Husam Zomlot issued the appeal following an incident last Saturday in which a Zionist group gathered at the entrance of the embassy in Hammersmith and placed stickers on the building, including ones reading “I love the IDF”. Security cameras captured several masked participants posing outside the main doors.

I can’t say I wouldn’t wish for PRC or Russia to veto Trump’s plan to permanently approve the depopulation of Gaza by quieter means, so long as the US or he himself gets a cut. But given the fact that many Arab states are endorsing Trump too, it’s hardly surprising. Even more, as an American citizen, it seems to me far more important to concede the truth, that Trump is even worse on Gaza than Biden. It is depressing that this is even possible, Biden was horrible. The people who made pre-emptive excuses for Trump should be apologizing I suppose. But I guess that’s why this thread is relatively quite.  I suppose one can’t argue the Abraham Accords are imperialist without speaking out against the tin God Trump.

She addressed the unprecedented US sanctions imposed on her, calling them illegal and a violation of the UN Charter. “What I am left with is my dignity and my voice,” she said. “I will not be silenced while I still have breath in my lungs.” 
 
Ending on a call to action, Albanese said the International Court of Justice has already made the legal path clear: Israel must end the occupation, withdraw its forces, dismantle settlements, and stop exploiting Palestinian resources. Justice, she noted, demands nothing less.

I did some research into Russia’s Israel ties.
 
When the Zionists were creating Israel, the USSR was supportive because the settlers displayed socialist inclinations with Kibbutzes (communes) among other socialist signaling.
 
The Israelis later sold American nuclear secrets (stolen by Jonathan Pollard) to the USSR in return for allowing a mass emigration of Jews to Israel.
 
Then the Israelis sided with the Americans in the Cold War, and the USSR figured out too late that the Zionists (including many former USSR citizens) were no longer friendly and had chosen America over Russia.
 
Russia, in its own slow and deliberate way, is re-establishing relations with Iran (the Persian Empire was a competitor to the Russian Empire in Central Asia). And with other Arab states, which IMO, as essentially Western vassals.
 
All I know is that Russia is all-in with Iran and Venezuela. They are (in poker terms) pot-committed.
 
Russia is not going to shoot at Israel, but they will help the Iranians defend themselves, which may involve killing Russian citizens working on behalf of Israel and America.
 
Geopolitics doesn’t have good guys and bad guys. It has interests and temporary alliances.

The Gulf states are not police states, because they don’t have a people, in the main. As the Saudi foreign minister of the time (I think it was prince Turki) described Qatar as “300 princes and a television station” – he forgot the gas fields. Those states are a princely family and some oil fields, with virtually no native population. That’s why they can bend and sign the Abraham accords. NB. The one peninsular state  with a substantial population, Saudi, notably hasn’t signed the Abraham accords, and, in my view, never will. What Saudi, sitting on the other side of the border watching what goes on in Palestine, would ever agree to do so? Even so-called absolute rulers do have to take opinion into account, but in the Gulf there is nobody whose opinion has to be taken into account, just the princes.
