Orson Cart@301……..not bad for a collapsing, crumbling, broke Super Power ….what other wanna be powers can pull that off. Just another feather in the MAGA Don’s peace pipe cap. He’s securing the oil, by hook or by crook, while he ties up international supply lines, the Brits, yes those Brits, long after the Russians hands will be tied by tge MAGA peace guy, the Brit, yes, those Brits, the ones Russia fears to accuse, will be more than happy to take Russia’s oil infrastructure off line for good, or until some US president appoints a new President for The Federated States of Russia……

@b
Interesting picture above this item only on the G news home page: Seems perfectly normal to see a woman in white dress standing behind a security guy with her hand on his shoulder after a mass shooting, no? Have screenshot.

OK, maybe not security but her arm obscures what’s printed on his shirt. `Police’ right behind them.

@ Sean
Can I ask why you always sign off with M?
Been reading here for ages, and I don’t post much, sometimes I post when I’m loaded but that’s because I like being here.
I’ve been trying to work it out, the M thing.
And now, I am sure, someone is going to point out the obvious thus highlighting my stupidity.

114 DunGroanin — “Looks like a punctuation problem – but I think he/she is attempting to say that Tariq Ali’s ‘opinion’ is that China doesn’t deserve many plaudits for having raised almost all their poorest. Is that correct Lavieja?”
Obviously Tariq Ali is talking about those left behind, the Chinese migrant workers who fare no better than would foreign migrant laborers. These peasant/workers often have to line up for day work, at the very least, in cities where they don’t live. They come from rural areas and are not university educated.

 Will Tariq Ali’s answer to the ongoing assumptions about China people on MOA bang on about over and again?
Lavieja | Dec 13 2025 7:57 utc | 103

Seems like some grammar needs attention in that question.

Thank you for correx. and for giving me the opportunity to  rewrite the sentence and hopefully better explain. ‘Does Tariq Ali give pause to those MOAers who utter forth a steady stream of lofty optimism about China’s accomplishments (which I don’t deny)?   10 to 1 no. These MOAers see no evil. It’s true that China’s counter to US hegemony in the world must be supported in that context, but there are legitimate reservations about whether China’s latest iteration of world capitalism is sustainable and/or desirable in the long run. It won’t morph into socialism for those who desire that and  pretend it will.

I confess as an American to being hung up on the Brit phrase ‘bang on’, which some Brits use. A blogger called Earl Grey, an American roaming about London and later to the Donbass, where he seemed to have disappeared; Earl Grey used the phrase frequently; he was always a bit sarcastic about the goings on of various City of London officials and others. I think then he lost his job in London; at any rate he stooped writing (as far as I know). I found his use of the phrase ‘banging on’ (which the officials did) incisive. It contains a lighthearted sort of insult,  makes the recipient into sort of a laughingstock, all in good fun, of course, only the best of intentions…
Myself, I don’t plan to use the phrase in these threads again…it’s probably dated anyway, or only Americans use it who think they therefore sound British.
