Russia Stands “Shoulder To Shoulder” With Venezuela, Blasts US War Footing

Russia on Sunday issued new statements voicing deep concern over the US force posture in the southern Caribbean, warning against any possible slide toward direct military action.
The fresh Kremlin statement said Moscow is standing shoulder to shoulder with Caracas, with a fresh appeal for the Trump administration to avoid exacerbating tensions which could lead to open and unnecessary conflict.
Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov criticized Washington’s desire to establish unconditional dominance in the region, and decried that this has become the norm for the current administration.
He warned that “tensions are not easing” and “escalation continues” off Latin America, also after the last few months stretching back to September have seen a string of nearly two dozen deadly US attacks on alleged drug smuggling boats near Venezuela.
“This is primarily due to the desire to assert the unquestioning dominance of the United States in the region, this is a trademark of the Trump administration,” Ryabkov explained.
According to more of his statement:
“We express our solidarity with Venezuela, with whom we recently signed a strategic partnership and cooperation agreement,” the deputy foreign minister noted.
“We support Venezuela, as it supports us, in many areas. In this hour of trial, we stand shoulder to shoulder with Caracas and the Venezuelan leadership. We hope that the Trump administration will refrain from further escalating the situation toward a full-scale conflict. We urge it to do so.”

Tom: discoveries happen when and where they happen. Certainly _not_ synchronous, one at a time. Consider the human mind; it’s a parallel processor, then take that to the 3rd or 4th power, and consider all those minds functioning somewhat independently, all acquiring the precursors to the “invention” at different rates and through different delivery vectors (angles of entry into the mind). It’s damned chaotic.   Snake: and is your one new product at time linear. one must complete before the next.. can begin..?

Tom: no. the only somewhat linear aspect of the Factory is that there’s a sort of linear sequence involved in new business formation, and (quite similarly) for new product development. But that “linear” process is iterative; it loops. The subsequent steps in the design-test process depend on accurate assumptions (like any model) and … the subsequent (iterative) attempts to get to business viability (company can make it in the real world) turn up “issues” that need to be used as feedback to revise the baseline assumptions. The model is changing (adapting) to one’s iterative attempt to gradually synchronize the “model” – e.g. what you think the business is, it’s design … to what reality is. Prod devel and business devel are a “get acquainted with reality” game.

And the product development context – e.g. what’s happening outside the prod devel team- is entirely chaotic; all manner of players are developing simultaneously, and every new product, once it becomes known, has an impact on subsequent prod-devel processes. They’re feeding off one another.

Snake: I think you meant new discoveries that lead to new industries are independent of each other and that the development of the industries are linear.. ??

Tom: sort of. Let’s get a case study on the table to help make this concrete. Edison, Westinghouse, Tesla are all fiddling around with electromagnetism. It’s new. No one really fully understands it. A dynamo gets built, converts mechanical energy to electricity. Still no one knows what to do with it. Someone (all of ’em did it sorta) makes an electric motor, and a light bulb, and electrical conductors (copper wire). Somebody connects an electric motor to a mill (fabric, rolling (steel), whatever) and somebody puts a light bulb(s) into the factory.

Total freak-out. Completely changes the economics, speed, affordability, repeatability of mfg’g. Massive, massive change in wealth creation, job obsolescence, technical obsolescence (stationary steam engines). Huge new industries created overnite. Impact, impact, impact. Can’t over-state it.

That’s an example of a product creating industry.

Most prods don’t create industries; they’re minor evolutions on a theme, like an manual pencil sharpener, then an electric one. Toaster, toaster-oven. Ya, they’re cool, but not that big a deal. Note that the products that create new industries flow has slowed down a lot lately. Why?

Snake: its possible to have ten new products (technologies) developing in parallel..but the development of each is linear..

Tom: yup. sorta linear, as I mentioned above. Recall that the human mind is an extraordinary parallel processor. It’s not linear. “Iterative” isn’t really the right word. Explosive, magnetic, particle-colliding, serendipitous all at once.
  Snake: and products that incorporate these discoveries or technology express their substance and meaning in a series of new products more or less in linear fashion?

Tom. Ya. what happens is someone on the fringe has an epiphany, and all the incremental thinkers do variants on the core theme.
Snake: developing markets for new products expressing new technology is vastly different from developing new markets for products expressing well known technology.
Tom: you bet. and that’s the Holy Grail of basic research (that the West is having trouble, emotionally, to resource correctly

Snake: Take the Optics market.. There are many different kinds, types, and uses for microscopes and telescopes.. The optics market seeks to serve those who need to see something small or something far away. But the tools to see that smallest thing are complicated to use, often configured to be highly specific to the users application, and the equipment is expensive, difficult to use, and often it is outdated even before it can be put to the use it was acquired or built for.

Tom: sounds reasonable; seems like a “mature” market doing a lot to ID specialized markets once the really big ones (like eyeglasses) are saturated and then commoditized.
Snake: New discoveries is not the same as new uses..

Tom: no indeed. When the semiconductor was invented by Shockley, he had _no_ idea what it would be used for. Fairchild et. al. was a key application. Look at what happened after that. (For those that don’t remember Fairchild semiconductor, they were among the first to do simple computer chips. Several of the Intel founders worked at Fairchild.

Snake: You need to explain your premise more thoroughly.

Tom: you need to see the Factory in operation.

Their interpretation of the Trump’s NSS report is that it is a declaration of war. US cleans up in South America, while Europe destroys itself, I mean faces off against Russia, while Japan / Philippines / Australia presumably face off against China. American citizens have made it quite clear that this behavior is very acceptable, with the only pushback being standard US fake partisan attacks by democrats on Hegseth, and only for the double tap. Note that in the Biden administration, the US fake partisan attacks were directed at Biden by republicans. The parties just switched roles.

The NSS is being analyzed word for word around the world. And people are preparing for the worst.

This is the second video where reading the details have been described as “flowery nice stuff that wraps around a brutal plan for domination”. It DOES show a change of plan for the US as there is a realization that the US cannot take on Russia OR China, much less Russia AND China. So, bite off one piece at a time, and divide and conquer by working to get the rest of the world to live in hate and disharmony.

They are also designing more efficient AI and microprocessors.

Thinking about it, I do think the same phenomenon of TDS was seen back in 2008ish when BO was elected to POTUS.

I wanted to inform you, karlof1, that I was happy to see yesterday that your ‘Putin in India’ substack post was included in nakedcapitalism.com’s listing of links for the day. Deservedly so!

This will, however be my last post, though I will still read here after an interval I hope. Today was the festal observation of a major feast for my little Russian Orthodox church in Santa Fe, so I spent the early morning reading through my Festal Menaion texts surrounding this feast. Its traditional feast day is December 4th, Old Calendar, and that day –way back in the day — was the baptismal day for my three older children soon after we all began attending. It did not escape me that this was also just last week the day of President Putin’s arrival in India, to such a glorious welcome it still takes my breath away.

The feast in question was that of the Entrance of the Theotokos into the Temple. For the first time I realized that this feast is Orthodoxy’s response to the papal edict that gave her (the mother of Christ named here Theotokos or Mother of God) a divine beginning, called the immaculate conception. I would say this is the heart of the fundamental difference in understandings between Catholicism and Orthodoxy, which is to be found in this feast alone. For, she is, was, enirely human, as was Gandhi whose life we see Putin honoring on the day of the feast, in India. In this feast she is a little child being brought into the temple (where her uncle is welcoming her, ) to be brought up in its surrounds. Much as my three older children early in our approach to the Orthodox faith, happily rejoiced so to do back in the day. It is a wonderful feast.

I congratulate you karlof1, on this deserved recognition, as your substack links for this post are truly glorious. I will be more intensely researching the riches of my faith, painting icons, working in my garden, but I promise that if and when I have something to say on this subject, i.e. what it means to be entirely human, perhaps you will hear from me.

I forgot to say that in my little Santa Fe church, we would always celebrate such feasts throughout the church year on the closest Sunday, which would have been today. That was because those in our small congregation who worked would usually have only the weekend free to attend. I have continued that practice for myself in honoring that legacy. So, for me, that feast was today.

Big reputational hit for Porsche (their cars are overrated anyways). It was always only a matter of time before some group of hackers or other figures out how to trigger this and disables all Porsches across the EU, or worse takes out a much more popular model.

I’m not sure it is necessarily accurate to call it the right anymore. A lot of Bernie-bros went MAGA in 2016, and despite the hysteria from the Establishment it had nothing to do with racism or misogyny. More importantly, many of those who switched to Trump did so very specifically and emphatically because they could see the entire Establishment was was pulling out all the stops (a term appropriate for the Mighty Wurlitzer) to turn them away from Trump… an Establishment they had not only come to distrust since the in-your-face nastiness of the Democrat primaries, but to absolutely hate and loath.

The mass media then burned their bridges to these people by doubling down on the efforts to control their opinion, but of course when someone has become aware that cynically manipulative bad actors are trying to manipulate them, more manipulation just drives them further away. This lead to a positive feedback loop of the mass media continuously upping the sensationalism to get a handle on that portion of the population they lost, and that portion of the population just getting pushed further away by those efforts. At the same time, the Team Blue tribe was still swallowing the toxic sensationalism from the mass media in bulk, driving them mad. For the Team Blue adherents’ part, they were caught in a catch-22. To prove their allegiance to their tribe they had no choice but to not only continue consuming the crap from the mass media, but reinforcing it amongst others in their personal lives. It wrecked their minds.

This “maturing” that you speak of certainly happened, but it is not the result of some characteristic of right-wing ideology. It is simply the result obtainable by anyone who tunes out from the mass media forced narratives for real.

Donetsk court has sentenced the defendants in the murder of Sputnik correspondent Russell Bentley.

“The following sentences were handed down: (Vitaliy — Ed.) Vansyatskiy — 12 years in a maximum-security penal colony; (Andrey — Ed.) Iordanov — 12 years in a maximum-security penal colony; (Vladislav — Ed.) Agaltsev — 11 years in a maximum-security penal colony; (Vladimir — Ed.) Bazhin — one year and six months of imprisonment in a penal colony,” the Southern District Military Court said in a statement.

In April 2024, Margarita Simonyan, editor-in-chief of the Rossiya Segodnya media group and the RT television channel, reported that Bentley had died in Donetsk.

In September of that year, the Investigative Committee completed its investigation into this criminal case. According to investigators, the crime occurred on April 8. Military servicemen Iordanov, Vansyatskiy and Agaltsev physically assaulted and tortured Bentley, resulting in his death. The latter two placed the body in a VAZ-2115 car, which they detonated with a TNT block.

The next day, on Vansyatskiy’s orders, Bazhin, a soldier from the same military unit, “committed concealment of a particularly serious crime” and removed the remains of the deceased from the scene.

Since 2014, Bentley, call sign “Texas,” fought in the DPR militia. He said he went to Donbas because he admired the courage and resilience of the local population. There, the American raised funds and delivered humanitarian aid to those in need.

In 2021, he received Russian citizenship, and in 2023, he began working for the Sputnik news agency as a correspondent.

Bentley has repeatedly expressed support for the Special Operation, stating that Russia saved hundreds of thousands of lives. He has been awarded medals by the Donetsk People’s Republic.

Apparently, your story is that Trump is attacking CIA assets and then the CIA fighting back by publishing videos in every news outlet of these assets being killed. That sounds like a plot written by a 10 year old. The videos didn’t come from the CIA, they were released by Trump. Maybe Trump felt sorry for the CIA and so he handed them the ammunition to fight back.

I don’t have any concrete evidence that anybody is getting bombed down there, but I do know there is an enormous flotilla of US Navy ships costing million$ per day hanging around that area. I’m pretty sure the intent of releasing the videos (real or not) was to intimidate some folks that live down there.

I think that blowing up those small boats is to make it look like it really is about drug running ; for justifying the presence of such a huge armed force , and to hopefully cause a retaliation. Maybe also a bit of “look how tough we are”.

We can’t exclude CIA involvement in the drug trade, anywhere, including Venezuala.

The CCP continues to ship the precursors of fentanyl to the Americas, for processing and shipment to the US. Mexico and Canada are getting whacked into curbing this trade. It’s a two-fer, stop the trade and screw China. Venezuela is subject to lineup with both the CCP and the drug traders. The CIA is subject to lineup with all of the above. It’s ever ugly.

Conclusions aren’t available here. The White House refuses to provide justification data on the bombings, which means either there is none or they’re withholding it to intimidate the malefactors into submitting quietly, absent scandal. Blackmail becoming a weapon, then, against malefactors involved.

We’ll see.

What I’m saying is:
The message that Trump may want to send may be that any boat that comes close to a US Navy ship will be considered to be a drug trafficker and dealt with accordingly.
