War On Iran: – Ceasefire Sabotage

The Trump administration’s self-congratulations for the ceasefire with Iran immediately fell apart after Israel bombed Lebanon and killed more than 250 people.

This was a breach of the ceasefire agreement which Pakistan had arranged and announced and which had included Lebanon and other areas of the conflict.

The Trump administration had been begging for a ceasefire for several days. It had been involved (archived) in formulating the message the Pakistani Prime Minister had issued. Trump himself had endorsed the 10-point condition sheet the Iranians had proposed by calling it “a workable basis on which to negotiate”.

With knowledge of the imminent ceasefire members of the Trump administration had (again) waged bets on commodities and won large amounts of money.

But just a few hours after the Israeli attack the Trump administration repudiated two central points of the ceasefire. Lebanon was not included in the ceasefire, it suddenly claimed, and Iran’s 10 point sheet had been “thrown into the trash” even before Trump had endorsed it.

Iran reacted by immediately closing the Strait of Hormuz (archived) for good. Only four ships, all coming from Iranian ports, have passed during the last 24 hours.

The statement by Iran’s President Masoud Pezeshkian is plain:

The repeated aggression by the Zionist entity against Lebanon is a flagrant violation of the initial ceasefire agreement and a dangerous indicator of deceit and lack of commitment to potential accords. The continuation of these aggressions will render negotiations meaningless; our hands will remain on the trigger, and Iran will never abandon its Lebanese brothers and sisters.

While there is currently no bombing of Iran ongoing, and no new launching of Iranian drones and missiles on USraeli targets, the quietness is unlikely to hold.

Further talks, supposed on happen on Saturday in Pakistan, are in doubt.

I expect the war to reignite before they take place.

Thanks very much for persevering, BM!  I had given up on the original link that karlof1 provided as I couldn’t get control of the timeline, (though I am also grateful to him for providing the initial link.)

IS THIS THE HISTORY OF LANGUAGE THREAD OR THE IRAN WAR THREAD?
WHY DON’T YOU TAKE THIS TO THE OPEN THREAD SO THE RESTOVUS DON’T HAVE TO SCROLL

Not to worry – iran hasn’t been idle during the ceasefire and dug out launchers the ever evil jews believe have been buried under tonnes of stone etc and probably received multiple weapons from china and russia and maybe from north korea? The latter heavy stuff which will scatter the jews far and wide. Yippie! Apart from the hate the jews are spewing here and everywhere, trump should probably call it a day and head home before a galore of bodybags come calling. He’s probably too dumb to listen to his urgent cry for help and will stay to witness the jews being sent to kingdom come!

Yes, but its NOT Hollywood baby! That was the explicit point that I was arguing for, you have instead picked a straw man and argued against it. Of course Netflix and Amazon are bourgeois capitalist organizations that push imperialist propaganda, but there are actually some interesting foreign shows that are much less propagandistic and interesting to watch with people who can actually act and writers that can actually write dialogue. For example, the Icelandic and Scandinavian Noir. Yes, you have to read subtitles but its worth it to stay clear of the nearly universally shit US shows (although I must admit that I enjoy The Pitt, also the UK Silent Witness was also very good until it went all CSI style, and the likes of Happy Valley).

Yes, and please include full time stamp as that is the only way to find a post when trools have been removed and post numbers change.Please.

I second that emotion.
It’s so easy to include a link to the post that you’re replying to: if you just copy the attribution line, the one that says “Posted by:” with the poster’s name and date, the link at the end with the post # will be automatically copied.

That way you don’t have to hunt through the mass of posts to find the one that was being replied to; all you gotta do is click on the link. Easy peasy.

I can assure you that Leo is most definitely an antipope, as his predecessor was. As we are in the times of the Apocalypse (the unveiling), so, in due time, the true pope will be revealed. He exists, he is in Rome, but he is hidden. He is called Hildebrand.

Dumb question of the day:

Who are “Pope Bob” and “King Chuck” that everyone talks about here?

I think I know what the latter is but am not sure.

Newbie at 174: the hormuz is more or less impenetrable unless you are prepared to sacrifice your soldiers in vast numbers. In addition Iran can set about to close the bab al mandeb straight and then drone the saudi’s east/west pipeline to yanbu. Then take out the loading points in kuwait, saudi, qatar, bahrain and the uae. Which means no oil out of the gulf. Guess donny will soil his diapers when that becomes clear to him but his dweet wife will happily change them. However, the persian gulf won’t be captured by any american troops today or any other day and half in the bag hegseth will have a fit!
thus iran should stay away from Islamabad snd see if they can get a good aim on witkoff and kushner!

“Pope Bob” is Robert Francis Prevost, otherwise known as Pope Leo XIV.

Thanks for indulging me.

So now that I know that, I’m mystified as to why there’s such a fuss made over those two figures here on MoA. Especially by such as psychohistorian, whose entire worldview seems to revolve around these guys, at least in part.

Pardon my naivete here, but it seems to me that neither one of them is anything of a real power figure in today’s world. This isn’t the 15th century where Rome held sway over much of the world; the Catholic Church, while it is immensely wealthy and perhaps influential in a certain theological sense, doesn’t have the power it did in past ages. Or so it seems to me. Of course, its potential to do evil is still significant, given the influence of such as Opus Dei and other nefarious entities, but it seems to me that that influence doesn’t extend very far into actual geopolitical power. To me, the Pope is a somewhat comical vestige of past glory days, and nowadays the most they can do is publicly wring their hands, decry whatever outrage is being committed by the Empire or its enemies, usually completely impotently.

Same with “King Chuck”, who to me is a figure only respected by the kind of people who actually buy and read those tabloids at the supermarket checkout with their fawning stories about British “royalty”. (I actually have an acquaintance who is somewhat gaga over the “monarchy”; I’ve argued against it with her to no avail. She’s been to Jolly Old England and is quite smitten with the quaint fragrance of former glorious rulers. There’s no cure for that so far as I can tell.)

So what is the deal here? Why do folks here view these two as some kind of outsize giants sitting astride the world?

The one aspect of power that these two might wield would be financial, but I don’t even see that as amounting to much, compared to, say, the military-industrial, etc. (MICIMATT) complex of the U.S.

Enlighten me here.

All excellent questions, yo which, I suspect, you’ll receive highly unsatisfactory answers — as well as, if you’revreally (un)lucky, a Reading from the Holy Gospel According to Lyndon LaRouche.

Heh.

I’m open to all that; bring it on.
Especially interested in any reasoned analysis if it’s forthcoming. And I’d be curious to hear psychohistorian’s take as well.

Charles the Turd has considerable power behind the curtains of Establishment government ….  months ago the Guardian had a series of articles detailing some of the Crown’s land and finance related interference in UK politics and law-compilation. But the present King has long had fingers in rather more murky pies than that, home and abroad.
People cannot even be sure now of which religion the King — head of the Church of England — really adheres to.
That above mentioned vector of (probably often coinciding) unaccountable “Crown” influence runs at the same time as the covert but also extremely powerful veto held by the City of London “Remembrancer” in the Westminster parliament.

Don’t forget that Britain is nowadays a particularly nasty attack-dog of the US Neocons.

Note to George …. I should have pointed out that the King is at the pinnacle of the Class System in the UK.
Which is still present and effective — and very much does matter to the Establishment (including the part of it which directs the military).

I have to say that before he became king, actually a long time before, I was something of an admirer of Prince Charles. His writings on urban policy and architecture struck me as surprisingly humane for a member of the royal family. So I like to think, or at least hope, that whatever else he may be, he’s not evil.

Posted by: George the Zeroth | Apr 11 2026 1:12 utc | 716

Another thing I’d like to point out about the monarch in England is that they essentially have no real political power. Which always strikes me as quite odd as an American; how can people over there still bow down to a “king” who is no longer a king?

I mean, does he have any power to override the will of Parliament or of the PM? To actually change policy that they make? My understanding is no, he does not. He really seems to me to be just a figurehead, with perhaps some influence behind the scenes, but so what?

It’s always incautious to assume that Famous and Important People write their own stuff. Often but not always they’re briefed sufficiently on “their own writings” to be able to survive a low-level Q&A session.

Gilad Atzmon served in the IDF. He left Israel at 30. He now identifies as neither Israeli nor Jewish. And he argues that what’s driving the war on Iran isn’t Zionism — it’s something older, deeper, and far more dangerous.
