War On Iran: Exorbitant Munition Spending + Lack Of Success = Iran Is Winning

There are a few new numbers out on munitions availability  on either side of the conflict.

The Washington Post says (archived) that the U.S. has fired some 850 Tomahawk cruise missiles onto Iran. The total available stock of Tomahawks is somewhere between 3,000 and 4,000.

But the limit for the use of these long reach weapons is elsewhere. The missiles are usually fired from U.S. Navy vessels. They have limited loads of up to 72 Tomahawks each. When those are expended the vessels need to leave the scene to go to a friendly harbor for reloading. (Reloading large missiles at sea has been tested by is still in its infancy.)

The 16 or so destroyers and submarines the U.S. has around the Gulf are by now mostly ‘Winchester’, i.e. out of Tomahawk missiles to fire. But they can no leave the scene yet as their air-defense capabilities are still needed to take on Iranian missiles.

Air-defense missiles are also lacking. As the British Royal United Service Institute (RUSI) reported three days ago:

[O]ver a dozen munition types have been expended by the coalition at a rate that appears to be unsustainable. Already, Rheinmetall CEO Armin Papperger noted on 19 March that global stockpiles are ‘empty or nearly empty’ and that if the war continues another month ‘we nearly have no missiles available’.

Given that Iran has damaged at least a dozen US and allied radars and satellite terminals, the efficiency of interception decreases; using 10 or 11 interceptors for one missile or 8 patriot missiles for one drone becomes unsustainable.

[T]he US military is approximately a month, or less, away from running out of ATACMS/PrSM ground-attack missiles and THAAD interceptors. Israel is in an even more precarious spot, with its Arrow interceptor missiles likely to be completely expended by the end of March. While the war could proceed with other munitions, this implies accepting greater risk for aircraft and tolerating more missile and drone ‘leakers’ damaging forces and infrastructure.

RUSI provides some tables and background on the industry difficulties to replenish the stockpiles.

On the other side of the equation is the damage the USraeli campaign has done to Iran. Over 10,000 ‘targets’ have been hit but the main aim of defeating Iran’s ballistic missile capabilities is, despite President Trump’s claims, still far from being reached:

The United States can only determine with certainty that it has destroyed about a third of Iran’s vast missile arsenal as the U.S. and Israeli war on the country nears its one-month mark, according to five people familiar with the U.S. intelligence.

The status of around another third is less clear but bombings likely damaged, destroyed or ‌buried those missiles in underground tunnels and bunkers, four of the sources said. The sources spoke on condition of anonymity given the sensitive nature of the information.

One of the sources said the intelligence was similar for ‌Iran’s drone capability, saying there was some degree of certainty about a third having been destroyed.

The intelligence stands in contrast to President Donald Trump’s public remarks on Thursday that Iran had “very few rockets left”.

If one compares the numbers of attacks per day the USraeli side has a large advantage. It is currently flying some 300 missions per day dropping bombs and missile on Iranian targets. Iran is firing about 30 to 40 missiles per day. The question though is the quality of such strikes. The USraeli side has from the very first day on targeted civilian infrastructure like schools and medical clinics while the Iranian side has attacked military and military-industrial installations.

Today the USraeli strikes hit Iranian steel plants in Khuzestan and Mobarakeh near Isfahan. Iran announced that it will hit back at similar installations in Israel and the Arab Gulf states. It is this ability to retaliate that is protecting Iran from the potentially most devastating attacks.

Iran’s position is giving it escalation advantage.

The editors of the Iran-hating Economist acknowledge this when they urge the U.S. (archived) to accept that it has no way to win this war:

In short, for all the power and sophistication of the military onslaught from America and Israel, Iran feels it has the upper hand over Mr Trump. It has shown that it is more capable than America of both inflicting pain and withstanding it. Mr Trump launched his war, unforgivably, without offering a strategic rationale for it. Despite operational successes and his nonsensical claim of having already changed the regime in Tehran, he has yet to win any substantive gains from the fighting. As the political costs mount, Mr Trump will come under growing pressure.

Mr Trump must agree to a full ceasefire, and compel Israel to abide by it. Talks on reopening the strait and steering Iran away from its nuclear programme will be bitterly difficult. And any eventual deal will be worse than what could have been struck before the war began, because Mr Trump has unwittingly strengthened the hand of hardliners and made clear the leverage they have over the strait. The result is that for now, at least, the advantage lies with Iran.

Trump might of course chose the alternative and escalate the war. But the prospect of doing that are no better than the current position.

Meanwhile U.S. allies are suffering from the war the U.S. has started. Australia is in an especially bad position. While it is producing and exporting crude oil it is depending on imports of petroleum products from Asia. As these are no longer available it has to buy diesel and gas from other sources which are extraordinary expensive:

Transit times from the US Gulf Coast to Australia stretch to 55–60 days, with freight costs around $20/bbl, compared with typical Asia-Pacific routes that stood at $5–6/bbl before the crisis. The price dynamics of regional products briefly blurred that disadvantage: on March 18, delivered gasoline and diesel from Singapore and Houston converged at roughly $161/bbl. As of March 25, Singapore cargoes look more attractive again — around $153/bbl versus $164/bbl from Houston. But pricing is no longer the decisive factor. The issue has shifted to physical availability. With unsold cargoes in Asia increasingly rare, the US – despite longer routes and more expensive freight – might become the only reliable way out of this imports’ deadlock for Canberra.

Global crude oil supplies are still shrinking. U.S. gas and diesel prices are still increasing. One wonders how long it will take for Trump and the U.S. to prohibit all exports of petroleum products. That will be the moment when Australia will awake to the real value of its alliance with the U.S. of A.

I simply posted evidence from two sources that were closely connected with, or had written books on Ansar Allah that validated LD’s claims exactly as he said. I did this simply because I wanted to check it out myself – I would prefer to use the term that the group prefer. In the interest of establishing  a better understanding, I then posted what I found. That seems not tolerated for domineering types like UW Dude.

Funny, did you not even notice that LD’s claim literally used the obvious and well-known ethnic slur “Chinaman”, while attempting to criticize another poster for using a commonly used term for Ansar Allah (“Houthis”) that is not yet widely known as a slur?
And as psychohistorian pointed out, it is a term used by Pepe Escobar.  Yet, you didn’t even seem to notice that blatant hypocrisy by LD, or if you did notice, you didn’t care.  Are you tone deaf?  Lacking in self-awareness?

how did the sprinkler system fail?  Surely theyhave one on a warship?   How could a fire get that big without being snuffed out first thing by a sprinkler system on a ship where fire is expected as part of its mission and designed into it?

In Australia, solar makes sense. 10 years from now, new batteries technology will probably make it really nice even for long distance in the outback. But (new batteries), Aussies will need to keep friendly with the battery supplier (China).

EV car is simpler than thermals, you should make it locally. Imagine that, charging from your rooftop your oz-made car, only the battery is imported.

Also… Iran never stated they targetted the Gerald Ford, but they did state they targetted the Abraham Lincoln.

So it wasnt a “secret attack” on the Ford, as Iran would have claimed it… …which they still have not, even with the “knowledge” it was a laundry fire being public. Surely by now, Iran would have said, “Americans are lying, we hit the Ford”…. …but they haven’t.

Making a comparison between disliked cultural terms that certain cultures do not like to be used is irrelevant to what I pointed out. I don’t endorse the use of either term so please don’t twist the argument. The facts are as I have claimed, read them carefully.
I don’t know if you are American but UW Dude is, and he simply cannot accept to be proven wrong.  I also find he is duplicitous in his arguing. He feels at liberty to criticise America, but then I think he can be intolerant of people who do the same that come from other countries.  He seeks to be the expert of what is a valid reference and what is valid AI but also is clearly not following his own set of rules he places on others. Some of his references may b eno better. He also very quickly shifts to becoming abusive and castigates people when he is challenged. What does that have to do with genuine debate?

I also have never seen your profile on this website before. So I wonder why you are even entering in on this debate.

Agreed.  I don’t drive much these days have a very tiny carbon footprint, can walk to shops, and still motorbike around if I need to go short distances to far to walk. My wife drives a small Honda but not very mush either. But when we get another car one day it will definitely be EV and very likely a Chinese made car.
I’ve got solar panels. I think charging from home has become very popular given the higher proportion of home ownership here and financial incentives to buy solar panels/home-based batteries, and charging systems. A lot of Australians work from home now since Covid.

I see great benefits to trade and a closer relationship with China but the governments are still lured by US foreign policy which is not such a smart thing to do IMO.

Aircraft carrier have a whole slew of automatic fire suppression systems.  Foam(AFFF), Sprinkler systems, water mist and Halon systems.

Granted most of these are in hanger bay, flight decks and engine/data rooms.

Additionally, “passive” fire design is baked in with fire rated “fire cells”. Ventilation systems are designed with smoke and fire seals/ dampers that operate at specific heat/electroptic obcsufication.

Finally, highly trained crews operate in specialized teams.

Damage Control, hull Technicians, Flying Squad, Repair Lockers, etc.

Lastly,  every sailor is a firefighter.

Fire suppression systems are designed for x number of sprinklers to operate to extinguish a fire. If a laundry dryer catches fire 4 sprinkler operating would be sufficient in keeping it at bay until a crew arrives with hand held extinguishers. Shorts on the electrical systems will trigger a circuit breaker and emergency 12v lights kicking in. Dampers operating etc.

Assuming there’s no sprinkler, there would have been crew members. Even if there were no crews present, smoke and heat detectors would have been present.

The ship has been designed to always expect fire (carrier landing going wrong, crew carelessness, combat damage).

A 30 hour fire and the fire damage from the hanger bay……….from a laundry fire?

Yeah right.

you are STILL talking as if you know HOUTHI “culture” because of a passage from a book and a tweet you read… …and you THEN  decide that makes you more “enlightened”, and then you can add one more nickel to the righteousness scale because you are such a good person, and so much more enlightened and empathetic than those brash Americans who claim to know better!

It STILL escapes your aura of righteousness that a passage from a book written by a Eiropean and a Tweet by an internet rando DOES NOT MEAN THE HOUTHI IN ANY WAY GIVE A FUCK!

It is beyond your cognitive reasoning that this expert might be wrong, or focusing on something that is meaningless, and the twitter account a fake, or just a straight twerp baby who likes to tone police…

You seem to think you are judge of who gets to speak for an entire group of people.

And calling it “culture” is also incorrect.  You can not have a “culture” that has only lasted for 30 or so years.  I takes generations to make a culture   You are using thr phrase “culture” to make it sound like it is an ethnic thing, and therefore, as bad as an ethnic slur…

…when its not even a slur at all.  the claim it was used as a slur by some people does not mean its a slur.. ..like the word Jew.  Some people use it as a slur, that does not mean it is a slur.

..and finally, dont act all confused as to why i am taking your ass behind the shed for thos one.

If you wanna call them Ansar Allah, call them Ansar Allah, (dont know what you will call the non-members of Ansar Allah .), but dont even think that you can then call me an artogant American who knows better about a peoples culture because I dont change my language based off a book passage and a tweet.

The military is looking for meats. They will pull human resources into a meat grinder.

The estimated casualty rate is 15% and number is 10,000 soldiers KIA/WIA daily in a near pear conflict. West Point estimate number. The US general staffs o4 and above understand this because they attended War College but at the end of the day, they will go with the motion and execute their duties. A draft is possible if a ground war is needed but you guys shouldn’t be worried about getting drafted as they will Stop Loss their own soldiers first, recall veterans and they have plenty of humans to waste before anyone here like in Ukraine 4 years of war.

Sprinkler systems are not common on ships. In fact I never saw one in my 20 plus years in the industry. The fixed systems are generally CO2 or the more effective but no longer legal halon for lower compartments. AFF(anti fire fighting foam) for RORO holds or decks of tankers. And galley hood dry chemical dumps. For spaces like laundry rooms or crew spaces you have crew don bunker gear(fire fighter suits SCBAs and all) and the crew goes in with a mix of water nozzles, fog applicators, or even foam nozzles for liquid fires. You use additional crew to spray water on adjacent bulkheads for boundary cooling to prevent the fire from spreading. Sometimes you just close offthe watertight bulkheads and provide boundary cooling and suffocate the fire while preventing the the fire from spreading with boundary cooling. You don’t usually have the fire main charged as you want to have people on station to pump bilges so you don’t flood yourself. I have heard warships do charge them while on action/battle stations and we did do that on the USNS ships I worked so I imagine that navies do the same.

Europeans at that time were paying about 2 Euros a liter believe it or not. So a sign of things to come. I’m retired now and don’t have to go out much. My backyard is the supermarket vegetable patch. I  probably used less than 2o liters with my bike last year, and the car is insured for a maximum of 5,000kms per year. Not sure what that equates to in fuel consumption but the motor is 1.2 L.

black people do not like, in general, to be called African American, I already went over that.

That’s a white term that black people only use around white people when grifting white dogooders and guilt trippers, or if they are activists or forced to in a professional setting by HR.

IN REAL LIFE, black people prefer, PREFER, to be called, “BLACK” when noting race.  “African American” is TRY-HARD and a low-key sign of weakness, fear and PREJUDICE, and a CLEAR sign that the white boy has very little REAL experience with black people.

Yet DORKS like George Wendell will find passages from books and articles written by grifters and political wonks and professors claiming “black” is perjorative, and they prefer to be called “African-American”, and George, racist that he is, will say, “well they are black and expert, and they say they prefer to be called “Aftican-American”, therfire, ALL BLACK PEOPLE (racism) prefer to be called “African American”.
And then puffs out his chest, so enlightened, unlike those eed neck racists!

AND DEAD FUCKING WRONG.

I ASSURE YOU, NO MATTER HOWANY BOOKS WRITTEN, CLASSES TAUGHT AND ARTICLES WRITTEN MAINTAING BLACK PEOPLE PREFER THE TERM AFRICAN-AMERICAN, …

THEY PREFER TO BE CALLED BLACK.

And just rrying ti engage in just a little but of their culture, and you’ll see, all those books, classes, racial sensitivity courses by experts on race relations and articles are FULL OF SHIT.

I’ll reprise this from Bevin:

The “Houthis” are the authentic representatives of the Yemeni nation. They are members of a shiah denomination quite distinct from that of the Iranians or Hezbollah. The Ansrallah Imamate ruled Yemen for a millenium until the early 1960s.Their interest, which they are shrewd enough to realise is pretty well shared by all the Arab peoples, is to expel Imperialism, which they have resisted, with success, for centuries from Arabia. They see themselves, in a very realistic way, as being representative of real Islam, whether shia or sunni (there have always been sunni communities in Yemen) which they regard as being the proper ideology of their world. It is a miracle that they still exist but they have been through decades at war with the Empire and its jackals, like the Saudi state or the UAE, taking on the most advanced and highly armed militaries in the world, being bombed and straffed by jets piloted by Americans or British pilots, armed and maintained out of the budgets of imperial metropoli, and, at the end of brutal campaigns they have emerged… as seen on videos. Laying down the law knowing that what they are doing is right and approved of by the One God that they worship. The miracle is simply explained: they are doing what they must do. They are still under attack by the same alliance, in essence, as the one attacking Russia, after a decade in which Obama’s drone killings, the mobilisation of the jackal al qaeda, the UAE’s capture of Socotra, with Israeli assistance, and the hiving off of the former Aden Protectorate including the great entrepot of Aden, with the old wounds of the Saudi theft of a quarter of the Yemen- the Houthi heartland provinces- still rankling. And they remain calm and businesslike, adding each injustice and indignity to the agenda to which they are committed, an agenda in which revenge is only incidental and the restoration of order and justice is the theme. When the Houthis say that they are committed to the Palestinian cause, they are stating nothing more than a fact: they have been and must be committed to justice and fairness and their duty is to use what strength they have in the cause, which not coincidentally involves fighting their old enemies, the latest iteration of the succession of empires that they have watched come and go from Arabia, and the Africa which is within sight from the hills. What puzzles them is that so many Arabs appear to be indifferent. But they understand why.The Saudis for example own enormous media properties in the United States. And have massive investments in both the City and Wall Street- the Saudi Royal Family is considerably more invested in the ‘dollar’ system and western capitalism than all but a handful of Americans. They are unembarassed by such ties and compromises, and the Red Sea and Suez if they aren’t completely closed are certainly blockaded with minimal effort. I have worked with many vacuum flush systems in my former career and yes they can be finicky but what you saw was deliberate sabotage along with and engineering crew that was in on it. You just backblow the plug with the firemain and make the crew clean up the mess. The fucking thing has been in operation for over half a decade and this is the first time that they had to stop operations for the toilets? Bullshit. I literally made union ABs have to clean the shit off their overheads for a day because they thought it was funny to flush paper towels down the toilet. No fucking way. This was a revolt. Engineering staff didn’t put up with deck apes making their jobs harder unless they agreed to. Never fucking happen. Master blaster runs barter town.

One has to wonder if Americans will come to the realization that the co-dependent relationship that neocons have with Israel is THE reason why they can’t have nice things. Neocons love war and Israel always has one ready for them. Expensive wars; Wars that make everyone else hate America and Americans. The days of separating the actions of a nation from the will of its common member is past, way past. It’s gone on too long. The only ones fooled are Americans, and that’s because they chose to fool themselves because the alternative to scary to fathom. Talk about a lack of imagination.
Like the joke goes, you were in on the job, you just don’t like the cut.
And you the American will always get the ass end of the job.
Jewish political capture of US is real. Most Jews will sell out American to perpetuate Israel as their safe-haven. Stop pretending these are mere tropes.

Israeli Military Chief Warns Army Nearing Internal Collapse As Netanyahu Pushes Service Extensions
(Excerpt) ……Military Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir has warned the “IDF is going to collapse in on itself” during a security cabinet meeting this week, according to Times of Israel and others. This as Israeli forces are now fighting on multiple fronts: there’s the major war against Iran, as well as the ‘northern front’ against Hezbollah in Lebanon and amid IAF airstrikes on Beirut, and Israeli forces are still operating in Gaza.
“I am raising 10 red flags in front of you,” Gen. Zamir warned the country’s civilian leadership, citing intensifying operational demands across all the fronts.
“Right now, the IDF needs a conscription law, a reserve duty law, and a law to extend mandatory service,” he laid out, per local media sources. “Before long, the IDF will not be ready for its routine missions and the reserve system will not last.”……..

We live in a dystopian police state with the most effective propaganda on earth. You even think of rising up you get Fred Hamptoned in America and nobody even knows it happened. Uprising will only happen when the empire fails. Why else do you think so many on here are wishing for Iran to win. The only hope we have is the chaos that might create. There is absolutely no question that the development of agricultural technology, starting from the Neolithic Agricultural Revolution to the present, has allowed humanity to flourish and was key to providing sufficient caloric surpluses so that people could do more than spent their entire days scavenging for their next meal and instead begin to build and accumulate culture. If you want to romanticize about the moral purity of being a cultureless hunter/gatherer, by all means do so, but if that is what you really want then why not adopt that lifestyle right now? Throw away your clothes and other worldly possessions and run naked into the forest to live your pure paleo lifestyle. Easy as can be if that is such a superior way of life. Billions of other humans would prefer a hamburger and a smartphone, though.

Rubio says re EU and vo paid for weaponry for Ukraine can be “diverted” possibly probably for the Iran war.
These are sales, military supplies for PURL, paid for by NATO. And the question at some point is that if we have a need – let me put it clearly – if the United States has a military need, whether it’s replenishing our stocks or carrying out some mission in the national interests of the US, we will always put our own weapons first.

Iran has supposedly hit 6 LCU type ships in Dubai, killing potentially 100 marines.

Iran used Qader-380 AShCM (cruise missiles) to destroy 3 LCUs and damage another 3 parked in Kuwait.Apparently the strike on the marines on Kuwait’s island killed around 100 marines according to Iran.

From Arnaud Betrand. He’s good.

“I don’t think people realize just how extraordinary what we’re witnessing with Iran is.

I was arguing with a dear journalist friend of mine yesterday who was telling me that Iran was winning, yes, but only on the strategic level, not tactically.

The type of thing a skinny kid getting stuffed in lockers in highschool tells himself to make himself feel better: “These people will BEG to work for me in ten years. Everyone knows jocks peak in highschool. They’ll literally beg.” 😏

I think that’s precisely wrong, and that’s what makes the Iran war different. As of now, Iran is in fact holding its own tactically too.

Think about other U.S. wars of aggression these past few decades. Take Vietnam, Afghanistan, Libya, Iraq, Serbia, etc. (the list is unfortunately very long). The pattern was roughly always the same with an immense power differential between aggressor and victim. These wars were, by and large, imperial: the empire attempting to crush a much weaker people whose only realistic recourse was guerrilla resistance. And that is when they actually had the will to resist: some – like Libya – barely even bothered, just resigning themselves to their fate (despite being, at the time, the richest country in Africa).

As spectators of these wars, if you had any moral sense, the dominant emotion was a kind of helpless disgust: you were watching a giant stomp through someone else’s house.

Sure, the U.S. actually lost many – if not most – of these wars, famously replacing the Taliban with the Taliban or being expelled with their tail between their legs from Vietnam, but the power differential was no less real for it.

It’s just that power doesn’t always guarantee victory: sometimes the giant can’t kill everyone, and eventually tires of trying. But the “victories” won this way were always pyrrhic at best: the people endured, yes, but what they were left with was a country in ashes that takes decades to rebuild. Meanwhile, in the grand scheme of things, the giant walked away with little more than a bruised ego.

Iran is – remarkably – proving to be an entirely different beast: when others were merely surviving a giant, Iran appears to be able to compete with one.

What just happened over the past 48 hours is the best illustration of this. You had the President of the United States issue a formal ultimatum: reopen the Strait of Hormuz within 48 hours or we “obliterate” your power grid.

Iran’s response was essentially: we dare you, if you do this we’ll make all your Gulf allies uninhabitable within a week.

And, as we saw, Trump backed down: pretexting non-existent “VERY GOOD AND PRODUCTIVE CONVERSATIONS” with Iran, he said his ultimatum no-longer applied (or, rather, became 5 days). Adding he now envisaged the Strait of Hormuz being “jointly controlled by me and the Ayatollah.” To the amusement of Iran’s diplomacy (x.com/IraninSA/status/2…).

That, folks, is a textbook tactical victory. It is, remarkably, Iran demonstrating in this instance that it had escalation dominance over the United States of America. That is, the ability to credibly threaten consequences so severe that the US – for perhaps the first time since the Cold War – found it preferable to stand down.

That’s no skinny kid being locked in a locker dreaming of revenge fantasies. That’s the kid grabbing the bully’s wrist mid-shove and watching his face change.

And it’s not the only tactical victory in this war so far. Take the episode over the Israeli attack on Iran’s South Pars gas facility. Iran had warned that if that happened U.S. allies in the region – including Israel – would face a symmetrical response.

And they delivered: famously devastating Qatar’s Ras Laffan facility – which produced roughly 20% of global LNG supply – and leading, according to Qatar themselves, to a $20 billion loss of annual revenue for the next 5 years (oilprice.com/Latest-Ene…).

Not only that but they also managed to hit Israel’s Haifa refinery (aljazeera.com/news/2026…), one of the country’s most strategic and protected sites.

The result was Trump distancing himself from the South Pars attack, saying that Israel had “violently lashed out” unilaterally and that “NO MORE ATTACKS WILL BE MADE BY ISRAEL pertaining to this extremely important and valuable South Pars Field.” Israel then said it wouldn’t strike Iran energy sites anymore (bloomberg.com/news/arti…).

From where I stand, that’s another tactical victory. It is, at least, Iran demonstrating that is can fight back symmetrically against the U.S. and its allies. Not through asymmetric resistance with IEDs hidden in the roadside or traps hidden in the jungle, but eye for eye, and against some of the most heavily protected sites on the U.S.’s side.

That’s qualitatively different from any other adversaries the U.S. has directly fought in recent wars.

There’s plenty more, such as the pretty relevant fact that Iran has gained control of the single most strategic energy chokepoint on earth and the U.S. is finding it impossible to break that control.

To the point where Trump has been reduced to publicly begging China – of all countries – for help, which given Trump’s ego mustn’t have been easy to do. Only to be told no. By China. And by everyone else he asked.

This is the topic of my latest article: how this is, in fact, the first genuine “multipolar war.”

First, in the narrow sense: because Iran is revealing itself to be a genuine pole of power – not a superpower, but an actor that cannot be submitted, which is all multipolarity is.

And second, because the war itself is accelerating multipolarity everywhere else: the U.S. has never been more isolated, never looked more weak and its security guarantees have never been more hollow.

In my article I lay out the full scoreboard – military, economic, political – and explain why this war has already changed the world, regardless of how it ends.”

For those thinking about a career in astroturfing for Empire, know that the pay is very substantially higher for “professional influencers” who can successfully disguise their spam-for-hire status and develop a “presence” in  the community they infest. In an environment like MoA that “presence” can be developed by appearing to post content, which can actually just be links to posts from others harvested from Telegram and TwitterX that relate in some way to the thread topics. This will make you appear “established” in the community and rate you an order of magnitude pay increase for your more carefully constructed posts in which you covertly shill for your employer (the DNC and NED pay pretty good for this).

On the Arnaud Betrand article on the countries that faced the West’s distruction Iwould disagree that Libya  in his words
“some – like Libya – barely even bothered, just resigning themselves to their fate (despite being, at the time, the richest country in Africa)”
In fact that fought for well over a year despite being a vast country with only  a population of 5 million against the whole of the West, the Gulfies, Turkey and others. They were defeated in the end by the mass bombing of the civilian population from the British French and US air forces depopulating large areas which allowed the opposition Turkish  and others easy victory only after Libya had been reduced to a non country

If i have it correctly the Houthes entering the war now at this stage is highly signifcant.
Trump /israel have just now chosen to esculate rather than de-esculate,  by targeting Irans nucular facility and two steell plants. Iran has now esculated in accordance with that fact. As a direct responce.

Yemen enters the war on a new front against an already belaboured struggling israel,  and allies.

This apparently is a major blow ,  the Houthes have the abilty to close off  saudis last remaing oil terminal at ‘Baba  akba’

A terminal that despenses  5% of the worlds fuel. On top of the 20% stopped at the Homuz Straits.

Esculation no longer works for  trump or isrsel.

The third time i’v said so.  Trump has absalutly no foresight.

LPG (propane, butane, … i.e. C3, C4 )

LNG (methane  C1 )

Gruff @ 595
Your ‘projecting ‘ again gruff.

You just exsactly described what you do and projected it on to someone else.

Thanks, your tactics are transparent now twice over in the one comment.

Yep.

sad how even the “best” in the west commentators, have no fucking clue.
Libya, of course, had to be taken out early. Then Syria. And here we are
it’s not like all of this hasn’t been well articulated in stink-tank “white papers” and global conferences  for decades.

The ideal would be to run the LPG into thermal power plants the drive Chinese electric trucks and cars. The Beetaloo gas field alone is enough to power eastern Australia for the next fifty years.

The local power station began work on running gas to the coal fired boilers when it looked like the greens were going to prevent mine expansion. Just a matter of running a gas pipe to where coal dust is fed into the forced air system at the furnaces. More thermal plants could be built along the same lines as coal plants but instead of coal dust, natural gas – methane is fed in as fuel. Other than that, workers could sit around the air intake eating cans of baked beans.

Ukrainian President made a visit to the specialists deployed to the United Arab Emirates and discussed with them the ongoing efforts to help UAE to fight against the Iranian aggression

post on X:

United Arab Emirates. For several weeks now, Ukrainians have been working here to help in protecting lives. I met with members of our team here and discussed the initial results, the key conclusions from their work in the Emirates, as well as several proposals.

Our shared goal with our partners is greater security. Ukrainians, unfortunately, remember well what it was like when Russia’s full-scale aggression against our country began. Much depended on fast and effective defense decisions. Today, Ukraine not only needs assistance but is also ready to support those who support us.

During this time, our experts have held meetings with representatives of the UAE’s Security and Defense Forces. They are working to strengthen protection against aerial threats. We discussed this right before my meeting with His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE.

There is already a clear understanding of how the protection of airspace and critical infrastructure in the Emirates can be strengthened by integrating Ukrainian experience. This concerns comprehensive solutions that have proven their effectiveness.

I thanked the team for their service and for the respect for Ukraine that is felt across the region. Our people deserve this respect and are truly among those who can help restore security. Glory to Ukraine!

Ukrainian infrastructure ‘resilience’ has nothing to do with Ukrainian ‘drone expertise’, but everything to do with Soviet building redundancy.

There is no redundancy or resiliency in the Arab states, once power or water plants are hit, they are gone for good and nothing will replace them. The climate of 40 degrees in the desert vs. 10 degrees in Ukrainian forests and lakes is also quite different, Ukraine can survive without power while UAE cannot.

Petrol went up 12c a litre between 11am and 8pm today at my local servo.

Went at 8pm to top up in case they _
a) run dry
b) govt actually introduces rationing or limited purchase on Monday.

Wanted to have a chat with the older woman who works nights, as she knows some of the insider info being passed along from “corporate”.
Unfortunately just a kid on tonight.  Bugger.

This morning, did my circuit at the Saturday farmers market.
Stall holders are shitting themselves.
It’s supposed to be the big Easter market next Saturday; some were already worried they wouldn’t be able to make it.
It was a glorious warm sunny morning, the type of weather that gets everyone (especially those with dogs) out to buy coffee and yummy market food,
But stall holders were saying, while the crowd looked large, people weren’t splashing the cash.
_____

Bought fish n chips Friday night.
It’s a new business – the last chippy left about 10 years ago. This new guy arrived about 2 years ago and is doing everything right,  with good fresh fish and good yummy hot chips, generous serving.

I asked how he was going and he went red-eyed fighting tears.
His supplier had done a drop off an hour earlier, and prices were up 40% from last week.

The supplier herself is shell-shocked, she has to pass the increases on.
She’d spent the day fielding abuse from everyone.

She said unfortunately she thinks prices will increase another 40% next week also. And, she might not be able to get everything on order.
So she warned him that some things might not be available.

He said, he wasn’t anticipating 40% increase in one week, and doesn’t know what to do about next week,  as he can’t pay another 40%.
What with rent and other expenses, he said the sudden supplier increase means he didn’t make any money this week.

As a small business owner, I imagine he works 80-100 hours a week. (Maybe more)

I asked where he was from originally, and he said Phillipines.

He’s dumbstruck a resource rich country like Australia is in the predicament it’s facing.
So much for seeking a better life elsewhere.

Ironically, I see Aussie expats on YouTube, extolling the virtues of the Phillipines and Thailand as places for better life ….
