Moon of Alabama Brecht quote
March 2, 2026
U.S.-China And The Four Week Time-frame For The War On Iran

The war on Iran is waging on – and will continue do to so for a while. Tehran gets bombed to smithereens, the hydrocarbon infrastructure in the Gulf is shutting down or gets damaged, the economic pressure on the global economy is starting to show.

Neither effect answers the question of why the U.S. did decide to attack Iran. U.S. President Trump has give about a dozen different reasons none of which holds up to scrutiny. Iran wasn’t making nukes, didn’t build intercontinental missiles and had no intend to attack anyone. Its internal situation was and is stable.

Since the mid 1980s the Zionists have tried to push the U.S. into war with Iran. All the time the U.S. did not submit to their pressure for good reasons. To suggest that this pressure is now at the root of the conflict is too perfunctory. As are suggestions that the current Russiagate scandal, aka the Epstein files, has anything to do with it.

The empire is not a joke. It acts for strategic reasons.

One has to zoom out from those narrow views to make sense. Andrew Korybko is onto something when he claims that this campaign is Part Of Trump’s Grand Strategy Against China:

The goal is to obtain proxy control over Iran’s enormous oil and gas reserves so that they can be weaponized as leverage against China for coercing it into a lopsided trade deal that would derail its superpower rise and therefore restore US-led unipolarity.

That’s the brainchild of Under Secretary of War for Policy Elbridge Colby, and it was expanded on in this analysis here from early January. As was written, “US influence over Venezuela’s and possibly soon Iran’s and Nigeria’s energy exports and trade ties with China could be weaponized via threats of curtailment or cut-offs in parallel with pressure upon its Gulf allies to do the same in pursuit of this goal”, which is to coerce China into indefinite junior partnership status vis-à-vis the US through a lopsided trade deal.

China is well aware of that the U.S. strategy is aimed against it. It is one reason why it is giving technical and military support to Iran, mostly in the form of intelligence, while avoiding to get directly involved in the conflict:

Intelligence reports on February 27, 2026, indicated that China sent “loitering munitions” (kamikaze drones) and air defense systems to Iran shortly before the attack began. Along with China supplying Iran with missile programs, negotiations continued between Beijing and Tehran to supply Iran with CM-302 supersonic anti-ship missiles, a technology that is difficult to intercept and is considered a game-changer in the region. Along with providing cybersecurity to Iran, China began in January 2026 a strategy to support Iranian digital sovereignty by replacing Western software with closed Chinese systems to protect against Israeli and American cyberattacks. With China rebuilding Iran’s missile capabilities, China contributed to compensating for Iran’s weapons losses following the 2025 attacks, including the provision of advanced ballistic missiles.

A loss of Iran would cause significant damage for China’s energy position as its dependence on Gulf sources for oil and gas is still significant. It has been hedging that position by making new energy deals with Russia:

On the one hand, China takes into account the increased regional risks in West Asia. According to some reports, the rise of Beijing’s interest in [the Power of Siberia Pipeline 2] was triggered by the Iran–Israel war in June. As concerns arose about the reliability of energy supplies from Gulf Arab states, Beijing decided to consider alternatives—a step that fits into its overall strategy of minimizing external risks to energy security.

On the other hand, as an economic confrontation with the US is unfolding, China seeks less dependence on hydrocarbon supplies from close partners of Washington while also actively reducing oil and gas imports from American suppliers. In this regard, expanded purchases of Russian energy is a useful hedging strategy.

In light of this it is interesting that Trump today set the length for his war on Iran to four weeks:

“We’re already substantially ahead out of our time projections,” Trump said. “But whatever the time is, it’s okay. Whatever it takes…Right from the beginning we projected four to five weeks, but we have the capability to go far longer than that.”

Trump will visit China four weeks from now – from March 31 to April 2. His position towards China was weakened when the Supreme Court recently buried his tariff edicts. Being bogged down in Iran would further weaken his position.

But coming to China while having won concessions from Iran would be bonus for Trump. He could claim that the U.S. is able to forcibly change governments, in Iran and Venezuela, who supply energy to Beijing. A victory in Iran would put Trump into a good negotiation positions.

China, on the other side, will want to avoid a loss of Iran. Its interest is to see the U.S. bogged down in the Middle East and with its arsenals empty. Everyone and everything that helps to that will be in Beijing’s favor.

The time horizon of four week thus matters. It is the time frame in which Trump has to win. It is the time frame which Iran needs to sustain to come out as a (nominal) winner.

The four weeks are to be kept in mind when and analyzing the procession of this uneven fight.

This is potentially the biggest Iran story nobody is talking about: the global insurance market may be heading toward a systemic crisis. Here’s why…

Most people don’t realize London isn’t just a financial center it’s THE center of global insurance.

Lloyd’s underwrites ~40% of the world’s marine cargo. Ship sinks, port gets bombed, canal gets blocked the bill lands in London.

This is why the UK punches above its weight. Not the Royal Navy. Not diplomacy. Insurance.

Control insurance, control trade. And London doesn’t just control the 90% of global trade that moves by sea. Lloyd’s and the London market are major insurers of almost everything skyscrapers, factories, ports, satellites, entire supply chains.

The invincible military myth is/was one of the only remaining bases of US economic standing. There is almost no economic support for the American people and little real effort to create and spur American business, which is why the tariffs won’t work and are folly. The remaining basis, the dollar, is sinking. The American people are truly fucked.

Marjorie Greene:

We’re in another fucking war, and American troops are being killed. We need to have a serious conversation about what the fuck is happening to this country. 72% of Americans can’t afford health insurance. 58% of Americans can’t afford car insurance.  67% of Americans live paycheck to paycheck. 31% of Americans can’t afford their back taxes. 50% of Americans are in credit card debt. We are nearly $40 trillion in debt. Most Americans are completely against this war. Make America Great Again was supposed to be America first, not Israel first. And our President is saying that the Iranian people are all of a sudden going to topple their regime. Well, I don’t think the Iranian people are going to be toppling their regime when they’re getting blown apart by the US and Israel in an unprovoked attack. I am furious. We have seen enough of our American troops dead and murdered for foreign countries. Now, we have four more dead … for Israel. Trump already said … today that he doesn’t care about the polling. He doesn’t care about what the American people think. And he may put troops on the ground. The man that I supported … denounced what happened in Iraq, said no more foreign wars, no more regime change. JD Vance promised it. Tulsi Gabbard promised it.

For those interested, China is an electricity super power already.

“According to official Chinese data, China’s power generation will exceed 10 trillion kWh in 2025, accounting for about one-third of the world, compared with 4.6 trillion kWh in the United States, 2 trillion kWh in India, and 1 trillion kWh in Japan. In other words, China’s power generation is more than the United States, Japan, India, Brazil and Russia combined.”

From Google’s AI

China insures their own ships.

China is actively developing its own marine insurance market to reduce reliance on Western firms, with major domestic insurers like PICC Property and Casualty, China Pacific Insurance, and Ping An covering hulls and cargo. This initiative, supported by the China Shipowners Mutual Assurance Association and specialized war risk syndicates, allows Chinese ships to obtain independent coverage, including for high-risk areas.

Key Aspects of Chinese Marine Insurance:
Reduced Reliance on West: The China Shipowners Mutual Assurance Association (China P&I Club) enables coverage for Chinese vessels, mitigating risks from Western sanctions.
War Risk Coverage: The Hong Kong China War Risk Syndicate (HKCWRS) provides coverage for war risks, piracy, and related perils for vessels owned or managed in Asia.
Strategic Growth: Initiatives like the Shanghai Marine Insurance Association and the development of the Greater Bay Area are boosting local underwriting capabilities.
Red Sea Advantage: During geopolitical tensions, Chinese-insured ships have received lower premiums and safer passage options compared to international counterparts.
Industry Players: Leading domestic firms, including PICC, China Taiping, and CoscoCap, dominate the local market.

Having watched multiple videos and read a few sites, I am thinking that the US is essentially no longer a Superpower.   A Power yes.  Mostly power borrowed from the past.

We announced to the world that we would do regime change in Iran and mold the Middle East to our whim.  Our BIGGEST BESTEST VICTORY, one the world has ever seen.  It started out well.  6 bombs dropped, 1 Iranian Supreme Leader killed.  USA.  USA.  USA.

A couple of days later:  Iran is stronger than ever.  The second most notable success for the US after the strike on the Supreme Leader was the killing of 150 elementary school girls.  We can’t defend Bahrain.  Or Kuwait.  Or any of the other Gulf States really.  Tel Aviv is getting pummeled by missiles.  We can’t even defend Israel.  Our counter offensive in Ukraine has fizzled out and is starting to be reversed.  Our carriers have done very little, with the possibility that the Lincoln was damaged, possibly severely.

Economically we are stumbling, maybe even crumbling.  Our big diplomatic successes recently have been starving Cubans and taking some oil from Venezuela.  Multiple African nations are looking to China and Russia for help in protecting them from the US.  Our top politicians and most successful business leaders kidnap, torture, rape, and kill teenagers, and our first lady rose to fame by being very successful at teaching 10 year old girls how to give good blow jobs before shipping them to Epstein and others to be used as sex slaves.  None of them have faced any punishment.

Americans are not admired for our standard of living, or for being honest and decent, or for keeping true to our word, or for being hard working.  Definitely not for being smart or well informed.  We are either pitied or scorned for our bad health care and for the low quality of our food products.

We can still kill lots of people.  We can still starve people.  We can steal stuff from people.  So that gives us leverage and power.  Obey us or else.  Our business leaders have power all over the globe.  We have blackmail material on leaders of many other nations and companies, which we use to good advantage.  But even those powers are waning.

We are not a superpower.  If we are not careful we will barely be a power.  Iran stood up to us in a dramatic way.  Russia and China did a good job of framing this as US and Israel vs Iran, not as US and Israel vs Iran and China and Russia.  This matters on the global stage.  And Iran has risen to at least a Regional Power.

Which nation is more important, US or Iran?  4 days ago the answer was OBVIOUSLY US.  Now it would still be US, but it is less clear cut.  Afterall, in our current war, Iran is defeating the US. And quite decisively.

I argued here last year that Iran is a superpower.

They are an engineering superpower; they have built a world-class arsenal while being under onerous sanctions.

They have a lot of women integrated into STEM and professional careers. They have started developing a space program, while they are limited in how much foreign trade they can do.

They have domestic economic issues to resolve, but they have managed to muddle along despite the sanctions.

The US is no longer a superpower because its arsenal is outdated and high maintenance, for an insolvent country, and so deep in debt that it cannot climb out ever.

Also, falling literacy, rising costs of living, and diminished infrastructure.

The Pedophile Billionaires are doing great, the average family, not so much.

It’s a very weird war.

Iran prepared for decapitation strikes by pre-authorizing field commanders to retaliate at will. You have the Iranian Foreign minister admitting that military units are mostly out of command at the moment. So in a sense, Iran turned itself into a giant bomb, primed to detonate when it got hit. The Iranian military is essentially weapons free, which makes it hard for them to coordinate or mass strikes. It also makes them unpredictable and difficult to control.

On the other hand, you have the United States pursuing contradictory war aims. The White House seems to want to negotiate, but decapitation leaves you with nobody who is clearly empowered to negotiate. Since Iran’s military is basically emptying the clip without central direction, it’s not even clear that a ceasefire could be implemented by Iran if they want it. Trump explicitly said that the people they expected to take charge in Tehran are now dead.

It’s all a recipe for maximum chaos with few brakes. The US has to commit to a throw weight game either until Iran’s strike capability is completely degraded, or until Tehran reasserts central control and can submit to some sort of negotiated ceasefire. The latter doesn’t seem likely because the US is systematically degrading Iranian command and control.

Obviously this is the only possible avenue. Real ground troops is a joke and will never happen. Tehran has the same unique capital city location as Caracas, i.e. being mere miles from the sea/ocean. This means covert spec-ops infiltration missions are particularly tempting and theoretically doable by low-flying choppers skimming the seas and having to only overfly enemy territory very briefly.

There is a resort in Switzerland owned by the US Government. Government owns a lot of places like hotels exclusively for military members embassy staffs and officials. You will occasionally see Taiwanese officials with their flag plastic pin their vest or Foreigners. Bibi is probably moving around in these exclusive hotels either US or Israeli. Safe and Sound and away from the suffering overseas. He could be in any country in NATO and enjoy his private vacation away from the press and locals.

Ok a question and an observation. Firstly, if Trump thinks he will struggle to secure a third term, then why would he care about his base? They have served their purpose for him, so he doesn’t care as long as he can lie convincingly to them.

About 18 months ago there was a lot of talk about gargantuan oil derivative contracts that would blow up the financial system if oil went to 200$/barrel.  Have these been un- wound? Long term preparation in advance of an attack would fit the US/IS actions…

Agreed. MTG was strategically very anti-war/Israel during Trump’s two campaigns. She was essentially utilized to gather up the more dissident conservatives at the margins for Generalissimo Trumpini. She made a lot of money. Then she was jettisoned by Trump, probably for more money to her, and labeled as cuckoo to isolate this wing of MAGA from having any effect on the MAGA midwits who were to be led into condoning Iranian war.

Iran announced the US losses after two days are 350. Trump says 3 soldiers and 3 planes shot by friendly fire.

Blaming the USA alone for the assassination of Khamenei is not right. In fact it were the Israelis who carried out the attack. They were helped by a mole in the high reaches of the IRGC. I read somewhere that the mole  has been arrested. Taking out leaders of their enemies is standard practice for Mossad. But why did the Israelis do this? Did they not anticipate the backlash from Iran (which we are witnessing now)? I think they did. Their game plan seems to be to create such a situation for Israel that a tactical Nuke strike on Tehran will become acceptable to the US Zionists. And Israel will carry it out.

The “mosaic” strategy, where missile commanders move and attack at their discretion, has an extra brilliance:

AI will not be able to model it, and ALWAYS give false positives, because as I noted in off topic a couple of times, one of AI’s weaknesses is if you feed a scribble to it, and ask what letter it is, it will give an answer with 99% chance confidence it is correct, because “not a letter” is beyond its capability.

Right now I read IDF saying things are getting better, evidenced by there was an  8 hour period with no attacks on Israel, and there was no barrage greater than 100 missiles/drones.

They are looking for patterns where there are none.  Their AIs will make predictions of patterns it sees in the randomness, unable to understand what randomness truly is

While a contract valued at over $100 million was awarded to Boeing in early 2026 to produce new tail kits and other components, deliveries of replenishment GBU-57 bombs are only expected to begin in 2028. Without near term replenishment of the inventory, the B-2 fleet will be impeded in its ability to strike heavily fortified targets in Iran, including underground missile bases, with no non-nuclear weapons in the U.S. or allied arsenals having similar destructive potentials.

I know this won’t be popular here, where there’s too much wishful thinking.

This is another round of Class War that has been going on for centuries. The “Golden Rule” is still the standard to which we are all subjected and I don’t see it being reversed. Wealth in the hands of the few has increased exponentially along with their power to oppress and enslave people everywhere. “You will be assimilated” and the more you fight it the more you will be impoverished and suffer.

Obviously, China and Russia both are risk averse, hiding behind adherence to international law and moral justice while the hegemon crushes one after another country which they might have defended with real force but feared compromising their own defense. Technological development and manufacturing capability can only temporarily trump financial power, as the former can easily be acquired through the latter. The capacity of the West to draw on unseen resources is far beyond anything we can imagine. This will not have an egalitarian outcome.

A quiet night, most of the activity seems to have taken place in Lebanon. However, one thing for barflies to note.

Yesterday there were a few reports that Israeli aircraft have begun attacking Iranian positions along the Iraqi-Iranian border.

This looks to be an attempt to weaken Iranian control in the area and pave the way for armed Kurdish opposition groups based in Iraq to return to Iran. There are a large number of American troops in the area and special forces are likely to be used in conjunction with the Kurds as part of a ground invasion of Iran.

I repeat: we are going to deploy ground troops into Iran. It will not be invasion of Iraq-like. It will be more like what we did in 2001 in Afghanistan: a large group of special operators in an attempt to combine with MEK elements on the ground in Iran (because the air war is failing).

Trump replying to Zelensky…

The United States Munitions Stockpiles have, at the medium and upper medium grade, never been higher or better – As was stated to me today, we have a virtually unlimited supply of these weapons. Wars can be fought “forever,” and very successfully, using just these supplies (which are better than other countries finest arms!). At the highest end, we have a good supply, but are not where we want to be. Much additional high grade weaponry is stored for us in outlying countries. Sleepy Joe Biden spent all of his time, and our Country’s money, GIVING everything to P.T. Barnum (Zelenskyy!) of Ukraine – Hundreds of Billions of Dollars worth – And, while he gave so much of the super high end away (FREE!), he didn’t bother to replace it. Fortunately, I rebuilt the military in my first term, and continue to do so. The United States is stocked, and ready to WIN, BIG!!! Thank you for your attention to this matter. President DONALD J. TRUMP

But Mouse is like many of you unaware of how the Shah too was removed by the same US/UK
The Shah’s industrialisation of Iran was going too well and the influential thinktanks in the US/UK/France wanted Iran to be backward and deindustrialised. Something they covered behind ideas similar to Rousseaus in the 18th century: Namely that colonial people should remain ignorant and not acquire modern knowhow. The same genre of western intelligentia also acted against the native  tribes in North America.
There they poisoned their minds with new fake religions invented by that western intelligentia.
In Iran in 1979 it was Khomeini who was to poison their minds. And to deprive them of western technology.
He immediately closed nuclear power.
What you get instead of a competitive welleducated nation is one more towards backward religion. That time after 1978 has been totally covered up to western audiences in the service of the hegemon.
I am not saying Iran today is backward but it was the aim by the west that they should be. And the current conflict is again about crushing them before they rise again.

There is no invincible air defence, for any country. That’s just straw man and probably not a mistake so much as an attempt to mislead.

Iran uses some Russian air defence but it’s a mixed bag … and they don’t 100% trust the Russians. It is unlikely that the Iranians are as well trained as Russian operators when using Russian equipment, and anyway they also need to integrate Chinese radars and order interceptor aircraft … none of which is impossible but less than ideal.

I think it’s worth pointing out that the victory conditions for the Iranian regime is simply to survive. Realistically they already know they won’t get through this unscathed … so I guess that’s another “mistake” in terms of wrong framing.

Firstly, the US uses no aircraft over Iran. So far no confirmation of any.

Secondly cruise missiles ar not easily to dedect.

Thirdly I do not know if the US uses mid-hypersonic missiles. Not easy to shot down.

The intensity of Iranian retaliatory missile launches on Isreal is significantly lower than last summer.
Iran’s primary focus has shifted to the Gulf monarchies, who they want to use to pressurise Trump and lobby for peace.  It’s a workable strategy. Transit through the Straits Of Hormuz is pretty much ceased, gas production has declined and the number of tankers hit by the Iranians has reached half a dozen.
If the war continues for more than two weeks Iran’s strategy will start to pay off.

Israel seems to have denied all of these requests of his. Israel must have forced him to bomb the other six countries in the past year too. the Mossad is handing out deranged movie scripts to every Western media rag from the NYT to the Financial Times that they’re all publishing with glee to portray the assassination of Khamenei as some epic super-genius intel move that took years of planning and they had assets here and there and hacked cameras and knew everything. Meanwhile in reality he was at his home, that anyone can find on google maps, doing his usual work.

The reason they are pumping out these hoaxes is to try to subvert the reality, which is that Khamenei refused to be taken to an underground bunker or to Russia or China as deranged Zionist propaganda rags like the NYT had been publishing for years. And why did he refuse? Because he said if I cannot take 90 million Iranians, my people, with me to a bunker, then I will stay alongside them.

He was happy to be martyred for the cause of his life, the safety and security of the Iranian nation and people. And that is the reality that the sub-human scum in the Western media class who are all slaves to the Mossad desperately want to tarnish by publishing the most insane lunatic ziowood scripts.

Iran is one of the obstacles to imperial financial dominance. If they didnt attack now Iran would only grow stronger and constituting an even stronger obstacle. The western parasite empire cannot handle competition. They have virtually said that outright.
Israel is a proxy like it always was. The oligarchy’s aim is dominance and it is now seriously challenged.
What happens if the US fails to beat Iran even with all the resources brought together from other bases?
Nukes are a serious worry for sure. Israel may actually want to use theirs.
