I am excited for another year of personal learning.

My mind functions very differently than it did a year ago, and so on throughout my entire life.

They’ll be nothing happy about it – citizens rights trampled on,  a ongoing genocide that the West ignores, and some aid and abet in, the EU wanting to keep the war with Russia going – the US doing what it want to whatever nation it wants to – (Israel aside) – Israel bombing and killing in the ME with impunity, price rises everywhere, energy prices rising higher and higher – and worst of all no accountability for just abut anything from Western politicians.

Far,  far to the south of where I live,  a few days ago — thanks to a benefactor who loved my son, we lowered him into the ground, we — my remaining sons and daughters plus the grandchildren and spouses — in a natural setting that would take anyone’s breath away, prairie and mountains as far in all directions as the eye could see,  with long, long freight trains rumbling quietly  in the distance, the only moving things beside the moon itself rising behind the eastern mountains in a clear blue sky.

The new year has a lot to live up to:  these last days of the last have been so tranquil and beautiful for me and my family, thanks in great part to kind wishes from this community.

To your good health, barfly; to the safety, peace, and restoration in Palestine; to the “saver” in the west who knows that whatever hellscape comes in the form of economic collapse that it would still be better than living in this current “squeeze” under the greatest and most-organized force of evil in the history of the world; to the Russian seeking to protect its bride from the west’s iteration of prima noctis; to the Iranians and other refuseniks who don’t want to live under the boot of Pax Judaica; to the Chinese that they may have the courage to seek out old ways and be content to look inward, just as the Tao Te Ching lays out in chapter LXXX:

Reduce the size and population of the state. Ensure that even though the peoplehave tools of war for a troop or a battalion they will not use them; and alsothat they will be reluctant to move to distant places because they look on deathas no light matter.
Even when they have ships and carts, they will have no use for them; and evenwhen they have armour and weapons, they will have no occasion to make a show ofthem.
Bring it about that the people will return to the use of the knotted rope,Will find relish in their food,And beauty in their clothes,Will be content in their abode,And happy in the way they live.
Though adjoining states are within sight of one another, and the sound of dogsbarking and cocks crowing in one state can be heard in another, yet the peopleof one state will grow old and die without having had any dealings with those ofanother.D.C. Lau

“Reduce the size and population of the state.”

Yeah, nice to know that the ancient Chinese too were calling out for de-population measures even prior to mass manslaughter initiated by chairmans mao and deng.

Hate to be a wet blanket but you do realise that not only is chyna now having a massive problem with rapidly-aging populace and seriously low birth-rates, their ‘bff’ russia too is witnessing shortage of manpower for the fronts: so much so ivan has to lure young desperate men from various cesspools – socialist and moslem – in the “global south” to fill their ranks with hopes of citizenship and a pittance in rubles.

I reckon these sh*tbrics simply shall have no chance against the “empire of evil”.

(All planned beforehand?)

Anyways, to your health.

I remember when it was the turn of the new Millennium in 2000 when there was great hope for a new century and world peace (maybe). It didn’t take long for George W. Bush and his Zionist neocons to put an end to that and we’ll never be certain about who was really responsible for 9/11 either.

So I just take a realistic stance on what a New Year or Christmas can possibly can portend, despite the collective merriment such days encourage in many people. Personally I think it may be hundreds or thousands of years to see any real change. Like the swallows that live in caves, eventually over many centuries the surface of the cave walls becomes smooth and polished due to the flapping of their wings.

NemesisCalling @ 67 “Reduce the size and population of the state.” Yeah, nice to know that the ancient Chinese too were calling out for de-population measures even prior to mass manslaughter initiated by chairmans mao and deng.

Chinese population waxed and waned for many centuries due to floods, droughts, famine, earthquakes, epidemics and starvation. Prior to the establishment of communism, dynasties of Emperors did not always quote figures, or hid them (mandate of heaven fears), nor was China always unified as one country.  It is said Chinese people have such a diverse cuisine because they had to learn how to eat everything and anything. Mud soup was even on the menu when starvation set in. While the ‘great leap forward’ was a disaster for many reasons, with possibly as many as 15 million to 45 million deaths (very difficult to estimate at the time effectively, and highly exaggerated by the West) it also corresponded with natural disasters like floods and droughts in farming regions at the time.

Post-communism however, China has seen a huge increase in population way beyond anything before and also far more stability within population levels, despite the ‘one child’ policy that prevailed for many years.

Alexander Mercouris apologized on Monday for being duped by a Yanis Varoufakis AI generated video, the content of which he relied on for analysis on Saturday.

~~

Pepe Escobar wrote recently on this fad of AI-generated videos.
Excerpt:

There are several channels on YouTube manipulated by A.I., stealing the image and voice by some of us, independent political analysts. A not-extensive list includes as targets John Mearsheimer, Larry Johnson, Richard Wolff, Glenn Diesen, Yanis Varoufakis, economist Paulo Nogueira Batista and myself.

It’s not an accident that all of us are independent geopolitical and geoeconomic analysts, mostly know each other personally, and are guests in roughly the same podcasts…

In all cases, as far as we, the targets are concerned, all these channels are fake. I repeat: all these channels are fake. They may at least in some cases be set up by “fans” – certainly with an eye for profit via monetization.

Or the whole scam may be part of something way more sinister: a strategy bent of loss of credibility. As in an operation by the usual suspects to sow confusion amongst the – large – audience of several independent thinkers…

Cracking the code of the scam

Quantum Bird, a physics and HPC (High Performance Computing) expert, formerly with the CERN in Geneva, has cracked the code of the scam:

“The proliferation of agents of deep learning digital neural networks capable of emulating writing, voice and video of human beings was inevitable, and their impact on scientific research, production of knowledge and art in general has a negative potential that has not been yet fully analyzed.”

He adds:

“While writers and academics are detailing the springing up of texts attributed to them, and replicating to a certain extent their style and opinions, the latest fad is the blooming of whole channels on YouTube, and other notorious Big Tech platforms, that offer videos of popular content producers, communicating in their native language or other languages. In several cases, the quality of this synthesized material is sufficiently high not to allow immediate identification by an average viewer. In the context of the political analysis community, the impact is obvious: historic revisionism, erosion of reputations and distortion of news and analysis.”

And here Quantum Bird lays out the tech clincher:

“The synthetization of this type of content requires the availability of abundant samples and massive computational capacity, way beyond the reach of domestic users. While the popularity of the YouTube victims guarantees the first condition, the second one suggests the activity of large-scale state or corporate actors, since advanced deep learning models must be developed and trained by processing a huge quantity, in terms of “disk space”, of audio and video. The monetization of the content does not cover the costs of this operation. Ironically, it’s the availability and the excess exposure of voice and video online that allows this type of attack.”

If the mind is vast and profound,
regardless of the decay, destruction and decadence of our circumstances,
we have inner space to realize peace and happiness in 2026
and help others to do so as well.

@ YY 89

Thx for the comment. Happy New Year!

The first part of Chap LXXX may have been translated by Lau to read “Reduce the population,” but no where else in the Tao Te Ching is there such a reference to a specific and heavy-handed restriction (indeed, culling even) on the people. This leads me to probably favor other translations for this chapter, although overall I have always like D.C. Lau’s. However, when reading Lau’s version, my mind did not immediately go the violent/culling-route; rather, I thought he was maybe talking about the size of the state, meaning its layers of bureaucracy. To coincide with this thought, in another chapter, Lau interprets “The more laws, the more criminals.”

This is more or less in line with my current thought about the west and such asinine notions as “full employment” and “replacement labor.” Stupid technocratic concepts imo and the wrong path for the state to follow.

Mr. Wendell @ 94,

I can hardly remain neutral witnessing how many of these mainland Chinese now struggle from having to feed two sets of elderly parents in addition to a “young emperor” who shall inherit all upon their passing – who in their right mind shall willingly sacrifice their sole offspring as soldiers in future armed conflict?

To make matters worse, a massive “exodus” of sorts is underway with a great many heading for singapore, malaysia, Australia, Britain and the United States, etc. in blatant desperate attempt to hide their shady monies pilfered and stolen from own fellow citizens back home.

(How pitiful that the West should now become “bastions” for money-laundering!)

A [godless communist] regime with many a minion concerned solely with mercenary self-interest and little else hardly qualifies as a nation strong.

My guess is these very minions too shall not receive warm welcome from locals in host countries fool enough to have presence of them lot.

(To your health, sir.)
