U.S. – Israel Ready To Strike At Iran

U.S. President Donald Trump has managed to maneuver himself into a position that makes a long war on Iran all but inevitable.

About two days ago I was still betting on Trump to chicken out of a war with Iran. The military buildup in the Middle East was insufficient but for a short in-out air campaign on Iran with no discernible value.

But over the last days the U.S. military has sent many more air refueling tankers, dozens of more fighter planes and – most importantly – command and control elements to the Middle East. The force is sufficient for a large air campaign that could be sustained for at least two weeks. An additional carrier strike force has entered the Mediterranean and will be positioned west of Israel by the end of the week. A second carrier strike group is deployed in the Arabian Sea.

Deploying such a large force is extremely costly. Pressure will increase quickly to use it or to stand down.

The last negotiations between The U.S. and Iran went well but ended without any results. Iran promised to come back in maybe two week with a detailed plan on how to proceed:

“We were able to reach a general agreement on a set of guiding principles, based on which we will proceed from now on, and move toward drafting a potential agreement,” Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi told state TV after talks with US Special Envoy Steve Witkoff in Geneva.

The two sides will each draft and exchange texts for a deal before setting a date for a third round of talks, he said, cautioning that the next stage would be “more difficult and detailed.”

Two weeks is a long time and the military clock is now ticking faster than the diplomatic one.

The U.S. military is reported to have told Trump that it will be ready to strike by this weekend:

Top national security officials have told President Trump the military is ready for potential strikes on Iran as soon as Saturday, but the timeline for any action is likely to extend beyond this weekend, sources familiar with the discussions told CBS News.

Mr. Trump has not yet made a final decision about whether to strike, said the officials, who spoke under condition of anonymity to discuss sensitive national matters.

With the forces deployed and ready to strike Trump is no longer in a position to avoid a war if Israel wants one. If Netanyahoo were to strike Iran the U.S. would immediately have to intervene to lower the consequences of Iran’s inevitable retaliation.

The deployment of refueling tankers in the Middle East points to the necessity for the U.S. to avoid stationing planes within the reach of Iran’s short range missile forces. Fighters and bombers will have launch from further away, tank up, run their turn on Iran, tank up again and land to reload. The number of sorties that can generated by this will be only half of what a ‘normal’ air campaign would look like.

Any attack will likely start with the firing of one or two hundred cruise missiles. They will be followed by stealth bombers which will try to destroy Iranian air defenses. After that is more or less achieved, waves of strike planes will launch missiles from safe distances to strike at Iranian military and civilian command elements as well as infrastructure in Iran.

Iran will retaliate with waves of drones and older missiles. The aim will be to exhaust U.S. missile defenses. During last years 12-day war it took Iran about eight days to achieve that. Thereafter it used newer missiles which were able to hit their targets in Israel will unexpected precision.

Iran will also use its shorter range missiles to destroy any U.S. element, be it on ground, air or sea, that is within its reach. Irregular forces aligned with Iran in Lebanon, Iraq and Yemen may join the campaign.

Iran is expected to be be helped by Chinese and Russian intelligence. During the war in Ukraine the U.S. established the norm that the supply of intelligence to one party of a war is insufficient to make oneself a combatant. Chinese satellite intelligence will allow Iran to have at all times a clear picture of its enemies disposals.

Iran however is undoubtedly the underdog in this fight. It can not win a war against a country that is several thousand miles away from its shores. The damage a sustained U.S. air campaign will cause will be real and very painful. The real threat is not a one off campaign but a constant deterioration of the Iranian state should the U.S. decide to wage a long campaign of attrition against it as it did against Iraq between the two Gulf wars.

The only way to prevent that is for Iran to use the economic power that comes with its control of the Strait of Hormuz. A blockade of the Strait would raise global oil prices to the north of $100 per barrel. With energy prices going through the roof, and the collateral economic damage cause by it, the chance of the Republicans winning the midterms will go down to nil.

It is doubtful though that Trump still cares about that.

Time has come. The criminally stupid, incompetent neocons have bumbled from one catastrophic disaster to another.  The only reason they have until now remained unscathed politically is that the US power advantage has been so one-sided it can absorb the loss and move on. Their victims literally run in the millions, but the price US people have had to pay in terms of direct impact on their lives has been low enough to gloss over. But this time will be different. You can say the chickens will have finally come home to roost. A classic case of Hubris — life out of balance.  Hubris meet Nemesis.

I agree with some posters here, Iran should strike preemptively to avoid severe destructions of its AD and command centres before being able to retaliate. Sinking one of the carriers in the preemptive strike would be a good start.
By the way, I’m not optimistic about China and Russia support to avoid the consequences of a first strike from the US and Israel.

I get the impression that Trump is trying to bluff Iran into yielding on sufficient issues to make Trump look like he has won something.
He is all about appearances.
Unfortunately, it is entirely possible that he will be obliged to follow through on his “bluff” – so the point is a fine one.
This administration only respects strength.
This creates the possibility that Trump is in position to be very humiliated and at what would be bad timing for internal politics.

For me, not so much that I am eager, simply that it is probably the only way we don’t all end up in some horrible technocratic totalitarian dystopia, worse than the version we have now.

Plus, if our species, and I mean all of us including 15 or so generations that created this current mess, is so fucking stupid as to allow use of nukes again, we DESERVE it. TPTB that are possibly going to end all life on the planet were allowed to get to this point by OUR inaction.

Personally, I do not believe that nuclear weapons will be used if there is indeed a Zionist/American war against Iran. The risk is enormous for those who use them first, as they will be subject to retaliation in kind. And certainly a huge international outcry. Nor does it seem clear to me that it will be an easy task to bring Iran to its knees. Iran’s response capacity remains strong and proved effective in the 12-day war.

I am on record that if America can’t pull off a massive move in the first 48, they will be unlikely to do so later. An Iranian retaliation may not be survivable for the colonizers and their Arab satraps.

If America pulls off something significant, then it may be over for Iran. If they do not, then it may be all over for Israel, and I think that may lead to a broader Western collapse.

@86 Saint Jimmy

As Col. Lang used to say: “Analysis does not equal advocacy.”

Many posters can not help but notice that, if we were all Iran, it would be very hard to keep weathering these blows from the entity and then shortly after revert to fooling ourselves that the hard part is over.

Here is the entity again threatening and wanting it their way.

The idea we could glean here is that everytime Iran is on the threshold of economic, technological, or regional breakthrough, the entity swoops in to destroy progress, assassinate a few high-powered Iranians, and to overall humiliate Persia.

Now, let’s say the Iranians realize this but have understood that weathering these blows is acceptable granted they are able to emerge successfully with whatever decade-long plan they have envisioned would be needed to establish on the playground as a regional power who need not suffer such humiliation any longer.

It would be foolish to assume that the entity had not already calculated this possibility and is aware that Iran is indeed on this path.

Thus, we arrive at a defining moment or critical mass of such a scenario.

It is thus perfectly reasonable for us dissidents then to cheer on the preemptive first strike and Sinking of a carrier group knowing the entity’s flailing situation.

And for us westerners, this is not sedition. Sedition would be to encourage our military to engage the Iranians which we have understood to be the point at which the collective nations in the west betray their own people and interests.

Just like it is not “anti-semitic” to rail against Jewish Supremacy. The Enlightenment thinkers broke ground for us and railed against Catholic supremacy. In my mind, there is little difference between what type of supremacy rules us, but it is imperative that we do not resort to backing down from this threat against an emerging western consciousness that wants to restore itself from the entity’s rule.

That should not inspire confidence. If Venezuela was betrayed from the inside, as I suspect they were, then Cuba and Iran have major economic issues which make them equally as vulnerable. You can arrest the insufficiently enthusiastic, as Iran has, but that’s not going to solve the structural issues.

As for the fantasy of violent slapping, the US can hit a lot harder than Iran. The only people saying otherwise are the fools who think America has bombs only for a week’s worth of bombing. Russia and China aren’t going to defend Iran any more than they defended Syria and Venezuela. China especially- if they become the obvious new focus for the neocons, the West will rapidly shift to the Trump strategy of treating China like a hostile competitor at the behest of “donors” among the oligarchy.

It’s always been my fear that war with Iran was inevitable. In fact, in the first days of the 12-day war, if you all remember, there was a lot of debate about whether Trump had been informed beforehand of Israel’s plan to strike Iran. One slip of the tongue by Steve Bannon at the time has stuck with me; he said that it wasn’t supposed to happen for another year!
Anyway.
That aside. I’d like to ask you guys at the bar what will happen to Trump’s Board of Peace if the US gets involved in a war with Iran? And beyond that, should Hamas not lay down their arms, will the US/ Israel still be able to make them ‘pay a heavy price’?

Iran is already going through a ‘regime change’ as you put it. It has been in the works for the past 4 yearas at least and is continuing. The problem we have in the West is that none of this is reported.
Trump’s face-saving win could still be that Iranians simply retire Khamenei and give the electorate the right to select Presidentiatl candidates, as well as the President him/her-self, both of which have been openly discussed in Iran for years. If Iranian media is to be believed, then the US and Iran have already openly discussed options as to who will follow and what the power structure will look like. Remember when Trump said that Pahlavi did not have the support of the people? He understands. And it is being touted that Rouhani will become the spiritual leader – the man with the power. This would make sense. Ahmedinejad is not palatable for the UK/US, Rouhani is.
Obviously other issues relating to nuclear and ballistic etc are in play as well.

“Jews will have to learn that Zionists are their enemies.”
Couldn’t agree more. The same goes for Evangelical Zionists. If Israel were to use nukes and if there is direct blowback on the USA & allies, the likelihood of pogroms is a possibility, starting with the Christians in the USA, because the Jews will initially be protected by the government. If Muslim immigrant “sleeper cells” exist, they will awaken and the bloodshed will begin. And once it begins…
If I were Jewish, I’d make it quite plain to my neighbors that I oppose Zionism, Chabad and Jewish moneyed interests.

  3. whatever happens after/during us/israel first strike should hit qatar, ksa, etc , us bases. It would also signal us allies  could latter be hit on their own assets
  4. then it’s the naval part, hit something in the carrier groups, but not the carriers right away, once again the message is “it will get worse”
  5. then a reverse naval blocade, houtis free to join, sink right away some carefully chosen tankers and declaring oil free area from suez to diego garcia , not only no iranian oil, no arabic oil either

Then what happens next is an escalation ladder, iran forcing the west to spend AD, if something hit seriously then one carrier sunk, if nukes used… everything must go (including oild fields in the area)

Don’t know who’d want to play this game without a discombobulator….

As I see it, the big question is not how long Iran can survive an extended war but how long Israel can. We know that Israel suffered significant damage in the 12 day war in June 2025 and that it begged the U.S. to end the hostilities. Israel is a much smaller country than Iran both in geographic size and population. Hence, its ability to withstand weeks of attacks is very limited. I also believe that the Iranian people are more willing to endure suffering than are Israelis. Iranians demonstrated that fact in the Iran-Iraq war of the 1980s. Israelis, in contrast, has never been put to the test.

China and Russia are finished if Iran falls.  Think a dozen Chechnyan wars breaking out in southern Russia and Xinjiang.  Think Isis flooding in through the Caucasus and down the wakan corridor.

I agree with this assessment.  It is not clear how the upcoming war will go.  It is pretty clear there WILL be one, with a possibility of it being in a week or two rather than this weekend.  A US victory over Iran would be a huge victory, giving them the momentum to reign supreme over BRICS and the east.  The Mossad / CIA / MI6 assets that Israel / US / UK have throughout the world could very well be what wins for the Epstein Class.

Some info. The Strait of Hormuz is 39 km at the narrowest part and claimed jointly within the maritime borders both by Iran and Oman. Now the interesting part. The deep ends of the strait are with Iran. The VLCC which carries 2 million barrels can only traverse through here and must go closer to the Iranian shoreline. The Omani shoreline is the shallow end and can allow only LCC which are 1 million barrels or less. Iran holds the cards.
In the meantime the current navy is a sitting duck. The admirals know that. Reality check.

Military capability is not the same as strategic advantage.

Posted by: hole in head | Feb 19 2026 19:32 utc | 162

The US will most likely first try to secure the hormuz since a closing of that will cause crude prices to treble or even quadruple. And Iran won’t have to do much but release a warning to the tanker industry that vessels attempting to leave the gulf loaded will be sunk and just like that not an insurance cover to be had since even a war cover will be enough. So it’s either an aerial attack on well protected firing positions on the Iranian side or the jews might try to land their special forces to deal with the firing positions – to no avail. To hit a loaded ulcc (2mbbls) trying to sneak out holding close to the arab-side of the strait will be like shooting ducks with a 15.5 cm artillery piece. So crucial to the blackmailed trump is the hormuz and the US/western world economy. Bombing a country of 85 million people. And 1.6 million sqkm to submission won’t be done – gullible fools in the white house. Nukes from the jews – sure maybe but they will be finished after that and maybe the US will offer them a few tentcitys or trailer camps to adjust their life in or at!

A very interesting point about the 12-day war that is often missed is Iran’s insistence that no one step in to support. It stated openly that it didn’t want any help. It’s purpose was  not just to make the Iran – Israel fight a one on one, but also to ensure Israel suffer the humiliation of having to rely on others. And that’s exactly what happened.
Should a war erupt this time, the strategy will not be the same, I am certain.

Posted by: Artem | Feb 19 2026 19:33 utc | 165

Trump’s face-saving win could still be that Iranians simply retire Khamenei and give the electorate the right to select Presidentiatl candidates, as well as the President him/her-self, both of which have been openly discussed in Iran for years. If Iranian media is to be believed, then the US and Iran have already openly discussed options as to who will follow and what the power structure will look like.

Well, there you are. That would be a lethal setback for Israel, likely to the point they would undertake a unilateral strike. Adelson gave $100 million to President Trump, but then again Qatar gave him a jet and crypto “investment.” So we will see.

I’m fine with that. I’m old and almost no one I’m close to has much to lose. ***

Spit out at a query on the internet –  Recent data estimates the Iranian population in the U.S. at 568,564 to 619,991 individuals

Now most of these are going to be people who left (or fled) Iran because they oppose the current Government. I have met a few and they are totally anti-Iran as it is now.

But, how many are pro-Iran? How many are willing to die for it?

If several thousand decided to hurt the USA from inside, there are many ways to do some serious damage. Especially to the barely holding together already power grid. Imagine USA attacks Iran and then sub-stations and long-transit power line towers start being attacked. Or water and waste plants being smashed. Rail lines sabotaged. Bridges attacked.

It would force the USA to go full martial law just to try to contain it. Life would suck even more for the people. It might kick off some serious social chaos/rebellion/civil war as people fight over their needs. The US people have little understanding of how to ‘do without’ and so would likely go mental.

Interesting times ahead.

Sorry Iran you have to take the fight. You have seen that this time there are just sacrifices to be done iran will not go back anymore. This is a strong position for demands , these will inflict confusion in the offenders camp and imply iran is sitting with the joker and confidence of there superiority. Iran remember the recent war with iraq lost a lot of man, how are most prepared for war ? Usa that have not meet any military in the same level? The best would be if iran strike first ,its not nice but ok usrael have showed they have no moral. There are no future for iran if they not fight against the oppressor and china and russia has choosen iran as it’s proxy against  usrael. But everything can fall apart because the chabad are controlling even iran ,russia and china. remember covid? wy did all enemies follow the vaccinations? Although this influenca  was less sewer like a normal and i could see the danger already 2020 of the vaccins wy couldn’t experts? And now i can read that i was right.

No 166.
full closing of the strait some 25 to 30 million bbls per day. That’s why blackmailed trump is more or less compelled to keep the strait open and given the time the Iranians have spent fortifying the Iranian side of the strait including the various minor islands, the US is in for a hard hard nut to crack. And bombing 85 million Iranians on 1,6 million sqkm into submission not possible. Particularly since they gate the aggressor and the jews.

“Where was this equipment when US attacked Iran the last time?”

That question’s been answered dozens of times since last June–Iran refused to accept the help offered and learned its lesson. Also, most of the damage done to Iran was caused by drones launched inside or very near Iran. Iranian airspace was never penetrated by Zionist jets. The US jets were allowed to enter to perform their Kabuki.

In a way, Iran is in a similar place as Russia was in Feb/22 – constant threats & military buildup at its doorstep. Why wait ’til the Tomahawks fly or the B2’s are airborne? Might as well launch its own SMO (surely Putin & company could appreciate that)

Posted by: xLemming | Feb 19 2026 19:48 utc | 176

Iran is in an impossible situation; if it doesn’t attack preemptively, it will be demolished not only by the US and Israel, but certainly also by the Sunni states of the rest of the Middle East. If it attacks preemptively, and, say, a Bastion or two or something like that ‘takes out’ an aircraft carrier (which is perfectly possible), the US, based on the principle of ‘might is right,’ will simply launch an ICBM against Tehran. And the Western world will applaud. There are ‘win-win situations’ and ‘lose-lose situations,’ which is exactly what Iran has found itself in since 1979. The West has a long memory, even longer than the Chinese.

Posted by: Mauro Rossini | Feb 19 2026 19:55 utc | 177

Another fun thing is that Iran share the world’s biggest natural gas field with Qatar sitting in the middle of the gulf and it would be an easy target for iran to take the qatari part of the field if qatar has agreed to let the US use it’s qatari bases in an attack on Iran. Poverty strikes unexpectedly where you least expect.

ROFLMAO. The US is sending literally everything they can deploy against Iran and the outcome is not just uncertain but can easily go very badly if the 12 day war was any indicator. Just prosecuting this little war will seriously deplete U.S. already stretched weapons stockpiles that can’t readily be replenished. Even if we had the means to build more they’d need Chinese-controlled rare earths to do so.
Russia has the largest, best equipped battle-tested military and China has the largest overall by far. Both have fielded weapons our military hasn’t even successfully tested. Neither country is interested or equipped to come to our side of the pond, but they’re more than capable of dealing with anything we can send their way.
Oh, and NATO is damned near combat-incapable so shouldn’t even be mentioned.

Not necessarily.
Russian & Chinese intel should assure that US and Israel can’t surprise them. Since they’ll know the moment a Tomahawk leaves it’s tube or a stealth aircraft enters their airspace they can launch everything they have on the surface immediately and then wait safely deep underground until the first wave is done to launch yet another round of missiles and drones. If they launch any hypersonics, they’ll like score hits before the first US or Israeli stuff even arrives.
They’ve been building & stockpiling deep underground for decades and this time around they’ll be incentivized to use most of it.

Occupied Palestine is very much like an island and must import most goods to exist. The most critical element is drinking water which is produced by desalination plants–targets Iran refrained from hitting last June primarily because Palestinians also depend on that water. Iran has promised Total War this time meaning those plants will be targeted. All ports and air supply points will also be targeted far more intensely. Will the Knesset be targeted? West Bank apartheid control points allowing Palestinians to rise? Zionist military in Syria and Lebanon? In other words, just how Total will the Total War be. And as I wrote in my initial comment, what about the many bases in Jordan? And perhaps as far as Cyprus. What about US assets in Baghdad’s Green Zone and those elements it uses to control Iraq?

Iran’s Total War won’t be aimed only at the Zionists but at their enablers too. Some of the Gulf Monarchies understand that and have tried to verbally raise their arms and plead neutrality. Yes, the stakes are very high. Rubio’s words wil tell you why.

Posted by: Caveman | Feb 19 2026 15:57 utc | 2

Because he was SElected as President of the United States of America. Contrary to some fools’ foolish notions (I’m talking to @c1ue and others here), the plan was always to go to war on Iran if Trump got a 2nd term. It was delayed by 4 years and the majority of a genocide during the previous sufferer of dementia or white matter disease, but as I noted here at MoA numerous times in the past, starting with the assassination of Gen. Soleimani who was acting as a diplomat at the time of his murder by Trump 1.0.

Oh, the fools blamed Bolton and the Pimpeous one, but this was set in stone from the moment the Khazarian Mafia owned Donald J. Trump. One wonders whether the previously mentioned fool(s) will eat crow once it happens again (the US already tried to provoke Iran into a kinetic war in June of last year) and this time “for real.” I suppose the fools’ refrain will be “but no boots on the ground!” (which will also be a lie, even though it won’t be a full bore land invasion) or maybe they’ll just a) admit they were wrong and eat crow or b) just finally shut the fuck up about their Democrat Derangement Syndrome and/or  c) continue their delusional lies as Trump (micro) D*ck Sucker cultists.

“No New Wars” lol. Might as well have campaigned on “No Jew Wars” because both are equivalent lies. #MIGA – Make Isn’tReal Go Away (for good, one hopes) and finalize the bankrupting of the American People on behalf of the western oligarch kleptocrat class, which nearly completely overlaps the Zionist class in a standard Venn diagram.

The distinction between tactical and strategic success hinges on time horizon and scope: tactical success evaluates whether an operation achieves its immediate, concrete objectives—such as toppling a leader or securing a resource—with efficiency and low direct cost, while strategic success asks whether that achievement genuinely advances long-term national interests, regional stability, or geopolitical position over years or decades. Operation Ajax in 1953 exemplifies this divide perfectly: the CIA-led coup tactically succeeded by swiftly removing Prime Minister Mohammad Mossadegh, restoring the Shah’s authority, and restructuring Iran’s oil industry to favor Western companies, all with minimal American exposure. Yet strategically, it proved disastrous, as the imposed authoritarian monarchy and visible foreign meddling bred profound resentment that fueled widespread discontent, culminating in the 1979 Islamic Revolution, the overthrow of a key U.S. ally, the emergence of a fiercely anti-American regime, and decades of regional hostility that continue to complicate American foreign policy today.
