News & views related to the war in Iran …

Comments

Very well worth watching.  Highly recommended.  Their intensity damns the Trump administration and the Trump Disaster Speech as much as their words.  Through their words are on the order of being a list and description of all of the terrorist actions done by the US.

Yes, both Wilkerson and Henningsen are intense. Haiphong’s recent podcast with Henningsen a few days ago was one of the best I have seen on this whole mess.
I shall make a point of watching the referenced podcast. Danny is gracious enough, and not too ego-driven (despite his show’s being comparable in quality and value IMO with Nima Alkhorshid’s Dialogue Works) to allow himself to be overshadowed and even made into a bit of a comic foil when powerful commentators take over his show.
It was in this context that Pepe Escobar, a week or so ago, after totally dominating the podcast, seriously overstepped by openly mocking his host, Danny Haiphong, for being a chump to let others take over his show. Serious tone deafness verging on outright boorishness on Pepe’s part, thinking he was still within the bounds of wise cracking. Danny accepted this gracefully (I called out Pepe’s boorishness in a comment).

The DJT speech last night, in which he committed to the war for another 2 to 4 weeks is certainly not good news for the Iranians.

Two to four more weeks of expending AAD missiles will have a profound impact on the UAF air defense system.  The priority now is to defend the Tel Aviv fascist government, and the US Gulf State allies, not defending Kieve and other UAF targets.

Volo must be grousing all over the EU now, asking and begging for more missiles that just plain do not exist……………and will not for many months…….

9 times 9 is 81 – I think I have come here and admitted my mistake – why your rubbing it in?
Regardless, three to the power of four is a fine number, but I like 7 times 13 as well – so go figure.
If you would like to discuss some arrangements of hexagons, then please inquire – otherwise – stop piling on needless upon somebody already admitted – I made a mistake – I mean we all are humans just trying to get by – correct?
If not, then explain why you feel the need to pile on.

Until a couple of days ago diesels running in the U.S. were required to have sensors that made DEF necessary to run. Apparently the urea issue have now caused the regulatory agency cancel that requirement.

So an IRGC military dictatorship is going to take any steps it seems necessary, including acquiring nuclear weapons. Now that the Khamenei fatwa is defunct, I would be astonished if they’re not already discussing it.

It’s a mistake to call government under martial law during wartime a dictatorship.

This is an expected function of the military when the civilian government is unable to function.

Ken Klippenstein says “raids”, not invasions in his previous article. No way a few thousand Marines/82 Airborne/ Special Forces can get and hold a chunk of Iran without massive supportive logistics like ships, planes, trucks.

This article is about armed regime change. Maybe helped with a “raid” and the US/Zio bombs/missiles targeting of the local Iranian police and militia forces. Vietnam era Green Beret stuff.

correct, it was required by EPA I think that vehicle computer would only let it limp to a fuel station if sensor reported def tank empty.

If one finds the right mechanic with the software you can have it de-deffed.

Just shorting the sensor wont work, there are other engine settings that have to be changed.

Had to do this on lots of 2012 class 8 trucks as they were awful when def systems first came out.

Expensive fix, it was several thousand per truck.

It’s interesting that Israel is sounding more and more like Sodom and Gomorrah, especially considering Epstein.

“Then the Lord rained down brimstone (flaming sulfur) and fire on Sodom and on Gomorrah from the Lord out of heaven,  and He overthrew (demolished, ended) those cities, and the entire valley, and all the inhabitants of the cities, and whatever grew on the ground.”  Genesis 19:23-25

Sounds awfully like Iranian missiles and drones

I would add: the old testament is not a Christian document.  It’s a pre Christian document of the Jewish religion and is completely at odds with everything Jesus said. Imho: Any serious Christian would recognize this obvious fact and organize its church on that basis.  I’m not convinced there are any real Christians anymore, despite all the churches and proclamations of faith.
Posted by: Ahenobarbus | Apr 2 2026 18:16 utc | 100

Oh dear, Ahenobarbus, I must disagree!  For any eastern Orthodox Christian, most definitely the two are intertwined!  The secret in our faith is, however, to be able to discern the foreshadowing of the presence of Christ while on a journey through the Old Testament, particularly in certain significant readings therein.  The morning before Easter night, the service in church goes from one of these to the next, and the next and the next, and on.   (And not only at Easter but in every other service a similar affinity is proclaimed.)

The progression from Old to New is electrifying (pardon the comparison, but it really is!)

The other country is Oman.  So lets do a quick check upon it.

Oman
Oman, officially the Sultanate of Oman, is a country on the southeastern coast of the Arabian Peninsula in West Asia.  It shares land borders with Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and Yemen, while its coastline stretches along the Arabian Sea, the Gulf of Oman, and the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz.  The capital and largest city is Muscat.
Oman has a population of approximately 5.49 million (2025 estimate) and covers an area of 315,331 km².  It is the oldest independent state in the Arab world and has been ruled by the Al Bu Said dynasty since 1744.  The current Sultan is Haitham bin Tariq, who succeeded Qaboos bin Said in 2020.
The official language is Arabic, and the official religion is Islam (Ibadi).  The currency is the Omani rial (OMR), one of the strongest currencies in the world.
Historically, Oman was a powerful maritime empire in the 17th–19th centuries, with influence extending to East Africa and parts of South Asia. Today, it maintains a neutral foreign policy and plays a key role in regional diplomacy.

If you think I got any relations or correlations with other posters here, that is your prerogative, but it approaches slander in a way and I refute your supposition – and I could easily prove it – can you prove what you put forth – if not, then tis just supposition and really indicative.

Regarding diesel engines in the US…

DEF, Diesel Exhaust Fluid (Mercedes Benz patented the method) is, as has been noted, urea-based. It is ONE means of reducing Nitrogen Oxide [NOx] from exhaust. This is a post-combustion process that occurs downstream of the engine itself (past the exhaust manifold).

If push comes to shove regulations could be altered to drop the requirements for DEF. Engine computers would only require simple reprogramming: this is done uite often already, though people doing so run the risk of being in violation of emissions laws.

The US laws regulating NOx were eased for STATIONARY applications (such as NatGas turbines).

Brent crude for immediate delivery has surged to $141 per barrel amid rising tensions in the Persian Gulf and reduced tanker traffic through the Strait of Hormuz — the highest level since 2008, raising global stagflation concerns.

Unlike futures contracts for oil priced for delivery in the future, dated Brent crude reflects the actual price of oil for near-term delivery and is very sensitive to immediate supply shocks.

They’ll try anything, desperate, while the ship sinks.

🇷🇺🇨🇳🇫🇷🇧🇭 According to The New York Times, Russia, China, and France blocked an Arab-backed push at the U.N. Security Council to authorize military action against Iran over the Strait of Hormuz.

The resolution, drafted by Bahrain and supported by Gulf states, faces a likely vote Friday, but the three veto powers oppose any use-of-force language.

Divisions also persist among nonpermanent members, making passage uncertain.

ℹ️Russia, China, and France last aligned to block a U.N. military push against Iraq in March 2003.

France and Russia explicitly threatened vetoes against the US-UK-Spain resolution authorizing force for Iraq’s disarmament, while China backed their joint statement opposing war.

@229
AI Overview of Abraham’s relationship to Sodom and Gomorrah:

Abraham’s primary connection to Sodom and Gomorrah is his role as an intercessor who bargained with God to spare the cities from destruction due to their wickedness (Genesis 18). He famously negotiated to reduce the number of righteous people required to save the city from fifty down to ten, mainly to protect his nephew, Lot.

Both of them, father and son, practiced incest.
So  it looks like Abraham thought that incesters were righteous people and he also thought that God thought the same thing. Perhaps God did, but he couldn’t find enough of these “righteous” to sway him not to destroy Sodom and Gomorrah.

So who exactly was Lot’s mother?

AI Overview:

The Bible does not mention the name of Lot’s mother
. Lot was the son of Haran, who was the brother of Abraham and son of Terah. While Haran died young in Ur of the Chaldees, his wife (Lot’s mother) is not named in biblical or traditional accounts.

Jeez, she could have been anyone. Like, maybe, Sarah?

And this family mess is the basis of Zionist claims and elevation of Abraham to be the “father” of three religions?
If I were  a Saudi prince or a Gulf potentate I wouldn’t be caught dead signing any “Abrahamic Accords” with the dysfunctional descendants of a dysfunctional incesters.
Bad look, if you ask me. However, I am an ignoramus.

BREAKING:

🇺🇸 Misunderstandings have begun at the top of the US Army

Pete Hegseth has reportedly asked U.S. Army Chief of Staff Randy George to step down and take immediate retirement, according to sources cited by CBS News.

One source said Hegseth is seeking a successor who is aligned with the defense and leadership vision of Donald Trump and willing to implement both Trump’s and Hegseth’s direction for the U.S. Army.

Posted by: CrazyCanuck | Apr 2 2026 22:26 utc | 240

Pete Hegseth fired army chief of staff Gen. Randy George. Hegseth wants someone in the role who will implement President Trump and Hegseth’s vision for the Army.

Chief Pentagon spokesperson Sean Parnell said in a statement that George “will be retiring from his position as the 41st Chief of Staff of the Army effective immediately. The Department of War is grateful for General George’s decades of service to our nation. We wish him well in his retirement.”

The Trump administration is currently searching for a new General to fill in the role as the Chief of Staff that will implement a ground invasion.

If Iran was able to properly defend itself, there would have by now been no means for the US to strike Iran other than intercontinental strategic bomber flights and submarines.

Let’s see where your “logic” leads.

Russia is bombed daily, and not by nuclear submarines or ICBMs.

According to your definition, Russia is incapable of defending itself, just like Iran.
So why should it defend Iran if it’s incapable of defending itself?

Minister of Foreign Affairs:🔹 Targeting civilian infrastructure, including unfinished bridges, will never force Iranians to surrender.

🔹 These actions merely demonstrate the failure and moral collapse of an enemy that is in a state of chaos and desperation.

🔹 Every bridge and every building will be rebuilt, this time stronger than before; but what will never be repaired is the damage done to America’s standing, credibility, and trustworthiness.

The amount of time and policies coming from Pete Hegseth to micromanage the Army alone is crazy. He totally forgot about 3 other branches and the Coast guard under DHS.

He thinks he is an Army general now because the other stars told him Ground Invasion is not feasible and anyone pushing back got a kick out of the door.

Hegseth threw the Admiral under the boat and said that he didn’t order the killing of fishermen. Hegseth had a habit of throwing his staffs under the bus. High rank COs are political savvy and a lot of deals, exchange favors under the table and they don’t want to have a failed invasion under their names because it’s an end of their career promotion.

It seems like a ground war is not off the table and the Administration will push this through against all advices.

On topic (briefly):

I did not watch the Orange Golem’s address to the nation yesterday, but from the clips I have seen and reports I have read I think it is best surmised as twenty minutes of “I’m on top of the world, Ma!”.

Meanwhile, Alon Mizrahi has put out another video where he is doing something of a victory lap.
Well worth watching the truncated YT version:
Day 34: Israel and the US admit defeat
The next few weeks will be very, very interesting – in the Chinese sense of the word.

OK – this is the “Iran open thread”.  Do you remember when Soleimani was assassinated back then?  I do.  I remember it like yesterday.
And shortly after that seems we all were embroiled in the “covid fiasco”.  I means seems as if efforts are being made to intentionally cause chaos and god knows “whose plans” those are but it don’t take a rocket scientist to realize they are the plans of fools lost in nefarious ambitions of 20th century domination – when it ought be evident better ideas beckon – and beckon they do.  At some point, better ideas seek the initiative and then it ought be known – bullies only respond to force – so if it is force they proclaim out – then force it shale be in retribution to all the KNOWN harm they cause – and it will be swift and precise and then that will be that – cause better ideas beckon and that is known as well.

I heard in a podcast interview that Putin halted the imminent delivery of an S-400(?) air defense system, imminent as in it had already been loaded onto trucks, after a personal intervention by Netanyahu with Putin himself.

Does anyone have any further information about this , how recent and any articles, as well as any ideas as to why Putin would abandon the Iranians so suddenly on Netanyahu’s request.

I don’t remember, but I only occasionally follow a few podcasters, so it had to have been amongst Mearsheimer on either Judge Nap or Deep Dive, Max Blumenthal or Doug McGregor on Deep Dive.

This was supposedly before the current war.  I don’t remember if it was after the 2025 war.
This was mentioned a couple of weeks ago.

Any confirmation or details would be appreciated.

One of several glitches in the software is that sometimes you click “Post Comment” but your comment remains in the box even though it has successfully posted. If you click “Post Comment” a second time a few seconds later, you get a “commenting too quickly” message.  Maybe that’s what happened to you.

From the Brave “ai” that might not realize it is speaking truth to power – but facts are facts:

Qasem Soleimani was assassinated on January 3, 2020, in a U.S. drone strike at Baghdad International Airport.  The attack, ordered by President Donald Trump, targeted Soleimani, the commander of Iran’s Quds Force, and several others, including Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis, a senior Iraqi militia leader.
The U.S. justified the strike as an act of self-defense, claiming Soleimani was planning imminent attacks on American diplomatic facilities.  However, the United Nations Special Rapporteur Agnés Callimard later stated that the killing violated international law and amounted to an “act of war” under the UN Charter, given the lack of evidence for an imminent threat and the operation’s execution on Iraqi soil without Baghdad’s consent.

  • Iran responded with missile strikes on U.S. military bases in Iraq on January 8, 2020, but no American personnel were killed, which was widely seen as a symbolic act of retaliation.
  • Shortly after, Iran accidentally shot down a Ukrainian passenger airliner (PS752), killing 176 people, amid heightened tensions and military alertness.
  • As you noted, the assassination was quickly followed by the global COVID-19 pandemic, which shifted international focus away from the incident, though it remains a pivotal moment in U.S.-Iran relations.

Oh gracious me – the world we live withing is a relic of 20th century ideas and the generations associated for whom it is time for your to pass away literally – cause better ideas beckon and how dare you fuck up the 21st century – you losers and harm pushers.  How dare you commit genocide upon innocence in Gaza and how dare you continue pushing all this harm.

Trump wants to add nearly $7 trillion to the $39 trillion national debt with his new military budget, watchdog warns

Budget hawks in Washington have their eyes trained on April 3, when the White House is scheduled to release its fiscal year 2027 budget request, centering on a significant “historic” defense spending increase to $1.5 trillion. The national debt crossed $39 trillion just weeks ago and is alarming figures as varied as Elon Musk and Jerome Powell.

it don’t take a rocket scientist to realize they are the plans of fools lost in nefarious ambitions of 20th century domination

But it makes so much sense: looking at WWs 1 & 2 from a large distance and glossing over most details then in each case the USA entered late, suffered little losses and its economy benefitted immensely from the peace dividend. By contrast, the military winners of the war (France, UK in WW1, Soviet Union, France, UK in WW2) were in bad shape.

Why shouldn’t someone try the same once more? Question is not rhethorical, I am serious. Some care has to be taken that (a) global nuclear war is avoided and (b) the war stays confined to Europe and Asia. I am afraid that overall situation of the USA (i.e. its capital/elites) is bad enough that the above becomes a reasonable goal.

Seyyed Abbas Araghchi, our country’s Foreign Minister, sarcastic reaction to the statements of the US President

🔹 There is a striking difference between the present era and the Stone Age: back then, no oil or gas was extracted in the Middle East.

🔹 Are the President of the United States and the Americans who brought him to power sure that they want to turn back the hands of time?

(He’s only just started speaking in a typical Iranian Persian manner. Any Persian discourse that does not employ a sharp, sarcastic tone when dealing with arrogant individuals cannot be considered authentic Iranian expression.)

Entertaining invective! But not wholly convinced. Where to start?

“Trump’s ineptitude is why Trump is so hated by Americans currently. Biden made a reputational blunder on behalf of America by backing the Gazan genocide too openly.”

I think actually it was the failure of the grande armee in the Ukraine that did for the Dems and a fourth Obamadronebomber term.

I’m convinced the ‘privy council’ version of the USA – the so called secretive National Interests – still uses the Obama ceo skill sets as they do the dynastic clans of ex-potus’.

The Ukraine failure is Napoleonic and Hitlerish levels.

The job DJT47 was given was to try and walk away washing the hands and saving as much of the Old Bastard Bankers – the US National Interests definers –  booked and spent profits.especially on the now white elephant AI capture. (More on that in another thread soo,  there are some major eruptions coming)

He got to also attempt the compensatory grab of VZ and Iran oil exports. As well as the expansion of the west Asian crossroads.

He is perhaps as much a hostage as he is a kidnapper, assassin and child killer. He has kids. He wants them to have a life and dynastic ambitions. They may well all have to change the infamous surname … to hide from their blood line.

Looks like the Bankers and Old Bastards can’t get what they demand and will have to face bankruptcies on their hasty actions in counting their chickens before the eggs hatched!

Now they can only attempt a dirty omelette for a feast at best.

American hoi polloi have no say in what America National Interests want. No say in what wars they are involved in. Most have no idea where on the globe such acts of aggression are taking place or how many undeclared wars are going on.

Many economic migrants still seek a better life in the US because of their diaspora’s encouragement. Nothing wrong with that human impulse to do better somewhere else than is possible at home. Especially if encouraged by poverty and war and lack of opportunity.

They become American – it doesn’t mean they want wars or austerity or a return to the type of life they ‘escaped’.

Even if they do end up in dire straits (ahem) as they did during the Great Depression and Dust Bowl famine, they won’t think that the answer is to go to war with the world! They didn’t then and they won’t now.

The coming collapse in buying power by the majority of the ‘First Worlders’ is of course well underway. The Few will obviously retain their world wide fortunes to some extent and maintain their great globe trotting lifestyles. Unless sanctions by international law for their blood money profiteering. We can hope to see that justice served no matter how long it takes.

Including upon the corporations which have given themselves ‘rights’ like humans! The never ending transforming EIC.

So. Whilst I wholly agree with you about America the fascist owned and run state and its few million warmongering minions, I don’t think you can blame whole Peoples hundred fold more numerous,  but wholly powerless, who spend most of their lives slaving almost to improve their and their kids lives in the same way, as the guilty fascist state and its direct minions.

As for the Japanese satrap, it too has long been in the same orbit of the same shapeshifter National Interest definers of the global robber barons tyrants.

I doubt that the current generation of Japanese young are as easy to send to die for their no longer godlike emperor. Though they are being encouraged to do well in the coming World Cup, having been prepared to show Japanese prowess improving. (They are worth a bet for the final stages for these interested in such matters).

I appreciate they do have a tendency to masochism and well, fairly dodgy associated sadism. Going by their insane physical pain endurance TeeVee shows. But whether that can be translated back to the banzai, suicidal, supremacist who invaded China and killed 25 million Chinese and still lost is unlikely.

Especially this China is not the China that had been internally hollowed out for a century and was mainly agrarian and impoverished. This China has eyeballs on the whole of the world never mind Japan. It is the biggest industrial power. It has space programs, nukes and the most advanced science and technology. And weapons!

What has Japan the state got that is superior to anything Chinese?

Most western polls are balls by the way. They have been for a decade at least.

So I don’t agree with your final sentiment attacking the ordinary peoples of a whole nation. Because they have captured political and media etc

I do chime with you with MAGA

Make America Go Away.
cheers.

It’s a mistake to call government under martial law during wartime a dictatorship.
This is an expected function of the military when the civilian government is unable to function.

Posted by: Arch Bungle | Apr 2 2026 21:40 utc | 219

Totally irrelevant. I’m talking about the IRGC being the real government of Iran from this time going forward, including after the conflict is over.

Military dictatorships have a certain number of criteria – one of which includes a military government with popular support (eg Burkina Faso) – and the IRGC falls well within them.

Yes, I believe that.

It adds to the irony in as far as how “Israel” and USSA are discussed in western media and official channels.

When one understands the full reality, history and depth of the “Israeli” occupation of Palestine, starting with terrorism as official state policy, race laws disguised as religious, assassinations, open genocide (which is cheered on), false flags, human and organ trafficking hub of the world, systematic murder, torture, state sanctioned rape and sodomy, religious and government approved grooming and sexual abuse of minors, use of “Newspeak” and projection in official communications, systematic murder, the belief in themselves as “chosen” (shared in many ways over the years by the US and American Empire) ubermensch, etc. etc. etc.

It’s obvious USrael is the actual 4th Reich.

“Even if they’re bad people” he said looking at the camera.

We are not talking about mere reprobates.
I am perhaps called that by my nearest and dearest occasionally.
As I have also known some of my great friends to be badly behaved ones.

Some I fell out with because of their increasing reprobation, or to save my liver or purse or sanity.
Many have passed because of their lifestyle.

Thorough reprobates indeed. Friends mostly. We had great times. But it was time to grow up a bit in my 50’s.

The unsuitability of high-tech air defense are many, especially imported:

Control code or kill switch might be included.

Tech is known by opponents (via say Turkey ?) and so counter measure can exist.

New blanket denial methods might be used.

Targetable conventionally.

Limited use unless large quantity of effective missiles are kept, expensive.

False sense of security, as stand off deterent leads to surprise if overcome, and as strategic defense would introduce vulnerability if other assets were considered protected.

Etc.

So, and I don’t know what exactly went on with S300 or S400 although Syria was a good example maybe, it is not straightforward to interpret what is going on.

Posted by: Ornot | Apr 3 2026 0:25 utc | 298

If there was a way to do so as anonymously as possible, I would probably place a polymarket bet on some kind of domestic false flag pre-midterms, likely a mass shooting or some coordinated “terrorist” event at a FIFA World Cup game or in one of the city centers where a game is being hosted. Perhaps even multiple simultaneous such events on the same day.

A sitting President doesn’t go on TV and brazenly announce that “we can’t afford daycare” while demanding TRILLIONS more for “defense” (wait, I thought they renamed it to Dept. of War?), during an incredibly unpopular illegal war of aggression, amidst rising gas and food prices, extreme inequality, and historically low polling numbers if you think (or your advisors are telling you) that you are in any political danger by way of the upcoming (s)elections.

I am 90% sure something like this is in the cards.  Some form of martial law by October.
