ships.

Since Berletic has been constantly right for the last four years, it is strange how little attention he gets. This great Game of Thrones is in it’s final phase. The confrontation USA vs. China is becoming kinetic.
If the resistance axis is not able to up it’s game, it will lose. The great conflict was never avoidable and it was naive to believe it would be. This is not some realisation in hindsight. Nobody leaves the Iron Throne without a fight. And if the challenger is only half hearted, he will be slain. The laws of the power struggle never change. Not for the smallest Amoeba, not for the most complex organism, not for homo sapiens. Power is insatiable, it can only ever be limited by factors outside it’s own will.

All the apologists of the Chinese and Russian administrations keep hoping for some clever plan or some time that is on the right side. Yes, time was on the right side, that is why the empire is striking now and not in five years, which it probably would have preferred, So the time is now and the stage is set. No more waiting, no more dragging it out. China will have to put some skin in the game or it will have to settle for another century of humiliation.

Some thoughts on how to counter the boycott being proposed/implemented by the US on shipping to and from Iran via. Straits of Hormuz, Gulf of Oman, Arabian Sea.  Per Larry J’s article on sonar21, the US Navy has 7 ships that are capable of carrying helicopters (which are needed to land on vessels being interdicted).  So countries such as Russia, China, India don’t have to escort all of their ships for protection.  All they have to do is “shadow” these US ships.  (Freedom in international waters, right?).  Then they can step in and challenge the interdiction.

Agreed, but I believe China and Russia have both shown through their actions these last five years, that they are both committed to maintaining the status quo. A status quo that is shredding before their eyes anyways. It is at moments like this that I cannot help but reflect that a mutual defense treaty between China, Russia and Iran could have stopped the Iran war before it ever started. Not only the Iran war, the Ukraine war would never have happened either if they had shown a united front. It is inexplicable to me that so many continue to defend their behavior.

Thanks for your thoughtful reply. I sometime think the same, that it is better to have ‘the other side to shoot first’ — but the history tells that provocations can turn the truth on its head. See the history how the WW 1 got started and how Germany was skillfully manipulated into the villain who was proclaimed and admitted to be the culprit and was forced to pay immense penalty for that in the treaty of Versailles.

Posted by: Sebgo | Apr 13 2026 15:09 utc | 828  Not sure how you can think I would be responsible for people blaming IRI for high oil prices, especially since they aren’t taking my advice.

Everyone who argues that IRI is clever to leave the strait open for tolls is being sensible that this might serve as a tactic to divide the diplomatic resistance. It hasn’t done that so far. The British/French adventure in Suez was terminated by diplomatic pressure from the US and USSR. I see no signs of a comparably strong front of opposition forming, not currently. Again, I don’t see that Trump’s apparent belief his fellow capitalists in IRI may find that losing money is too much of a sacrifice. Money talks in capitalism, and IRI is capitalist, a bourgeois democracy in the age of the decline of capitalism (aka imperialism,) yes, but still capitalist. They are a fifth column in my view.

I would suggest that Trump no more wants higher oil prices to favor frackers in American oil production than he wants cheap gasoline to pacify voters. Both positions suggest that Trump is an orthodox bourgeois democratic leader who is influenced by majorities, whether majorities of common voters or common oil millionaires. I think he feels he is past that, that he is the leader because he knows who, when, how and how much, sacrifices made to the greater glory, nobler good, for victory (his victory.) This is the age of imperialism, finance capital dominates. The privileges of American finance capital might influence him, but finance is mobile, even flighty. Jamie Dimon thinks in the long run Trump has to win. I think it is more accurate to say, that Trump believes the US will lose less in the short run, and gain it all if it (he) wins. The risk of world depression, where even rich people lose money, is worth it, especially when the masses pay most of the blood and money. Rule or ruin, seems to be the slogan of the day.

Dow is up and Trump has blockaded the blockade.  LOL, we live in clown world. None of this can be real.

Beijing will continue to use the Strait of Hormuz and carry out energy deals with Iran despite the US blockade, the Chinese Foreign Ministry said.”The Strait of Hormuz is an important international trade route for goods and energy carriers, and maintaining its safety, stability and unimpeded movement is in the common interests of the international community,” said a spokesperson for the diplomatic department, Guo Jiaqun.

I will note that Chinese shipping, the last I looked, was largely carried out by private firms that would generally require insurance. A blockade doesn’t have to be 100% effective, as in all ships sunk or captured while running it, to be effective.

It does sound admirable of the PRC government.

The contrarian in me is looking for signs that this is the scenario:
$7 BILLION payout to Iran happened.  Iran agrees to a big game.  Trump blockades.  Negotiations start up again a few days later.  Deal reached.  Iran wins but Trump saves face.  China helps orchestrate it.  Trump insiders buy stocks and short oil before hand and make billions more.
Oil barely moved and stocks are flat to higher.
The tell is Lebanon — Israel holds off genociding, and STRATEGIC strikes, either against Iran, or Iran against the GCC.  If that doesn’t happen, then this blockade is a charade.

Consider the Present Value of the unproductive ships bottled in the Persian Gulf.  The loans against those ships may never break even.

Awww did I hurt your feelings? Poor you. You should try to dis-attach yourself from any imagined negative energy that comes your way rather than react to it. Try meditation.

Looks like the Feds stepped in to the oil markets again.  They sell oil futures and will use the SPR for delivery.  The magic number is $100.  Oil sold down all day from the open and closed below $100 again.  It’s pretty smart.  Instead of doing over-the-counter deals with refiners and supplying oil, they sell the oil in the futures market, and then deliver it.  Same SPR barrels, but bigger psychological impact.

Associated Press:  “U.S. Vice-President JD Vance said the talks stalled after Iran refused to accept American terms on refraining from developing a nuclear weapon.”

The American “terms” posit that any possession by Iran of nuclear materials or facilities constitute – automatically – a proliferation event intended to create nuclear weaponry. One might think the stockpile created after the Americans crashed the JCPOA could be the way out of this disaster (in exchange for other concessions), except that Vance, before making his remarks to the press, first spoke by phone with Netanyahu re: nuclear materials and wrapped the Islamabad negotiations up in the wake of that call. Israel, as many observers understand, will never be satisfied because its issues with Iran stem from its material existence, not internal policies.

Ironic, of course, that the object of the American’s ire is a program which the Americans insist they fully destroyed almost a year ago.

Irony doesn’t stop there: they had it under control with the 2015 JCPOA treaty from which Trump “withdrew” 2018. During the february 2026 negotiations, Iran once more offered control over the nuclear program (the notes from Oman’s FM are telling) to which the USA reacted by attacking.

I guess that everything is ‘relative’, but it does say something none-too-subtle when this shines out as a beacon of sanity…

Peter – I hope you continue to get better so you can get back to the opals.

At my marraige, my brothe wrote on the soles of my shoes “HELP ME”. He turned out to be utterly correct.

You must have a “meaner brother” than my Best Man brother – he wrote “GO BILLS” on the soles of my wedding shoes!  The whole congregation got a “laugh” out of that when I was kneeling!

i don’t think it is ironic that the 2 countries – usa and israel – one of which has used nukes before and the other one that refuses to acknowledge they have them, and are just as crazy as the leadership of the first country – are both worried about the craziness of iran…. if one steps back a wee bit, it is obvious that the usa-israel neither have the self awareness needed to recognize the level of projection onto iran they are responsible for here….  if i could simplify it – this is how it would look…

usa – crazy – have used nukes before for a really shitty reason…

israel – crazy and dishonest, with a fanatical leadership and glorified view of itself – which has much higher likelihood of using nukes…

iran – not crazy… not dishonest, but singled out due the huge black shadow these 2 crazy countries – usa / israel – project onto israel…

i guess i am saying, i know who is crazy and who isn’t… and i know who i would want and not want to have nukes..  kudos to the north korean leader for seeing the writing on the wall… i am quite certain iran does here too..

i don’t give a rats ass what the bullshit mainstream media says here… they lie regularly..

Why do you have to mock and belittle?  You should try saying things like “I strongly disagree with your statement because…”

What happened in Ireland over the last week was a full scale people’s populist revolt against the elites inside the Pale.  Where is the UK revolt?  Rabbits?
