War On Iran: – (Not-) Destroyed Missile Launchers – Seeking Ground War Allies

War propaganda doesn’t change, whoever a conflict is fought with:

Professed success is promoted by doing a countdown towards victory:

The recent war follows the scheme of ever rising enemy losses:

At some point however delusion creeps in:

People start to ask questions:

After Trump’s original plans did not survive contact with the enemy, the media are preparing the public for an escalation towards a ground war:

> President Trump and top aides spent the weekend framing their Iran operation as a resounding military success while imploring other countries to join their effort to resolve a worsening energy crisis related to the Strait of Hormuz.

The Trump administration as soon as this week plans to announce that multiple countries have agreed to form a coalition that will escort ships through the waterway, which runs along the Iranian coast, U.S. officials said. The U.S. and potential coalition countries are still discussing whether those operations would begin before or after the war ends. <

What is the use of escorting ships through the Strait “after the war ends”?

So far there are no takers of Trump’s call for allies. I doubt that there will be any.

The U.S. will have to go it alone. To take a strip of Iranian land north of the Strait of Hormuz with a depth and width sufficient to protect the Strait will require a force of some 100,000 soldiers. The U.S. no longer has such an invasion force nor the means to land it.

That does not mean that Trump won’t try it.

One can hope that the commodity and financial markets will become unruly enough soon enough to stop Trump from bombing Iran ‘a few more times just for fun‘ and from marching towards a ground war.

The Kyl-Bingaman Amendment is a 1997 law put into force by the Military Defense National Defense Authorization Act for 1997, which prohibits US authorities from granting a license for collecting or disseminating high resolution satellite imagery of Israel at a higher resolution than is available from other commercial sources, that is, from companies outside of the United States.

U.S. law mandates U.S. government censorship of American commercial satellite images of no country in the world besides that of Israel. The largest and most important global sources of commercial satellite imagery, such as Maxar Technologies, Capella, and Umbra, and the largest and widely-used online resources, such as Google and Bing, are American and this makes KBA a powerful instrument of U.S. government suppression of information. For example, as a result of KBA, images on internet platforms such as Google Earth have been deliberately blurred.

The abundance of satellite imagery from Iran compared to the lack of imagery from Israel is a deliberate way of inducing the idea that Iranian missiles are being intercepted or are missing their targets and falling in open areas or sometimes in residential areas.

The Clinton Administration liberalised the commercial use of satellite imagery and declassified Cold War satellite imagery in 1996-1997. The Israeli government at the time, led by none other than Benjamin Netanyahu, lobbied hard to place this restriction through the Kyl-Bingaman Amendment, to hide the systemic bulldozing of Palestinian towns and villages in the West Bank.

My God, is there no end to the insane anti-Catholic calumny? I sincerely hope you repent of such a view for the sake of your own soul. To be a Priest is one of the most manly life-choices you could ever undertake. But there is severe mental illness that can result from such an endeavor and this plight is exacerbated by Anti-Catholic Jewish smears and obfuscation, which is the result of Jewish ascendancy and supremacy in the RBO paradigm (which is being currently challenged by the Axis). One will be amazed if we get out of this onto the other side how greatly the culture will change just by virtue of the Church regaining its role in western leadership.

I don’t think people realize that the result for Cuba would be the kind of thing that the ex-USSR went through. Maybe the power would be more reliable since they could buy oil from the US, but with what money, exactly? Puerto Rico can buy oil from the US, too, but they also suffer from blackouts (which get less press than the ones in Cuba!) The privatization of the planned economy in the ex-USSR killed millions. Annexation (?) of Cuba would result in millions of Cubans leaving the island for the US, disrupting already fucked up job markets, assuming we would grant Cubans citizenship. They certainly wouldn’t get to be the fifty-first state. Can you imagine who they would send to DC?

More likely than annexation would be forced multi-party elections with US-backed parties and extensive US interference against the Communists. And if the communists win those elections, the playbook would be like that directed against the first Ortega government in Nicaragua in the 80s: denial that the elections were really free and democratic, and the overthrow of the government by right-wing death squads. Multi-party democracy, as we know, is a sham. The Cuban system of democracy, despite its limitations, gives the average person a greater effective and real possibility of participation in power than the periodic election of those who rule over us, mediated, of course, by well capitalized propaganda networks and billionaire donors who really choose the candidates.

Not beating any homoeroticism allegations here. Look, as a Buddhist, I’m perfectly willing to recognize when my monks are full of shit or morally corrupt. I’d criticize the Buddhist fundamentalists responsible for the Rohingya genocide, for example, for doing decidedly adhammic shit. The Kalama (no, don’t read that wrong!) sutta even encourages the laity to be critical of what the monks have to say, at least not to take what they say at face value, because unlike with the christian clergy, the monks have no special claim to enlightenment or communication with a divine figure. Anyone can attain nibbana, even householders (and in some traditions, like Mahayana, the division between householders and the monks is much more of a blurred line). Babasaheb Ambedkar never led a monastic life, but he was enlightened through his study of the suttas as well as his comparative study of religions.

I don’t have only bad things to say about the catholics, mind you. I think they are, at least since Francis, somewhat of a moral voice in the West, superior at least in morality to the protestants. But there are still warts whose etiology stems from the viral infection of Abraham, and you can see these warts especially in the vice president, JD Vance, a catholic convert, or even just in the Vatican’s tendency to move abusive priests around to new parishes to cover up their crimes rather than submitting them to secular authorities. My dad grew up in a convent and he has stories about the priests to tell, about them inviting some of his friends into the inner sanctum for some alone time.

Opinions| Palestinian writer Muhammad Hamed Al-AilaTrump’s decision to ignite this war reflects his clear ignorance and a clear flaw in his estimates and in the way he made decisions within a narrow circle of numbers, the narrowest knowledge, and far from his country’s institutions.

The man is surrounded by advisors like Witkoff and Kushner, whose hearts are filled with hatred for our region, and who possess limited intelligence like his, but who are superior to him in their ability to exploit his limited experience in general, and on geopolitical issues in particular. That’s why they played an important role in pushing him towards this major step, also taking advantage of the nature of his decision-making style based on quick impressions rather than relying on in-depth strategic assessments.

What is striking, but expected, is what Trump’s statements revealed about a deficiency in his understanding of Iran and the repercussions of the war with it, as he himself expressed his shock at Iran’s targeting of neighboring countries, even though it stated this openly, and not something it concealed, and they were scenarios that were circulated in analyzing the potential war. While this level of information is known in political and research circles, ignorance of it raises deeper questions about more sensitive information that may not have also been taken into account when making the decision to go to war. However, the confrontation sparked a belief that it would be limited, but it turned into a broad conflict that would leave profound repercussions on the peoples of the region and the structure of the regional system for decades to come.

What is also striking is that in wars of this size, the United States usually goes to form a broad international coalition that gives it political and military cover, even with countries that possess fewer capabilities than Iran. But this time, the US administration rushed into war before building a solid narrative, and before forming a cohesive international coalition, which made Trump beg allied countries to help him open the Strait of Hormuz, making the United States appear as if it was waging a war relatively isolated even from its closest allies in Europe.

The US administration’s miscalculation was not limited to the strategic repercussions represented by targeting the Arab Gulf states, putting pressure on the energy market, and closing the Strait of Hormuz, but it was not, among the calculations of this war, Israel’s preoccupation with an additional front in Lebanon in conjunction with the Iran war. Israel thought it was capable of carrying out a large-scale preemptive air strike that would destroy the military capabilities that Hezbollah had accumulated over the past 15 months, and then maintain the results of that strike through continuous air strikes that would prevent the party from engaging in the war. However, its miscalculation of Hezbollah’s situation, the failure of the preemptive strike, and the party’s handling of the security breach on a large scale, led to unexpected field incidents.

The development in Lebanon is not just an additional front, but it creates an operational burden on Israel, which today finds itself engaged in a battle on two fronts. It also imposes an additional burden on the United States after the only country fighting alongside it went to a ground operation, which results in the United States practically bearing the main burden in managing the conflict with Tehran.

As the war enters more complex levels, Trump is making every effort to expand the circle of international engagement in it, by dragging his European allies, or by luring Arab countries and other international powers into the battle, without results, which puts the American administration before more complex options: Either he goes to increase his military effort and combat resources in the war, which increases the chances of targeting his army and soldiers Or resort to strikes and operations that rely on show or the excess destructive power possessed by the United States, but which will inevitably push the battle to a more dangerous level.

The source said Trump was “high on his own supply” after last summer’s quick strikes in Iran and January’s abduction of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro: “He saw multiple decisive quick victories with extraordinary military competence.”

This is normal human behaviour but curiously Hitler was just like this after the glorious blitzkrieg win over France. It was designed by young officers Guderian and Manstein, and the old guard was skeptical. Hitler gambled the blitzkrieg would pay off which it did splendidly, and then proceeded to think of himself as a military genius.

Interestingly, Stalin stopped interfering with his generals after early military debacles, unlike Hitler who famously meddled with maps and orders until the end.

Now I’m not sure that Trump can read a topographical map (the stupid remarks about escorting tankers or opening Hormuz by force indicate that not). But as you write: “high on his own supply”.

The president clown is just trying to shift debate away from the massive disaster of attacking Iran. 15th of March will go down as the watershed moment the US lost world geopolitical supremacy and domination of the global south (and everyone else). It’s all downhill from here for Trump and the US.

Correct, Vance isn’t any better.  Obama wasn’t any better.  Kamala wasn’t any better.  Lindsey Graham isn’t any better.  McCain wasn’t any better.  Hillary certainly wasn’t any better.  G.W. Bush wasn’t any better.

Bernie seemed better for awhile.  But he always ends up throwing his supporters into the arms of the DNC, so in the end he isn’t really much better.

Jill Stein was better too with excellent rhetoric on foreign policy.  But always marginalized by the dual party system, just like Thomas Massie and Ron Paul and MTG.

Yes, and both of those religious affiliations might also be really good at propagating Freudian dreck like repressed sexuality being the source of all our problems.

A very hard thing about being a Priest, I would venture a guess to say, would be to put yourself in the eternal position of being judged by men who think that just by virtue of having penetrated a woman that they have something to say about life, leadership, and manliness. It’s entirely an unfair proposition and yet they know it is something they have to endure from their judgmental flock.

Further, they have to understand that there will be a tendency in their own human heart to somehow prove these accusations wrong, that a Priest can be manly in a conventional sense and from this springs all kinds of problems with their identity and up comes mental illness.

They have to be very careful. It is very heroic role in religious life.

Mojtaba’s message to Trump: ‘Bring it on!’

Posted by: james | Mar 16 2026 23:45 utc | 363

Kevin Barrett’s latest at Unz.

Dear Trump, you senile old pedophile, what in Epstein’s name were you thinking when you gave the order to attack Iran? Or more pertinently, since you’re incapable of anything remotely resembling thinking, who in Epstein’s name were you listening to, and why were you listening to them?

Last week you blurted out that Jared, Steve, Pete, and Marco assured you it would be a cakewalk. But your military and intelligence chiefs advised against it. So who are you gonna believe, a pair of Jewish real estate shysters, an alcoholic former Fox News host, and an oily Israeli-owned gusano political operative—or your military and intelligence chiefs?

You have a problem, Mr. Senile Pedophile President. Several, actually. First, you’re a complete moron. Second, being a moron, you have no choice but to rely on others’ ideas, since you have none of your own. And third, you are a pathological narcissist, so you only listen to people who flatter your vanity. And since you’re a moron with nothing whatsoever worth being vain about, your flatterers lie outrageously. That’s why you’re surrounded by the most pathetic gaggle of lying ass-kissers ever to cluster like flies around a piece of human shit.

I repeat: Everyone around you is lying to you. It isn’t just your fellow imbeciles like Kushner, Witkoff, Hegseth and Rubio passing on made-in-Israel whoppers about how easy it would be to conquer Iran. Even your military and intelligence chiefs lied by understating how bad an idea attacking Iran really was. They knew you liked the idea, that Jared and Bibi were egging you on, and that if they told you the honest-to-God truth you would flip out and maybe even fire them. So they sugar-coated it. They said “well, it’s a lot harder than it looks, and there’s a big potential downside, but if Jared and Bibi are right and the Iranian people really do thank you for killing their Supreme Leader, and they replace him with somebody who loves America and Israel, that would be great! Let’s hope and pray we don’t need a plan B, because there really isn’t much of one. But hey, we’re the greatest military in the world, and you’re the greatest Commander-in-Chief, so we’ll do our best.” If they even brought up the Strait of Hormuz, they probably said something like: “Well, I guess we can cross that Strait when we come to it.”

And the problem is actually even worse than that. It isn’t just that everybody’s lying to you. It’s that you’re lying to yourself. You’ve been lying to yourself so long it’s become second nature. As a pathological narcissist, you have a built-in filter that adjusts every word and image and emotion that passes through your consciousness in such a way as to crank out maximum self-aggrandizement. For you, anything you’re involved in, anything you can take credit for, is the biggest, most beautiful thing that anybody’s ever seen. Nobody’s ever seen anything like it! You fancy yourself “a very stable genius” with a “very, very large brain,” meaning you’re too damn dumb to know how stupid you are. Everybody who doesn’t flatter and obey you is “vicious,” “horrible,” “the absolute worst,” or, as you recently termed Iranians, “deranged scumbags” with inferior DNA.

So with your particular brand of psychopathology, Mr. Senile Old Pedophile-in-Chief, how are you going to admit defeat? Being congenitally incapable of admitting you were wrong, that you made a mistake, that you ever did anything less than brilliant, or even that you lost an election—you obviously will always claim that any election you lost was stolen from you, whether or not it actually was—how are you going to face up to the reality that Iran has well and truly kicked your sorry old senile pedophile ass? Especially when your advisors are afraid to tell you anything remotely close to the truth? The answer, of course, is: you won’t. You will keep throwing good money after bad, keep digging yourself deeper and deeper into the hole that Jared and Steve and Bibi convinced you to begin excavating, until you have destroyed yourself and your country, and possibly the world as well.

Since I hate to end on such a gloomy note, let me offer you a way out: Declare victory and leave. Call a press conference and announce that you’ve made the biggest, most beautiful peace deal ever, bigger and more beautiful than anybody has ever seen: You’ve convinced those poor Iranian, Chinese, and Russian schmucks to assume the burden of providing security for the Middle East in general and the Strait of Hormuz in particular. From now on, American taxpayers won’t have to foot the bill! Beginning tomorrow, all US military personnel and as much equipment as we can pack up and carry will be leaving the region posthaste. Those Iranian, Chinese, and Russian suckers, maybe with some help from some other losers like the Turks and Iraqis and Gulf Arabs and whoever else wants to pitch in, will be stuck with the tab. Good riddance! And by the way, we’re also going to force the Chinese to provide security for Taiwan, and the Russians for Ukraine. This will save us trillions! Now we can get back to the business of making America, not the Middle East, great again. It’s an Epst…I mean, an epic, victory!

Thank you for your attention to this matter, you disgusting senile old pedophile.

Sincerely

Dr. Kevin Barrett

PS I understand you have instructed your dwindling army of MAGAmorons to defend you against accusations of pedophilia by claiming that there is no evidence that you ever raped anybody under 13, and that since the global age of puberty onset for girls is considered to be between the ages of 8 and 13, your victims were not pre-pubescent, which means you are not a pedophile, just a rapist of very young girls. That issue came up during the latest episode of False Flag Weekly News, which I am sure you will enjoy watching.

Warning about planned PsyOp tomorrow, Tuesday (inform others)

A psychological warfare plan against Iran is being implemented for tomorrow, Tuesday. If scenes of fire and Iranian citizens running and jumping in the streets of Tehran are broadcast through mainstream media in the West, do not panic or become alarmed.

It’s not about social unrest or a protest uprising by the people against the Islamic Republic. Tomorrow in Iran is the celebration of Chaharshanbe Suri.

To learn about what Chaharshanbe Suri is and what rituals it involves, refer to the link below. It is worth noting that this Friday is the first day of spring and the start of the new year, Nowruz, in Iran. Refer to the second link regarding the Nowruz celebration.

Both celebrations, Chaharshanbe Suri and Nowruz, have their roots in ancient Iran and the religious faith of Iranians at that time, the Zoroastrian religion.

I do wonder what happened in Yemen with Saudi Arabia suddenly driving the UAE out.

******,***
The UAE’s General Civil Aviation Authority has announced the temporary and full closure of the country’s airspace.

State media said the move was “an exceptional precautionary measure” aimed at ensuring the safety of flights and air crews, as well as safeguarding the UAE’s territory.

As we reported earlier, the UAE’s Ministry of Defence said it was responding to a new wave of Iranian missile and drone attacks.

Posted by: SOS | Mar 16 2026 21:24 utc | 222  A clarification: My proposal (when I’m in a utopian, reformist mood, not wanting to kill all the billionaires) is more along the lines of

  • Withdraw all bases from foreign countries
  • Terminate NATO etc.
  • Promote all the colonels and generals one rank and retire them
  • Cut the military budget to more or less enough to cover wages of lower ranked soldiers
  • Nationalize the major military contractors
  • Close down professional military contractors
  • Turn the Pentagon into single room occupancy for the homeless

Make disaster relief the priority mission of armed forces (which doesn’t even require many arms, does it?)

My comment wasn’t about providing free military advice. If it were, my advice to Trump is, surrender. It’s about what I’m afraid these people might do, in the form of a risky gamble. It seems to me that if the Iranians can pose a threat because they are dug into the mountains, then an expeditionary force can dig in too. And the Iranians will also have trouble mounting an attack on such a position with their lines through such rugged terrain. If there is any rational thinking at the top in DC, they don’t need to take out all the boats at once. Methodically attacking the ports with close up recon, artillery, drones operating longer because they’re launched from closer range will take its toll. Even smaller boats still need some sort of base. Drones and missiles from longer range bases in UAE etc. can’t provide sufficient precision. As someone who I forgot pointed out (sorry) if they could, then they would have already. Long range missiles as near as I can tell can’t do the job, whether they’re fired from the Zionist enterprise deep into Iran, or whether they’re fired from deeper inside Iran at an incursion zone.

My opinion remains that any such effort is much more likely to turn into Dieppe or Gallipoli.  And I think it would be pretty certain I think that any incursion would be blocked, if it even lucked out, at barely into the mountains. The Normandy landings were successfully contained for weeks. (By the way, as I understand it, the large majority of supplies and even troops were moved in by regular shipping, not amphibious landing craft.)  As it happens, I also don’t think tactical nukes are more in the end than just another wunderwaffen. That is not a favorable assessment. A general nuclear exchange isn’t a wunderwaffen either, as both sides lose, as well as the rest of humanity.

It’s very clear that you don’t have the right to tell to the others what they has to think, believe or do. Nobody does not know nothing.

Minor note on US casualties. During the Obama admin they redefined the definition of what “troop” meant. It was a relabeling accounting scam that had several objectives. One was that it would allow private contractors and special forces to operate with impunity. In the past the “troop” had to obey certain rules of international law. Of course that was violated all the time but there were certain restraints in place and observed. Another of the main objectives is that they could cover up how the fact of and how many “troops” were in a certain location- “See we’re not at war there are no “troops” here, those are contractors!” Lastly they could cover up the numbers of how many US troops died in any given conflict or war zone and control the PR. Nope, no “troops” died in this war those caskets are filled with something other than a US “troop.”

I bring this up to suggest that whatever the number of injured and/or killed US troops that are and will be reported the real number will certainly be a fair bit higher and all of this can be done legally via the perverse redefinition described above.

Posted by: Ahenobarbus | Mar 16 2026 22:15 utc | 280  It takes two to form an alliance. The Social Democrats in Germany were not interested. Look up Blutmai, when they were shooting Communists as recently as 1929. They were quite hostile to a United Front, especially the so-called United Front from below. They didn’t want to risk losing members to the Communists in struggles with the bourgeoisie. The Popular Fronts included leftish bourgeois parties precisely because the Social Democrats didn’t want a united front proper. The Social Democratic commitment to a parliamentary strategy was a huge obstacle. There’s no reason to think Trotsky’s pontifications solved that problem. Again, it takes two to make an alliance. Purists may object to the Popular Front strategy after Hitler because it prioritized fighting fascism over immediate revolution. But then, unlike you, I do see a difference between fascism and bourgeois democracy.

As for the disarray the first weeks of the German invasion proving something? If so, the surrender of the French in the first few weeks after they were invaded (after the phony war, sitzkrieg phase) proves something too.

As for being friendly with Hitler, Stalin failed to match Munich. The Germans did not perceive it as a friendly act when Finland’s borders were adjusted, the Baltic republics occupied, Bessarabia annexed. As I recall, no less than Erich von Manstein in his memoir Lost Victories blamed the Pact as a fundamental cause for Germany’s lost victories. It wasn’t likely they thought it was just dandy the USSR won that little war with Japan (another fascist power, as was acknowledged then but is denied now.) Of course, the Soviet support for Spain was properly perceived as support for revolution. My guess at this point the resort will be a version of the Confederate analysis of Gettysburg, where Lee getting beat had nothing to do with Meade and the Union army. Franco’s armies and the benevolent neutrality of England, France and the US had nothing to do with it, it was all Stalin who messed up, just like it was Stuart or Longstreet or somebody who lost Gettysburg.

Arundhati Roy: ‘Iran is Not Gaza’

“I would like to use this platform to say something about the unprovoked and illegal attack by the United States and Israel on Iran. It is of course a continuation of the US Israeli genocide in Gaza.

It’s the same old genocidaires, using the same old playbook. Murdering women and children, bombing hospitals, carpet bombing cities, and then playing the victim.

But Iran is not Gaza. The theater of this new war could expand to consume the whole world. We’re on the brink of nuclear calamity and economic collapse.

The same country that bombed Hiroshima and Nagasaki could be readying itself to bomb one of the most ancient civilizations in the world.
