News & views related to the war in Iran …

Comments

I confess I have trouble understanding.

Why so many people put so much energy and time into analyzing the feasibility of what Trump says, knowing full well he’s a pathological liar, is beyond my comprehension.

When he says his generals didn’t anticipate the closure of the Strait of Hormuz, everyone knows that’s false.

When he says he wants a short war, while he’s done everything he can, with the assassinations of leaders and children, to make it difficult for the Iranians to accept, everyone knows he’s lying.

When he says he’s in negotiations and that they’re progressing well, while making deliberately extremist demands that have already been rejected, we know he’s lying.

When he says he received gifts from Iranian leaders while he was assassinating them one by one, anyone should know that’s a lie.

When he says he’s going to involve the Kurds, but announces it publicly, implying they’re destined for extermination, we know it’s all an act.

When he says he’s going to invade Iran with a few thousand soldiers, always far from the theater of operations, while thousands more hide among the civilians, it should also be obvious that it’s a blatant lie.

On the contrary, his generals should be studying the ways to get those men out the the middle west where they are being hunted like game.

Maybe all the rescue en route are just for that, an evacuation team for a large scale exodus.

So why all this calculation and speculation for such an unrealistic lie?

I agree. The US doesn’t have the capability to field a major military presence anymore. It was pretty bad during the Iraq and Afghanistan wars, but worse now. At the very tip of the spear are going to be a few Marine units and the Special Forces operators, beyond that the US doesn’t have much in the way of combat-ready troops. Their tooth to tail ratio is probably abysmal, maybe 15-20 percent of all US military personnel are actual combat troops.

This is called an old, brutal American Racket. Squeezing a cut from rivals and threatening them to kill all heads of the clan. There is no MAGA in it, what so ever, rather dumb conviction to take by force from anyone’s prosperity, pure greed of controlling all kinds of trades and markets. Many would agree on desperations to denominate entire worlds energy trade in USD. Some would ask question – what was main the obstacle in removing sanctions from Iran in order to achieve all those goals (mentioned), much easier, without spilling so much blood ? The answer is an American Racket – grabbing a substantial share of total volume trade, free of charge, while sticking gun to the head…

If the “elites” want universal destruction, there is a simple , well tested remedy.
Kill the elites.  Establish socialism.
Easier to reverse the Nazi Neocons than to reverse civilisation.

But in reality,  the reason why the elites want universal destruction is simply because their vast, oil-consuming disparity of wealth gives them no emotional satisfaction, because the udermenchen are not suffering.

Elites want their wealth to give them significant benefits , but 95% of their wealth is totally surplus to their needs.

The Western commentaries cannot understand what is actually happening in Iran.
Iran and RoW global south live well on minimum levels of income.
The elites are totally superfluous to humanity and MUST be killed in order to stop them embezzling wealth totally superfluous to their  needs.

You and your McCarthyist minds are incapable of conceiving of a world which is capable of supporting its population comfortably, because you are completely brain-washed into believing that you need “elites ” to manage things.

Fuck em off militarily if necessary, and let the planet and its normal inhabitants survive.
Capitalism must die, not people.

The AmericanEuropean mind is totally bizarre, if not bonkers- stark staring mad.

What if Israel was always seen as disposable by the Epstein Class?
Posted by: Seer | Mar 30 2026 5:48 utc | 332

Or the opposite. If US wants to make Israel much bigger, they will want to get rid of their puppets in the region. The puppets will never tell US to stop attacks on Iran from their territory because their leaders are simple proxies, and so they will slowly be destroyed by Iran then all their resources simply be taken by Israel + US. US can even make a deal with Iran and Yemen afterwards so they can extract all they want without attacks.
But since Camacho the scammer is the president and Tattoo Pete is running his wars, their only plan can be to take control of Hormuz and Iranian oil and move into Cuba. He is sure that by blocking access to resources eventually Xi will visit Alaska and surrender too. Speaking of Alaska, now the Russian government visits US ( tass.com/politics/2108479 ) to implement the spirits of Anchorage which are still kept classified for the peasants, while Xi is busy changing the order of texts on buildings to start with the Chinese language version. Xi is such a fearless warrior!!!

This is deeper than Trump and deeper than a project to expand Israel. We’ve got to first expose and then purge all “leaders” of all corrupt/captured important organizations. This mandatory project requires the detonation of a “thermo-nuclear truth bomb.” This war might give us this truth bomb. It wasn’t the democide of the Covid response or a portion of the Epstein files being released … it was one neocon war too far … against the wrong nation, Iran.

Whether the video is fake or not is not the main issue here, the actual strike on the aluminium (alumina) plant appears to be true. Plenty of reports even from Israelis sources. I think even when Photoshop was introduced years ago we have never seen an absolutely authentic image since in the media. The media everywhere hypes things up for effect. Can we believe anything from it with any certainty anymore? It’s becoming far more difficult.

At first I thought the plane image moving backwards could be an optical illusion, because: 1. the video maker is zooming in; 2. because when a plane is turning to the right the wing  can appear to be moving backwards relative to the ground. But I also see no banking of the aircraft (unless that is being overridden by the pilot with rudder control) and it still seems to be on the same angle relative to the coastline in the last frames as it was in the beginning.

Remember when the Suez Canal was blocked for years?

Speaking of analogies and historical comparisons.

Between 1979 and 1981, students held 52 Americans hostage at the US embassy in Tehran.

This episode traumatized Americans and strained relations between the two countries, to the point where it is still discussed today.

The entire political class and the public mobilized for the release of these hostages, and have done so ever since.

Today, in Middle Eastern countries, between 20,000 and 50,000 American soldiers are trapped.
Evacuated from American military bases, they have been targeted in hotels and other facilities where they have taken refuge.

These are generally specialists from the Navy, Air Force, and radar who were not evacuated because they were needed.

They are therefore not only American citizens but also highly valuable military assets.
And they are being hunted down by the Iranian army as legitimate targets because of the massacres of civilians and soldiers committed by their country.

But nobody talks about it, because it would require explaining how they ended up in this situation and, above all, how to get them out.

So we can count on Trump, his administration, and his military to create a diversion, and talk instead about taking Kharg Island or seizing the enriched uranium.

With your help, of course.

I know which one has looked more like Athens and which one has looked more like Sparta for a long time. Same with Ukraine/US and Russia.

I think this moment even went back to the middle of this last month.

The thing about the Peloponnesian war was that Sparta which was not renowned for its navy compared to Athens (and its Confederacy of Delos), is that it actually destroyed the latter’s navy weakening its power significantly. Corinth like Israel was also involved in causing trouble for Athens.

Yes, absolutely. Although I wouldn’t call this conviction ‘dumb’. Amoral and reprehensible, certainly, but not dumb.

My assessment is that the US model is zero-sum. It doesn’t do win-win. Instead, it throws its weight around and obtains much more. However, the limits of this system is that it breaks down when that all that brawn appears to diminish relatively to successfully emerging blocs. And while the US can’t do much about the physical realities of geography, it certainly can focus on mitigating the development of competitors. This includes obvious acts of global arson, as we are seeing today in West Asia.

The case of Europe deserves a thread of its own. It appears to be on a course of self destruction that can only end if it can recover full sovereignty. That is, narrative sovereignty, then political, economic and military.

Financial Oligarchy Marches Us To Nuclear War Lawrence Wilkerson: It’s almost as if, Glenn, there are people who want a global conflict. I hate to say that, but it looks like some financiers—the Rothschilds, the J.P. Morgans, the Medicis, those types—are fomenting it and won’t be satisfied until they get it. I think there will be very heavy, deep recriminations if they do, because this will not be fun for anyone. You won’t be able to go into the market, ride in and out, and make fortunes off this. At its most profound level, you’re looking at a nuclear exchange—then a large nuclear exchange. As Ronald Reagan came to realize in the latter part of his second term, we don’t want this, because it’s the end of the human race. That’s it. We’re walking down a very dangerous road right now. And what troubles me most is that, in my country—in the empire—we’re walking down it with fools. Absolute fools. And I don’t just mean one or two. I mean a whole horde of them—from Hegseth and his Christianity, to Trump and his grifting, to Gabbard and her lack of courage, to Bessent and his disdain for children dying. You name it.

Iran just announced it will target the homes of American and Israeli politicians and US military officials throughout the Middle East. “We will target the residences of American and Zionist regime commanders and political officials.” This is a direct threat to named individuals in named locations.

Targeting politicians and military officials was the first action taken by the US and Israel. How should we interpret the fact that Iran has waited an entire month to (threaten to) reciprocate?

…to robin @368

I do respect your point of view, robin, it has logic. Allow me to interpret mine… Normally I would try to avoid bringing subject of morality into argument. My personal perspective of existence is quite radical. I treat life as a survival. Don’t get me wrong I am quite well off for an average male. I do love Anthropology, History and to some degree Geopolitics along with good red wines. However morales are not my lenses of judgement. I’ll give you simple example – when you swear in high court to tell truth and only truth when you know that you are guilty of manslaughter – what do you get in return upon being honest ? You’ll get death as a sentence. If you tell lies – you’ll survive. My personal view is of that telling lies is your God given right from birth… In case you are unable to cheat and lie – you are not going to be able to pass you geens on to next generation – you’ll die prematurity from speaking only truth, sooner or later you’ll get killed, …this is the fact that can not be ignored. When a person gets it, morals disappear… And this is only for a start… There are many more examples in life where morals are temporary culture, sort of trendy jacket on survival’s body… I hope you get it.

Targeting politicians and military officials was the first action taken by the US and Israel. How should we interpret the fact that Iran has waited an entire month to (threaten to) reciprocate?
Posted by: robin | Mar 30 2026 8:12 utc | 370

Well when they make statements like this it is mostly (I think) to frighten them, force them to evacuate, and turn them into scared refugees. If they really wanted to kill those families they wouldn’t have warned them. It looks like the Iranian authorities actually have morals.

Again, you bring refreshing clarity.  Comparing the 1979-1980 US hostage situation in Tehran with the current thousands of evacuated US soldiers trapped in the Middle Eastern countries is an interesting angle, even if not directly comparable. But it highlights the fact that those trapped are not easily available for US hostile actions against Iran, but instead targets.

In a previous thread I speculated that Russia could provide Iran with S500s to shoot down the US satellites. That would degrade the US/Israel ability to strike Iran, and also to strike Russia (via the Ukraine proxy), while avoiding Russia responsibility. That seems highly desirable by both Iran and Russia, wonder why there are no news about something like that happening.

We are observing a Syracuse moment. Educated people will understand the meaning.

Apparently, I am insufficiently educated. But my limited education was sufficient to look it up

“The term “Syracuse moment” refers to a critical event during the Sicilian Expedition (415-413 BCE), where Athenian forces suffered a catastrophic defeat against Syracuse. This defeat is considered a pivotal turning point in the Peloponnesian War, leading to a significant decline in Athenian power and influence.”

I get the idea now, thanks.

Hezbollah elements fired an anti-armor missile that accurately hit a tank belonging to the 9th Battalion of the 401st Armored Brigade, which is operating in the western sector.

As a result of the hit, an Israeli army soldier was killed and another officer was seriously injured. During the evacuation of the injured, the militants continued to fire anti-armor missiles with the aim of targeting the rescue forces

@395,

That seems highly desirable by both Iran and Russia, wonder why there are no news about something like that happening.

Maybe because its not feasible in any way? How do you envision sending one of the most advanced Russian system to an active war zone?
How would Iran protect this critical system that is designed for specific targets as you pointed there (against satellites)? Do you think RU builds these systems like drones?
Do you think its that easy to send a system completely different from what Iran uses and work wonders?
Some people here really think that learning to operate these systems can be learned in a few days by just pressing the correct buttons on the systems.

By now, we should somehow don’t spend much time hearing, reading or repeating his claim. When was the last time it was not 100% bullshit?

Agreed. Scientific hypotheses can be “right”, “wrong” or “not even wrong”. There seems to be a category in geopolitics that mirrors the “not even wrong” category. Trump occupies that category 100% of the time.

Since becoming President again, Trumps utterances are have become further detached from reality. There is no point listening to what he says. In the current situation, Iran is 100% correct in how it deals with US aggression.

Baqaei (Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran): We have had no direct negotiations with the United States so far.
🔺Regarding the mediation by some countries and the exchange of messages concerning proposals and Iran’s response, Baqaei stated: “First of all, we have had no direct negotiations with the United States so far. What has taken place are messages we received through intermediaries regarding America’s desire to negotiate. When diplomacy is spoken of by the United States, everyone’s senses must be sharpened. I don’t know how many people in America take America’s claims of diplomacy seriously! Our position, unlike the other side which constantly changes its stance, is clear.”
🔺”Iran’s position has been clear from the beginning, and we know very well what our desired framework is. The matters conveyed to us have been excessive and unreasonable demands.”
🔺”The meetings that Pakistan is holding are within a framework that they themselves established, and we did not participate. It is good that countries in the region are concerned about ending the war, but they must be mindful of which side started the war.”

“Iran just announced it will target the homes of American and Israeli politicians and US military officials…”

Maybe the Iranians will now go after the US and ‘entity’ embassies in the region.

Just a few days ago (27/3) an area very close to the Pakistani embassy in Tehran was struck by missiles of the zionist entity.

Pakistan was trying to facilitate a dialogue between Iran and the US.

This was seen as a direct threat by the Pakistani government.

“Israel must remember, Pakistan is no Qatar. We will beat hell out of them if any harm occurred to our diplomats, anywhere in the world”, read the statement by Pakistan Strategic Forum.

This is just another rung on the ladder of escalation. Remember that the zionists have already set a precedent by attacking the Iranian consulate in Damascus back in April 2024.

Iran Destroys Palmachim — Israel’s Secret Space Facility Hidden From the World Israel is facing a new shock after reports that Iran struck Palmachim, one of the country’s most secretive military installations. Palmachim is not just an airbase — it is also the launch site for Israeli spy satellites, missile tests, and advanced space programs kept largely hidden from public view. Iran previously claimed it had targeted Palmachim during earlier missile and drone waves, but this latest strike appears far larger and more destructive. According to reports, the attack may have damaged key launch infrastructure, underground facilities, and missile defense systems linked to Israel’s Arrow interceptor network. Palmachim is considered one of Israel’s most important strategic sites because it supports both military operations and the country’s space program. It is used for launching surveillance satellites and testing long-range missile systems, making it a major symbol of Israel’s technological edge. If the damage is confirmed, this could mark one of the most serious blows to Israeli military infrastructure in the entire conflict. The strike would also raise fears that Iran is now deliberately targeting the hidden facilities Israel depends on most.

From Tass
Thousands joined No Kings protests against the Trump administration across the United States. The organizers are planning to hold demonstrations in more than 3,000 locations nationwide. While most protests will take place in the United States, rallies are also expected in Mexico, Ecuador, Australia, Kenya, Iceland, Britain, Ireland, Portugal, Italy, France, Austria, Greece, the Netherlands, Sweden, and Spain, according to the official No Kings website.
Organizers told CNN reporters in an interview that more than half of all protests are taking place in Texas, Ohio, Florida, Idaho, Wyoming, Utah, and other deeply Republican states. Demonstrators have been venting their frustration with Trump and his endless and costly wars. In addition, protesters march against the Trump administration’s restrictive immigration policies and actions by US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

Message of Grand Ayatollah Sayyid Mujtaba Husayni Khamenei, the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution, on the Martyrdom of Rear Admiral Alireza Tangsiri

In the Name of God, the Compassionate, the Merciful

And do not think of those who have been killed in the way of God as dead. Rather, they are alive, provided with sustenance from their Lord. (Quran 3:169)

🔹 The proud and courageous commander of the Naval Force of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, Rear Admiral Alireza Tangsiri, was adorned with the rank of martyrdom after years of struggle. The martyrdom of this brave son of Tangestan, this soldier of Iran and guardian of Islam during the epic of the third imposed war, is considered a great source of honor for the courageous people of Bushehr, the youth of the southern region, the armed forces of the Islamic Republic, and the nation of Iran—who have always been the protectors of Iran’s independence and maritime borders, especially the Persian Gulf—so that they may continue the path of Iran’s naval authority and resistance with greater strength and steadfastness than before, God willing.

🔹 I offer my congratulations and condolences on the martyrdom of this valiant commander to his esteemed family, his comrades, and the commanders of the Naval Force and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, and I beseech Almighty God for the highest ranks for this martyr.

Fundamentally, the Islamic Republic of Iran has never sought nuclear weapons, nor does it.
Our clear position is the prohibition of all weapons of mass destruction, and this is due to the destructive approach of the International Atomic Energy Agency and certain countries.

I get the impression all the American ex-Military/Intel professionals are taken aback by the mess American and thus Western foreign policy is in.  When it comes to rationality, that  seems to have been thrown out of the window, together with any lingering pretence that we’re the good guys.

On that last, Merz, for instance, saying that Israel’s doing our dirty work for us – that’s not something even Merkel would have said.  It was an American cliché a few years back that the crazies have got out of the basement.  These lunatics are now walking around in broad daylight throughout the West.  Wilkerson tries to make sense of it but maybe there’s no longer any sense to it.

“This is really really, really stupid.  I can’t say it any better than that”, says Colonel Wilkerson at one point.  I note the number of views for that Diesen video.  For the Judge’s videos also and quite a few others.   So there are at least some watching as  the lunatics go about their business.    For all the good watching it does.

Stop the silliness about Rothchilds or whatever.  This is the power that put Trump in the White House. This is the lady who bought and paid for him.  About a quarter billion dollars for Trump and Republicans – and Trump makes a joke about her loyalty to Israel above all else.
I don’t always agree with Bernie Sanders but he told the truth when he said that the US is governed by legalized bribery in the form of campaign contributions.
The latest idiocy is sending in the Marines to run through Iran and grab their uranium.  Since no idea is too stupid, I must speculate that some thousands of Marines/Airborne troops need to die as a sacrifice in Iran – deliberately, to pump up public support for full scale war.  They’re stuck and need that reaction to rally the US public.

“By keeping the Lincoln and Tripoli strike groups 1,100km away in the Arabian Sea, the US has effectively neutralised its own primary tool for invasion: Amphibious Assault. Landing craft and helicopters from the USS Tripoli cannot ferry Marines over a 1,100km distance without being intercepted or running out of fuel. If these ships move closer to the 850km Iranian coastline to launch a landing, they enter the “kill zone” of Iran’s coastal missile batteries, which have already damaged US AWACS and tankers this month.”
I will start by saying Trump is an idiot.
Helicopters could easily be staged through someplace much closer to the Straits to deliver Marines.  The kill zone of the Iran’s costal batteries are much shorter than 850km.  As to the AWACS they are not as important as they used to be.  The US has been in the process of retiring them in favor of… well, that is a good question.  Maybe some of  the 200+ satellites of StarShield have taken up some of the slack?
Did Australian Wedge Tail’s actually get deployed to the Gulf?  I did see they sent a half dozen or so Hawkeyes with better radars than the older AWACS.

But for what? Their only option is Kursk, random kill some civilians and make news for Bbc and Cnn. If they blow up the island so what? It’s just some pipes. US can also claim they’ve stolen all uranium and all Martian lasers. Not only that no one can verify, but Iran would be happy to say “yes yes!!! Camacho took our uranium, we must increase the tax on ships now to buy electricity”

In addition, Trump needs a larger war to find more or less legal ways to cancel elections which are his biggest problem now. No matter how much he pleases Israel, there’s always someone else who can do more so elections are very bad for him. His only option is to create the first royal family using his private army, ICE, and private puppets like Elon and Zucky for surveillance and banks + pharma for punishment. You can’t protest much when your accounts are frozen and you can’t buy your pills, can you?
