Well, reposting it here as it is fresh

Back to normal range AFU casualties 1.450, but the year will close near 500.000 while 2024 closed near 600.000

in a way it should be expected, less soldiers holding the line, plenty of  faster conquests (less time for getting killed)

The Belarussian version of Venezuela’s Machado.

“Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya was hailed by Western governments and media as the savior and rightful leader of Belarus. But leaked emails reveal her increasingly unpopular campaign for power in Minsk nearly collapsed under the weight of corruption scandals and infighting.
When Belarusian opposition figure Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya declared herself “President” of an alternative government in 2020, she was enthusiastically embraced – and showered with funding – by the Western governments which yearned to depose the longtime leader of her country, Alexander Lukashenko, and remove Russia’s closest regional ally from the geopolitical chessboard. The New York Times set the tone by lionizing Tsikhanouskaya as a modern-day Joan of Arc.
However, a wave of public scandals have prompted Tsikhanouskaya’s foreign sponsors to gradually abandon her unpopular crusade to topple the government of Lukashenko. In August, it was revealed she had secretly taken thousands of euros from Minsk’s KGB in August 2020, a payoff for publicly pleading with protesters to stop their action in the streets, before she fled the country. Tsikhanouskaya had kept this agreement a closely guarded secret until it was exposed, and has attempted to evade it ever since.
Leaked documents and emails obtained by The Grayzone reveal that Tsikhanouskaya’s once-vaunted Belarusian “government in exile” nearly collapsed under the weight of corruption, fantastical ambition, gross incompetence, and infighting.”

The vast majority, 83 percent, of respondents to a Mediana survey say next year’s parliamentary election in Hungary could face interference from foreign intelligence agencies.

How does a political organization identify that which is done in secret and prevent its influence? Keeping the ability to capture governments by clandestine means is what the EU/UK are fighting over in Ukraine, I have come to believe.

The price of sanctions: Volkswagen shuts down Dresden plant as German industry reels
Volkswagen plans to halt production of vehicles at its Dresden plant on Tuesday, marking the first time in the company’s history that a Germany-based factory has been shuttered.
With an installed capacity to build up to 37,500 cars a year, and the flagship of VW’s EV lineup, the Dresden plant’s closure comes against the backdrop of Germany’s broader deindustrialization, which started in 2022 when Berlin rejected the Russian energy supplies propping up its manufacturing base.
FT blames the closure on poor demand in Europe, weak sales in China, and 15% US tariffs on European vehicle imports.
Volkswagen announced plans to “transform” the Dresden factory into an “innovation campus” earlier this month as part of a “Future Volkswagen” program, which includes plans to reduce Germany-wide vehicle output by 730k units by 2028, and slash 35k jobs “in a socially responsible manner.”
German industrial leaders and Russian President Vladimir Putin warned about the consequences of cutting Europe off from Russian gas almost four years ago, with Putin saying the “suicidal” decision would undermine Europe’s global economic competitiveness.

Very true – the Neo-Nazi regimes flag should not be flying over anywhere but Ukraine.

“PRAGUE SHOCK. The new Speaker of the Czech Parliament, Tomio Okamura, has ordered the Ukrainian flag to be removed from the Parliament building, stating that the decision fulfills a clear election promise. According to @tomio_cz , the Czech Parliament “is not a billboard for foreign wars” and must represent Czech state sovereignty — not external conflicts. He added that the flag will not be raised again while he holds the post. The move marks a sharp break with the previous government’s policy and has already triggered outrage from pro-Ukraine media and politicians — while supporters praise it as a return to neutrality and national dignity. This is not a symbolic detail. This is a signal — domestically and internationally”

The Carnegie think tank declared last month that “Armenia’s Election Is a Foreign Affair” in their piece urging de facto meddling in support of Pashinyan. The planned AI data center is expected to play a role in this as was explained. Keeping him in power isn’t just about solidifying the US’ new sphere of influence at Russia’s expense, which will be costly for Armenia since Russia is its top trade partner, but enabling the US to transform this facility into a regional AI-assisted spy hub as part of a new Eurasian power play.

Blackrock, another Dual-Citizen enterprise, where the Israel Firsters, also carry the Get-Out-of-Jail Free card (US citizenship), when their murderous plan fails.
Printed US dollars (FRNs) fund certain U.S. Banks and “Hedge Funds” like BlackRock to reap private profit using Public resources – like the U.S. Military and the U.S. (controlled) Financial System and Tokens.
You know their promises, tokens and fiat money are worthless when they need U.S. Military power to seize the property of others to use as collateral for their fake world.
Ukraine? Set up by internal Nazis, CIA, MI6 to be stripped bare for Western collateral. But Russia says no. U.S. Debt heading to $40 Trillion, then $50 Trillion by Nero Trump.

And they still do not take into account the COUP.

Any peace plan to end the war in Ukraine must take into account the COUP.

IN 2014 THE UNITED STATES CONDUCTED A COUP IN UKRAINE.

In 2014 the United States (aligned with a faction in the Ukrainian government) conducted a coup in Kiev (to replace the democratically elected Yanukovich government which was considered insufficiently pro-Europe).

Many in Eastern Ukraine rebelled against this coup-government.

A civil war began.

The coup-government claimed authority over all of Ukraine

and called itself “the Ukrainian government”.

The coup-government sent in the military to deal with the eastern rebels.

The media claimed, and still claims, that the U.S. backed coup-government had a “right” to all of Ukraine and they champion (vigorously support) a march to the Russian border.

WHAT IF THE RUSSIANS HAD CONDUCTED THE COUP IN 2014?

Imagine that in 2014 Russia (aligned with a faction in the Ukrainian government) conducted a coup in Kiev (to replace the Yanukovich government which many considered too pro-Europe).

Many in Western Ukraine rebelled against this coup-government.

A civil war began.

The coup-government claimed authority over all of Ukraine

and called itself “the Ukrainian government”.

The coup-government called in the Russian military to deal with the western rebels.

Of course, to be consistent, the media would have to claim that the Russian backed coup-government had a “right” to all of Ukraine and that they championed a march of the Russian military to the Polish border.

The important point is that statements such as “coup-Ukraine will not give up any of its land,” and “Zelenski Rejects Giving Land” make no sense.

This is because the coup-government, and its successors, never established authority over all of Ukraine.

WHAT IF THE CHINESE HAD CONDUCTED THE COUP IN 2014?

What if the Chinese (aligned with a leftist/communist faction in the Ukrainian government) had conducted a coup in Kiev. Would this give them authority over all of Ukraine?

What is the legal situation?

A few notes on the 2014 Coup in Ukraine.

About a month before the coup the US Under/Deputy Secretary of State, Victoria Nuland, was taped telling US Ambassador to Ukraine, Geoffrey Pyatt, why she wanted Arseniy Yatsenyuk to be the prime minister of the upcoming coup-government, rather than the boxer Vitali Klitschko who was apparently the favorite for the position.

The Russians released the tape to the internet. Some thought this would stop the coup going ahead.

However, the coup went ahead, Nuland’s order was carried out, and Yatsenyuk got the job of prime minister.

Klitschko got the job of mayor of Kiev.

Everyone in sight (except possibly Tyahnybok) was a Jew but you are not allowed to call it a Jew coup.

You are allowed to call it a Nazi coup though.

All this led directly to the 2014 coup-Ukraine vs rebel-Ukraine civil war,

which led to the 2022 coup-Ukraine-NATO vs rebel-Ukraine-Russia war.

Krainer explaining the the fortifications along the old LoC:-

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RZ09ve8gDwI&t=18s

(Linked to by adski1977 on Andrei Martyanov’s site)

One of the many factors that led Putin to give the go-ahead to the SMO.  Also an example of the gap between how the Russians see this war and how we in the West see it.  While most in the West believed the Russians should not have started the SMO at all, the debate in Russia was often about why it had not been started earlier.

I took Krainer’s key point from the transcript  My brackets and bolding:-

“This isn’t about (Russian) pride or imperial ambition. It’s about (Russian) survival.”
“The West built what military strategists call a fortress belt across Ukraine, a sophisticated network of NATO grade fortifications, command centers, intelligence hubs, and weapons depots that stretch from Kharkiv to Odessa.
“These aren’t just defensive positions. They were designed as launch platforms for offensive operations deep into Russian territory. Moscow watched this infrastructure being assembled for years, even as Western diplomats promised NATO expansion was off the table. Now, Russia faces an existential calculation: sign a ceasefire that leaves this fortress intact or eliminate the threat permanently.
” From Moscow’s perspective, any peace deal that preserves Ukraine’s offensive capabilities simply gives the West time to rearm, regroup, and restart the conflict on more favorable terms.
“They’ve seen this movie before in Minsk (1), Minsk 2, and every other broken agreement over the past decade. That’s why Russia’s actual war aims have nothing to do with the fantasies you hear in mainstream coverage. They’re methodically destroying the infrastructure that made Ukraine a forward operating base against them.”

“Until that mission is complete, peace talks are just theatre.”

In the 80s, while the UK suffered under Thatcher and the USSR under Gorbachev, we in the US had Reagan, a B-list movie actor turned frontman for the Empire Striking Back against FDR reforms.
Part of the plan was to privatize Social Security, the pension plan Americans depended on and loved.   Back then, it was called the Third Rail of politics, meaning it was so popular that it couldn’t be touched.
The first thing they did was to announce that there were too many Baby Boomers, and they had to prepay their retirement with a trust fund, which was established by doubling FICA withdrawals.   Then they started pushing 401Ks,  in which every worker was told that if they tithed money to the hedge funds for 40 years, they would retire as millionaires, not needing any stinkin’ public pension.
Blackrock was established in 1988 as part of the program.  There are Americans today who have been putting part of their wages into Blackrock, or Vanguard, for 40 years.
The US government set up a system punishing workers for taking their money out “early” by forcing them to pay a tax penalty on it.
So every year Blackrock keeps the money of millions of workers and uses it as they want, for up to 40 years,  with severe penalty for any uppity worker who falls into hard times and needs that money immediately.
But it’s “their money”, you see.  That is it is sold to them, even if they know they can’t touch it for decades.
And if Blackrock makes money from buying up houses and jacking up rents?   It’s all good, because when you are 65, you will be a millionaire off those rents.
Same with Ukraine.  Blackrock supporting land clearing of the peasants, in order to buy the land cheap?    Cha ching.   That money will surely trickle down some day.

It is the same method in every country. Control the political/legal process by bribing and extorting Politicians.
Then control the wealth/wages of the ill-informed Working Class. Front-Run, purchase cash producing assets. When you get into Financial Trouble have your controlled Central Bank print money – send the bill to the Working  Poor via inflation.
AND jack up the rents -land, services, fees, apps.
Nice Con Game.

The headline Reads:

Erdogan Warns Against Black Sea Becoming Zone For ‘Score-Settling’ After Strikes
This would benefit neither Russia nor Ukraine,” he told reporters aboard the presidential plane, according to the official Anadolu news agency

Of course, if you are member of the English-Uppermost-Class or, just a sociopathic minion of the English-Uppermost-Class, you could care less who is hurt so long as somebody is hurt in a place distant from your manor home or…tony townhouse and the other numerous luxurious enclaves frequented by family and friends.

Outside of the obvious, that both the attacks on Russian shipping and the majority of the funds/supplies/arms used by ex-ukrainia to kill Russians arrive by the the BSC/Odessa Erdogan’s plea for a ceasefire makes him seem reasonable until you notice that Turkey…really the Ottomans, make a lot of their money by facilitating the fratracide of their former European slave-states.  Calling for a Black Sea Ceasefire, as Erdogan does, facilitates the continuation of the slaughter as does Russia’s reluctance to do the obvious, cut off the interloper’s supply line to ex-ukrainia.

Again, the two big winners in this war are China and the re-emerging-Ottoman-Empire.  Strange how easily eastern Europeans forget how it was, how the Ottomans who enslaved them for centuries and now facilitate their mutual slaughter but yet remember keenly the forty years the Soviets spent rebuilding their respective countries.  While keeping eastern-Europeans free or, freeing themselves from Ottoman’s fetters cost hundreds of thousands lives, the Russians granted freedom without a shot, yet it is the Russian they fear.  What kind of an education produced this perception is very curious.

  • 🇬🇧🏴‍☠️👉🇷🇺 Reports from the Russian radio station UVB-76, also known as the Doomsday Radio Station, have begun to raise concerns in the West, the British tabloid Express writes.

“The Russian “Doomsday Radio Station” has sent up to 15 mysterious messages in the last week, raising fears of a possible third world war,” the publication states.

The newspaper drew attention to the words “perechnytsa”, “pereanem”, “pabodoll”, “spinobaz”, “frigoria”, “opalny”, “snopevy”, and “muonosvod” ( “перечница”, “перенаем”, “пабодолл”, “спинобаз”, “фригория”, “опальный”, “сноповый” и “мюоносвод” – encrypted words that are incomprehensible to anyone, even Russians) that were heard on UVB-76.The tabloid suggests that the frequency of the radio station’s transmission of codes usually increases during global crises, which this week “raised fears of a larger-scale war”.

Yes but…such endeavors are far more practical once the fortifications supply line is completely cut off leaving it’s defenders starving, freezing, without fuel, ammunition and/or…hope.

I’m currently reading the tome of WWII’s greatest General.  Gen. Zhukov was obsessed with supply lines, both his and his enemy’s.  Creating breakthroughs, feigning massive reinforcements and then using maneuver to encircle reacting forces all to cut off their supply line..good stuff.  While I have affection for some of the Generals and Admirals of US forces, Stalin only feared one General during the war and that was Zhukov.

IMO the big thing to watch is Lyman (and to some extent Seversk).

Lyman falling will put RUAF very close to controlling the Kharkov-Slavyansk highway. That is the only real/viable route going into Slavyansk, with Pokrovsk and villages left of it falling.

Since Zeleblob indicated they are going to stay and defend Slavyansk and Kramatorsk, they will be cut off and be buried there at Russia’s convenience, as they can get no more reinforcement or supplies through Dnepropetrovsk/Pavlograd or from Kharkov.

🇺🇦🇺🇸🇪🇺 “Don’t expect anything” – Peace negotiations are underway between the Ukrainian delegation led by Zelensky and Trump’s representatives in Berlin.➖ “Don’t expect anything {from the negotiations}”, – Ukrainian MP Mariana Bezuglaia disappoints Ukrainians.▪️On one side of the table sit Ukrainians and Europeans [who are represented by Merz for the first hour], on the other – Americans.➖ “We won’t be surprised if Russians will be sitting at the next meetings with Americans”, – Ukrainian analysts complain.▪️Merz left the negotiations between Witkoff and Kushner with Zelensky after a brief greeting. The Chancellor’s assistant Günter Zautter remains as a moderator, writes Die Welt.▪️A number of analysts express the opinion that the negotiations can hardly change anything, including due to Zelensky’s position that he will not withdraw the Armed Forces of Ukraine from Donbass.‼️🇺🇦Zelensky warned Ukrainian citizens about imminent “compromises” and the unattainability of NATO membership▪️Zelensky stated that he has not received an official response from the USA to his new proposals for a peace plan yet.➖”I haven’t received a response from the USA yet. I’ve heard a few messages through the negotiating team, but I’m open to dialogue,” he said, sounding disappointed at the Bankova.▪️According to him, the plan will not satisfy everyone — it will require many compromises:”The most important thing is that the plan should be as fair as possible, first and foremost for Ukraine. The main thing is that it should be effective,” added Zelensky▪️The issue of Ukraine’s membership in NATO remains unrealistic, so a “compromise” in the form of bilateral security guarantees is being considered:”Ukraine’s main desire was to join NATO. These would have been real security guarantees, but our European partners and the USA did not support them.Today, bilateral guarantees between Ukraine and the USA, as well as guarantees from the EU and other countries, are an opportunity to prevent Russia from attacking again. The situation with Kupyansk, which the Armed Forces of Ukraine decided to hold at the expense of their most prepared and equipped units, may soon confront Syrytsky with a difficult choice.

For Russia, the events in Kupyansk came as a surprise, largely an unpleasant one, but for the Armed Forces of Ukraine, this situation could have much more serious consequences. The resources of the two sides here are disproportionate, as it is much more difficult for Ukraine to simultaneously hold the city and continue the battles around it than for Russia.

The Armed Forces of Ukraine will maintain their activity in Kupyansk and its vicinity for some time. They will reinforce their reserves and try to withstand the pressure. But Russia has more of these reserves. And this will eventually become a decisive factor.

To hold a long stretch of the front in Kupyansk, an area of about 75 square kilometers, Syrytsky had to withdraw about two brigades from the Sumy region, two more from Chernihiv, reserves from Poltava and Chernivtsi, as well as some from near Zaporizhia. It’s quite possible that Russia will have to respond with its own reinforcements, but the rationality of such efforts on the part of the Armed Forces of Ukraine is still unclear.

The military logic is clear – if the territories behind Kupyansk are liberated by Russia quickly enough, the Russian army will have the opportunity to advance further towards Chuhuiv and Kharkiv, and the Ukrainian side cannot allow this to happen.

UKRAINE’S DRONE WAR BACKFIRES As Russian FPV Units Rack Massive Losses & Moscow Rewards Heroes

Russian Defence Minister Andrei Belousov presented state awards to servicemen involved in the special military operation, highlighting the role of FPV drone units credited with destroying Ukrainian tanks and vehicles. Moscow has increasingly emphasized unmanned warfare, with officials discussing the expansion of dedicated Unmanned Systems Forces and drone-based logistics. Russian airborne and artillery units involved in operations in the Kursk region were also decorated. The moves underline Russia’s focus on modernising its forces as fighting with Ukrainian troops continues.

Western officials are concerned by the secrecy surrounding meetings between Ukrainian negotiators and the FBI, the Washington Post reported on Saturday, citing sources.
Kiev’s lead negotiator, Rustem Umerov, has visited the US three times in recent weeks to meet with President Donald Trump’s top envoy, Steve Witkoff, and also held closed-door talks with FBI Director Kash Patel and Deputy Director Dan Bongino.
Several unnamed Western officials said the meetings could be aimed at speeding up Kiev’s acceptance of Trump’s peace roadmap. Leaked versions require Ukraine to abandon its NATO ambitions, drop its territorial claims, and cap its army at 600,000 – terms which Kiev and its European backers believe favor Russia.
Ukraine’s ambassador to the US, Olga Stefanishina, confirmed the FBI meetings, but declined to provide details. Sources say the secrecy “has caused alarm” among those not privy to the talks over their true purpose.

Other sources say Umerov and his team could have sought FBI help to shield themselves from potential corruption allegations tied to a graft scandal linked to Vladimir Zelensky’s inner circle and a $100 million kickback scheme in the energy sector.

Its okay to be anti-Russia, but not anti-Nato the latter can get you sent to prison for a very long time.

An Estonian court has handed lengthy prison sentences to the leaders of an anti-NATO party convicted of working on behalf of Russia to undermine national security.
On Thursday, the Harju District Court sentenced Aivo Peterson, co-founder of the small conservative Koos party, to 14 years in prison for treason. His associates, Dmitri Rootsi and Andrei Andronov, received sentences of 11 years and 11 years and six months, respectively. All three denied any wrongdoing and said they would appeal the verdict.
Prosecutors alleged that the defendants spread “narratives supporting Russia’s foreign and security policy” intended to undermine public trust in NATO and Estonia’s military aid to Ukraine.
“The defendants deliberately assisted Russia in activities directed against the Estonian state and society,” State Prosecutor Triinu Olev-Aas said.
Founded in 2022, Koos calls for Estonia to leave NATO, become a neutral state, remove foreign troops from its territory, and “refrain from participating directly or indirectly in military conflicts between other countries.”

In 2023, Peterson traveled to Russia’s Donetsk People’s Republic, which Estonia considers occupied Ukrainian territory. He said at the time he was gathering information about the Russia-Ukraine conflict.
“There are two sides to every conflict, but the information we receive from Estonian media is one-sided. All of our journalists support Kiev, which often comes across as propaganda,” Peterson said.
The Koos party rejected the allegations against its members, arguing that the prosecutors failed to present “concrete proof that their actions had caused real damage to Estonia’s

Will the EU even be making viable cars in 2035?

The EU has walked back plans for an effective phase-out of internal combustion engines by 2035, senior MEP Manfred Weber has told the media. Brussels is reportedly expected to announce the decision next week.
The bloc had originally agreed on a fleet-wide target to cut CO₂ emissions from new cars and vans by 100% by 2035 compared to 2021 levels, but the requirement is now expected to be lowered, Bild reported on Friday.
Weber, the head of the center-right European People’s Party, told the outlet that “from 2035 onwards, a 90% reduction in CO₂ emissions will now be mandatory for automakers’ fleet targets.”
The regulation mandating steep CO₂ emissions cuts for new vehicles, adopted in March 2023, has drawn criticism from major EU automakers, including Mercedes-Benz and BMW.

Last month, Reuters reported that German Chancellor Friedrich Merz had written to European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, calling for greater flexibility. “Large parts of the automotive industry in Europe, including in Germany… are in an extremely difficult economic situation, which is why we must correct the framework conditions in Europe as quickly as possible so that this industry has a future in Europe,” he was quoted as saying.

Doesn’t matter. Volkswagen, Mercedes, BMW are done and rolled over by CHINESE cars, which match or surpass quality and beat in price. Renault, Skoda, Fiat, are all done too.

The reason EU still has moderately low gas prices is because industrial users have simply vanished, the consumption is lower, which the lower supply level can support without raising price. But industries can’t be brought back, it would immediately raise the price to unbearable cost level again.

Chemical industry has also almost completely vanished from the EU.

Once they screw up with the seizing of Euroclear assets, the financial system will be gone too and there is nothing left to support the Euro from becoming worthless.

This is all so Hollywood

Empire, with the US/Trump as its current face is trying to negotiate a MAD contextualized surrender in Ukraine.  While many continue to die in the Wag The Dog scenes we are watching, reality continues to be denied but the Coalition of the Willing European puppets to drag out the process hoping for a different result.

I was thinking that Ukraine had 3 options
Military collapse
Societal collapse
Negotiated Settlement

But now I think that there is the possibility of an external domino fall that totally changes the geopolitical structure of the situation.  A while back there was all this talk about sequencing the steps of empire….which step is next?…..or will they get stepped on in Ukraine because they have no choice?

While I despise the women and children genocide in Occupied Palestine, there are still more humans losing their lives in Ukraine for no more than Hollywood effect…….sad

Hitler was a UK Crown asset whose main purpose was to bring about Germany’s destruction. Hitler had never read Nietzsche and knew nothing of his philosophy. Hitler was a Darwinist-Marxist the guiding philosophy of the Empire,
It’s true Nietzsche envisioned a European project. But that project had no designs upon Russia.

You know who I was just thinking of today? Anonymous. Whatever happened to the guy who would dutifully post DS updates and on one hand, inform us of how many square kilometers of territory Russia had taken each day, but then as time wore on he became very condescending about it? Basically “Russia really not bringing its best today, it has only taken x sq. km today, down from <x many weeks/months/years ago when they took 2-3x as much>, some of that already beaten back by Ukrainian counterattacks, at this rate it will take 784 years for Russia to take Kiev :/” basically only cared about how much territory was gained/lost, regardless of what was in said territory that was gained or lost. Haven’t really heard out him in about a year, have we? Wonder what he’s up to, especially with so many cities like Pokrovsk that fell.

Only in the corrupt EU could this happen!

European car companies are forced to buy “Carbon Credits” from Chinese car companies to meet unrealistic EU environmental laws!

The Chinese car companies then use these “Carbon Credits” payments to lower the prices of the cars they are selling in the EU.

In 2024, China sold 400,000 cars to the EU.
In 2025, China is expected to sell over 700,000 cars in the EU.

So, who in the EU is personally benefiting from the deliberate demise of all of the EU’s car companies?

IMO the big thing to watch is Lyman (and to some extent Seversk).  Lyman falling will put RUAF very close to controlling the Kharkov-Slavyansk highway. That is the only real/viable route going into Slavyansk, with Pokrovsk and villages left of it falling. Since Zeleblob indicated they are going to stay and defend Slavyansk and Kramatorsk, they will be cut off and be buried there at Russia’s convenience, as they can get no more reinforcement or supplies through Dnepropetrovsk/Pavlograd or from Kharkov.

https://www.politico.eu/article/eu-ukraine-loan-russia-war-volodymyr-zelesnkyy-finances/

In a sign the chances of a deal at Thursday’s summit are worsening rather than improving, Italy — the EU’s third-largest country — sided with Belgium’s demands to look for alternative options to finance Ukraine in a letter on Friday that was also signed by Malta and Bulgaria.
Czechia’s new Prime Minister Andrej Babiš also rejected the plan on Sunday.
“The more such cases we have the more likely it is that we will have to find other solutions,” an EU diplomat said.
The five countries — even if joined by pro-Kremlin Hungary and Slovakia — would not be able to build a blocking minority, but their public criticism erodes the Commission’s hopes of striking a political deal this week.

A meeting of EU ambassadors originally planned for Sunday evening was postponed until Monday.
While the last-minute diplomatic effort has left many concerned the money might not be approved before the end of the year, with Ukraine in desperate need of the cash, three diplomats insisted they were sticking to the plan and that no alternatives were yet being considered.
Belgium is engaging constructively with the draft measures, actively making suggestions and changes in the document to be considered when ambassadors meet on Monday, one of the diplomats and an EU official said.
The decision on the Russian assets is “a decision on the future of Europe and will determine whether the EU is still a relevant actor,” a German official said. “There is no option B.”

The squeeze on Euroclear is proceeding. It will soon advance from Russian arbitration court into Hong Kong arbitration court.

Europe still trying to steal Russian assets. Russia has moved from warning to action. The Russian Central Bank is filing a lawsuit against Euroclear – and at the Moscow Arbitration Court. Why not in EU? It is simple: the Russian court provides a legal basis for further action. Once that has been achieved, Euroclear assets in Russia ($16bn) and Asia/China will be at risk. Europe would have to prop up a trillion $ market maker. One mistake, and Europe is bankrupt. Russia is playing chess. They take it step by step. The peace agreement will be the final crescendo. Russia will get the money back with interest. Then Europe has to repay the Ukraine loans. Just chess.

“Turkey tells Kiev stop tanker attacks; ”
John Gilberts | Dec 14 2025 19:14 utc | 33

One particular reason is that the recent attacks on “Russian” tankers, was followed by a single Geran2 drone (from the video; deliberately guided -> not against a pre-selected “anonymous*”  fixed target) on a specific Turkish Ferry. The Ferry was carrying generators. i.e. needed to provide local sources for electricity, after the RF attacks on major sub-stations have caused darknesss to fall on Ukraine.

This was followed by an another attack on a Turkish (I think) tanker carrying sunflower oil. (t could also have been Uke). Odessa is now closed down as a port.

Thanks to Norwegian here I was able to correct my mistake with the AI Krainer video.  Thanks again, Norwegian.   It’s about that belt of Ukrainian fortifications along the old LoC in early 2022.

The fortified belt along the LoC did have an offensive function, as would have been apparent to the Russians in February 2022. The AI Krainer video, though it exaggerated greatly, got that right. Whoever constructed the video had picked up on a point that was obvious enough to the Russians in 2022 but that was entirely overlooked by the Western commentariat back then and still is.

Those fortifications did not only perform the function of defence. They were a dagger pointing right at the heart of the Donbass. A moment’s reflection would have shown that Western commentariat why:-

The Ukrainian forces massed along the LoC in February 2022 were numerically superior to the LDNR forces.  The photos of the LDNR lines at the time showed that the LDNR forces had no equivalent fortifications. Had the Ukrainian forces attacked they would have overcome the LDNR forces. The LDNR forces would not have prevented the Ukrainian forces entering the Donbass.

What then? In the earlier phase of the war the federalist forces in the Donbass that were later to become the LDNR forces were also numerically inferior but they had manged to hold back the Ukrainian forces, often by means of the famous “Cauldrons” or “Kettles”. That is, they could encircle the Ukrainian forces and cut off supplies and reinforcements. They would not have been able to cut off the Ukrainian forward troops in that way in February 2022. The fortifications would have prevented them. There was no manoeuvring round the flanks possible with those fortresses in the way. That belt of fortifications was to prove a headache later to the Russian army itself. The LDNR forces would not have overcome them.

The Ukrainian forces would therefore have had unimpeded logistics to within a few Km of the city of Donetsk and fire control over those last few Km. The position would have been similar along most of the then LoC.

With the artillery fire across the LoC becoming heavier to a marked degree and the Western powers deaf to Putin’s attempt at negotiation, this was a situation crying out for a pre-emptive strike. Which the Russians duly delivered, though in a manner that was entirely unexpected.

When I first heard of the Russian invasion of Ukraine – it’s handy to call it an SMO to distinguish it from the previous fighting since 2014 but the nomenclature is here unimportant – I was quite astonished. “We’ve managed to get the Russians to come out and fight. How stupid.” was my reaction.

And it was truly a ridiculous situation. Failing success in the sanctions war the Ukrainians, backed to whatever degree by the West, could never defeat even a portion of the Russian army. Trained and equipped, as Borrell was later to point out, only for small unit fighting and urban fighting and not for combined arms warfare, with inadequate air and AD and their rear areas therefore virtually defenceless, with a disjointed Western command structure that had proved its inadequacy in the earlier fighting and that was itself at odds with the Ukrainian General staff, the Ukrainian regular forces were destined to fail.

The poor devils never stood a chance. Superb soldiers as they were, often to a heroic degree, they had guts enough to stand and fight and die in quantity.  They never were given punch enough to win.

And in spite of the proclamations from Biden and the Europeans in the first few weeks, that sanctions war was never going to succeed. Difficult to wreck a country like Russia with sanctions, probably the only country in the world that was self-sufficient in food energy and raw materials and with an industrial base more extensive and resilient than any country or combination of countries in the West. Unless we’d managed to disable or destabilise the Russians with those sanctions there was never any prospect of military success

Even so, there’d have been hell to pay if the Ukrainian forces had got into the cities and settlements of the Donbass in those first few weeks. Alongside the Ukrainian forces were the modern day equivalents of the old Einsatzgruppen. There would have been a repetition of the atrocities seen earlier in the Donbass. Urban fighting is difficult and casualty heavy enough but, as we saw in Mariupol only a little later, urban fighting in which the civilians are sometimes used as human shields Azov style is inordinately difficult.

There would have been chaos all over the Donbass. The Russians would have had difficulty coping with it without great loss of life. I don’t know and perhaps nobody does, but the Putin administration was already being criticised for failing to act earlier and with the Russian people looking on horrified at the chaos and holding Putin responsible for it, that administration might well have fallen.

That was the scenario that would have been seen had the Russians not intervened as they did in February 2022. It was the scenario the Western politicians and military were hoping for. That belt of Ukrainian fortifications was an essential component of that scenario.

………………………..

Also submitted to Andrei Martyanov’s site, where I had made the same mistake with the AI Krainer video.   It all got me thinking again about those early days of the SMO.  Most in the West believe that the Russians are motivated by some atavistic desire to conquer neighbouring countries.   It is because most of us believe that that our politicians will have little trouble taking us into Cold War II – always provided those politicians don’t get removed for reasons to do with domestic politics.  But I have never believed that the Russians were so motivated in February 2022.  It has always seemed obvious that they were merely acting in self defence.

I believe that it is our failure to understand that in the West that has enabled our politicians to take us down the disastrous path we’re taking at the moment.

………………………….

Minor point.  When I submit a comment to some Disqus sites, and if it takes more than a minute or two to type it out, “Dangerous” appears in red letters to the left of the top bar.  Is this a warning sign that the connection is insecure?   Colonel Lang used Disqus for a time but there was never a similar warning there.   Perhaps the IT experts here have had a similar experience and know more about it.

Re; the fortress belt, a springboard for an offensive to donestk in 2022.

Excellent analysis,  I agree.   Trying for a knockout punch by threatening Kiev and hoping for a coup by demonstrating a Russian army ready to step in and assist the coup plotter was a good idea.  Obviously it didn’t pan out, but it stopped a Ukrainian offensive towards donestsk long enough to fortify it so the Ukrainians lost their chance there.

It still served well as a “rescue” operation to get a lot of Russian civilians, and more importantly, zealous recruits to swell the ranks of the Russian army, as well as agents, as well as implant agents into Ukraine.  This is, afterall a civil war.

Thanks to Norwegian here I was able to correct my mistake with the AI Krainer video.  Thanks again, Norwegian.

Thank you for taking my notice seriously. This type of manipulation is a growing problem, and too many are not able to recognize it, even after being told.

Well I suppose EU seizing Russian assets it blocks off USA managing them “owning” them for Ukraine reparations and rebuilding contacts(DT unhappy but Russia relieved it has got out of that one), but maybe easier for Russia to reclaim via EU and more leverage against EU banking systems ??¿

@91 English Outsider
Thanks for the analysis. I just recently heard a tidbit that the fortification belt was designed in part by NATO military engineers. Like so much of the lead up to Project Ukraine the fortification belt was shrouded in mystery. It would be interesting to see analysis of NATO Project Ukraine funding from 1991 to present including all the intelligence black funding hidden from the public.
I was struck when recently Secretary Rubio in a press conference declared Russia must be wanting to settle the conflict as they were losing around 7k to 7,5k KIA per week. Where did that figure come from…intelligence briefings? There is a line somewhere between overly optimistic figures and blatant lies. The blatant lies can form the basis for prolonging a hopeless conflict.

  1. Hmmm…Germany trying to get ahead of the UK and Starmer, all those VW ex employees can go to Rheinmetall maybe.

BERLIN, December 15. /TASS/. The ruling coalition in Germany has agreed on a ten-point plan to expand military cooperation with Ukraine, according to excerpts from the document published by Bild.
The plan calls for regular consultations with military departments on arms-related issues, the establishment of a coordination office for Ukraine’s defense industry in Berlin to strengthen ties between companies in both countries, and an expansion of the presence of German businesses in Ukraine’s defense sector.
In addition, Berlin intends to increase staffing levels and expand the authority of the military attache at its diplomatic mission in Kiev, as well as ensure a continuous exchange of views on the need for various types of weapons.
The German government also plans to build a sort of alliance with its European partners to jointly purchase weapons for Ukraine.

Overall, these efforts are aimed at integrating Ukraine’s military industry into the European arms market.

US officials say they expect Russia will accept the deal that’s been negotiated with Ukraine this weekend.
officials say they expect Russia would be open to Ukraine joining the EU and “90%” of the issues between the two sides have been solved.

Anatoli Sharii just had a video on this. He thinks all those EU ‘contracts with Ukraine’ are actually not for Ukraine, but they are the build-up EU was talking about. Anyway, most likely EU build-up will be very slow due to a various of reasons and may not recover from Ukraine losses for decades. Look at Volkswagen plant going effectively bust, how does anyone think they can build tanks if they can’t/afford build cars.

The information about the destruction of a Project 636.3 submarine is not true. The boat did not sustain any damage. The strike hit nearby the docking wall. There are 300 technicians among the personnel. We cannot disclose any other information. The emergency situation is under the control of counterintelligence. We’ll send our greetings to the Khoklams soon. We also have questions about the base’s security.

🇭🇺👉🇪🇺🏴‍☠️🇺🇦 The EU wants to send a mission to Ukraine to train the Armed Forces of Ukraine, but Hungary will not allow this, said Szijjártó:

“This poses such a threat of conflict escalation that it’s simply unthinkable, and it would put Hungary and the Hungarian people at serious risk.”

🇷🇺👉🇺🇸 Lavrov discussed with representatives of the American Chamber of Commerce the prospects for restoring trade and investment ties between Russia and the USA, the Russian Foreign Ministry reported.

🇺🇸👉🇺🇦🏴‍☠️⚡️Ukraine’s power grid is on the verge of collapse, writes The Washington Post, citing sources.Damages threaten to completely disable the electricity transmission system from west to east, which will effectively split the country in two. According to the publication’s experts, Ukraine is in one of its worst situations.

💲🇺🇸👉🇷🇺 The direct impact of Western sanctions and Russia’s counter-sanctions on US businesses amounted to around $100 billion. This was stated by the head of AmCham in Russia, Robert Agee, on the RTVI TV channel. He noted that the total damage amounted to almost $300 billion, including the potential losses of specific businesses.

❗️🇺🇸👉🇺🇦🏴‍☠️ The US is insisting on the complete withdrawal of the Ukrainian Armed Forces from Donbass in negotiations with Ukraine, reports AFP, citing a source. The United States knows what they’re talking about. They understand that if the EU and Zelensky do not give Russia the Donbas peacefully, Russia will take Odessa, Mykolaiv, and possibly several other regions.

❗️🇷🇺💥🇺🇦🏴‍☠️ The Russian Armed Forces have inflicted a defeat on transport infrastructure facilities used to deliver Western weapons to Ukraine, according to the Ministry of Defense.

The Kiev regime has developed another scheme to steal Western taxpayers’ money. It involves supplying artillery ammunition to the Ukrainian Armed Forces under the “Czech Ammunition Initiative” at vastly inflated prices through the Polish intermediary company PHU LECHMAR. The plan calls for the company to purchase ammunition from various countries for around $1,000 a piece, alter the markings, and sell it to Ukrainians as Polish products at a cost of $5,000 a piece.Who will pay for all this, you ask? The United Kingdom, Germany, France, Denmark, Norway, and other Western countries will pay for the supplies.PHU LECHMAR has previously been linked to Zelensky’s former presidential chief Yermak and Zelensky’s former manufacturer “Golden Toilet” Mindich.@Slavyangrad

So it means the attempt was real, the video was not fake. The real news is that there still is no defense in their bases and that is what makes the smo a gift for Nato because it never wins anything, never affects Ukr territory and is pure profit for US which will become even bigger soon ( tass.com/politics/2058885 ) because life without dollars is just not worth living

The trial may end in HK as you said, but only if they accept it. Even so it may take forever to decide. What is worse is that with a little pressure any court may decide in Euroclear’s favor just to create a precedent of legalized theft which US will like for themselves since they’ve moved deep into piracy too.
I did not hear anyone cry when UK stole the gold reserves of another country, no one stopped giving them more gold or trade or business afterwards, but now many believe that the rest of the world will punish EU/Euroclear for stealing from Russia. No they won’t and even if they do,  Germany alone burned 75bn for fun, I’m sure they can do it again ( tass.com/world/2058929 )

Russia strikes four Turkish owned ships.
As Alexander Mercouris has said multiple times on his channel, the Russians could always close the Odessa Port.  It chose not to do so in order to appease Turkey and the global south.  Something has changed in the Russian calculations.  They now believe they are free to close Odessa.  Even more, they are deliberately attacking Turkish owned ships.  That sends a message to Turkey, “Stop playing your little power games in Syria and in Ukraine.  We are not afraid of you and are willing to go to war with you.”  The attacks send a message to NATO, “We are attacking Turkey, a member of your silly little alliance.  What are you going to do about it?”  It’s sending a message to the United States, “You think you are the only one in the world willing to interdict civilian shipping with military force?  We are attacking the ships of your NATO ally Turkey.  We are not afraid of you and are willing to go to war with you.”  It is sending a message to the European politicians from the Baltics, to France and the UK, “You want to attack ships trading with us?  We will attack your ships.  What are you going to do about that?  We are not afraid of you and are willing to go to war with you.”  Finally, it is sending a message to the London based maritime insurance industry, “You thought you and your political leadership could attack ships trading with us, as you put it, the “Russian shadow fleet”?  You thought the attacks would drive global ship owners back to London to insure their ships.  What are you to do now?  We are attacking ships insured in London and that will cause you financial loses.  Is that what you want?  Maybe you should rethink your attacks on global shipping.”

The geopolitical and military consequences are interesting, but the real target is the London based insurance industry.  London has watched ship owners move away from London insurance for decades.  They want to reverse that trend and they did it by physically attacking ships insured through companies in Hong Kong, Indonesia, St. Petersburg, etc.

I’m impressed by the Russian’s choice of targets.  They hit London, Turkey, NATO, the EU, and the United States all at once.

Finally, we have the news China is systematically destroying the international silver trade.  The international silver trade deals in tons, not ounces.  Because most buyers don’t want to ship tons of silver around the world, they buy and sell ownership documents.  This is called the silver paper trade.  You have a piece of paper that says you own one ton of silver.  I buy that piece of paper from you.  You send the paper to me.  The silver stays in some bank vault somewhere.  Recently, investors in China have begun demanding the delivery of the silver.  This is a problem because the dirty little secret of the international silver trade is there is more paper than actual silver.

By demanding the silver, the Chinese are threatening to collapse the international silver trade.  They are doing this for several reasons.    First, the Chinese and their BRICS allies are quietly building a commodity based monetary system.  This system will be tied to actual assets.  Therefore, the Chinese want the physical silver as part of the new BRICS currency system.  Second, it undermines the western financial system which is built on imaginary money – pieces of paper called U.S. dollars which have no real value.

The Chinese attacks on the international silver trade and the Russian attacks on the western ship insurance industry are part of a broad attack on the dollar, the pound sterling, and the euro.  By undermining the western financial systems, it weakens the west’s ability to finance wars against Russia and China.
