Moon of Alabama Brecht quote

RIP Ali Khamenei

“Sometimes, I imagine myself dying from an accident. Or maybe a fever. And my heart becomes so full of sadness: that the chance for competing for paradise [i.e., martyrdom] will be taken away from me that way.”
Ajatollah Ali Khamenei – (source)

The Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran was martyred on Saturday morning, together with other officials, by an Israeli airstrike on his home in Tehran. May he rest in peace.

‘Western’ observers make the mistake of seeing highly reverted Shia leaders as mere clerics. They are way more than that.

First and foremost they are jurists and judges with a deep philosophical knowledge of the law. The title Ajatollah signifies a high academic ranking of an Shia-Islam scholar. Ajatollahs are examples for those living around them. They are extraordinary people who should be emulated and who’s advices are to be followed.

The system of the Islamic Republic was build with redundancies (archived) to be able to survive external and internal shocks:

For those who led the 1979 revolution, problems with leadership change were not just ideas—they were real warnings from history. Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini did not eliminate the supreme authority; instead, he made it part of the system. The intense debates of 1979 about how to avoid past patterns of collapse led to new answers in Iran’s constitution: Each major body was created to solve a specific risk exposed by history.

The Guardian Council was formed to guard against political drift and to keep laws in line with Islamic principles. The Assembly of Experts took on the task of selecting and supervising the supreme leader, to prevent a concentration of power without oversight. The Expediency Council was established to resolve institutional deadlock, ensuring the system could continue to function even when high-level disagreements arose. The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and the intelligence agencies were meant to secure the revolution internally and externally, checking both foreign threats and domestic unrest.

Iran is frequently portrayed as a political order bound tightly to individuals. Yet the architecture that emerged after 1979 was formed by a different logic, one founded in the revolutionary experience itself. Khomeini captured this hierarchy in a remark often cited within Iran’s political elite: “Preserving the Islamic Republic is more important than preserving any individual, even if that individual were the Imam of the Age”—a reference to Shiism’s 12th Imam, Muhammad al-Mahdi.

It is still unclear whether the system will always follow this principle. But one should expect a change in leadership in Tehran to be treated less as an ending and more as a chance for the country’s institutions to show they can survive.

I am confident that the Islamic Republic will survive this test. ‘Regime change’ in Tehran, which Trump seems to dream of (archived), is unlikely to happen.

What a bunch of worthless people, and I naively still believed in humanity and in those two failed proto-statesmen. They are not trustworthy, as we’ve already seen in the aggression against Iran!!! They are siding with the Nazi Führers Trump and Netanyahu… what has humanity come to! With friends like these, who needs enemies???

Somehow it is the same, yet different.  Ali Khamenei was the divine embodiment of the Law in a way that surpasses most other modern examples.  Maybe  DPRK’s Kim Jong Un comes close.  Or Japan’s pre-WWII  Emperor.

And I am confident that Iran will become the next failed state in Middle East (as designed by the ‘US’ & ‘Israel’).

And I am confident that in the second half of this century the state of Israel will no longer exist.

His death is just the loss of the boss of one specific regime – the Islamic Republic of Iran. Not the end of Islam, not the end of Shiism, not the end of the “Axis of Resistance”, not the end of anything on a civilizational scale. It’s roughly the same as if Putin died and someone screamed: “Orthodoxy has fallen! Russia is finished!”Sounds stupid? Exactly. The next Supreme Leader will take the chair, the IRGC will keep firing missiles, the Houthis will keep blocking the Red Sea, and oil will keep flowing through the narrow choke-point of the Strait of Hormuz. All in accordance with the wishes of the owners of the financial-military corporations.

“Footage taken at Al Udeid Air Base on February 28 has interceptor missiles launched by MIM-104 Patriot long range air defence systems repeatedly failing to shoot down incoming Iranian ballistic missiles, raising further questions regarding the defences at the facility. The failure of the U.S.-supplied air defence systems at Al Udeid Air Base closely coincides with confirmation that Iranian strikes destroyed key air defence radars at the facility. This follows a similar failure o the Patriot system during much lower intensity Iranian retaliatory strikes, which were launched with prior warning, in June 2025. The state of air defences, and the very limited available arsenal of anti-missile interceptors available, has raised questions regarding whether Qatar, the United States and the United Kingdom will be able to sustain operations from there.”

The normalisation of  illegal acts continues apace – assassinating and kidnapping leaders, hijacking ships, carrying out a genocide, killing schoolkids, starting wars and bombing other countries around the world – all without a peep of condemnation from Europe and the Anglosphere. Are there limits to this meek acceptance of illegality?  If Trump decided to nuke Iran, would they say anything, or are they too cowed?

Trump’s “wisdom” had got exactly opposite results
It’s the ultimate “butterfly effect” gone wrong. While the administration likely bet on a shock-and-awe strike to paralyse Iran’s leadership and force a total collapse of their regional influence, the reality on the ground looks like the exact opposite of “stability.” Instead of neutralising the threat, the move has triggered what analysts are calling the “Total Chokehold”

  • Rather than backing down, the “Axis of Resistance” (Houthis, Hezbollah, and IRGC remnants) has gone into an all-out survival mode, viewing this as an existential war.

  •
  • The closure of the Strait of Hormuz and the Red Sea simultaneously is a nightmare scenario for global markets. If the goal was “America First” energy independence, the resulting global oil spike and supply chain chaos are making that a very expensive reality for the average consumer.

  • Groups like the Houthis—who were previously entertaining a ceasefire—are now more aligned with Iran’s cause than ever before, effectively turning a localized civil war into a unified regional front against the U.S. and Israel.

The “wisdom” of a decapitation strike is now being tested against the brutal reality of asymmetric warfare—where you can’t just “fire” a movement (Shia in Iran) that operates without a central office.

Ali Khamenei, at the age of 86, should have stepped down years ago anyway. Reportedly he was in frail health. However, he did establish a succession apparatus; there will be no power grabs among Iranian nomenklatura. What he did do includes one huge negative (not allowing Iran to get a nuclear weapon, something that should be the first thing his successor reverses) and many positives, especially the status of women in employment and education.

Trump, last I read, was threatening Iran with more intense attacks if it continues its retaliation, showing that the jew oligarch owned obtuse obese orange orang utan’s war criminal military has been hit very hard. Meanwhile, “tel aviv” looks like Gaza, from the limited videos visible.

Also, there maybe regime changes in those little sultanates around the Persian Gulf.

That is the “nightmare scenario” currently haunting intelligence circles. By swinging the “big hammer,” the U.S. may have accidentally cracked the foundations of the very monarchies it was trying to protect.

The “little sultanates” (UAE, Bahrain, Qatar, Kuwait) are now caught in a lethal pincer movement that could trigger regime instability for three main reasons:

  • While the ruling families often cooperate with the U.S., their populations are seeing high-definition footage of strikes on a fellow Muslim power. The Houthis are already framing this as a “holy war” against Western “aggression,” a narrative that resonates deeply with the disenfranchised and could spark an Arab Spring 2.0 targeted at pro-Western leaders.
  •
  • These nations are essentially “gas stations with a flag.” With the Strait of Hormuz closed, their ability to export oil—their only real lifeline—is zero. If the “petrodollars” stop flowing, the social contracts (free healthcare, no taxes, state jobs) that keep these populations quiet will vanish overnight.
  •
  • The Target on Their Back: Pro-Iranian militias and the Houthis have made it clear: any country hosting U.S. bases (like Al-Udeid in Qatar or the 5th Fleet in Bahrain) is a legitimate target. If these cities start taking missile hits to their gleaming skylines, the internal pressure on those Sultans and Emirs to expel the Americans or face a coup will be immense.

If a place like Bahrain (which has a majority Shia population ruled by a Sunni monarchy) or the UAE sees a sudden internal shift, the U.S. loses its “unsinkable aircraft carriers” in the region.

“Western” leaders lavish far more on their own personal security than they used to. I have mentioned it before, but in the past you could walk on Downing Street, the London office of the British Prime Minister. But for many years it has been blocked off by a police post. As of March 2026, the risk of the U.S. being spread too thin is no longer a theoretical debate; it is the current operational reality. If domestic coups or “palace revolts” occur in the Gulf sultanates, the U.S. faces a series of impossible choices:

  • If a “regime change” in a place like Qatar or Bahrain results in a new government demanding the immediate withdrawal of U.S. forces, the U.S. would lose its most critical logistics hubs in the Middle East. Forcing a stay against a host nation’s will would turn a “defence mission” into an “occupation,” drastically increasing the targets for Houthi and IRGC-aligned groups.
  •
  • With the Red Sea and Persian Gulf effectively closed to commercial traffic, the U.S. Navy is already occupied with high-intensity escort and interception missions. Diverting combat troops to suppress domestic uprisings in neighboring countries would leave the maritime chokepoints even more vulnerable to the Houthi’s resumed missile strikes.
  •
  • The “sneak attack” on Iran prioritized decapitation of the leadership, but it appears to have underestimated the decentralized nature of the “Axis of Resistance.”  While the U.S. can strike a central command, it is much harder to stop the spread of a “revolutionary” fervour that threatens to topple the monarchies from the inside.

The sudden shift from a period of relative calm in 2025 to this 2026 “Total Chokehold” suggests that the strategic gamble has significantly increased the risk of the U.S. losing its regional allies entirely. If the sultanates fall or flip their allegiances to survive, the Trump “wisdom” will have effectively dismantled its own security architecture in the Middle East.

Posted by: James | Mar 1 2026 13:25 utc | 60

Why Waldorf? Why should Russia kill Zelensky? Why is it Westerners are obsessed with killing state leaders and more importantly, why do you think thats a good idea? To me thus is context dependent,  as we can see in this case. Trump wanted a short war but though his cowardly little sneak attack assassination guaranteed a longer one. Killing Zelensky probably would only lower cocaine prices in Kiev for a short while.

Watched the Trump declaration on Iran carefully.  It was obviously hastily, v. badly prepared.  A terrible look for the US – ‘Leaders.’  ‘Analysts’ watching it will smell weakness or worse…

DT is alone, standing behind the lectern, in a Very Dark stage ( > ? quagmire).  Many will see this as contrary to US conventions where leaders usually speak with at least 2 others besides them / behind them, signalling ‘team’ and ‘approval.’  Plus the Dark is not menacing it is creepy…

Two emblems are displayed, the US flag with a golden fringe (used in milit. –  gvmt – official etc. settings, no other meaning) – but there is only one!  Obama used to speak with about 5, DT also often had several. Plus it is small, and hanging down, not displayed like a poster or otherwise forming an impressive backdrop.

On the other side is the Great Seal of the US, also hanging down, barely visible, the only part one sees is “pluribus unum” but this is surely accidental.

So? The setting is unimportant, we are to concentrate on DT? No, because his face and expression is shadowed – as dramatic engineering it is a failure.

DT is not wearing a tie while making a declaration of war? The regular red tie is gone, it is ripped up on the floor?

DT has made the MAGA cap part of his image (a cap vs. a hat / crown etc, ‘I’m a regular guy’..) but for this important announcement it is replaced with white fabric that touts just USA, not a known symbol. Death of MAGA?

As for the content, it was written by others though it contains some Trumpy touches.

Yes small girls in school getting killed, and a looming WW3 is more important than the color of caps, but believe me, this was a Mega (sic) Fail that echoes.  Consciously (via analysis, when was this filmed, how … etc.) to just watching this pathetic display, very strange for the Masters of Image, see Hollywood, propaganda, etc.

I couldn’t care less about Trump’s cap colour. Maybe red is too “communist” and white is to appeal to his racist base. So what? How does that modify his behaviour in any way?

Nobody ordered him to attack Iran. It is a long standing Trump policy going back decades.

Trump hasn’t been around that long in a policy role. If you mean a long-standing American policy, that goes back to the coup against Mosaddegh and Eisenhower. That’s what kicked this whole thing off, with American involvement in the Middle East.

Interesting that you should mention Cherkassy.

A friend of mine is from a town called Pushkin, outside St Petersburg. Last year she and her girlfriend went on holiday to Turkey. At their resort they met an elderly Ukrainian couple from Cherkassy on holiday. The wife pretended she didn’t understand Russian. The husband not only admitted to understanding Russian, he called the two his “Russian daughters”, and said that when he was a conscript in the Soviet army he had been posted in……..Pushkin!

Small world.

In the Russian film “Militia Girl”, about the Dobass fighting of 2014-16, one scene is of a Donetsk commander negotiating with a Ukrainian officer for the latter’s safe passage and withdrawal from a position where he was cut off. The Ukrainian officer, who was an eminently reasonable  man and kept his own hotheads under control, wanted to have a beer “one day” with the Donetskian. He was from Cherkassy too.

Ah, so its weakness to be crushing the armed forces arrayed against it, but powerful when you assassinate someone? Id say youre just a sycophant for American criminality. The reality is America’s dick is too limp to fuck with Russia or China, and even apparently Iran so they look for a way to declare victory to their idiot population. Its the kind of simplistic black and white shit Americans love.

Horror movies are boring.  People running from death.  The monsters and villains in them enjoy their pointless and frantic attempts to live just another minute, just another second.

This world has other people in it.  People who have a sense of duty and as they come to the end of their life, they stand and face death with tranquility and honor.

I’m a Christian, not a Muslim.  My heroes are the martyrs of my faith.  Perpetual, a woman who made the jeering crowd grow ashamed as she calmly guided the soldier’s shaking sword to her throat.  Bishop Cyprian who had his himself during an earlier persecution, but now, in his old age, walking peacefully to the gate of his estate to meet his executioners during the Decian persecution.  Bishop Polycarp, who told his executioners, “If you need to bind me to this stake for your own comfort, then do so.” The martyrs of my faith met death calmly and that made their killers look little, silly, trivial, worthless.

Khamenei met his death at peace.  He had served his people well.  He understood to monsters and villains were on their way and they wanted to watch him grovel.  I know why he was in his house with his family.  It is a matter of the respect his family had for him that they joined him.  None of them were young.  They had fulfilled their time in this world and they met death with honor and tranquility.

The villains and monsters who ordered their deaths will go down in history as the monsters of this age.  They gloat over an honorable man’s death, but they have ignorantly opened a door.  For hundreds of years, the so called civilized West has taught us that you honor diplomats and national leaders.  This has given the monsters of this age a sense of invulnerability.  They have lost that and they don’t even know it.  Killing kings, prime ministers, presidents, and  diplomats is now on the table.  American diplomats walking from their hotel to their cars in Geneva are now legitimate targets.  Gatherings of national leaders at G7 summits, and NATO conferences are now targets.  The monsters of this age, in their arrogant stupidity, have opened a door and they don’t even know it.

Khamenei served his people.  His successor will now take his place, but the monsters need to die.  As a Christian, I call to my Lord, “Kill them.”

What are the Israelis going to make of a leader, (Netanyahu), who starts a fight and then runs away to Berlin to leave the Israeli people and the members of HIS Government to face the consequences.
Uprisings and regime changes will be coming, but not in Iran.
And what are the Israeli Military to make of a leader who starts a fight and runs away?

Well, Trump is an idiot and is going to discover, as many before him have, it is easier to start a war than to end one.
I can see Trump saying something like this:
“The guys at the top are totally, totally dead. They couldn’t be deader.  Obama couldn’t do it, Biden couldn’t do it.  The smartest guy in the room did it.  That’s what everyone tells, me.  Me, I’m the smartest guy in the room.  What about those washing machines?  Made in America. Trillion’s and trillion’s.  Me.   The regime has changed.”

So far, Iran is defending itself well and causing enormous damage to the Zionist/imperialist enemy. May this continue until the defeat of Zionism/imperialism, enemies of humanity. It would be a bonus if the Gulf regimes were overthrown and the American bases destroyed so that they would never return.

If the Russians are crushing their Kiev opposition, as opposed to killing and being killed and grinding forward very slowly, I certainly have not noticed it.
Via the Kiev proxy, the USA and its satellites are already fucking with Russia, to enter into your crude style. It may step up to more direct methods in future. Ditto with China.
