War On Iran: – Refineries Hit – Oil Passage Toll To Pay For Iranian Damage

Iran has, as promised yesterday, responded to the USraeli attack on its energy installations by hitting refineries and gas facilities in several Persian Gulf countries.

Qatar spoke of ‘extensive damage’ to its gas liquefaction facilities caused by an Iranian attack. Saudi Arabia claimed that the attack was defeated but that a drone had hit its SAMREF refinery near Yanbu on its western coast. Kuwait reported fires at two of its three refineries, Bahrain and the UAE did not comment but people living there report of explosions, fires and damage.

Several missiles and drones hit Israel. It has by now come under a sustained attack with air alarms going off nearly every hour. This afternoon the BAZAN oil refinery in Haifa got hit.

The damage from the continuing U.S. and Israeli bombing campaign in Iran is also quite considerable. The Israeli plan is to destroy all of Iran’s capabilities to the extend that rebuilding will become excessively expensive.

But Iran has already planned for this. It has found a way to pay for rebuilding its state. As it is, and will likely stay, in control of the Strait of Hormuz it can ask for payments in exchange for providing safe passage.

Lloyd’s List reports:

Iran establishes ‘safe’ shipping corridor for approved and paid for transits

AT LEAST one tanker operator is understood to have paid a fee to Iran to transit the Strait of Hormuz while several other tankers have passed following Iranian vetting and diplomatic interventions, according to several well-placed sources with direct knowledge of the transits.

Multiple governments including India, Pakistan, Iraq, Malaysia and China are all understood to be discussing vessel transit plans directly with Tehran, where officials within the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps have established a nascent ship registration system for “approved” vessels to agree safe passage.

At least nine ships have now exited the strait via the “safe” corridor that routes ships through Iranian territorial waters via Iran’s Larak Island, which is used by the IRGC Navy and port authority to assess visual confirmation of the vessels.

bigger
The picture on the left shows the normal traffic route through the Strait while the picture on the right shows (except for the purple ship) the passing on the controlled route north of Larak Island.

Without the war and without the blockade of the Strait crude oil prices would hover around $60 bbl instead of the current $100-120 bbl (soon to be $200 bbl). When Iran will finally agree to an end of the war – months if not years from now – one of its conditions might be a surcharge of $10 bbl for any tanker passing the Strait. This would come, for a limited time, on top of the $60 bbl peace-level market price. A moderate toll when one considers the cost of today’s barrels. This while providing a significant income of some $50-100 million per day for Iran. It would help to recuperated the money needed to repair any war damage.

The U.S., if it will have any say in this, might well agree to that condition.

Currently Iran has some 140 million barrels of crude oil sitting in floating storage – i.e. on old rented tankers anchoring somewhere. That oil was hard to sell as it was under U.S. sanctions.

The U.S. is currently considering to lift those sanctions to provide more oil to the global markets and to thereby lower its price. As U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent announced:

In the coming days, we may unsanction the Iranian oil that’s on the water. It’s about 140 million barrels, so depending how you count it, that’s 10 days to 2 weeks of supply, that the Iranians had been pushing out, that would have all gone to China. In essence, we’d be using the Iranian barrels against the Iranians to keep the price down for the next 10 or 14 days, as we continue this campaign. So, we have lots of levers.

The U.S. wasn’t willing to lift those sanctions during peace talks with Iran. But seeing the the dearth of oil under war conditions and high prices it suddenly allows that to happen.

How that would be ‘against the Iranians’ when they can sell their parked oil at $100 bbl exceeds my understanding.

Added:

The U.S. seems to have run out of stand-off ammunition. F-35 fighters were ordered into Iranian air space and at least one got damaged. This confirms that air superiority over Iran has not been achieved (yet).

Imperator and UWDude 924 and 925 – yes the Iranians are seemingly having some continued success  against the MQ9 and Hermes and 900 drones, with numerous takedowns reported.

This is significant.  It looks like their AAD has been reinvigorated.

Iran’s leadership and Hezbollah have framed this as a “war of attrition” specifically designed to make Israel uninhabitable. By keeping the population in shelters and the Haifa/Ashdod ports closed, they aim to bankrupt the Israeli state…

Do you have any info regarding the port and refinery of Ashdod? What about the offshore gas fields and processing platforms?

Netanyahu’s government is pushing for a permanent security zone in Southern Lebanon to push Hezbollah back, believing that physical distance is the only way to ensure the North remains Israeli. That won’t work as rockets and drones can fly from far away and anywhere.

Israel is depopulating southern Lebanon, suggesting that the goal is more than simply pushing Hezbollah back. Does anyone here believe that Israel would cease its attacks if Hezbollah were to surrender or disappear? Wouldn’t it just double down on an 80 years old expansionist policy?

Flying B-1B bombers from UK, especially now that they have to go all the way over straight of Gibraltar is a very long range route, probably over 5500 kilometers and requires a refueling on the way in, potentially even on the way back.

It has a very long rounding time and we could argue is very ineffective.

Iran, if it has proper radars, AD or other tracking methods can see the bombers coming long, long away, potentially even an hour or more away.

The B-1B bombers conduct high-altitude bombing where the bomb can potentially fly level for 100 kilometers or more, so they are still not risked closer than that to Iran’s borders.

In reality it’s the MQ-9 And Hermes 9000 still doing most of the heavy lifting and real-time recon.

10. All FOUR planes successfully taken over with stanley knives.

This is the only part that is a cover up related to 911.  This lie was allowed to occur so the airline industry would not get sued out of existence as they were responsible for security.  TSA was the price the government had to pay to take over security to keep that lie in tact.  All of the hijackers flew from smaller airports into larger ones for the connections.  Each large airport had “luggage storage” past the security, so one could pay a dollar, store the bag with a 4 digit code to retrieve the item.  Pretty easy for any one with clearance to put anything in these storage units and then text code to inbound passengers.  I bet a large amount of contraband was moved around this way prior to 911.  All these luggage storage units closed immediately post 911 and never returned.  Weapons for taking over planes were stored in these lockers and retrieved by the hijackers using a code texted by a person having access to airport lockers.
Building 7 had a large amount of diesel that was stored in an AST in the basement that caught fire and burned the steel beams to point they pancaked.  Same process as the World Trade 1 and 2. Did removal of asbestos from the WTC buildings contribute to the fall? Probably.

I was at NWS Charleston during the event and studied all the stuff afterward.  The only cover-up was for the lack actual security at all the airports prior to 911.

I hit for the cycle almost daily, THC (edible and bong), Psilocybin and two lines starting a 1700, then two gin martinis kicking off at 1900, in bed by 2230 and up by 0630 to start another glorious day. Making naturally occurring plants illegal was one of the US’s stupid ideas.

Anyone who has studied the ‘Desert One’ Raid during the Carter administration, to rescue the hostages from the US Embassy in Tehran, knows that the likelyhood of success of the planned JSOC raid to capture the enriched uranium supplies is highly questionable to say the least.

Inserting over 1K commandoes at EACH (there are three) sites to extract highly enriched uranium isotopes is a Bridge Too Far to quote John Toland!

To even attempt such a mission against entrenched Iranian AAD and regular army units and reserve forces is a classic case of massive overreach.  We all remember the failed raids – Vietnam POW Rescue, Tehran Hostage Rescue, Arnhem Fiasco, Patton POW Camp Rescue Raid…………….

Don’t do it……

Now that fight is Militarily WON, with very little danger for them, they complain about the high oil prices they are forced to pay, but don’t want to help open the Strait of Hormuz, a simple military maneuver that is the single reason for the high oil prices. So easy for them to do, with so little risk. COWARDS, and we will REMEMBER!” Trump said.

I think Russia wants this war to drag out as well.

First and foremost, Russia has been fighting NATO for 4 years now, without anybody really helping, except North Korea.
(Notice Iran has not helped besides selling shaheds, yet Russia is the bad guy for not helping Iran)

This war has already removed 201 ukrainian drone experts from the field, the theeat of ukrainian tomahawks (remember that a few months ago) is gone, the threat of more PAC 3s are gone, as those are now reserved for Gods chosen people, etc.. etc…  Ukraine is going to get shafted, and Zelensky, clown that he is, has chosen to waste Ukrainians on Israel.

Secondly high oil prices  = boon.

Thirdly oil shortage in Europe = Russian leverage.  Putin talking about not selling…. I think he should leverage that.

As Al Capone said, “you can get more with a kind word and a gun than just a kind word”,   Putin can make them an offer they can’t refuse:  cheap oil and pull out of Ukraine, or no oil, and watch as your neighbors kick your ass financially.

The Patton POW Raid is the classic tale of hubris………….sending a re-enforced battalion sized force of lightly armored troops over 125 km deep into German held territory to rescue 8thAAF airman (including his son in law) at a German Luft POW camp at Hammelburg.  General Patton greatly over extended himself – the operation really needed a RCT or a division strength operation.

It was doomed to failure, the entire rescue contingent including POW’s was continuously ambushed along the route and on the way back to allied lines in southern Germany.  None of the group or POW’s made it back to allied lines.  The raid was not authorized by Supreme Commander of Allied Forces – Europe, or 21st Army Group – Command – Generals Eisenhower and Bradley, respectively.

French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot made today a visit to Jerusalem, after visiting Lebanon, and met with Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar

Both sides discussed the Hezbollah Question and the future of Southern Lebanon, as the French side proposed a framework to disarm Hezbollah and pave ground for normalization between Israel and Lebanon

In Statement, the Israeli Foreign Ministry said:

I received my colleague, the French Minister for Foreign Affairs, Jean-Noël Barrot in Jerusalem, who shared with me his visit to Lebanon and his impressions.

We discussed at length the war against Iran and Hezbollah, as well as other topics.

I presented to him the scale of the attacks against Israel launched from Lebanese territory (more than 2,500) since March 2, particularly from the area south of the Litani, over which the Lebanese government and army boasted, just two and a half months ago, of having acquired “operational control.”

Unfortunately, the Lebanese government and army are taking no significant measures against Hezbollah, neither on the military front nor on other fronts.

During our meeting, I also proposed that France and the European Union designate the entire “Hezbollah” organization as a terrorist organization, and not just its armed branch, as several European countries have already done. A complete delegitimization of Hezbollah is essential in the face of this Iranian branch that has been conducting military operations against Israel for decades and that is progressively destroying Lebanon and its future. I also presented him with the details of the actions carried out by Israel against Hezbollah terrorists, while striving to avoid harming the civilian population as much as possible.

Israel will continue to defend itself, as well as to defend its citizens, and to act firmly against all those who attack it.

I imagine Iranian soldiers occupy Kharg Island.
If marines attack, these Iranian soldiers will attempt to sink, shootdown, and kill as many marines as possible.

The marines that survive the initial landing will find themselves in vicious firefights with the Iranian soldiers.  I imagine many marines will be killed and quite a few Iranians.

they complain about the high oil prices they are forced to pay, but don’t want to help open the Strait of Hormuz, a simple military maneuver that is the single reason for the high oil prices.
Posted by: Fredrick | Mar 20 2026 14:10 utc | 944
First of all it is not the Strait of Hormuz that needs to be opened. It is the entire waters that are bordering Iran that are now under Iranian control.
Iran has demonstrated they can hit anything anywhere in the waters they control. Ships in the Strait of Hormuz are about the only ones in the entire area under Iran control that have not been hit. To picture how much area Iran controls just look at where the US Navy dares not go.
As far as I can tell Iran has escalation dominance. Iran has obviously planned for escalation dominance. Iran has done such a good job of anticipating what US/Israel will do that it would not surprise me if Iran has several nuclear missiles all ready to fire. If US/Israel ever try to escalate to the nuclear level, Tel Aviv and Haifa may just  disappear from the face of the earth and it would be hard to blame Iran for being aggressor.

No one does that today, and it was brutal in WW2 already.

Stand-off weapons and eWar have changed everything.

Drone swarms means landings won’t approach a shore line, unless the Iranians want landing forces in a killbox.

Quite odd that some commenters  here are criticizing Russia for not helping Iran whereas Western Media recently freaked out about „ Putin’s hidden hand“ all over the Middle East. According to Bloomberg Russian Intelligence was responsible for Iran‘s deadly retaliation against the US, Israel and the Arab States. The British Defense Secretary even  suggested that Putin is pulling the strings behind the scenes and that Russia is powering Iran‘s drone attacks on the US and Israel by providing data and tactics from the Ukraine war. People who call Putin a „Zio-Traitor“ seem to forget that Israel and Russia resumed diplomatic Relations in 1991 and Israel has refused to impose sanctions on Russia in 2014 and 2022. Col. Douglas MacGregor suggested that Israel was helping Russia to circumvent sanctions as the Arabs also did and that in the past  they shared Military data with Russia.
Geopolitics  is quite complicated.

Beijing to Tel-Aviv and Washington: “Israel will cease to exist the moment it uses a nuclear weapon!”
By Dimitris Konstantakopoulos*
Summary: In the following paper, we will present the reasons why a nuclear war in the Middle East is now quite possible, the deterrent intervention of China which interrupted a period of dangerous tolerance of Israel by the great powers, and the relationship between what is happening in West Asia and what is happening around Ukraine and the American continent, particularly in Cuba.

We are still in the “Phoney War” where Western leader bullshit, censorship, AI videos and Central Bank liquidity injections are hiding the real impacts of the war. That is starting to crumble, as we see interest rates starting to accelerate upwards, financial markets rolling over, and UK and European gas prices taking off. And we are only entering week 4 of the war! What will it be like by mid-April, mid-May?  That’s when Europe will have to start refilling their gas storage in earnest and places like Australia will be out of gasoline and diesel.

I saw a statistic from the Dutch gas reservoirs. They are record low, significantly lower than this time of the year in any previous recorded history. So, while spring and summer are coming, the EU will be left to freeze over coming years.

They will probably subsidize fuel, energy and food for worth over a trillion Euros over the coming years but the energy and food costs will be permanently higher. This subsidization plus the obsession of funding Ukraine’s black hole, falling industries and tax revenues are going to be something that finally breaks the backbone of the EU and eurozone and with it Nato (which is also already falling apart).

🇮🇷⚡️– Iran’s new Supreme Leader, Mojtaba Khamenei anonymously surveyed the opinions of common citizens in Tehran.

“By Allah’s grace, I have had the opportunity to hear the words of our dear people from various social classes. For example, at one point, I traveled alongside an anonymous group of citizens in a taxi I had requested, moving through the streets of Tehran and listening to their words. I found this method of sampling far superior to many surveys. In many cases, my understanding aligned with your words, which were usually expressed as criticisms concerning economic and managerial issues. Through this process, I have learned much from you and continue to seek new lessons.”

Perhaps it’s our perspective that we should change.

Trump says he doesn’t want expensive oil, but he’s a big liar, and he also said it wasn’t a high price to pay.

If we base our judgment on what Trump does, not what he says, the objective clearly seems to be destruction.

First of all, no serious commando-style military operation should be announced in advance, unless you want your troops massacred.

Announcing that they’re going to take Kargh Island creates fears of destruction, thus driving up oil prices.

Just as announcing that the Strait of Hormuz is open, or that a multinational operation will soon open it, drives prices down.

These people are having fun manipulating oil prices, through military means but especially through simple pronouncements.

And it’s clear despite what they say that they want a rise, but not too rapid.
And the primary economic target isn’t China, but Europe and Asia.

During a White House press gathering with Sanae Takaichi, the new prime minister of Japan, Trump was asked why he didn’t alert Asian and European allies about the planned first strike on Iran. He snapped in reply, “We didn’t tell anyone about it because we wanted a surprise. Who knows better about surprise than Japan?” Then he turned to a visibly stricken Takaichi and said, “Why didn’t you tell me about Pearl Harbor?”

What a bizarre comparison and an unconscious (presumably) admission of the criminality of the US surprise strikes on Iran. The parallel isn’t exact, however. Japan limited itself to attacks on a US military base, while Trump smart bombed an Iranian girls’ school.

Once again mostly using Military Channel as a major source.  It has its faults, but in this world of disinformation it seems to have pieces of it close to reality.

The US counter offensives in Ukraine are real counter offensives.  They are pushing Russia back.  Something that has not happened much recently.  These are the lands designated for Blackrock.  The troops and munitions needed to make this happen did not come from Ukraine.  Oh some did, but mostly not.  At the same time, a daily Shock and Awe attack on Russia is ongoing with a LOT of drones.  Also likely to be made in USA.  This is why Hegseth asked for 200 billion dollars, with the comment “to pay for munitions already used”.  Munitions including not only what is used in West Asia, but also what is being used in the Land of Blackrock (formerly known as Eastern Ukraine).

The US heard the Russian threats to ramp up their attack in Ukraine – and responded by preempting it with a strong counter attack of its own.  From what I can tell, a fairly large one too.  Russia is still sending quite a bit of stuff to Iran, but also needs a lot more than before for its own defense.  Why is Russia not going strongly after UK or other EU nations at this time?  The US has come in a big way to Ukraine.  And to Iran.  Going after EU is lower priority than number 1 Russia and number 2 Iran.

The success of the Epstein Class in managing oil, gas, gold, and silver prices in the US suggests that the strong counterattacks on Russia, the new drone attacks on Russia, and the attack on Iran we all well coordinated by the US.  The Hormuz Shutdown was OBVIOUSLY anticipated no matter what lies Trump was instructed to spew.  The financial class is carefully moving up oil and gas prices, steadily but not too abruptly, making US shale and Venezuelan oil and gas profitable to extract.  US citizens will steadily adjust to a lower standard of living, and accept its inevitably.  The wars against Russian and Iran will go on for an extended period of time.

Ever considered that Iran deliberately kept its air defenses in protected areas to wait for the first heavy blows and let Israel and the USA run rampant until their ammunition ran low?

Does anyone really believe that Iran would leave its modern air defenses exposed to China or Russia in the open countryside? Perhaps Iran was just waiting for THEY… to dare to get closer…? Do they all think the Iranians are so stupid? They knew from the beginning that if Israel or the USA attacked, all those in charge would be counting on a short fight… dropping small bombs on everything, including their air defenses, and then having a clear path?

Why are the B-2s missing? Are they missing the red carpet from the Twelve Days of War? Reports of “bunker busters” being deployed… all nonsense. Real bunker busters can ONLY be dropped by B-2s, and they are far away at a safe distance.

Iran
Now ask the Germans questions about the US base Ramstein regarding the extent to which Iran is being attacked from there, and also ask the Romanian government about its stance on the US base. Both locations are within range of their new missiles.Feedback geben

A commemorative gold coin bearing the image of US President Donald Trump has been approved by a federal arts commission.

The 24-karat gold coin is intended to mark America’s 250th birthday this 4 July and portrays Trump with his fists pressed against a desk.

After a presentation by the US Mint, the US Commission of Fine Arts voted unanimously to approve the design, despite questions over its legality.

Federal law does not allow a living president to appear on US currency. But the coin is being issued in accordance with Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent’s authority and discretion to mint and issue proof gold coins.

NOBODY KNOWS HOW FUCKED THE SITUATION IN THE PERSIAN GULF ACTUALLY IS.

3,200 ships are TRAPPED in the Persian Gulf right now. Crews are running out of drinking water. One ship called the local port authority and BEGGED for permission to dock — just to get water. They were DENIED.

Let that sink in. These aren’t military ships. These are commercial vessels — carrying oil, grain, electronics — with civilian crews who are now stranded with NO supplies and NO way out. – 3,200 ships STUCK  – Crews running out of WATER  – Port authorities REFUSING to let them dock  – Multiple ships reporting the SAME situation

For context — the Suez Canal crisis in 2021 blocked 400 ships. This is EIGHT TIMES worse. And nobody is talking about it.

They’re showing you missile interceptions and oil price charts. They’re NOT showing you thousands of crew members slowly running out of drinking water in the middle of a war zone.

If these ships start getting abandoned, the environmental disaster alone would be catastrophic. Thousands of tons of fuel, cargo, chemicals — just sitting there. This is not a shipping disruption. This is a HUMANITARIAN CRISIS unfolding in real time.
