U.S.-Iran – A War Of Aggressions Which Aims Can Not Be Achieved

Yesterday the Omani Foreign Minister Badr Albusaidi, the mediator in talks between the U.S. and Iran, revealed that Iran had offered unprecedented restrictions of its nuclear program to prevent a war.

During a CBS interview he explained:

MINISTER ALBUSAIDI: I am confident, and in my assessment of the way the talks are going, I think there is, really I can see that the peace deal is within our reach.

MARGARET BRENNAN: A peace deal?

MINISTER ALBUSAIDI: Yes, is within our reach, if we just allow diplomacy the space it needs to get there. Because I don’t think any alternative to diplomacy is going to solve this problem.

MINISTER ALBUSAIDI: The single most important achievement, I believe, is the agreement that Iran will never, ever have a nuclear material that will create a bomb. This is, I think, a big achievement. This is something that is not in the old deal that was negotiated during President Obama’s time. This is something completely new. It really makes the enrichment argument less relevant, because now we are talking about zero stockpiling. And that is very, very important, because if you cannot stockpile material that is enriched then there is no way you can actually create a bomb, whether you enrich or don’t enrich. And I think this is really something that has been missed a lot by the media, and I want to clarify that from the standpoint of a mediator.

MARGARET BRENNAN: So explain that. So the enriched material, things that could be used as nuclear fuel for a bomb, you’re saying Iran would not keep on their own soil?

MINISTER ALBUSAIDI: They would give it up.

To give up stockpiling enriched material of various grades is a concession that Iran has never before made. It would indeed make it impossible for it to create a nuclear bomb.

The U.S. however was not interested in a nuclear deal. Hours after Albusadi’s interview it joined Israel in a “pre-emptive” war on Iran.

jeremy scahill @jeremyscahill – 7:18 UTC · Feb 28, 2026

The term “preemptive” is pure propaganda. The U.S. once again used the veneer of negotiations as a cover to bomb Iran. Tehran had just offered terms that went far beyond the 2015 nuclear deal. What was preempted was diplomacy. The same propaganda tactics used in 2003 Iraq war.

Badral Abusaidi was left to expressed his disappointment:

Badr Albusaidi – بدر البوسعيدي @badralbusaidi – 12:04 UTC · Feb 28, 2026

I am dismayed. Active and serious negotiations have yet again been undermined. Neither the interests of the United States nor the cause of global peace are well served by this. And I pray for the innocents who will suffer. I urge the United States not to get sucked in further. This is not your war.

U.S. President Trump thought differently. In an 8 minutes long speech (vid) he announced several war aims like the destruction of Iran’s missiles, the destruction of its navy and to prevent the country from acquiring nuclear weapons it does not want. He called on the armed forces of Iran to lay down their weapons and for its people to overthrow its government.

For the Islamic Republic the war is thereby not about mere defense – but existential.

As none of Trump’s strategic objectives is likely to be achieved one might already argue that the U.S. has little chance but to lose this war.

So far the exchange of strikes has run along its predictable course.

The U.S. and Israel launched stand-off cruise-missiles against political and military targets in Iran. The compound of the Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei in Tehran, the Ministry of Intelligence, the Ministry of Defense, the Iranian Atomic Energy Agency, the Parchin military complex were hit. Iran’s leadership had moved to safe places and was not affected by the strikes. A missile destroyed the house of the former president Mahmoud Ahmedinejad, who has no role in the current government, and killed three of his guards. Several missiles, says Iran, have hit an elementary school in Minab, south Iran, and killed up to 60 children.

Iran responded by attacking U.S. military installations in Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates with hundreds of drones and shorter range missiles. A long range U.S. radar in Qatar was hit as were U.S. Navy fuel depots in Bahrain. Several salvos of tens of medium range missiles were fired against U.S positions in Jordan as well as against Israel.

These first salvos with older, less accurate missiles are intended to draw out U.S. air-defenses and to entice them to expend their limited missiles supplies. There have been reports of several explosions in various places in the Middle East but it is too early to assess if these are the consequences of falling debris or real intended results.

One target hit by the U.S. side was the headquarter of the Hashid Shaabi popular mobilization forces in Iraq. It killed several people. Following that Hashid Shaabi announced to join the fight on Iran’s side. Missiles have hit U.S. positions in Erbil, Iraqi Kurdistan.

The Houthi in Yemen as well as Hizbullah in Lebanon are expected to also join in the fight.

The exchange of missile strikes is expected to continue over several days. the U.S. will try to eliminate Iranian missile launchers and production facilities. Iran will try to exhaust U.S. missile defenses to then launch its more precise and effective missiles against Israel and major U.S. (naval) targets. Iran already claims to have hit a U.S. supply ship.

But Iran’s main instrument in this war will be its control over the transport of 20% of the world’s oil supplies.

It has just announced the closure of the Strait of Hormuz.

Michael A. Horowitz @michaelh992 – 15:30 UTC · Feb 28, 2026

#Breaking an official with the EU naval mission Aspides says vessels have been receiving transmission from Iran’s revolutionary guards saying no ship is allowed to pass the strait of Hormuz

Iran can control the Straits by simply firing land-based anti ship missiles.

By Monday fuel prices will have gone through the roof.

Oil prices are the major pressure point Iran has to cause effects within the U.S.

One wonders how long President Trump can sustain the war if the price of gasoline goes up and stays high.

🇺🇸🇮🇱🇮🇷⚡- The U.S. Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) tracked Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei for several months and gained detailed insight into his locations and behavioral patterns.

The US and Israel initially planned to launch the attack at night. However, the CIA discovered that Khamenei and other senior Iranian leaders were expected to meet on Saturday morning and shared this intelligence with Israel, prompting the decision to time the start of the operation accordingly.

The killing of the Supreme Leader was another successful decapitation Strike by the US. After the  Marder of General Souleimani and the decapitation Strike in the 12 days war last June, Iran was warned  and still was not able to protect Khamenei. That‘s a shame. I did not expect that would be possible. There Must be still Mossad and CIA all over the Place in Iran.  Now Trump and Western Media can triumphantly celebrate victory, proclaiming they can kill everyone they want to. A Major blow to Iran despite their retaliation strikes.

Posted by: Lesjeuxsontfaits | Mar 1 2026 7:20 utc | 912

I think it is telling that the US and Israel were apparently able not only to know more about Khamenei than he knew, but were apparently able to dump many large bombs on his site like throwing stones in a pond, without there being any warning or interference.  I think that says a lot about Iran’s supposedly upgraded defenses and intel;  I think it says a lot more about China and Russia’s ‘help’, which turns out to be ineffective at best.  I think it is pretty clear, though, at this point that Russia and Chins have been on board with the Hegemon all along, junior partners I suppose.

Or…

“Iran war needed to distract the rubes from Epstein.”

Imagine actually believing that Iran and Iranians are just some dogs who are going to take the abuse lime a whipping boy?

Do TPTB truly think this about Iran? That they can just kill a few high valley targets every year? Foment a color revolution every few years to terrorize the decent people there?

This is not about Epstein. But yes exigencies with the western financial world demand the hold-outs in the Axis to come over to the Rules-Based, Elite-Extraction Order.

So in a manner of speaking, Iran is the ticket because Russia and China will then be that much more isolated. The west can continue to bleed with more time once Iran falls.

And why wouldn’t the dems/libs in the west want Iran to be toppled. Western financial imperium butters their bread, too.

So if it’s Existential for Iran, isn’t it Existential for the west, too?

On escalation–It appears Iran has planned their attack sequencing and targeting very carefully. I expect that to continue. There’re a vast multitude of targets to be taken out, with many requiring multiple hits. When the AD is depleted to a certain point, Iran will unleash its drone swarms at key targets in the West Bank and around Gaza. I also expect Hezbollah to soon become involved, while the Iraqi resistance will move to oust the Americans from Iraq. It will be the coordinated Big Push that wasn’t ready last June now with the added dimension of jihad. Trump and his Gang have no clue what they’ve unleashed.

Obviously tarmac is very hard to destroy, but buildings, fuel and missile/ammunition stockpiles are usually primary targets in a base.

If fuel and ammo can be destroyed, the base becomes de-facto useless for launching sorties. This could contribute to US relocating its large amount of fighters and aerial tankers to Jordan and Israeli airbases, which can then become over stacked and target rich environment for hypersonic missiles to hit planes on the ground.

On the nuke issue, one side of the debate has overemphasized the impregnability of a nation once nukes have been acquired.

Nukes are extremely powerful, but they still share vulnerabilities with many other weapon systems. People are still the ones who have to turn the keys, dial in the codes and launch the nukes, and organizations are vulnerable to being infiltrated and compromised. Nukes and their delivery systems also require constant upkeep to remain a credible threat. Even dead man’s switches are not absolute guarantees of MAD.

Despite having nukes, Russia and the DPRK are still being attacked by America, although one could argue that the intensity is lesser. Americans are smartly (or so Americans think) using non-nuclear-armed nations as proxies to bypass MAD, as the ongoing Ukrainian conflict aptly demonstrates. These proxies can degrade a nuclear-armed state’s nuclear weapon delivery systems/nuclear triad, as can be seen with America’s attack on Russia’s nuclear triad on June 1, 2025, which was blamed on the Ukrainians. Americans can also attack the people with the authority to order nuclear attacks, like the Americans attacking Putin at his residence in Novgorod on December 29, 2025, which was blamed on the Ukrainians.

The nuclear-armed DPRK is not spared either.

Amid Kim Jong-un’s high-level nuclear talks with President Trump in 2019, covert American operatives were ostensibly (as reported by the New York Times) sent to “plant an electronic device that would let the United States intercept the communications of North Korea’s reclusive leader, Kim Jong-un” to “provide the United States with a stream of valuable intelligence”. Interestingly, for a recon mission, the military chose “SEAL Team 6’s Red Squadron — the same unit that killed Osama bin Laden”.

NYT’s goal is to bring down Trump, not bring down America altogether, so their reporting must be read from that perspective. Were there details omitted by NYT or simply just not made known to them? As we have seen with examples of Trump’s diplomatic engagement with Iranian leaders (Soleimani and Khamenei), Trump only negotiates to lull his enemies into a false sense of security and to make it easy for Trump’s team to predict the assassination target’s movements so as to improve the chances of success for the assassination attempts. This is pure speculation on my part, but I think Trump wants to set up some time-delayed assassination device that can target Kim Jong-un.

Nukes are not necessarily the trump card that many think they are, as ample examples demonstrate. But they do have a purpose.

In the hands of nations being oppressed by America, nukes represent determination, but more importantly it represents a clarity of vision. If you acquire nukes, you are clearly broadcasting to the world that you are willing to muster all your resources (science, engineering, industrial power etc) to maintain sovereignty, which is synonymous with being anti-America. You don’t necessarily have to broadcast that intent by possessing nukes, although that does help immensely.

I bring up the nuke issue because Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, who issued a fatwa against nukes, was martyred recently in an attack by American forces.

steven t johnson, Ahenobarbus, Princess Bodica (or whatever new username they’re going by now) and the rest of the MAGA barflies are undoubtedly celebrating the death of an Iranian leader, as Iranian leaders are the ones who have distilled and popularized the essence of geopolitics for modern states desiring sovereignty into a single phrase—“Death to America”—a phrase that Americans take great offense in. Americans recoil from the phrase because it is truthful, and truth is anathema to Americans.

In honor of Khamenei:
Death to America

Posted by: unimperator | Mar 1 2026 7:41 utc | 972  <- I was just trying to be honest here. Is there damage? Sure. Am I glad there is damage? Yes. But is the base “completely destroyed?” … no.

I hate this damn code. Iran isn’t under Russian nuclear umbrella, only its CSTO allies are. Also, no one is giving Iran nukes. Iran may still proliferate, but they will have to do so on their own.

(IDF has imposed strict censorship on reports and images of all targeted locations)

Today (Day 1), Iran has launched around 200 ballistic missiles on Israeli territory, including hitting a number of settlements in the West Bank.

I bring up the nuke issue because Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, who issued a fatwa against nukes, was martyred recently in an attack by American forces.
Posted by: All Under Heaven | Mar 1 2026 7:43 utc | 976

Nukes represent an anchor point which a nation can use to enforce the limits on what they’ll allow an enemy to do, what time-frame they’ll be allowed to do it in, what means they’ll be allowed to use.

They don’t prevent a nation from being attacked. They reduce the enemy’s options in the attack and slow down the attack timeline, thereby providing room for a nation to defend itself.

There are still imbeciles out there who fail to see this simple fact.
They confuse possession of nukes with the intent or obligation to use them.
They fail to understand the value of having a powerful reference point against which all dimensions of conflict can be gauged, tested and incrementally ratcheted up or down against.

These are the type of morons who’ve never experienced what it’s like to go up against an enemy who wants you dead and doesn’t care what means he needs to do to achieve that.

The Putin speech from around 2018. The three envoys meeting in Jerusalem and the Russian envoy feeling the need to state publicly in the presser afterwards that Iran is indeed an Alli of Russia.

Russia and China worked hard and in good faith to prevent nuclear proliferation. Putin personally put a lot of work into the Iran nuke deal. That was all blown to the winds when Trump 1.0 pulled out of the nuke deal.
Iran is now very much under the Russian nuke umbrella. As Putin stated, any nuclear strike on an ally, no matter how big or small will be considered a nuclear strike on Russia with all the consequences a strike on Russia will bring.

I suspect that was conditional on Iran fighting a defensive war. When a fight is inevitable, it is best to strike first, but the Iranians waited till the Americans and the Jews struck. Now they can launch hell on the Americans and Jews and stay under the Russian nuke umbrella because they are fighting a defensive war.

🇵🇰 🇺🇸 American Marine forces stationed at the Karachi Consulate have committed a heinous massacre, opening direct fire on Pakistani civilians gathered outside the gates. Reports confirm that at least 8 young men have been martyred and over 20 others wounded, with American Delta Force and Marine snipers positioned on the roof specifically targeting the heads of protestors.

The blood of our youth is currently being spilled on the streets of Karachi. Eyewitnesses confirm that the ‘American pigs’ initiated the slaughter while the crowd was still outside the perimeter, debunking any claims of ‘defending sovereign soil.’ It was only after this cowardly opening of fire that the enraged protestors stormed the building in a natural response to such blatant murder.

Urgent calls are being issued for all available ambulances to reach the coordinates (24.840847, 67.009134) immediately. Our brothers are dying in the streets at the hands of foreign occupiers. This aggression marks a dark day for our sovereignty and an unforgivable escalation by the forces of American arrogance on Pakistani soil.

I saw a map of ship tracking data earlier. Plenty in the gulf. Absolutely none transiting the strait. China is the worlds largest importer of oil and is a friendly nation to Iran and unfazed by Empire.

Makes sense the Iranian would simply close it to the Americans. I would assume the same goes for all the US vassals.

Feel US will achieve the primary aim of controlling Iranian oil when it is all over. The way things are going for the dollar like to think it will happen like Exile and others pointed out. But having studied Revelation 18, Babylon is taken out in its prime and not in a weakened state economically. Foreign traders and shippers will understand perfectly the lamentation from verse 15 onwards.

From what I can tell:

1. Traffic volume through the strait has dropped significantly.
2. Some ships are being selectively allowed through. This is giving some people the impression the strait hasn’t been shut down. They fail to realise Iran has implemented a selective method.
