War On Iran: – U.S. Losses – Strait Opening – Oil Price Dilemma – Expanding The War

The losses the U.S. military currently incurs in its war on Iran continue to accumulate.

ABC News confirms that Iran has managed to destroy at least 10 radar installation in the Middle East. Most of these were U.S. owned while the rest were supplied to U.S. allies. The loss of early warning radar lets more Iranian missile slip through the U.S. missile defense curtain. It will cause more losses in other installations especially in Israel.

The U.S. Central Command confirmed yesterday that Iranian air defenses managed to hit at least one of its F-35 ‘stealth’ fighter jets. Reportedly the pilot was injured and the plane made a ‘hard landing’ – which likely means that the pilot ejected before the jet crashed down.

This should finally destroy the Lockheed marketing nonsense claim of ‘invisibility’ of its war planes. It also destroys the myth that Iran has lost control over its airspace and that the U.S. has achieve air superiority. In consequence the U.S. will have to continue to use expensive, and exceedingly rare, stand-off weapons to hit targets within Iran instead of doing much cheaper gravity bombing.

The U.S. aircraft carrier Ford had to leave the Middle East for repairs after a ‘laundry fire’ destroyed some 600 berth on board. The Ford carrier was already notorious for its constantly clogged toilets. I strongly suspect that it will have to go back to the U.S. for a long period of overhaul.

The second carrier in the region has been withdrawn to the southern Arab Sea for fear of being attacked by Iranian forces. The long distance from Iran will necessitates the time consuming aerial fueling of its plane when they are launched for sorties against that country.

At least three F-15 fighter jets have been destroyed by alleged ‘friendly fire’ near Kuwait.

Of the 100 MQ-9 Reaper drones the U.S. military had acquired some 10 have been lost in recent reconnaissance missions over Iran.

Some five U.S. KC-135 refueling aircraft were hit during an Iranian strike on Saudi Arabia. An additional one was lost and another damaged during an in-air collision.

All the above isn’t ‘much’ when one considers the total size of U.S. forces but we are only in day 21 of this war and the losses will continue to accumulate.

An Amphibious Readiness Group of three ships with some 2,200 marines on board has been ordered from Japan to the Middle East. It will take at least a week before it will reach its destination. Another ARG is expected to soon leave San Diego to make its way to the Middle East. It will take three weeks before it can be there.

Each ARG, (also known as Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU)) has an 800 men strong ground force on board that can be used for storming a beach, taking a landing strip or some other small scale command missions. The rest of the soldiers on board are supply and support forces. An MEU can support itself for only a week or so before it needs to be relieved by regular forces. Those regular forces are still missing. This makes it likely that the ARGs will do little.

There are speculations in the media that the U.S. will use the ARGs to invade and occupy Kharg island in the northern Persian Gulf region from where Iranian oil is put on ships for export. But to even reach Kharg the ARGs would have to pass through the Strait of Hormuz in what would be a very high risk endeavor. Then comes taking Kharg which in itself is a suicide mission.

There are a handful of Iranian islands within the Strait of Hormuz which are better candidates for a Marine landing. But all of these are, like Kharg, within the reach of Iranian artillery, missiles and drones. To occupy them will require sustained campaigns and the will to suffer extensive losses.

There is also a lot of noise about a U.S. mission to reopen the Strait for Hormuz by providing Navy protection for civilian shipping. But the forces to do that are simply not there (yet). It would need a dozen destroyers plus mine sweepers plus aerial support to allow for such convoy protection missions. At least two of the three U.S. minesweepers which should be in the Middle East are currently in Malaysia. Most of twenty or so available destroyers are currently on carrier protection missions. It will need many weeks, if not months, before the necessary forces can be assembled and put into place.

The Trump administration is in a race of time. Its original plan was to finish the Iran campaign before it would start to move oil prices. But Iran did not submit to U.S. wishes. The chance for Trump to now do a TACO and to chicken out of the crisis is nearly negligible. It takes two sides to stop a war and Iran is not willing to make any concessions.

Yet the administration still has not recognized that it has managed to wedge itself into a long war. Its attempts to lower oil prices is demonstrating that it is still trying to fight windmills.

Under normal circumstances the world consumes about 100 million barrels of crude oil per day. Due to the blockade of the Strait some 15 million of that is currently missing. The first reaction of the markets to such a supply shock is to draw down existing stocks and reserves.

The U.S. has lifted sanctions on Russian oil stored at sea and considers to do the same for some 140 million barrels of floating Iranian reserves. But with 15 million barrels missing per day such one time releases will only supply enough relief for another week or so. The release of a few 100 million barrels from international Strategic Petroleum Reserves will also have little effect. Decisive here is the flow rate, i.e. how much of it can be pumped out and released per day. The flow rate from U.S. salt cavern reserve storages is some 1.2 million barrels per day. The total global reserve flow rate is some 2 million barrels per day. With 15 million barrels per day missing any reserve release will have only minor effects.

The future market oil prices are still hovering around $100 bbl. The real product market price already exceeds $150 bbl. Saudi Arabia is forecasting $180 bbl for early April. The price will have reached $200 bbl by the mid of next month.

Natural gas and LPG prices will see an even steeper rise as 20% of the total capacity is now missing. There are also a number of co-products that come with oil and gas exploration. Nearly half of the global Helium supply, needed for chip production, is missing. Sulfur has become rare. Urea and other fertilizers are now way more expensive. Supplies for specialties like jet-fuels and Nafta, needed for chemical production, are vanishing.

Demand destruction follows supply destruction. If there is less jet-fuel available air-travel will become more expensive and people will book less flights. That may not hurt many. But if there are less fertilizers available to produce food people will start to go hungry. Hunger creates social clashes and revolts.

People may already complain about the prices at the gas pump but we are still far from experiencing the real problems this war will create.

The Trump administration would like to have compliant but still resourceful Iran. Israel, and its U.S. based lobby, is aiming much further. It wants to destroy Iran and, if possible, the whole Gulf region. That is why we are seeing attempts to incite the Arab Gulf states (and Turkey) into directly  joining the war on Iran.

I expect these attempts to intensify until at least some of the Gulf state will take the suicidal step to fight Iran with their own means. That may then become the moment where the U.S. retreats from active participation in the conflict to limit itself to deliver expensive weapon supplies. This is what the Trump administration has done in Ukraine and there are good reasons for it to repeat that scheme in other regions.

The U.S. military has accelerated the deployment of thousands of Marines and sailors to help reinforce its troops fighting against Iran, officials tell Newsmax.

Four officials, speaking on condition of anonymity, say the Boxer Amphibious Ready Group and the 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit are deploying ahead of schedule from the West Coast.

They are expected to sail through the Indo-Pacific to the Middle East region after the Navy was ordered to heighten its posture with additional firepower.

It’s hard to deliver weapons you don’t have and can’t produce because your supply chains are broken. Larry Johnson and Colonel Wilkerson endorse Psychohistorian’s thesis that this is all about the control of global finance–private vs. public–“It’s all about money” is what they agreed upon. Thus, the overall target is BRICS and its three main components–Iran, Russia and China. Wilkerson opined the war could breakout on the oceans with subs versus tankers and other ships. I endorse their analysis. As a result, the entity that began this war isn’t the Zionists; rather, the entity is the Epstein Class that controls Outlaw US Empire policy and Zionist policy, with some Class members within the administration of both governments.

There are people who have said / have feared that this Iran war could be the start of World War III (3). For the time being I don’t know what to believe or to think.

In 1912 the socalled 1st Balkan war was fought and in 1913 the socalled 2nd Balkan war was fought. World War I started in the summer of 1914 and for the first few weeks this conflict was called “the 3rd Balkan War” and only after 2 or 3 months this war was called the “Great War” (or later “World War I”). So, this could be indeed start of something bigger. But there is also a saying that says “History doesn’t repeat itself but it will always rhymes”.

However, I don’t think this will be / grow into a war on the scale of WW I or WW II. Because 1) the firepower of modern military equipment has become much more powerful/lethal/destructive and 2) the price of all that military equipment has gone “through the roof”. That’s why I think this war will be limited to the Middle East and could end much sooner than people expect. I also think that when this war ends it will take A LOT OF time to rebuild US / Israeli / iranian military forces. Lots of questions and very few good answers.

IDF Footage of yesterday’s attack on the Iranian Navy Base and other related targets in the Caspian Sea area (North Iran)

Sometime I believe Russia/China/Iran have a well thought out concerted plan, and that the USA/EU/Israel have a master plan for world domination, and maybe so but there’s a whole lot of confusion, carelessness and outright negligence going on all around, and such is war, but the resistance and especially Iran can little afford it. Why weren’t Iran’s ships in the Caspian moved to Russian bases for safety, a skeleton crew could be left aboard for maintenance, the rest of the men sail or fly home on Russian transport. Hell, Russia has advanced missile frigates in the Caspian, maybe they don’t want to shoot down Israeli planes but they could shoot down Israeli missiles, they could also have lit up the Israeli planes to warn them off, buying time for the ships to sail northwards. What’s the point of losing theses sailors and ships???

Long time lurker and first time commenter here. That thesis is pretty much the basis of the war game that inspired the 80s Canadian movie “Countdown to Looking Glass”. On that movie it was Oman the country that closed down the strait after a series of events (countries defaulting, bomb attack on an embassy, etc). In that movie though, the big final confrontation was between the Americans and the Soviets. The situation escalated to the point of a nuclear exchange.

I agree with marcel | Mar 20 2026 17:54 utc | 13 who noted that Occupied Palestine is in a existential conflict with Iran in the region and the US is in an integral relationship with them because both are under control of the God Of Mammon cult.

This ME conflict is just one theatre in our civilization war and the battles in Ukraine, Taiwan and other nations are further examples showing the global nature of the civilization war we are in……the ME component wants folks to see it as a religious conflict but I see it as the penultimate act of desperation by the God Of Mammon cult.

It is high time and go with Brian Berletic’s idea that Israel is a proxy of the US. Or if you like, and maybe closer to the truth, that both Israel and the US are proxies of the banking syndicate that is allowed to create US dollars out of thin air. No need to change your ideas about the Hebrews that has been planted in your head or that the old tribe in Europe is fighting with the newer, more high-tech tribe in the USA, just keep things simple: it is still one force. This reduces a lot of unnecessary complexities.
Richard D. Wolff and Michael Hudson sort of talk about this in the latest Dialogue Works and it is worth the time to listen to this big-picture overview of the current conflict. Also covered is while the US and EU have sanctions against Russian and Iranian oil, but now Iran, with their military operations, has imposed sanctions against oil priced in dollars. This is exactly what the Western banking system does not want.

As summer coming and a new harvest plus planting season is here. Millions in US west prepare for extreme heatwave. The upcoming heatwave will make farming difficult as the above ground water level across the world have been depleted and wells have been drilling deeper and deeper every year and using diesel/gas pumps to water the crops.

Watch out for the drought ro reduce food yield this year and upcoming years due to climate change.

Transportation prices have risen because of the war disrupt 20% of the world oil and gas supply. This will impact severely upon fertilizer production as many have slowed down or shut down until further stability in the natural gas market and supply chain disruption over.

The most important fertilisers are nitrogen-based products such as urea, which is synthesised from natural gases. This naturally has a compounding effect, as urea production plants across the world will have to reduce outputs following the surging price of natural gas.

The war also blocked a huge amounts of sulphur which is used to produce phosphates. Morocco will be especially affected here as they control 70% of the world’s phosphate reserves, which must be processed with sulphuric acid in order to become a viable fertiliser.

Ansar Allah ( Houthi ) has declared they’re now joining the war to blockade any shipments heading toward Israel and will strike all US and Israeli ships. This will reroute bulk shipments of perishable products such as livestocks, wheat, foods as the rerouting to go around African continent will add a month journey or longer as the ports are overloaded with high traffic, Transportation cost, insurance cancelation, etc.

Geopolitical tensions as nations are as predicted here on MoA are now banning exports of food, fertilizer, fuel, essential resources for national security.

In short: The future will see food prices going up.

B’s summary misses the key point:  Iran is targeting its Arab neighbors’ production facilities, and interfering with them selling their oil and LNG.  The only possible description of this is “Stupidity”!

It would be defensible for Iran to attack US bases — and maybe accidentally cause some collateral damage to their Arab neighbors.  But directly attacking key civilian installations will never be forgotten …. or forgiven.

Too many of the Iran enthusiasts seem to assume that everyone except the US and Iran is a Non-Playing Character.  But Saudi has missiles which can destroy anything the US leaves standing in Iran, and the UAE can close the Straits of Hormuz just as effectively as Iran can.  There are long memories in that part of the world, and Iran’s stupidity ensures that it will suffer for years to come, long after the US has finished bombing and gone away.

” lifted sanctions on Russian oil stored at sea and considers to do the same for some 140 million barrels of floating Iranian reserves.”
Do they think this oil will be delivered to US allies?  I think China and India would welcome the entire lot.

The U.S. has lifted sanctions on Russian oil stored at sea and considers to do the same for some 140 million barrels of floating Iranian reserves. But with 15 million barrels missing per day such one time releases will only supply enough relief for another week or so.
b

“140 million barrels of floating Iranian reserves”  is a claim made by the United States Secretary of the Treasury. Iranian analysts estimate the real figure to be around 70 million barrels. This exaggerated manner of announcement by Scott Bessent indicates peak panic in Washington.

But Saudi has missiles which can destroy anything the US leaves standing in Iran, and the UAE can close the Straits of Hormuz just as effectively as Iran can.

Any idea what they are waiting for? How long will they wait after the US has left the Gulf before they finish off Iran?

The future market oil prices are still hovering around $100 bbl. The real product market price already exceeds $150 bbl. Saudi Arabia is forecasting $180 bbl for early April. The price will have reached $200 bbl by the mid of next month.

If true then there is a ton of money to make easily.  You can buy Spring 2027 oil for low $70s a barrel. With less than 10% margin up front.https://www.tradingview.com/symbols/NYMEX-CL1!/forward-curve/Just look at what the markets thing prices will be next year.b should killing it pretty quickly.Alternatively all the talk of much much higher oil was bollocks.(not true for gas for reasons b described a couple of weeks ago – much harder to restart production and the forward curve reflects a much longer period of high prices

Institutions are holding onto USD because they need liquidity but soon when the de dollarization process begins. The high inflation shock will be here as cash will be converted into safer assets such as Gold or Yuan.

It won’t be a hyperinflation as the USA is blessed with natural resources and somewhat energy independence same as China as she diversified her risk and hedged against an oil crisis long ago together with her massive factory production capability.

Poorer nations will have to struggle and survive and selling whatever they have as larger nations will have plenty of options to barter with eachother.

The future as I predicted is fragmented with diversified supply chains, less employments and globalism as a dead concept.

Non comprehension on your part. Iran is intent on forcing the Gulf countries to choose between the US, which has effectively withdrawn all defences from these states in favour of Israel, and itself, which has shown and continues to show, that it can defend against the US and the Zionazis. The US has shown itself to be cowardly, non-trustworthy, incompetent and ill-equipped for intensive war. Internal Arab popular feeling is against Israel and the US, so the Gulf states would be well advised to cleave to Iran, if they want to stay on their very expensive and delicate thrones.

Re karlof1’s post (#5) concurring with Johnson and Wilkerson that this war is about control of the international monetary system:
Add Alex Krainer to that list, but he goes deeper, identifying the Chabad movement and several of its known past adherents such as Menachem Shneerson and Netanyahu, with the sequential steps of 1) gross collective evil by the Chosen People (Gaza genocide and widespread pedophilia, for example), angering God who then 2) sends their true messiah to 3) rebuild the Temple and 4) establish a world kingdom headquartered in Jerusalem. For Krainer, control of the world monetary system is only one piece of the plan. https://substack.com/@alexkrainer/note/p-191452386?r=1msz85&utm_medium=ios&utm_source=notes-share-action

Do you want a vision of how this ends?

After the Iraq/Iran war, Iran tracked down and killed everyone on the Iraqi side and killed them over decades, even if they moved or changed their names.

Do you think Trump had anything to do with the assassination of the Ayatollah or the schoolgirls? Hegseth, Rubio, Vance?

Personal opinion: The USA lifting sanctions on Russia and Iran won’t have an impact on the oil crisis as their oil and gas are being delivered to nations that already ignored US sanctions anyway with or without US approval.

As the crisis has no end date yet. Nations will simply store their oil and gas in their bidding frenzy. This will not dampen the price as now and in the future, nations across the world will hoard onto their oil and gas like treasures.

The market will be stable but from now until that point. Anything Trump does is futile as the oil and gas facilities that costs billions and take years to build with workers with decades of training are all gone.

Iran BOMBS Israel’s Nevatim Air Base BREAKING: Cluster Bombs RAIN DOWN – F-35 Jets Destroyed?

Last night, the skies over southern Israel turned into a battlefield… On March 18, Iran launched wave after wave of ballistic missiles — and this time, the target wasn’t random. It was Nevatim Air Base — Israel’s most advanced and strategically critical military installation in the Negev Desert.

This is the base that houses Israel’s F-35 stealth fighter jets — the backbone of its long-range strike capability. And according to multiple circulating videos…the attack looked intense.
Trails of missiles lighting up the night sky. Explosions reported near the baseClaims that cluster warhead missiles were used — weapons designed to break apart mid-air and scatter multiple explosives, making them much harder to intercept

Once again, thanks everyone for posting updates on Iran cleansing West Asia of colonialism and imperialism.
Several people have mentioned that this is an economic war more than anything else. I concur with that statement. The USA and Israel (the Epstein Regime) are both tails to be used at the behest of the financial/oligarchic dog. The dog has a whole arsenal of tail to select from: sometimes it’s white supremacists on Russia’s border (Mexico’s too), sometimes it’s “Islamic” fundamentalists around Occupied Palestine’s borders, sometimes it’s NATO to destroy Libya, Iraq, Yugoslavia…, sometimes it’s the mob to halt communist organizing in Italy. It seems that Iran knew that and beyond directly eliminating the military threats in West Asia, they are upsetting the ‘Rules-based Financial Oligarchy’. It is a master class in the art of modern war.
As for Russia and China, I think they are playing their roles perfectly. There is no point in doing anything that might stop your enemy from losing.

We are entering a new age of warfare. Iran can simply send operators far away from its Iranian area of operation to use shaheeds launcher containers to strike any military base around the world.

Ukranian once did strike many of Russian nuclear deterrent bomber aircraft in Siberia. Thus, this is possible for other nations such as Iran to strike softer US targets around the world.

You can always make it sound better than it is. I think one of the most demoralizing things for a soldier is not being able to defend yourself. The bombs keep falling and must inflict high casualties. Latest I heard was the US using A-10 and Apache in the Strait of Hormuz. All in all the US and Israeli losses are low if you look at the scale of operations. Body bags and aircraft are the most painful targets for them.
Iran must go to the end, this means reshaping the Middle  East. The US can’t militarize the ME again, which will be another threat to Iran. The Gulf States are turning against Iran, so we might see more weapons for a future war. Therefor I see another party as China entering, securing Iran but also maybe Iraq. It would make a future war against more complicated when these countries has the means to defend their territory and airspace.
Choking the world economy doesn’t hurt the US the most. Poor countries suffer first, Europe takes another plunge, US will start feeling if world economy drops. So targeting the US and doing direct losses is the best way to make it painful as possible. And you never know that the Iranian military collapse. Then China and Russia can blame themselves. Also Israel bombed in the Caspian Sea, Russia is so weak compared to Iran.
All we can do is wait until disaster strikes.

Leaving aside the condemnation of Iran’s actions alone (I suppose there’s no point in even condemning the real instigators of this situation), Saudi-UAE relations were beginning to get a lot more tense before this crisis broke out, due to the UAE making plays in Yemen, inciting regional instability in Sudan and siding with Israel’s meddling in Somaliland.  The initial rapprochement between SA and Iran facilitated by China therefore stands in opposition to the burgeoning UAE-Israel alliance.
