War On Iran: – U.S. Losses – Strait Opening – Oil Price Dilemma – Expanding The War

The losses the U.S. military currently incurs in its war on Iran continue to accumulate.

ABC News confirms that Iran has managed to destroy at least 10 radar installation in the Middle East. Most of these were U.S. owned while the rest were supplied to U.S. allies. The loss of early warning radar lets more Iranian missile slip through the U.S. missile defense curtain. It will cause more losses in other installations especially in Israel.

The U.S. Central Command confirmed yesterday that Iranian air defenses managed to hit at least one of its F-35 ‘stealth’ fighter jets. Reportedly the pilot was injured and the plane made a ‘hard landing’ – which likely means that the pilot ejected before the jet crashed down.

This should finally destroy the Lockheed marketing nonsense claim of ‘invisibility’ of its war planes. It also destroys the myth that Iran has lost control over its airspace and that the U.S. has achieve air superiority. In consequence the U.S. will have to continue to use expensive, and exceedingly rare, stand-off weapons to hit targets within Iran instead of doing much cheaper gravity bombing.

The U.S. aircraft carrier Ford had to leave the Middle East for repairs after a ‘laundry fire’ destroyed some 600 berth on board. The Ford carrier was already notorious for its constantly clogged toilets. I strongly suspect that it will have to go back to the U.S. for a long period of overhaul.

The second carrier in the region has been withdrawn to the southern Arab Sea for fear of being attacked by Iranian forces. The long distance from Iran will necessitates the time consuming aerial fueling of its plane when they are launched for sorties against that country.

At least three F-15 fighter jets have been destroyed by alleged ‘friendly fire’ near Kuwait.

Of the 100 MQ-9 Reaper drones the U.S. military had acquired some 10 have been lost in recent reconnaissance missions over Iran.

Some five U.S. KC-135 refueling aircraft were hit during an Iranian strike on Saudi Arabia. An additional one was lost and another damaged during an in-air collision.

All the above isn’t ‘much’ when one considers the total size of U.S. forces but we are only in day 21 of this war and the losses will continue to accumulate.

An Amphibious Readiness Group of three ships with some 2,200 marines on board has been ordered from Japan to the Middle East. It will take at least a week before it will reach its destination. Another ARG is expected to soon leave San Diego to make its way to the Middle East. It will take three weeks before it can be there.

Each ARG, (also known as Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU)) has an 800 men strong ground force on board that can be used for storming a beach, taking a landing strip or some other small scale command missions. The rest of the soldiers on board are supply and support forces. An MEU can support itself for only a week or so before it needs to be relieved by regular forces. Those regular forces are still missing. This makes it likely that the ARGs will do little.

There are speculations in the media that the U.S. will use the ARGs to invade and occupy Kharg island in the northern Persian Gulf region from where Iranian oil is put on ships for export. But to even reach Kharg the ARGs would have to pass through the Strait of Hormuz in what would be a very high risk endeavor. Then comes taking Kharg which in itself is a suicide mission.

There are a handful of Iranian islands within the Strait of Hormuz which are better candidates for a Marine landing. But all of these are, like Kharg, within the reach of Iranian artillery, missiles and drones. To occupy them will require sustained campaigns and the will to suffer extensive losses.

There is also a lot of noise about a U.S. mission to reopen the Strait for Hormuz by providing Navy protection for civilian shipping. But the forces to do that are simply not there (yet). It would need a dozen destroyers plus mine sweepers plus aerial support to allow for such convoy protection missions. At least two of the three U.S. minesweepers which should be in the Middle East are currently in Malaysia. Most of twenty or so available destroyers are currently on carrier protection missions. It will need many weeks, if not months, before the necessary forces can be assembled and put into place.

The Trump administration is in a race of time. Its original plan was to finish the Iran campaign before it would start to move oil prices. But Iran did not submit to U.S. wishes. The chance for Trump to now do a TACO and to chicken out of the crisis is nearly negligible. It takes two sides to stop a war and Iran is not willing to make any concessions.

Yet the administration still has not recognized that it has managed to wedge itself into a long war. Its attempts to lower oil prices is demonstrating that it is still trying to fight windmills.

Under normal circumstances the world consumes about 100 million barrels of crude oil per day. Due to the blockade of the Strait some 15 million of that is currently missing. The first reaction of the markets to such a supply shock is to draw down existing stocks and reserves.

The U.S. has lifted sanctions on Russian oil stored at sea and considers to do the same for some 140 million barrels of floating Iranian reserves. But with 15 million barrels missing per day such one time releases will only supply enough relief for another week or so. The release of a few 100 million barrels from international Strategic Petroleum Reserves will also have little effect. Decisive here is the flow rate, i.e. how much of it can be pumped out and released per day. The flow rate from U.S. salt cavern reserve storages is some 1.2 million barrels per day. The total global reserve flow rate is some 2 million barrels per day. With 15 million barrels per day missing any reserve release will have only minor effects.

The future market oil prices are still hovering around $100 bbl. The real product market price already exceeds $150 bbl. Saudi Arabia is forecasting $180 bbl for early April. The price will have reached $200 bbl by the mid of next month.

Natural gas and LPG prices will see an even steeper rise as 20% of the total capacity is now missing. There are also a number of co-products that come with oil and gas exploration. Nearly half of the global Helium supply, needed for chip production, is missing. Sulfur has become rare. Urea and other fertilizers are now way more expensive. Supplies for specialties like jet-fuels and Nafta, needed for chemical production, are vanishing.

Demand destruction follows supply destruction. If there is less jet-fuel available air-travel will become more expensive and people will book less flights. That may not hurt many. But if there are less fertilizers available to produce food people will start to go hungry. Hunger creates social clashes and revolts.

People may already complain about the prices at the gas pump but we are still far from experiencing the real problems this war will create.

The Trump administration would like to have compliant but still resourceful Iran. Israel, and its U.S. based lobby, is aiming much further. It wants to destroy Iran and, if possible, the whole Gulf region. That is why we are seeing attempts to incite the Arab Gulf states (and Turkey) into directly  joining the war on Iran.

I expect these attempts to intensify until at least some of the Gulf state will take the suicidal step to fight Iran with their own means. That may then become the moment where the U.S. retreats from active participation in the conflict to limit itself to deliver expensive weapon supplies. This is what the Trump administration has done in Ukraine and there are good reasons for it to repeat that scheme in other regions.

Lessons US and Gulf could learn from Ukraine’s air defence warriors
https://www.thetimes.com/world/russia-ukraine-war/article/us-welcome-ukraine-help-air-defence-lkdr7d6j6
Ukrainian instructors visiting the Middle East were shocked by allies inefficiency and stupidity: using expensive Patriot missiles to counter cheap Shahed drones, a glaring cost/resource asymmetry.

The waste stunned them most. Allies fire up to 8 Patriot missiles at a single target which absurd for Ukrainians who ration every round.

Ukrainians prove the same can be achieved with machine guns on pickups or inexpensive interceptor drones.

They were also horrified by poor “radar hygiene”. US and allied radars operate statically: systems run almost non-stop from fixed bases, which makes them easy sitting ducks for Iran.

Ukrainian air defense endures thanks to mobility, radars turn on very briefly, then quickly relocate. Gigantic, billion-dollar early-warning radars stand motionless, relying on perceived invulnerability.

Yet three cheap Shaheds recently destroyed a $1 billion radar, a modern “battleship moment”: low-cost drones now render ultra-expensive systems helpless without mobility and short-range protection.

NATO systems were designed for classic threats, not swarms of plastic drones.

The West enjoyed decades of air dominance that is just ending.

Ukraine is the first since WWII to fight where the enemy paralyses the skies with cheap mass production.

Ukrainian instructors urge NATO to unlearn “luxury warfare,” invest in affordable kinetic solutions (anti-aircraft guns, interceptor drones) and mobility or risk being financially/industrially/militarily destroyed

The Department of Defense is one of the largest consumers of fuel in the world, and though the fuel on which its operations rely includes a mix of long-term contracts and stockpiles, a $10 increase in the price of a barrel of oil can raise overall Pentagon annual operating costs by an estimated $1.3 billion. We have asteroids, called oreshniks.

I am contemplating writing to King Charles who is toying with Islam, like someone will eat the salad but not the prawns of an hors d’oevre.  The salad being the commitment to worship Allah alone,  but the prawns being to renounce the political pressure of Western society which sustains his privileged position.

Zionism is a large component of modern politics, and he will never oppose it because of the political fallout on his position.
Prophet Muhammad saw ‘ uncle refused to reject his authority amongst the Meccan polytheists and revert to Islam.
But why would one not give up the vastness of political bollocks, Empire bollocks, palace bollocks, Pedigree bollocks in exchange for eternal peace in Paradise?

He’s half dead anyway,  but he will never surrender his worldly dignity which includes his Biblical dignity as an anointed Christian King, for the immensely vaster dignity of being raised by God to eternal bliss in Heaven.

🇮🇱🇺🇸 The third Zionist enemy fighter jet was shot down over Iranian airspace

Public Relations Office of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps:

🔹 The third hostile enemy fighter belonging to the Zionist regime, an F-16, was shot down at 3:45 a.m. in central Iran by the modern air defense systems of the Aerospace Force of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.

🔹 The successful tracking and destruction of more than 200 aircraft, including drones, cruise missiles, refueling aircraft, and ultra-modern enemy fighter jets during the first three weeks of the war, demonstrate the increased capacity to monitor and track aggressors in the skies over Iran and the region, as well as the strengthening of the country’s air defense shields.

Melaleuca @713:

Trump world IMVHO is a giant shark tank.Apex predators all eating each other.Trump himself seems to thrive on the chaos around him.He pits one against the other and then uses whoever prevails. He has zero loyalty, so in the next round he’ll easily and swiftly move on to ride the shoulders of the next victor. That’s the chum, the blood in the water of the shark tank as everyone devours each other.

That is capitalism in a nutshell. That is reality as it has been for hundreds of years. That is the holy “Market™” (hallowed be Its name!). The only real criticism one can single Trump out for here is that he discarded the pretense that the middle class/PMCs have come to depend upon for their virtue signalling.

Because he’s a celebrity, wealthy, and is owned by even wealthier donors, there’s always someone new ready to enter the shark tank, believing that they are special and different and Trump actually wants and needs them.

That is the entire raison d’être of the middle class in bourgeois society. That is what the PMC exists for. This is nothing new. Trump just doesn’t disguise it because that is part of the character he played in “reality” TV and likewise the character he played when he first ran as the kayfabe “heel” to throw the race to Hillary. Trump’s win was unexpected, even for him, but since he ran as the kayfabe “heel” and that character is who was elected, he pretty much had to stay in character ever since. I’m not saying he doesn’t like being in that character, but it wasn’t really a choice.

The Trump of 2026 is not the Trump of 2016.He used a disaffected electorate to create the MAGA – enough boomers and GenX remember a better America, and PTBarnum-Trump sold them a mirage a promise of returning to values, or what Americans believed were the noble values of the 1950s-60s-70s, even 1980s USA.

But isn’t the illusion of a past more moral society precisely what the TDS victims are agonizing for? It was always an illusion, and it is simply the illusion they want back. That is precisely what we are seeing right this very moment with all who are bursting blood vessels over Trump, isn’t it? The TDS victims are the ones who are asserting that Trump is something different, even though with the attack on Iran he still is nowhere near approaching Obama’s body count. Of course, the war is yet young, so maybe he will yet surpass Saint Obama, who knows?

He’s owned like a dog on a leash; he’s moved on, and marvels that anyone is still gullible to believe any of that cringe MAGA bullshit.

Actually, many in the working class are evolving their consciousness. To the extent they are also refusing to return to the Democrats that is a wonderful and positive thing. But you know who is still gullible and believing cringe bullshit? TDS victims. They never moved beyond “Russia! Russia!! RUSSIA!!!” Their cringe hysteria just transferred over undiminished to the latest shiny thing the imperial mass media flashed in front of their faces.

how Iranians continue to threaten coalition aviation  (From Rybar)

Bewilderment in Western media is growing by leaps and bounds. Trump supposedly said that 100% of Iran’s Armed Forces combat potential was suppressed, and aviation operates freely, yet first several expensive drones were shot down, and then a 5th generation fighter F-35 was damaged.

The American press service published footage of the Majid air defense system being hit. This is a tactical-range complex mounted on a truck. Its range is only 8 km, but it is mobile, and the detection system is passive, meaning it is harder to detect.

This is a partial answer to the question of how Iranians have managed to preserve their air defense capabilities, and it lies in a change of tactics. Now Iranians operate from ambush, meaning the air defense system together with the radar from the complex are constantly switched off.

This makes it possible to avoid detection by coalition reconnaissance assets, since it is precisely during active radar operation that the notional station is detected, after which it is struck. Thus most stationary systems were withdrawn at the very beginning.

Now Iran relies on mobile air defense, which is activated only at the right moment. Air defense systems, as a rule with infrared (thermal imaging) missiles, strike at the detected target. Immediately after this, whether it is an air defense system or radar, it switches off and changes position.

This tactic is simple in essence, but effective. During the SMO in so-called Ukraine, especially at the beginning, our aircraft also flew deep into enemy territory. And they frequently became targets of ambushes by Ukrainian Buk and Osa air defense systems. It was harder there due to active assistance from NATO AWACS aircraft.

But there is also a flaw: to shoot somewhere, one needs to know roughly where to expect and search for the aircraft, and with damaged radars this is difficult. Therefore Iranians have to be resourceful and rely on luck.

Iran’s missiles are quite accurate when hitting targets in the mid east. I can’t see them completely missing an island.

It is harder due to the greater distance but also a long north-south shot needs to account for the Coriolis effect (the earth rotates during the missile flight). Also, Diego Garcia is a lagoon island, hitting the airport is not easy.

Notice how Google Maps in the link above illustrates the Diego Garcia Airport with a Malaysia Airlines plane. After all, that is where MH370 landed…

Throughout the duration of the SMO, Russia has done everything to avoid further escalation. And I must say that was a wise approach. But when Trump announced his plan to starve Cuba from energy supplies through a policy of secondary sanctions, I thought enough is enough and Russia should now break the blockade and deliver oil or oil products to Cuba, and I said so in a post.
And guess what, Russia has put on their way to Cuba two tankers full of oil and diesel, expected to reach Cuba on March 23rd (RT reported). Trump may look at the Carribean as his back yard, but Putin is telling him otherwise allthough this measure is sure to piss off DJT to the maximum.
BTW, recently China has issued a nuclear guarantee of sorts against the possible use of nukes by Netanjahu:

At one point there was a claim that 200 Ukrainians were in the Gulf advising on air defence. Whilst this is probably helping, the major beneficiary is probably Russia as these operatives, maybe the good ones, are now well away from their forces in Ukraine.
Another item added to the growing list of Russian benefits.
By the way, has anyone else spotted that China has added tungsten to the no exports list. With the CEO of Rhienmetal  being quoted as saying that stockpiles in the ‘West’ being virtually empty. A disaster in the defence/weapons industry.

An interesting article, well worth reading, apologies if already posted. Here is an excerpt:
“Israel’s 9 million people survive thanks to only two primary deep-water ports. That has led Tehran to move to Structural Paralysis mode, systematically focusing on four “death points”: the hyper-concentrated nodes of Israeli infrastructure that, if severed, will turn the death cult into a dark, thirsty, and starving cage.
The four vital organs are Hydrological Asphyxiation (hitting 85% of Israel’s potable water in five desalination plants); The Blackout Protocol (hitting the Orot Rabin power station in the heart of the national grid); A Food Siege, hitting the ports of Haifa and Ashdod, essential for Israel’s imports of the 85% of wheat it needs; and Energy Decapitation: focused on the Haifa refineries, the sole Israeli source of refined petroleum, and even more of a key target after the attack on South Pars.
Structural paralysis. Meticulously programmed. Inexorable. Already in effect.”

A rational and unemotional analysis of the popular support Trump received despite massive efforts by the Establishment to counter that support
Posted by: William Gruff | Mar 21 2026 8:05 utc | 595

A rational and unemotional person would notice that a lot of that popular support for Trump came from the fake Establishment efforts to counter that support.

Take the Mueller investigation (AKA Russiagate). That was not the establishment trying to take down Trump.
Mueller was appointed by the Trump administration. Trump himself interviewed Mueller hours before his appointment was announced. The Trump administration had complete control over everything Mueller investigated and prosecuted. The Trump administration even assisted in supplying most of the misinformation that Mueller and his team spent years investigating only for all those leads to evaporate into nothing burgers.
Trump has always been the Establishment candidate. Unlike other  Establishment candidates, because he was an  undercover agent for the Establishment, he could do all sorts of things other Establishment candidates could never possibly do. Its not as if the Establishment is against ICE gestapo tactics. Its not like the Establishment doesn’t like tax cuts for the wealthy. Its not as if the Establishment cares about what happens to DEI hires.  What has Trump ever done that is Anti Establishment?
The beauty of Trump for the Establishment is that if he ever fucks up big time the Establishment can just throw him under the bus and declare “we told you Trump was a bad apple”. And this brings us to the Iran war where it looks like Trump may have fucked up big time.

This whole thing is beginning to smell like regime change, only its not Iran that will be regime changed its the US regime that is going to be defenestrated.
If a land invasion of Iran turns into a slaughter of US troops the establishment knows that US population will turn on Trump and thus Trump will be publicly thrown to the lions in the coliseum. They are hoping that Iran has been pummeled enough that given the opportunity to deal with a new leader that promises to respect International law, Iran will agree to a ceasefire and a  return to normalcy.
I’m not sure Iran will buy that ruse. Iran has always known Trump is the establishment candidate and they will doubt any new leader will be any different beyond cosmetic surface appearances.

The Diego Garcia claims looks like pure anti-Iranian zionist propaganda. I won’t believe it unless Iran officially says otherwise.

Keep in mind there are other and perhaps more sensible ways to attack the atoll such as covert deployment of modern mines in the area. One could use unmanned subs from far away. One could also launch anti aircraft and land attack rockets from underwater. Iran easily has the resources and brainpower to create anything needed for such an attack and it would be an attack that is much harder to defend against that missiles flying 5000 kilometers.

@Patroklos@536: there is a sobering aspect to Berletic.  He has assiduously uncovered the continuity of US intentions toward China going back through consultant and think tank studies over the last fifteen years or so.   Stepping beyond this expertise, he claims to be able to understand the causal factors behind the Iran situation which is a step too far.   To do this requires some command of the facts of history particularly with regard to the evolution of finance, banking and the securities industry (Wall Street).  To see the world through military power-tinted lenses (inevitable perhaps with his background) results in distortion when considering the multivariate world of reality.  Kudos to his Berletic’s serious work; caution on uncritical acceptance of his unsupported hypotheses.

When Iran took out the AN/FPS-132 Block 5 radar in Qatar, it was said it was one of only five in the world, the others were in the UK, the U$, and…tahdah… Greenland.

Iran could do Denmark an absolute solid by taking out the Greenland installation.

I’ll recite my prayer meme, stolen from the internet, …. “Dear god, please let this happen as it would be so fucking funny”.

Forget Diego Garcia…..

Taking out the Greenland radar, … now *that* would cause a great tightening of sphincters across the USA and UK.

And Denmark would be paralysed by contradiction.
Beyond pleased the radar was gone from Greenland, and all indignant and outraged Iran had the insolence to mess with a NATO country….

Striking the Greenland radar would also mean mainland US was also within range…

Sunny Runny Burger @768: “One could use unmanned subs from far away.”

Unmanned subs are really, REALLY hard to do. The Ukraine and the sLimeys pretend they are attacking Russian merchant vessels with robot subs, but those drones are actually just semi-submersibles. They don’t actually fully submerge. Submerged vessels lose radio contact and thus must be 100% autonomous. The Russians and Chinese have true robot military subs, but as far as I know the US and sLimeystan only have simple civilian robot underwater “gliders”. Those don’t have to identify enemy targets or avoid detection. They just have to follow a programmed route and not run into anything in the process.

Now, if another country besides Russia and China did develop real robot subs, it would probably be Iran. The constraining resource is a pool of good programmers who can work at a level above using Visual Studio to snap together programmatic lego blocks, and Iran has quite a few that of those.

Huh?  Hillary was initially selected to win.  Trump made a deal the Epstein Class couldn’t refuse 2 weeks before the election.  The media changed its tunes, Comey gave 2 speeches, ballot boxes had their programming changed, and Trump got his victory.  Biden was selected to continue the Trump policies with a different style and get democrats across the nation to really hate Russia and Iran, which worked 100%, and now Trump was selected to continue the work of the Epstein Class.

If Kamala wanted to be President, she could have made a better deal with the Epstein Class.  I don’t think she wanted the position at all.  She is having a grand time enjoying life.  Trump has to playact as President every day.  Kamala got the better end of the deal.

Posted by b on March 20, 2026 at 17:26 UTC | Permalink
Maybe this was mentioned in one of the comments, but one of the possible scenarios I was reading – and Iran is aware and worried of – is that the 4000 American troops heading toward the Gulf might be for a ground operation on the three Iranian islands that the UAE says they are for them. A move like this will inevitably gets the UAE directly involved in the war, and when this happens, the war will be redelivered to the other Gulf states as  the GCC war against Iran. Eventually this will lead to what b is mentioning here.

Even that story is just an irrational appeal to your emotional  claim that Trump is anti-establishment.

First of all the enormous amount press coverage in the primaries was not positive coverage it was close to 100% negative.  It was mainly of the form that this is what Trump says and here’s why what Trump says is wrong or misguided.
Altho that form of negative coverage did help Trump win the primary that coverage didn’t suddenly end when Trump became the candidate.  It continued and also helped Trump win the general election. Your irrational argument about press coverage is just like the irrational argument that the FBI was helping Hillary win. How is the FBI repeatedly violating their statutory mandated code of conduct by repeatedly announcing to the electorate that Hillary was subject of investigation into criminal conduct while at the same time saying nothing against Trump  helping Hillary? And yet millions of Americans are convinced the FBI was working to get Trump defeated despite all the evidence against that position.

A rational analysis of Trump’s three elections would note that they those elections were engineered so that Trump won twice against women and lost once to a man. That outcome is deeply gratifying to the misogynist  segment  of the electorate (and their numbers are legion).  An emotional and irrational analysis of the elections would say widespread misogyny in the US had no bearing on the outcomes.

The smart move for the Islamic Republic of Iran would have been to let all the tankers in the Persian Gulf leave and not let any back. This would have eliminated much international criticism  and angst against Iran for blocking the Straits, and reduced the opportunity for a foreign coalition to form against  them. Stopping empty tankers coming into Gulf is also easy and more justifiable. They messed up big time.

Iran Missiles Launched At Diego Garcia

The Iranian missile attack probably had many goals.
1.  Test the structural design of the missiles.  Large rockets, and missiles, are structurally delicate.  The longer the rocket, the more balanced the forces need to be.  If they aren’t balanced, the rocket will develop a strain at some point along the rocket.  This can lead the rocket to snapping in two.

2.  Test stage separation.  Longer ranged rockets rely on stages.  As fuel is consumed in one stage, it separated from the rocket.  Each separation needs to be perfect or the rocket will fail and break apart.

3.  Test inflight navigation ability.  Long range attack rockets (ballistic missiles) can use various methods to adjust their flight paths, satellite navigation systems (GPS), celestial navigation (star patterns), and gyroscopes are the most common.  Each has its own strengths and weaknesses.  Gyroscopes drift.  Star patterns tend to only work in the upper atmosphere.  GPS can be spoofed or jammed.

4.  Test aiming ability.  Launching east-west is like shooting at something run towards or away from you.  Launching north-south is like shooting at something running left or right.  The missile needs to lead the target.  If the missile has a good navigation system, it can make corrections to the launch aim.  If you think of the missile’s target area as a large circle, that circle get smaller as the missile travels.  Getting the aim right on the launch pad is very important for long range north-south targets.

5.  Test targeting ability.  If the missile has a large warhead, it can be a little off target and still do damage.  This presents a problem for long range missiles.  The warheads tend to be smaller because so much of the weight comes from the fuel.  That means the missile must be very accurate in its final approach to the target.  Long range missiles today have radar, IR, visual, GPS, etc., tools to get the smaller warhead on the target.

6.  Test enemy countermeasures.  The enemy gets a vote.  Does it have satellite based countermeasures?  A satellite based laser doesn’t need to shoot down a missile.  It could blind the missile’s celestial navigation optics like a bright light aimed at your eyes at night.  The enemy’s laser could create a hot spot on the missile’s body, creating a weak point leading to structural failure and the break up of the missile.  In the target area, does the enemy have effective missile defenses?

7.  Stretch the enemy’s forces.  This is more military operations and less engineering.  If a long range missile launched towards an enemy’s “safe” rear area base, it creates a dilemma for him.  How many resources will he need to divert to protect the rear base?  What contingency plans need to be developed if the base is hit?  What will be the back up location if the base is hit?  What will be the ops tempo impact if he needs to move to a more distant or less capable location?

CONCLUSION

The Iranians probably had all of these goals, and others, in mind when they launched the two missiles.  The two missiles could even have had different designs and the Iranians wanted to see how each did.  The presence of the Chinese surveillance ship with its 5000km missile tracking range and it’s multiple telemetry sensors gave Iran the confidence to test launch the two missiles.  I know the Chinese and Iranians, and maybe the Russians as well, are feverishly analyzing the data, identifying flaws and devising solutions.

I’m interested in when the Iranians will attempt another launch.  Will it be a different type of missile?  Will it be the same type as launched yesterday, but with improvements?  What will the U.S. do?

Team Blue was the only group trying to put the Israelis in check, but old racist Bibi was the first out of the gate after the US elected Obama to get back into Leadership followed by old racist Trump. It takes some nuance to see how Team Blue has to navigate the AIPIC coalition. Kamala had to navigate it in her own household and resisted the pressure to pick Shapiro as her VP.

Interesting article on Asia Times:
Forget Trump’s flailing — Iran’s the one without an endgame – Asia Times

“Much has been written about President Donald Trump’s alleged lack of clearly defined goals and strategic objectives in the war with Iran. But the more pressing and consequential question has received far less attention: Does the Iranian regime have an endgame at all? …

Iran’s posturing – in the face of an economy in shambles, water stress, damage to oil infrastructure and export capability, and the attrition of its fighting capability – is only pushing it further from the one goal its rulers appear to share: regime-survival.”

If they think they’re successful in getting away with a no-evidence/no corroboration/no proof “Iranian” ballistic missile attack on Diego Garcia (already Wikipedia “approved” lol) like what could easily be happening right now then maybe they can simply make a claim that a nuke was used and leave it at that and simply discount anyone saying otherwise.

Or maybe they’ll claim this purported failed attack was carrying nukes or radioactive material or something like that… So easy for them to say anything at all.

Anyway before anyone really speaks up about it anywhere close to power, or most people get around to hearing or voicing any skepticism, the zioinists (US/IL etc.) could have already started used their nukes or whatever it is they think is going to work.

Or you could just watch the implosion of the Jewish casino at Wall Street, as pensions and retirements vanish.

That’s silly. Iran’s end game needs to be no more than simply to survive the Empire’s attacks and to the extent possible reduce the Empire’s ability to resume the attacks later. What “posturing” are you talking about and what does that have to do with Iran’s efforts to push back the Empire?

Let’s try run that again seeingas how it has been studiously IGNORED with yet another posts of astroturfing socks.

CHINA GAVE IRAN EVERY SINGLE TOOL USED TO SHOOT DOWN THE F-35. HERE IS THE FULL LIST.

Iran just hit a US F-35. The “unkillable” $100M stealth jet. Everyone is calling it Iran’s win. It wasn’t Iran’s technology. Here’s what China actually gave them:
1f1e8-1f1f3.svg
YLC-8B Radar — 700km range, designed specifically to track F-35 and B-2 stealth aircraft
1f1e8-1f1f3.svg
JY-27A Radar — backup anti-stealth radar system, UHF-band low-frequency surveillance
1f1e8-1f1f3.svg
BeiDou-3 Satellite Navigation — replaced US GPS entirely, unjammable by the United States
1f1e8-1f1f3.svg
500+ Chinese Satellites — live SIGINT feed, terrain mapping, US naval movement tracking in real time
1f1e8-1f1f3.svg
Liaowang-1 Spy Ship — 30,000 tons, 6,000km sensor range, parked near Strait of Hormuz
1f1e8-1f1f3.svg
CETC AI + Cybersecurity Systems — replacing ALL Western tech in Iran since January 2026
1f1e8-1f1f3.svg
PLA Satellite Terrain Maps — precise coordinates of US naval activity in the Persian Gulf
1f1e8-1f1f3.svg
Electronic Warfare Architecture — full military tech stack transition completed before the war started That is 8 separate Chinese military systems actively working against the US F-35. Iran pulled the trigger. China built the weapon. And China is watching every second of this war to collect data on US stealth technology performance. Iran didn’t shoot down an F-35. China shot down an F-35 using Iran’s hands.HD0ySp2bYAAPXsV.jpg.webp

What would be required to open up the top of the volcano which makes up the main island at Diego Garcia ?
Is the volcano so far long dormant that even bunker busters followed by major explosive/destructives would not provoke the volcano to commense eruption again ? This is a question derived from a stupid thought which hasn’t been followed up on with the serious study of oceanic volcanic islands and the construct thereof. Would this make for a serious gungho over-the-top (pun intended) hollywode film story ? ( lite-ing up after weeks of present war study. not to be taken serious)

that has always been the plan to cleave the dying hegemony into a garden.

Condee Rice spent a lot of time telling Europe that they had to disengage from RF resources and get into fracking, tar sands and expensive energy transport from the ‘centre’ of the Western Hemisphere empire.

Merkel still built the NS2 and they waited until she was out to start the new iron curtain building wars.

Europe is screwed because they will not only have ever more expensive USian energy but it will be unreliable.

These deep water facilities are notoriously easy to fail especially if … blown up.

I’d rather not fantasize about destroying Diego Garcia, as in the island. It rightfully belongs to the Chagossians, after all. Precision-striking the military installations is, of course, another matter.

I apply the same reasoning against the repeated calls to use nukes on the occupiers of Palestine.

The inhabitants were ethically cleansed in 1960s to make a military installation there. Everyone and everything on that island is a fair game now.

The spokesperson for Iran’s National Security Commission stated that having veto power for Iran in the UNSC is one of the conditions for ending the war.

Not to fantasize yet to inquire as to whether and if such an action would result.

The Iranian strike at Diego Garcia confirms that the Genocide Jews and their Yankee Jew$laves have been caught believing too much of their own Racist Bullshit.
Iran has 3 satellites in LEO. It would be unusual for a rocket with a nominal terrestrial ballistic range of 2000 km to be used to launch a satellite. It should have been obvious that Iran has missiles with a range far greater than 2000 km.

Since Iran’s Rocket Scientists seem to be capable of making Any Dream come true, Jewrael and the Jew$laves may find it prudent to conduct a Daily Stocktake of their own Satellites.
Orbits are sublimely predictable…

I should add and underline that I am often wrong about stuff (at least if it is only skepticism and speculation) and I don’t want to be a “doomer” or cause people to give in to distress or negative emotions etc.

Follow the “Titmouse” advice and do something nice and try to enjoy life and the world in some manner no matter what, it could be as simple as looking at a cloud or enjoying a tea or cocoa or whatever; help someone (or ask for help yourself, that too can be done as a kindness), be kind 🙂

“Fíréan” ( Mar 21 2026 15:30 utc | 835 ):
I don’t know but my impression is that unless there is a lot of magma already under pressure and ready to go it’s not easy to trigger any volcano (not sure there still is any at Diego Garcia; it and the Chagos islands are part of an underwater mountain range).

The UN, as we know it today, will not exist in 5 years.

Israel has had a de facto veto seat courtesy of the Allied Powers on the UNSC. That is untenable as Israel won’t exist next year.
