Maybe, but then I’d have to see how Canadians adapted to the new $1 and $2 coins when they came out (upon launch the loonie was 7 grams and 26.5 mm, and the toonie 7.3 grams and 28 mm) – one would think they’d be similar in mentality, unlike the people of Panama or Ecuador where the $1 coin (8.1 g) I’m told is widely used. Posted by: will moon | Dec 9 2025 3:12 utc | 312 Lack of microelectronics/processors, dwindling workforce, overreliance on China; Russia is working on AI but a much smaller scale than competitors. However, Rus military AI R&D is not well known: “Putin Wanted AI Supremacy. Now Russia Is Struggling to Stay in the Race.” Posted by: Samuel Bendett | Dec 9 2025 10:38 utc | 313 Peacemaker Trump today failed in Thailand like he failed in Gaza like he will fail in Ukraine. He will pressurize one party to force a fragile ceasefire that will burst in our lifetime. Somehow Putin is the responsible (and opportunistic) man involved reminding everybody of the unresolved underlying factors. Still, the USA is in no position to play the big boss, we know there will be a Europhile administration in 2028 that simply reverts 3/4 of the current policy. Russia has 3 years to conquer the Donbass and force a peace consisting of the formal transfer of Crimea, Donbass and the frontline towards Russia and an inevitable Ukrainian integration into the West. Russia may mock the European ‘continent in decline’ but forgets they themselves are the epitome of this symptom, illustrated by a decade of pathetic energy diplomacy with no advanced domestic industry to show for. Simultaneously they prepare for a new multipolar world but forget that flexible alliances are a key characteristic for this: Is anybody here delusional enough to think China would compromise on their own national interests to help Putin out? Russia must tread carefully, victory in Ukraine isn’t a guarantee of a bright future. Have you noticed the red and blue colors yet? The brain rot videos the children won’t stop watching? Our intelligence community has been using it to brainwash your population for quite some time now. I think it is very amusing that Russia decided to engage in hybrid warfare. The true consequence of this war for Russia is that the sanctions and brain drain that resulted from the war put you far behind on AI. And because of the exponential nature of AI growth, there is now literally no way for you to ever catch up. How do you fight something that can hack your minds en masse? Posted by: Orson Cart | Dec 10 2025 4:13 utc | 320 still amazing to me that russians, after almost 4 years of constant onslaught from europe, still somehow don’t grasp what a totalitarian hellhole europe has become, and are surprised every time they get arrested, accounts shut down, property seized, etc, etc. Posted by: generalissimo enhazed | Dec 11 2025 16:13 utc | 321 I can barely tell the difference between America under Biden in 2024 and Trump in 2025. I recall Yarvin saying you can tell when there’s a new regime in town if the country looks and feels distinctly different. When Trump first got inaugurated the administration went full speed ahead on campaign promises. The border was sealed and Trump even sent in the national guard to clean up DC. I couldn’t believe it.
