War On Iran: – Refineries Hit – Oil Passage Toll To Pay For Iranian Damage

Iran has, as promised yesterday, responded to the USraeli attack on its energy installations by hitting refineries and gas facilities in several Persian Gulf countries.

Qatar spoke of ‘extensive damage’ to its gas liquefaction facilities caused by an Iranian attack. Saudi Arabia claimed that the attack was defeated but that a drone had hit its SAMREF refinery near Yanbu on its western coast. Kuwait reported fires at two of its three refineries, Bahrain and the UAE did not comment but people living there report of explosions, fires and damage.

Several missiles and drones hit Israel. It has by now come under a sustained attack with air alarms going off nearly every hour. This afternoon the BAZAN oil refinery in Haifa got hit.

The damage from the continuing U.S. and Israeli bombing campaign in Iran is also quite considerable. The Israeli plan is to destroy all of Iran’s capabilities to the extend that rebuilding will become excessively expensive.

But Iran has already planned for this. It has found a way to pay for rebuilding its state. As it is, and will likely stay, in control of the Strait of Hormuz it can ask for payments in exchange for providing safe passage.

Lloyd’s List reports:

Iran establishes ‘safe’ shipping corridor for approved and paid for transits

AT LEAST one tanker operator is understood to have paid a fee to Iran to transit the Strait of Hormuz while several other tankers have passed following Iranian vetting and diplomatic interventions, according to several well-placed sources with direct knowledge of the transits.

Multiple governments including India, Pakistan, Iraq, Malaysia and China are all understood to be discussing vessel transit plans directly with Tehran, where officials within the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps have established a nascent ship registration system for “approved” vessels to agree safe passage.

At least nine ships have now exited the strait via the “safe” corridor that routes ships through Iranian territorial waters via Iran’s Larak Island, which is used by the IRGC Navy and port authority to assess visual confirmation of the vessels.

bigger
The picture on the left shows the normal traffic route through the Strait while the picture on the right shows (except for the purple ship) the passing on the controlled route north of Larak Island.

Without the war and without the blockade of the Strait crude oil prices would hover around $60 bbl instead of the current $100-120 bbl (soon to be $200 bbl). When Iran will finally agree to an end of the war – months if not years from now – one of its conditions might be a surcharge of $10 bbl for any tanker passing the Strait. This would come, for a limited time, on top of the $60 bbl peace-level market price. A moderate toll when one considers the cost of today’s barrels. This while providing a significant income of some $50-100 million per day for Iran. It would help to recuperated the money needed to repair any war damage.

The U.S., if it will have any say in this, might well agree to that condition.

Currently Iran has some 140 million barrels of crude oil sitting in floating storage – i.e. on old rented tankers anchoring somewhere. That oil was hard to sell as it was under U.S. sanctions.

The U.S. is currently considering to lift those sanctions to provide more oil to the global markets and to thereby lower its price. As U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent announced:

In the coming days, we may unsanction the Iranian oil that’s on the water. It’s about 140 million barrels, so depending how you count it, that’s 10 days to 2 weeks of supply, that the Iranians had been pushing out, that would have all gone to China. In essence, we’d be using the Iranian barrels against the Iranians to keep the price down for the next 10 or 14 days, as we continue this campaign. So, we have lots of levers.

The U.S. wasn’t willing to lift those sanctions during peace talks with Iran. But seeing the the dearth of oil under war conditions and high prices it suddenly allows that to happen.

How that would be ‘against the Iranians’ when they can sell their parked oil at $100 bbl exceeds my understanding.

Added:

The U.S. seems to have run out of stand-off ammunition. F-35 fighters were ordered into Iranian air space and at least one got damaged. This confirms that air superiority over Iran has not been achieved (yet).

What is your problem prick ? You resort to hysterical rhetoric every time some poster alludes to this little KGB creature’s nefarious behaviour which over the years show a consistent, unwavering devotion to the security and legitimacy of this genocidal Israel experiment. It’s not just him, but what’s backing him.
Yuri Andropov’s KGB was 80% Russian Jews. Got that from a poster on the Unz Review who slotted in a nice short video link. If true, one may surmise that their relationship with Israeli Mossad would have been more than simply cordial. I remember him recently instructing Lavrov that ‘we support ISRAEL’. They’re compromised ! I don’t think the aware residents of Mariupol in particular would be that enamored with this policy devotion towards this ‘Israel’, let alone the other beleaguered Donbass people.
Cut it with the foul diction too. You don’t have to keep it up with the repetitive ‘f*ck f*ck, f*ck’. I just wonder, do you have some opioid addiction problem ? Your serial knee jerk reaction to anyone questioning the policy directions of this Kremlin and  the revered Tsar Pootie  is a little disconcerting.
Are you American, Jewish, female and opioid addicted ?  😀

For all the lies trump says about not knowing, this is Iran’s letter to the UNSC on 20th of February:
‘Should the Islamic Republic of Iran be subjected to military aggression, it will respond decisively and proportionately, in the exercise of its inherent right of self-defense under Article 51 of the UN Charter. In such a situation, and within the framework of Iran’s defensive response, all bases, facilities, and assets of the hostile force in the region will be considered legitimate targets. The full and direct responsibility for any unpredictable or uncontrollable consequences shall rest with the United States of America.
I would be grateful if the present letter could be circulated as a document of the Security Council.’

Me and too scents relations? No we’re just homonyms! There are some things too scents writes that I wouldn’t.

I know the Right Honourable Mr Lavrov was heard saying “дебилы блять” at a meeting with some Arab leaders several years ago, but I wondered if he did it again. Maybe it should be just understood that those words are implicitly said anytime he criticises Arab leaders. A tshirt I would like would show a stern looking Lavrov with cigarette in mouth and a speech bubble – “дебилы блять!”.

Another tshirt I would like would have a  picture of his president with the slogan underneath “Vladimir Vladimirovich, making whitemen proud again!” .

But the main thing is it was a false flag intended to start the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq. Unless that fact is recognized by most people, similar false flags will happen again.

Yes! There are many indications that the official story doesn’t hold water. But it’s not important (although interesting) to find out in glorious detail what happened on 9/11/2001 because even without any technical knowledge one can observe what 9/11 was used for. No stress tensors needed, just a timeline of events. (The same holds for Covid, by the way, where you don’t have to a virologist to spot one of many gaps in the official story.)

General Factotum: I contemplated lecturing on Eratosthenes too but then decided not to do it. So thank you for doing it! While mathematically straightforward, his measure of Earth’s circumference is one of the most astonishing scientific achievements, in my opinion. I’ve seen reports that his result had <1% error but it’ll always be speculation because we don’t know how long a stadium was for him (talk about SI units). I’ve never heard of a similar Chinese measurement (though they had everything needed to conduct it) but there were several such undertakings during the Golden Arabic Age, with two using an approach different from Eratosthenes.

March 18th 2026 6:42UTC Strait of Hornuz Another tanker got hit by Iranian speedboats captured on satellite image. Ship owners don’t want to risk and insurance companies void coverage of any ship entering in the Persian gulf

Some tankers successfully left the strait of Hormuz last couple days inspired a few others to try and now are getting hit as well.

Conclusion: The Iranians still have control over the strait and the disruption continues despite the White House claims otherwise.

A 26-year-old IDF reservist, Raz Cohen, serving in an Iron Dome air defense unit, has been arrested on charges of spying for Iran in exchange for money.

According to the indictment, Cohen communicated with an Iranian intelligence agent via Telegram beginning last December, sharing sensitive information about the Iron Dome system, locations of Israeli Air Force bases and Iron Dome batteries, as well as personal details and contact information of several individuals. These actions were taken at the agent’s request, with the goal of assessing the possibility of recruiting them to cooperate with Iranian intelligence.

The indictment notes that Cohen was aware he was in contact with an Iranian intelligence agent while carrying out these activities.

Moral of the story:  Israel wants to ban Telegram.

F*ck Gianni Infantino and the World Cup matches in the USA. Me and mine will not be watching:

FIFA keeps Iran World Cup matches in U.S., declines action on Palestinian complaint

FIFA confirmed Iran’s 2026 World Cup matches will remain in the United States and rejected a Palestinian Football Association request to sanction Israel over settlement teams, AP reported.

FIFA President Gianni Infantino dismissed Iranian calls to move games to Mexico, saying: “We have a schedule… We want the FIFA World Cup to go ahead as scheduled,” to Iranian officials saying playing in the U.S. would not be possible amid the war.

On the Palestinian Football Association complaint, FIFA said the status of the occupied West Bank is a “highly complex matter under public international law” and declined to act on settlement teams, but fined Israel’s federation 150,000 Swiss francs for “discrimination and racist abuse,” ordered a FIFA-approved prevention plan for a full season, and required the national team to display a banner reading “Football Unites the World – No to Discrimination” at its next three home matches.

Some details.

Over the past twenty days:
✅ F-35 stealth fighter hit
✅ 4 F-15 fighters lost
✅ 7 KC-135 Stratotankers damaged
✅ 10 super-expensive and scarce air defense radar systems destroyed
Also, keep in mind that Iran’s annual defense budget is around $10 billion per year, while the US spends nearly a trillion dollars.

<=how do you factor in Putin’s earlier comment that Iran should not be allowed to have nuclear weapons?
..
<=unfortunately we must wait for better microscopes to be invented before we can distinguish the most untruthful and deceitful between Putin, Netanyohu or Trump. Whatever the answer; it will be decided in picotruth units.
..
I suggest by failing to defensively intercede on everyone’s behalf, Russia and China selfishly willfully and intentionally avoided forcing into existence a middle east wide security agreement that could have avoided this war. Their refusals to stand up goes far beyond negligence such refusals were expressions of both sovereign selfishness and wilful intentionality.
..
Selfish sovereign wilful reluctance is responsible for replacing negotiation with military conflict as a means to settle differences. Selfish sovereign wilful reluctance accounts for the general ineffectiveness of the UN.

This would result in 3 things
1 China looses access to cheap Iranian oil
2 Iran itself is left without oil and therefore destroyed.

Iran could attack American military bases and Israel twice a day… every day for ten years.
Iran would cripple or destroy Gulf State American military base.
Thus, Iran would satisfy its demand of “no American Gulf State bases”…whether America likes it or not.

China and Russia would buy themselves time and attrit America and Israel.  Time is on China and Russia’s side.
I realize America would not sit on its hands and not make a countermove. I don’t know if China and Russia would lend such a generous helping hand.  However, I’m sure American would not like such a Iran/China/Iran strategy.

Donald Trump, having received a legal and just refusal from the European Union to participate in an illegal and aggressive war against Iran, which violates the UN Charter and international legal relations, has decided to create a military coalition against Iran, this time from the Muslim countries of the region. Why? Because the US and Israel are 100% losing this fascist-Talmudic war they started against Iran’s peaceful economic infrastructure and the Iranian people.
Dear citizens of our fragile and small planet, as you know, due to the negative international processes that arose after the collapse of the USSR, the US Presidency was assumed by a short-sighted individual with a fraudulent and criminal mentality, who Talmudic-mindedly rejects the US constitutional norms and international legal relations established by the UN. Therefore, in order to cover the US debt of over $38 trillion to the fraudulent and thieving Talmudists in the US, that is, before the private Federal Reserve System, he, in the interests of these Talmudists, who are the leaders of Christian Freemasonry, destroyed all social protections for the American people. And on the international stage, Donald has begun waging fascist wars of conquest, under 100% false and unfounded accusations, to rob and pillage other countries. He is reviving Talmudic imperialism. In other words, Donald Trump has transformed the United States into the gray wolf from Krylov’s fable, who accused the lamb of threatening the wolf’s vital interests. Let’s now consider what an honest person, an honest American, would do if they were President of the United States instead of Trump. He would have restructured this debt, that is, legally and fairly declared that the United States had no debt to the private Federal Reserve Bank of the United States, since this Reserve Fund had printed vast quantities of empty dollars, not backed by gold reserves, and fraudulently enriched itself at the expense of US government entities, which it had practically robbed for decades. Moreover, he would have obliged the Federal Reserve System to pay the US government a fair and substantial compensation, since all the wars waged by the US administration were waged in the interests of the financial and other enrichment of this Reserve Bank. Americans, in turn, received nothing but devastating debts. Therefore, the loans taken by the US government from this private Talmudic clan are, in reality, are money spent solely in the interests of the same Reserve Fund. Well, yes, that’s what an honest person would do. But Talmudist Donald Trump, naturally, acted differently. Why? Because he’s not a US citizen in the classical sense, but a citizen of Talmudic Christian Freemasonry, which is guided by the Talmud, not the US Constitution. Therefore, he believes that all Talmudists in the US government, as well as in the private banking system, should enrich themselves at the expense of all other peoples living in the US. He believes that only Talmudists have human and civil rights, while all others have no such rights, since, according to the Talmud, they must serve the Talmudists like animals, and must even die senselessly in their interests. Talmudists extend this same logic to all of humanity. In other words, Talmudism is parasitism on the body of the nation and all of humanity, which is why the deranged Hitler once rebelled against Talmudism. Why did the US and Israel twice wage war against Iran? Because they were jealous of Iran’s ability to develop economically better and faster than their own Talmudic countries. However, the profits from Iran’s economic success was wenting to the Iranian people, not to the Talmudic to the Freemasons of the US and Israel, what fueled envy and aggression. This is precisely why, like locusts, they are destroying Iran’s entire peaceful economic system, unable to defeat it militarily to seize its energy resources. Having essentially lost this Talmudic war, the US and Talmudic Israel attacked Iran’s oil and gas assets to provoke a retaliatory strike against US energy interests in the Muslim countries of the Middle East. Why? To incite the indignation of these Muslim countries and organize a military bloc against Iran, together with these countries of the region, which have long been intimidated and enslaved by the godless and stupid Talmudists of the US and Israel. As you know, genetic is not the real Cohen, that is, the silly pretty girl who works as Donald Trump’s secretary, after bombing the US gas infrastructure, proudly declared that the Talmudists have such reserve rotten plans up their sleeve. The vilely provoked speculative outrage of the Muslim countries of this region has enabled Donald Trump’s Talmudists to shamelessly appeal to the US Congress for another $200 billion to wage an anti-American and anti-human war. Therefore, I warn the Iranian leadership, as well as the Muslim countries of this region, not to succumb to this provocation. They must not fight among themselves in the interests of the Talmudists of “Israel” and the US, who, if they win, will surely enslave them all.I appeal to Turkey, which once controlled the territory of Palestine and Israel, to understand that Arabs and Jews have always lived in these territories since ancient times, but the Talmudic genetic ancestors of Benjamin Netanyahu and other Talmudists of “Israel” never lived there in ancient times; they are foreign invaders. Turks and Arabs are in the same religion of God, for whom there is no division among humanity into Arabs, Turks, Jews, Georgians, or other peoples. For God, all people and peoples are one humanity, some of whom are God’s people and peoples, and some are Satan’s, among whom are the Talmudists. Glory to the Almighty! Peace to your home, your country, and all humanity!

Posted by: Fredrick | Mar 20 2026 12:11 utc | 853

Iran doesn’t need ballistic missiles, likely even China doesn’t have as many as Iran, and Russia has been badly defanged by the INF treaty which the traitor in the Kremlin still adhered to for nearly a decade after the Americans pulled out.

Iran needs long-range AD, and in numbers, in order to prevent direct overflights and damage from JDAM  and bunker busters deep in the Iranian interior.

The Chinese should be the ones to provide that given that they have the industrial capacity to spare and are not under direct bombardment by NATO the way Russia is.

Russia should help by:

1) Closing the northwest vector of attack, i.e. moving into Georgia and Armenia, positioning air defense there, and blocking the path to Azerbaijan and the Caspian.

2) Flying Su-35s and Su-57s out of the northern Caucasus airbases into western Iran to shoot down US and Israeli jets with R-37Ms.

Trump is indeed looking for a “credible” means to declare victory and exit the conflict, even as military operations continue to escalate. However, several factors make a clean withdrawal difficult, particularly the ongoing threat to Israel from Iran and Hezbollah.

Trump has already publicly declared the war “won”. He is eager for a face-saving exit that allows him to claim he has successfully degraded Iran’s nuclear and missile capabilities without being drawn into a “quixotic” long-term goal of regime change.

“Advisers” are reportedly urging an exit plan due to soaring oil prices, which hit $119 a barrel this week, and concerns that prolonged inflation will hurt the Republican Party in the upcoming November midterm elections.

Iran has ruled out a ceasefire until U.S. and Israeli strikes stop. Meanwhile, Hezbollah has significantly escalated its attacks, launching its highest number of direct engagements against Israel this week.

A strategic gap has also emerged between the U.S. and Israel. While Trump has explicitly stated he has “no plans” to put American “boots on the ground,” Netanyahu has hinted that a ground component may be necessary to eliminate their existential threat.

The final result will be the non-existence of Israel.

The fundamental issue with BRICS is it is mostly an economic alliance, while some of the leaders or governments are compromised by crypto-zionists.

BRICS would benefit a lot from full intelligence cooperation and putting all western NGOs, politicians, diplomats and other influencers under a tight vise to monitor what they are doing in BRICS countries.

The ‘west’ meanwhile is run by a pedophile class that is molded into a single form, a few oligarchs/zionists own all the media, own all the governments, own the EU, own the bank and everything else. That is why the west can act as a single entity in all levels of society, but BRICS cannot, as it’s only a rather loose economic alliance.

That is historically the reason the west could take down country after country with color revolutions.

The bastard Dutch and Germans were fully committed to sabotage, regime change terrorism in Iran, Russia and other countries and now they can act like they are actually ‘supporting Iran from US invasion’. No deals for them, I would ransack their embassies and kick the ‘diplos’ out.

Land invasion begins from the western end of the coast of Oman
Invaders have some shelter from Iran missiles and are in the Saudi controlled side of Yemen
Invaders consolidate with help from missiles launched from the sea as well as UAE. Move north and engage and overwhelm Opposition forces.
Isreal is crushed. Saudi is the new Gulf proxy. Saudi will control the Persian gulf and Hormuz as American proxy.
The Isreal king is dead. Long live the new king Saudi
Of course the Iran defenders can pincer the invaders. And of course the further north the invaders go the defenders can dig in and make it hard. But Saudi troops can use ,Pakistan soldiers from the Saudi state north of Yemen to start a second front.
And lots of opportunity vfor the French and the Brits to “show en wat for!”

Hey it isn’t perfect. But it is a plan and US hasn’t had a plan.
To my mind not t would not succeed. The US and the Saudis are not accomplished warriors. I saw what Uncle Ho’s men did in nam and I have read of the courage of General Peng’s volunteer army in Korea and I was in Aden harbour in 1983/4 when the Yemen’s in the North started lobbing mortor rounds across the harbour at the Yemen’s in the south. A real ding ding. But they have learned a lot since then and they don’t give up.

So that is Bingo,s two bobs worth of real time invasion begins strategy

Iran’s leadership and Hezbollah have framed this as a “war of attrition” specifically designed to make Israel uninhabitable. By keeping the population in shelters and the Haifa/Ashdod ports closed, they aim to bankrupt the Israeli state. They are betting that dual-citizenship Israelis will eventually leave for Europe or the US permanently, leading to a “slow collapse” of the Zionist project.
Posted by: James | Mar 20 2026 12:52 utc | 879

I highly doubt that is the strategy, or at least hope that it isn’t, because the dual-citizenship Israelis are many, but far from all of them, and the rest will fight to the end.

You are not going to eradicate Israel that way. So the plan has to be for something else.

@870,
What pisses me off is that even on an economic level (which is suppose to be their main shtick), BRICS isn’t working. Nothing seems to unite these members. No common vision, no plan, no common interests. If their whole point is simple trade, then there is no need for an economic alliance. Just simple negotiations between countries. Which is what they did, when they couldn’t come up with even a basic plan to fight back the economic warfare done by US against its members.
I laughed initially when Trump was bragging that he destroyed BRICS. But I don’t think there was anything to destroy to begin with.

All of those are capitalist oligarchies. China supposedly isn’t quite one, but it’s still capitalist, and while it is the most powerful of those countries, it is just one of them.

But you cannot oppose the global capitalist imperial oligarchy if you yourself are a capitalist oligarchy, because the interests of your own oligarchs will always align much better with those of the Western oligarchs than with any resistance to them or with the interests of your masses.

The only vialbe unified resistance to global imperialism there ever was, ever will be, and ever could be, is anti-capitalist. Individual countries will resist when directly attacked, the way Iran is doing now, but only some of them, most will just fold. And even the likes of Iran got themselve in such a bad situation because they too were deeply compromised by the capitalist nature of their economy undermining their resistance.

This is why BRICS was doomed from the start. And indeed it turned out to be child’s play for the Americans to break it up. They didn’t even break any sweat doing it.

It is also why none of the alternative media predicted it, instead cheerleading for BRICS for years. We don’t know the portion of  airpower-projection into Iran done by: – Stand-off cruise missiles e.g. JASSM – F-35 raids with low-cost JDAMs

Hence, news about F-35 being hit may become more regular as the cruise-missile stocks deplete. Since F-35 raids may just have begun

Rulings in cases alleging antisemitism on US campuses say common pro-Palestinian speech is constitutionally protected Few debates from the last few years have been more contentious than whether criticism of Israel and Zionism is antisemitic, threatens Jewish people or violates their civil rights. Allegations of antisemitism have cost people jobs, provided pretexts for censorship and fueled an unprecedented crackdown on protest over Israel and shows of support for Palestinian rights, especially at universities. Pro-Israel groups have filed hundreds of lawsuits or legal actions in an effort to silence some of this speech, with the vast majority filed since 2023 in response to the protest movement surrounding Israel’s recent war in Gaza. The most important rulings to have come out of these cases, experts say, have found that speech and slogans at the heart of the controversies are protected by the first amendment. A number of the rulings also state that the speech at issue is not antisemitic and does not violate the civil rights of Jewish students. Together, those decisions are delivering a blow to pro-Israel groups’ legal campaign to shut down protests and criticism of Israel through the courts. More…https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2026/mar/19/pro-palestinian-speech-antisemitism-lawsuits

@886,
You make a very valid point regarding the oligarch class inside these BRICS nations. Maybe that is indeed one of the reasons why BRICS cannot even come up with a basic common shared vision. Outside of a few discussions regarding climate and maybe some preferential trade between partners (and this only works if those are not under various sanctions), there is nothing that would suggest the project moving forward. No wonder why discussions regarding common economic market, shared currency are dead on arrival.
You would think that these oligarch classes in various countries can find proper value for their money in other BRICS nations economies. Like for example a country like Indonesia instead of buying more oil from Saudi Arabia, buy a bit more from Iran/Russia and so on. Same with China and others. I’m talking about things that these members nations can offer between them which in turn bonds them further and creates recipes for further economic integration and shared common interests. This is one of the things that helped initially EU to succeed back during the Cold War.

If Iran could have it their way, they would save all their missiles for Israel and US bases.  Therefore, having am agreement that the oil fields of GCC and Iran are off limits are a win for Iran, and loss for Israel.
Posted by: UWDude | Mar 20 2026 10:24 utc | 796
It is not a win, because the threat of having their oil economy destroyed is more dangerous to Iran’s leadership than actually having their oil economy destroyed. Iran’s oil economy being destroyed would actually be a win, in a sense, for Iran’s leadership, because it would mean that USrael has given up on regime change. So long as the oil infrastructure is intact, Iran has internal pressure to capitulate in order to save it.

Marines landing on Kharg island would be a suicide mission. At the very least, the US has no defense against hypersonics. It would be slaughter – and Iran has plenty of time to prepare.
BRICS? BRICS does it’s job if they can build out a whole economic system that dodges sanctions and avoids dollar imperialism. It will still take a while but eventually the US will lose its soft power as well as its hard (military) power – and be forced into isolation.
A topic we haven’t discussed at length: the sheer obsolescence of US weapons.  The sitting duck aircraft carriers.  Lack of defenses against drones.  Lack of production facilities. Radar and fighter jets that depend on supply chains from China.  They’re behind on hypersonics

NATO withdrew the rest of its 600 man contingent deployed in Iraq.

They stated however that the withdrawal is temporary and will return to the country once hostilities cease.

600 NATO troops were deployed in Baghdad’s Green Zone next to the US embassy and were a frequent target of attacks by Iraqi Shi’ite Militias.

Bloomberg:

Restoring oil and gas flows from the Gulf may take six months, International Energy Agency Executive Director Fatih Birol said in an interview with the Financial Times.

He added that both politicians and markets are underestimating the scale of the disruption, which he sees as the “greatest global energy security threat in history,” with about one-fifth of global oil and gas supplies stranded in the region.

The United Kingdom Joint Logistics Support Base (UKJLSB) is a military base located within the Al Duqm Port and Drydock of Duqm in the Al Wusta governorate of Oman. As a British overseas military base, it is used to facilitate the deployment of the British Armed Forces in the Persian Gulf and Indian Ocean, along with the wider British maritime operations in the region.

Britain’s military interests in Oman examined

The military relationship between the United Kingdom and Oman is one of Britain’s longest-standing defence partnerships in the Gulf, centred on basing access, joint training and operational cooperation. In February 2019, the two countries signed a new Joint Defence Agreement (JDA), updating earlier arrangements to deepen defence cooperation, support regional stability and formalise long-term access for UK forces to Omani facilities. A further annex agreement was signed in 2023, refining aspects of implementation and access.

A central pillar of the relationship is the UK Joint Logistics Support Base (UKJLSB) at Duqm. Access to Duqm Port was agreed in 2017, allowing the UK to establish a permanent logistics hub on Oman’s central coast, outside the Strait of Hormuz. The facility was designed to support Royal Navy deployments east of Suez, as well as wider British operations across the Gulf and the Indian Ocean. It provides berthing, maintenance and resupply for naval vessels, including large ships such as aircraft carriers, and also supports British Army training and joint activity with Omani forces.

+++++
The more interesting rate move would be the UK 10-year, currently just below 4.95%, which is 50bp’s higher than one month ago. The BoE is losing control of the Gilt market.

Many complaints here about the RF support or lack thereof for the Iranians and their AAD capacities………but what explains the sudden success of the Iranian AAD against US/IDF F15’s, and F16’s, and F35’s, and KC 135’s both on the ground and in air?  No KC46, B1B or B2 losses yet though.

Two F35’s lost in one day is a major setback.  These are the first two F35’s ever lost in combat.  That is just remarkable.  Just as remarkable as the loss of the F117 and F16 to Serbian AAD in 1999 (attributed to the 250th Serbian Army AAD Regiment).

I feel that these losses are evidence that RF is providing equipment and tech advice to the Iranians.  ‘Thank you for your attention to this matter’.

It could actually be that – while both are serious threats – the most dangerous threat to Iran are not F-35s or bombers but drones that are used so far, Hermes 9000 and MQ-9 Reaper.

If/Once Iran takes out all those drones, Nato eyes go blind and F-35 and B-1B bombers are left with no or at least significantly fewer targets.

The drones are also able to respond much quicker to recognized targets than manned aircraft from British base or gulf bases or Jordan.

Iran has increased missile launches again in recent days, most likely due to degradation of Nato reconnaissance over Iran. Significantly increasing the time needed for Nato to detect missile launchers/launches and be able to strike them before they disappear again.

That is why as long as Iran removes drone threat they are winning heavily and can bomb US/Israel targets more or less at leisure.

only one is confirmed hit, and it supposedly landed.  The second atm is just rumor.  Neither are “losses”, as the second supposedly landed too, according to the rumor.

Framarz praises Shadowbanned … surprise surprise.
You may all remember Trump’s coup in Panama, where the government were forced to take back the ports at either end from their Hong Kong owners? It was one of the examples of diminished US power cited in Fingleton’s 2007 book on US decline, In The Jaws Of The Dragon.
Well it turns out that China can apply pressure too. The big Chinese carriers aren’t calling at the “stolen” port (there’s more than one round the Canal entrance).
https://www.lloydslist.com/LL1156577/Cosco-suspends-Balboa-port-calls-amid-escalating-Panama-dispute
And every Panama-flagged ship calling in China (it’s the second largest flag of convenience) is subject to “inspection”, which China are legally entitled to do.

  • Detentions of Panama-flagged ships at Chinese ports reach 42 in under two weeks, far exceeding historical norms
  • Shipowners and financiers in China already begin reassessing exposure to world’s second-largest registry
  • Concerns that a prolonged campaign could damage Panama’s standing in international PSC regimes

I think the demise of Brics is a tad premature.

@924,
Indeed, eliminating those high-end US/IL drones like MQ-Reapers & Hermes will offer the necessary breathing room for Iran. Flying constantly with war planes is extremely expensive, risky and time consuming. It’s not feasible as a long term strategy even if US prints money like a drunken sailor.
