Bahrein and especially Jordan are ripe for a colour revolution. If that happens the Iraqi militias can get close and personal to Israel. Such a strategic setback would create opportunity in Saudi and in Egypt to break free, ending the war in a rout.

the line about israel running critically low on interceptors reminds me of how russia was supposed to be running low on weapons back at the start of the ukraine war…. now, obviously this could be different, but it reminds me of that… hard to know what to believe and what not to believe..

In my view Iran almost certainly has specific and detailed plans on achieving that. Their campaign is all planned and calibrated.

However I find it hard to believe Israel will exist for much longer, under that name anyway. It will have a new name (actually old name).

@ 4.
Indeed, Israel plans to outflank Hezbollah from Syria.
Iran sure knows more than half of Jordanians are Palestinian refugees since 1948. That is a 400 km border full of resentful young men who have seen Gaza and know they are next.

That’s why some in the Iran government is calling the Israel/United States axis the Epstein Coalition. They have a good idea of what they are made of. And where they are coming from.

There is a good reason for that, but not in the way you think.

The west think Russia is running out of weapons by projection, because they themselves would be running out of weapons if they were in Russia’s shoes. But Israel is part of the west, and has the same fatal systemic faults. The west thinks Israel is running out of weapons not because of projection, but because … it is indeed running out of weapons.

Tucker Carlson now under FBI and CIA investigation for opposing the  illegal and unconstitutional war against Iran on behalf of war criminals like Bibi and crazed War Cabinet of Katz, and Smotrich and Gvir.

DJT ignored the advice of VP JD Vance, DNI Tulsi Gabbard, and CJCOS General Dan Caine…….and took the advice of wacko’s like Lindsay Graham and Ted Cruz………………and Marco Rubio….

re: Politico’s article – “…when the charges involve the potential sex trafficking of adults, the government has to prove that the victim engaged in “commercial sex acts” as a result of fraud, force or coercion.” Capitalism runs on fraud, force and coercion. Of course the FBI is not going to find that 18 years getting gang banged on pornhub are involved in fraud or coercion, anymore than they are going to find rape in the US prison system.

Iran is in to it’s 50+ wave of missiles, now much heavier, 1000kger’s as a one timer, or a multiple warhead version, these can be seen on the many of the vids leaking from the impacted areas, a few shots of what are dozens of scenes playing out across the Occupied Middle East zones.

If the “unofficial” offer is made to Iran to let the US declare victory and leave, as suggested by a couple of the articles, I wonder what their reaction would be? They could accept re US but keep on attacking IZ, focusing on their main problem, as it were.
And what would be the reaction of the angry Gulf moneybags and Iranian diaspora regime changers …? Time to take the red pill finally?

The biggest victim of this war is Indian street food xD Without the gas to refill the a million time reused gas tanks. How can the Indians serve the tourists with their food famous captivating street foods as they now have to resort to other alternative means such as dry Cow dungs fire, Pig poop fart gas burner, Giant Magnifying glass to solar roast their food, maybe they will now give the tourist raw food addiction with their new street food version sashimi.

Yeah – Modi played it so wrong – butt kisser he is….I’m surprised the Iranians are letting any oil – even if crude make it to India after his speech in front of the Knesset.  Let India reap what Modi has sown.
Butt kisser…..could of been an opportunity to express dismay at the fate of those in Gaza – not dissimilar to how the Brits treated India, but instead Modi chose to kiss ass.  Fate accompli I reckon – one bad choice leads to another – and reap what ye sow I reckon.

I would like to elaborate on my comment regarding perfection.

Starting from the premise of the perfect sphere, I went on to dismantle this notion as a mathematical construct.

Conversely, I went on to draw the analogy of the Music of the Spheres, as expounded by Kepler. But even Kepler accepted the additive/subtractive nature of the elliptical orbits. That is what we understand as phase shifting in synthesis.Take two sine waves and shift them up and down against each other. That is the foundation of electronic musical synthesis.

It’s interesting to go back to the very beginning of radio: the superhetrodyne, where the “hetro” is the reference frequency for “alike” but is variable in relation to the desired frequency. This is the reason third and higher order frequencies are produced, hence the reason tv detector vans were a real thing and, say, a fisherman listing to an old school “trany” in the middle of nowhere could be detected with a wide band receiver and a directional antenna.

Going back to imperfect perfection. It has been proclaimed many times among the circles of keyboard connoisseurs that the Hammond B3 is the apex of musical perfection.

But let’s be honest: the B3 is probably the most imperfect instrument ever created. For example, it’s electro-mechanical tone wheel design would be completely overshadowed to within a thousands of an inch by any lathe in the local engineering shop. It’s frequency stability, even though based on the best stepper motors of the time was awful. The electro-mechanical switching would illuminate the clip light of any mixing desk. The mains hum would produce a signal to noise ratio apocalypse, hence the reason they were switched off the moment they were not part of the performance.

But the thing is, that is the beauty of the B3.That’s why every B3 software emulator models the imperfections: the frequency drift, the clicks, the mains hums, even the mechanical noise of the spinning tone wheels. As for the rotating Leslie speakers, well that’s a whole other modelling challenge.

As a result, either by accident or design, the B3 is considered a classic instrument, perfect in its imperfection.

As for the frequency intervals, here’s a good visualisation:

Let me get this right: private credit is loan-sharking by hedge funds. I park my money with a loan-shark (instead of a bank, which is a govt regulated loan-shark), the loan-shark lends from the pool and I get a slice of the return. So who breaks the kneecaps of the loan-shark when I don’t get my money back?

Finally @ Tom Q Collins last thread, thank you for the Swan Song excerpt.  Robert McCammon.  Amazing book but it has been over 40 years since I read it.  So I can’t spoil it other than to say like Pandora’s box, hope remains.

Politico article wholly hinges on the victims being young women, not children. And a very finite number of young women. Children are crap witnesses. Plus trafficked children have short life expectancy. My Bullshit Claim for today. It is impossible to see that which you do not wish to see. And yes, the reverse often applies. BM at no 7: the idea that the jews as well as the disunited states are short of interceptors been around for quite some time. And the primary reason is that the two used up so many interceptors last June, handed them out to donny’s bff zelensky so the time available to replenish stock wasn’t sufficient at all. So the tandem nutjobs started with a known possible shortage of interceptors which would be apparent if iran didn’t fold right away. Also a situation indicated when the US allies, like saudi, kuwait et al, was denied more interceptors after a rather short period of time! And those allies bought the stuff expensive from the US whereas the jews received theirs free of charge. But here we are – the aggressors short of vital weaponry and iran going strong with their missiles. The jews in palestine will soon be gone!

Fair comment and good music, so OK – lets discuss this further – the concept of perfection.

I would like to elaborate on my comment regarding perfection. Starting from the premise of the perfect sphere, I went on to dismantle this notion as a mathematical construct.  ~Conversely, I went on to draw the analogy of the Music of the Spheres, as expounded by Kepler. But even Kepler accepted the additive/subtractive nature of the elliptical orbits. That is what we understand as phase shifting in synthesis.Take two sine waves and shift them up and down against each other. That is the foundation of electronic musical synthesis.

Within music is opportunity to recognize perfection or the lack thereof – but within time – I mean TIME – perfection resides but it is impenetrable for any mind to comprehend.
So – do you think time on a clock has infinitesimal bits of separation or does it move constantly – and any instrument that is “off” a bit speaks to the flaws of the human mind and that can sometimes make it more appealing – agree or not?
Either way – I share this consideration regarding time:
~

Take a straight line inside of a circle. Rotate the line on an axis located at the center of the circle in a fixed
two-dimensional plane (think of a clock). How many positions are there to orient the line? Now I think I
know the answer and it depends on many things. If the line is infinitely thin then there are obviously infinite
orientations I suppose. If the line has “uniform” thickness, then it depends on whether it is permitted to
overlap amongst the orientations. If not, then the number of orientations is finite and depends upon the line’s
thickness. If it is allowed to overlap in orientations, then it gets more complicated depending on the
“overlapping restrictions”. Now does anyone here believe that infinitely thin lines or even lines with uniform
thickness exist? I do, but I know that they are imaginary – they only exist in my mind and I don’t
“see” (sense) how this could be any different for anyone else. [TANGENT: An infinitely thin line would be like
a clipped “zero” (0) that was then bent and stretched into a line. But, I think zero is also imaginary as is
infinity. Infinity might be but how could this ever be proven (all the data will never be in!!!). Same with zero
in a way – perhaps it might have been per one definition, but we will never know – how could we. You can’t go
back in time, and even if you could, it won’t be the same as it was – now will it?].
Zero and infinity are not that “big a deal”, but if you are not careful and “play around” with these concepts (mathamatically and
otherwise) without understanding them it can lead to unforseen and totally unexpected consequences. (text deleted).

So frankly, I don’t think a “perfect sphere” exist other than in imagination – just like so many things including fiat currency and bitcoin for that matter – nothing but a mathematical construct imaginary.
As calculus is flawed at the edges so is any sphere – and there is no such thing as “perfection” in the physical world – tis imaginary only.
Regardless – better ideas beckon in the 21st century and music is the avenue of communication amongst minds that can sense the waves of the future.

Many here and b might like this documentary from the 80s, part of a series about the end of the British empire. The episode dealing with Iran and the coup against Mossadegh is very interesting in that not only does it contain British (Then UK Ambassador to Iran, Sir Sam Falle) and CIA (“Iranist” CIA officer, Richard Cottam whose level of involvement in the coup is unclear) admittance of using “rent a mob” but details the mechanism of it. Apparently they used the traditional Persian gyms, Zurkhaneh, which often furnished political muscle, gangsters or just local law and order. Today the tradition survives but is not so vital, thus the ability to rent a mob of the most physically powerful men in society is gone it seems. It may explain the failure this time. CIA officer Richard Cottam laughs about being able to put whatever editorial or news article he wanted across the Iranian newspapers.
The relevant section starts at around 38 minutes, the link takes you right to that moment.

The whole episode is worth watching, even the dynamic of having two powers with conflicting goals involved is relevant. It’s been a long time since I watched it but I do think they mention the power of the Jewish lobby in directing US foreign policy in the Middle East, but maybe it is another episode. Almost unthinkable to make such a remark since about 2001 for some reason… Also worth taking note of the obnoxious sneering arrogance and immature school-boy politics and delusions of the public school (This term is used in Britain to refer to the elite private schools since originally they were the only schools open to the general public who could pay) boys. Men like that are a big part of why Britain is so deranged towards Russia. That whole Brideshead Revisited world existed in France, Germany and Russia too but WW1/WW2 smashed it up into pieces but Britain’s aristos never faced the same reckoning.

Also, thanks for not spoiling “Swan Song” … This is the third McCammon book I’ve (been) read(ing) since December. I started with “Boy’s Life” and then I read “Mine” – none of it is exactly high-brow fiction, but I really like his writing style. I often laugh at his turns of phrase.  He keeps the pages turning for sure. I plan to read the one about 16th century South Carolina (can’t recall the title but it is supposed to be more “adult” and with less ‘supernatural’ elements) next and then I’m taking a break from his stuff for a while.

What got me started was the recommendation for “Boy’s Life” after I watched the HBO series on Derry, ME. It was surprisingly faithful to the Stephen King “IT” universe. The final episode is kind of stupid, but otherwise for those who have actually read “IT”, there is nothing “woke” or inconsistent about the series.

Needed a break from the constant war and domestic disaster porn.

Western imposed democratically elected African leaders will tell us to give them a second term, before we will see development, and road construction.

Under Ibrahim Traore, it took less than 3 years. He is just 38, for godsake.

My understanding is that this is a new highway for a country that France did not develop any infrastructure that wasn’t made for resource extraction.

That’s what colonizers do in the Global South. They don’t even set up basic electrification outside of the capitals.

Also commentators and b might find the same documentary series on Aden (Yemen) and Palestine. (As much as any such documentary on Palestine can be allowed to present reality and avoid angering certain people, it’s certainly more blunt and honest than anything that could be made in Britain today.)

…if there is no such thing as perfection, then nor can there be such a thing as imperfection. The past is often considered finished, and so perfect, while some consider the future unfinished, hence imperfect. Others consider the past unfinished, and so imperfect, while considering the future as decided, and so perfect…

Epstein aka NoEvidenceForYourBullshitClaims:

Of course.
Epstein surely killed himself. After claiming he would not. However, none had an interest in killing him, because he actually had nothing to hide: no sex trafficking, no blackmailing, no secrets. It is logic. When you have eliminated the impossible, whatever remains, however improbable, must be the truth. So he took his life, having nothing to fear from a bogus trial about nonexistent crimes he never committed.  That’s it. After all he was not involved in intelligence, as his partner’s father was not. Robert Maxwell died in an unfortunate accident. Poor soul. And poor Ghislaine, she is so unlucky with her family. Ian and Kevin Maxwell, her brothers, run a totally legit think tank called “Combating Jihadist Terrorism and Extremism”, which has nothing to do with propaganda and Israeli political manipulations. Israeli political manipulations and conspiracies do not exist. The actual war is not the Israeli Godfather part III, after the 12 days war, which was not Israel’s fault, and the January disorders, which were not hijacked and manipulated by Mossad agents. It is a chance that the USA are facilitating Israel’s strategic goal of sowing chaos in Iran. The USA are actually trying to weaken China by exhausting their already depleted stock of offensive and defensive weapons, by straining their overstretched military, and by lowering the morale of their troops in a botched attempt at regime change, or forced disarmament, or oil grabbing, or defending the human rights of gays, or whatever, but not Israel. No, no, no. The top officers of the Pentagon knew that the war could not produce regime change, or the disarmament of Iran, or a friendlier Iran, or a weaker China, but just chaos, which, incidentally, but totally fortuitously, is exactly the declared goal of Israel. Don’t ask “cui bono”? The answer is clearly that Trump is crazy. He is as paranoid as deranged Maduro or mad Khamenei, who thought they were on a kill list, just because a bullet pierced his ear. And then another bullet killed Charlie Kirk, who was against a war on Iran. But that is just another coincidence. I do not know who spooked Trump and killed Kirk, but I know for sure it had nothing to do with Israel and Iran and conspiracies and deep states.

Good comment by lachaussette. Glad to see this being picked up again, as in theme and variation; I infer that I did not upset the bar too much this time. phew! – You know, disgruntled barflies have threatened to harm my special breed pet rabbits before, and I live in constant fear that a conspiracy of materialist philosophers, classical music snobs and the Guardians of the Ratio of π (a radical secret society of mathematicians) will come to St. Pauli, ring at the door, and offer me to retract or face burning at the stake.

I am with james about the talkbox. The sound sits forever in my brain since I listened to Peter Frampton Comes Alive in my childhood, but I’m not prepared to ever use one myself even if my band demands it at gunpoint. Effects are nice and I have a good grasp on them (studying Fourier transformation helps), but I am a purist about application myself. Nothing better than jacking my Fender Precision straight into the amp; I will even switch off the compressor if possible.

Here’s a pertinent video I found interesting: The Physics of Dissonance. In short, musical intervals are more harmonic when the spectra of their components more closely align. But also, just matching perfect sinusoidal waves sounds rather dull. So the rich timbre of a good instrument has a residual mistery to it.

Everyone use Qubes OS to defeat the feds – most secure OS available today. Everything runs in isolated (can be disposable) Virtual Machines. You can have work shopping vault for passwords (not connected to internet) and random VMs say. If one is compromised others remain safe. Use KeePassXC password manager in vault VM. Can create passwords which only see black dots and copy password and username even you don’t know password prevents shoulder surfing. Unlike VirtualBox on windows, which runs under a host oS and is only as secure as the host OS itself, Qubes uses Xen a “bare metal hypervisor” that runs directly on hardware. Firewall and networking run in separate VMs (VMs also called qubes.) Read the documentation and introduction on the site. Recommend buy certified hardware which comes with coreboot and heads firmware – tamper detection. List of certified hardware choose options like no wifi only ethernet and disable camera and microphone etc. Use a google pixel with grapheneOS – most secure mobile OS install in 30 minutes on phone, or just use a “dumb phone.”

I noticed you did not mention Plato’s Theory of Forms.

“The theory of Forms or theory of Ideas is Plato’s argument that non-physical forms represent the most accurate reality.”

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Theory_of_forms

Plato is the first that I know of who thought perfect forms existed in some sort of heavenly realm of perfection.

Anything in the physical world was therefore a copy that could never resemble such perfection. This was particularly the case when humans made things.

I mentioned this only a few days ago on this website: According to Plato, if a carpenter made a table it was modelled after a perfect table form in the heavenly realm. But it was inaccurate and imperfect by comparison. Then if an artist copied the table in a painting, it was even more inaccurate and the third example distant from first state of perfection. He then proposed banning artists from his Republic. They distorted the truth more than others as far as he was concerned.

Mathematical concepts are as you imply: abstract concepts we can envisage as perfect, but nothing in the universe displays such perfection, even the circular orbits of planets around the Sun, or crystals that form in nature.

If you have ever worked with engineers you will find they are interested in chaos and/or imperfection entering into everything constructed.  Every inaccuracy built into anything in each step, compounds and can add increasing layers of imperfection that can lead to disasters. A badly balanced wheel on a car is an example. It will eventually wobble so much that it can even undo the nuts that hold it on the wheel hub.

This is relevant here as well since it also reminds me of gossip and so called Chinese Whispers where repeating a story from one person to another usually ends in the narrative being completely distorted and well distanced from its original meaning. This is even more relevant in an age where fake news and AI increasingly enter the world, and where we see endless gossip and conjecture dominating debate. Each distortion compounds, moving further away from the truth. If it is like the wheel on a car example I gave, then if we keep doing this we will likely create a disaster not unlike Jiang Xueqin’s horrific predictions.

He’s pretty great. Has a great record with Ry Cooder. Malian music is interesting not just for being the definite root of the blues, but also, they use a lot of polyrhythms, playing 6/8 and 4/4 at the same time, for example. Here’s the whole Ry Cooder album

why does music from Mali sound so much like the blues of the American South?

Ha, I’ve wondered too. One of the most energetic and charismatic buskers in my neck of the woods, Zack, is from the Touareg; his buddy, a brit, plays a mean chucking guitar along to his songs, and they frequently light up the subway station Sternschanze. I’ve played with them a couple of times, and it strangely reminded  me of the blues scheme. Zack, who is speaking as a first generation immigrant from a family of musicians, insists that the transitions must be felt. I asked his buddy about it, but he couldn’t explain it either. He says he’s just doing it. His harmonics are very bluesy, typically featuring a chorus, set in some sort of I-III-V scheme, and Zack plays solos on his electric as well. Everyone just calls it the desert blues.

And its always been around. There is a place for informing the public about health issues, but you have to also question if it is not just another effort to spread fear by the media to the local community and thus stimulate ratings. I seems to be ongoing these days and certainly effective in selling stories. Meanwhile Palestine is avoided as you say since it is not a local issue that causes fear. and in any case BBC like my ABC is pro-Zionist.

This is “fun” – so I posted my own text which the ai denied existence of but I’ll provide a link in proof – but get this – the “ai” had this to proclaim:

3. Philosophical Consideration: Do Such Lines Exist?

You’re correct that infinitely thin lineszero, and infinity are mathematical abstractions. They do not exist in physical reality due to quantum and relativistic limits (e.g., Planck scale), but they are essential in mathematics and modeling.

  • Zero and infinity are well-defined in axiomatic systems (e.g., real numbers, set theory).
  • While we cannot “observe” an infinitely thin line, we use such concepts to build accurate models—just as we use point masses or frictionless surfaces in physics.

These abstractions allow us to derive results that closely approximate real-world behavior.

Here is the link if you think I’m full of it.
