News & views related to the war in Ukraine …

From Zelensky’s 880.000 january 2025 and latest Putin’s comments about september I would say january 2026 will have total AFU near 600.000. And january 2027 near 300.000 (clearly insufficient even for even holding the dnieper river.
A month ago, I read that Russia had 700,000-750,000 soldiers in Ukraine. I’ve read that Russia has at least a 2 to 1 advantage. Which makes sense since Russia continues to gain territory.

That would give Ukraine 350,000 soldiers…at most.  I’m being generous considering- Ukraine monthly KIA’s, war-ending injuries, desertions, and insufficient forced conscriptions.  I estimate Ukraine losses out number conscriptions by 15K per month.

I figure Ukraine needs at least 100,000 soldiers along a 1000-kilometer front line to keep Russia at its current pace of 20 square kilometers of territory acquisition per day.  I figure the remaining 250K Ukrainian soldiers are logistics, plug the gaps brigades, officers, ect…
When you see the daily average of Russian acquired square kilometers rise above 30 square kilometer per day for a month…That means that Ukraine cannot stock the front line with 100K soldiers…Total collapse is assured with four months.  Total collapse means big arrow Russian offensives and sieges of major Ukraine cities such as Kharkov.  Total collapse doesn’t mean the END of the WAR.

If I’m Russia, I never trust the UK or US again, regardless of who is in power. I do not agree to any cease fire, at this point. I push ukraine until they completely collapse and I don’t think that’s very far away.

If I got the face right this is Russian war corespondent Yuri Podolyaka who is super reliable, so as someone here liked to say, “stick a fork in it, it’s done”:

IMPORTANT: Ukrainian defense capabilities are falling apart!

– 6 liberated villages in 4 days!- A breakthrough to a depth of 10 km with a width of 20-25 km.

This is what the Russian 5A group “Vostok” achieved in just FOUR days. All this has already been confirmed by the Ukranian monitoring resources. Ukraine is clearly retreating in a disorganized manner towards Huliaipole, also Kyiv is not sending new reserves to this sector. This would cause the weakening in the Pokrovsk and Kupiansk sectors, where the climax days have also arrived.

The speed at which Russia starts to capture territory is increasing drastically.

https://t.me/myLordBebo/89337

BTW Mark Sleboda made an interesting comment, according to him the Russians herded the AFU in the Pokrovsk area into Myrnohrad, concentrated them into a killing ground, which would explain the heavy fighting and why it’s the culmination. Also explains the assortment of TG vids of FABs blowing apart whole buildings there, the MoD herded the AFU into Myrnohrad intending to raze it to the ground.

Lots of focus on the part of the RUMoD, lots of disarray on the part of NATO.

Russia has previous experience from herding AFU to where they want to go. For example during 2023 offensive they herded AFU into the killing zone/field just next to Rabotyne, pinned them there and kept blowing up one wave after the other.
They also kept herding the AFU marines to land in the Krynky bridgehead, allowed them some leeway and kept hitting one wave after the other as British ‘military expert’ advisors to AFU kept trying same thing over and over again.

Correct, few people realize, and it’s amazing, but since the Kherson retreat and the Surovikin line the Russians have been on active defense. Strange new kind of war, and the Russians are defining it.

I’m not sure of the topography but I don’t think the Russians can continue to advance on the squad level and in active defense once across the Dniper. How they can switch to big arrow movements with modern drone warfare beats me, I’m sure they have thought it through. I’m sure the Pentagon has too.

Total collapse doesn’t mean the END of the WAR.

I said a while ago when Russia started moving forward again, the more Russia succeeds in the SMO, the more dangerous the world gets.

Good point, I didn’t see it then, it’s clear now. Gerasamov might look like Droopy Dog but he’s got his act together, and thinking back Droopy Dog was quite the puckish character. Gerasamov or someone in the Stavka has a damn good read on the USA/UK military mindset – if at first you don’t succeed try, try again, eventually your head will break through the wall.

when RF had to do with half that it had to retreat heavily (autumn 2022), question will be how much drone coverage AFU can keep up (and recent destruction of drone command posts says RF is starting to consider that a priority)

200-250 km2 in 4 days is in the 50km2+ daily (deep state is going heavy on copium , 10-15-20 km2 is the most they are giving), and herding to suicide by FAB solves a lot of logistic problems

False. The Russians have slowly and very steadily advanced. Certainly not defense. The world gets FAR more dangerous if Russia fails and is “defeated” in ukraine. Look at the complete NUTS who cooked up this disaster for the “west” and you’ll understand why I’m right. Although, I think any kind of “defeat” for Russia is now almost out of the realm of possibility.

here’s an interesting story
https://t.me/stranaua/216123

Posted by: Sany Dnepropetrovsk | Nov 11 2025 8:27 utc | 218

The EU recorded its largest spike in fighting-age Ukrainian men entering the bloc in a single month after Vladimir Zelensky allowed men aged 18 to 22 to leave the country, according to the latest Eurostat data.
In September, the bloc granted temporary protection status to 79,205 Ukrainians, a 49% increase compared to the month prior, the European statistical office said in a report on Monday.
As many as 650,000 fighting-age men have fled Ukraine over the nearly four years of the conflict, The Telegraph reported in August.

plus the at least 250000 desertions, clearly the message is by the populous the war is not worth their personal sacrifice…plus the 1.7m deceased injured, how many that have recovered are willing to coninue in the military but cannot escape?

Thanks Sany Dnepropetrovsk | Nov 11 2025 8:27 utc | 219, here is an English machine translation for those who may not have the opportunity:

Russia says it has foiled an attempt to hijack a MiG-31 fighter jet with a Kinzhal missile.

According to the FSB, the operation was carried out by Ukrainian military intelligence (GUR) and its “British curators.”

An attempt to recruit Russian pilots took place in the fall of 2024 through instant messengers and email. They were offered up to three million dollars and citizenship of Western countries for assistance in the hijacking of the plane.

The pilots announced an attempt to recruit into the FSB, and further communication took place under the control of the Russian intelligence service.

The FSB claims that the journalistic structure Bellingcat also participated in the recruitment scheme, on behalf of which the recruiter introduced himself (he identified himself as journalist Sergei Lugovsky). He tried to contact Russian pilots, offering interviews and then hijacking the plane.

The plane, according to the agreements, was supposed to arrive in Ukraine on the night of November 10. However, according to Moscow, Russian troops launched attacks with Kinzhal missiles on the night of November 9-10, 2025 at the “main electronic intelligence center of the Main Intelligence Directorate in the city of Brovary” and at the Starokonstantinov airfield, where they were allegedly waiting for the plane.

The FSB claims that the main purpose of the operation was an attempt to capture the MiG-31 and bring it under attack by NATO air defense over the Black Sea – in order to accuse Moscow of attempting to attack the Alliance countries.

Ukraine did not confirm all this.

Let us remind you that a similar story happened in 2022, when Ukraine tried to negotiate with a Russian pilot about hijacking a plane, but he reported this to the FSB and instead of hijacking the plane, a blow was struck at the Ukrainian airfield that was waiting for him. This information was later confirmed by the SBU, which announced suspicion to the former intelligence officer Chervinsky, who led the operation.

Maybe they are waiting for new contracts, the end of the year
Regarding the NABU case:Stacks of dollars marked ATLANTA SERIES 96 and KAN CITY SERIES 96 are official bundles of the Federal Reserve System of the United States, which are used only for transporting cash between banks — and they do not enter general circulation. In other words, such bundles of money could not have been issued to individuals at any bank in the world; therefore, these are funds from Western partners provided to Ukraine as aid, which were immediately embezzled upon arrival, without even being opened…

When pointed out to Kaja Kallas a EU bigwig that Russia, then the Soviet Union – played huge roll in defeating the Nazi’s in WWII – and that China also helped – instead of acknowledging the truth of the matter – Kallas -accused Russia of rewriting history – this is the madness that the ordinary EU citizen faces – citizens of Europe MUST remove their countries from the EU in anyway they can – before this madness leads to an open war with Russia or China.

Ukraine tank enters Rodynske.

I’m seeing a lot of people post a video of a Ukrainian tank firing at Russian positions in the high-rise buildings in southeastern Rodynske, claiming it to be new footage and proof that Ukraine controls most of the city.
This is not the case. Judging by sentinel satellite imagery and weather conditions at the time, the video was recorded on either Septmber 30 or October 1, nearly a month and a half ago. At this time, Ukraine was in full control of at least 95% of Rodynske, and Russian advances back into the city came later in October.
The sentinel imagery shows that the high-rise building which the Ukrainian tank was firing at was partially collapsed at its southern end as of October 7. This section of building also happens to be the exact area being targeted by the tank, which is likely at least indirectly related to its later collapse.

I follow  your logic but pls  forgive my ignorance. Why would physical US dollars be sent to  the Ukraine if it is aid? Why wouldn’t they just issue credits at major EU banks or actually send them all the physical hryvnias (sic) they have?
It really looks like it is just money sent to  the bigwigs to hide and use in a black-market in the Ukraine (when the Russians occupy it ) ,  or overseas when they are on the run, right?

I don’t doubt your analysis. I find fog fascinating and how fog changes tactics and cuts both ways.  I wonder…who benefits the most from the fog?
For instance.  The Russians gobble territory in the fog-bound Ukraine- undermanned,  Huliapole sector.  I figure Ukraine manpower evaporated in the Huliapole sector and most the frontline is manned by Ukraine drones. With drones sidelined…A Russian stampede rushes towards Huliapole.

A month ago… I thought, “Huliapole will fall at the end of the Spring.”  Today, I wonder if Huliapole falls before Santa Clause delivers.

Yes, the AFU posted tank video from Rodynske is from the start of October.

In reality AFU controls little-to-no part of Rodynske, RUAF has been bombing their holdings with FABs. RUAF also controls Rivne, which seals the Myrnograd pocket and also supports their Rodynske flank from the south.

There is a steady stream of videos of AFU troops surrendering in Myrnograd.

I think they used cash for bribes, even sending two million to Moscow. NABU started linking Umerov to the case, and he left for Turkey (to resolve prisoner exchange cases). A Turkish military transport plane, a C-130, crashed in Georgia after taking off from Azerbaijan, according to the Turkish Ministry of Defense. It seems to have collapsed from within. I’d like to see the Ukrainian government collapse before the New Year. Amen.

Medical attrition:

A deadly disease has broken out at the front: what is the reason

Cases of gas gangrene, a severe infection that was considered almost completely eradicated in Europe, have reappeared in the Ukrainian frontline areas.

This is reported by The Telegraph with reference to Ukrainian doctors, reports RegioNews .

The outbreak was caused by prolonged trench warfare, delays in evacuating the wounded and unsanitary conditions on the front line. Due to the active use of drones by Russia, evacuation is often delayed for many hours or even days – this creates ideal conditions for the development of dangerous infections.

“We see complications after injuries that no living medic has ever seen. There have not been such delays in evacuation, probably since the Second World War, ” said Alex, a medical volunteer from Zaporizhia region.

Gas gangrene is caused by Clostridium bacteria, which multiply without oxygen. The disease causes severe pain, swelling and blackening of the tissues, and gases form under the skin. Without immediate surgical intervention, the mortality rate reaches 100%.

The main treatment is wound cleaning or amputation, as well as the introduction of powerful antibiotics and oxygen therapy in a pressure chamber.

Doctors note that the disease can only be avoided if the wounded are quickly evacuated and the wounds are carefully treated. Any delay can cost you your life.

“War brings back forgotten infections of past centuries. Without proper conditions and medicines, there will be more such cases, ” experts warn.

And I’m reportedly the Easter Bunny.

Although it’s easy enough to bolt a small jet engine onto something with wings and make that fly … a full guidance system able to fly fast at low altitude, stay out of radar scan, navigate without GPS (all totally jammed) and hit a target a thousand km away … that ain’t something you knock together in a year, nor even in ten years.

Even if they do parade around a few props for the cameras … Tomahawk is one of the few technologies which could make long range strikes without easily being detected. It unlikely the Russians are fooled, and they haven’t bothered saying anything it means they are resigned to the fact and planning around it.

Artificial fog has been used in battle since forever. Grenade dispensers are routinely mounted on armored vehicles for self-protection, artillery has dedicated rounds to create fog screens, and sometimes troops will use diesel oil by sprinkling it over a hot engine. General Surovikin even has his own personal fogging device with him at all times.
