War On Iran: – (Not-) Destroyed Missile Launchers – Seeking Ground War Allies

War propaganda doesn’t change, whoever a conflict is fought with:

Professed success is promoted by doing a countdown towards victory:

The recent war follows the scheme of ever rising enemy losses:

At some point however delusion creeps in:

People start to ask questions:

After Trump’s original plans did not survive contact with the enemy, the media are preparing the public for an escalation towards a ground war:

> President Trump and top aides spent the weekend framing their Iran operation as a resounding military success while imploring other countries to join their effort to resolve a worsening energy crisis related to the Strait of Hormuz.

The Trump administration as soon as this week plans to announce that multiple countries have agreed to form a coalition that will escort ships through the waterway, which runs along the Iranian coast, U.S. officials said. The U.S. and potential coalition countries are still discussing whether those operations would begin before or after the war ends. <

What is the use of escorting ships through the Strait “after the war ends”?

So far there are no takers of Trump’s call for allies. I doubt that there will be any.

The U.S. will have to go it alone. To take a strip of Iranian land north of the Strait of Hormuz with a depth and width sufficient to protect the Strait will require a force of some 100,000 soldiers. The U.S. no longer has such an invasion force nor the means to land it.

That does not mean that Trump won’t try it.

One can hope that the commodity and financial markets will become unruly enough soon enough to stop Trump from bombing Iran ‘a few more times just for fun‘ and from marching towards a ground war.

The Reality of 2026

The U.S. military is currently exhausted from 200+ wounded and a “siege” on its bases in Iraq and Syria. If they are ordered to march into the Iranian mountains while their allies have “sent them to a 3-letter place,” the risk of a military mutiny or a total breakdown in command is higher than it has been in a century.

The Financial Times reported that Iran is generating significant revenue from oil exports despite the ongoing aggression.

According to analyst data, since the start of the US and Israeli attacks, at least 13 oil tankers have loaded oil at Iran’s main export terminal on Khark Island.

During this period, approximately 24 million barrels of Iranian oil were exported through the Strait of Hormuz. Energy data companies estimate that Iran has been earning around $140 million daily since the beginning of the war.

Just a idea, I’m no expert on these matters:

Recently Treasury Secretary Bessent was urgently called to the Situation Room by Trump in the middle of a press interview. When he came back he was shaking uncontrollably. Umpteen factors could be conceived of as generating such a state of shock including the suspected death of Netanyahu, strikes killing large numbers of US soldiers, etc. But why Bessent??? Here’s an alternative idea: what about an Iranian strike on finance assets in Dubai precipitating the collapse of an urgent refinancing deal for US debt that was imminently due, or something along similar lines? I just find it a rather odd juxtaposition for a Treasury Secretary but whatever the precipitating event maybe it is normal to urgently call the entire cabinet to the situation room.

IMO the thing is theater. It’s the very same kind of theater that Bush was ‘informed’ of the 911 attack during his time in the kindergarten.

Bessent is in the middle of an interview and someone whispers something into his ear, then comes back to continue the interview. Couldn’t it have waited for 20 minutes? Treasury secretary isn’t that important and the issues aren’t as imminent as acute war developments.

Anyway, the way Bessent is fumbling about gold being a safe haven in recent days seems to imply that there is some real panic and fear in the air about US debt, the dollar, economy etc.

Iranian Officials Say They Have Been Ignoring Witkoff’s Private Requests to Talk

Trump’s special envoy has been texting Iran’s foreign minister asking to start talks. Tehran says the war will end only when Iran believes it has established long-term deterrence.

https://x.com/DropSiteNews/status/2033586215442599938

President Donald Trump has been leading a double life in prosecuting his war against Iran. In public, he regularly boasts that Iran’s military might has been decimated, its leadership killed off, and that the few officials remaining alive in Tehran are begging him to talk. “They want to negotiate. They want to negotiate badly,” Trump said Sunday night. “We’re talking to them. But I don’t think they’re ready, but they’re getting pretty close.”

Behind the scenes, it is the Trump administration that has been asking for talks. Two Iranian officials told Drop Site that Trump’s Special Envoy Steve Witkoff personally sent messages to officials in Tehran, including Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, last week exploring possibilities for resuming negotiations. Iran has not replied to Witkoff. The Iranian officials told Drop Site that Iran has also received messages from the White House via third countries.

Based on the current situation and the recent UN resolution blaming Iran with Russia and China abstaining, I can only conclude that China is  either providing undisclosed military and economic aid to Iran or it believes it’s now powerful enough to defeat the US economically and/or militarily in any future confrontation, and doesn’t really care what happens to BRICS or it’s supposed ally Iran. Same goes for Russia.

Tunisian judicial authorities issued a prison order against seven activists linked to organizing the Freedom Flotilla to break the Gaza blockade, on charges of money laundering and forming a criminal network.

Lawyer Sami Ben Ghazi stated that five of the activists had already spent ten days in detention before the hearing, and the main charge is forming a network for the purpose of money laundering, a charge that has drawn widespread criticism.

The case is linked to the Freedom Flotilla initiative, which faced Israeli interceptions and attacks on the ships, including a drone strike at Sidi Bou Said port, with Tunisian authorities opening an investigation without revealing those responsible.

Trump gave Iran fair warning, explicitly saying he could easily destroy Iran’s ability to export oil (Kharg Island was a demonstration) and also saying he could easily destroy Iran’s electricity supply.  After all, Russia destroyed Ukraine’s electricity supply and main port, so why shouldn’t the US do the same to Iran?
Trump gave the EU and China fair warning, explicitly saying if they don’t engage with Iran to open Hormuz, that he would destroy Iran’s export terminals and electric grid. I suspect he knew all along that the EU and China would do nothing.

I’ve thought from the beginning of this war that the only way Trump can extract the US from this war is to destroy Iran’s export terminals and electric grid.  It would result in the impoverishment of Iran for a decade. Iran would retaliate and partially destroy the oil and gas exports of the Gulf states and destroying some (but not all) of the capacity of the Gulf states’ desalination plants.

Per Grok: Gulf states’ major desalination plants are designed with a high degree of modularity through multiple independent production units (often called “trains,” “units,” or “stations”), so damage to part of a plant typically reduces output but does not halt all production. This is standard engineering practice in both thermal (multi-stage flash/MSF) and membrane (reverse osmosis/RO) plants, allowing sections to be isolated for maintenance, repairs, or in case of localized damage.

The main result of this would be the impoverishment of the EU and significant economic problems for China, both of whom depend on natural gas and oil imports.  This would be a good result for the US (and Trump despises the way the arrogant EU leaders patronize him). It might even let Trump withdraw from NATO and withdraw US bases from the Gulf (which he wants to do). It would enrich Russia, but there are benefits to the US of this.

China needs oil, and Trump could trade access to Venezuelan oil for rare earth minerals.

Trump can limit the economic impact on US citizens of higher international oil and gas prices by only allowing exports of US oil and gas to Japan and Korea (the US’s important economic partners, unlike the EU which is a dead weight on the US economy).

To paraphrase Conan the Barbarian:

  • General: “Trump, what is best in life?”
  • Trump: “To crush your enemies, see them driven before you, and to hear the lamentation of their women.”

@745  Nemesis  I interpret that UNSC vote very differently.  It doesn’t actually blame Iran for this war.  It amounts to a huge cry-baby dummy-spit from the Arab Gulf States that it is just so….. so….. unfair that they are being shot at during a war that they neither started nor want.
And, honestly, they have a point. To a degree (the resolution entirely glosses over the presence of all those US military bases in those Gulf States all of which are perfectly legitimate military targets for the IRGC).
Hence the text of that resolution, which (correctly) points out that Iran is attacking targets in those Gulf States.
And it is written that way because Iran *is* attacking targets in those Gulf States.  The USA and Israel are not, so they don’t get a mention in the text of that dummy-spit.
Looked at in that light then what played out in the Security Council is understandable:  the Gulf Monarchies are angry and no doubt very, very frightened and they want everyone to acknowledge that.  Far be it for Russia and China to shiv them over that, so their abstention amounted to them patting the Gulf Monarchs and saying “There, there, we share your concerns”.
It cost those two countries nothing to do that and, furthermore, showing that degree of empathy costs Iran nothing as well.
And, as a side note, it is worth reminding everyone that a mere few days BEFORE that President Pezeshkian offered his non-apologetic “apology” to those Gulf states.
He was much criticized for doing that, but when put alongside the upcoming vote in the UNSC it was perfectly understandable:  his non-apologetic apology actually pulled the fangs from that Resolution, precisely because it amounted to a pre-emptive Iranian olive-branch being offered to those same Gulf states.
Wheels within wheels within wheels….

It is very profitable to borrow dollars now, buy with those borrowed dollars real estate, and wait for the time when there is massive inflation and pay back the loan with the inflated dollars! That was done to my ancestors – the great grandfather loaned before the WW 1  a sum of 4 Tsd Gold Reichsmark to a farmer, who bought land with those Reichsmarks – and the son of the farmer wanted to pay back after the war in 1920s the same 4 Tsd Mark in paper money, which was not able to buy  loaf of bread….(Talking about hutzpah…)

🇺🇸🇮🇱⚔️🇮🇷 According to Politico, more than two weeks into Operation Epstein’s Fury, some of Trump’s allies believe he no longer controls how or when the war ends. They warn that Iran’s actions in the Strait of Hormuz, including attacks on oil tankers that have disrupted global markets, are shaping the course of the conflict and limiting U.S. options.
Sources cited by Politico say Iran’s asymmetric strategy has changed the terms of engagement, arguing that escalation, potentially including U.S. ground forces, could become necessary to achieve stated objectives. Some also suggest that securing maritime routes could require broader regional involvement.
The report notes growing concern among “America First” Republicans that the conflict risks becoming open ended and politically costly, particularly amid rising energy prices and voter concerns about affordability ahead of the midterms.

Killing iranian political leaders is de child-murderers strategy to avoid any kind of comprimise between US and Iran, if a more radical figure emerge in Iran, the zionists think it is better, because the objective of this war for the child-murderers is to destroy Iran as a functional country and induce such caos that it split in some dozens shittistan that can be managed by the USA and other zionist’s puppets.
The child-murderers have any problem sinking in a depression the US economý or the world economy, they perfectly know that US government puppets will send as many billions as required to maintain the child-murderers kingdom in ME isolated of the destruction they cause, because the child-murderers has too many leverage of the child-rapers american elite and politicians.

Personally, I would like to see a little justice dispensed to the Saudi prince who ordered the assasination by dismemberment of a dissident critic … and got away with it. This has to be one of the most evil regimes in the world. Trump, of course, continues to make deals with him. Also, the future of the LIV Golf tour might be in doubt. Golfers better get their pay checks while they can.

In the unlikely event Trump succeeds in embargoing Chinese oil he will find that this is not an embargo of one country but an embargo against every single nation on earth.

China produces most of the worlds goods. All the oil Japan and Southern Korea can consume would be worthless without the inputs of China.

Interfering with the producer of more than 50% of the world’s manufactured inputs would sink the global economy like a lead zeppelin.

Boomerang. The cost of success is higher than the cost of failure here.

It’s like 50 minutes travel to the cafe and back, a lot of time for an important leader.

Trump doesn’t have full control of Venezuela.

And China gets oil from Russia and Kazakhstan, as well as Iran.

Their cars and machinery are increasingly electric, and their fossil fuel use is in decline.

America has few levers. Trump tried and failed with Venezuela, and he tried and is failing with West Asia.

Oh, and Canada is selling oil to China too.

You have a reasonable point, assuming that the interference is significant.  The point is to get leverage against China’s use of rare earths against the US, and the only way to use access to Venezuela’s oil to get access to rare earths is to limit China’s other sources of oil (the Gulf states and Iran).  Since the US doesn’t import oil or gas from the Gulf states or Iran, getting Iran to attack the Gulf states to limit Persian Gulf oil exports is reasonable in Trump’s eyes.

A complication is that Russia can supply lots of oil to China, but they’ll sell to the highest bidder (they’re more capitalistic than the US 🙂 and the world price of oil (outside the US) will be way above $100/barrel. If Iran destroys the Gulf states oil exports, the only other game in town for oil is Venezuela.

Given that the US has economic incentive to motivate Iran destroy the Gulf states oil export capacity, it will probably happen.

”Iran launches 58th wave of Op. True Promise 4, pounding enemy targets with precision missiles”

Tuesday, 17 March 2026 12:30 PM  [ Last Update: Tuesday, 17 March 2026 1:05 PM ]

https://www.presstv.ir/Detail/2026/03/17/765494/Iran-unleashes-58th-wave-retaliatory-strikes-using-precision-heavy-missiles

This caught my attention:   Excerpt:

“This included the Khorramshahr missile equipped with a **2-ton warhead, the multi-warhead Ghadr, and the advanced Fattah and Kheibar Shekan missiles. Medium-range systems such as the Fateh and Qiam, alongside a swarm of destructive suicide drones, were also deployed.”

”The sophisticated assault targeted a wide array of strategic locations across the northern and central parts of the country occupied territories, including Nahariya, Beit Shemesh, Tel Aviv, and West Quds.”

”Furthermore, the strikes heavily pounded the regional positions of the terrorist US army, directly hitting American bases in Victoria, Ali Al Salem, and Al Kharj, as well as the US Navy’s 5th Fleet.“

Joe Kent, a Tulsi Gabbard subordinate and Director of the National Counterterrorism Center, announces his resignation in protest against “Israel and its powerful American lobby”

After much reflection, I have decided to resign from my position as Director of the National Counterterrorism Center, effective today.

I cannot in good conscience support the ongoing war in Iran. Iran posed no imminent threat to our nation, and it is clear that we started this war due to pressure from Israel and its powerful American lobby.

It has been an honor serving under POTUS and DNI Tulsi Gabbard and leading the professionals at NCTC.

May God bless America.

President Donald Trump said Monday it would take “just one simple word” for the United States to destroy the oil infrastructure on Iran’s Kharg Island, which handles roughly 90% of the Islamic Republic’s crude exports.

On Friday night, the U.S. targeted Iranian military facilities on the five-mile-long coral island about 15 miles off mainland Iran in the northern Persian Gulf.

Warning about planned PsyOp  today, Tuesday (inform others) A psychological warfare plan against Iran is being implemented for today. If scenes of fire and Iranian citizens running and jumping in the streets of Tehran are broadcast through mainstream media in the West, do not panic. It’s not about social unrest or a protest uprising by the people against the Islamic Republic. Today is the celebration of Chaharshanbe Suri in Iran. To learn about what Chaharshanbe Suri is and what rituals it involves, refer to the link below. It is worth noting that this Friday is the first day of spring and the start of the new year, Nowruz, in Iran. Refer to the second link regarding the Nowruz celebration. Both celebrations, Chaharshanbe Suri and Nowruz, have their roots in ancient Iran and the religious faith of Iranians at that time, the Zoroastrian religion. Charshanbeh Surihttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chaharshanbe_Suri
