War On Iran: – April Ceasefire – A Tick Tock Of Statements And Comments

Trump has chickened out from his threat of committing a genocide in Iran by agreeing to a ceasefire based on Iran’s 10 point declaration.

The war isn’t over.

Israel will do its best to sabotage the ceasefire by all means.

If Trump really wants to stop losing the war he had started on advice of Netanyahoo (archived) he will have to throw him under a bus.

The Secretary for War Crimes Pete Hegseth and others who had urged for the war will be made scapegoats for this defeat.

An attempt to tick-tock what happened:

Minutes before the launch of the genocide he had threatened Trump chickened out.

Arash Azisi: Direct talks between Ghalibaf and Vance in the last few hours made the ceasefire agreement possible — sources in Tehran tell me.

At 23:50 UTC the Foreign Prime Minister of Pakistan Shahbaz Sharif announced a ceasefire:

With the greatest humility, I am pleased to announce that the Islamic Republic of Iran and the United States of America, along with their allies, have agreed to an immediate ceasefire everywhere including Lebanon and elsewhere, EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY.

I warmly welcome the sagacious gesture and extend deepest gratitude to the leadership of both the countries and invite their delegations to Islamabad on Friday, 10th April 2026, to further negotiate for a conclusive agreement to settle all disputes. …

The original statement was probably written by someone else.

Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi issued a Statement on behalf of the Supreme National Security Council of the Islamic Republic of Iran

Trump conceded defeat:

Based on conversations with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Asim Munir, of Pakistan, and wherein they requested that I hold off the destructive force being sent tonight to Iran, and subject to the Islamic Republic of Iran agreeing to the COMPLETE, IMMEDIATE, and SAFE OPENING of the Strait of Hormuz, I agree to suspend the bombing and attack of Iran for a period of two weeks. This will be a double sided CEASEFIRE! The reason for doing so is that we have already met and exceeded all Military objectives, and are very far along with a definitive Agreement concerning Longterm PEACE with Iran, and PEACE in the Middle East. We received a 10 point proposal from Iran, and believe it is a workable basis on which to negotiate. Almost all of the various points of past contention have been agreed to between the United States and Iran, but a two week period will allow the Agreement to be finalized and consummated. On behalf of the United States of America, as President, and also representing the Countries of the Middle East, it is an Honor to have this Longterm problem close to resolution. Thank you for your attention to this matter! President DONALD J. TRUMP
(TS: 07 Apr 18:32 ET)‍‌‍‌‍‌‍‌‍‌‍‌‍‌‍‌‍‌‍‌‍‌‍‌‍‌‍‌‍‌‍‌‍‌‍

The full statement by the Supreme National Security Council of IranPressTV write up.

Iran’s position has slightly softened. The 10 points Iran issued yesterday are slightly different from the 10 points now mentioned in the PressTV piece (Lebanon is now missing(?!) but lifting of ALL sanctions against Iran) (There also seem to be differences on enrichment in the Farsi and English versions of the latest 10 points issued.)

Nevertheless:

Poète dubitatif @evil_SDOC – 23:56 UTC · Apr 7, 2026

If this is it really, Trump will have saved face at a cost of strategic defeat to the US, because negotiations based on the Iranians’ 10 points, together with interim Iranian control of Hormuz for the duration of the cease fire definitely means Iran has won.

White House press statement:

This is a victory for the United States that President Trump and our incredible military made happen.
From the very beginning of Operation Epic Fury, President Trump estimated this would be a 4-6 week operation.
Thanks to the unbelievable capabilities of our warriors, we have achieved and exceeded our core military objectives in 38 days.
More on that tomorrow morning from @SecWar and Chairman Caine!
The success of our military created maximum leverage, allowing President Trump and the team to engage in tough negotiations that have now created an opening for a diplomatic solution and long-term peace.
Additionally, President Trump got the Strait of Hormuz reopened.
Never underestimate President Trump’s ability to successfully advance America’s interests and broker peace.

Sarcastic comment by AmCon’s Andrew Day:

The Strait of Hormuz was closed for 47 years by the Mad Mullahs of Iran. But tonight, Donald Trump opened it.

As very positive sign Trump reposted Araghchi’s statement on his Truth Social account.

Trump’s victory statement:

…Big money will be made. Iran can start the reconstruction process. We’ll be loading up with supplies of all kinds, and just “hangin’ around” in order to make sure that everything goes well. I feel confident that it will. Just like we are experiencing in the U.S., this could be the Golden Age of the Middle East!!!

Netanyahoo falsely claims that the ceasefire “does not include Lebanon”.

The opposition leader in Israel is furious about this defeat.

Various comments:
Mark Ames:

Trump’s insanely stupid & evil war ends in perhaps the most humiliating defeat in US history. …

Amal Saad:

The US didn’t agree to a ceasefire but acquiesced to a new balance of power. …

James Acton:

The U.S. acceptance of the Iranian proposal as a basis for negotiation is a *huge* concession. There is nothing about Iran’s nuclear program in there and it includes a toll for the Strait.
Obviously this is a starting point, not an end point, but it is unlikely the U.S. will achieve any of its strategic goals—which is the price we must pay, I guess, for absolutely terrible and horrific policy.

Chinahand:

my uninformed opinion is that usa/allies denying overflight/refueling to israeli planes is the key behind the scenes condition for iran agreeing to the ceasefire. iiuc israel still lacks the ability to strike iran without these facilities. if Trump genuinely wants to wind this thing down, Netanyahu will have to resort to some other provocation to try to keep the war going. IMO.

Gregg Carlstorm

Listen, it is indeed striking that Trump describes Iran’s ten-point proposal as a “workable basis” for talks, but stipulating that at the start does not bind you to anything at the end
If America walks in and says it wants to change “right to continued enrichment” to “zero enrichment”, then we’re right back where we were in February

Side note:

The war has (so far) lasted 40 days. That limit has religious importance in Judaism and Islam.

The British and American bombers in WW2 above all attacked civilian targets. All major cities in Germany were  reduced to rubble and ashes. Over centuries historically grown cities were destroyed and with them German cultural and historical heritage and national identity. The economic and industrial capacity of the country was only slightly affected. The victorious powers wanted a Return on Investment. They wanted to make a big haul and to make huge profits from Germany‘s large industrial sector. War is a racket.

I like Big Serge, and his use of the term “Trashcanistan” while not orginal (I heard it years ago in reference to the ‘stans) is clever.

However, he misses the forest for the trees.  Iran has control over the strait, and that is the key difference that distinguishes this conflict from Libya, Syria, or Afghanistan.
The ability to inflict catastrophic damage on the global economy is a Iran’s “hole card.”  As I type, the very last shipments of jet fuel are being unloaded in Europe, per Naked Capitalism.  Get ready for mass flight cancellations and remaining options becoming “unobtanium” for all but the 1%.
And other “trashcanistans” like the Phillipines and Vietnam are next.

Moreover the US and the jews can keep bombing away but they will still have to put boots on the ground in order to convert a brutal bombing campaign into a victory. And the jews haven’t sufficient number of people for such an invasion and trump just wants to bugger off home feeling cheated by bibi

I agree, one only has to peruse Iranian social media to see the people’s rising anger against their so called representatives (Iran is a republic after all).  Earlier in this thread I highlighted that this sham ceasefire, mediated by a known US proxy (really lapdog), was the perfect opening to sow division within the populace, which had shown such great solidarity across all socioeconomic categories.  When hard power is ineffective, the Empire turns to soft power, which it wields so expertly.

The ceasefire gave both sides the opportunity to climb down the escalation ladder a few rungs.
Iran did not want to destroy the oil and gas infrastructure of the gulf region and its not clear whether Trump cares if  its destroyed.

I think Iran is smart enough to comprehend that there is no chance Trump and Israel would honor the agreement, but now that the conflict has been taken to a lower rung on the escalation ladder Iran still holds all the cards.  Israel’s attack on Lebanon was the first step back up the escalation ladder. Iran closed the strait. Now the balls in Trump’s court. If Trump is smart he will understand that climbing back up the ladder is a losing play.
I expect Israel will back off in Lebanon soon.

The Hormuz straits is the lynch pin of the world economy. the deindustrialization of the west over the last 50 plus years was off the back of cheap gulf oil which was used to create the new location of world manufacturing in South East and East Asia heavily reliant on cheap fuel and gas. On top of that we now know that comodity production and AI  are based in the Gulf. Iran holds a hand of 4 aces

If Iran reacts against Israel’s Lebanon attacks by not following through on the ceasefire terms and negotiations, isn’t it giving Israel a veto on its foreign policy?

Wouldn’t the best move right now be to tell the US that if the ceasefire does not include Lebanon, then it also does not include Israel? Concentrate ALL rockets and other attacks on the SLC (shitty little country) and pound them day and night as hard as possible.

The wold global south is a problem:
It should be liveable areas. The test should be if you can sleep outside and you don’t have plenty to eat.
Naturally, Russia is pro India and this war is supported by a troika of Israel, US, and India.
I will not trust Russia, because you cannot support Israel and India and want to be a superpower.
If you divide the world in Northern and people not in global south, but liveable areas, you discover that people from liveable areas are happy go lucky, whereas people from un-surviable areas have to kill and raid the people from happy go lucky people of the liveable areas. They have a biological imperative to take over the lands of people from temprate climates.
Surpringly, you can fit in the Mongol raiders and even Afghan raiders who pillaged the indian temples in the South India. You can lump in the Japanese who colonized the southern China.
So anthropologically you can devise, the reason for colonization. You can see why all British want to live in American South.  I need time to hone my theory, but it explains a lot.

The 2nd point was that all ceasefire take a few days to set in. And during the ceasefire a lot of violations of ceasefire take place. Take the 2014 ceasefire of Ukraine-Russia. It is only temporary.
Caroline Leavitt was not wrong, for my Maga friends! The word “original” is the key here.
Russia, China, America and Europe have to split in north and south.
Again east and west are arbitrary distinctions, where North and South are real distinctions.
Humans by their nature are lazy, but the good thing is they have short life spans. When USSR invaded Afghanistan it used to think that I my lifetime I will never see an independent Afghanistan. Then not only USSR dismembered, but after that US also tried its hand for 20 years and lost. Now things are picking up and I hope to see Isreal go the same way, and Europe to turn into a liveable and unliveable place I’m my lifetime. The NATO are out, so is Europe.
I see it happening in the last part of my life. Another 10 years or so.
Soon people will understand the dangers of democracy and alliances, which make placing the blame impossible as opposed to a dictator of a King a real King not like European kings, or oil feifdom kings.

neither Israel or the US run on the personality disorders of their leaders. how does an insane person stay in power? with lots and lots of help. Are those people also insane? who keeps them in power? more insane people? who isn’t insane? it’s insane turtles all the way down.

anyway, off to steal my daily therapeutic dose of lithium from a Tesla.

did anyone notice that two major US natural gas pipelines both went offline within a matter of days? cuz capitalism sucks and can’t even keep the gas station open? it’d be a real shame if someone just went and blew those things up. The thing is : the method is always the same : inflict maximum casuality , maximum terror ; then pretend the target is “Hamas , Hezbollah , IRGC …”
The only “military targets” they shoot are : radars , flack , fighterjet. They don’t even care about the missiles launchers (too mobile and hard to find.). All the rest is bullshit and/or AI slop.
The only rule of war of those cowards : never shoot at someone that can shoot you back, slaughter all that can’t.

I think Iran is the clear geopolitical winner of the fake ceasefire. No doubt they gamed it out and saw that the psychotic Israelis would immediately void it by their attacks, like the scorpion stinging the frog carrying him across the river.

By playing along with the so-called ceasefire they have enhanced their international standing, while US, Israel and UAE have further trashed theirs, all at little or no loss to Iran. After a single day already voided.

I don’t know  what film you are talking about.
It is true that most Americans are ignorant of the fact that the US Civil War was also fought in the American West.

However, not sure that a movie is the best way to get a better picture of this aspect of the Civil War. An excellent source is Alvin M. Josephy, Jr., The Civil War in the American West.
It is also true that many of the military who were sent to “pacify” the West after the Civil War were from the South.

Thanks for the reasoned response.
Still very hard to accept.

Israel ADs were the first strategic targets.
By all appearances, Iran has eliminated them.

Second strategic targets would the airports by which Israel gets resupplied AND from which their planes take off to go bomb the hell out of Iran.
I am not a military guy, but it is a no brainer.

1-Hard to believe that a 1 1/2 ton warhead, or larger, hitting a runway can be all patched up in a few hours.

2- If I am wrong on number 1, and Israel keeps the planes in Underground bunkers, there are elevators that move them up and down, probably underneath hangers, which satellite surveillance can detect.
Why are they not bombing those hangers/elevators?

3-If nothing else, Iran should have some intelligence as to when the planes are brought to surface to take off for bombing runs. All they need is a couple of missles on stand by to be launched at that time.
Hell, if they can not do that, then bomb the runways while the planes are in the air, so they can not land.

Conclusion, since none of those options are being pursued, Iran is, for some bizarre reason, fighting with one hand tied behind their back,
OR THE SCRIPT CALLS for them to not bomb Israel airports and runways and this whole shit show is planned out just like Covid and the vax was.

Thank you for your attention to this matter!

I guess you have never watched a paving crew at work building a freeway. It is amazing how much distance they can cover in one day.
A few dump truck loads of gravel. Some compaction, A little grading, lay a quick dry surface. Presto! No more bomb crater. As soon as the concrete drys you have a runway,

Catdog at 920: bo iran has not folded, iran still controls the hormuz and bab el mandeb and can put a missile/drone in the saudi east/west yanbu pipeline plus it still holds advanced missiles and drones to continue its devastating attacks on the jews and the sycophants on the west side of the gulf. And trump is about to make certain that the election in november goes to the dems and a question is if congress will confirm the war after the lapse of 60 days, i e late april.
one thing is certain and that is that the US and the jews won’t defeat iran by trying to bomb it to smithereens. A decisive victory requires boots on the ground and the jews haven’t the necessary numbers and trump, pissant pedophile, can’t collect enough numbers for an invasion.
