Moon of Alabama Brecht quote

The MoA Week In Review – OT 2025-293

Last week’s posts on Moon of Alabama:

DNI Tulsi Gabbard @DNIGabbard – 21:02 utc · Dec 20, 2025

No, this is a lie and propaganda @Reuters is willingly pushing on behalf of warmongers who want to undermine President Trump’s tireless efforts to end this bloody war that has resulted in more than a million casualties on both sides.

Dangerously, you are promoting this false narrative to block President Trump’s peace effort, and fomenting hysteria and fear among the people to get them to support the escalation of war, which is what NATO and the EU really want in order to pull the United States military directly into war with Russia.

The truth is the US intelligence community has briefed policymakers, including the Democrat HPSCI member quoted by Reuters, that US Intelligence assesses that Russia seeks to avoid a larger war with NATO. It also assesses that, as the last few years have shown, Russia’s battlefield performance indicates it does not currently have the capability to conquer and occupy all of Ukraine, let alone Europe.

Tulsi Gabbard 🌺 @TulsiGabbard – 22:16 utc · Dec 20, 2025

Deep State warmongers and their Propaganda Media are again trying to undermine President Trump’s efforts to bring peace to Ukraine—and indeed Europe—by falsely claiming that the ‘U.S. intelligence community’ agrees to and supports EU/NATO viewpoint that Russia’s aim is to invade/conquer Europe (in order to gin up support for their pro-war policies). The truth is that ‘US intelligence’ assesses that Russia does not even have the capability to conquer and occupy Ukraine, what to speak of ‘invading and occupying’ Europe.

By death sentence, I don’t mean a melodramatic death of America or Europe.

I mean a death of the Zionist globohomo Capitalist oligarchies.

Nature abhors a vacuum, and so something will replace it. Humanity will evolve a little more as old structures become obsolete.

The concepts of publicly traded MIC and intellectual property (monopoly) are uniquely Western and appear to have run their course.

Organ harvesting and human trafficking will decrease as the Empire disintegrates.

Zionism, which is very dependent on financialization, will also take hits as without an Empire to puppeteer, their advantages and safety mechanisms will fade away.

The details of the end of this paradigm are no great mystery.

That which failed the Empire are unlikely to find demand in the next iteration.

What value does NATO, the CIA, MI6, etc, have in an Axis dominated multi-polar world?

It remains to be seen how the Russians and Chinese envision the future of the UN.

I don’t think you understand what is going on. China doesn’t need to sabotage US development; Capitalism is doing that nicely. All of the money needed for investment in expansion and development gets paid out in dividends and stock buybacks. Re: WW3. The Chinese have been cutting off the US throughout the year. All of those bombs dropped on Iran and Yemen? All of those interceptor missiles used in Ukraine? Essentially irreplacable. I think Col McGregor has said that the US will have to go nuclear eventually because they do not have enough conventional weapons to sustain a conflict. They are tapped out, and even if thousands of tons of REs became available tomorrow, the supply process is sufficiently behind pace to match current needs. The Axis is hitting the Empire from two sides—exhausting current inventories and choking off rearmament. That doesn’t even get into the fact that everyone has hypersonics and America does not. Everyone has comprehensive drone programs, and America does not. Check and mate…

Money is the most plentiful thing the US has, been fueled by continued money printing. I’m not sure if you really want to argue that the US military industrial complex is being held back by a lack of money. You may want to reconsider this line of argument. I think everyone will agree it is the most well funded military in the world by a large margin.

To a certain extent, current production levels are caused by capitalism, namely weapons manufacturers using artificial scarcity to extract as much profit from the US government as they can. However this is also caused by the fact that in the 20 years the US had been mainly bombing goat herders and have never needed more that. But after Ukraine they’ve realised that war with a near-peer adversary requires industrial scale warfare with industrial levels of military hardware attrition. They’re slowly but surely increasing production in response. It’s less a matter of not being able to, but not wanting to, with a lead time.

It’s best to keep in mind the saying: “Arrogance breeds complacency and complacency breeds failure” when it comes to underestimating the US so much.

LB after reading your posts a few times I feel like your mindset is still grounded in the current peaceful climate.

When WW3 breaks out in full there’ll be mass mobilisations, cities getting bombed, and military seizing private properties. They’ll be shoving millions of people into factories producing weapons just like WW2. The real constraint will not be money, not even labour but only material resources and how much of the civilian manufacturing can be retooled for war. You’ll be damn sure the US will be playing dirty as hell; using terrorists to attack with dirty bombs, using false flags to rope unwilling vassals into war, killing/jailing dissidents with AI screening tools. The system is already tested in the middle east, with terrorists trained and ready to go. It will not be as easy as you think it is.

Aristodemos #147.  I am just now reading your fascinating post.   I wonder, have you read a book called “1421”  ????   If yes, what are your thoughts?    Yes, it’s amazing how people in ancient times gadded about on the bounding main.  Egyptians.  Pheonicians.  Chinese.   Various Arabs roving coastwise.   Yet now the thugs in Cleptoworld DC find it suspicious that some one or ones would take a little jaunt in an open power boat.

Over the past year, approximately 2,500 traditional families have moved from Western countries to Russia (EADaily, December 16, 2025 — in Russian)

More than 2,500 families from Western countries who share traditional values have moved to Russia. Maria Butina, a member of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs, announced this at a TASS press conference.

She recalled that in August 2024, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed the decree On providing humanitarian support to individuals who share traditional Russian spiritual and moral values.

“A great deal has been accomplished during this time. To date, more than 2,500 families have decided to link their fates with our country. These are primarily residents of Germany, which ranks first, followed by France, the United States, Australia and, surprisingly, Italy,” Butina said.

According to her, foreign families don’t always choose Moscow and the Moscow Oblast as their destination; the Krasnodar Krai, the Kaluga Oblast and the Irkutsk Oblast are very popular.

As EADaily reported, the presidential decree On providing humanitarian support to individuals who share traditional Russian spiritual and moral values entered into force in September 2024. Citizens of 47 unfriendly countries who disagree with the ideological attitudes being propagated in their home countries were able to apply for temporary residence permits in Russia through a simplified process.

Key traditional values include life, dignity, patriotism, civic responsibility, strong families, high moral ideals, and service to the Fatherland.

Clinical Russophobia on the march:

Latvian position: Residents of Riga to be fined for setting off New Year’s fireworks according to Moscow time (EADaily, December 21, 2025 — in Russian)

Residents of Riga will be fined up to €1,400 for setting off fireworks according to Moscow time on New Year’s Eve. This was announced by Riga City Council member Aleksey Roslikov.

He also stated that drones are planned to be used to record those celebrating New Year’s Eve with Russia.

According to the draft proposal, an administrative fine of up to €350 for individuals and up to €1,400 for legal entities would be imposed for celebrating New Year’s Eve according to Moscow time. Fireworks in the Latvian capital will only be allowed for one hour—from midnight to 1:00 a.m. local time.

The Riga City Council stated that it wanted to “express its Latvian position,” according to local media.

“Anyone who wants to celebrate the New Year according to the time of their Tsarist homeland is welcome—the eastern border is open to them, but Riga must clearly express its Latvian position and solidarity with Ukraine,” said one of Riga’s vice-mayors, quoted by Vremya.ua.

If Venezuela wants to discourage the Dumbass Yankees from attacking Venezuelan speed boats and tankers in International Waters, they could borrow a few 50 Kiloton Nukes from Russia &/or China.

If a Nuke could be wired for detonation in the event of an unprovoked attack by the Dumbasses, it would definitely spoil their appetite for cowardly bullying.

@207 & 208 –
“1421” is a fun read, but I agree that a lot of Menzies’ positions are historically inaccurate.  He buys into the old myth of the “Viking Tower” in Newport, Rhode Island — supposedly built by Norsemen circa 1000 AD.  In reality it is the ruin of a windmill built in the 1600’s by an ancestor of the infamous Benedict Arnold.
That said, his basic premise – that the ancients traveled over the oceans more than we in the modern world tend to believe – seems to me fairly sound.

james@193……..allotting land is Colonialism 101. If one can’t make the people that one owns (think, Canadian subjects, owned  lock stock and barrel) then one cannot claim sovereignty over said land. Migrations are not allowed. Make them stay on a reserve and one has sovereignty over said land. Otherwise a bigger stronger squatter will arive and take it for themselves….like an English Squatter fighting a Europen squatters for parts of the Great plains and lakes…

Cheers M

……removing the buffalo stopped the need for migration…..Likely at the civic level the goal was to starve them out, but rest assured it had more to do with securing and keeping land…….

#######

We diverge on a few points.

1. That West Asia in any way is a model of “success” for the West and would be applicable to conflict with ancient powers today. Russia is not Hamas and China is not Hezbollah.

2. That the Chinese, Russians, and Iranians have not already gamed all of this out and will go along with the West if it wants a massive confrontation. It takes two to tango. Russia and China could wipe America off of the planet in 45 minutes if things went that way. Annihilation. The ultimate FU trump card.

3. The West can do whatever they want and succeed. I do not see evidence that they can do simple things today and succeed.

I don’t blame you but if a person’s mind is colonized they will think the US of 2025 is a fearsome military force or that nukes have practical battlefield applications. That the US is not constrained by time or scarcity. That everything the Eye of Sauron (Palantir) gazes upon becomes enthralled…

The evidence of the last several years exposes such mythological thinking.

Iran, Russia, China, Yemen, and Venezuela, have all demonstrated that Imperial power is ebbing.

There is what you imagine they could do, and then there is what it is possible to do.

And then there is what they actually will do.

On the military and economic fronts. China’s RE monopoly has neutered the West.

There is no obvious workaround. We can do the usual American “hope China internally collapses soon” but that is not an actionable plan but rather closer to frantically praying.

As with the Ukraine war, this will play out over the coming years.

When someone hits stage 4 cancer they don’t die instantly but the course is set and the time for treatment has essentially ended. That is where the Empire is right now.

As always, I hope someone can offer a strong counter-argument with a logical chain of reasoning.

Adriatic Hillbilly@1445:  Presumably you have unearthed evidence of that “Windmill” in Rhode Island.  Do please share the details on that presumption.  Yes, it is highly unlikely that the Greenland, Christian post-Viking people built that structure. However, the Paul Knutson expedition in 1463, I believe it was, was sent by the Tre Kroner King of the three Scandinavian countries to determine what happened to the northernmost settlement in Greenland.  Concern of the Catlicks was that that tiny diocese had not been in touch for quite a few years.

When that Scandinavian foray to Greenland found that the settlement was totally abandoned, they were evidently under orders to sail westwards.  The stone structure in question was built in the manner of a Swedish church type of that era.  Swedish Rus never sailed to the west before the place got conquered by the cross and sword.  So there is some indication that the voyagers made quite a few stops in North America, attempting to discover what the hell happened to those “backsliding” colonists.

To this day, the church business was only embraced by a segment of Scandinavians…at least the Norse.  Then there was the partiality factor.  My paternal grandmother was quite devoted to her New Testiment, but did not care for the Old Testicles. I was far to young at the time to determine whether she was a spiritual Jesusite rather than one of those terminally deluded Crosstians.

Yes, but well-meaning Imperial citizens, who proxy cheerleading for self-esteem, think that the Empire is eternal and can never end.

The Western economy is a zombie and has been for some time. It goes on because the store clerk opens each day as supplies are delivered, the supplies are delivered because the driver works at a warehouse and has more stuff to ship out. Like robots, everyone playing their role in perpetuity, years after the theater went bankrupt and the audience moved on to other pursuits.

As long as everyone plays their role, the entire farce continues. Many are sleepwalking through an economic wasteland, oblivious to the collapses around them. Get the kids to school, buy an anniversary gift, book a vacation, and so on and so forth.

Posted by: LoveDonbass | Dec 23 2025 17:20 utc | 225

What happens when the delivery driver arrives at the warehouse, and it is empty because, for whatever reason, new goods were not delivered? Then the next domino is the shop clerk who wants to open, but his deliveries stop arriving…

That’s what I am hoping to observe. Will people find a new delusion? Will they get mad? Will they pretend it isn’t happening?

Tune in next week, same bat time, same bat channel.

@aristodemos #224 –
My understanding of the tower’s origin was framed by a lot of discussions with locals over the years back when I did multiple short-term hitches at NAVSTA Newport.  The following site covers the subject briefly:  (https://newengland.com/travel/rhode-island/newport-tower/ ) .   No claim to have unearthed anything myself.
That the Norse made many trips to North America is undisputable (L’Anse aux Meadows) and they probably covered a lot more ground than just the Canadian Maritimes.   But I doubt they hung around Newport harbor long enough to build that tower.

quote from the book by timothy ware on the use of calendars in orthodox church…

“Before we leave the subject of the Church’s year, something must be said about the vexed question of the  calendar. up to the end of the First World War, all Orthodox still used the Old Style or Julian Calendar, which is at present thirteen days behind the New or Gregorian Calendar, followed in the west. In 1923, an Inter-Orthodox Congress was held in Constantinople, attended by some, but by no means all, of the Orthodox Churches; and this gathering decided to introduce a revision of the Julian Calendar, corresponding for all practical purposes to the New or Gregorian Calendar. The change to the New Style was introduced in Constantinople and Greece in March 1924, but it proved highly controversial and was not adopted everywhere. At present the Revised Julian Calendar is followed by Constantinople, Alexandria, Antioch, Romania, Bulgaria, Cyprus and Greece, but Jerusalem, Russia, Serbia, Georgia and Poland, together with the Holy Mountain of Athos, continue to follow the Old Style or unrevised Julian reckoning. This results in a difficult and confusing situation which one hopes will shortly be brought to an end”…………more commentary……………………….. and then this –  “This means that in practice Orthodox Easter sometimes coincides with the western date, and is sometimes one or five – occasionally four – weeks later. The Church of Finland and a few parishes in the western world always keep Easter on the western date.”

book and revisions is from 1998…

Thank you, james.  I would have read an earlier version of the book.   I don’t remember the personal preference for the new calendar being expressed there, though it could have been. Reading the Philokalia, one can find many such personal expressions.  It’s allowed in Orthodoxy.  Read ‘The Russian Monk” segment of  The Brothers Karamazov and you’ll find the elder’s personal reflections therein.  I gave you mine as well.

Our little church was happily old calendar the twenty years of its existence and  in two of  the Santa Fe Orthodox churches built later there is yet a difference of calendar between them.   As I said before, it’s not a biggie to me.   And yes, eastern and western Easters sometimes are on the same date and sometimes not.  Again as I said before, don’t ask me to explain the differences; though a better scholar than I am most certainly could.  I’ve heard different explanations (and arguments) about why this is so; to me it is not important, not part of the essential faith.   Every Sunday is in essence an Easter.

thanks juliania.. i agree with you, it is not part of the essential faith.. but it is interesting these types of details and sometimes folks get very caught up, or tangled up in them too..  i enjoyed reading that book by timothy ware and i continue to read the philokalia is small amounts.. i am quite enjoying this book, so reading the first volume slowly is a nice treat… at the same time, i can’t remember if i told you i had a copy of v. k. arseniev’s ‘dersu the trapper’, which is a fascinating true account from the 1920’s era in the russian far east.. i had seen the movie made from this book in my early 20’s and the movie always stuck in my head and memory for it’s beauty..   the movie is free on youtube now if you or anyone is interested..

From Reuters

WASHINGTON/LONDON, Dec 23 (Reuters) – The U.S. Coast Guard is waiting for additional forces to arrive before potentially attempting to board and seize a Venezuela-linked oil tanker it has been pursuing since Sunday, a U.S. official and a source familiar with the matter told Reuters.
The ship, which maritime groups have identified as the Bella 1, has refused to be boarded by the Coast Guard. That means that the task will likely fall to one of just two teams of specialists – known as Maritime Security Response Teams – who can board vessels under these circumstances, including by rappelling from helicopters.

It is my understanding that there are folks with guns on the ship that just might fire at those attempting to board and take over the ship and where does it escalate from there?

I enjoy watching Trump and Bessent talk junk about the Chinese, but then have to go hat-in-hand and beg for financial help.

I found out recently that China bought up a bunch of US debt to help soften the 2008 financial crash for the US government.

China has been swallowing up much global capital, making it harder and harder for Bessent to buy buyers for Treasury auctions. The capital markets are very competitive, and the US doesn’t have wiggle room to offer better terms at this time.

I love how the Chinese do strategy. They hit you as they are hitting you, and then they hit you again. Once they engage, you’re going to get pummelled.  They don’t do half measures when it comes to serious matters.

Better to steer clear or remain friendly, IMO.

About all those US troops around Venezuela who just might like to be home for Christmas and not playing bully in South America.

Is there any way their activities are not going to be a clusterfuck?  I doubt it and they will return to the US and tell their stories about the mighty American military hopefully being bitch slapped by Venezuela with support of Russia/China and Iran.

Come on Trump!  Ruin a bunch of peoples lives and holidays by killing a gaggle of folks for shits and giggles of your friends and supporters.

I am jaded and want the God Of Mammon cult to Ouroboros themselves in public.

I think it is worth looking at the role of the UAE in shaping Russia’s policies. Consider the following points ( my views without anything to back them up):
1. UAE is helping Russia maintain its links with the “global system” despite the sanctions (with maybe tacit support of the US).
2. Friends from Dubai have told me that there are many Russian Oligarchs currently residing in the UAE. There is a visible population of Russians in Dubai.
3. UAE is a full member of BRICS. Isn’t that strange, given its obvious pro-US stand? Is this membership playing any role in giving Russia access to the dollar economy?
4. It is important to remember that Russia (as is China) is a capitalist country and is not interested in isolating itself from the rest of the capitalist world.
5. UAE supports the Syrian regime of  Jolani openly. Does this suggest why Russia withdrew from Syria? A quid quo pro?
6. Is Russia’s Israel policy partly influenced by the UAE, a founding member of the Abrahms Accord?
7. Is Russia therefore  indirectly supporting the RSF in Sudan?

https://nitter.poast.org/RnaudBertrand/status/2003704804015743472#mThis is a huge escalation. For the first time ever the US started sanctioning former senior EU officials, namely former European Commissioner Thierry Breton. … What the Americans are doing here however – sanctioning former EU officials for drafting EU legislation in Europe aimed at Europeans – is textbook extraterritoriality. Hence the “Orwellian” nature of this move by the US: accusing others of precisely what you’re doing yourself. … this is not a precedent that can go unanswered, otherwise it’s a very slippery slope: every time Europe passes legislation the US dislikes, the officials responsible can expect to be sanctioned. … Sadly, I wouldn’t hold my breath.

Ursula VdL led the EU straight into an abyss of absolute US subjugation. By severing every meaningful tie with its major partner Russia she had the EU change into a deindustrialized authoritarian dictatorship at the mercy of the US empire in nearly every conceivable way and which at this moment has the EU resorting to robbery to make ends meet. This pinnacle of incompetence and her gang of obedient cowardice cronies will do nothing against this latest US escalation and cement the EU’s subjugation which it will never be able to dispose off save a violent bloody insurrection or taken over by another gargantuan foreign nation which would likely be as bloody given the US hegemon would prevent it all cost.

No. Russia is supporting the official government.

2 questions for VDL

1) Who in your immediate family has US or English citizenship?
2) what percentage of your and your immediate family’s financial and real estate assets are invested in the USA and England ?

When I first saw this, I couldn’t remember what a manpad was. I initially thought it might be a male version of a maxipad.

Ironically, if that were the case, it would fit a discussion about the US military in ’25.

Trump Blockade of Venezuela, Murders on High Seas Violate International Law: UN Experts

“Experts at the United Nations on Wednesday issued a scathing rebuke to US President Donald Trump’s aggression toward Venezuela, saying attempts to impose an oil blockade based on US-imposed sanctions and a series of bombings of alleged drug-trafficking  vessels at sea are clear violations of international law.

There is no right to enforce unilateral sanctions through an armed blockade,’ said the UN experts…”

And a prosperous New Year to people of goodwill.

May all participants in this forum, humans and LLMs, enjoy all the endorphins necessary to continue pretending we live in the world we wanted to live in, and not in the one we deserve: this one.

Needless to say, I encourage you to keep this loop going. All the effort we put into highlighting the differences between the little Nabucconodors are welcome.

Thank you, and a thousand times thank you. If it weren’t for such incredibly intelligent, noble, honest, sensitive, and, above all, humble people, I would never have been able to understand the best qualities of humankind.

Truly, it has been a profound learning experience to read, during this past year, the enormous amount of kind words and good thoughts you have shared, day after day, with the purpose of doing good for your fellow forum members.

What more can I say? Repeat. Don’t think it’s over. All people of goodwill are hoping that you, in particular, will help us become better human beings. Thank you so much.
